I recently purchased this vehicle used less than a week ago. i have only driven it for about 75 miles. while driving down a busy street at 45 miles an hour the truck down shifted to first gear and simultaneously the speedometer stopped working. i kept control of the vehicle but if a vehicle would have been following closely it is possible if not likely to have rear ended me. i checked the vin and it states no open recalls. evidently the vehicle was serviced for one of the past recalls which clearly describes this same event as an issue. i will contact the dealership grey daniels ford in brandon ms where it was purchased for inspection.
I feel there is a transmission issue. when parked and starting the vehicle there is a loud bang from under the truck. it also shift harshly when driving at times, other times its shifts are delayed.

10 speed transmission has a pretty consistent history of shifting roughly, especially, shifting between gears 3 & 4. it actually fails to engage forward briefly and then makes a clanging noise before it shifts into 4th gear; in sport mode it will stick in 6th gear. i have reported these problems at least 4 times to shottenkirk ford in jasper ga when i have had scheduled maintenance performed. every time i've brought my truck in for service i was just told a different excuse and they found nothing wrong with the transmission. the most recent service the service department said my truck was 2 quarts low on transmission fluid and that should fix the problem. my most recent and most concerning incident occurred while i was driving down the interstate and suddenly there was a loud popping noise, the truck began to swerve because of loss of power and then it kept trying to shift in between gears and then i noticed white smoke coming from the rear of my truck. the cars that had followed me started to drop back because my truck was spraying what i believe to have been transmission fluid out. i was out ...
Over the past few weeks, my truck would loose power and go into limp mode randomly. i would pull over, turn the truck off, and back on. it would be okay for a couple of days and then occur again. this would happen in town and twice while on the freeway. i took it in today and had the code read: p2112 throttle actuator control system - stuck closed
Since shortly after purchased new, truck often lunges when you first cold start the truck, place it into gear with the foot on the brake, and place it into gear. it also appears to search for the correct gear while driving under normal conditions. also, occasions truck may "clunk" into gear while driving. service department reports they cannot recreate the issue but as i've stated, its not a consistent problem and there's no defining reason it would occur.
While driving 65 mph my 2013 f150 downshifted into first gear and locked the rear tires cause me to spin out of control. this caused minor body damage to the vehicles rear bumper, from hitting something off the side of the road. i called multiple dealerships and explained what happened at the beginning of febuary 2020. they explained that they could get me into fix the problem for about 20 days at minimum and even then they would have to keep it longer to fix it if there was something wrong. i explained that i almost rolled the vehicle after spinning out of control and asked if they could get it in sooner, the answer was continuously no from all of the dealers. i asked them if i should still drive the vehicle and they said it shouldn't be a problem to do so, i then stated so you want me to continue to drive the vehicle even though this happened and potentially get into an accident and injury myself and or someone else or permanently damage the vehicles powertrain. they still said that it should be ok to drive the vehicle. well it ...
Transmission shifts sometimes with really bad harsh jerks. at speeds below 50mph most of the time when pulling my boat trailer. this has happened several times in the last several months.
Cruise control shuts off during operation. intermittently will not turn on. analog speedometer will indicate speeds in excess of 40mph slower than real speed. stuck at 40mph when comes to complete stop.
My first timing chain went out at 59,000 miles the second timing chain has went out at 87,000 miles again. ford will not provide warranty on the second chain that only lasted 27,000 miles and a ford dealership done the repair.
