My 2011 fusion has 66,000 miles on it, and he ptu (power transfer box) is leaking. my "warranty" expired at 60k miles, so ford will not do anything for me. this is a known issue with ford, and they are ignoring it. my awd shouldn't fail with fewer than 67k miles. oil leaks all over, i am now unable to turn on point. loud raddling noises that could only be detected after a point turn.
Contact team ford las vegas nv 1/29/2016 concerning my recall. safety recall notice 15s34/nhtsa recall 15v-793 they told me they did not know when the parts would be available for repair. they also told me that if the fuel tank had a crack, that a new fuel tank would not be available "until 2017" how is that possible if my fuel tank is indeed cracked. am i supposed to drive the ford fusion with the possibility of a fire or explosion? if this is not a safety concern, i don't know what is i hope that are able to assist me in this matter thank you *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that the fuel cap leak and the check engine warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the canister purge valve solenoid needed to be replaced. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a second opinion and it was confirmed that the canister purge valve solenoid needed replacement. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v793000 (fuel system, gasoline). the failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact received a notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v793000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the part for the recall was not available. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not notified of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available.
My car almost caught on fire while i was working. the fuel tank had a crack in it and gasoline was leaking out. these fumes were inhaled by my grandkids and me. when i took my car in ,the ford dealer kept my car from 12/8/2015 until 07/27/2016. i had to ride in a rental this long.a recall was issued in january. i felt that as a consumer, i was treated unfairly and the risk of my family was not consider a factor when this car could have burst into flames at any time.
Gas leaking on ground due to faulty fuel tank. car had to be taken in an left with dealer for 6+ months. problem with engine light on reoccurring.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. while at a stop light, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. as a result, the contact crashed into the preceding vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy. in addition, the fuel safety cut off switch failed to activate. the air bag warning light illuminated. the contact sustained minor bruises that did not require medical attention. a police report was filed. the vehicle was driven from the crash scene and was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 112,000. the vin was unavailable.
Driving on fwy car display a wrench and you can't accelerate all you can do is coast to the shoulder of the road or hold up traffic.this has happened 10 times in one month my next problem is the dash display check fuel fill inlet and then the engine light comes on. the first time it happened was two weeks after i bought the car so they told me what shop to take it to because we had a 30 day warranty so i did they told me that it was a common problem on cars that don't have gas caps. it happened again, took it back to the same shop and he gave advise on how to fill your gas tank . it happened again took it back to the same shop this time he said that he replaced the whole fuel inlet thing. well it happened again this time he told me to hit the reset button on the steering wheel i did and it went off but it kept on coming back on when i get back in the car and starting it. after a couple of days of doing that i took it back to the same shop he said that he would have to charge me to see what the problem is and i said it says check fuel fill inlet i should'nt have to pay so he said that he would charge the dealer he cleaned the part where the gas goes in he said and every thing is alright.well after about a week it happened again this time the engine light came on too and when you reset the check fuel fill comes right back on. i took it back to the same shop and this time i had to pay and i don't see why because its the same problem over and over again and it is not fixed i paid 50.00$ and it still has check fuel fill inlet and engine light still on. the car is at the ford dealer right now because i had 3 recalls on the vehicle but nothing about the fuel fill inlet, ford said that they can check out why the fuel inlet is on but i have to pay 120.00$ i don't have the money i feel that it should be fixed free because it was under warranty and was never really fixed.
The above car displayed a trouble light. a mechanic used an odb ii scanner and diagnosed the engine problem with the code "p2119" i did some research on line and found out that this is a common problem involving the throttle body. is this a recall item?
My vehicle issued a warning " check fuel fill inlet" after filling my tank. it was very hard to fill and the pump kept shutting off. i read the manual and followed the procedure as directed to resolve the problem. approximately 3 driving cycles later, the light went off. i refueled yesterday and fuel began leaking out from the fuel filling port and down the side of the car. i stopped several times and cleaned the spill. i finally gave up and stopped at half a tank. i went to the dealer today and was told this issue (replacing the fuel filler neck) was not part of the 8 year/ 80,000 mile emissions warranty in california and would not be covered. this is not only a safety issue but an envirionmental issue as well. i am highly concerned that ford can pick and choose what items are warranted when in fact the entire system is fully integrated and relates to all other functions in the system. the safety issue endagers not just myself but anyone at the gas station at the time. i believe a recall should be ordered. when doing myy research about this issue i have found this to be a very common defect in ford fusions.
