We have classified the 206 complaints from 2013 Ford Focus about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle's speed reduced independently and the check engine warning light illuminated. the failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. the mechanic replaced the clutch, the transmission was removed and sealed because of a leak, and the computer was reprogrammed; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 16,000.
While traveling on the freeway the car just died. engine shut off, how ever all the electrical in the car were still working. once pulling off the free way, the car started after several attempts but then died shortly after. the car then would not work. after getting the car towed to quirk ford in quincy they had to keep it as a code they do not know what it means came up, so they do not know how to fix the car. the car is still in the shop to this day and they wont give me a rental. *tr
Passenger side tail light is out (brake light bulb fault warning light is on). after several bulb changes, the brake light either does not come on or it burns out very quickly. an on-line search revealed that this is a common problem and ford has done nothing about this safety concern. i do not know when this problem first started because it may have been a long time before someone else noticed it and alerted me. the problem is present as soon as the key is turned on.
This is similar to the car that i am driving (another ford focus electric). my daughter was driving the car to school at the intersection of roseville parkway and douglas boulevard, in roseville, ca to day at about 7:15 am for no apparent reason, the car stopped. she was waiting for the light to turn green. my daughter freaked out and called me. i asked her to shut the car off, open one of the doors, wait for one minute and try to start the car again. after the second attempt the car started. lucky for her, the other cars switched in the other lanes and she was able to move the car. again. this is happening too often and feel this is a safety hazard. same thing has happened in same model and make car that i drive. *tr
Driving home from school with my grandson and the car started to jerk as we crept in the line of traffic. almost sounded as if it was ready to stall! this car has just over 5000 miles on it and i enjoy driving it but this problem has persisted and is a safety issue as jerking makes it difficult to judge how close to get to the car in front of you ( because the "slipping " in and out of gear surges forward ) and could cause an accident. even at speeds up to 35-45 mph the hesitation makes me feel as if it is going to stall. so today i researched the problem and am shocked to find this is a major issue and needs to be addressed asap by ford. also the door locks don't work properly when using as the manual states. i plan to be at my dealership first thing in the morning. *tr
When you drive the car from 5 - 20 minutes and when you remove the seatbelt - there is no alarming sound and no light on the dashboard. but, when you turn off the engine and start again, you can hear the alarm and the light will appear on the dashboard when you remove the seatbelt. concerns: if the driver stop (for driving let say 5 - 3 minutes) for example and he remove the seatbelt for whatever reason, he might forgot to fasten the seatbelt as the car will not alarm and no light will illuminate on the dashboard. note: the local dealer tested the same car model/year and having the same result - no alarm and lights on the dashboard when unbuckled after driving 5-20 mins. *tr
Upon startup, the car idles rough and the rpms drop until the ecu catches it and the rpms increase. the problem becomes more frequent as the car is driven. at times, the rpms will drop so far that the car will stall. the problem tends to get worse as the car heats up. it has stalled multiple times when come to a stop at an intersection or to park. for example, i went out to start the car after about 20 minutes of it sitting after 40 minutes of mixed commuting and the car could not keep an idle. it stalled on me 3 times and felt like it was going to shake itself to pieces. i finally got it started by holding down the throttle and i was able to move the car. it was 60-63 degrees out on april 3rd, 2014 in southeastern ct when this problem occurred. the problem also seems to get worse as the air temperature increases. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shifted into a different gear independently. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the computer needed to be reset. the vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 17,328.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. the contact stated that while in reverse, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and moved forward. the contact also stated that the navigational system could not be activated with the navigational button and the speedometer provided two different speed readings. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for further inspection. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 100 and the current mileage was 5,633.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. the contact stated that the vehicle vibrated excessively intermittently and hesitated to accelerate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 14v495000 (electrical system). the dealer stated that the wiring harness would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure previously occurred in 2014 and the vehicle was taken to be repaired. the failure mileage was 3,000.
Car: ford focus ev (all electric) - second report on nhtsa website on this specific vehicle failure: incident: while backing out of packing space in costco parking, i started to shift from reverse into drive. all of sudden, the car shut down and had complete loss of power. i could not move the auto transmission shifter out of the (n) neutral position. the weird thing was that as you looked at the dash board panel, it said the car was in (p) but the shifter was physically in neutral and the car acted as if in park (wheels in gear - can't push it). the car had no power and i was stranded in the parking lot lane between parking stalls. i called my husband and fritz ford in riverside, ca (where i recently bought the vehicle). fritz called a tow truck to get the car and my husband came to pick me up. being that the focus ev is new, the tow truck driver was a little confused on how to get it on the truck as the car would not move and the transmission was locked in neutral. fritz still has the car after 5 days claiming there is no issue with it. hmm? *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate, surged forward, and the transmission warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 15v813000 (electrical system); however, the failure recurred two additional times. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.
