I purchased my f-150 ecoboost, on july 28, 2012. almost immediately after purchasing it, i have had issues with the engine. often when it rains, the truck will not start or when it does start, it refuses to go or when it is going, it will not accelerate. when i attempt to pass a slow vehicle, there is no power. the engine boggs down, to an idle. the truck has left me stranded numerous times. i took my family on a trip to miami, florida, during the christmas holiday. on the open road the motor quit. i was able to limp it into a ford dealer, who had to perform extensive engine repairs in able to get the truck running again. while i was driving it back to tennessee, after 3 weeks of repairs, it happened several more times. when i attempt to pass slower vehicles, i try to accelerate and there is no power. it is dangerous, particular when traveling on 2 lane country roads with hills. often, when i park and exit the truck, there is a strong odor of gas coming from somewhere under the hood of the vehicle. this is a fire hazard. on 2 occasions, the driver's seat has come unattached from the floor of the truck. this morning, i went to take my children to school i was driving and heard/felt thumping and the seat fell back, i was nearly laying on my back, while driving. this has happened twice. this is dangerous and scary, when it happens while driving down the road. the ford customer care representative was very flipped and seemed to be more concerned with ensuring that i understood the terms of the warranty than the safety of my vehicle. i was insulted and humiliated, for suggesting they provide me with something to drive while they corrected the problem. the first time this happened, it took 3 weeks to fix. i bought this vehicle, i should not have to buy another vehicle to drive. to date the best fuel mileage i have gotten is 13.2 miles per gallon. *tr
After my ford f150 with the eco-boost engine is out in the rain, when i accelerate on the road the truck sputters and shakes and there is a lose of power. this has happened since i bought the truck new.
Loss of power under acceleration 3.5 ecoboost surging loss of turbo. *jb
Driving turnpike at 1:30am with wet roads but not raining. cruise control was engaged at 75 mph. approaching a bridge and upon starting to climb on the incline i heard a noise that sounded like the transmission had disengaged then the engine light started pulsating on and off so i tried to accelerate and the truck did not react but since i was going 75 it took me over the bridge and then i coasted down the bridge with the cruise control disengaged. i pulled over to the side and placed truck in park the engine was still on. i turned off the truck and waited about 1 minute then i turned the key back on and the truck started up with no engine light or any sign of problems. i drove all the way to miami with no further incidents. i took the truck to ford of homestead and they said they could not pull a code out of the computer that showed anything had happened. i later took the truck again this time making noises when u accelerated it sounded like the transmission was shuddering and again nothing they could do to replicate it. again on or around march 2013 i took the truck to another ford dealer and tried to replicate the shuddering between 3 or 4 th gear to no avail. the truck this past weekend on the same bridge again with wet roads made the shuddering sound and feeling but the engine light did not come on and the truck upon getting to the top of the bridge continued without having to be turned off and on. at first i thought this might be a transmission issue but whenever i guess the truck accelerates to gain speed to go over the bridge or after leaving a stop or red light between 3 or 4 th gears it shudders and when the bridge comes around it goes to a lower gear and starts losing power. when it happens between 3 or 4th gears it is with me accelerating. they told me that the truck has a memory if you drive it hard or softly it remembers this and shifts differently. *tr
Traveled from benton, la to little rock ar. was driving down two lane highway at 55 mph in the rain. had to come to stop as a vehicle was turning left. upon accelerating vehicle began to shake violently and would not accelerate past 15 mph. was able to pull over to shoulder. turned off vehicle and removed key. restarted engine. vehicle would only run approximately 20 mph. drove to next town about 10 miles away. stopped at gas station for approximately an hour. since it was late in the evening we had to continue traveling. truck then would run about 70 mph down the interstate, but any acceleration would cause the truck to hesitate, shake, and loose power. only extremely easy acceleration would work. no down shifting possible. truck was diagnosed at chenal ford in little rock ar. found to have water in the engine from entering the turbo charger air intake. water apparently accumulates in the turbo charger in the rain. if hard acceleration occurs during the rain, water is pulled to the engine damaging the spark plugs and coil packs. this is a known issue with ford as the have several service bulletins out. unfortunately, the dealer in louisiana has not been provided a correction from ford. my understanding is that the turbo intake system has been redesigned for the 2013 model year. ford at this time is not offering to replace the air intake. as such, i this vehicle is not safe in the rain. a car should not stall when accelerating. *tr
