We have classified the 245 complaints from 2011 Ford Fusion about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
My wife was driving and i was her passenger on miller park highway on the 18th when all of a sudden the car jerks forward on us, it starts sputtering like it was going to choke out, my wife then tried to get on the should when she noticed that the cars accelerator went all the way to the floor without any response from the car. traffic was flying by us as the cars engine brake continued to slow us way way down. we were able to use the brakes. my wife finally got over to the side, turned on her hazards and turn off the car. we both sat on the side off roadway and i had to calm down my wife due to the fact hat she thought she was going to be in an accident. after a few minutes we turned on the car and the "wrentch" alert re-set itself and we were able to drive. my wife and i used to feel safe in our ford fusion, but unfortunately now we don't have any safe feelings after everything that our car has gone through ( blew out engine due to failed bearings, the trans slips all the time on us, etc etc ). we both truely loved this car, but now......
Driving with a handicap child and 2 other children in the car down a road that is 55mph. all of a sudden the rpm revved up to over 9000 and would not go back down. i did not have control over the speed of the car for a moment. then the wrench and the check engine light came on. the car stuttered and then shut off. i was almost rear ended in the middle lane of traffic. *tr
The engine stalled in traffic on a 4 lane secondary road while traveling approximately 45 mph. i was in the left lane with concrete jersey barriers to my left, and traffic behind me and to my right, so i shifted to neutral and restarted the car, but the engine went into 900 rpm "limp mode" with the check engine light and wrench icons lit. i eventually crawled over to the right lane and then the breakdown lane to shut off the car and went through this process three more times to cover the last 10 miles of my commute home. i used an obd ii scanner to identify a p2111 code before contacting my dealer's service department. a little research shows that this throttle body failure is a dangerous situation that the nhtsa has been investigating for a while, but ford has still not owned up to the responsibility of issuing a recall. *tr
On september 15, 2013 i was driving on a major surface street at approximately 35 miles per hour when the car just stopped working. completely powerless. i saw two lights on the dashboard: the battery and the oil. there may have been more but i was more focused on safety and oncoming traffic than the lights on the dash. i decided not to take a chance of getting rear ended (injured or killed) so at the first big break in traffic i safely exited the vehicle and walked over to the sidewalk (one lane over). a local apartment resident saw the incident and grabbed a safety cone to put behind my car as a warning. thankfully there were no accidents but there were some close calls and last minute lane changes as drivers came upon my car. i called ford roadside assistance and they sent a tow truck to get the vehicle. it started up perfectly for the driver, but i had it towed anyway. it has been at the dealer for two days. they have been unable to duplicate the situation and have received no "codes" to indicate a problem with the vehicle. they have called ford to ask for assistance and ford has asked them questions regarding lights going on, my speed at the time of the incident, how far i had been driving the car before the incident, etc. this is the second time i have had a problem with my 2011 fusion completely failing. the first time was in september 2012 when the throttle failed on the freeway. it was supposedly fixed. this time the lost of power did not feel like the throttle. it just stopped working. had power. didn't have power. i am extremely concerned that the dealer will find nothing wrong with the vehicle and it will be returned to me in an unsafe condition. others have reported this and similar issues. please get these vehicles recalled before someone loses a life.
Increased rpm, then vehicle stalled on road giving transmission indicator. shifting delay, and stalling. reported to have internal problems with suggestion of transmission rebuild. vehicle has less than 100,000 miles. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle lost power as the transmission warning light illuminated. the contact coasted to the side of the road to shut off and restart the vehicle, as it resumed normal function. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 50,000.
