We have classified the 495 complaints from 2011 Ford F-150 about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
On the night of dec 20, 2013, i was traveling south on i81 north of syracuse ny. road conditions were not very good. a block of ice fell off a truck ahead of me, evasive action was not possible due to ice and traffic volume. the ice struck the alternator which is cleverly positioned about 10" off the ground on the lower left front of the vehicle. the vehicle began to lose electrical power system by system. i cant recall the exact sequence, as it was all happening pretty fast. eventually, the electric power steering system lost power. when this happens on this vehicle, you lose all steering capability. its not like its just manual steering, there is no steering other than the ability to slightly alter course by pulling extremely hard on the wheel. the vehicle had no lights, the shoulders were unplowed, stopping wasn't a good idea. as good fortune would have it, the cicero ny exit presented itself at that moment. i was able to pull extremely hard on the wheel and was able to steer the slight curve. at the bottom, i discovered i had no breaks. i shot across the usually busy ny 31 and into a kwikstop, where i stomped on the emergency brake and came to a stop. we shortly discovered a fire underneath the engine and were able to extinguish it with snow. i cannot believe a steering system like this is permitted. had i known it had this system and its limitations, id never have bought the car. if my son and i had been killed that night, it would have all been chalked up to road conditions. in furious about this system. it needs to be recalled.....now. *tr
My family and i were on our way to disney world in orlando, florida when my 2011 ford 3.5 liter ecoboost f150 truck completely shut down on the interstate 10 highway in the middle of nowhere, probably 60 miles to the east of tallahassee florida. at first i thought that we were not going to make it, as the truck completely died out. i pulled off to the side and finally got the vehicle started. we had been steady state cruising with the cruise set at 70 for atleast 2-2.5 hours. after doing some reading i see that it was probably condensation in the intercooler that entered the intake tract when i had accelerated to go around a big truck that was barely making it up a hill on interstate 10. this was a real bad experience, this has happened atleast 2 times since then. luckily i have not had a wreck or crashed, but as i keep reading up, i see many people complaining about the ecoboost f150. now, i have a truck in the shop with a blown motor, and i can only imagine that the water getting into the motor and the motor trying to compress that water was what caused my engine failure. i metal from the internal rotating assembly shoot through the side of my engine block last week. i believe that happened due to the water and the water bending the connecting rods. please help. *tr
3.5l ecoboost engine failed to accelerate after a brief rest area stop while raining. attempted to rejoin highway traffic on highway on ramp but engine shuttered and lost all power nearing causing a collision with a semitruck. i had to pull over on to the hard shoulder and restart engine to get vehicle to operate properly. vehicle was received back from ford for the 5th time for this exact same issue 1 week prior. cac was changed again to the newest version, cac shield was installed and newest programming was installed. all tsbs for the 3.5l have been done trying to eliminate issue with no success. live data showed engine load of 99% and 3 psi of turbo pressure at time of failure. *tr
Traveling freeway speed, inside lane, sudden and complete loss of engine power, orange check engine (wrench) appears on display. got to roadside, appeared to go into limp mode. truck moved at own (slow) speed, i had zero throttle control. exited freeway, shut down and restarted, issue gone. road conditions were wet, sleet, de-icer on roadway. with traffic all around, on slick roads, this was some scary stuff right there! *tr
Returning home from a weekend camping trip with my family and pulling a travel trailer via i-81 in va, i depressed the accelerator approaching a long hill, and abruptly lost all engine and drive power, the engine shuddered violently, the transmission downshifted to lower gear and the check engine light flashed a few times. we had absolutely no power and i thought the engine was going to shut off. i was in the 2nd lane from the right and had to quickly move to the right lane then to the shoulder to avoid being hit from behind. this was very dangerous while pulling a 34' travel trailer. i had to pull the vehicle to the shoulder and stop completely to regain control. i had to put the truck in park and turn it off before it returned to somewhat normal drivability. while continuing to climb the uphill grade, the engine misfired and hesitated constantly. i could only apply gently pressure to the accelerator to keep the vehicle moving. once over the hill the vehicle picked up speed and returned to normal drivability for the remainder of the trip. the same exact problem occurred again a few months later while driving south on rt-4 in md with my wife, and not pulling a trailer. this time i didn't shut the engine off, but had to pull to the shoulder to regain control and engine power. as i continued on rt4 the engine misfired and hesitated several more miles. once at my destination i turned the vehicle off, then upon departure the vehicle operated more normal, but experienced misfire and hesitations several mile returning home. the next day the vehicle operated normally, but i took it to the ford dealership to have it repaired. this is a very unsafe situation and makes me very leary driving this vehicle on a normal basis. if i was accelerating while crossing the highway and this problem happened, there is a great chance of getting into an accident or causing one. *tr
