Problems with 2013 Ford F-150 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

On average, the 2013 Ford F-150 starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM and its various aspects after 63 723 miles.

Recently reported FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM problems on 2013 Ford F-150

Wrench (check engine) comes on for unknown reason and vehicle looses all throttle ability! has come on 7 times. has occurred driving at 25 up to 65 mph. today i was in the fast lane wrench came on and shut down throttle. i managed to cross 3 lanes in traffic. each time this has occurred i've stopped and shut off the engine. the restarted & runs fine. taken to ford as well as private mechanics but no codes saved. has happened 6 times. ford told me they cant fix without a code.

Fuse #27 burnt up and vehicle would not start because that fuse controls the fuel pump. this issue was addressed in tsb 15-0137. incredible to believe that something this simple has not been a recall for driver safety. vehicle luckily was not in motion when it happened. this most likely would not be an item located in a vihicle incident....so there is a good chance you have no idea how many deaths this has caused.

While accelerating quickly, but not so much as to spin the tires, the vehicle started "bucking". i was doing about 35-40 when it got pretty bad. the engine felt as if it was stopping and starting very quickly. it was actually pretty hard to control and it causes the truck to not allow me to accelerate onto the highway or even reach highway speeds. the check engine light started flashing and did not stop flashing for about 2 minutes. the truck would also not let me accelerate for that amount of time either.

Traveling 50 mph on a 4 lane road when engine shut off. had power to vehicle but no steering or brakes. i was able to get off the 4 lane highway successfully. the truck would turn over but not crank, after sitting 90 minutes, it cranked. took to ford dealership the next morning. they said it was the #27 fuse that controls the fuel pump. put a kit in to move the #27 fuse to an isolated location so it wouldn't get hot and malfunction. the cost was $250. i asked it there was a recall and they said no. i said someone is going to get killed because this is dangerous. the response was we have been getting a lot of these. i was lucky and was able to get off the road. the next person might not be as lucky. something needs to be done before someone is fatally injured.

While driving on major highway i lost power to my 2013 f150 6.2l. i had a tractor trailer on my right side and a jerk tailgating me. i finally managed to get the vehicle to the breakdown lane. i really thought i was going to be in a major accident.

Just outside of 60.000 mi warranty truck threw a code p2112. paying for it out of pocket i bought new tac unit and installed and cleared code truck ran fine up till 144.ooo mi .then began clattering upon 1st start up after sitting several hours .they said that it needed new timing set and tensioner. i bought and installed and replaced all timing componants. truck also began showing codes p2112 again and will only cut out while vehicle is in motion and under a load ..cylcle key and will start and drive a block and repeat only this time it throws the p2112 code and as long as the check engine light is on the truck wont stall as before.

My truck failed to start, and when i investigated the issue i found fuse 27 (located in the battery junction box at the front of the engine bay) melted causing circuit for the fuel pump to open which left the truck without a functioning fuel system (fuse 27 is part of the circuit for the fuel pump). replacing the damaged fuse resolved the issue while a more robust solution is determined. if this had happened during operation the vehicle would have lost power, been unable to steer due to an electric assisted steering system and become a hazard for other vehicles while putting the occupants of the truck, and any vehicle that collides with it, at risk for injury or death. ford issued a technical service bulletin (tsb 15-0137), but this is not commonly known outside of vehicle-specific social media platforms on the internet (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1449733-tsb-15-0137-fuel-pump-fuse.html). ford knows about the issue and the consequences are obvious. the fix ford recommends is inexpensive (under $30 in parts) and not very time consuming (0.6 flag hours).

Driving on major highway, 65-75 mph, lost engine power and had to pull over, trying not to cause a wreck, and stopped between busy highway and on-ramp to the highway. found that the engine had stalled and wouldn't restart. found #27 fuse melted. changed fuse and was able to restart engine. i don't like repairing ford's engineering mistakes, nor do i like being put in danger because of them. i use this truck for work and have a lifetime's accumulation of specialty tools kept in this truck for my job. if the truck goes up in flames, will ford replace what is lost? the way this fuse, fuse box, and the connection has failed looks as there can potentially be a fire. in my case, there was an interruption in normal traffic flow, at high speed, that could a resulted in a wreck, injury, death, etc. i will fix this, probably on my own dime. what i don't understand is why is this not required to be fixed by ford. it's an obvious safety hazard that even ford has acknowledged and provided a tsb to address the problem.

