Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2011 Ford Fusion

While driving at highway speed on an incline, the car lost all propulsion power. after several seconds, the check engine wrench light turned on and i pulled over to the side. shutting down the vehicle, waiting 1 minute and restarting cleared the check engine light and restored power. the same thing happened 6 weeks later, while idling at a traffic light. after restarting, the system failed again 2 minutes later while driving on level road at 15 mph. the car rested for 2 hours and was then driven without incident to the dealer for repairs. the service technician performed eec test, ppt and component tests, then replaced the throttle body. no subsequent incidents after 1 week. *tr

I was driving on the highway with my cruise control on, when suddenly the wrench light came on the dash and the car began to slow down, no power. i had to move from the fast lane over to the slow lane to get off the side of the road. there was a very rough idle. there were many cars around and so it was a dangerous situation. i called the ford store and they said to shut the engine off and restart the car. i did, and it started, drove it to the ford store, and dropped it off. the car did not store any codes, so the educated guess is that it is the throttle body. they say it isn't covered under the original warranty, but is under my extended warranty. it sounds like this is a big problem and should just be recalled by ford. *tr

Vehicle began to shake, would not accelerate, wrench light came on. *tr

Driving on the highway at a rate of 70 mph with traffic behind and ahead of me, i lost power and the car went into limp mode. the wrench light and check engine light went on. i could no longer speed up and began to lose speed (rather quickly i might add) the car immediately behind me came very close to colliding with me! i couldn't go faster than 30 mph and had to pull over on the shoulder of the highway. i turned the car off and when i tried to turn it back on, it took an oddly longer amount of time to turn on. (like holding the key turned in the ignition) then sitting at a traffic light, when i started to go when it turned green, i was going 5 mph and the rpm's shot up to 3000 rpm! under 40 mph, it was up near 3000 rpm! ford, please examine this again! this is dangerous! why wait until an accident actually happens? *tr

As i was driving down a crowded highway the vehicle lost power and refused to accelerate. it was later determined that the throttle body had malfunctioned. *tr

My car lost power and we had to pull over to the side of the road. eventually i got it started again, limped to a ford dealership, and was charged $591 for a throttle body replacement. *tr

While driving, engine completely loses power and wrench light illuminates on dashboard. pull off of road and stop car and really rough idle. turn engine off and restart and wrench light goes out. engine runs fine after. this continues to occur on intermittent basis. sometimes happens 3-4 times within about 10 miles. other times it has gone hundreds of miles between incidents. *tr

While driving my 2011 fusion on the road at 55 mph, the engine suddenly quit and the wrench light came on. the slowdown was fast, and i could have been hit from behind very easily, but i lucked out because the person behind me took notice of my drastic drop in speed. i coasted off to the side of the road, turned off the car, waited a few moments and then restarted the engine. fortunately i got home ok, so i thought is was maybe a fluke occurrence. when i left for work the next morning, the same thing happened as i was driving; same road, same speed, same wrench light, etc. when i got the car restarted, i took it to the local ford dealer. they thought they had fixed the problem with a relay switch(?), but once again, the engine quit while i was driving back to work that same morning. this time more than the wrench light lit up. i went through the restart routine again, but this time it was not a very smooth start - i did not think it was going to start, but it did, and i took it back to the dealership again where they are currently trying to figure out what the problem is. this is a considerable safety hazard to anyone traveling with me and/or driving my car, and an unsafe environment for those driving near me. my car has been at the dealership most of the day now, and no word on the problem or rectification thereof. i am extremely concerned and very worried this issue will "mushroom". *tr

While driving at highway speeds, the engine will go into a very violent idle and the throttle will become un-responsive and an orange wrench light will come on the dash. this has happened twice now in a week and is very dangerous when it happens. you have to try and navigate through traffic to get off the highway while coasting only since you can't give it any gas. ford has to know about this issue since its everywhere online and everywhere on this website. it is a very serious issue and needs to be fixed. ford won't fix it under the power train warranty even though its a critical part of making the vehicle go. *tr