Vehicle stops middle of no where abruptly. *tr
Vehicle warning "stop safely now" appeared and the ev lost all its motive power and stalled. repeated attempts to restart the vehicle failed.
Car:2013 ford focus ev. noticed "stop safely now" light on at stop light just after exiting freeway off winchester rd in temecula, ca. was able to accelerate to get onto wincheter road traveling west going down hill and nervously coasted down hill noticing the steering becoming difficult. thankfully the left turn light was green so i was able to coast thru the intersection and get on jefferson road. i attempted to accelerate, however, the car was unresponsive. i immediately pulled into the first available parking lot off of jefferson road - pollo loco parking lot and turned vehicle off. call husband to come get me. he turned vehicle on without incident and drove it home with out issue. working with dealer for next steps. call fritts ford as i talked to daniel in service and he reported that another focus ev owner just reported teh same issue and was on the way to the dealership on saturday, 21.sept. this problem is perhaps much bigger than we think?! fyi: dealership = fritts ford, riverside, ca car purchased on sunday, 15.sept.2013. owed the car for 6 days.
This applies to a ford focus electric, not a gasoline model. was traveling approximately 30 mph when "stop safely now" indicator appeared. vehicle slowed and came to stop within a few seconds while still in traffic lanes. i placed the car in park and switched the system off, then on again. it started normally and drove normally for approximately 50 miles while i went home. there is no apparent valid reason for the vehicle to stop itself. under other circumstances this could have been extremely dangerous. checking reports on the internet, it appears that this problem is very common, and many people have reported repeated occurances of this problem. weather at the time was moderate (70 to 75 degrees f). this is a new car (two weeks old, approximately 1350 miles) while i don't suggest that the following are contributing factors, i list them because they were unusual for me and this may be helpful to reviewers looking for common circumstances: 1. the vehicle had been given a level 1 (120 volt) charge earlier in the day, bringing the state of charge from approximately 60% to 70%. this is unusual because i usually use level 2 (240 volt) charging. 2, the vehicle had been switched "on" with the air conditioner operating for about an hour but without driving anywhere. the problem occured shortly thereafter, after driving approximately two miles. 3, no other unusual circumstances were noted. car drove normally before and after this incident.
This is for the ford focus electric. i was driving on a busy road going approx 50 mph when all of a sudden i lost power and had no acceleration a message came on the display that said stop safely now in red with a exclamation point inside a triangle at that point i was a hazard to other drivers as the vehicle was slowing down as i was trying to merge to the right hand side. i finally was able to stop and i turned off the vehicle. i let it sit for a minute and tried to restart and it would not, i tried a second time and it finally came up ready to go. i contacted the dealer and they advised me to take to the service dept in the morning. this was a safety hazard that needs to be fixed. *tr
Traveling at approx. 35 m.p.h. on county road, pull over safely light came on, unable to pull over immediately due to traffic, traveled a short distance in attempt to find a shoulder to pull onto, car died in a curve. no power at all. *tr
This is regarding ford focus electric vehicle 2013 model. this is the second time it has happened. while driving it suddenly beeps and displays message "stop safely now" and car just stalls and stops running. quite dangerous while driving. it has been to ford dealership after the first incident and they were not able to diagnose the issue and after a couple of weeks that i got back the vehicle, it happened again. it is again in the service center of ford dealership, but they still do not know why this happens or what is the fix. this needs to be addressed by ford asap as it is a huge safety issue. *tr
While driving the car at any point in time the car starts to sound like its going to die almost like i'm driving a standard but i'm not. i mostly notice it when driving in town. yet i have noticed it when going faster as well. i purchased this vehicle brand new. i was never informed of this being "normal". i have taken the vehicle in. the person working on my vehicle said they drove it and noticed the issue. stated that resetting the computer system would resolve this problem. yet after having this redone. not even an hour later i notice the issue has not be resolved and is still happening. i am afraid that i will get into a wreck, not to mention i have wasted my money on this vehicle. i feel as if i am throwing my money away completely. when talking to my sales man after having this issue not resolved. he tells me that this is an issue that everyone complains about though ford states this is normal. i have had many vehicles in my life and this is by far not normal. if this vehicle did this while i was test driving the car. i would not have purchased this car ever. something needs to be done about this issue. do we need to wait until someone is seriously injured from the defect before something will be done. ford... fix this!! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle would not shift into the next gear without warning. the vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the shaft sealer fractured and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred on three other occasions where the shaft sealer was replaced each time. the contact also stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle would not shift into the next gear after the transmission warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module needed to be reprogrammed. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer and was diagnosed that the transmission control module was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 9,600.
