Problems with 2011 Ford Fusion FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

On average, the 2011 Ford Fusion starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM and its various aspects after 56 708 miles.

Recently reported FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM problems on 2011 Ford Fusion

Throttle body stopped working while i was traveling down the freeway. service light came on and i had no power to continue on. had to get over three lanes while car slowed down. stopped off at side of road and car idled very rough. turned car off waited a minute and restarted and it ran fine for awhile unit happened again. *tr

I was sitting at a drive up window and my rpms went way up and the car died and when i'm driving i have a lost of power like it tryed to die then recovered i,m being told this is the (fuel injection throttle bodies) this is be coming a big problem where it starting to die more i don't want my wife to get in to a wreck and get hurt so i'm going to replace the throttle bodie but i think this should be a recall asap, this is a very high priced part i would like a refund

I was in my 2011 ford fusion. i stopped at a red light. when it turned green i gave it gas and the car started to shake violently, the wrench light came on the dash and would not go more than 2 mph. a truck almost rear-ended me in a 50 mph zone. i was really shaken up and thought that was the closest i had come to death or serious injury in my life. we took the car to ford and they told us that it was a bad throttle body and that it would be around $500 to replace. they said the part was on back order but could do a rush shipment and have it within 10 days. our ford has always been serviced at the dealership but we decided to call our mechanic (non ford) in town to see if he could get the part quicker or cheaper. he called another ford dealership and was told that the throttle body is a huge problem and they had been back ordered for over 6 months but more were expected in by october 2013. we checked online and found that there has been problems with the ford throttle body for years, and ford refuses to do anything about it. i would think ford would stand behind their products instead of worrying about profits when their customer's lives are in danger from an inferior part. to top it off we have also been hearing a popping sound in the front end. when we took it into ford for the throttle body problem they also said that the bushings in the front end for the tie rods and a arms were bad and that they needed to be replaced. when i called ford they said there was nothing they could do since there were not any recalls on the vehicle. i can't understand when you type in ford throttle body in any search engine, it comes up with thousands of people that are having problems with the ford throttle body. now i truly know the meaning of ford, found on road dead. either the ford vehicle itself or the occupants of the car. shame on ford for not fixing these safety issues. *tr

Drive out of town on a single lane road going 55 mph and without warning the car showed a wrench symbol and lost all throttle response at the foot pedal. had to pull over on a highway without a shoulder and turned off the car. restarting the car cleared the wrench symbol and i had throttle response. tried to drive the 10 miles that i had left to get home and the issue happened 4 more times. internet search pointed to a bad throttle body and it looks like a major issue on multiple ford cars/suvs. ford dealer ship has a new part number for this throttle body with a 2 month backorder with around 6,534 units on backorder! ordered a new part number from ebay and seems to be working. i did the replacement in 10 minutes, but have read online that people are paying around 500 dollars at the dealership to replace this part. that alone should be a law suit! i was lucky that this did not cause a crash since i had my kids in the car with me when this happened. [xxx] i have the removed part if you need it. *tr

Vehicle lost power three times over a 10-mile stretch. check engine light came on. we called aaa for a tow to the ford dealership since we felt like it was too unsafe to risk a trip on the interstate to get to the dealership. was found to be a throttle body failure. *tr

I was driving with my daughters in the car in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway. i was traveling the speed limit, at or around 55 mph, when all of a sudden the car went limp. there was no acceleration and the car immediately began to coast. a wrench light and the engine light went on. with no ability to speed up, i had to navigate through two lanes of high speed traffic with a paralyzed car to get me and my children to safety. luckily, i was able to do so. the dealership informed me that this doesn't happen very often, and that unfortunately, this repair would not be covered under the power train. they ordered and replaced the throttle body. upon investigating this issue online, i was shocked to discover that this problem is so prevalent. the fact that ford is covering this up and pushing the costs on to its customers is frustrating (more than $1300 in my case), but the fact that they are willing to risk the lives of these very same customers is downright disturbing. there should be an immediate recall on all the cars affected by this throttle body issue, as well as a full reimbursement for all those who have had to suffer through this already. *tr