Driving a 2011 ford fusion sel awd 3.0l 6-cyl traveling approx. 65mph on interstate 88, vehicle shuddered, wrench light lit and no throttle control. no power. i nearly was rear ended due to significant speed reduction. re-cycle of the engine causes the light to go out and you can continue on your drive. an identical event (set of symptoms) happened in traffic two weeks earlier at approx 20mph after leaving a stop light. i experienced a loss of all power in traffic causing my car to nearly be struck. when recycling the engine, the code that causes the wrench light to come on is re-set and ford is unable to detect the error and refuses to correct the problem. there is significant evidence on the internet that these symptoms are pointing to a failure in the throttle body (electronic throttle control). i feel that this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately by ford who needs to diagnose by symptom as well as by code. their software does not preserve a safety critical code across vehicle re-starts which is a major issue in my opinion. ford warranty does not want to recognize the issue or replace the "throttle body" without a code being captured but their software is not designed to preserve the code (catch 22). *tr

While driving on the freeway, the engine stalled. a wrench symbol came on the dashboard. the car started lurching forward and was nearly hit by two other vehicles from the rear. i was able to stop. i turned off the engine and after a few tries, the car started up again. this has occurred at least another 20 times since then. i've spoken with ford over the phone repeatedly and explained that there are numerous web sites discussing this as a throttle body problem. but ford refuses to acknowledge the problem and have told me that they're not even sure if it would be covered under the power train warranty. *tr

Was driving 50 mph when acceleration was lost and car stalled. pulled over and turned car off. turned car back on and preceded for 10 minutes when the same incident happened again, this time in a major intersection. was able to pull off the road safely. turned car off and on again and drove for a while longer. incident happened again. took car to ford dealership. was told that it was a bad throttle body and it was replaced. *tr

First incident when at a complete stop car physically jerking and jumping unless in park with engine light on..had ford roadside to tow to fairway ford kingsport where car was purchased where i was told it appeared to be the muffler and throttle body. when p/u car they had replaced cam solenoid switch and muffler. car still had a loud vibration noise when on incline. *tr

Background: i am a member of the us military stationed overseas, so it's a little harder to do maintenance on vehicles.... i purchased a ford fusion last year understanding it was a vehicle i wouldn't have to do much maintenance on for the next few years besides the basic oil, coolant, brake fluid, and filter checks. for the last year it had no problems until yesterday. i was driving home and came to a busy intersection where i had to turn left from a stop. 1 1/2 seconds into the turn (about 6 mph) my throttle cut off, the wrench light came on and i was coasting about 4 mph through the intersection with oncoming traffic... not an experience you want to have in a foreign country. i got through the intersection, pulled over and noticed my engine was wavering in rpm's from around 1000-2500. i turned off my car, waited about 2 minutes and turned it back on to notice it didn't turn over like the other hundreds of other times it did in the past year. it took about 6-7 seconds of the engine cranking to get it to run. i took it home and it sat overnight in my carport. today it happened again at a 4 way stop. i would love to know if ford is going to do something about this issue. i have read multiple posts and a ton of other people are having the same problem. now it seems i need to replace my throttle body which is not going to be cheap. there comes a time where the dealer needs to step in, especially if it is putting people at risk..... *tr

Made 10 mi trip to school. 1/2 - 1 hr later, made 1/2 mi trip to store. on return to school on highway lost throttle response until car was turned off and restarted. (wrench light on dash displayed.) 2 hrs later, lost throttle response when turning onto highway from school. car responded as normal after restart. ford dealership replaced etb, a71, gasket, and throttle body. car has returned to normal function. *tr

The transmission shifts hard/jerks between 2nd and 3rd gear frequently. it also shifts hard/jerks when lowering speed in heavy traffic situations. *tr

Car was hesitating and shifting roughly. ford dealership performed tsb 11-9-9 to reset power control module. on 10/19/12 car died with no warning while driving my son to school. part #ds7z 9e926 a throttle body was replaced. on 11/12/12 took car in because it was still shifting rough and hesitating. ford couldn't verify my concern and had no codes so they did nothing. on 02/07/13 my car died again while driving down the road. ford replaced part #ds7z 9e926 a throttle body again. the car is still shifting rough and not right. ford needs to address the concern immediately before someone gets killed. it is terrifying to be driving and to lose all power and acceleration. *tr