While driving on an interstate with two motorcycles in the bed of the trucks, the truck started to shake and vibrate. have since seen this referred to as the shudder that sometimes precedes the limp mode which results in power failure. after changing lanes and monitoring tires on nearby vehicles in motion we confirmed it was not the road. i have since experienced it again but cannot recreate the behavior on demand and it seems to be only on long trips with a load in the truck. *tr
I was traveling at approx. 50 mph behind a slow vehicle and pulled in the oncoming lane to pass when the truck seem to miss fire. it would not accelerate and i had brake hard to pull back in behind the slow vehicle. it did this for about thirty seconds and cleared up. it has only happened once. 2012 f150 ecoboost *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate. the failure recurred mostly when driving in rainy or humid weather. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis and a software update was performed however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was not further repaired. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 10,000. *jb
My wife and i were driving in maine on vacation hauling a 3600 lb 14 foot camper. it was early evening and raining, i was in a flat area coming into a steep hill so i accelerated hard and the engine staggered hard. it was like a hammering for several seconds and a total loss of acceleration. i thought i had actually broken the engine some how. a few seconds later the hammering stopped and the truck returned to normal. when i talked to my ford tech about it he said it was bad gas. the engine since then has had a ticking sound that the tech says is the fuel injectors working, i'm not so sure since it did not make that sound before the above described incident. it has not recurred, but i have been careful not to expose the vehicle to hard acceleration again, but that hardly seems to be an appropriate solution. *tr
On numerous occasions while accelerating to merge into traffic or to pass a slower vehicle or hard accelerating from a standing stop vehicle shakes and stalls, stays in second gear and has no throttle response, in wet or dry conditions, sometimes completely dying. on one occasion vehicle stalled and died while entering expressway causing me to have to run off road, hitting a sign and dirt bank to avoid approaching semi truck. engine oil is diluted with gas, has burning smell in engine compartment. we are afraid of engine explosion and fire, burning smell is so bad. ford has attempted several fixes, but problem continues, now there is a grinding grunt when going into reverse. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f150. the contact stated that the air bags failed and whenever the front passenger seat was occupied, the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact also stated that the eco boost caused the engine to stall. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the seat rail needed to be replaced and that the eco boost was working extremely well. the dealer reprogrammed the computer but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. the failure mileage was 60.
3.5-liter v6 ecoboost engine shudder, shake and then rapidly lose power while i'm accelerating. advertised gas mileage of 22 is impossible; more like 16 highway and 14.4 in city. i had the engine checked at ford dealership but no problems found! *tr
After using cruise control for 1 hour on a 4 lane highway at 70 mph during high humidity early in the morning i try to accelerate and the motor loses all power. i had tsb 12-6-4 applied to the vehicle friday, three days ago, and though it may reduce the likelihood of this situation, it does not overcome what appears to be a design flaw with the intercooler in this ecoboost motor. this flaw allows for condensated water to be sucked into the motor and causing the misfire during hard accelerations after long periods of using cruise control in high humidity situation. the impact of losing power will be a fatal accident for a customer at some point in time if it has not already occurred. *tr
On two occasions i was cruising in high humidity or rainy conditions for close to 2 hours. upon trying to pass the engine lost total power and the check engine light went on. after the first occasion i went to a dealer in canada because i was vacationing there, they performed tsb 12-6-4 and sent me on my way. today on the return trip back to the usa the problem occured again in maine and the check engine light is on again. this problem can cause a sudden loss in power under certain conditions that could lead to a major accident since this event only shows it self at highway speeds when attempting to pass. some have suggested that the problem is associated with the intercooler condensing water while cruising at speed and then ingesting the water upon acceleration causing the misfire and lost of power. *tr