Driving at 60 mph my car shut off power and surged. throttle was not responding. had to pull off onto a side road and shut the engine off. it would only idle at that time. after calling for help we found that the engine restarted and drove ok. no check engine light. drove it home and it ran ok for about 1 month. next time i was starting up from a stoplight in traffic and the throttle would not speed the car up. coasted through traffic to a service road and killed the engine (was at idle) and restarted ok. third occurrence was 2 days later when the engine stalled several times between shopping center and home. would restart ok but throttle would quit working again. after researching on the internet, we ordered a replacement throttle body and put it on ourselves rather than attempting to get ford dealer to do some sort of extension of warranty repair. no recall had been received for this problem. very dangerous situation when car loses power in heavy traffic so did not want to continue driving since the part was available and easy to replace. ford should issue a recall for these defective throttle body parts.
My check engine light came on and the error code is for a evap system leak. i took the car to a garage. they said there is most likely a small crack in the fuel delivery hose on the capless fuel system. however, to save money they said to go to a ford dealer because it could be under warranty or recalled. it is neither. the 2013 ford fusions were recalled for the delivery hose cracking. (recall no. 13504) now i cannot fill my tank up the whole way without gas leaking out. this is dangerous and i don't understand why my car would not be recalled when it has the same safety issues as the other 50,000 that they did recall.
Driving down interstate vehicle stopped responding. wrench light came on, diagnosed as faulty throttle body. *tr
My husband and i bought a 2011 ford fusion in december of 2012, it was used we bought it. i had 30,000 miles when we first drove it. we do regular maintenance on the car and never had a problem with it. it was not until it reached over the 50,000 miles he started to have problems with it. the check fuel inlet light keeps coming on about every other week after we put fuel in the vehicle. we read the manual, and did as it said to follow the steps as suggested. it works for a while but the message keeps coming back. this week, the motor service light come up, and it scared me to dead. i did some research and found out there is a whole lot of people with the same problem. i'm wondering how come they haven't made a recall. i don't want to take my car in to get it fix if its something that its defective and the car dealer must take care of it. thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Mpg was not adding up though it was just me than i would notice spots of gasoline on the floor and did a inspection and looked normal until filled gas a bit higher than half and started leaking.and some loss of steering would happen here and there and decided to inspect it to couple of codes would come up in a dtc test.
My vehicle stopped in the middle of traffic (several times), while driving 25 mph. it stopped with no pre warning signs. the car is only 3 years old and i only purchased it less than four months ago. this is very disheartening! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v793000 (fuel pump, gasoline), 14ve028000 (equipment), 16v384000 (air bags), and 15v340000 (steering). the parts needed for the repairs were not available. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. the contact called payne weslaco ford at (956) 619-6026 (2401 e expy 83, weslaco, tx 78599) and was informed that the parts were not available. the manufacturer was not contacted. the contact had not experienced a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available for nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v793000 (fuel pump, gasoline), 14ve028000 (equipment), 16v384000 (air bags), and 15v340000 (steering). the vin was not available.