While entering interstate 275 south on ramp in tampa, fl my car abruptly stopped responding to the gas pedal and the little wrench light came on. all i could do is coast to a stop on the side of the road. once my speed slowed to around 5 to 10 miles per hour, the car began to jerk and shake. i put it in park, turned it off and restarted the engine, and it worked like normal for about another month or so until it happened again while i was turning right on red on a major 5 line street. since then it has happened at least 20 times and has become increasingly more frequent. after a little research on the web, it seems hundreds of people are describing the exact same problem. i mean exactly in every way except for the speeds and locations. the oldest model that i recall seeing this problem described about online is a 2010 with only 15000 miles on it. this is a potentially very dangerous issue, that in my opinion, needs to be fixed. when i was making that right turn, the car just stopped in the middle of the road and i had to quickly restart the engine and floor it to avoid causing an accident. *tr

It has happened before to my wife on two other occasions. so i took the car out and drove it around and was coming back home and after turning onto our rode and got up to 45 mph the wrench light and the check engine light came on and loss all power. step on the gas pedal and there was nothing. rolled over to the shoulder and put in park and waited for a couple of minutes and restarted it. went about another 300 yards and it did it again. did some research on the internet and ford has been having this problem with the fusion and there other cars like the escape. they all came down to the throttle body being bad and had to be replaced. but my question is if they have been having this problem for awhile why hasn't ford or someone put a recall on these throttle body's. this can cause a serious accident if a person is going down the highway and this occurs the person could be possibly rear ended. *tr *js

While driving in the center lane on the southbound i-5 freeway my 2011 ford fusion began to feel like it was driving through mud and lost acceleration. when i attempted to compensate by accelerating the car, it resisted and continued to slow significantly. thankfully traffic was not extremely heavy at the time and i was close to a freeway exit. i pulled to the right, avoiding oncoming traffic (barely) and coasted down the off ramp. by the time i got to the off ramp (about 10 seconds) the car had gone from 65 mph to less than 5 mph. if it wasn't for the momentum of the vehicle i would not have been able to make it and would have been at a dead stop in the middle of the freeway with oncoming traffic (and semi trucks) going between 60 and 75 mph. the engine was throbbing, the car was shaking, and i had no acceleration capability at all. i had enough momentum on the off ramp downslope to turn right and stop my vehicle at the side of the road. i called a tow truck and the car was taken to a dealership for repairs. i was told the throttle was the problem and it was replaced under warranty. had timing not been exactly right, this problem could have caused a very serious or even deadly accident for me and for other drivers on the road. i have since learned about this ongoing issue online and wish i would have known at the time that it was a problem and known how / that i could submit a concern to the nhtsa.

I turned right and accelerated to 10 miles. the wrench light came on and the car stalled and i could no longer accelerate. i put the car in manual and was only able to go 2 mph i found a safe place to pull over and shut off the car. i turned it bck on and i was able to accelerate and ha no further issues. how the car has done it 3 times since. this is extremely dangerous if in high traffic areas. *tr

While driving ~55mph in left lane of a 3-lane interstate at morning rush hour, the engine lost power, continued running at ~1000rpm, but would not accelerate. the check engine and wrench lights were on. the car was nearly hit by numerous vehicles as i coasted to the emergency lane on the right side of the expressway. the engine was shut off, then restarted, and it was ok for several miles. the same scenario was repeated twice while driving to a nearby dealer. the throttle body was replaced at a cost of $650 since it was out of warranty. service personnel told me that they had seen several of these same problems on fusions. this one dealer is most likely representative of others, so there must be a very large number of these problems occurring in nearly new vehicles. why hasn't ford, where quality used to be job one, issued a recall? this car has been otherwise flawless up to this point. *tr

Nothing actually happened yet. this morning on my way to work, my vehicle seemed like it was ready to accelerate without me pressing the gas. i was at a stoplight, then i noticed my vehicle was trying to take off on it's own. it was giving slight jerks to go forward. first time i experienced this. i will be contacting ford about this issue today, although they will tell me "we can't do anything until a light comes on." *tr