The vehicle experienced a rough idle then upon acceleration, severe shuddering and lack of power. check engine light turned on and began flashing. vehicle is equipped with a 3.5l gtdi engine. vehicle then continued to experience complete lack of power and shudder while being driven to the dealership. *tr
Crossing table rock dam on dry, flat, level pavement after letting off gas in anticipation of stopping at upcoming light rear tires locked and went into skid squealing brand new michelin tires with less than 500 miles on them. nobody was directly behind me or would have caused wreck due to sudden deceleration with no brake lights since no brake applied. tires squall like old vehicles with no abs when brakes locked up. an employee was riding with me at the time and it scared both of us. had we not been out of town and dependent on truck getting us home we would have not driven it again. after returning home truck did it a second time a couple of weeks later driving in town down stadium blvd at about 35 mph. rear tires lock, skid and squall. in addition earlier intermittent hard downshifts that feel like someone hits you from behind but not a full lock condition as these two recent incidents. also intermittent stalling when pulling away from stop light, stop sign, out of parking lot, or out of driveway - especially after idling. stalls, hesitates, bucks, vibrates, giving it gas does not result in vehicle responding. usually on "easy" acceleration meaning when just easing off from stop. intermittent transmission sticking in 1st gear and won't shift out. finally vehicle sometimes "surges" after putting in gear on cold start or when letting off gas and coasting - it actually picks up speed and lunges forward for just a second. there is something wrong with all the sensors and the computer is causing the engine / transmission / abs brakes to behave in strange and unpredictable ways. my father, wife, and employee have all witnessed one or more of these issues while riding with me but intermittent so unable to replicate. ford case opened but no resolution. tell me drive it until it breaks so they can find problem but unsafe to do so. *tr
While accelerating to 75mph or so, up slight hill from 65-70 mph went to pass a vehicle then truck lost vast majority of power even with all the way down and began to violently shake. could have easily cause accident since wasn't abble to accelerate as planned to match speed of other lane. check engine light came on. truck continued to shake violently off and on for next mile before stopping. problem is still ongoing under any moderate acceleration that goes over ~2000 rpm
When merging into i-75 traffic i pushed the gas to accelerate and the truck sputtered and missed, lost 90 percent of its power and went into limp mode. i was lucky i didn't get ran over. this truck has the 3.5 liter ecoboost engine. unfortunately, this has happened before with no success getting it fixed. it is at the dealer now and i am having to pay to repair this well known defect. *tr
Loss of significant power under slight to moderate acceleration, engine shutters violently, shakes and miss-fires. check engine light flashes. engine seems to run on 50% power loss, letting off accelerator for awhile then engine seems to recover temporarily until additional power is needed. unable to have any confidence to pass any vehicles on grades. quite possible for complete power loss under full acceleration as the engine misses so bad that it actually slows down and looses rpm's. i have owned this truck since new. symptoms started in dry climate, no rain and have continued to get worse as i have entered into rainy areas with humidity. *tr
Attempted to pass a car. speed at time of attempt was 55mph. time 2:20 p.m. and partly cloudy. two lane road but had plenty of time to pass or an accident could have occurred. pushed down on accelerator and the engine actually decreased speed/significant deceleration. i let up on gas pedal, maintained speed then was gradually able to pass. think the turbo had stalled. this had happened once before, shortly after i purchased the truck. at that time i was merging onto interstate and it stalled out, for a shorter duration. after the july 31 incident, i took the truck to ford to inquire about the issues some owners have had on the eco boast engine, which i have. no codes appeared so i was told they couldn't do anything. then talked to regional customer service and got the same story. i am very concerned as i use the truck to tow a 26' trailer. when the eco boast turbo works, i have plenty of power to merge or pass. the above experience was scary and i did not have the trailer behind me at the time. now i feel i can not reasonably depend on it to work as it should. i think it is the turbo but it could be the electronic gas pedal, or the transmission but i really do not think these are the issue. please help! thank you.