I was driving 35mph when the vehicle lurched a couple of times and decelerated on its own to 2mph. no matter how much i pressed on the gas or let off on the gas, the vehicle stayed at 2mph. the "wrench" icon illuminated on the dash. the engine stayed mid-way between hot and cold, but the rpm's never got above 1 & 1/2. took the car to a dealer and found out that the throttle body is going out. i was so thankful i was not driving on the interstate at 70mph (or turning into traffic) when the deceleration suddenly occurred. i was powerless. *tr
Vehicle stalled out during highway speeds. took car to ford and they said it was the throttle body and it was not covered under warranty. *tr
This is my second occurrence: i was driving at a level speed of about 45 with the flow of traffic (in-city road, speed limit 45). when i heard my car seem to shift out of gear, and start stalling and slowing down and the wrench icon on the dash was lit up. i was in the left lane of a four-lane street. i got to quickest upcoming shoulder, and turned my vehicle fully off and back on. this stopped my car from stalling and shaking. but i am starting to feel very unsafe in my vehicle because there is no warning when my car will stall out and i do a lot of highway traveling. this was the second time in a 2 week period that this has happened. *tr
I've been having issues with the vehicle losing all throttle response while driving, and it's almost caused a few accidents. it throws two codes, p2111 and p2112. i took it to the dealership where i purchased it and they said the throttle body (9e926)-the entire unit needs to be replaced because the faulty sub-system within the unit is sealed and can't be replaced individually. they also told me the item is on national back order and there are no dates of release for this part as of today. *js
I was merging from one interstate to another and had accelerated to 65 mph. the car automatically started decelerating and shaking. thank goodness i was in the right lane and was able to pull off. i turned it off and it started again. i was able to drive it a short ways. it did it 2 other times while i attempted to drive it to the ford dealership and when it did it the 3rd time i pulled off the road and had to get towed. it was extremely scary and had i not been in the right lane to pull over at each time it happened, i don't know what would've happened! *jb
Driving 70 mph down the highway and the motor simply cut off. was fortunately able to make it to the emergency lane and come to a stop safely. turned ignition off. then turned the ignition on and the car immediately cranked back up. drove to nearest gas station thinking maybe being low on gas with about 40 miles to empty was the issue. filled up with gas and proceeded home. the next day, as we were beginning to take a trip, after turning onto the on ramp and started to accelerate to get onto the highway, the engine turned off again. fortunately was able to get stopped before being hit from behind by the cars closely behind me that were accelerating to get on the highway as well or by the flowing traffic on the highway itself as i entered the busy highway, thus endangering the lives of my whole family and those persons of the vehicles that may have come in contact with my vehicle. cranked car right back up and slowly proceeded to the ford dealership. where i was told that the mfi throttle body and motor assembly had to be replaced to correct the problem. this is failure is a danger to every fusion driver and their occupants, as well as, anyone that is driving near them that could hit them in the rear or possibly hit them in the door killing the driver or occupants because the car will not accelerate though an intersection or onto a highway. *tr
I made a complaint on 8/25/13 about the throttle body. i called the ford dealership to have it checked to see what was wrong with it. they called back and said it was definitely the throttle body and that the part would not be in for 4-6 weeks because the part was back ordered due to high demand. there are so many cars that need to have this replaced. i couldn't believe it. i am now without a car because i am afraid to drive it for fear i will get hit. i am still having to make a payment and no car to drive. no warranty so when i do get it fixed i will have to pay out of my pocket. hopefully they do the right thing and have the fusions that are affected recalled. *js
My car had just over 52000 miles on it when this incident occurred. i was driving on the highway around 70 mph when my car lost throttle control. it felt like the transmission pulled itself out of gear and i was unable accelerate. i had very little control over my car. when this issued occurred the "wrench" icon on the dashboard had turned on. i was able to pull over to the shoulder, and when i put the car in park the car began to mildly jerking. frantic, i turned off the vehicle to stop the jerking. after about 10 seconds, the car was finally calm and i attempt to restart the car. when car was restarted there was no longer any jerking coming from the vehicle, the wrench icon was gone, and i had control of my gas pedal again.