I attempted to drive my car but it suddenly shut off and powered down when i pulled out of a parking lot of an establishment. i restarted my car and drove to my destination. this happened on 07/07/14. there were no indications of vehicle issue as no maintenance or warning lights came on. the next time this happened was on 07/11/14. this happened five times during a thirty minute period where the car would travel a mile and then would shut off. during this time when the car would shut off the maintenance light would come on when it shut off but not when it turned on and it had a rough ignition. this occurred again on 07/14/14. i attempted to take the car to work on 07/16/14 and the car shut off en route less than two miles from my home by shutting down and a maintenance light coming on. took the vehicle to a auto zone store in my area to have the computer checked for codes and code p2111 was the result. the repair needed was a throttle body for the vehicle. *tr
I own a 2011 ford fusion. while taking my child to a birthday party we noticed surges in power at no previous inclination of a problem. two days later i noticed the same surge in power as if the car wanted to speed up and slow down on its own. the problem progressed a few days later to surges in power and also my car then completely died at a red light. it is now four days later and the problem has rapidly increased to a problem of dying while driving down the road and dying while idling sitting in the drive way. this is a serious safety issue, a car should not accelerate and decelerate or completely die while driving down the road. i could possibly see a serious issue or accident occurring because of this problem. i have researched issues with my model of car and have seen several people have the same issue and share my concern. *tr
I was traveling 55 mph. suddenly lost rpm and engine started sputtering and within 5 second my car was dead in fast lane with no shoulder to pull over. cars braking hard behind me and honking. i was able to restart the car and moved to a gas station near by. took the car to an autozone. they read the engine light code p2111, which is an issue with throttle actuator. looked it up on google search. in my first search found hundreds of posting problem with this vehicle ford fusion 2011. the engine just goes dead no telling where and when. i was very lucky that did not get hit or lose control. imagine engine goes dead when you are traveling 55 mph or higher in a fast lane next thing you know, you are at complete stop with no brake or steering. see for yourself search for throttle body ford fusion. updated 11/24/2014 *js
Vehicle over accelerated when coming to a stop. i put both feet on brakes and shifted into park/neutral (has happened several times) and car accelerates to over 7000 rpm and automatically goes back down to normal. i have had the throttle body & motor assembly replaced (4/28/2014) yet it happened again immediately upon initial drive from ford dealership. dealership kept my car for 3 additional days and then advised that they could find nothing wrong and i was told (sales general manager) that what i was reporting to them "could not happen". *tr
During normal driving conditions and speed, the car just stopped being responsive to the acceleration pedal without warning, the maintenance wrench light came on, and the car started slowing down. i was able to turn on the hazard lights and pull over to a safe location, while cars were pulling up behind me very quickly. as the car was left idling it became very rough, like the car was missing. to correct the problem, i had to turn off the car, wait thirty seconds to a minute and start the car again. the car started a little rough but returned to normal operation. the maintenance wrench light was not illuminated and no other warning lights illuminated. this has happened twice so far about a month apart. the first time this happened the vehicle was less than three years old and only had 23,214 miles on it. luckily both times it happened on a local street and not on a highway. i consider this a safety and reliability problem. you have no idea when your car is going to just stop accelerating as you are driving. *tr
I was driving at low speed on a secondary street, going about 15 mph. suddenly, the vehicle became unresponsive to the gas pedal. the check engine light came on and the engine was alternating between surging and stalling. this was the 5th time this had happened to me since i purchased the car in september 2013. i pulled to the side of the road, took out my phone and made a video of what was happening. the video will show that the engine was non-reponsive, surging and stalling. however, when i shut off and re-stared the engine, the problem seemed to disappear. i had taken the car to ford a few weeks ago to have them service this problem, but they were unable to confirm that there was any problem. the did not charge me to check the car. they did not tell me about the throttle body problem at that time. after i made the video, i was at ford two days ago with our escape for an oil change and showed the video to the service manager. he told me that the problem is related to the throttle body and asked me to bring the car in for service. i have not been able to return to ford as of this time. *tr
This is a followup report. took my car to ford. they replaced the electronic throttle body at no charge. *tr
Car went into limp mode. lost almost all power. will move on flat road with limited rpm about 1000. no power and car shakes while moving. this repeat of what happen year back while driving at 40 mph - lost power. at that time dealer change throttle body to correct the problem. in less that year i see same systems and car is back to dealer. *tr