While driving in rain or fog moderate to heavy acceleration causes engine to miss fire and loose power. sets engine maint light po-300 random miss fire. has also degressed to flashing engine maint light which does not allow truck to maintain highway speed. dealer applied tsb 12-6-4 intercooler shroud and flash program ecm. condition still exists and is dangerous. ford needs to make the fix a top priority. *tr
While driving a brand new 2012 ford f-150 w/ 3.5l v6 eco-boost i was attempting to merge onto interstate while towing a small boat trailer when i lost towing power (rpm dropped instantly from ~4000 to ~2000 rpm despite having accelerator depressed) and the entire truck started violently shaking. this continued until i completely let off the gas for a few seconds. i then pressed down on the accelerator and things were back to normal. i could have easily lost control during the rapid deceleration had the roads been wet or if a big ole 18-wheeler had been behind me things could have ended poorly. *tr
I purchased a new f150 ecoboost on 6/13/2012. at 4516 mls i was attempting to merge onto a highway while towing a large trailer in heavy rain. the truck accelerated to approx 50mph then lost pwr suddenly and slowed to 30mph while traffic was approaching from the rear at highway speeds. the engine light started to flash and then stayed on. i was able to safely pull to the side while the truck slowly started to pick up speed again. later the same day while trying to merge into more highway traffic it did the same thing. the dealer replaced several parts and i have not had that problem again. however, i have not towed in the same conditions since then. also, the engine light has turned on three different time due to what the dealer says is a bad turbo intake sensor which they replaced each time. the truck has 18500mls on it and the dealer has been unable to explain why this sensor has failed approx every 4000 mls. all service records are available. *tr
I was merging into traffic on i-10 in florida from an entrance ramp. i was going 55 mph when i had to accelerate in order to merge with traffic. upon attempting to accelerate, the engine lost power and began to shake causing me to have to brake really hard and move to the shoulder of the road so that i wouldn't collide with traffic already moving at 70 mph in the lane i was attempting to merge. this is the first of several incidences in which the vehicle lost power under acceleration. *tr
We experienced bucking, shuttering, lack of acceleration when exiting one major highway and entering another. also check engine light came on. we called the dealer and they said we could still drive truck after we told them what happened. (we were about 200 miles from home)this happened twice. after the first time we took the truck back to the dealer and they installed a cl3z*19e672*a deflector and *w711281*s300 pin. the dealer said the reason for the problem was the computer "learns" the driving habits of the everyday driver (wife). when the husband drove the truck the incidents occurred. dealer said they re-programmed the computer, installed parts. several months later when husband was driving the truck it happened again. we took the truck back to the dealer but they said nothing was wrong. *tr
This is in reference to a loss of power while passing in rainy conditions in my 2012 f-150 crew cab 4x4 3.5 v-6 eco boost. after driving at slow speeds (25-35mph) and fairly constant throttle on a 2 lane highway for approximately 30 miles, i attempted to pass a vehicle starting at 50 mph. as soon as i was on boost i experienced a significant loss of power forcing me to take violent evasive maneuvers including full braking and hitting the shoulder, to barely avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle. as the bed was empty i assumed that i spun the tires on the very wet highway and hit a rev-limiter as it felt like i lost several cylinders. once it returned to 6th gear and about 1500 rpm the engine ran normally. subsequently i have rolled on the throttle slowly when requiring full power in wet conditions. after reading about the other similar issues i realized that i had experienced a problem with the turbocharging system. with this in mind i now regularly go to boost where i don't need the power to remove the condensation from the intercooler when conditions are wet. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. while driving approximately 55 mph, the engine misfired with a temporary loss of engine power. after a few seconds the vehicle resumed normally. in addition, the engine warning indicator would intermittently illuminate. the engine malfunction occurred five times. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on eight separate occasions for the failure. the turbo boost, catalytic converter and c02 sensor were replaced at different times. the manufacturer was notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 1,000.
