Plastic moldings on the right and left of the windshield fly off at highway speeds and the weatherstripping splits and bangs against the windshield
Obeying speed limit driving down the highway on n127 towards jackson michigan, going past an on ramp and my passengers windshields outer pillar cover flew off out of no where, no reason, very unexpected. almost hit a car that was coming onto the highway on a on ramp. i have found 5 other reports of exactly same thing. my vehicle only has 37k miles on it, have only drove it barely 3 months. this should not have happened or be happening to vehicles. other complaints i found vehicles were at 40k miles or 41k miles. timing of all 6 incidents is not a coincidence. all 2016 ford explorers all within last 6 months.
Both driver and passenger door lock/latch mechanisms failed showing car door is ajar when door is actually shut. driver door lock actuator failed around 30,000 miles and passenger lock actuator failed around 135000 miles. when driving at night, the interior lights of car cannot be turned off until speed reaches approximately 10 mph. this leads to unsafe driving conditions and limits driver visibility outside of car due to glare.
While my vehicle was parked on my flat driveway my daughter backed her ford edge into the rear of the explorer at a low rate of speed. the explorer which was not running and was turned off and in park at the time rolled off the driveway. rolled through an open lot behind our house. the vehicle continued to roll through the open lot and crossed the neighborhood street behind our house. the vehicle then rolled through another vacant lot, and rolled down an embankment through another lot. the vehicle stopped only after striking a tree and coming to rest. in all the vehicle traveled approx 300 yards and had it not struck the tree it would have crossed a busy two lane road. i got to the vehicle it was locked and in park. there was a good amount of front end damage and there was no airbag deployment. i was able to drive the vehicle back to our house but it could not be driven any further.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford explorer. the contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph the driver side exterior (a) column window trim fractured and was ejected from the vehicle. the local dealer champagne ford city (701 west market view champagne il.) was notified of the failure. the contact installed a replacement part to remedy the failure. the failure occurred on the driver side (b) column trim. the repair was still pending. the failure was also present on the rear hatch trim. the manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. the mileage was 85,000.
Both. vehicles were moving. the explorer front hit the right rear panel of a 2011 ford ranger. both vehicles were going approximately 30 mph. no injuries sustained by either driver. my ford explorer air bags did not deploy. i was on a city street the other vehicle was just beginning to turn.
Driver side exterior door handle came off when door was opened while stationary.
Was driving on the highway about 60 mph, heard weird sound around on my driver side, pulled over and the trim around my windshield was hanging. i thought it was snapped back in, and when i got to work it was completely gone. i will take pics and add them to this later on.
The driver and passenger side door arm rests are coming apart at the seams as is the center console. the interior of my 2015 explorer with 45k miles looks terrible. looks like it's 20 years old. i am shocked.
We have just become aware that exhaust gasses are leaking into the passenger compartment and apparently have been for some time, causing headaches, dizziness and eye irritation. we located a tsb from ford (tsb 16-0166) relating to the issue and became aware that ford had offered to fix the issue. both the center for auto safety and the nhtsa investigated this issue resulting in ford notifying owners of potentially affected vehicles offering to fix the issue for free. i never received a letter, and when i called the ford customer service line i was told that my vehicle's vin was not affected. with the leakage of the exhaust into the cabin i've earned the right to call bs. this is not the type of defect that will repair itself and presents a clear and present risk of serious injury or death, as evidenced by the multiple reports of crashes. this should never have been allowed to be swept under the rug and warrants a recall and inspection/repair of every vehicle in the category. date below is the date that we took it in to the ford dealership for diagnosis and repair, but the effects have been noticed for several ...