I was driving at highway speed (70), when my cars accelerator stopped responding in the middle of a curve on a 2 lane rural highway with 2 foot shoulders. i was able to pull off into the grass, where i realize that my car was idling erratically. the accelerator would not respond, so i turned the key off and restarted the vehicle. it resumed normal operation, but has since happened multiple times. i regularly enter high volume, high speed intersections, where this could be extremely dangerous, if not fatal. ford says there is no recall, but i found no small number of similar complaints as i searched the internet. please force them to do a recall before someone gets killed. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I was doing 55 mph and my car stalled, the wrench and check engine light came on then the car stopped. after a couple attempts the car started and i was allowed to drive although i was scared and got off the freeway. i also have had a problem with my wheels knocking when i turn like one of the tires are going to come off. now i have to replace the throttle body! i took the car to the mechanic and now all these things have to be fixed and have become quite costly, not to mention the car was made to not have a gas cap? really? i'm starting to wonder if the ford fusion is the right car to have and the safety questions are always in my head because if a car stops on the freeway while doing 55 a serious accident can't be too far behind. i pray these issues all get addressed and recalled so no one gets killed! i did research on this website and found that the same issues have happened to many others but when i called ford's customer relations department i was told there are no recalls for my vin. i can't imagine i am the only one having these troubling issues taking place but it only affected certain models. seems to me all ford fusions should have these items recalled and replace regardless of what model. i now have to keep my receipt from the mechanic because it was not a ford dealer who fixed my car and hope that the recall on these issues will allow me to get my hard earned monies back one day soon. frustrated ford fusion owner to say the least. *tr

Vehicle stalled without warning in heavy traffic. pulled off, restarted. resumed normal operation. stalled again. restarted again. began stalling at lights. had to trim gas pedal while stopped to keep running. car stalls on acceleration b/w 2nd and 3rd gear (6 speed manual). when car stalls while underway, major shudder occurs. has gone into limp mode but after restart will be normal operationally for a short time and then without warning cut out. extremely dangerous situation, in particular when accelerating from a stop or into traffic or if successful doing that, stalling without warning at speed and with cars/trucks bearing down on you. at one of the above stalls, had tractor trailer bearing down on me without an ability to remove the car from road in that particular area. throttle body codes p2111 and p2112 indicating bad throttle body. very common occurrence apparently among the 2010 through 2012 ford fusions. requesting a recall and reimbursement for throttle body which i have replaced. *tr

While driving at highway speeds, my ford fusion accelerator became unresponsive. it was as if the car shifted into neutral. there was no shoulder and i was forced to come to a complete stop on the highway. after a brief internet search, it was apparent this is a very big problem for ford fusions and ford has done nothing to fix the problem. the malfunctioning part was specifically the throttle body. *tr

After accelerating to 30 my car lost the ability to use the foot pedal. the engine continued running but was unable to accelerate. i pulled off the side of the road, shut the car off waited a few minutes and then started the car. it worked fine until august 15th when the same thing happened 4 times. once with in 30 minutes at a speed us 40 to 55. the 3rd and 4th times occurred within minutes of each other at 55 mph in a construction zone. on all occasions the wrench light came on. on august 17th i took my car to the dealership and they informed me the throttle body assembly was bad and needed replaced. that cost me $500 out of pocket since my car is out of warranty. *tr

I was driving to work at highway speeds when i lost acceleration and had to pull over, the car went into limp mode. i shut the car off and turned it back on. i got another couple miles when it did it again. i tried to drive it again and it made it to work fine. on the way home from work, i made it about a mile when it did it again, i turned it off and then turned it back on, the car acted normal and i made it another mile before it went into limp mode and the check engine light came on. i got my car towed to the shop and found out that my electronic throttle had gone bad. i found that many other cars from ford have had this issue as well. my car is only two years old and shouldn't have this issue already! i could have gotten into a very serious accident since i was on the highway. *tr

My car engine "stalled" (the engine was running, but there was no power from the engine to accelerate) while i was driving and in the process of increasing my speed up to the 55 mph speed limit after turning onto a major road. since there was no engine power to accelerate, i had to let the car roll to the shoulder where i pulled over and restarted it. this has happened about 4 times in the last 6 monthsand i am very fearful that the car will stall while i am on a high speed, high traffic, multi-lane highway, which i use to drive to and from work every day. *tr