Firstly, while driving along a 3 mile straight stretch of road i pull out to pass a slower vehicle. my truck engine shut down in to what ford describes as "limp home mode" mid-pass and i had to decelerate quickly and get back in to my lane before a head on collision occurred. there were vehicles in the lane that i had to cutoff to get to safety.i had to pull over to the side of the road and shut off the vehicle then re-start it before the condition cleared up. this same scenario happened again in september of 2012. this time i was driving along with my cruise control set to 62 mph when for no reason the vehicle went in to "limp home mode" again. i had to pull over once again and stop/start the engine. i was in a fair amount of traffic when this occurred and it could have resulted in a dangerous situation had there not been a convenient pullout in the area. i took the vehicle to a ford dealership for service and was told they could not find anything wrong. secondly, the engine make a popping sound while i accelerate from a stop (again the dealership can find nothing) thirdly, the four-wheel drive system randomly cycles some unknown solenoid during use which the dealer cannot reproduce. this is a brand new ecoboost engine, which i love but which i feel is very unsafe and i can get no resolution from ford. *tr
On vacation to ga from md in july of 2012, during a heavy downpour and lost power several times traveling on i-95 towing a boat. driving about 65-70 mph stopped at the ford dealer on rt. 1 in fredericksburg va and they did a temporary fix, a piece of cardboard was installed to prevent the moisture from causing problemsonly to be told to go back to our dealer for the part once it comes in all back ordered. we have since contacted sheehy and got nowhere never got a call either that the part was in. truck gets the worst gas mileage and over the rain we had started to stall out again. never called and never fixed.now with the rain again and the heat it is doing it again..... *tr
I have a 2012 f150 it keep locking up on the road. ford say moisture is getting in the engine. the truck suddenly stop on the road i have almost been hit atleast 10 times. suburban ford dealership is blaming me. i have found 330 pages of complaint about this issue. but yet knowbody is doing nothing about it. i am requesting the government to investigate this issue. this is a safety issue i have been narrowly miss by a semi truck my family could have been killed. if the government does not think this vehicles locking up on the road is of concern i dont know what is. the truck sends codes for #1 #3 #5 cylinders have shut down while driving. then i have had the engine vapor lock up, because the induction is not allowing water in the motor. how many people that have spent their hard earned money on this truck and have had major issues. who is protecting the public we look to government to help. this vehicle has big issues please help. one of your questions are when did this happen, since i bought the truck. ford told me not to drive it when it rains or when the humidity is high. $65000.00 for a truck and i can't drive it when it rains.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the engine experienced a brief loss of power without warning, then resumed normally. the failure recurred five times. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 2,000.
I was about to enter highway from ramp, tried to accelerate engine started missing, loss of power had to pull over to side of road and try again, was almost hit from rear. conditions, rain. *tr
Upon receiving vehicle from dealership in july 2012, ecoboost hesitates, then it takes off and goes faster than you want the vehicle to.this happened many times to pass vehicles or speed up to enter highway from on ramp. after starting and letting sit for more than 10 min., putting in drive or reverse, vehicle runs at high rpm & takes off on its own.upon stopping at light/ stop sign, vehicle will lunge forward.upon trying out ecoboost on vehicle one night, the engine would not disengage from ecoboost, pressed brakes,& wouldn't stop, ended up taking down a partial fence and ending up in a ditch.truck wouldn't get out of ditch, every time you pressed on gas to try to get out, even in 4x4, ecoboost kicks in & spins wheels.truck towed and damage fixed at dealership bought from.they repaired truck per my auto insurance coverage, but when asked to check brakes, ecoboost, they couldn't find any errors per computer and engine is performing correctly. but, engine is not as we have gone back with truck many times to complain about these issues and get the same answers.a computer is only as good as what humans put into it.there is an aftermarket computer chip available at expense of truck owner that will correct the hesitation when going into ecoboost, but nothing to fix the problem of the truck disengaging immediately from ecoboost when brakes are pressed. ford should have put computer chip in engine before selling the vehicle and making sure the ecoboost disengages immediately upon braking. also, exhaust fumes enter the cab when you put heat, defrost, a/c on. the recirculate button has to be on all the time to keep vehicle exhaust out of the cab interior. but, the dealership cannot find an answer for this problem either. ford dealership or ford doesn't seem to be concerned w/ these problem.read on-line that many f150 ecoboost trucks built from 2/2012 to 5/2012 have problems. *tr
