Recently reported FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE problems on 2006 Ford Freestyle

Was sitting in car in a parking lot with ac running waiting for my wife. as i began to back up i put foot on brake to let car go by when the car began to surge and my foot was no where near gas pedal. then the car shut off by itself and check engine light came on. later we were waiting in a line at a drive-thru as we waited in line i had car in drive but foot on brake. then the car lunged forward and i could have hit the car in front of me. the car died again. this happened another time. i took it to auto part store to diagnose check engine light. it gave me code p2106 and which is throttle actuator control system-forced limited power. *tr

On 8-23-2011 we had the throttle control system replaced because of uncontrollable exhilaration. it has started the same symptoms again and we need to have it replaced again . *tr

Vehicle purchased used 10/2013 from national used car retail chain. *records, via ford dealership (as of 07/2014), indicate tb issue (ref. nhtsa pe11018) addressed under ford csp 12n03; 08/13 [tb cleaned & programming edited by 2nd local ford dealer.] initial incident occurred 10/2013, less than 72 hours after purchase, codes indicated; as per retail chain repair shop*, a misfire on cylinder 6. repair made via dealer warranty, replacing plug & associated parts.drove car from date of repair, including highway, long distances & locally w/o notable incident. later, service light began to flash on & off; no codes present. assumed indicator short. eng. light & svc. lights came on & went off periodically but never readable for codes. car then began to make noises occasionally upon start up similar to solenoid failure & exhibit "dieseling" upon ignition. weather related? then; 03/2014, entered highway, accelerating to 60/mph - at half mile up, car "shut down"; rpm flat, speedometer flat, pedal non-reactive, steering impaired, no electricity. coasted to divide in highway; cranked vehicle, turned & crossed to shoulder; stopping & starting several times. moving 10/mph to safety. still no codes. thought clog in fuel system/ trash in gas. next attempt to drive, filled tank, new gas; no indicator lights, no problems. then: incident:05/2014: cranked & backed out of driveway, placed g.shift in d.. nothing...no movement, rpm flat, speedometer flat. service & engine light came on. rolled back in drive, car sat for several days. cranked it, eng, & svc. lights still on; drove to parts store. codes present indicate tb malfunction. problem not covered via purchase agreement. ford says; "problem solved". part/ $500 plus labor.payment:$475/mo. afraid to drive it. don't want to be the stalled car hit from behind @ 65/mph by a big rig statistic to fix it. it is still broken. *tr

Vehicle lurches when brakes are applied in forward and reverse. happened many times. the wrench indicator light came on also when this happened. this happened many times when we first purchased the vehicle. i checks threads on the internet and saw this as a common problem. i personally cleaned the throttle body as shown on youtube by a gentleman and it fixed the problem for awhile. this happened recently to my wife as she was leaving her work parking lot at low speed. lurched when put in gear with brakes applied. car felt uncontrollable. we see that an investigation on this problem has begun so i would confer with other vehicle owners. more times and dates than i can remember that lurching has taken place. one time i had to slip it into neutral to stop the car and apply the brakes. *tr

This car has a known issue, which i experienced, where carbon deposits in the throttle body cause it to surge or stall unexpectedly. the remedy as given by ford is to have the throttle body cleaned and the computer (pcm) reprogrammed. looking in to various forums for information on the topic, such as edmunds and freestyle owner forums, many owners report the problem recurring after this fix had been implemented, mostly a few 10's of thousands of miles later. others, who had their throttle bodies completely replaced, with a throttle of newer design, report no further issues at any reported range. i am asking why ford is allowed to temporarily bandage a known safety issue, that is also known to recur after this fix has been implemented, rather that applying what seems to be a permanent safety fix, replacement of the throttle? the surging is bad enough that had i not experienced it previously, and been semi-anticipating it, i would have been pushed into an intersection and into traffic. nonetheless, the car did move forward several feet. this was on my trip to the ford dealership (24 june 2013) to have the prescribed fix applied. i do not believe a temporary fix, one that allows to problem to recur, is in the best interest of public safety, and that ford should, instead, focus on a permanent fix to its safety issue. i would like to note, those who have had their throttles replaced state the new one is of a different design. for example: the new one is a non-heated body, vs the previous design which has a heated body, which is suspect to failure. the old throttle (5f9z-9e926-aa) vs the new ones (6f9z-9e926-a) are designated by the different parts numbers provided, further showing ford's knowledge the old (heated) version of the throttle is, itself, causing the safety issue, and that their one-time fix is only temporary. *tr