1st time engine @ 60 mph just shut down, came to stop, restarted and thought all ok, thinking maybe bad gas. 2nd time wife driving, while making turn in front of traffic engine just quit again, came to stop and was able to restart. next day decided to try to drive to dealer. engine quit 3 more times while driving to local ford dealer. they said they could not even look at it for 6 days. drove home, engine stopped one more time. i finally i had it towed to dealer 30 miles away. good news: they quickly diagnosed as a throttle body assembly bad news it would take 3-4 weeks for them to obtain part as so many, many fords were experiencing the same problem..i had to rent a vehicle ..very dangerous situation and this should absolutely be a recall from ford. i have gotten no where with the dealer or so called "customer service"..i was told by the 800 cs dept that they had never heard of this problem. i go on-line and find hundreds and hundreds of complaints with the exact same issue. i want reimbursement (i have all my out of pockets costs and receipts) and a formal apology. *js

Traveling at freeway speed, engine suddenly lost all power and reverted to idle rpm. engine was idling roughly, and pressing on accelerator would not increase rpms. the "wrench" (check engine) light was illuminated. was able to coast downhill to exit freeway; very unsafe condition. switched off engine, restarted engine ... and it ran normal; "wrench" light extinguished. took car to walnut creek ford following morning; they said no fault code was recorded on the cars computer and they could not replicate problem. service rep told me ford had no records of any previous problems of this nature, so i should just keep driving the car. i told him that was unsafe, and he replied there was nothing else he could do. he said he "could not just throw parts at an unknown problem"'. same problem occurred on nov 01, 2012. i did an on-line search on various ford fusion forums and found multiple reports of this same situation with v6 engine attributed to throttle body housing. immediately took car to walnut creek ford and told service manager i would not accept the car until it was repaired. showed him copies of multiple on-line reports of same problem and told him his rep had lied during my previous visit about ford not knowing of any previous reported problems. service manager replied that "on-line reports are not always real", but said he would have his best mechanic check my car. mechanic found defective throttle body housing and replaced. have not had recurrence of the engine failure. *tr

I read where the nhtsa was looking into issues with ford engines from 2009-2011 in fusions & escapes. thought i would relay my incident. traveling about 55-60 mph, the vehicle suddenly and without warning slowed to a crawl on a busy highway. we were able to nurse the car to the side of the road. noticed a amber "wrench" warning light. turned off the vehicle and re-started it. we were able to get the vehicle home under normal operating conditions. since it was a very hot day, just assumed it was heat related. happened 2 more times that week-end (at lower speeds in parking lots). took it to the dealer, but they could not duplicate the problem and could not get an error code. seems like the light has to actually be on. the dealer replaced the throttle body (under warranty). have not experienced another incident since, however the gears seem to shift much harder now, though not constant. it's a great vehicle, but i always have that power loss in my mind, praying it wont occur again. *tr

Pulling into traffic car lost all throttle control wrench light came on engine still running started surging or idled up and down had to put in park and restart acted like nothing happened! next day died twice more engine light on this time stayed on all day then went off and no code found went a week or so no issue till yesterday 7/23/2011 did it twice almost hit in rear twice! it only has 37000 miles help us they want even look until it shows a code! but may b too late then!! *tr

Pulled up to mcdonald's, put in park, took orders from other people in auto. got out of auto took another order from passengers, left running, went into mcdonald's stood in line, when up to counter to order food, some yelled " that car is rolling backwards, it was my sisters 2011 fusion, it was put in gear before we went into restaurant it jumped out of gear and rolled back into the side of a white truck. took the car to ford and the person said it is was not possible for that to happen, but it did. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the vehicle attempted to shift from second to third gear with an abnormally hard jerking motion. the contact stated that the failure recurred a few moments later and the transmission slipped. the contact moved the vehicle to the side of the road to shift into park and noticed that the vehicle was shaking and idling very hard. the contact proceeded to drive and the failure recurred. the contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection. the dealer informed the contact that the cause of the failure was unknown. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 32,033.