The truck shifts into emergency mode while driving and i have to pull over and stop shut off vehicle and restart. while in idle the vehicle shakes. it is at the ford dealer in beatrice nebraska and they have stated that the electric throttle body needed replaced... 400$ repair. also, air conditioning compressor went out 1500.00 repair on a 2013 vehicle!

Car started to rust quick had air bubles built up on vehical went to the nearest dealer to get that done they told me they cant do anything about it when i bought the car and the speed sensor they dont want to fix it for dealer is located on rt 30 in plainfield.and my feul meater on the dasboard is inacurate

Throttle body problems. i have 2015 f-150 ecoboost and for the 2nd time in 14 months have had to have my throttle body replaced. the engine dies while accelerating on the highway typically between 55-70mph and the wrench comes on. i have the coast the car off the side of the road avoiding speeding traffice, bring the car to a stop on the side of the highway and then turn the car off and on and it works. i've had it happy as many as 19 times on one trip.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. while driving and accelerating from a stop, the transmission malfunctioned and hesitated to shift into gear. there was also a shifting delay. the vehicle was taken to lou fusz ford (2 caprice dr, chesterfield, mo), but the failure could not be diagnosed. the contact also indicated that the fuel filler neck was faulty and caused fuel to spill out when refueling. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 60,000. the vin was unknown.

When i accelerate on the highway to merge or pass my truck looses power completely can not accelerate. it shudders for about 45 seconds check engine light comes on flashing and it suddenly comes back to life. i took it to my local ford and they said it was a high pressure pump that needed to be replaced. i replaced it and it is still having the same issue. this seems to be a common issue with these trucks. the more research i have done the more i find about this same issue. ford should be held liable and recall these trucks for this problem. i now have to take it to another ford dealership hoping they can figure it out. last ford truck i will ever own.

Due to throttle body failure, the truck has gone into a "limp" mode several times. needless to say for the truck to suddenly stop accelerating when on the highway or even when taking off from a stop sign could be deadly. i wonder how many people are dead because of this and were not able to tell anyone the accident was due to the failure and not because of their driving. not sure i want my wife or kids to drive anything made with ford's throttle body design. i see there was a customer satisfaction program 13n03 to fix throttle body problems instead of a recall. needless to say this customer is not satisfied.

I have a 2013 f-150 ecoboost. i was driving about 50 mph last night, 12/3/18 when it suddenly downshifted, causing the rear brakes to lock and tires squealed. i lurched forward in the seat. the speedometer went down and then back up to 50. it lasted all but seconds. i was able to drive home. i have left it in the garage since it is unsafe to drive at this point until i can get it to the garage. thankfully the road was dry otherwise i would have skidded out of control. i have about 110,000 miles on the truck. this has not happened before. the past few weeks however it has occasionally not shifted out of 1st or has started in 5th gear. this has been sporadic only. occasionally, when i start off, it will lurch forward. the vehicle has been maintained and has generally been a very good performing vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact noticed a burning odor and towed the vehicle to future ford lincoln (650 automall dr, roseville, ca 95661, (888) 656-7577). the dealer repaired a fuel pump and wiring that was heat damaged. the manufacturer was contacted and stated that they would call the contact back. the failure mileage was 49,000. *js

Billy cain ford sold a truck to me as low mileage with no carfax damage. salesman tom chacko promised a carfax report at closing. he failed to produce the report upon delivery to me at work. tom vowed the truck had no damages. carfax/auto check showed 4 brake failures and 2 alternator failures. greene ford verified flood damage 12-11-18. tom chacko denied their findings 12-12-18, requested written report. lemon squad documented flood damage 12-26-18. all three reports show consistent flood damage. jason pirkle warranty/finance manager refused to repair failed emissions stating they were not covered under my extended warranty purchase. the emissions coded 170mi after purchase indicating that code was reset before my purchase. the emissions damage was covered under emissions performance warranty coverage federal mandate. greene ford gladly repaired the emissions with no issues. jason pirkle presented the truck to wells fargo bank, state farm insurance, and ford motor warranty division as undamaged value. the truck only has salvage value because of the flood damage. over $5000 in repairs and 34 days in the repair shop. the truck has massive electrical issues from flood damage. i have not driven the truck since 12-11-2018. major efforts were taken to deceive the buyer of this truck. if billy cain ford had presented the truck truthfully i would have never purchased the truck. billy cain ford did a purchase inspection, maintenance service inspection, and complete detail so they had knowledge of flood damage. a registered mail request for buy back was sent to cody cain 1-17-2019 and he not responded to the request. billy cain ford has not made a honest written offer to resolve this issue to date.

