Was having trouble starting my truck one day. cranking and cranking but not firing. sometimes it would eventually fire, sometimes it required a jump to get it going. took it into ford, they replaced the battery. didn't happen for a few more days. same thing. crank, crank, crank, but wouldn't start. did some searching online, and found similar situation regarding a burnt/melted fuse 27 (the fuel pump fuse). ford knows about this issue so much that they even created a part to move the fuel pump to a larger fuse. i'm glad this issue only happened while sitting still and i was able to get the fused replaced without incident. however, i would imagine that soon my vehicle would have stopped while traveling due to the fuel pump fuse completely dying. also seems like a fire hazard, or it could do further damage to the fuse box or to surrounding fuses. ford should issue a recall for this immediately.
I drove my f-150 eccoboost truck to the snow, same area i have been hundreds of times and suddenly smoke burst from the engine, then flames shot out around the hood, popped the hood and fought the fire for half an hour, it kept restating. it stranded myself and children, and we had a harrowing experience that was pretty dicey. ford had just put in a new engine, at my cost, +14,000.00, after the timing chain failed. they would not repair it at their cost, even though i have copies of the fault codes from before the failure of the timing chain that destroyed the old engine. the new one had under 10,000 miles on the new engine, probably about 5,000 miles on it. we had driven on the relatively flat grade mainline road, and drove up about 0.8 miles, climbing maybe 400 ft elevation over that distance. i was in the process of turning the vehicle around when the engine burst into flames. it was on a gravel road. we had traveled from home, 35.2 miles.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford f-150. while accelerating from a stop light, the vehicle suddenly stalled, shut off, and the check engine and oil indicators illuminated. the vehicle could not be restarted and was towed to auffenberg ford (115 regency park, o'fallon, il) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump modulator was faulty and needed to be replaced. also, a fuse needed to be relocated. the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 130,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford f-150. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. the contact looked under the hood of the vehicle and noticed that the fuel pump module was burned on one side. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall for the fuel pump module to be replaced. the contact was referred to nhtsa to file a complaint. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 83,400.
My vehicle failed to start. after having the vehicle towed to my dealer, i was told the issue was a blown fuse. i asked them to replace and was told the actual fix is to relocate the fuse location based on a safety bulletin. i believe this is a major safety issue and after reading all the other complaints believe someone should take a closer look. if i had been driving on the highway when this known fuse issue happened i could have lost control and would have certainly lost power unexpectedly possibly causing an accident. ford has known about the problem for years but has continued to charge owners to relocate the fuse when the whole issue is a factory defect. if it was not a factory defect then the issue would not continue to affect so many vehicles on the road. i was lucky my fuse blew in my driveway but others are at risk should this happen while driving.
While driving at normal speed (35-45 mph) 4x4 warning light came on and vehicle lost all power on county road with light traffic. stopped vehicle and turned ignition off/on. began driving again and failure re-occurred with addition of "check enigne" light (error code p2112). first failure happened on 25aug16 ~26000 miles on vehicle while still under initial warranty while entering 70 mph highway. second failure happened on 8aug19 ~67000 miles on vehicle out of warranty while on 45 mph county road. each time throttle body (bl3z-9e926-b) was replaced by a ford mechanic at a dealership.
3 times in the last 2 months the engine stopped completely and without warning. we took it to the ford dealership twice and they could not detect a problem. we then took it to an independent asa master certified technician with 38 years experience. he informed us that ford has had this problem for years and will not admit there is a problem. throttle system was cleaned and we will see if this corrects issue. my problem is with ford and dealership that does not explain this to the customer. this is an extremely dangerous situation as the truck just stops with no warning at 70 miles an hour! ford should tell the customers what is wrong so it can be fixed instead of hiding the problem. i went on the internet and read about this happening to other people (a big orange wrench appears in display when it happens). they know what the problem is!! someone is going to die and may have already due to the lack of transparency. it's as if they acknowledge the problem they are admitting there is one and then become liable to correct it. this is a safety issue and people need to be made aware of it.
While traveling eastbound doing 65 mph and towing a travel trailer on i-10 (fl panhandle), the engine shut off. we were able to pull off to the shoulder because we were traveling in the right lane. after getting to a repair garage, we were told by a former ford mechanic that there had been a tsb issued for micro fuse #27 which controls fuel pump relay. ford has issued a repair kit to replace the fuse with a cartridge maxi fuse in the #70 empty spot on the fuse panel. the mechanic performed this fuse replacement and the truck is now running fine for 400 miles. the mechanic immediately knew the problem and stated that he had performed this repair "several times" while working for a ford dealer.
Got off the freeway, stopped at the stop sign proceeded to turn left, just as i was entering the intersection truck lost power and went into limp mode and would hardly move. i was barely able to get out of the way of an approaching semi tractor trailer before he went flying by. i was told later by the ford dealer that the problem was the throttle body, the same throttle body that ford replaced 1 yr and 4 months earlier. the dealer told me that he was amazed that ford had not done a recall on the throttle body, because they change roughly a few everyday that have failed, sometimes multiple times.