I was driving in a light rain when i gently pressed the accelerator and the engine started vibrating excessively making the whole truck vibrate like the wheels were falling off. the incident lasted about 10 seconds before it returned to acting normally. *tr
Brand-new car - 2 days old. trying to merge into traffic on i-81 at night during light rain. engine stalled during acceleration attempt while merging from the on-ramp onto right lane of interstate, forcing 18-wheeler to brake to void crushing me. engine rumbled with very little power getting to the wheels, and recovered to normal driving mode within about one minute. scariest driving event in my decades of driving. internet research indicates that this seems to be a common problem with the 3.5l 6-cylinder ecoboost in humid weather, due to condensation in the intercooler being sucked into the engine, when accelerating sharply (such as merging into traffic, lane changes, etc., i.e., when full engine power is really needed). this will lead to fatalities eventually, if not fixed, but there seems to be no fix available from ford. *tr
When attempting to pass the vehicle loses power under hard acceleration. this has happened several times, usually at highway speed, wet/humid conditions, under hard acceleration. i have taken the truck into the dealership to have them perform the work outlined in a tech bulletin from ford but the problem persists. just yesterday (10/6/13 at about 12:25pm approx 65 degrees f) driving in light rain on i-96 near grand rapids, mi i accelerated hard from about 65mph to pass on the freeway and the vehicle lost power nearly causing an accident. *tr
I have had problems with this truck since i bought it..power loss and running rough...its been in the shop 5 or 6 times now..they replaced 3 coils,,3 spark plugs that were burned up and recently a turbo cooler..i tried to get them to replace all the coils but they said ford would not do it and there was no service anouncement....i have since spent 2500 on a extended warranty..to me this is something ford should be concerned about but doesnt seem to be.. *tr
Purchased truck new april 2012. while driving on the interstate i tried to accelerate past a slower vehicle. the truck would hardly run, lost power and speed. this is a known problem with ford ecoboost engine. unfortunately i did not do my "homework" on this engine package. many complaints of this problem can be found on the internet. ford motor co. knows and admits that there is a problem with condensation build up in the intake tract of this engine. it has been aproblem from introduction. they still have not found a "fix" for this defect. so far this truck has been to the dealer 2 times for this problem and nothing has worked. this truck is dangerous to myself and my family. if it is raining while driving, it will hardly run. it is unsafe to own or operate. *tr
I've had problems since the first month of purchase, first time it stalled pulling out of a stop sign with my kids in the truck, scared us to death. second time, my wife and i were on the interstate going on vacation driving at night in a steady rain, truck begin to shudder and stalled out, had to pull over about 5 times during a 5 hour trip and sit until it would crank and run again. when i returned i took into ford, they couldn't find any problems, truck kept doing the same in a rain so i took back to dealer and after the third or fourth time they said there is a defect and ford has a new part coming out in october of 2012, ended up getting the part installed in december 2012. truck is doing the same thing, just stalled on me in branson, missouri, i called dealer and corporate ford and get nowhere. i have a complaint file number with ford corporate on this problem but no will help me or offer me a new truck without ecoboost. very frustrating to buy a brand new $57k truck and find out it does not run well in the rain and ford new of this problem when they sold it to me in april 2012. now i find out there is a class action suit started in louisiana and ohio for the eco boost trucks. dont really want to go this route but ford and autonation-cook whitehead ford dealer has given me no choice. we need to all publicly let our dealers know by being on the news or other means so ford will stop selling these vehicles. its not right to treat us this way. *tr