Second occurrence of the engine losing power while towing a camper over 100+ miles at highway speeds then adding power to climb a hill. driving 65 mph on the highway, over a 1.5-2 hrs drive, approaching a hill while towing a camper, accelerated to climb the hill and the vehicle again, dropped from 65 to 40 mph in about 30 seconds. engine stuttered and would not respond to throttle control to gain speed to climb the hill. took vehicle into dealership no problem found, about a week later, there was an inefficient catalytic requiring the replacement of the left catalytic converter. this occurred post having the ecoboost fix that ford motor company stated would resolve the problem and it is still occurring. odbc 2 data logger captured the incident recording engine speed, engine rpm, and engine load (%). *tr
On several occasions and more frequently as of lately, i am losing acceleration capability when i am trying to accelerate at any speed. when i try to accelerate from a stop or uphill, i feel like the engine won't go or is bogging down. to try and compensate, i try to accelerate more which only seems to make the problem worse. i have already taken it to the ford dealer and they replaced a part on the transmission, but the problem still persists and is only get more frequent. *jb
Ecoboost engine. loud clattering on cold start. runs very rough, exhibits propensity to stall when idling, and very sluggish acceleration coupled with transmission issues. example 1: coasting on the freeway with traffic around 40mph, shifted lanes, then made attempt to accelerate and pass another vehicle, but the vehicle did not downshift. accelerator will be down to the floor, and truck will remain stuck in a low gear (like 6th) and go nowhere...zero acceleration...after a few more tries, and a few seconds later, the transmission will slam into 2nd gear, shaking the entire truck. at this point, the turbos kick in and the truck takes off like a rocket. creates 2 dangerous situations, a potential rear-end accident by the lane change without acceleration, and then the sudden, rapid, unpredictable acceleration of being randomly thrown into 2nd gear. seen various other incidents like this in other scenarios and various gears. accelerating out of a traffic circle, or out of a turn, is an easy way to see the problem. truck has basically lost its ability to accelerate/downshift on demand. example 2: stopped at a stop sign. when i then proceed into intersection...acceleration is very slow, then all of a sudden turbos kick in resulting in rapid unpredictable acceleration. often times, the wheels will spin, and if the road is dry, the truck will bounce up and down all over the road! accelerator will in the same position the entire time. i have rapidly accelerated towards cars that i didn't want to get that close to. i now have to stay even further away from cars to maintain a safe distance due to unpredictable acceleration. frustrating, because the problem is frequent now, but inconsistent. i have 2 kids in booster seats, and now i have to be especially careful when i drive with them in this truck because i feel it's unsafe. *tr
Just purchased used ford f150 supercrew with ecoboost engine with 26,000+ miles a week ago. i first noticed a shudder in the rear end when backing out of my driveway a couple days ago. felt like driving over a washboard. did not pay a lot of attention to it as i had not noticed it before. went on 575 mile trip over the weekend and this shuddering persisted while pulling up to stops and starting out, both turning and going straight. only occurs 65% of the time but the shuddering is very intense at low speed but appears to get better at cruising speeds. you can hear and feel the shuddering. *tr
After cruising at 50 mph for about 10 minutes, temperature of 87 degrees with high humidity, i attempted to pass the vehicle ahead of me. the truck accelerated nicely, then stumbled, stopped accelerating and started to shake violently. the check engine light began flashing, indicating a misfire. problem corrected itself after 30 seconds and truck resumed normal operation. *tr