The error occurred as i was driving on a major 8-lane highway. i was about a quarter-mile from my exit (after being on the highway for 60 miles) when i felt a "clunk" and an orange-lit wrench appeared on my dash. as i turned onto the exit ramp, i slowed to a stop at a stop-light, waiting to turn left. while the brake was depressed, the car was attempting to move forward very abruptly, as part of it's "limp home" feature. when the light turned green, i released the brake and attempted to accelerate through the intersection, but pressing the gas pedal produced no response from the car. after limping through the intersection, i shifted the car into park and turned the engine off. after waiting 10-15 seconds, i restarted the car and the throttle issue and dash light were both gone. i have since driven ~100 miles without seeing the issue re-appear. *tr
I was driving in the pittsburgh area when my 2011 ford fusion lost acceleration. i was fortunate enough to be able to pull off into an abandoned car wash and out of heavy traffic. i shut the engine off and 30 seconds later was able to restart the car. i then drove 15 miles to my dealer. today on november 14 my dealer found a code indicating a problem with the electronic-throttle body which they replaced under warranty. they also cleaned the fuel system for which i was charged $137 because this was supposedly not covered under ford's warranty. i have a 2011 ford escape which can also have the same problem. needless to say this is cause for worry as i now can stall out in any one of two vehicles. this would appear to be a very serious problem with ford vehicles. *tr
We were going down a major roadway at about 45 mph when the car just decelerated to about 1 mph. it took us awhile to get over 2 lanes of heavy traffic to the side of road where we stopped the car. the wrench light came on. with it still running we popped open hood and car appeared to be running just fine. we could not get the rpm's to go up at all. we turned off car completely, and the wrench light went off and car drove normal. 2 hrs later the car did the exact same thing and we pulled over and started it up again and got home. we believe it has to do with the electronic throttle body, bc other complaints are exactly as ours with this year, make, and model of car. *tr
I was on my way to work yesterday morning (appx 7:30am so it was dark out) and i was slowing down with traffic (took pressure off the gas pedal) while crossing a bridge and when i went to accelerate again the car stopped moving and the wrench light lit up on the dashboard. my car was still running, but i had the gas pedal to the floor and the car would not move. when i realized i wasn't moving i hit the hazard button and braced myself for impact as cars were swerving around both sides of me. i put the car in park, shut it off, and tried to re-start it. it did not start right away, but when it did i revved the engine, put the car in gear and pulled off the road. i restarted the car again and proceeded to work. i learned that this is a common issue for this particular vehicle, yet it is not a recall issue at this point in time. based on my experience yesterday, it seems negligent that this particular issue has not yet warranted an action for a recall. i was fortunate that i reacted quickly and turned on the hazards and was not struck by another vehicle, especially being on a bridge over a body of water. *tr
I pulled out of my driveway and made it about 40 yards when the car lurched twice and shut off. i let it sit for a few minutes and started it back up. was able to go about a quarter of a mile and it died again. i called a tow truck because i was too afraid to try to drive it anywhere. luckily i was in my neighborhood and was not on a busy road or a highway like so many others have complained about. i was also very fortunate that i did not have my children with me - one who is currently recovering from surgery and cannot walk. after doing research and finding the very common issues with the fusion, i asked them to check the throttle when running the diagnostics. sure enough, that was the reason. $450+ after the repairs and the tow. my car only has 41,000 miles on it, but is unfortunately outside of the warranty period. ford should step up and pay for these repairs due to the dangerous and fatal issues that this problem can cause. i'm very nervous about this issue and am shocked that there is not a recall after so many reported incidents. i'm considering selling this car - i planned to keep it for many years, but my safety and my families is much more important. i would urge that there be a recall on this extremely serious and dangerous problem being experienced so frequently. *tr
Traveling at a steady speed and the engine cut out. not completely but had no acceleration control. have read on-line that this is called "limp" mode. was able to pull safely off the road and then restarted the car after which the vehicle operated ok. this has happened 3 times in the last week. took car to dealer who replaced the throttle body at no charge since the vehicle was still under warranty. although i was lucky enough to avoid an accident or injury, i could see this being a serious safety issue for a driver on the expressway or pulling in to heavy traffic. *tr
My wife had my 6 month old sign in the backseat when she was pulling out from a stop sign into a 4way when the car lurched and the accelerator quit responding in the middle of the street a truck nearly t boned her on the driver side where our son was in his car seat upon diagnostics the electronic throttle body was stuck open. i've found similar issues with similar vehicles although the dealership informed me my vehicle is not currently on a recall list. *tr