The fuel pump fuse (fuse 27) overheats and burns out resulting in the entire truck shutting off at speeds. this happened to me at 65 mph on a highway leaving me with no engine at that speed.

Engine would crank but not start. the wrench emblem appeared on my instrument panel computer. the ford dealer said it was the fuse for the fuel pump had actually gotten hot and melted. it seem this is a very common problem with this vehicle. it was sitting in my garage, and would not start.

Vehicle power suddenly shutdown while driving down the freeway. after pulling to the side of the road, engine would only idle. engine would not rev up to a higher rpms. vehicle required towing to a repair center. the following 2 issues were found: 1. throttle body needed replaced. 2. fuel pump electrical circuit was heat damaged. the repair center told me they are starting to see more of these type of issues on these vehicles. the repair center moved this circuit away from the heat source causing the damage. this appears to be a design issue which could pose a safety problem. a recall should be issued for this problem.

The fuel management system blew the fuse. i looked online and saw where many people have had this happen and ford has a service advisory issued for this problem but charge the owner with making the correction to the defective wiring. they do not simply replace the mini 10 amp fuse but instead replace a part of the wiring and relocate it to a standard 20 amp fuse. when i explained my concern about engineering a fuel management system for a 10 amp rating and switching it to the 20 amp which could allow other parts of the system to overload he basically told me that ford had decided this was how they would fix the problem but now i have the concern other components of the system failing and sure enough it was less than two weeks later the fuel pump driver module failed causing my vehicle to stop running. the service manager also told me i was lucky as he had seen total melt downs of fuse panels from this defect. this has cost me $805 in repairs due to a faulty wiring design. the vehicle was stationary at the time, once in a parking lot and once in my driveway.

Fuel pump control module fuse burned out (fuse #27) and truck stopped running while on freeway without any warning.

Vehicle experiences hard downshift from higher to lower gears while driving at highway speeds on interstate highway, causing rear wheels to skid and vehicle to jerk. vehicle looses power with rpm indicator on dash showing engine revving at or above 1,500 to 2,500 rpms while driving on local roads and streets. when starting from a stopped position the engine rpms will climb to 1,500 to 2,000 and the vehicle will no move. the wrench indicator has come on 3 times but goes off if vehicle is shut off and restarted. additionally, the vehicle electronic control system does not store any codes to indicate the vehicle has experienced any problems. have taken vehicle to local ford dealer on 4 occasions only to be informed that no codes were present and vehicle did not act up while in their possession. also informed by dealer that unless code is displayed during diagnostic test ford motor will not pay for repairs unless code is displayed.

Vehicle went into limp mode during wide open throttle almost causing accident on hiway. problem happened over and over. found the 100,000 mile spark plugs failed

Truck went in to "limp mode" while accellerating to get on highway. vehicle decellerated. wrench light came on. vehicle was shut down and towed. found throttle body and motor assymbly defective

Driving in traffic friday of the long memorial day weekend, traveling at 75mph, no warning my f150 stalls. finally get pulled all the way to the shoulder. after sitting for an hour and getting help, it was found that the fuse for the fuel relay had melted. 50 cent part could have caused a deadly crash! why is there not a recall on this? mechanic that worked on my f150 said this is about the 12th one he had worked on. i also see that ford has issued a tsb on this exact same problem.

While driving to work today, and making a right hand turn, my vehicle completely shut off. that is, the engine died, the power steering died, and the brakes died while the truck came to a complete stop in the middle of the lane. let me reiterate - the truck completely died in the middle of the road and there was a complete loss of control over the vehicle. had there been another vehicle, object, or person in front of me, i would have likely collided with them (thankfully the road was empty) research has lead me to find that this is a known issue with ford and the f150 series from years 2010 to approximately 2014. fuse number 27 in the engine fuse box is undersized from the factory and melts due to the inability to handle the amperage. i found mine melted after today as well. ford has "addressed" this issue with a tsb (ford tsb-15-0137 see attached) which it charges customers for to replace the fuse and wiring for the fuse with a new, up sized fuse and wires. they do not cover this free of charge unless your truck is under warranty. as this is a glaring safety issue that numerous people have reported, i ask that the nhtsa investigate this and have ford initiate a recall on the affected vehicles, and make the repair free of charge to customers. this issue is a manufacturing flaw and one that has the ability to cause loss of life and property due to failure to control the vehicle. some forums where people have reported the same issue: http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f39/engine-cut-off-low-oil-pressure-warning-11894/index16.html http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f39/ford-raptor-fuel-pump-fuse-issue-45129/index37.html https://www.f150forum.com/f12/engine-shots-off-while-driving-402848/ http://www.f150ecoboost.net/forum/31-f150-ecoboost-problems/26113-engine-randomly-died-while-driving.html