Ford f150 crew cab - lariat - v6 ecoboost engine. problem occurs when not towing, not engaged in 4x4 mode and occurs randomly in wet, damp and dry conditions. driving at highway speeds (60) on a 70 mph highway, tried to accelerate to pass semi truck and truck shuddered and would not accelerate at all. speed dropped dramatically and we were almost hit from behind. only method of getting truck moving was to stop on the side of the highway and let the truck sit, turned off for 2 - 3 minutes. it took 5 or 6 of these stops to get to the nearest ford dealership, where a tsb was referred to and it was suggested by the dealership that we continue on our vacation and stop in tallahassee to have a larger dealership take a look. the tallahassee crew updated the computer and provided a report for bill currie ford in tampa, to install a shield of some sort once we returned, as they did not have the part in stock. bill currie service reported that the shield was already in place when reported a few days later. the truck was taken to bill currie ford a total of 5 times for the same problem with the final time to have a ford tech do the work. the problem persists. overall the truck is less than it was advertised. i got 18.7mpg with my previous 6.2l f150 and i have yet to get more than 17.8 on the ecoboost. around town i also get much lower mileage (11.7mpg as opposed to 14.9 with the 6.2l engine. the shudder/loss of power occurs randomly and has resulted in near crashes at least 5 times in the months since we purchased the truck, all at highway speeds. *tr
Pulling away from a side street making right turn merging into fast traffic in an access road with cars merging onto and off of the freeway... pulled out safely and gave it the gas to merge safely in to traffic and truck engine stuttered and nearly shut down, leaving me pulled out of the safety of the street but right into the roadway lacking the power to get off the road or even control the truck. the engine nearly shut down and wouldn't go for a few hundred feet. this has happened several times and eventually i fear that it will cause a horrible accident. i discussed several times with the dealership and they assure me there is no problem with that engine or my specific truck. i don't believe this to be the truth or an acceptable approach to my purchase of a brand new vehicle or my safety. they could not show me a list of anything they actually did to check it out and ford won't help either. *tr
While accelerating on an on-ramp to merge into traffic on i-90, the entire vehicle vibrated very hard, the engine then lost power, causing electric to shut down, and uncontrolled deceleration to occur. the check engine light started to flash. once i released the pressure on the gas pedal, and pulled off the interstate to avoid oncoming traffic, the power returned and the engine responded again. the catalytic converter was determined to be the problem and was replaced. notified ford regional service manager about concerns that this was a safety issue, he responded that the car was under warranty, and nothing else could be done despite acknowledging that we could have been involved in a very serious accident due to the engine failure. about 2 months later, the same problem occurred, and apparently the computer system was not updated as required. after the update, it worked fine. in december 2012, similar symptoms occurred and the dealership determined it was the coil in engine 4 as the problem. *tr
In damp conditions the f-150 with the eco boost engine has a severe vibration and loss of power problem when the turbo chargers are called for. in otherwords when you strongly accelerate to get on the highway the truck dies. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150 eco boost. the contact stated that the vehicle lost power while accelerating. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer twice but the failure could not be diagnosed. the failure mileage was 5 and the current mileage was 16,000. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle began to shake abnormally and exhibiting noises just as the vehicle lost power. the contact attempted to accelerate however, the vehicle would not respond. the failure recurred without warning and most often, after the vehicle had been sitting in the rain or when traveling uphill. the vehicle was taken to dealer who advised that the failure was caused by moisture build-up in the intercooler. the vehicle was repaired by adding a shroud over the radiator and reprogramming the computer. the failure recurred and the check engine light illuminated permanently. the manufacturer was made aware of failure and no further assistance was offered. the approximate failure mileage was 7,000. the current mileage was 23,246.