We were driving on the interstate and all of a sudden we lost power and the tool light came on. we slowly got off on the side and drifted to a rest area. we turned the car off and attempted to start again. we were not sure if it was going to start. after it started it ran fine until the next day and the same thing happened. i have just be lucky to be able to find a place to pull off and have avoided getting hit. *tr
Car just seemed to go out of gear. coasted to side of road turn ignition off and it did the same thing again coasted to side and called road side assistance. *tr
I was driving my 2011 ford fusion sel to work this morning and experienced the following.... while accelerating from second to third gear my car would slightly jerk. suddenly my car stopped accelerating and the wrench light comes on. the car is still running but i cannot accelerate. it was a good thing i was able to pull over because this could have caused a serious accident. once i pulled over, i placed my car in park and restarted it within 2 minutes. this all happened in the morning during morning traffic. fortunately, my office was less than a mile away and i managed to make it. during my lunch break, i had a co-worker follow me to the goodyear about 4 miles away. the same situation happened twice during the drive there. i officially received the cause of the problem, a defective throttle body with the code being p2111. the repair will cost 510.00... i did not realize that there are so many others that has had this issue. lives could be lost over this. i thank god that i was in the position to get over. nhtsa please address this with ford. lives should not have a price. *tr
This is a known issue with 2011 and other model ford fusions and other model ford cars. according to the media, on oct 2nd 2012 nhtsa created a defect petition to open an investigation on escape and fusion vehicles. i was traveling on over the chesapeake bay bridge on i50 in morning traffic ata ~ 60 mph when all of a sudden my fusion lost complete power. this caused a hazardous situation. i then had to 'limp' over a mile up the to the top of the bridge at less than 5 mph until i could put the vehicle in neutral and coast down the other side. myself and numerous other vehicles were subjected to a hazardous condition when this occurred. later troubleshooting revealed my problem was the well known 'fusion throttle body issue' currently under investigation. local ford dealer al packard in white marsh md service dept confirmed the issue as the '2111' fault and problem. after reading all of the details on this problem on the internet, i discussed the matter at length with local and national ford customer service people. although this is a well known issue, ford has no customer warranty program in place for this dangerous problem, nor is it covered until their power train warranty. there needs to be a recall warranty program and have this problem fixed before more people get hurt. in my case i witnessed numerous unsafe conditions while i was limping up the bridge for 20 minutes. the situation could have caused a terrible accident on the chesapeake bay bridge. i work as a flight safety product support manager for a major aircraft engine manufacturer. any loss of thrust control issue is handled as a safety issue and recall programs are put in place. the same needs to occur here. my brother who also owns a 2010 fusion had a similar issue where he has lost complete power while traveling ~65 mph in interstate traffic. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. the contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle was hesitant to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. the technician stated the throttle would have to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 76,500. *jb
While driving the car shuddered, lost power, had no gas peddle response and ran very rough. put car in park and shut off. turned ignition, car turned over for 10-15 seconds as if starving for fuel. finally caught and ran for about 2 miles, then happened again. in a span of 4 miles it did this three times. a few days later it did the same thing 3 times in a matter of about 10 miles. that time was on the highway doing 65 mph.