January 11, 2019 my eco boost fx4 was just at 65k on the odometer experienced a hard shutter like many on the forums say and wouldn't accelerate on the interstate. code came up misfire. replaced all my spark plugs, that aren't suggested for change for change until 100k. gap opened from .28 to .45. intercooler had a good bit of oily residue in it. i also since then installed a vapor catch can for over 400$. it's a shame you have to do that. also i recently had my rear defrost on the stop working on the model with the rear sliding window. which again has many complaints. fords fix is to replace the whole rear window at a heavy price. box being able to defrost is a major visibility issue especially in the winter. both issues have many complaint online and ford hasn't fixed either. the picture of the coke bottle is what drained out of the catch can by npr. it was 1 month of commuting and a 8 hour road trip.
When i am driving, and i attempt to accelerate(press gas pedal) the engine loses power. i then have to coast to a stop and put vehicle in park, turn engine off and restart, and drive on. sometimes it does it again.sometimes it doesn't. it's does it when i'm on road ways. dangerous it happens in traffic.
Throttle body failure while driving 70 mph on major highway with nowhere to pull over - total loss of acceleration while driving
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford f-150. while driving, there was an abnormal fuel odor in the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to sill-terhar motors (located at 150 alter st, broomfield, co 80020, (303) 469-1801) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 45,000.
I have a 2014 ford f-150 motor 5.0 i was stranded in the middle of the highway with all my family aboard in the middle of the night and 18 wheels speed close by my side . the truck just shut down on me without notice , on the dash it showed i still had 45 miles before empty and the light for the gas never went on . i called roadside assistance and they have to send a tow truck to pick us and left us at a dealer nearest to where the truck shut down . we did not have any idea if it need oil or gas my daughter drove about 4 1/2 hrs to get to us as we waited for at a 24 restaurant till she got to us we went back to the dealer to try to add gas to the truck and to our surprise the truck started on the first try . i heard there is a recall at this time on a ford focus that so happened to have the same part & problem we encountered . related with the gas tank
2014 f-150 3.5l ecoboost. engine will completely lose power and go into "limp mode" with orange wrench. dealer claims they cannot retrieve problem code so i bought a obd scanner and dtc code reads as p2112. this is the second time i will have to get the electronic throttle body replaced. the first time the truck had approx. 62,000 miles on it, this time it has approx. 111,000. this is absolutely ridiculous. both times this part has failed i have had my entire family in the truck and have had to literally dodge semi trucks and other cars nearly causing serious accidents to make it to a safe shoulder. waiting for a factory recall, i will not let this go. im afraid to drive this vehicle at this point.
Truck has 46665 miles. when driving first 10 minutes (city driving) vehicle shudders, shows wrench indicator and goes into limp home mode (no accelerator). have to pull over, turn off ignition and restart engine. problem code shows p2112 (throttle actuator control system...stuck closed). this may happen 3 times in first 15 minutes of driving, but then goes away when car warms up. i have also noticed abnormal exhaust smoke and bad gas mileage. having truck go into limp home mode in middle of traffic is very dangerous.
3 times this has happened, 1st time i had just filled up went to pull off and proceeded to get on highway, truck started to run rough and had no throttle response and wrench light came on. pulled off road, turned off, after a few minutes restarted truck and no problems the rest of the day. the 2nd time i was getting ready to get on the interstate and truck did the same thing started running rough, no throttle response and wrench light came on again. pulled on shoulder and shut vehicle off, restarted after a few minutes again after the restart no problems ( no check engine light either time). then on the same evening it did it again and in traffic this time and with no where to pull over. ford knows about the problem, every ford forum talks about the problem especially when it comes to the ecoboost. someone is going to get killed with this problem. took vehicle to dealer and there was a tsb to relocate the fuel pump driver fuse because they say it gets hot and shorts out( if that's the case it shouldn't do it right after initial start up). again ford is playing with people's lives; all they care about is the dollars. .
While travelling down any road the electrical throttle body will stop working putting the truck into a "limp home mode." ford has done a "consumer satisfaction program 13n03" for previous vehicles to the tone of 1.6 million vehicles. they have not fixed the problem at this point and refuse to acknowledge that there is a problem.
3 times within a 2 month period while driving, my truck displayed the wrench symbol in the evic screen and it went into limp mode.(the most recent was 2-28-18) pulled off to the side of the road, shut it down and restarted. than it worked as nothing happened. thank god i was not in heavy traffic or towing. this is an accident waiting to happen.
Warped exhaust manifold 2 times now within 6 months. 38k and 44k miles. exhaust leaks into cab of truck when under load and makes a loud squeaking noise.
Vehicle stalled out on off ramp entering interstate and happened 4 more times when driving or accelerating to interstate speeds. necessary to coast to shoulder of interstate and restart vehicle .... (previously in shop in shop 09/12/17 for ring and pinion)
Intermittent problem with truck not starting. took truck to ford dealer and they said they will need to installl a fuel pump fuse relocation kit. i asked the reason why and was told that this fuse will continue to short out until the kit was installed. truck is three years old and fuse location or some problem exists that will shut down fuel pump. no recall and no warranty? truck would not start for me about 10 to 15 different times. i'm glad the fuse did not short out while driving. no damage other then my time and $330.00 for diagnostic and repair "kit" from ford.