This issue is a big safety concern!! i have seen many statements online about the throttle body issue and their should be a recall!! i personally have had to have my car towed twice within a 2 week period because of this issue. every time my car broke down it was the same thing. i was going along fine and then the car all of a sudden dies, chugs, i drift to the side of the road so i don't get hit and then the engine light comes on with the wrench tool! how scary and unsafe! i am just so glad i wasn't in an intersection or hit by another car because my ford fusion decided to die out of no where! i have had to go through two tows, days of waiting for my car to get fixed and my warranty deciding they aren't going to cover my cost!! unbelievable!!! ford needs to take some action now! many people from what i have seen are going through the same thing and something needs to change. this issue shouldn't be on the customers shoulder and ford needs to take responsibility before someone is seriously injured from an issue their cars are making. please do something about this! *tr
This has happened multiple times varying from accelerating from a stop to highway speeds of 60+ mph. 2011 ford fusion sel suddenly loses all power and wrench icon illuminates and no acceleration happens at all. the engine remains at idle with fluctuations from 800-1200 rpms. had to cross multiple lanes and was almost ran into by three cars going a lot faster than me while i was listing to the emergency lane. once car is turned off and restarted the problem will go away. after much research and the one time it showed a check engine light i ran the codes and it all was pointing to a defective throttle body. i noticed that there are a lot of complaints with this aspect on this car and just hope someone doesn't have to get killed on the road like i almost did to get a recall on this car and part. *tr
I was driving home going 45 mph when my car stalled without warning. when i tried to give it gas, it started jumping and jerking the wrench light came on. i was able inch by inch to move my car to the adjacent turning lane, turn on my flashers and call my husband on my cell phone. he was on his way home also and pulled up behind me. he tried to give it gas too but it would not budge. he turned the ignition off and then cranked the car. the wrench light went off and the car had power - just like turning it off had reset something. we were only a couple of miles from our house, so he drove by 2011 ford fusion home and i followed in his truck. i then called my dealer, jim tidwell ford on barrett parkway and told them what had happened. they suggested that i call a wrecker and have it towed to their location as driving the car might due further damage or the incident might re-occur. so, that's what i did. a service technician called me first thing this morning and i went over what had happened with him. he called me this afternoon and said my car was ready for pick up. the problem was the throttle body and motor assembly and since it was under warranty there would be no charge to me. i can't believe ford isn't declaring a recall on this part. if i had been on the expressway, i feel certain i would have been rear ended. this problem will cause someone to get killed. i'm just lucky no one hit me. it happened so suddenly and without warning. this type of situation will make you fall out of love with your ford product. i don't believe i will ever buy a ford product again, even though i prefer to buy american products. *tr
On september 15, 2013 i was driving on a major surface street at approximately 35 miles per hour when the car just stopped working. completely powerless. i saw two lights on the dashboard: the battery and the oil. there may have been more but i was more focused on safety and oncoming traffic than the lights on the dash. i decided not to take a chance of getting rear ended (injured or killed) so at the first big break in traffic i safely exited the vehicle and walked over to the sidewalk (one lane over). a local apartment resident saw the incident and grabbed a safety cone to put behind my car as a warning. thankfully there were no accidents but there were some close calls and last minute lane changes as drivers came upon my car. i called ford roadside assistance and they sent a tow truck to get the vehicle. it started up perfectly for the driver, but i had it towed anyway. it has been at the dealer for two days. they have been unable to duplicate the situation and have received no "codes" to indicate a problem with the vehicle. they have called ford to ask for assistance and ford has asked them questions regarding lights going on, my speed at the time of the incident, how far i had been driving the car before the incident, etc. this is the second time i have had a problem with my 2011 fusion completely failing. the first time was in september 2012 when the throttle failed on the freeway. it was supposedly fixed. this time the lost of power did not feel like the throttle. it just stopped working. had power. didn't have power. i am extremely concerned that the dealer will find nothing wrong with the vehicle and it will be returned to me in an unsafe condition. others have reported this and similar issues. please get these vehicles recalled before someone loses a life.