I was braking because someone in front of me was turning right. when they turned and i let off the brake, i gave it gas to go. i didn't go after flooring it, and the car started bucking and jerking like crazy. it was in rush hour traffic. thanks be to god that i was right by a ford dealership. it was a very dangerous situation to be in when your throttle goes completely out. that's what the problem was...i need a new throttle body. that could have easily cause an accident. i've read on line where several people have experienced the same issue with the ford fusion se 3.0l v6. i firmly believe this is a matter that ford needs to correct. this is a situation that could have ended very badly had i been on a freeway/highway. i have never submitted something to you before. please do something! no one needs to get hurt. when your throttle goes out when you're driving it, it's a potential deadly consequence. *tr

I was traveling about 45mph when the car just shut off. had to coast to side of the side of the road almost got rear ended. this has happened at least three more times in less than a week. the service department claims to know nothing about this problem. i'm sure the service managers are told to act dumb about this issue. i have read that other people have had this same issue. what will it take to get action, someone hurt or killed?? *tr

While driving on i-95 south approximately 65-70 mph in moderately heavy traffic, at exit 180, the car sounded like it dropped out of gear while accelerating. i was able to merge to the shoulder of the highway. the car continued coasting and the "wrench light" appeared. the car would not accelerate at all. when stopped, the car rattled and idled very hard and was shaking. the service engine light came on. i turned the car off and i waited a few minutes and cranked the car back and all was fine, wrench light and service engine light was off. this has happened 6 more times since july 8th 2013, yesterday it happened 4 times in the 1 hour, almost got slammed by two 18 wheeler trucks. this really should be a recall due to this type of situation can get people killed. *tr

While driving on the freeway the car went an idle speed forcing me to get off of the freeway at reduced speed. tried to restart car several times. would only idle rough. let it sit 1/2 hour waiting for aaa ran ok after another restart. repeated several times since. once i was stalled in the middle of a traffic controlled intersection. was told i need a new throttle body and they are back ordered could take 6 weeks before one would be available because of long list of orders. this says it is a major design/manufacture fault/issue. i feel it should be recalled and replaced free if there are that many issues with this item. *tr

I have a 2011 ford fusion 3.0 l v6. i was driving down the highway with my 4 yr old, when the engine lost all acceleration power and an orange wrench light illuminated my dashboard. i was in the fast lane and had to cross 3 lanes of traffic in a disabled car to get to the shoulder! i would hit the gas pedal with no response and it was not shifting right at all. i cut the ignition and let it sit for a couple min while i looked through the manual to see what the wrench light was all about. when i turned it back on the light was still there and again , not shifting right. i let it sit for another 10 min and started it again. the wrench light was gone so i drove home. took it to the dealership and they said something about a sensor and the computer needed replacement.it was under warranty so i didn't really pay too much attention , but when i went online to see if it's happened to others..i was unpleasantly surprised to see that there are hundreds of other complaints on the same exact issue! as another commenter recommended, i called the ford consumer's hotline at 800-392-3673 to see if there's anything being done. the rep told me there's no recalls and all she can do is document it and to call her back if i need anything else...really? a car with no power on the highway is obviously a safety concern and with this many complaints i'm really surprised ford and the national highway traffic safety administration hasn't recalled this faulty part.does someone need to get hurt or worse, killed first? *tr

It was raining heavily and my son and i were entering a highway via a ramp and the vehicle lost all acceleration and throttle response. i moved the car over to the side of the road. the car was idling but had not throttle response. stuck in the rain along the side of road. called for a tow truck to have the car towed to ford. diagnosed as bad throttle body. part back ordered for days. seems to be a common problem. *tr

As i was driving down the highway between 65-70mph the gas peddle stopped working, the wrench light came on the dash board and i pulled to the side of the road. i turned the car off and restarted it but did have to pump the gas a time or 2 to get it started. engine lights went out. this same thing happened 7 times in what should have been a 1hr 45 min trip. i pulled into a ford dealer along the highway and they ran diagnostics for me and came up with the throttle body problem. i only had 3 episodes on the way home. *tr

I was driving and i lost power- i was unable to accelerate, car stalled causing cars behind me to swerve off road to avoid hitting my car. the dealership says it is the throttle body sensor and there is a nationwide shortage of parts. *tr