Vehicle speed 60 mph. rpms going from 2 to 6 mph did not want to go over 60. then vehicle stalled on expressway. took it to ford dealership. they said they replaced the tbi. still doing the same thing. car is parked because afraid it will kill us. *tr
I own a 2011 ford fusion. on 8/16/2013, on city streets, traveling less than 20 mph, the car engine cut off, the wrench light came on. i was able to steer, but all of my dash indicator lights were functioning as well as a/c and radio. however, there was no response from the accelerator. at less than 5 mph, she began to shudder/balk like i was just learning to drive a stick shift. on 9/2/2013, the same thing happened at two separate times, except during the first i was driving on a toll road at 55 mph. the second incident i was again traveling at 55 mph on an access ramp that leads onto the interstate. in all 3 incidents, the wrench light came on and i did have control of the steering wheel and was able to safely get my vehicle out of the main thoroughfare. i then shut off a/c, radio and ignition; waited a short time and restarted the car. each time she hesitated ever so slightly before starting and i was then able to drive on to my destination. *jb
Drive out of town on a single lane road going 55 mph and without warning the car showed a wrench symbol and lost all throttle response at the foot pedal. had to pull over on a highway without a shoulder and turned off the car. restarting the car cleared the wrench symbol and i had throttle response. tried to drive the 10 miles that i had left to get home and the issue happened 4 more times. internet search pointed to a bad throttle body and it looks like a major issue on multiple ford cars/suvs. ford dealer ship has a new part number for this throttle body with a 2 month backorder with around 6,534 units on backorder! ordered a new part number from ebay and seems to be working. i did the replacement in 10 minutes, but have read online that people are paying around 500 dollars at the dealership to replace this part. that alone should be a law suit! i was lucky that this did not cause a crash since i had my kids in the car with me when this happened. [xxx] i have the removed part if you need it. *tr
Vehicle lost power three times over a 10-mile stretch. check engine light came on. we called aaa for a tow to the ford dealership since we felt like it was too unsafe to risk a trip on the interstate to get to the dealership. was found to be a throttle body failure. *tr
While pulling out of a parking lot onto a busy road my car began to stall and not run properly, it would not keep even 1000 rpm. the only dashboard light that lit up was an orange wrench. i looked at the temp and it was normal so i slowly crossed the intersection and immediately pulled over and shut it off. i did not try to restart it. *tr
Driving down road and lost all power and acceleration. wrench light came on and when i attempted to crank car it sounded like it was constantly trying to crank. turned car off and trued again. it started and allowed me to reach my destination, which was a mile down the road. the next day it did the same thing. took it to the ford dealership service area and it was the throttle body. of course it wasn't covered under warranty even though it is a part of the power train. the concern is that this is happening a lot to these cars and had i been on the interstate my family and i could have died due to the loss of everything. i was not able to get car off the road and it stopped extremely fast and sudden. i was out of town and had no other choice to but get it repaired where i was. *tr
I drive a 2011 ford fusion, and on august 8, 2013, i was driving on a highway at about 65 mph and i went down to about 5mph. i had to pull over and turn off the car. the check engine light and wrench light came on when this happened. after i shut it off the wrench light went off, but the check engine light stayed on. this happened again after i started the car again. the car is now in the shop. this should be a recall part. *tr
I was doing 55 mph and my car stalled, the wrench and check engine light came on then the car stopped. after a couple attempts the car started and i was allowed to drive although i was scared and got off the freeway. i also have had a problem with my wheels knocking when i turn like one of the tires are going to come off. now i have to replace the throttle body! i took the car to the mechanic and now all these things have to be fixed and have become quite costly, not to mention the car was made to not have a gas cap? really? i'm starting to wonder if the ford fusion is the right car to have and the safety questions are always in my head because if a car stops on the freeway while doing 55 a serious accident can't be too far behind. i pray these issues all get addressed and recalled so no one gets killed! i did research on this website and found that the same issues have happened to many others but when i called ford's customer relations department i was told there are no recalls for my vin. i can't imagine i am the only one having these troubling issues taking place but it only affected certain models. seems to me all ford fusions should have these items recalled and replace regardless of what model. i now have to keep my receipt from the mechanic because it was not a ford dealer who fixed my car and hope that the recall on these issues will allow me to get my hard earned monies back one day soon. frustrated ford fusion owner to say the least. *tr