While merging into traffic on the expressway today in miami, at about 35 mph, i had to accelerate to get out of the merging lane, at which time (for the third time since i bought the truck in 2011) the truck lost all power to the engine (a 3.5l ecoboost) and began to sputter, shake, and decelerate. luckily for myself and the other drivers on the road i did leave a sufficient gap between myself and the car to my rear to give that vehicle time to react to what equates to a vehicle pulling out in front of him/her and gently pressing the brakes without the brake lights engaging. my truck hovered between 25 and 30 mph for about 30 seconds with it doing the sputtering and slowing thing each time i attempted to accelerate during that time period. after pretty much coasting for 30 or so seconds, the truck sprang back to life and drove as advertised. from what i've read, this is not an isolated incident and i (as well as others) believe ford should be held accountable for this defect. i'm not looking for a new truck, i'd just like the problem fixed. even though no deaths or injuries have been reported due to this "yet", you can see the danger of having your engine loose power when you need it the most. unfortunately for their customers, all ford seems to be concerned with is the loss of a buck......not the loss of a life!!! Traveling on 4 lane highway during period of train, accelerated to pass vehicles, my truck eco-boost motor acceleration stagnated and vehicle began to shutter, was unable to pass, decelerated and stagnation stopped. incident occurred when ever i tried to accelerated during active rain during a 9 hour interstate trip. *tr
The truck loses acceleration when shifting to a passing gear. the check engine light comes on, and you have no power. this has happened four times. the ford dealership has changed out the fuel injectors each time. it is currently in the shop and they have not been able to fix it yet. *tr
The first time this happened, my husband was pulling out into a center turn lane in order to merge with traffic and the motor cut out and bogged down. just four days later, i had the same experience where the motor completely cut out while i was going through a yield sign, slowing down, and then getting on the accelerator to increase speed. i counted between 3-5 seconds before the truck started accelerating again. this is very dangerous and had someone been right behind me it could've been a bad wreck. it happened to me this first time right after i picked my truck up from the dealership and them telling me my vin didn't qualify for the tsb with replacing the cac (intercooler) and adding the air deflector plate. i have since gone to a second dealership and they are performing the tsb for me after having my truck for 5 days now, and being able to reproduce the problem easily. i hope this fixes it. i've already had a check engine light come on and my driver's side catalytic converter was replaced. i've had numerous leaks all under the 36,000 mile warranty - front main seal, transmission leak, rear diff leak, and even some deteriorating rubber gaskets in the doors, and am seriously questioning ford's quality these days. *tr
There is a problem with the engine misfiring at moderate to hard acceleration. this really bothers me. as i have talked with ford mechanics i have been told that ford has no fix for this problem. from what i have read and studied, this is a problem with condensation in the intercooler making its way to he injectors. once you put your foot on the gas pedal to accelerate you experience a sometimes violent stutter and the vehicle not accelerating but instead sounding like it's going to explode. i have also heard this happens when its humid outside. regardless, one day i'm going to need to accelerate away or from something and the truck is going to fail, causing me to get hit or killed. i have found fixes to the problems including a full race intercooler, plugs and wires, however i don't think i should have to spend over $1000 for something ford released knowing it wasn't ready, or up to par. i've owned my vehicle for over a year now and its 0% better even using top octane fuel. please help... *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f150. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph and attempting to change lanes, the vehicle lost acceleration power. the failure was experienced several times. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure and current mileage was 48,000.
Loss of power while traveling 800 miles from home. problem has continued and worsened. the turbos now do not spool up and the truck runs on 6 cylinder power alone. currently parked in my driveway. will not let my family drive it due to safety concerns. *js
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate beyond 30 mph. the failure occurred on several occasions. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing; however, they were unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 48,000.