My daughter was driving our new 2013 ford focus electric home from school at approximately 35mph when the "stop safely now" message appeared on the instrument panel. she started to pull over to the side of the road but before she could get safely to the curb, the car shut down. she was unable to get the car started and we had to have it towed to a ford dealer. after reading about this 'stop safely now" warning online it seems to be a common problem. i understand that cars break down but completely disabling the car in this way could lead to a serious crash. *tt
We were driving home and had been on the road using cruise control for approximately 2 1/2 hours when the vehicle shut off completely going from 70 mph to no power or electrical. we were fast lane on i-75 north and the car was without any power or hazard lights. we attempted to restart the car several times and finally it started after 5 minutes. luckily a car stopped and had their hazard lights on. since then our car fuel has decreased to 12 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway. when you take off car bogs down and you have to mash hard on the gas to get it to move. the idle is rough and you can feel it running rough. we have had it into the dealership five times and since car does not code they will not work on it per ford's policy. thus, we have that ford has advertised will get 28 in the city and 40 on the highway which we did get the first month before it died on the highway. since then we are afraid to drive using cruise on a trip. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. the contact stated that while at a stop, the vehicle stalled and the stop safely warning light illuminated. the contact mentioned that the vehicle failed to restart. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 1,900.
This is an electric vehicle. while approaching an intersection, the "stop safely now" light came on. i attempted to accelerate to make it through the intersection, but realized i had no power. i coasted to a stop at the curb. there was a hazard symbol displayed, but i could not bring up any other information to give a clue what might be behind the problem. i noted the green vehicle symbol light was off, indicating power is not available to the drive train. i tried doing different things to restart the car, but all attempts failed. the car was towed to a ford service center. after the car was rolled backwards off the tow-truck flatbed, i tried once again to start the car. it started right up, as if nothing had been wrong. *tr
This is actually the 3rd time in a month this occurred. the "stop safely now" warning comes up. 1st time on 7/29, i was able to safely pull into a parking lot. the car would not restart, and the wrench symbol displayed. turned off and tried again 5 minutes later, and the car worked fine. the next day, the car gave no notice as i moved to accelerate at a green light. a clunk, and no power, and the "stop safely" now warned occurred at the same time. i turned the hazard lights on, a pedestrian assisted me in pushing the car out of the traffic. it restarted 5 minutes later, i drove it straight to the ford dealership. they replaced the computer did the software update. after waiting over 2 weeks for the car, the "stop safely now" occurred again 5 days after being released from the dealership. this time, i was able to safely pull over. i took it back to the dealership, and do not know how long it will to take to fix the issue. i no longer feel safe driving this car, knowing the power can be disabled anywhere at any time. i hope ford takes these issues seriously. *tr
Car stalled with some warning messages for no reason. after complete turn-off restarted normally. happened in traffic and could result with accident. *tr
I lease two ford focuses; one for me and one for my daughter (under my wife's ownership). the car has stalled on me twice and once on my daughter. the first time it happened at speed of 35 miles per hour in june 2013 and the second time at less than 2 miles hour in august 2013. the first time, it asked me to pull over to the side and stalled. i pulled over and parked the car, looked at the wheels thinking that it may have happened due to low air, however, nothing. i shut down the car and then restarted after two minutes, it started just fine. that is until the second time when it actually happened at the corner of 11th and j street in sacramento, ca. i got out of the city garage made a right turn on 11th to make a left on j street. at the light, it just shut down with the warning without ability to pull over. i had to waive the drivers behind me to go around. i could not do much. same thing, after two minutes, the car restarted. at both times, the car was fully charged. similarly, this happened to my daughter, who freaked out and she called me. i told her it may be glitch as it had happened to me the first time around. she pulled over, parked, waited for two minutes, restarted and so far her car is fine. whom should i report this to? the first time, it gave me time to pull over, however, the second time, it just shut down. i thought ford knew about it thus did not report. please help me report this. i love the car as there is no more gas station trips, however, it needs to be addressed. When driving on residential roads, i often feel my 2013 ford focus stall or jerk. often times there are glitches in the electrical wiring of locks and also in the radio. the door will stay locked after hitting the unlock button on the inside multiple times. the radio will not turn on, unless i turn off and re-turn on the car. as for the stalling, it often stalls when going anywhere from 30-65 mph. *tr