Vehicle stalled without warning in heavy traffic. pulled off, restarted. resumed normal operation. stalled again. restarted again. began stalling at lights. had to trim gas pedal while stopped to keep running. car stalls on acceleration b/w 2nd and 3rd gear (6 speed manual). when car stalls while underway, major shudder occurs. has gone into limp mode but after restart will be normal operationally for a short time and then without warning cut out. extremely dangerous situation, in particular when accelerating from a stop or into traffic or if successful doing that, stalling without warning at speed and with cars/trucks bearing down on you. at one of the above stalls, had tractor trailer bearing down on me without an ability to remove the car from road in that particular area. throttle body codes p2111 and p2112 indicating bad throttle body. very common occurrence apparently among the 2010 through 2012 ford fusions. requesting a recall and reimbursement for throttle body which i have replaced. *tr
While driving at highway speeds, my ford fusion accelerator became unresponsive. it was as if the car shifted into neutral. there was no shoulder and i was forced to come to a complete stop on the highway. after a brief internet search, it was apparent this is a very big problem for ford fusions and ford has done nothing to fix the problem. the malfunctioning part was specifically the throttle body. *tr
As we were driving down a 3 lane freeway, the car just all of a sudden lost all response in the gas pedal and the wrench light on the dashboard came on. luckily we were able to get to the side of the road and no one was behind us when the car became unresponsive. we restarted the car and everything seemed fine, but as we were almost home, it did the same thing again. after this time, we called the ford roadside assistance to have it towed to the nearest dealership. the problem was reported to us as the throttle body and motor assembly. *tr
While driving at a highway speed of 65 mph, vehicle suddenly lost all ability to accelerate and the wrench light on the dash became illuminated. driver was in outer fast lane of the interstate and had to proceed to change several lanes with no acceleration in order to remove the vehicle from the highway as quickly as possible. when the vehicle came to a complete stop, the engine rpms started to rev up and down continuously. *tr
I was traveling down the road going 40mph when all of a sudden the car lost power and went into a limp mode i was getting no reaction from the gas pedal and had to pull off the road. at this time the wrench and service engine light came on when i turned the vehicle off and then back on it ran just fine and there were no lights. the next day it happened again 2 more times. the third day it happened 2 times just on the way to the mechanic 2 blocks away. they told me it was the throttle body box that needed to be replaced and that this is happening so much the part is actually on back order and would not be available for 3 weeks. very upset and want this issue addressed by ford. they need to stand behind their product and if there is an issue take responsibility and just get it fixed before someone gets hurt when there traveling down the road and their vehicle suddenly loses power. *tr
Driving on the interstate when the wrench light came on and the engine stalled. had to coast the car over to the roadside. car was running very rough. turned car off and restarted. car idled normally. drove about 1 mile and the car repeated the same problem. problem occurred 4 times until i got off the interstate. was able to drive the car to a safe place at about 30 miles an hour. making arrangements to take car into dealer. very dangerous situation as i was on a high speed interstate and could have been hit by oncoming traffic. *tr
I was entering the freeway on ramp at approximately 25-30 mph when the car suddenly started stalling. the wrench-shaped warning light came on and i could not accelerate even though i attempted to step on the gas pedal. the car started jerking, shaking, and slowed down significantly to about 10/15 mph. the car behind me almost hit me as well because i couldn't control the car's speed any longer. luckily, i was able to maneuver the car to the right-hand shoulder. however, this is an extremely dangerous car to be driving and there really shouldn't be any severe problems such as this because we just bought this car less than 3 years ago! i don't know what's wrong with the transmission. looking back on it, i also do not understand why this occurs while shifting between the 2nd and 3rd gears. i have also observed extremely high rpms at lower speeds. i hope the government will ask ford for a recall because i don't want anyone else to end up in this type of dangerous situation that could potentially kill someone. definitely a transmission problem. took this to the dealer, who told me it was a throttle body problem and they are still working to fix it. granted, i don't drive like a grandma. however, if i pay 25k for a car, i expect its transmission to last me longer than 3 years. *tr