Engine stalls out periodically. very dangerous in heavy traffic. this happens every time while in motion not sitting still. this is the eco boast 6 cylinder engine. has been numerous reports with others but ford still won't issue a recall on these engines. it has 89350 miles on it. i'm going to change the plugs & boots this weekend but i'm sure that will not solve my problem. ford is being stubborn on recalls. hopefully no one gets hurt in these vehicles before they issue the recall. thanks nhtsa.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. there were no warning indicators illuminated. upon researching the matter, the contact found that the fuel pump fuse was melting. the contact called a local dealer (moyer ford sales inc., 10111 state highway 59 s, directions foley, al 36535, (888) 699-3441) but was unable to speak with anyone. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was approximately 67,000.

Started about 1 1/2 months ago, while driving at speed, vehicle felt like it shifted into neutral. did not happen again til the next week. then was taking off at a light and it had no pick up. took into shop, no codes in computer, topped off transmission fluid. $97. following week went to pass a vehicle and the truck lost power and started to shake, engine light flashing. brought back to shop. still no code, but they changed spark plugs and fuel system flush. $440. was driving down the road rpm up to 3000, would not change if i pressed on gas or not, transmission shifting from 1-3 in random order. felt like brakes were locking up. driving 50 mph, rpm to 5000, speedometer from 50 to zero back to 50, brakes lock up. pulled over, shut off truck, restarted no problem. took to dealer i bought from, no codes could not help. took to ford dealer, said transmission lead frame needs repair $900, and main rear seal leaking badly. never was i low on oil or had an oil spot. looked up online several hundred of same vehicle with the same issues. no recall. ford said nothing they could do because warranty is up and it is not their problem now.

With a hard acceleration the truck blogged down & the engine service light came on. i thought the engine shut off so i pulled it down into 1st gear & it took off again. still sputters like there is water in the gas or something. light will not go off. pretty dangerous in heavy traffic. it actually didn't have any power what so ever. pretty scary. i read there were several complaints of the same situation. why has ford taken care of this as a recall?

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact stated that the vehicle cranked, but did not start. there was no warning indicator illuminated. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump was faulty and relocated the wiring case to the fuel pump. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. the failure mileage was approximately 88,500.

While in motion driving, the vehicle unexpectedly downshifts into first gear causing control issues. this happens on the highway as well as city streets.

Takata recall, my timeline on 01/12/2018 i took my 2013 to goodyear to get 100,000 miles service. i had cooling system flush, rear differential drain and refill, transmission fuild exchange and replace platinum spark plugs at time of service odm was at 10205. on saturday 01/13 transmission shift was not smooth, i took tuck back to goodyear. i was told that all checked out good, but another quart of transmission fluid was added. i drove truck on local street and on highway no trouble. on tuesday 01/15 when i left home running errands truck took hard shift. i took truck to goodyear, i was told that technician drove truck no trouble found. on wednesday 01/17 i left house two times. first time out no trouble. second time out i went out on my way back home truck hard shift several times. then there was a sound like a buzz saw. both trips where to the same location less than 4 miles round trip. on thursday 01/18 i called goodyear spoke with original service manager told him of trouble i wanted him to take a ride with me. we did he felt hard shift in transmission and heard buzz saw noise even dough sound was faint. he suggested and gave me a coupon for a free diagnostic test at aamco. i took truck to aamco on thursday 01/18 left truck over night. i picked up truck on friday 01/19, aamco found no trouble. on my way home truck was performing like it was before i took truck to goodyear. i was feeling good again about my truck then there was a unsmouth shift. several miles later a loud buzz saw sound. this is saturday morning i am going back to goodyear and see what should be my next move. again i had no trouble with truck before i went to goodyear. if i had transmission trouble i wouldn't have gone to goodyear to have it fixed.

Fuel pump fuse melted and i was doing some online research to try to find out the cost of part and repair, and notice a lot of ford owners having the exact same issue with the 2013 ford f-150

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failures continued. the vehicle was repaired on two different occasions. the vehicle was taken to five star ford lincoln (located at 711 e wishkah st, aberdeen, wa 98520, (360) 533-3673) where it was diagnosed that a fuse needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure continued. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 77,000. *bf the consumer stated the fuel pump was replaced for the 4th time. *tr

Throttle body errors p2111. vehicle suddently stalls and shutters. recall issued for other ford vehicles with this exact problem. f150 ecoboost also needs to be included. this almost causes my family to be in an accident. vehicle was traveling 32mph and coasting at the time. lost all acceleration

Electronic throttle body failure. this is the second time in 18 months that the etb has failed, causing the truck to go into limp mode while driving.