This applies to the ford focus electric. i was backing out of my driveway when i heard a load clunk. i instantly felt the power steering fail and the motor cease function (lost all power rendering me immobolized in the middle of the street). the dash displayed the warining "stop safely now". this indicates an electrical fault. note the battery had a full charge. the symptom persisted.as i was able to drive a few blocks with the same behaviour. i was able to drive the car back to my house and called roadside assistance. i was lucky i was not on the freeway when this happended. *tr
While driving an alert comes on stating "stop safely now", then the vehicle starts to lose power, giving the driver little time to pull over. if you are in the far left lane, it could be a really dangerous situation. i've taken it to the shop once before. this is the second time it happened and it is becoming an issue of concern. from the internet searches on ford focus electric stop safely now it appears to be a pretty large issue. *tr
Shifts rough (hard),slips when going up hill, put it in park you have to use e brake, clicks loud if sitting on a hill rolls back some and makes loud noise as if park is not hold the car still engine makes starting noise for hours after turning engine off. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford focus. the contact stated that while stopped at a stop sign the vehicle stalled. the contact stated he was able to restart the vehicle after waiting approximately thirty minutes. the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was awaiting inspection from a ford engineer. the approximate failure mileage was 889. *tr
I was coming back from school to my house. the engine light came on asking me to pull over safely. i did that, the car stalled. i freaked out, and called my dad. he said not to worry as it had happened to him in his ford focus electric too. he asked me to wait for two minutes and then restart the engine. i did that, the car was fine then. please talk to my dad if you have any questions. his contact information is listed below. This is a focus electric. while stopped in an intersection waiting to turn left, the stop safely now light illuminated and the car shut down. i was able to shift into neutral and get the car out of the intersection. after a few cycles of the start/stop button the car started again and resumed normal operation. *tr
While driving residential streets at approximately 25mph, the car sounded an unfamiliar warning tone along with the message "stop safely now" - at which point, i coasted the car to a stop (unfortunately this happened to be in the middle of an intersection). even though i had no throttle control at this point, the car refused to shut down after multiple presses of the "start" button. i eventually took my foot off the brake, hit "start" again, opened the door and this seemed to cycle the car to "off" mode. i then tried again to start the car and it worked - after about 10 seconds of driving the "stop safely now" error came on again. i pulled over this time and shut the car down for 10 minutes - i was able to later drive the car home. waited an hour and decided to have my wife video tape me while driving incase this happened again.. the error occurred 3 more times and is all on tape - all while coming to a stop or accelerating from a stop. i shudder to think what would happen if this occurred on my normal commute on the carpool lanes of the 405 or 110 -or worse, decided to power down in the middle of a left hand turn!- this would be a huge liability and safety risk for myself and family. the car is currently with ford and i'm in a rental until we have a resolve - i didn't find out until after signing a 3 year lease that this is now a well known issue (at least to the nhtsa and on many ford forums and in articles on the internet) it's an amazing car and i hope ford figures this out very quickly. *tr
This complaint applies to the focus electric. while turning into a parking lot, going approximately 5mph, the vehicle abruptly lost power, the "stop safely now" warning light came on, and i coasted the car to a halt at the side of the lot entrance. no other warning lights illuminated. although the vehicle was inoperable, it also could not be turned off. usually, pressing the power button to turn the car off disconnects the high voltage battery from the rest of the electrical system and shuts the car down, but in this situation it would just cause the warning bell and "stop safely now" light to pop up again in the instrument panel. after maybe 45 minutes, right as the tow-truck driver arrived, i was suddenly able to turn the car off by pressing the button. it then functioned normally when turned back on. luckily i was in a reasonably safe situation when the failure occurred. however, many similar complaints exist for the focus electric (many more in public forums than here), and the failure has occurred on the highway and in traffic for some people. clearly the issue needs to be addressed. *tr
During a road trip while on a highway onramp going mostly straight at gradual acceleration, experienced complete failure of the computer system, beginning with erratic changing of gears rocking me back and forth in my seat, to infotainment display shutdown, to engine stopping. had to exit highway and 'reboot' the system to continue travelling. after initial repairs, still experienced harsh gear shifts up to and including present day. gear shifts could easily affect the control of the vehicle. to my understanding, the fault is how the computer uses the dual-clutch system to shift gears. i have been told that at times, the car did not know what gear it was in. there have been multiple recalls regarding these issues with this and other ford models with this clutch system. there are other work reports, but i was unable to fit them within your upload limitations.