I have replaced two (2) electronic throttle bodies (etb's) on this vehicle in less than 68,000 miles. costs to me have been over $600 not including travel and inconvenience expenses. (last replacement was under "extended warranty" which i would not have purchased had ford advised me of the agreement with the nhtsa.) on 4march2014 the nhtsa reportedly reached an agreement with ford to avoid a recall because they would extend their warranty for up to 10 years or 150,000 miles for etb problems. i sure have not received this! the problem has always occurred when the vehicle was in motion, usually on a 65 mph two lane road, and resulted in the truck entering "limp mode". this has happened over 15 times over the two etb's and required a tow with the latest episode. with the latest problem, it took 3 visits to ford dealers, over 490 miles, with the truck only; plus a tow ($416) and over 392 miles on my wife's car (she followed me during the last two visits). i correctly diagnosed the problem with each the last ford dealer visits (3 in total) as an etb failure, and neither dealer would believe me until they saw the problem on the computer. the "limp mode" is extremely dangerous on a busy highway! we live in the mountains of colorado and must cross a pass (about 10,000 feet) to get to a ford dealer. to attempt to drive a vehicle that will only go about a mile or so, before again entering "limp mode" is very dangerous and foolish. i did file a complaint with ford, with both etb's, the latest case is supposed to be still pending (ford case #: cas 12832076). i have called the ford regional customer service manger 3 (three) times over the last two (2) days, and have not received a returned called on the cas 12832076. is this what the nhtsa agreed to? the next information provided only pertains to the last instance of this recurring problem.
2014 ford f150 ecoboost no power. i was stopped in center turn lane waiting to turn left across on coming highway traffic. after it was safe to cross i press the accelerator i discovered my f150 had not power. gas pedal had no response. truck would only move at ideal speed. very close to getting t-boned. the service wrench showed up on the instrument panel. the truck had a very rough ideal as i creeped off the highway. i had the truck towed to the dealer that had just repaired the timing chain and cam shaft phasers the week prior. dealer ran several tests and found no codes. they decided to replace the throttle body and motor assembly after checking oasis and found multiple hotline contacts with similar concerns. when pulling truck into service bay the throttle body stuck partially closed. i was very lucky to not get hit by another car when this happened to me. youtube video (2014-11-02 -2013 f150 limp mode) by mike wiles shows exactly what happened with my truck. please have ford recall this part before someone dies.
My son and i purchased a ford f150 at the same time, and he now has 60k miles, and his auto throttle body went out in traffic, and was close to causing an accident. ford charged him about $500 to replace it, he told them this should of been a recall, for they have known about this , and they said that this was now a safety issue. where in the world do they come off saying that. i would like to get them to replace mine before that happens to me, especially while passing another car. what can i do.
2014 ford f-150 looses power at random times while on the highway. had the throttle body replaced in june of 2016 because of same problem. contacted ford and they said i'm out of warranty and i would have to pay for any service repairs. i do a lot of traveling with a trailer and it quit dangerous in heavy traffic trying to fine a spot to pull over. i was in the fort pitt two mile tunnel in pittsburgh when this happened last week. screeching tires and horns blowing i limped it out of the tunnel. where i found a place to pull over. what can i do? frustrated ford customer.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford f-150. while driving 75 mph, the vehicle did not accelerate properly while passing other vehicles. additionally, the fuel mileage was not calculating correctly. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure in 2014. the failure mileage was 46,620.
The throttle body failed causing the vehicle to go into limp mode. this happened on a back road but if it had occurred on a two lane road while passing it could have been very dangerous. a trouble light came on but when the vehicle was turned off and back on again the trouble light was off and the truck would drive normally. the code was not held in the memory so the dealership would not change it under warranty. i know of one other person with the same year and power train that had the same problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford f-150. upon a personal referral, the vehicle was taken to a dealer to check if there was fuel in the engine oil within in the crank case. the presence of fuel was confirmed. the technician was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 7,200.
Fuel pump module. *tr
3.5 eco boost engine has a dead spot in it. mash on the gas pedal and doesn't do anything, then sprints off. it has done this several times. also there is a small roar at times coming from left side of engine when accelerating. the sprinting will occur other times when accelerating. haven't taken it back to dealer but i'm going to. *tr
2014 f150 ecoboost v6 - engine shudders and stalls upon rapid acceleration; issue has been addressed with "deflector shield" but this shield is already in place in my vehicle but the vehicle continues to have this issue - i feel the vehicle is unsafe but ford offers no assistance with resolution of the issue. *tr
During starts from a stop truck will not have any throttle response. push the accelerator more truck catches up after accelerator is mid way half throttle. dealership couldn't duplicate, reset throttle memory without any change as of 04/22/2015. *tr
Parked on a down slope vehicle will not start when gas is below 1/4 of a tank. my truck said i had 86 miles to empty. once the truck was taken to a level grade, it then started. *tr