2011 fusion w/ 3.0 liter 6cyl. while traveling at approximately 50 mph the engine suddenly bogged down. i pressed the gas pedal and nothing happened. i was able to pull over to the side and the engine was still running. a wrench light came on. i put the car in park and tried the gas pedal again with no response. i turned the engine off, waited a few seconds, then turned it back on. i was able to drive home, then to the ford dealership with no incident. i was told that the problem was the throttle body which is on national back order. ford would not cover the repair even though car was just over the warranty mileage limit. i found out that the nhtsa started an investigation on this issue in february 2013 and ford is aware of the multiple complaints of this same problem. i was lucky no truck was behind me since my car slowed quickly and suddenly with no warning. the internet is filled with complaints of this same issue. please do something before someone is killed! *tr

I was on my way to work friday, 6/21/13, traveling at 65mph and lost all power/acceleration in center lane on freeway. unfortunately, i had to cross two lanes of heavy traffic to get to the right shoulder, while losing power. an amber wrench light was on along with the engine light. i put car in neutral, and put pressure on the gas pedal - no rpm's, no power - at this moment the engine begins to sputter and shake and i cannot keep the car running. i turned the car off and waited a few minutes. i started the car again, no dash indicator lights, and the engine acted normal when i put pressure on the gas pedal. gas delivery and rpm's seemed appropriate. i entered freeway again and approximately 1.5 miles later, the same thing happened again. amber wrench on and no power. again, the engine is running very rough and then stalls. i am near my dealership, so it takes two more attempts, before i make it there. now, it gets better. i am informed that it is my throttle body and there are 2000 parts on backorder from michigan. it could be one week, maybe wednesday, 6/26/13, and i would be on a waiting list with 8 other people. what!!!!! went back the next morning, saturday, 6/22/13, and was given an update. it is possible that it could be up to two weeks for repair at over $500. i quickly research this issue, and find many owners of all different ford models are having the same issue. some are lucky enough to be under warranty. this seems to be a defective part and as a loyal consumer to ford - the company needs to do right by its customers. i believe this is a safety issue for some owners, because a lot of us are traveling freeways and a loss of power in our vehicles can put us in a dangerous situation. *tr

i was accelerating from stop light. attempting to reach 55 mph only got to about 45-50 mph..i then lost throttle response(no acceleration). wrench light was on. coasted to the side of highway, the engine idled a little rough. very low rpm. put the car in park and tried to rev the engine. no response, only idle, low rpm.then i turned the engine off, waited about a minute and restarted it. no more wrench light icon. no problems the rest of the day. i took the car into the dealer to test for codes,no codes were found. was told to bring the car in when wrench icon is on to test for code. i only have this one car so i'm driving it every day, but i won't drive over 40 mph until the throttle is replaced. *tr

The wrench icon popped up and the vehicle stalled while going down the highway out of town. turned the car off and it acted like it didn't want to crank back up. tried again and drove 2 miles down the road and it stalled out again. put in park, put in drive and all it did was roll backwards. cut it off and sat awhile and drove less than a mile down the road to a safe place to have it towed in. *tr

I was driving in the high-speed lane on rt. 3n in plymouth,ma when all of a sudden i had no power coming from the gas pedal. luckily the traffic was not heavy at the time and there was enough momentum for me to be able to steer the car to the breakdown lane. as i was coasting to the roadside the wrench symbol light came on the dashboard. my passenger and i were able to come away from this dangerous incident shaken but unscathed. after the car was towed to the ford dealer it was determined that the problem was a faulty electrical throttle body in a two year old car with less than 30,000 miles. after five days i am still waiting for the car to be fixed, because the part is backordered. by looking on the internet i now know why the part is backordered. if so many fords are having a throttle body problem, why hasn't there been a recall issued for this part? *tr

Whenever we accelerate our vehicle hesitates and then jumps into gear. it has already cut off once and we are worried about our safety. *tr

I was driving down the road and all of the sudden i loose acceleration power and a wrench symbol appeared on the dashboard. i was able to pull off the road. i had to turn off and restart the car to get going again. this has also happened two other times since with the same scenario. local dealer diagnosed as a defective throttle body. *tr