My sister was driving my 2011 ford fusion to go out of town , when getting back into town, she pulled into macdonalds, put shift in park. while sitting in car, we were taking food orders from passengers, one in front passenger side of car and one in back passenger side. we, my sister who was driving and i who own the car, got out of autombile , we went into macdonalds stood in line, when we got up to the counter to order, someone yelled " that car is rolling backwards" and the car rolled backwards into the side of a white truck, damanging the passenger side door on the truck, no damage on ford fusion. the car was running as to leave the air conditioner on because it was so hot out. i was in the resturant and not even near the ford fusion at the time of roll back. i have been driving for over 53 years and know when a car is in gear, this ford fusion jumped out of gear somehow, it was in gear. even where it was parked was on a small incline. when taking the ford fusion to ford dealers, i was told that it could'nt have jumped out of gear, it had to have not been in park. now remember this car was running with the air on, didn't roll back when we were taking orders for food, and then we stood in line in the resturant befor the car rolled backwards. this was reported as an accident on my sister's insurance, how can this be , how do they know i wasn't going to drive my car the rest of the way home,we were only 1 mile from home. and besides the car didn't even roll back for aproxmontey 6 minutes. this has to be reported as so it doesn't happen to anyone else. *tr

2011 ford fusion -while driving on the interstate at 70 mph, vehicle suddenly lost acceleration, tachometer started going up and down, traction light came on,fuel gage going up and down, a lock light was illuminated, bells were going off and car began to de-accelerate. when i pulled the car to the shoulder turned the car off and back on the problem continued. i immediately drove to the ford dealer which was close by at the time and had the manager view what was happening. he pulled the car into the shop, shut off the engine and it never restarted. this could have caused a serious accident if i was not able to react as quickly as i did. the car has only 37000 miles. this problem has been intermittently occurring in this vehicle for a year now. when it first started to occur i could turn off the engine and turn it back on and the problem would clear, but not now! the car is not safe! when is ford going to recall this car!!! *tr

I bought my car on december, 2011. 1st problem was the dashboard turning off for no reason. the 2nd problem is life threatening. i am driving down the road and out of no where the dash board lights up, the readers go crazy, and my car will decelerate to 25mph and will not go over that speed. every time i have had to pull over and when i do the car shakes. i turned my car off and when i turn it back on its like it never happened. no lights stay on and the car drives like a champ. it does it at random times, and random speeds. i took the car to a ford dealership in may 2012 and they could not find a problem with it. this happened 3 times and in august i took the car in twice, the first time nothing was found, the second time they change the throttle body on it. problem fixed right?? not even close. in november it did it again. i called the dealer but they could not see my car for a few days and didn't have any loaner vehicles. the car then began to randomly jerk at a stop lights or when i changed gears. this week the flare up happened again but this time the car jerked when i put it in drive and the engine light and wrench light both turned on. i continued to drive and right when i started going up a hill the dashboard lit up, the readers went crazy and my car started rolling backwards. i was able to break but when i pushed on the gas the car barely crept up the hill. the wrench light then turned off but the engine light stayed on. the next morning i took it to the dealer. when i took it in the engine light was on but when they checked it the engine light was off and there were no codes on the computer. i am scared of the car i am driving. i know the car has a problem and so does the dealer but they just can't figure out what the problem is. i called ford but all they said was that they were working with the dealer. i am paying for a car i can't drive. *tr

Today when turning into a parking space with my right foot lightly on the brake, my car suddenly accelerated. i quickly turned the wheel and braked to avoid hitting a cement post. two weeks ago when going up a hill without my cruise control on, the car would not accelerate when i was pushing on the gas pedal. i released the pedal and the car lurched forward so fast i had to brake. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, there was an increase in the engine rpms and the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. the failure occurred intermittently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer five different times. the technicians were unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 200.

2011 ford fusion. consumer states while traveling vehicle lost power on three separate occasions *tgw the consumer stated when he pulled over to the side of the road, the vehicle vibrated as it idled. the consumer turned off the ignition, waited a few seconds and then started the vehicle. each time the vehicle ran normally after he restarted it. in addition to the problem, the transmission slipped on two different occasions. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, but they were unable to diagnose a problem. *jb

Driving on the highway in clermont fl. when car suddenly lost power, fortunately i was able to pull off the road, car was shaking and sputtering and the wrench light came on.shut the car off and then restarted it, it will run sometimes fine for a few days then it will happen again, sometime two or three times in one day.i pick up my grandchildren from school and sometimes work late at night. this is a serious safety problem, what is ford waiting for to recall this vehicle, for someone to be injured or killed?they need to fix this dangerous problem. *tr