Vehicle was moving, was parking in my driveway when it stalled and wouldn't start. vehicle towed to mullinax ford, new smyrna beach, florida. invoice # 191885. the wire from the fuel pump/relay overheated and burned the wire and the fuse causing the vehicle to stop. fors is aware of this problem and even have a relocate kit el3z 14293 a to correct the problem. this should be a recall not a repair paid for by the customer. there is obviously a defect in the design and they even have a kit to correct.

Ford's ecoboost turbo has leak and needs to be replaced. acceleration has decrease power and causes delay before acceleration finally kicks in.

Truck would turn over but not start , no fuel was making it to spark as fuse for fuel pump had melted into fuel box and damaged it. this is a faulty setup and needs to be address before someones life is taken or injured badly.

Fuel pump malfunctions causing truck to dangerously stall out at highway speeds

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. the contact stated that the vehicle did not start and was not operable. prior to the failure, the vehicle experienced a loss of power. the vehicle was towed to len stoler ford (11275 reisterstown rd, owings mills, md) where it was diagnosed that the fuse that runs through the fuel pump was defective due to the fuel wiring harness overheating. a new wire needed to be relocated to another fuse box. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was approximately 40,372.

On a trip, september 20th going to the smoky mountains, our 2013 ford f-150 pickup truck suddenly lost power. we were on mile marker 295 eastbound on interstate 40, in the left side passing lane going about 55 mph up a hill. the engine stopped with no warning. the dash screen flashed a picture of a wrench and then said "low oil pressure." the oil pressure gauge showed no pressure. i thought the engine had blown. as i tried to navigate to the right side of the road, while on a hill, many semi-trucks slammed on their brakes trying to avoid my truck pulling a 5th wheel trailer. we miraculously avoided a possible major accident. ultimately we learned it was a small $0.50, number 27, 20 amp fuse to the fuel pump that caused the engine to stop. we were stuck on the side of the road for 2 hours until we could get a tow truck for both our truck and 5th wheel. ford is aware of fuse 27 (for fuel pump) frequently melting. they even have a relocation kit to move the fuse when it melts due to overheating because of its location. in our case this nearly caused an accident involving semi trucks.

On first occurance, truck was in motion on highway. vehicle lost power, gages zeroed out and engine light came on. pulled over nad restarted vehicle and it ran fine and engine light cleared. multiple loss of power occurances. does not throw a code when diagnostics are ran. tonight, when merging onto the interstate, while accelerating, truck lost all acceleration, all gauges stopped working and engine light came on. restarted the truck, gages did not start working unitl truck was turned off a second time but the truck was driveable. engine light did not clear.

Fortunately, we had just returned from avoiding hurricane irma after 1100 miles. a battery indicator came on at a stop light. it went away until 3 intersections and turns when i pulled into traffic on 66th st n st. petersburg fl and quickly lost power. a message appeared on panel to put vehicle in park. i was able to coast to a left turn lane and had it towed to closest ford dealer that was open, walker ford. see repair invoice attached. i was fortunate in that it didn't happen in high speed merge attempt between heavy trucks! as the repair seemingly only relocates the fuse and does not address reoccurrence, i believe this was a life threatening safety issue and continues to be a life threatening issue!

Two days in a row my vehicle stalled after violently shaking the steering wheel, i had a complete power loss. i coasted to the side of the road and waited to restart the engine. after about 5 minutes i was able to restart my vehicle. the second time it happened i was one the way to the dealership. the dealership called me back to inform me that my vehicle was driven for 26 miles and could not duplicate. i have been researching online to see if there have been any issues. back in 2013 an investigation was started for this issue. i spoke with the dealership and the service department told me they could not do anything because the cars computers did not throw a code. not only did nothing happen ford did not mention any tsb that would help or fix this issue, after i asked about any tsb that would help or fix. still i got nothing from the dealership.

After parking the truck, i came out and it would not start, had it towed to my repair shop, where i was told it was a burned wiring to the fuse for power to injectors. there is a service bulletin on this. but still it cost me $300.00

Fuse #27 for the fuel pump is burning up on one side. engine stalls intermittently. will not restart for a while after.

Fuel pump fuse melted causing truck to lose power while on freeway. very dangerous.