Affected part: throttle body. two yrs ago we had our car repaired for a throttle body issue our car was lunging forward aggressively and sometimes stalled. it was a terrible safety issue, b/c it was also happening when my foot was on the brake. there was no recall at that time when we took the car to one ford dealership. they repaired the throttle body and the car ran for 2 yrs without the same problem. unfortunately, here we are 2 yrs later, & our car is at another ford dealership the throttle body needs to be replaced. we have spent so much already, and now we have to pay $1700 to fix the throttle body & also the alternator. there are so many ford freestyle owners who have had this same issue why hasn't a recall been issued? i just found out today that there was a customer service satisfaction program for just a cleaning back in nov 2012. i did not receive this letter, but it will not help us anyway since the throttle body is no longer usable. *tr

March of 2013 one of the 5 transmissions replaced . lunging at low speeds , not shifting gears , dying, error codes wrench light comes on , this has occured with every incident which eventually lead to transmission failure everytime. *tr

Car lunges forward when at a stop but still on drive, brakes must be immediately applied or the car will take off by itself. happens more when the shift is in the drive position but is being held by the brake for a period of time like in a line, a drive thru, or long traffic light. very scary! *tr

Vehicle lunges and has poor gas mileage. we have almost been in several accidents and going thru brakes more than normal due to this issue. ford issued a complimentary customer satisfaction service to clean the throttle body and i am continuing to have this problem. ford was notified and we were told that its not a safety issue and any repair is my responsibility. *tr

Car surges when idling. seems more in hot weather but am told it is the throttle body that has to be replaced and is a known problem with all of them for 6-7 years now. *tr

Vehicle will not start. dealership claimed that the throttle body needs to be replace along with a computer update to a tune of $800+. various posts have been found on the internet regarding a known defect with this model year's throttle body including a "lunging issue" caused by this failed component. i would like this issue to be investigated and ford to be responsible for the replacement and remedy of this defective component. *tr

I was parked with car running for about 10 mins. when i went to back up the car, the car lunged backwards while my foot was still engaged on the brake. car stalled but i was able to re-start car. wrench and engine lights were on. i drove the car home but the fuel injection was labored and did not accelerate normally and would also accelerate unexpectedly while sitting at traffic light. i was able to get the car home, but check engine light was still lit after several days. *tr

My 2006 ford freestyle is absolutely the worst made car i have ever owned! throttle body problem... 50,000 miles, check! ac compressor goes bad.... 60,000 miles, check! and now beginning at 79,000 miles the cvt transmission is trashed! $6000 to fix and you can't even get a new one! i drove it knowing it would go bad another 3000+ miles because i was destined to spend a lot of money either way. the mechanic actually suggested i trade it in when it began. would that have been fair to whomever bought it? these are all common early mileage problems with the freestyles! there are numerous posts about other owners with the same problems, especially these three and there are a couple more that fortunately i have dodged to this point. what is ford going to do? just let those of us who bought freestyles with cvt suffer. what about the fact that you stopped using the cvt transmission on the taurus x? why? i think we know based on the numerous cvt failures at such low mileage. but not low enough to be covered by warranty. *tt

On several occasions while i was driving in route to work or the grocery store, my 06 ford freestyle seemed slow and sluggish to respond as i would be waiting at a red light for the green. when the light did turn green and i would press the gas pedal to go, the car would shut off. a few times there were close calls as the car behind me would be unaware i was having trouble and almost rear-end me. when the car would cut off, i would proceed to restart the car and then press the gas to go. the car seemed to respond extremely slow like i would have the gas pedal pressed to the floor and would only be able to go 20 - 25 mph. on other occasions, the car would seem to lurch forward or backward (depending on if i had the car in drive or reverse) the throttle body failure on my 2006 ford freestyle creates a very dangerous situation because the engine will accelerate without applying the gas pedaland will no accelerate at times when the gas pedal is pressed. after a little research i found this to be arecurring problem on 2006, and 2007 ford freestyle vehicles. ford is or should be well aware the proble exist and has for some time and has done nothing about it , to add insult to injury my car has been at the ford dealership for over a month because the parts needed to repair it [ throttlebody ] is not availiable and no one can tell me for sure when it will be people at ford tell me that the company making the part went out of bussiness without notice, well needless to say this does not help my situation, i have notified my state and federal highway safety commishners of the problem and i would like to ask everyone with a similar problem to do the same. *tr