Was driving 65 when the wrench light came on and the gas pedal went dead. got pulled over and car was idling very rough. turned off for 2 minutes and after a hard start the car ran normal again. then it happened again that evening as i was just pulling out my driveway. i was totally unaware of this problem until i read about all the complaints on this web site. i took it to my dealership and guess what, bad throttle body!!!! my dealership is pretty good and they fixed me up in a rental loaner car while they waited for 5 days to get the new part. i've had my fusion back for 10 days now and its been good and actually feels a little more responsive. a friend of mine suggested a call ford's consumer's hotline 800-392-3673 which i called a week ago and ford gave me a case number. i told the rep i thought ford should at least give me some credit for the repair with the throttle body history and they should step up and do a recall on this before someone gets killed. ford said they would call me in 4 business days. that was a week ago, didn't hear a word so i called them again today about my case. they said they checked with the dealership and that the dealership had already given me a discount by only charging me $500 on a $900 repair. amazing i was quoted $500 for the repair the day i brought it in. i told her that my last 4 vehicle purchases were new fords and i'm seeing an end coming to our relationship if they failed to act on this throttle body thing. my impression is that ford is in complete denial and if they don't think this is a safety issue i suggest that they should experience it on the interstate in the center lane during rush hour traffic. *tr

Incident#1: traveling on freeway fast lane at around 65 mph, engine appeared to cut out for no apparent reason. lost all power, but radio still on. put on emergency flashers and was fortunate enough to be able to get all the way over to emergency lane. turned off ignition, took out key, turned car back on, and everything started normally. was able to get back home without any other problem. incident#2: pulling away from a stop sign at around 5 mph after having driven only about a mile from home. engine cut out again as i was accelerating. pulled to the side of the road and turned off car, removed key from ignition, started car again and everything was fine. fortunately, i have been alone in the car when this has happened, but i have two children under 4 whom i transport often. it seems like only a matter of time before i'm in a more serious situation and this happens again (such as turning left into oncoming traffic with my kids in the car). based on many complaints on this site and actual personal accounts of other ford fusion owners who have had the exact same problem, it seems obvious that there is a problem with the throttle body. hopefully there will be a fix for this before someone gets seriously injured. *tr

On june 10, 2013 i was driving on a side street and stopped at an intersection. i went to accelerate to advance into the intersection and it was as if i had lost power. i was able to get the car to the side of the road. the wrench was illuminated on the dash. i turned off the car and started it and it seemed fine. a few weeks later, around july 18th, i was backing out of my driveway and the same thing happened. i limped to the side of the road and turned off the engine and it started fine. on august 9 i was on the highway in the slower speed lane and i felt the car hesitate. it was as if the engine wasn't getting any gas. the car had only enough power to get to the side of the road, a local ford dealership was close by so we brought the car there. we were told it is the throttle body and air bypass and that the part is on backorder and they can't estimate when the part will be in. searching the web i found this is a known issue with the 2009-2011 fusions and there could be a recall. the ford dealership never said a word about a known problem. we have only owned the car for a year. *tr

2300 rpm, transmission lurches, no throttle response. i have to pull over and cut the ignition off to reset the sensor. happened multiple times and finally the check engine light glowed. i went to the ford dealership they said the throttle sensor was bad. i pay them to replace the whole throttle body, which i read online is constantly recurring. not covered in warranty and the number of times this has happened, ford should be responsible for a faulty part. not me. *tr

Vehicle loses all power while driving. wrench light appeared the first 7 times, but after turning the vehicle off and restarting, it goes away and car drives like normal. today while driving it happened at around 60mph. both the wrench light and check engine light came on and after a restart the check engine light stays on. vehicle barely limped the rest of the 5 miles to my house. this has happened at high speeds on the freeway as well nearly causing multiple accidents. currently waiting on dealership to come back with a quote to replace the throttle body. ford needs to issue a recall notice and warranty the cost of the replacement before someone gets killed due to this issue. they are just weighing the cost of a lawsuit due to fatality vs. the cost of warranting the malfunctioning part. paying a few million to a family is cheaper than paying to fix ~725,000 vehicles. work with the throttle body supplier, get your qa/qc under control, and fix the issue guys. *tr ## vin failed ##

I was driving 30mph down a busy street, with back-to-back traffic, when the car jolted forwarded at which time the wrench light became illuminated on the dashboard, the car immediately started bucking (going forward and backward) and i lost all control of the accelerator. the car immediately slowed to a crawl while continuing to "buck." this incident forced everyone behind me to slam on their breaks and i was nearly hit from behind. i was able to maneuver the car to the side of the road safely. my children were in the car and had i been going any faster, they may have suffered from whiplash when the car jolted forward, started bucking and slowed to a crawl simultaneously or this incident could have lead to a several car pile up since this happened during the busiest time of day. a tow truck was dispatched and towed the car to the nearest dealer. the dealer advised that the throttle body motor failed and when it did, the throttle was forced shut (error code: p2112). *tr