An example of what happens is this: traveling along at 45mph, and pull out to overtake a slower vehicle, you accelerate aggressively. upon doing this, the truck seems to stumble like it's hunting for the appropriate gear (@ about 45- 50mph). also, it feels like an engine mis-fire. it's a disconcerting feeling that the truck does not accelerate as it should when you need it the most. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated when the vehicle was turned on the engine idled excessively and the began to smoke. the failure was experienced numerous times. the vehicle also stalled while driving approximately 20 mph. the contact was a able to drive onto the emergency lane and restart the vehicle; however, when the accelerator pedal was depressed the transmission disengaged and the rpms increased. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing but they were unable to locate the failure. the dealer replaced the turbo charger line; yet, the failure was not corrected. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 20,000. the current mileage was 23,800.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate. the contact continuously depressed the accelerator and the vehicle began to vibrate abnormally. the check engine light was also illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer several times. the technician diagnosed that the air cooler needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
issue started again on 10 aug. 2013. when under mild to heavy acceleration (such as merging onto interstates) the engine develops a significant miss and shudder. vehicle was repaired once on 20 mar. 2013 under tsb # 13-3-3. *tr weather does not appear to be a factor. the "miss" was so severe with a k&n air charger high-flow intake kit installed that i had to reinstall the stock system. this was a none issue eventually because the ford dealership would not place the vehicle on diagnostics until i had reinstalled the stock kit.
Generally speaking with a new vehicle i "baby" a new vehicle until i get over 75,000 mi. first incident - noticed around 40,000 mi. when accelerating to pass at highway speeds the vehicle shudders and doesn't have power. thought it was bad gas, turbo lag, or intermittent transmission issue. problem occurred a few times over the years, every time was during acceleration to pass or merge on to expressway conditions. keep in mind since i was in the babying mileage range i rarely performed such acceleration. but after a couple of occurrences, i discussed this with a friend that also owns an ecoboost and he thought the same reasons. i have 7 year 100,000 extended warranty so i thought i would wait until the problem occurred frequently enough to easily trouble shoot. of course frequency wouldn't be enough until after i get out of the "baby" stage on mileage. currently the vehicle has over 75,000 miles. i no longer baby it. problem occurs every time i accelerate to pass at highway speeds. also, i have had the problem when accelerating to enter highway traffic from ramp. the ramp occurrence appears to be when i'm at a speed and then accelerate. not sure if the problem happens when accelerating from a stop or slow speed. i'm concerned this may lead to an accident and potential a life threatening or changing event. what is one life worth? i guess that depends on if its yours. i believe this is a life threatening event and know that drivers like myself once aware pay attention and proceed with caution and this is the reason there hasn't been life lost, or no one has proven this was the root cause to accidents that have occurred. i fear for those who are not aware of this issue and that they may discover it at the wrong time. please do something to help. *tr
My ford f150 eco boost lost power suddenly while trying to enter a rural route at a stop sign.while trying to accelerate it just died for several seconds and then took off since i was pushing on the accelerator wondering what had just happened .the vehicle has been shuddering a lot on acceleration now with a substantial loss of fuel economy . i have personally had it at two ford dealership which say they can find no problem with it , but shop foreman told me and my wife we where stuck with it and to fix it by pulling the battery cable off every once in awhile. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle would no longer accelerate. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 39,000. *tr
When attempting to pass a slower moving vehicle, i moved into the left pass lane and pushed on the gas, the truck began to shudder violently, lose power, and the check engine light came on. i took it to the dealership where i bought it and they did the intercooler fix. after that the problem continued. check engine light came on, took back to dealership, they told me it was a spark plug, replaced it, on the drive home same problem, engine shudders violently, loses power, goes into limp mode, and check engine light either flashes or goes solid. i have had this problem since the day i purchased the truck new from the dealer. *tr
Well i have an issue with my trucks i have purchased from ford. well in august of 2011 i purchased the new f150 with ecoboost. the truck drove like a dream for a while then i started having issue, with the transmission, then engine losing power. this happen about 4 time during the life of the truck.the last time was in january 2013, it was the last straw for me. the reprogrammed the trans/computer and put a wind deflector in the front of the intercool. still lost power on a road trip on the way back home from s carolina. mind you the truck was in the shop for tran/engine/the right fender had to be adjusted it was misaligned, the bed of the truck same thing. this lost of power almost caused me to have a accident because i was merging onto the highway. i also had to sunroof replaced as it was vibrating the whole truck when moving. the driver seat track was replaced and the sliding glass window in the back was replaced too. the defrost stopped then the window stopped sliding. i stopped driving the truck so i could get rid of it i have a 2013 limited and have some of the same issue. now that i have a new 2013 vehicle i experience some of the same issue. *tr
My vehicle fits the exact description of a previous ford recall for 2011 f-150 with an output speed sensor on the vehicle's transmission lead frame that needs replacement. previously and before the issued recall, my vehicle abruptly downshifted, shut off, and would not restart. i had the vehicle towed to the ford dealership where it was inspected and nothing was found wrong. they claimed that the computer just needed to be reset and were more than happy to charge for the incurred labor time. more recently, my f150 has failed to start on several occasions. after several repair attempts and a starter replacement, the ford dealership now tells me it is the sensor on the vehicles lead frame and that the entire thing needs to be replaced. i searched for the issue and found the recall that matches my issues as well as my truck's make, model, year, transmission type, and manufacture location. however, my manufacture date fell a few months outside of the recall manufacture dates. calls to ford left me with 2 options: pay roughly $1000 repair bill and wait for them to file the issue and get back to me or leave with an unsafe vehicle while the issue is resolved (hopefully).