Vehicle surges while in reverse and while in drive at stop lights or when backing out of a parking space. have came close to surging out into the intersection and almost surged out into the path of another car in a parking lot. *tr

My 2006 ford freestyle surges anytime it is in idle with the ac on. if placed in park with ac on it surges once placed into gear. i have written ford and they passed the buck to you. this has occurred multiple times and continues to occur everytime i drive for more than 10 min. consequences: multiple times i have come within inches of rear ending another car...one time it pushed me into on-coming traffic...i am waiting for you all to hold ford accountable and make them recall the freestyle as this a defect and there is already a class action suit filed against them for this...i wonder how many people will have to be seriously injured or die for you all to pay attention., *tr

Car lurches usually when putting it into drive or reverse. last week it lurched into oncoming traffic while pulling out of sonic drive-in, then it lost power scaring the bejesus out of the whole family. fortunately traffic was able to stop in time for us to limp out of the way. took it to a dealership they said the electronic throttle body needed to be replaced. got to checking and it appears to be a re-occurring theme with this car. worried if i spend the $500-$900 to have it repaired it will do it again down the road in a year or two or 30,000 miles. *tt

For about 2 months i had been experiencing some minor surging when car was put into reverse but thought it might have been bad gas or needed a new fuel or air filter. first major incident was in august when i started my car and put in reverse to back out of parking space. before i took my foot off the brake, the car accelerated backwards and then stalled suddenly. this happened at least 3 times while i was in the parking lot before the car finally began to work properly and i could drive it home again. both wrench and check engine lights were on. *tr

The car often lungs, revs up, without warning or having your foot on the accelerator. it seems to be getting more consistant. it does not matter if the ac is on or not. *tr

Vehicle surged forward while parking and backward while exiting parking space. has continued to occur since.

2006 ford freestyle lungs forward or reverse when car is put in drive or reverse and brake ir released it will set a orange wrench indicator that can be reset by shutting off car this is very dangerous in parking lots have nearly hit other cars. *tr

First sign was when leaving a mall parking space; placed car into reverse to back up, motor surged and car leaped backwards unexpectedly nearly striking a passing car and pedestrians. put transmission into'd' to pull back into space and transmission dash indicator illuminated and the car died. various iterations of restarting the engine, putting the car in gear and then either surging under full power or dying until we got to an auto parts store to see if they could read any codes for the problem. the shop was very nice but unable to determine anything conclusive so we limped along to the nearest ford dealership where we learned the throttlebody had failed. *tr

Car accelerated unexpectedly, to the point of having to hold the brake while the tires were still spinning in the gravel. after this the dashboard wrench and check engine light came on. car also stopped while in traffic several times. after taking car to ford dealership for service, we were told the throttle body was malfunctioning and caused this problem. while the car is still under warranty we were advised this part was not covered under the warranty at a cost of $700.00 to us. we have no problem with the dealership, our problem is with ford motor company. why is there no recall!! this is a dangerous situation.

I have a 2006 ford freestyle i pulled off the interstate stopped at a stop sign when i went to pull away the car lunged forward almost hitting another car and died 3 times the check engine light came on. i went to pull back on the interstate and had no power had my foot to the floor and could barely get to 30 mph. i am an automotive tech took the car to work and pulled the codes po61b internal control torque calculation and p2106 throttle control system. after researching the codes i found that alot of people have experienced the same problem with the same codes and had to replace the throttle body. i am replacing the throttle body but realize this is a common and dangerous problem that ford is not taking care of or even acknowledging there is a problem. knowing that the throttle bodies were on back order not long ago means to me they are in big demand so there must be a problem. *tr

The vehicle's engine cut out after a stop several times, when restarted, vehicle behavior was erratic during acceleration. dealer determined the electric throttle body was bad and replaced the component.