While driving the wrench light came on and the car slowly decelerated. after pulling over and putting the vehicle in park, the engine shut off. i remove the key from the ignition, waited a minute, and restarted the vehicle. there were no longer any warning lights and i was able to continue driving home. *tr

I was driving home from school (this has happened before, just not as bad) and my car stopped responding. the wrench light came on and the check engine light came on. i was on a really busy road, so i had to pray that i would not get hit. i turned off the car, and tried to restart it, but it did not want to restart. i sat for a few seconds and was finally able to get it restarted. this happened numerous (probably 6-8 times) on my 12 mile trip home. i took it to the shop this morning and found out it is the throttle body. i just looked it up online and have found out this is a common issue, and that the dealerships (when the car is under warranty) act like they don't know what it wrong. this is not right. there needs to be a recall! i don't have a warranty now, and i took my car to the dealership before the warranty was up and they said there was nothing wrong with it multiple times!!!! *tr

Had stopped at a stop sign , accelerated and would only go slow, got off onto roadside, turned the ignition off, restarted, did the same thing, three times until i could pull it completely off the road and out of the way, had to get towed home, same thing happened the next day and had to get towed to a ford dealership where it still sits after one week, waiting on the throttle body. *tr

Stopped at an intersection and went to accelerate and had no throttle control the wrench light came on. car idled through intersection and rolled into gas station. when i then turned it off and then restarted it and the wrench light was gone. car seemed fine for approximately two weeks, and then the same thing happened again. this is a very big safety issue. *tr

Experienced a sudden loss of power while traveling at highway speed (55 mph). was able to pull over to shoulder, and shifted transmission to park. stepped on gas pedal, but no response by car. turned car off, waited 10-15 seconds, and then re-started car, with the re-start taking 3 to 5 seconds longer than normal on engine turn over. drove home without further incident. happened again the next day, and took the car into dealer. replaced evaporative purge valve, ($342 charge, car is only 2 years old, but out of warranty on mileage) on 6/14/2013. on 7/7/2013 and again on 7/8, car again experienced the same sudden loss of power. drove car to dealer and they diagnosed the problem as electronic throttle body ($318 repair). *tr

The car was traveling on the highway at the speed of 70 mph when it just stopped responding to the gas pedal being pressed. the car came almost to a complete stop and was lucky enough to make it to the side of the rode. the car was almost hit by a truck which swerved into the median to avoid hitting the car. with the car alongside the rode it would not start. the throttle body had failed. *tr

Accelerating from a stop at green traffic signal, my 6 cylinder fusion accelerated to approximately 25 mph and the engine stopped. i had no problem coasting into a nearby parking lot on my right. i turned the ignition off and after 10 seconds i restarted the engine. i drove home without incident afterwards. *tr

Was driving 2011 ford fusion then shut down to idle, no power, almost got re ended, pulled over and put in park turned off and restarted problem was gone but recurred less than 2 tenths of mile. repeated steps with caution floored gas peddle but still happen. autozone checked it and cleared the computer. happen right away after leaving. called ford could not repair because no codes. problem came back 5 days later. at intersection light change green car did same thing, stuck in middle on intersection. put in park and restart was hard to start. red light now just got out of traffic way. car is at ford now. this is a very bad safety feature and will cause an accident sooner or later. ford said they have had a few problems but no recall. *tr

First incident 4/5/13: while traveling approximately 70 mph southbound on interstate 5 near stadium way my 2011 ford fusion without warning lost power and would not respond to any change in throttle position via the accelerator pedal. however, i was able to coast to the far right-hand lane and continue uphill on the transition lane to the southbound 110 freeway as the engine continued to sputter near idle. a chp (california highway patrol) officer escorted me off the freeway. after approximately 10 minutes i attempted to start my vehicle and it ran fine. i purchased a obd ii scanner and checked for any stored codes, no codes were found. i continued to monitor my vehicle via the obd ii scan tool and no codes were recorded. second incident 6/13/13: while traveling approximately 65 mph eastbound in the number 1 lane on interstate 10 my 2011 ford fusion once again vehicle lost power without warning and would not respond to any change in throttle position via the accelerator pedal. in my attempt to move to the right shoulder i was nearly involved in an accident. after exiting the freeway i plugged in the obd ii scan tool and it captured diagnostic trouble code (dtc) p2111 throttle actuator control system ' stuck open. my vehicle would only idle very roughly. i attempted to drive home in this mode. however, after approximately 4 miles the engine stopped completely and i required a tow to my residence. while waiting on the tow vehicle i researched and found out ford has issued technical service bulletin (tsb) 09-23-5 addressing this defect for vehicles manufactured after october 15, 2009. this defect will unfortunately result in the loss of life if these vehicles are not recalled. *tr