Traveling on a road. stopped at a stop sign. when the pedal was pressed the car showed an error of "stop safely now" and refused to move. the car had to be pushed around the corner of the intersection while vehicles tried to pass. *tr
On sunday june 23, 2013 at approximately 3:00 pm on or about buffaloe rd at southall rd in raleigh, nc, we were heading west bound in the right lane of buffaloe rd. approaching a green light. approximately, 700 ft from the limit line, the light changed to yellow and we slowed to stop. stopping was a little more firm than the slow paced regenerative charging, a noise was from the front was heard, resembling that of a loose brake pad hitting metal and the vehicle them sounded a warning and flashed "stop safely now" visual warning as we came to a full stop at the limit line at the light. although there was no power to the motor, the system was active and the green go car was not visible. we attempted to reset the vehicle by powering off and powering on to no avail. the light turned green and cars began to sound their horns. i immediately activated the emergency flashers and stepped out the vehicle to direct traffic around the stalled vehicle (not recommended unless properly trained). traffic on several instances came dangerously close to collision as this situation presented a huge risk to personal safety. had we just sat in the vehicle, we surely would have experienced a collision. several minutes passed and we attempted to restart the vehicle from a cold start. it was only after the vehicle was completely shut down, rested and powered on that we were able to proceed. having a vehicle just stop in traffic for no reason presents a huge risk not only to the owner but those around. *tr
While traveling at approximately 50 mph on a busy highway, the car suddenly lost power and the "stop safely now" warning was displayed. this vehicle is the ford focus electric. the car would not respond to the accelerator and was coasted to a stop on the side of the road. the highway patrol promptly showed up to lecture on how this was a unsafe place to stop. no kidding. it was explained that we had no choice. internet research has shown that this condition has happened several times to ford focus electric operators. one ford spokesman has been reported to say that like a gas car, this warning is similar to the "check engine" light and can be caused by any number of things. however, unlike a gas car, when this happens on a focus electric it may render the car powerless and may expose the driver to a very unsafe condition. *tr
I bought my vehicle in 2013, new from the local dealership. after owning the vehicle for a few days we noticed the shuddering on acceleration. immediately called the dealership and was told this was break in time. a few months into owning the vehicle, the transmission failed, we brought it into the local ford dealership again, and had the transmission flushed and work done to it. since then the vehicle has been to the shop four times for the same issue of the transmission and the electrical system flashing and shutting down. the vehicle will shudder upon acceleration. now no lights, brake lights, dash lights, will come on. the vehicle will run, but you have no idea how fast you are going, you have no turn signals, the 2013 ford focus is a time bomb. ford will offer us no solution except to bring it in and look at it. after bringing it in four times i do not feel comfortable bringing it back and having it not completely repaired and having to put more money into this vehicle when it is not going to be properly fixed. i am not sure how failing transmissions, and electrical issues are not considered safety issues and put on immediate recall but i must assume it is because i am not a mechanic, but stuck with a lemon that ford refuses to acknowledge there are issues with.