***note: this started in may 2013 happened 3 times. dealership replace an intake sensor and then it happened again as listed below. this is putting me and my daughters in danger everytime this happens without prior warning. ---------------------------------------- july 19, 2013 @ 3:29 am: without warning this time the "check engine" indicator came on , the car made a weird noise like a dying rumble/purring noise as it became silent and all power left. -she put the care in ?p? park -started the engine and it acted normal -------------------------------------- july 19, 2013 @3:28 am: without warning the ?throttle control/transmission? indicator lit up, the car became silent and all power left. -she put the care in ?p? park -started the engine and it acted normal ------------------------------------------- july 19, 2013 @ 1:20 am : without warning the ?throttle control/transmission? indicator lit up, the car became silent and all power left. -she put the care in ?p? park -started the engine and it acted normal ---------------------------------------------------------- july 18, 2013 @4:30 pm: without warning the ?throttle control/transmission? indicator lit up, the car became silent and all power left. -she put the care in ?p? park ?.i was in the back seat & instructed her what to do. -started the engine and it acted normal ***** ford dealership service technicians could not find or duplicate the problem. the issue escalated to the ford engineers. they determined that it was something like the massive intake air flow sensor and installed a new one ( ford part: fp 3l3z-128579-ba sensor assy) june 13 just prior to my business trip on june 17,2013. *tr
Started the vehicle and began driving, the throttle died in the middle of an intersection. had to restart car in intersection. the throttle returned momentarily. slowly drove the vehicle at < 5mph (as all it would allow) to autozone. received p2112 code: throttle control stuck shut. had to tow home. relevant to this article and investigation: http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2013/02/25/probe-ford-cars-suvs-stalling/1945799/ have since paid for ford to replace the throttle body. am awaiting recall for reimbursement. *tr
Was going just going down a residential street and a warning light came on and my car started surging and running rough and basically just stopped. i turned it off and let it sit a bit and then it restarted and the warning light was off and drove fine. one month later this happend again in town and approximately at the same speed. i figured i would have them check it as the owners manual stated to do if it happened more than once when i got my oil changed. about 3 weeks after the 2nd incident and 2 months after the 1st, i was on the interstate going 65 mph and the light came on and it was as if i was not getting any power, the accelerator didnt do anything and i had to pull over to the shoulder in heavy traffic. again i turned the car off let it sit a bit and continued on. my dealership is 10 miles from my home, as i was taking the car in to get checked and the oil changed the incident happened 2 times in this 10 mile distance in interstate traffic and again i had to pull off onto the shoulder in heavy traffic just to get to dealership. it happened 3 times in a 3 day period. they said this was not covered under the powertrain warranty and my car only has 54000 miles on it and it was 500.00 to fix.
While driving at 35 mph the engine failed to respond to the throttle (gas pedal) and slowed. the engine ran at a rough idle at about 900 rpm. the check engine light was illuminated. the car was towed to the ford dealer who advised the "throttle body" needed to be replaced. the part was on back order and it took 10 days to get the car repaired. this would have been a dangerous/life threatening situation had it occurred on the interstate at 65 mph! *tr
I own a 2011 ford fusion se. while driving 60 mph, the engine felt like it lost power with the illumination of the wrench warning icon. i pulled the vehicle over, turned off the car, and allowed it to sit for a minute before i was able to proceed with turning on the car and driving the vehicle home. after reading similar reports online, i submitted a service request to a local ford dealer to have the throttle body replaced. this was about the third time over the past month this issue has occurred. *tr
While driving vehicle lost engine power. rpms went to zero, engine stayed at idle speed and throttle control light (wrench symbol) came on. no response when gas pedal pressed. coasted to side of road and turned ignition off. waited 10 minutes and car started up with no problems and no warning light. my concern is that if this happened in heavy/faster traffic it may have caused an accident. and after researching online as to what may have caused this failure it seems there are a large number of consumers having the same problem with this make and model. several suggested filing a complaint on this site. *tr
While driving down the highway, the throttle on the vehicle became unresponsive and we had to make our way across traffic to the highway shoulder. this happened at many different speeds including idle. after taking it to a local parts store to have the "service engine light" code checked, the results showed a p2112 "throttle actuator control system - stuck closed". several times the car would shut off as the tachometer was moving erratically. i feel we were lucky this didn't cause an accident as the car shutoff several times while entering intersections and driving around "blind corners". *tr