I have been sensing a surge in engine power for several months in my 2011 fusion. i suspected a throttle body problem and googled for information. i found all of the information on the nhtsa website about throttle body problems for this car as well as information in other forums. it was a good thing as i was prepared for what happened today. i had just left my house when the dreaded (and expected) loss of engine power with the wrench light being illuminated. i experienced the same symptoms reported by so many complaints logged for this issue: loss of power, rough idle, just enough power to barely move the car, certainly not enough to limp anywhere, much less home, even though the engine was in "limp home" mode. i had my code scanner with me and was able to retrieve the p2111 (throttle stuck open) code before i restarted the car to restore full power. this only worked enough to get the car turned around when limp home was triggered again. i restarted again and was able to get within a block of my house when limp home triggered once more. the third time i was able to get to my house. i called the dealer and then roadside assistance to get my car towed to the local ford dealer after verifying that they had a throttle body in stock. the car was towed there and a defective throttle body was diagnosed and replaced. this is not a case of if the failure will happen, but rather when. i was fully expecting it any day and sure enough, it happened. i was extremely fortunate as i was less than a mile from home, knew what to expect and how to deal with it, and my car was still in warranty, but only by 1,806 miles! any other situation would have resulted in me being in a very dangerous predicament with a car that was basically dead in the water. i was almost to the point of purchasing a new throttle body on my own in the interest of being proactive rather than being stranded. *tr
I was driving 35mph when the vehicle lurched a couple of times and decelerated on its own to 2mph. no matter how much i pressed on the gas or let off on the gas, the vehicle stayed at 2mph. the "wrench" icon illuminated on the dash. the engine stayed mid-way between hot and cold, but the rpm's never got above 1 & 1/2. took the car to a dealer and found out that the throttle body is going out. i was so thankful i was not driving on the interstate at 70mph (or turning into traffic) when the deceleration suddenly occurred. i was powerless. *tr
Vehicle stalled out during highway speeds. took car to ford and they said it was the throttle body and it was not covered under warranty. *tr
My 11 fusion died in gear (lemp mode they call it) in the middle of an intersection where i was almost hit and stopped traffic for a good amount of time due to it being in gear and unable to move. after being towed to a dealer and being told it was my battery; i left the dealer paying for the tow, diagnostic and a battery. i went back a week later for an oil change and was told my car was in good running condition. around the corner from the dealership is the on ramp to go home. as i was accelerating up the on ramp to highway speed it went into lemp mode again leaving me with no power entering onto the highway. thank god the semi and other vehicles behind me were paying attention and avoided rear ending me at high speed. i was again towed around the block from to the dealer where they have informed me that it is my throttle body position sensor and is not covered under my extended warranty, or the federal emissions warranty. $600.00 later; i am trading this car in because it is not safe to be driving with this possibility of losing all power at a critical time. some one needs to have them account for this error and get these cars off the road. i was close to being killed because of this and sooner or later this will cause a death. *tr
Driving at 35 mph lost acceleration, engine idles but when gas peddle is pushed to the floor no power. called dealership and without hesitation i was told it was the throttle body and that it was a very common problem. cant believe this is not a safety recall. very dangerous and scary!!!! and of course car is no longer under warranty. i truly hope this does not happen to someone driving down a highway in heavy traffic. ford really, really needs to consider a recall, put money on it there will be multiple incidents in the very near future. i have also heard that ford is aware of the problem and changed the part number but are not recalling the original part.
As with most of the above filings, throttle body quit working while traveling, causing the gas to not function. turned on yield lights, and luckily there was a shoulder to pull onto. replaced the throttle body at a cost of the part $171, while the dealership offered to install for $600.00, an installation that takes literally five minutes. it seems ford is fully aware of this issue, and the safety hazards it causes, yet chooses to do nothing about it. *tr
I was driving on my way to work, driving about 55-60 mph and all of a sudden the car jerked and the throttle went off and the wrench light came on. everything still worked in the car but when i pressed on the gas, nothing happened. luckily i was near a turn off and i was able to coast onto the road and pull off. i turned my car off and back on, and was able to drive to a local dealership. they knew immediately what the problem was and said they could order the part but it would be few days. in the mean time i am just supposed to pull over and turn my car off and on if it happens again. i have an hour commute to work in the morning driving in several lane interstate traffic and this could be really scary if it were to happen then. especially with all of the semi trucks that i am traveling with at high speeds. it is also our family car so i am scared to drive with my family in the car.