My mom owns a 2006 ford freestyle. it had a throttle body failure that cost her $835 to replace on 7-21-2011. this is outrageous!!!! it's understandable that mechanical things will fail but this is an obvious safety issue. the car began to "surge" and lurch forward, mainly when parking. my mom actually bumped the front of the car port!!! the vehicle also died multiple times while sitting at red lights over the course of about 3 weeks... when she needed to take off, it stalled and would not accelerate... this is an extreme safety hazard and ford needs to make this right! reimburse my mom! she's on a fixed income and can't afford to pay for ford's mistakes, not to mention she could have had an accident causing damage to her vehicle or someone else, or worse yet personal injury to her or someone else!!!!!! do the right thing... step up an recall this throttle body... there is already a tsb out on it.. (05-25-13) so it's a known issue. what will it take to get this fixed?... does someone have to get hurt or killed???? *tr

When hot outside, vehicle accelerates on its own at idle without touching the accelerator pedal. *tt

Ford 2006 freestyle is accelerating on it own in reverse and drive. i do not have my foot on the gas .the car lunges forward and then stalls. *tr

Engine revs and vehicle lurches while placing the car in reverse, even with foot firmly on the brakes. appears to be worse when air conditioner is on. vehicle has lost virtually all power while driving. when this happens, you can floor the gas peddle but the vehicle won't go over 10-15mph. pulling over to the side of the road, turning vehicle off, waiting 15 seconds or so, then restarting, seems to reset the vehicle to a more functional level. the vehicle also has an extensive exhaust smell and it is currently at the shop for a $566 repair for the diagnostic exam and that diagnosis indicating that the egr valve needs to be replaced. i called ford and they do not have a current recall for the egr valve, or throttle body-which seems to be a correlated problem within the two. *tr

While starting my car and attempting to back up, it started sputtering, wouldn't reverse, and then the engine reved and it lurched backwards. i immediately hit the brake and put it in park. the engine altered between sputtering, lunging, and then it reved on it its own while in park and with no acceleration. i turned off the ignition, waited a minute, and started it again, this time with no problem. about 2 weeks later, the same incident happened while i was trying to pull forward in a parking lot but this time the engine kept stalling. i had it towed to the auto dealer who tried recalibrating a computer sensor but warned that it "may be the throttle body but that would be very unusual." after another incident, the dealer replaced the throttle body (this past monday) but same incident happened last night, this time leaving us stranded in the middle of a four lane road. after several attempts at turning off and then turning on the car, we were able to hobble to a parking lot where we turned off the car and sat for 5 minutes. it was then fine, and we drove home. we did notice that the a/c would cut in and out on its own during the 30 minute trip home. it is the shop again as i write this.

Noticing our 2006 ford freestyle rpm's suddenly surging when running at low rpm's and then turning the steering wheel. problem is increased when air conditioning is on. was very close to crashing our freestyle into the shelving in the garage. also have had incidents where the fan motor on the rear seat climate control will surge to high then go almost to off, surge again and then stabilize at the desired fan speed. have not taken action on a repair yet. *tr

We purchased a brand new 2006 ford freestyle in march, 2007. on june 14, 2011, and to a lesser extent, periodically since vehicle purchase, the vehicle's engine surged while my foot was on the brake pedal; the vehicle failed to accelerate to normal speed; and, it acted like it didn't want to shift into next gear. the june 14, 2011 occurrence was the worst one, plus, the wrench light came on. our local ford dealership diagnosis is that the throttle body needs to be replaced...at only 37,200 miles. repair estimate from the dealership to replace the part is $836.48. dealership also determined that an engine mount bracket/gasket needs to be replaced for cost of $424.00; rear brakes will be needed within 5,00 miles for $374, if new rotors are needed; and, new battery is needed now for a cost of $138...all this at only 37,200 miles. we foolishly purchased an extended warranty when we bought the vehicle. ford tells us that the warranty only covers the power train, and since the throttle body is considered to be electronic, the warranty will not apply. we were led to believe that it was a bumper-to-bumper extended warranty when we agreed to purchase the warranty. we are very unhappy campers! no more extended warranties for us. we believe that ford should be responsible at least for the throttle body replacement, in full. we are afraid to drive the vehicle now, and even when it is "repaired" we will still be afraid because of the history of the freestyle problems that we have read about online. please help! thanks.