Car is equipped with voice command. when i use voice to turn on heat or ac, i will say for example, climate 68. the car will respond, setting climate 68. then it does not turn on. if i touch the climate touch screen it then comes on at 68, even if it was previously set at 75. been to the dealer repeatedly for two software updates, once pulling out the control box per fords request to check the part number and once to have the 8 pin control module replaced. now waiting for ford engineering to come up with a fix. *js
My car has had the steering fixed, the alternator replaced and the clutch fixed 5-6 times in 6 months. my transmission/clutch is still not repaired. someone is going to die in this car and i can't afford to get rid of it so i am forced to put my life in danger every day. i have a lemon law attorney and ford will still do nothing. i paid $1095 for an automatic transmission and i do not have an automatic transmission. ford committed fraud with this sale. *tr
Ford focus electric vehicle stops suddenly with "stop safely now". when this occurs driver (me) looses all ability to accelerate. this even occurred today and left us in danger on the highway while we nervously waited for professional assistance. many reports of this exact issue with this make/model vehicle on the public forums. concern of loss of power train could mean injuries or death depending on the moment a car looses it's ability to drive while mobile. *tr
I purchased the 2013 ford focus brand new on 2-09-13. car barely has 1800 miles on it. while slowing down in a school zone to 15mph, i noticed the car seemed to lose power, and feel shaky. once past the school zone i accelerated to 20mph and car shifted roughly into gear with a bumping noise. i pulled over and stopped and turned off the engine. after restarting car initially seemed fine. exactly one week later same thing happened again when in supermarket parking lot. this time however the orange engine service light that looks like an outline of the engine appeared on the dashboard panel. i stopped the car again. when restarting the light went out but reappeared on the 2 mile drive home from the store. car also seemed to lose power and not accelerate when i needed it to. i called my dealership 1st thing and was told it's most likely a sensor issue and very minor but i made an appointment and took the car in. the dealership ran computer diagnostics and service mgr. came in and told me 2 error codes showed up of transmission malfunction/ and possible failure! a brand new car!!! they started talking about replacing the transmission and the on board computer, etc.. but dealership can't repair my car at this time because a specialist they don't have on staff needs to be called in. so i have an un safe, unreliable new car sitting in my driveway. 15 calls to dealership and to ford's customer relations number and i can't even get an appointment to get the car looked at further to determine how defective it is!!! what a lemon! no matter how this is resolved, will never do business with ford again. they seem unconcerned with the safety issues this defect is causing and they have the worst customer service i have ever dealt with!! *tr
Every recall event for my 2013 ford focus, i have encountered. after a year and half of continued trips to and being without my car for service. the transmission issues still not resolved along with the electrical issues. the stereo display goes blank, at times shows incorrect date and clock jumps to different hours. the car lunges forward when you get to about 25 to 30 mph or hesitates when you excel. when you put in park it will lunge forward or act like you've popped the clutch even when brake is on. it shudders, has bump & bang noises, lunges, suspension noises. i can feel bumping/thumping under my feet when turning corners. have had issues with the gas tank assembly and fuel system gauge (this part has been fixed) continued issues with the digital panel, intermittent erratic cluster radio, clock and sync issues that the service department cannot duplicate. when i have issues with the digital panel, i take a picture. once i turn vehicle off and back on it sometimes clears it up. i've complained about tires noises and ride, they say tires are fine. i went to the dealership to just trade it in and the dealer suggested i contact ford motor to have them buy it back. i have placed a complaint on the ford website, but have yet to receive a response. i am afraid to drive this vehicle but have no other choice. do i have to ruin my credit by just dropping my vehicle off and walking away for them to take back. ford motor company does not make it easy to talk to someone regarding my vehicle. they should be more accessible now before something tragic happens. *tr
Vehicle abruptly lost drivetrain power and came to a sudden stop in the left-hand lane of a major surface street in san jose. the vehicle suddenly displayed the warning 'stop safely now". attempts to restart or reboot the car failed leaving us dangerously stranded in moderate traffic for over 20 minutes until a nearby resident helped us to push vehicle to safety. all electrical systems on the vehicle continued to function but the vehicle was immobilized. pushing the vehicle was very difficult, as if the brakes were engaged. the ford dealer reported that the regenerative braking system was engaged and could not be disengaged. ford dealership reported over 30 diagnostic trouble codes appearing on the vehicle that proved to be misleading. inexperience of service team with electrical vehicles provided low confidence that they understood and repaired the cause of this failure. ford motor company instructed the dealership to replace the electric motor and control module. ford motor company agreed to refund or replacement of this vehicle. *tr

I bought a 2013 ford focus hatchback on march 22, 2013, less than two weeks. all sudden my car died wouldn't start. i called ford roadside assistance, the guy came and jump start my car 5-6 times in order to get car started, but the hood/ and dashboard had burning smells and it went dark completely, no lights display on dash, the signal light didn't even work too. i checked online, many people complaint ford focus has electrical wiring problem since year 2000, and it is continued using on year 2013 model, the wire cracking in insulation. ford should recall cars to fix their design problems, but i believe government needs to step in before the big 3 motor manufacturers would take consumers seriously. *tr
