January 2015 went to accelerate from stop at traffic light, indicator light on dash came on transmission went into limp mode.had vehicle towed needed a transmission rebuild with torque convt. had 177k at that time at cost of $2700.00. october 2019 similar situation occurred no warning lights no slipping, banging or anything out of the ordinary. stopped at traffic light, went to accelerate and car felt as if it was in neutral. had car towed to transmission shop, was told it will need a rebuild with another torque convt. at approx. same cost. vehicle now has 233k miles on clock. this vehicle has been a real reliable asset to our family. this transmission lasted almost 5 years with approx. 56k miles. i would like to purchase another ford , but concerned about the drive train as i drive this vehicle very easy. thank you for looking into this concern.
Just recently bought 05 ford freestar van, 3 months ago in my driveway it refused to go forward, i parked it because i had something else to drive. morning of december 30, 2019 my other automobile timing chain broke so i've been trying frantically to fix this van, i've replaced air cleaner sensor, throttle body sensor, and speed sensor. nothing. i have reverse but no drive, engine seems to run fine. so i checked for recalls. i just don't know if manufacturer is still liable. 05 ford freestar van, miles 211375, vin#[xxx]. my name: [xxx] if you need anything else please let me know. i don't know how this process works. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Transmission cant shift car out of park without trying several times also transmission has trouble shifting out of first gear car tjhen has trouble picking up speed when you first pull onto the road creating a dangerous situation for getting rear ended by other cars
Driving home from store after getting dinner which is only 2.2 miles away, made it 2 miles back home. stoped at stop sign started to accelerate up a small incline, engine revved to red line. so i coasted to side of road, shut off vehicle, then started it to try and let it reset, it would not go at all or try to go into any gear only park will work. after letting it sit it will still not go into any gear or move at all. the transmission fluid is full and does not smell or look burnt, engine runs great and starts with no problems. i have seen that this is not the first complete made about this happening to this type of vehicle. it was made in may of 2005 and is considered a 2006.
[xxx] 2004 ford freestar has a torque converter recall which may cause the vehile to stall at suddenly without warning. as i was driving freeway speeds the van suddenly lost power as i was in the #3 lane on the bay bridge. with that being said, i tried to get to the safest location possible. then had it towed to michael stead ford and the diagnosis states that the torque converter doesn't resolve the issue. with the sudden loss of power and failure of the torque converter it lead to additional parts to be damaged and ford motor company wont cover the damage information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tt