While driving at low speed, the vehicle slowed and stopped, requiring me to pull off the road. the engine remained running, but at a very low rpm - applying gas did nothing to rev the engine. after turning the vehicle off, i was able to restart it and limp it home. the next time i drove it, approximately 3 days later, it acted similarly, threatening to cut off when not applying gas. i took it to the ford dealer for diagnosis and was immediately told this was probably a "throttle body" problem. the dealer confirmed this the next day and placed an order for the part. the part is on back order, i suppose due to the demand for correction on this part. i left the vehicle with the dealer for the 5-7 business days needed to get the part as i was not comfortable driving the vehicle without the repair. thankfully it is still under warranty. i understand this is a $500+ part. *tr
My 2011 ford fusion, which i purchased only a few months ago... lost speed while driving home from work today. i'm still shaky and upset. i was a very busy 2lane up/2lane down avenue when my vehicle lost speed! i was in the inner lane and had to decide if i wanted the delivery truck to hit me from behind or risk side swiping someone in hope of getting off the road before i slowed completed. through the grace of god i was able to make two hard rights before my fusion began to stop, shake, and sputter. the first hard right was into the right lane in front of another car then onto the side street. my goodness never been so scared in life except the next two time it did while still trying to make it home. this time though, i knew to stay in the left lane. i also relied on the fact that once you get to a safe place and turn the engine off and on again it starts back up!!! i'm scared of my car! and scared for my life and others that this vehicle malfunction may affect during my commutes. i'm going on the record as saying if i die in my 2011 ford fusion during an accident single/multi vehicle please do a forensic check on the throttle! *tr
This is a known issue with 2011 and other model ford fusions and other model ford cars. according to the media, on oct 2nd 2012 nhtsa created a defect petition to open an investigation on escape and fusion vehicles. i was traveling on over the chesapeake bay bridge on i50 in morning traffic ata ~ 60 mph when all of a sudden my fusion lost complete power. this caused a hazardous situation. i then had to 'limp' over a mile up the to the top of the bridge at less than 5 mph until i could put the vehicle in neutral and coast down the other side. myself and numerous other vehicles were subjected to a hazardous condition when this occurred. later troubleshooting revealed my problem was the well known 'fusion throttle body issue' currently under investigation. local ford dealer al packard in white marsh md service dept confirmed the issue as the '2111' fault and problem. after reading all of the details on this problem on the internet, i discussed the matter at length with local and national ford customer service people. although this is a well known issue, ford has no customer warranty program in place for this dangerous problem, nor is it covered until their power train warranty. there needs to be a recall warranty program and have this problem fixed before more people get hurt. in my case i witnessed numerous unsafe conditions while i was limping up the bridge for 20 minutes. the situation could have caused a terrible accident on the chesapeake bay bridge. i work as a flight safety product support manager for a major aircraft engine manufacturer. any loss of thrust control issue is handled as a safety issue and recall programs are put in place. the same needs to occur here. my brother who also owns a 2010 fusion had a similar issue where he has lost complete power while traveling ~65 mph in interstate traffic. *tr
Car keeps displaying check fuel fill inlet, now check engine light is on. while filling tank at local gas station strong smell of fuel around and inside of car. this has happened on more than one occasion. obd ii reads code p0455. this is unsafe in many ways, explosives are to dangerous to mess with. no resolution from ford motor company on this issue. *tr
On thursday 8/22/13, i was driving about 55 mph on the highway and i experienced what seemed like an engine stall. my 2011 fusion would not accelerate so i pulled off the side and my car started shaking so i turned it off. i waited a bit and started it back up and kept driving. i could still feel a lag when i stepped on the gas. i had a mechanic look at the car but he could not find any issues. on saturday 8/24/13, the same issue happened to me 3 times within a 4 hour span. i poured in some seafoam to rule out any moisture that may be in the engine. i did some research online and discovered others have had similar issues that have all been linked to a faulty throttle body. on sunday 8/25/13, the issue happened twice during the day. today i finally took my car to the ford dealership and told them what i was experiencing and told them that i think it is the throttle body. the guy told me that they would not know until the computer displayed the error code. several hours later i received a call from the dealership telling me it is a faulty throttle body and the repair would cost $650. if this is a known issue, why hasn't a recall been issued? *tr
I am writing in regards to an issue with my 2011 ford fusion. on august 21, 2013 i was driving at 70 mph on a busy hwy when it felt as if my car had completely shut off. i had absolutely no accelerator. i found myself coasting in traffic. i managed to put on the hazards and merge to the shoulder without being hit, thankfully. once over i shut off the car and after a minute started it back up and it was as if nothing had happened. thinking this was some kind of fluke we continued to drive the car. it happened again 3 days later, again in very heavy traffic on a main highway at 65 mph. again we were fortunate enough to be able to pull off without being hit. internet research showed that this was a very common problem with this car and the dealer knew exactly what was wrong with it upon hearing our story. a defective throttle body. he said ours was the third one being dropped off that same day for the same problem. we were very disappointed to hear that there is no recall on this part considering how dangerous the situation is. there have been numerous accidents due to this defective part, yet still no recall. even worse is that ford isn't even covering the cost of replacing it under the engine warranty, we had to pay for it. does someone actually have to die in one of these accidents before a recall is done?? *js
While driving the car shuddered, lost power, had no gas peddle response and ran very rough. put car in park and shut off. turned ignition, car turned over for 10-15 seconds as if starving for fuel. finally caught and ran for about 2 miles, then happened again. in a span of 4 miles it did this three times. a few days later it did the same thing 3 times in a matter of about 10 miles. that time was on the highway doing 65 mph.