Driving the car, it will have sudden loss of all power. the throttle control/transmission light indicator comes on. you have to turn the car off and restart. owners manual states to take to the dealer if it stays on or continues to come on.this has happened numerous times over the last six months. friday 3/8 it happened twice. took to the dealer. state they are unable to repair due to no code in the computer. they had it 5 days, put 100 miles on it trying to get it to do this again. safety issue is this occurring while in an intersection of on the interstate. no solution offered by ford. states have to have a code. no instruction on making sure the code is recorded by the computer. when engine restated clears computer. *tr

Car dies while driving, surges at times, had been happening on and off. died part way through a large intersection on 7-13-13, luckily i just avoided a collision. it would start and go a few feet, then surge and die. called crater lake ford in medford, or, they stated very busy that day and had not heard of the symptoms i described. placed a call to dave's import service they said they would look at the car. within 45 min they had diagnosed failed throttle body. *tr

Car began on multiple occasions acting like it was either not getting power or fuel. taken to a ford dealer in 04/2103 and they disregarded the symptons i was describing and said nothing was wrong (still under warranty then). by august 2013 it was having incidents of shuddering, losing power and would have to be turned off. by 09/03/2013, it was undriveable. a complaint was filed with ford in mid august. car was out of warranty and quoted repair was $871. ford agreed to repair at 50% and work was completed on 09/06/2103.

Car bucked then completely died (in the middle of the street)! lights that came on: stop safely now, wrench, engine, triangle with exclamation point. took a few times to start back up. took it to the dealer and they said they did not have a code but did not find anything wrong. a few days later, it happened again. this time in the middle of the intersection! ( same codes) brought it to dealer again, this time apparently they found the code. the dealer said gas was going in the wrong place and replaced a valve. it has since happened more than five times, all happening at less than 5 mph when starting after a stop. currently with another ford dealership (given the previous one cracked the windshield but claimed it was already there, not to mention the poor service to the car). this latest incident we had the car towed. this was at the recommendation of the ford regional representative who has been extremely helpful. (by the way, this fusion is a hybrid.) currently waiting for diagnosis. *tr

While driving my car lost power. i was not able to accelerate. i stopped the car, turned it off and turned it back on again. i was able to continue driving. took the car into the car dealer for investigation. they did not find a problem. on 5/8/2013 i was driving down the highway at a speed of 73 mph, all of a sudden my car lost power and started jerking again. i was not able to accelerate. i pulled over, turned the car off and turned it back on and was able to drive the car home. the next day i took it to the dealer and they said the throttle body was sticking. they cleaned it and said if it happens again it would have to be replaced. on 5/31/2013 i was driving down the highway at a speed of 70 mph. my car lost power again and starting jerking. i turned the car off for about 1 minute, turned it back on and was able to drive home. *tr

While driving at highway speed on an incline, the car lost all propulsion power. after several seconds, the check engine wrench light turned on and i pulled over to the side. shutting down the vehicle, waiting 1 minute and restarting cleared the check engine light and restored power. the same thing happened 6 weeks later, while idling at a traffic light. after restarting, the system failed again 2 minutes later while driving on level road at 15 mph. the car rested for 2 hours and was then driven without incident to the dealer for repairs. the service technician performed eec test, ppt and component tests, then replaced the throttle body. no subsequent incidents after 1 week. *tr

I have now twice experienced the same problem described in the news articles from this date regarding engine stall. the first occasion, the vehicle was driving on a surface street at approximately 40 mph when it suddenly stalled. the second occasion was while i was trying to enter a freeway at between 50-55 mph. after the engine was turned off for a minute, the vehicle started working again properly. *tr