On september 15, 2011 i was driving my 5 month old 2011 ford fusion hybrid with 5700 miles on it when a brake warning light came on and a warning tone sounded in my vehicle. i pulled over and stopped the vehicle. i called walker ford in clearwater and they said it probably was only a defective rear brake light and bring it in when you have time. i restarted my vehicle and the warning light and tone were gone. i continued driving home and when i was almost home, the brake warning light came on again and so did the warning tone. but this time i noticed my estimated miles per gallon on the onboard computer system was going up and down and the vehicle no longer went into the electric hybrid mode. i called walker ford and told them i was going to bring the vehicle in on the morning of september 16th. i brought it in and all day long they troubleshoot it and walker ford could not figure out what was wrong with it. they put a call into the ford technician hotline to find out what was wrong with the vehicle. at the end of the day they did not hear back from the hotline and i needed a vehicle to get home. walker ford wanted to give my vehicle back to me to drive home and use over the weekend. i refused saying that the manual said to bring the vehicle in for service for the brake warning light and the electric/hybrid system not working. nothing in the manual said to continue driving the vehicle. so walker ford finally gave me a loaner to drive. monday september 19th they got an answer from the hotline and it said a vacuum hose/assembly was bad and they put one on order. the next day the part was not delivered but a notice that the part was not available but back ordered and it would become available sometime around october 14th. i contacted ford customer service and made a complaint case # [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

The vehicle when driven either does not shift correctly out of gear, doesn't maintain the right gear, and has a violet upshift and downshift reaction when increasing or decreasing speed.it has been at ford service garage for over a month, and they cannot find the problem, or a solution. ford engineers have came down and looked at the car. they also cannot find a solution to fix the problems with the car. they have replaced numerous parts in the transmission, and moved on to replacing spark plugs and egr valve in the engine. *tr

When pulling into traffic with my vehicle the transmission slips between second and third gear the car slows and hesitates allowing traffic to come up abruptly from behind. there is no warning no stop lights on so traffic is unaware that the vehicle is slowing. *tr

Transmission slams into third gear first time you drive it each day. does not matter if it is morning, afternoon or night. this has been an issue from the first day i bought the car. i took it back to the dealership i bought it and was told to drive it... it would work it's way out. i have had it in 6 times since... last time they told me there was nothing they could do until ford came out with a new fix. ford has already had two updates that do not work. i have filed a lemon law with ford... and have the bbb information to file out as well. i was supposed to hear back today, but did not... i called 3x's left a message twice. *tr

I was traveling about 35 to 40mph when the car starting acting up. anytime i had to slow down and then speed up the rpm would not shift, when it did shift it would jerk the car forward. i also have been having an issue where i would step on the gas and it would act as if it was in neutral. this continues to happen and i fear that one of these times i will be in an accident with my kids in the car. these are all transmission issues, i have brought it in twice now first time they did the tsb which was to reset the pcm and my ac wasn't and still is not working. resetting the pcm did not work so now back in the shop it sits. this car is only 4 months old and already has safety issues being the transmission. there needs to be a recall before there are deaths.

Automatic transmission shifting is unpredictable. 1-2 and 2-3 gear shift will rev at high rpm and slam into gear. merging into traffic or at any intersection where cross traffic does not stop is very dangerous as acceleration is non-existent until it slams hard into gear. the car has done this from 1st week of ownership. besides safety issue, the transmission at this rate will not last long. this issue is mainly present when 1) cold or 2) after the car has sit for a couple days making it difficult for the dealer to act on anything. this is a very well known problem with 2010 ford fusions and now many people are complaining of this issue with the 2011 fusion (not the sport model as it uses different transmission). *tr

Check my name ~ since i had my 3 fusion 11 ~ the same patterns have continued/ i almost lost my life in 2011. 2013 and 14 because of the huge transmission problems i have written proff that clearly explains the problem ~ so your " salesmen?" and " ford" in detroit refused to recognize that i even had a problem. why would any clear thinking person dream up a story like this ~ so i am here to "tell the story" because i could have been killed ~ think of this happening to your sweet grandmother !!!! yes, think and let me know because i am sending it to bloomberg and the los angeles times! the longer you wait the sooner i will call my lawyer who specializes in " criminal law" ~ that fits. so let's be far to the people you are supposed to serve and get this lemon law worthy issue solved! the part may cost $ 50 put think of chevy because ford fusions when you stop hiding the problem ~ fix it now!!!! get back to me in written and i will keep this note that i will send to every newspaper around! *tr