Experienced with my new 2012 ford f150 ecoboost. while trying to rapidly accelerate to pass another slow vehicle, my vehicle lost power and began to shake violently almost creating an accident. after pulling to side of the road to allow other vehicles to pass vehicle seemed to idle correctly. upon trying to resume travel vehicle missed and shook off and on for the next 5 mile or so. during this time the check engine light was flashing but was not in a safe place to pull over and stop. after traveling approximately 5 miles at around 15 to 20 mph check engine light went away and engine seemed to run correctly. then slowly resumed 55 mph travel with no further incidents. has happened several times since then but not as bad and didn't last as long. *tr
While driving my 2012 ford f150 4x4 with the ecoboost motor to work on the garden state parkway i experienced the following issue: after cruising for about 20 miles at 65mpg i attempted a pass of slower moving traffic. the truck accelerated to about 80mph during the pass then suddenly the engine lost power and created an engine breaking situation. the trucks' speed dropped rapidly from 80 to 60mph and i had to abruptly move into the slow lane cutting off other cars to avoid being rear ended. as soon as the power/speed loss occurred the truck began to shake violently for about a minute or two until i eventually slowed to about 50mph. this has happened 2 times since owning the vehicle. the truck has 5000 miles presently and has been back to the ford dealership 3 times for software updates, a catalytic converter replacement, to add an air deflector and it continues to throw codes and turn on the check engine light. i got it back yesterday and the check engine light went on again on my drive home. also mileage seems to becoming progressively worse. i try to avoid passing situations as much as possible in fear the vehicle will create a dangerous situation for myself and other drivers on the garden state parkway. *tr

Engine shutters, loss of power, engine misfires. dealer has attempted to repair on several occasions. this problem has almost caused several accidents. *tr

My 2012 ford ecoboost with shutter, stall, and shake violently on the highway at dangerous speeds and wet, moist, or humid conditions. it is very unsafe and remains consistent even after fords "tsb" with replacing the cac. engine throws misfire codes as well in cylinder 5. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford f150. the contact stated that while driving 40 mph and onto an entrance ramp, there was a rapid reduction in engine power without warning. the failure recurred seven times. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer three times. a part was installed onto the eco booster. the technician also advised that only non lethal gasoline should be used in the fuel tank. the failure persisted after the repair. the manufacturer was notified of the problem and they offered an extended service warranty. the approximate failure mileage was 2,000.
Needed to accelerate and when throttle was applied the engine shuttered and lost all power until i pulled over to the shoulder and turned off and restarted truck. then ran fine. it has done this three times under same type of conditions. very dangerous. *tr
The truck has a shutter when accelerating. it has a hesitation all the time in the engine. if i am going up a hill and running the speed limit, it has a major hesitation before it will shift gears to get on up the hill. the gas mileage is not as good as it claims to be either. *tr
I own a 2012 f150 platinum truck with an ecoboost engine. we purchased the truck new. i was on the interstate and was trying to pass a slow moving car. the vehicle went into overdrive and began to shake. i pulled over to the side of the road. the check engine light was on. i turned off the vehicle and waited a moment. when i restarted the truck i drove to the nearest dealership. it did this again twice on the way to the dealership. they said that the wiring was at fault and replaced the defective part. then at 34,470 it occurred again. we were on a highway about to pass someone when the truck began to shake and the engine slowed and would not accelerate. the dealership suggested that we use a higher octane fuel and said they could not find anything wrong with it. this problem occurred eight additional times. then at 82,200 miles we were traveling up hill and heard a loud boom. we had it towed to the nearest dealership and found out that a connecting rod had broken causing two holes in the engine. we had to have the entire engine assembly replaced along with two new turbos. ford would not cover because the engine had 82,200 miles and the power train warranty ended at 60,000 miles. *tr
After driving all day in the rain, i went up a freeway on-ramp accelerating to merge with traffic. engine started shaking badly, and lost almost all power. i moved to the right safety lane to get out of traffic. after about one minute the engine regained power, stopped shaking, and i was able to continue normally. i went online and discovered that many f150 ecoboost owners have the same problem but ford refuses to acknowledge the issue, and does not offer a recall or standard fix. so i just avoid hard acceleration on rainy days and have not had the issue again. it is a dangerous problem though. *tr