Vehicle shifts hard when not under power. when under power vehicle backfires, mis fires, loses acceleration completely. have brought vehicle to deal 4 times and have been told there is nothing they can do. there is black sut on the exhaust. i do not feel safe driving in the vehicle if it cannot accelerate or will just completely shut off. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that whenever shifting from first to second or from third to fourth gear, the transmission shook violently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician was unable to determine a remedy the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 15,406 and the current mileage was 21,500. *tr
While driving, rear wheels lock up for a few seconds, then truck shakes and has no acceleration power. this is happening at least once weekly now with loss of power lasting from 10 to 45 seconds. not safe when in traffic. local dealer says they can't find anything wrong and that they have no tsb on it. *tr
Event occurred 3 times over a period from 27 oct 13 to 21 nov 13, decelerating while towing a trailer. speed varied all three times from a high of about 60mph, to a low of 45mph. message center would turn orange and display a wrench symbol, while the engine discontinues producing power. after pulling over, simply turning the vehicle off, then restarting, everything appears normal again. two ford dealers "found no codes", and were unable to further diagnose the issue. the second dealer attempted to collect data via an onboard computer as well, but the event wouldn't repeat while the device was installed, nor was i towing during that time. one of these events occurred on a two lane road with no shoulder available. traffic had to stop until i restarted. dangerous at best. the third even occurred going up a one lane freeway flyover. i was able to coast past the bridge structures and onto the shoulder, however, this occurred during rain, and multiple other vehicles had to make accident avoiding maneuvers, including tractor trailer rigs. very dangerous. i have replaced the vehicle. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that while driving approximately 4 mph, the vehicle shifted from first to second gear, which caused the vehicle to jerk. the failure recurred on multiple occasions. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing and the boot was replaced on the transmission but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 10,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. the contact stated that it was extremely difficult to shift the vehicle from first to second gear. in addition, the vehicle would shake violently when changing gears and approaching a stop. the dealer updated the pcm twice, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 23,000. updated 9/4/14*cn the consumer stated the vehicle had a hard shifting and acceleration issue. the vehicle would hard shift everytime it was driven. it felt as if the vehicle was rearended. the vehicle revs up and stays in acceleration for an extended period of time. the entire truck shakes when going 40-45 miles per hour. updated 1/5/15 *js
Traveling at speeds above 50 when hard acceleration vehicle goes into limp mode becomes very dangerous have almost caused major pile up due to loss of power and total loss of vehicle control this vehicle and others like it are going to start killing people. all over the internet people are complaining about same problem and so far ford has not recalled these vehicles and that is very concerning. please help before many people are killed. *tr
Vehicle began shuddering heavy between 40mph and 50mph. requiring me to depress the gas pedal heavy to avoid the shuddering, its almost impossible to drive my vehicle at 45 mph (which is the speed limit in most of the area i drive in). this occurrence is when 5th gear changing to 6th gear, which is typical between 45 mph. not sure what damage this is doing to my vehicle, let alone the safety risk this may be causing. i have had the vehicle in the dealership at lease 6 times for this issue and with no results of the issue being resolved. just the run around and false promises. 2011 f150 5.0 motor and 3.55 gear ratio. *tr