When i run my a/c in my 2006 ford freestyle and will be trying to back up my car will shut off and my check engine light will come on. today while driving forward my car sputtered and the orange wrench light came on. once i stopped i turned off the car and it turned back on and the lights stayed off. i drove home without any problems but i was not using the a/c. i only notice it when i drive with the a/c on which it is summer so it has been happening quite frequently. sometimes when i am driving through town with stop lights it will lurch forward and i am afraid i am going to hit the car in front of me or even someone walking in front of me. i took the car to walmart with the check engine light on before while getting my oil changed and they recommended me to use fuel injection cleaner and it seems to make the check engine light go off but does not help my backing up and shutting off problem or my going forward and the car lurching. i am afraid that driving with 4 children under the age of 10 that something will happen with them in the car. *tr

My vehicle was lurching at slow speeds when pulling into parking spots or parallel parking. in some instances it actually revved up high and i had to slam on the brakes for fear of running into something. with the air conditioner or heater on it's much worse. i took it to the dealer and they told me it was the throttle body but at the time my car only had roughly 48000 miles on it. the car had too few miles on it to have this type of problem, so i looked on the internet and found that many other owners of this vehicle have been having the same issues. *tr

On june 10, 2011 i allowed my son and daughter in-law along with there two small children to use our 2006 ford freestyle to drive to there vacation destination in nags head nc. they stopped in woodbridge va to spend the night. after obtaining a motel room they used the car to go to a restaurant to eat and at this time while driving the car it began to accelerate and surge forward. applying the brake seemed to have know effect on the condition. my son called me and ask what i thought he should do and i told him to take it to a local ford dealer in the morning. on the morning of june 11 2011 he drove the car to cowles parkway ford in woodbridge va. they reported to him that the car had a faulty throttle body and it would have to be replaced at a cost of $969.00. the part was replaced and they proceeded to nags head nc. after some investigation on my part i discovered that ford motor company knew that this problem existed but to the best of my knowledge did not inform owners. i would not have sent my family on a vacation with this car if i had known that this potentionally dangerous situation could arise. *tr

I drive a 2006 freestyle. just weeks after buying it from used dealer the vehicle started lunging when i would attempt to stop or be at a slow pace. example being in parking lot and trying to park it would lung from about 1000 rpm to 4000-5000 rpms. this would throw my car forward. i did tap a car that day but no body damage. also the car will be driving down the road and the wrench comes on and motor shuts down. there is no warning and has been very scary when merging into 75mph traffic with no where to go. on the 6th of june 2011 the throttle body was replaced. however within the 30 days all symptoms were occurring again. i had the compressor go out which cost $1000 to replace. on 12/02/11 i took the vehicle back to the shop, they ran codes and found it was the transmission. i have many accounts of the lunging and the wrench shut down issue. it has become very regular and makes my car very unreliable.

Returning home with my children, when my 2006 ford freestyle lurched horribly, accelerating first, then dropping down to almost no power at all, with the yellow wrench light turned on, and then would barely accelerate till i got home and turned the engine off, then re-started it and the car acted relatively normal. fortunately was on a country road, and no other cars around when incident occurred. *tr

Car lurches on its own with my foot on the brake. happens most in reverse when backing up out of a parking space, but has also happened several times while idling in a drive thru line. i have had several near collisions due to this problem. it happens almost always when first put into reverse. i have learned to keep my foot on the brake. it is an ongoing problem. *tr

My car began having problems lunging forward while i was stopped at a school zone cross-walk waiting for children to cross. it lunged forward and stopped just inches from hitting 4 children. it terrified me!!!! it happened several times that day and the next day until i could get it in the shop. i was told it needed the throttle body replaced by the ford mechanics but luckily i got by with just a throttle body cleaning. the car no longer lunges forward. about the same time, the car had problems feeling like it wouldn't get past 2nd gear and it wouldn't accelerate. i still don't know what caused this. a few months later the car started making a strange clicking noise that would get faster when i would accelerate then slower when i would brake. it quit making the noise by the time i could take it to get it looked at a few days later. the air conditioner won't get cold unless the car is in motion. the heater does the same thing. it only seems to happen on extreme temperature days. then spontaneously, both these problems seemed to fix themselves. just this week, my car backfired 2 times, then the next morning when i started it, it smelled horrible! i turned it off immediately, then the next day, it wouldn't start. took it to my ford mechanic, and he said everything checked out ok. he now thinks there is something wrong with the computer system. everything i have read on the internet suggests that these have been huge problems for many ford freestyle owners. and yet no recall? come on ford!! you have lost many loyal customers over this!! please help all of us to get a recall issued for this car!! i am a single mother of three children, and if i get stranded, i, like many people, have nobody to call and no way to pay if i get stranded. please help before someone gets seriously injured or even killed. many other probs but no room to list. *tr

The automobile surges when initialing engaging into either reverse or drive. extreme pressure needs to be applied to the break to prevent the car from surging 5 to 10 feet, either backwards or forwards depending on which gear is selected. took the car to danvers ford in danvers, massachusetts. there service manager stated he had not heard of any surging problems. no error codes were detected. he contacted ford motor company and the recommended the "throttle body" be replaced. for obvious safety reasons reasons, we complied and replaced the throttle body at an out-of-pocket expense to us of roughly $650.