The transmission seized while traveling at 60 miles per hour, causing rapid deceleration while on highway. shortly after coming to a stop on the side of the road, the transmission failed to engage, despite engine running. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact was on a steep incline and shifted the gear selector into the reverse; suddenly the vehicle rolled forward 6-8 feet. the contact engaged the brakes with force repeatedly before the vehicle came to a complete stop. the failure recurred when the contact shifted into drive, the vehicle traveled in reverse. the contact notified the dealer who stated that the vehicle functioned as designed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. the contact was in the process of taking the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the failure mileage was 1,800. updated 06/16/11*lj the consumer also stated the engine would stall. ford stated it was a normal operating characteristic of the vehicle due to the redesign of the torque converter. updated 06/22/11 *tr

2011 ford fusion sel ,. while driving on a cold start, pulling out of neighborhood (less than 1 block), car jerked forward, transmission would not shift, then shifted like you were on a washboard and jerked forward harshly while trying to shift into gear. this happened with less than 300 miles on vehicle. numerous times thereafter, while car was driven for miles at high rate of speed, when driving afterward at lower speeds car would do the same. example, driving back from florida in north carolina, caught up in a 4 mile long backup, stop and go traffic, while rolling forward without foot on gas to go a few feet, traffic cleared for about a block, put foot on gas to go forward, transmission again felt like it was on a washboard, tried shifting with a jerking motion and when it did, jerked hard before final shift. this also happens when i am rolling to a stop for a stop light, which then turns green before a full stop, put the foot on the gas and the same transmission problems occur. as of 4/20/11 i have just 2800 miles on this vehicle. called dealership that i purchased car from and am scheduled to have it looked at. no indication from service advisor that they know anything about prior transmission problems that have been reported on the 2010. had i known this prior to purchasing (after 20 years of no problems with hondas) i would not have purchased vehicle. *tr

Car started rough, had very little power when pulling out of garage and the wrench light came on. i could hardly make it to the next drive. put in reverse and put car back in garage. when i took it into ford for service there were no codes but they updated the computer hoping it would fix the glitch. on april 4, 2011 it happened again. this time i was stopped at a light on a highway when i gave it gas it started forward, the wrench light came on and once again little to no power when pressing on the accelerator. (i was lucky to not get rear-ended.) i out on the hazards and slowly coasted into a parking lot. i called ford and had it towed back to the dealer. this time it threw codes so they were able to determine the issue which was the throttle body and it was replaced. (thankfully this was all under warranty.) this is a very dangerous issue. i was 3 lights away from getting onto the interstate during rush hour traffic. i hate to think what would have happened if this had occurred on the interstate. *tr

When this vehicle has not been driven for 24 hours, driving it the next day will cause tranmission flaring. specifically, when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear (approx. at 25 mph), it goes to neutral and then backs into 3rd with a jump. the tachometer registers the jump in rev's as it goes to neutral. vehicle has been to ford dealer 4 times and still has the same problem. ford has a tsb 11-9-9 that explains the problem with their idea of a fix. the fix has been applied with no difference. *tr

2011 ford fusion sel i didn't drive the vehicle for two days when i started vehicle i pulled out in traffic i pressed on the gas pedal. the car revved to over 5000 rpm's, and didn't accelerate. the transmission slipped so badly that i almost got rearended by another vehicle. the car has 1400 miles on it, and it did this one other time when the vehicle was cold. this can be a very dangerous situation if you are merging or pulling into traffic. the first incident i thought that the transmission was adjusting to driving style, and it wasn't as severe. the vehicle seems to do this only when it is cold. *tr

Transmission originally blew up @ 2,900 miles. transmission now (10,000 miles) looses forward momentum under acceleration (30 mph) and then has violent shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. defect presents significant issue presenting an opportunity for the vehicle to either be rearended with loss of forward momentum or for the driver lose control at violent upshift. dealership has attempted repair 3 times. dealership has now installed data recorded and returned vehicle with instruction to owner to record diagnostic information when the defect recurs. symptoms have been replicated / confirmed by multiple ford representatives on multiple occasions. no root cause identified, no permanent corrective action implemented. *tr