My truck is equipped with the ecoboost 3.5l engine. twice now i have attempted to accelerate and had the truck lose power and shake violently, creating a very dangerous situation. the first time was attempting to pass another vehicle. weather conditions were warm (75 degrees f) with light rain. i pulled out to pass and attempted to accelerate when the truck suddenly acted as if the gas was shut off. it then began to shake and shudder violently as if the rear axel was being ripped from beneath it. i was able to fall back behind the vehicle i was attempting to pass, out of the way of oncoming traffic, and pull to the side of the road. after shutting off and restarting the truck, it seemed to run normal. the dealership service tech inspected the truck and stated it is a problem ford is aware of (in wet conditions), but has no fixes. the second time i was attempting to enter the interstate from a rest stop into a single lane construction zone. the weather was cool (45 degrees f), dry and sunny. i attempted to accelerate to enter the highway and the truck acted as it did on the first instance. i was forced to pull off of the lane between two large construction pylons in order to avoid being struck by a tractor/trailer. the supplied dates, mileage and speed were from the most recent incident. *tr
Surging at low speeds when coming to a stop. feels as though the transmission is not downshifting and requires hard braking to prevent vehicle from moving into an intersection, or a car stopped ahead going in the same direction. this has occurred twice. the second time i almost hit the car stopped in front of me. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle would jerk violently and lunge forward. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 52,000. updated 2/26/14*cn the consumer stated the vehicle has a serious wobble.
When putting truck in reverse after going forward or put in forward after backing up, clunk or chirp noise from under vehicle. could be driveshaft or rear. waiting for warranty servce. *tr
Began to notice rough shifting a lower speeds (30 - 45) at about 12,000 miles. over time it became more pronounced and feels like the engine is lugging at this speed. the transmission causes a shudder when shifting up or down as if the transmission is having a problem getting into gear. left the truck at the dealer for 3 days and they told me they could not replicate the problem. i think the streets they were driving were so rough that they couldn't feel the shudder. i was told that it may be a problem the computer is having synchronizing the fuel system and the engine rpm's. don't know about that but the problem still exists at 20,000 miles now. *tr
I made a left turn from a traffic light stop, as i was accelerating on a moderate rate, the engine "took off" (unintended acceleration) and immediately accelerated to ~50+mph. i switched transmission into neutral and applied the brakes and slowed down to the speed limit, ~35 mph. i checked to make sure the accelerator pedal was not stuck on the floor mat (it wasn't). i reengaged the transmission and the acceleration started immediately again. this unintended acceleration occurred three times in a stretch of about 2 miles or so, until i had a clear, safe place to pull over. the check engine light did not come on, at least not that i could notice. after i stopped the truck and started up again things were fine. i tried to "recreate" the situation by suddenly accelerating, but to no avail. i have scheduled an appointment with the dealer. the vehicle is a 2011 ford f-150 pickup with 3.5l ecoboost engine. *tr
I was traveling in the righthand lane of the east bound side of i24 around manchester, tn. my speed was approximately 65-70 mph. i suddenly came up upon slower traffic in the same lane and signaled to pass the slower traffic. as i looked in my mirrors for traffic behind me i noticed another vehicle closing on me in a hurry. i depressed the accelerator to gain speed and make the pass. the vehicle lurched and the motor suddenly shut down and wouldn't accelerate in the middle of my pass. the vehicle behind me locked their brakes and managed to slow their vehicle down before possibly colliding with me. i let the slower traffic on the right pass and signaled to get back in the right hand lane. this has happened twice to me and i think there is a real possibility this could endanger lives and property if not corrected. my 2011 ford f-150 is equipped with the 3.5 liter ecoboost v6. *tr
This has happened numerous times. while driving down the road at high speeds the vehicle automatically shifts into first gear causing a rapid slow down and difficulty controlling the vehicle. i took the vehicle to the dealer numerous times for this action telling me there was nothing wrong with the power train. to date there have been many esb's on the vehicle and i was not notified of the many issues occurring with this model even though i took it to a qualified ford dealer. now that the warranty has expired i am now being told all of these issues need to be fixed even though the problems were know prior to the warranty expiring. this is fraud on the part of the dealer and of ford corporate. *tr