Vehicle accelerates, without depression of gas pedal. lunge forward at stop lights while brake pedal is depressed. it surges in reverse as well, even with the brake pedal is depressed and the gas pedal is vacant. i called dealership, and they said it was the throttle body, it needs to be replaced and it would cost up to $1000. this is a huge safety hazard and it is common to all ford freestyles. it is most definitely a manufacturing flaw and it is only a matter of time before someone dies. the car already has surged into a pole once, it is getting bad. *tr

2006 ford freestyle lunging forward when in gear, slightly hit garage door......i think a throttle body issue. not repaired yet. *tr

Car will intermittently and suddenly surge forward or backward while in 0 speed condition such as during parallel parking and moving the shift lever from d to r or r to d. rpms increase during the surge without anything touching the accelerator pedal.it is required to slam the brake pedal to keep the car from hitting whatever or whoever is in front or rear of the vehicle. very scary and dangerous! this is a "popular" problem with 2005-2007 freestyles and is now known to be caused by a defective throttle body. replacement cost is anywhere from $800-$1000 at a ford dealership. this is clearly a safety issue that need to result in a vehicle recall for repair.

While at a stop or putting the car into gear, the car will suddenly surge forward or backwards depending on putting the car into reverse or drive. this also will occur while sitting at a stop and getting ready to accelerate. the problem has been researched many times, and i come back to one conclusion a bad throttle body module. we have been very fortunate not to have an accident yet, but we are waiting. this is a fairly regular occurrence and i am looking into replacing the part, but i keep seeing post everywhere saying this is a back order item. *tr

2006 ford freestyle surges while backing up and going forward at slow speeds and sometime at idle. this is an ongoing problem that i have noticed for over the last 60,000 miles , but it seems to be getting worse. have ordered a new throttle body but is on backorder. *tr

2006 ford freestyle accelerating. *tr

My 2006 ford freestyle began to lurch forward in reverse after idling for a few moments. if i slammed on the brakes to keep from hitting something/someone, the car died. the transmission light would come on. if i was able to keep the car from dying, it would lurch forward in drive as well. this went on for days until finally, i had to restart the car twice to get it to operate normally, and then the check engine light came on. i took it to the dealership, and they were looking at it. they mentioned "it might be the throttle body." i decided to google it, and lo and behold, hundreds of complaints about this issue! they knew good and well what was wrong with my car all along! *tr

2006 ford freestyle surges and changes speed at both high and low speeds. last weekend it happened while pulling into the garage. car about took out the backside of the wall. i have an appointment with ford service tomorrow to have it looked at. based on all the other reports filed here about this issue, it sounds like the root cause has not been established nor ownership taken by ford for this issue. *tr

2006 ford freestyle has developed a major throttlebody problem. with the engine running and the car in either drive or reverse with foot only on the brake, not the accelerator, the engine will accelerate and cause the car to lurch forward in drive or backward in reverse. there is no warning that it is going to happen. the lurch is powerful enough to move the car 1-4 feet even with the brakes fully depressed. we have barely avoided a bicycle crossing at a red light, cars at a stop sign, and garage walls. the car is in the shop now and ford corporate refuses to recognize the problem and is happy to charge over $800.00 to fix. this is a huge safety issue. this is a very popular family vehicle. this lurching happens without warning, if you do not have your brake pedal firmly planted on the floor the car easily lurches 1-4 feet before you know it. someone is going to be seriously injured or killed without any action. this just started to happen to my car, but if you look at the number of complaints about this on various websites it is clearly a huge vehicle wide problem not just with a small handful of vehicles! ford needs to recall this part immediately before serious injuries occur. *tr

My 2006 ford freestyle has begun to surge and accelerate unexpectedly. if you are not careful, you will find yourself in a car accident without even knowing what is going on. i took it to the dealership and they said that there is a tsb for this issue and it is due to a faulty throttle body and mass air flow sensor. however it is not a safety concern therefore no recall needed. *tr