Was driving and wrench light came on and the car almost came completely to a stop. could not go more than a few mph. shut off car, and everything was fine. on 7/22/2013, the wrench light and check engine light came on 3 times and the car was in limp mode. wrench light shut off but check engine light stayed on. car is currently at a shop being diagnosed. *tr
While driving on i-95 south approximately 65-70 mph in moderately heavy traffic, at exit 180, the car sounded like it dropped out of gear while accelerating. i was able to merge to the shoulder of the highway. the car continued coasting and the "wrench light" appeared. the car would not accelerate at all. when stopped, the car rattled and idled very hard and was shaking. the service engine light came on. i turned the car off and i waited a few minutes and cranked the car back and all was fine, wrench light and service engine light was off. this has happened 6 more times since july 8th 2013, yesterday it happened 4 times in the 1 hour, almost got slammed by two 18 wheeler trucks. this really should be a recall due to this type of situation can get people killed. *tr
While driving my 2011 ford fusion down the road, it unexpectedly lost power. the engine remained on (lights, radio, etc.), but pushing on the accelerator did not cause it to accelerate. the car was turned off & a few minutes later, an attempt to restart the car was made. the starter turned over multiple times & finally started. this occurred three times in a five-day period. it was taken to the dealership, where they have been unable to replicate the occurrence, though they suspect there is an issue with the throttle body. one has been ordered for replacement. i feel this is a very unsafe situation as the car unexpectedly stopped all three times -- had anyone been driving behind me (particularly at the speeds we were traveling), i feel that serious injury to me & my passengers could have occurred. *tr
The power steering went of while i was driving at approximately 45mph. the indicator showed check power trac power steering. took it to the dealer where i bought the car and they put it on a computer to see what was wrong. the computer showed the power gear needs to be replaced at $1600. but the service tech said that may not be all that's wrong, but first need to replace the power gear. this should be covered in the warranty and this should be a recall due to having occurred numerous times before. neither of which is occurring. this could be very dangerous and cause serious injury if the car, for incidence, is in the passing lane. after the car lost its power steering, i was able to stop and restart, which corrected the steering. *tr
It was raining heavily and my son and i were entering a highway via a ramp and the vehicle lost all acceleration and throttle response. i moved the car over to the side of the road. the car was idling but had not throttle response. stuck in the rain along the side of road. called for a tow truck to have the car towed to ford. diagnosed as bad throttle body. part back ordered for days. seems to be a common problem. *tr
I was driving down our street and the engine lost power. i put it in neutral , pulled over, and turned off the car. i waited for about 30 seconds then restarted. it took a few seconds for my car to come back on. i continued driving and the car lost power like this three more times. i was concerned for my safety as i had to pull over on the side of the highway each time this happened. i drove to a mechanics shop and they did a diagnostic test and they informed me that it was the throttle body. i was informed that the part is on nationwide back order. there are 150+ orders from ford infront of mine. if the issue is this wide, it only seems right that a recall should be issued. *tr
I just purchased this car on june 26 2013 with 25580 miles. i pulled out of a parking lot and with no warning an orange wrench indicator came on the instrument panel followed by a complete loss of throttle response. i was able to pull over, put the car in park and restart the car. the wrench disappeared and the car was driving well. after about two miles i entered the interstate. after several miles traveling in heavy traffic i was able to cruise at about 65 to 70 miles per hour. with no warning just as described in the first occurrence, the wrench light came on and i had no use of the throttle. i had to pull over to the side of the road and this time the car was bucking and shuddering. i was able to restart the car and continue the rest of my trip. i have to bring it to the dealer on 07/01/2013 to have it diagnosed, but it is running ok now. the only other problem i have had is a random wavering idle speed. a few times the car has hunted between 600-900 rpms while in drive sitting at a traffic light. at first i thought this just the car making adjustments but now i wonder if it is all related. i am nervous driving the car because you have to pull over, stop, restart and then proceed. i tried both times the throttle died to shift into neutral, restart and continue to no avail. i have a 2009 ford fusion and have no similar issues. *tr
Was driving on a heavily congested road and the car suddenly lost power and was limping along. i had to pull over and be towed to a ford repair facility. was told that the electronic throttle body was bad. *tr
