Compressor failed and sent metal shavings throughout entire system. this requires replacement of compressor, receiver dryer, and expansion modules. these parts are on a national back order from form, which indicates this is a massive problem with the vehicle. *tr
On may first of 2014 my check engine light and oil light came on. i assumed i needed oil, so i went to the advanced auto store and purchased some oil. i put the oil in and began to proceed home. i was driving and the oil light was showing as hot. the car would not give enough power for me to drive, it began to shake. the car is not drivable anymore. it is still doing the same thing. after some research i discovered that this car's make and model is a recall car. i need to know what to do. *tr
I was driving my 2005 ford expedition eddie bauer edition when i started to make a turn. suddenly the vehicle stopped moving and an indicator light stating "engine fail safe mode" came on. during the turn, a vehicle was coming toward me and i barely had enough time to get my vehicle out of the lane before i got hit. i had to stop my vehicle, put it in park (while sitting on the roadway), shut it off, and restart it before i could move again. it ran fine for a couple of days and then it happened to me again while driving. this is a very dangerous situation that should be looked into and after checking the internet it seems there are lots of people with the same experiences. i took my vehicle to the shop and they told me it was the throttle body. after spending $409.00 (because of course it was not covered by my warranty) to repair it hopefully the problem may be fixed. i figured spending the money was better than the option of possibly getting in a serious accident and being killed if the problem was not fixed. somebody needs to look into this ...
I was stopped at a red light, and all of a sudden i heard this loud crash and bang, and was jerked forward. thought the pick up truck behind me rear-ended me. that driver pulled up aside of me and told me you just dropped your driveshaft. since it was dark and my vehicle was in the middle of the road at an intersection i called the police. when they arrived they told me we can't wait for your tow truck driver to get here, it's to dangerous, so they called another towing company. well after a long hassle and the 1st tow of $150.00, i got my vehicle towed to my house. after making several phone calls i finally got it towed to the repair shop on 7/8/13 and had to pay another tow of $75.00. finally got the call on 7/10/13 what had happened to my rotted out expedition, all 4 control arms where rusted out, 2 of them actually bent and broke, damaging my driveshaft. costing me another $559.14 for the repair. that's only fixing the 2 lower control arms. they have to find the 2 upper and replace them. which will be at least another $350.00 ...
I believe that ford expeditions from years 2003 - 2006 have a serious defect. i am experiencing radiator support mount rot. my mechanic says this should not be occurring on a vehicle that is only 6 years old. i have done some research and have read on the ford expedition forum that many expedition drivers are now finding this to be the case with their vehicles as well. i seriously believe a recall should be in place to address this problem. the a/c condenser is now falling through and the body mounts are being compromised. *tr
I was on interstate 95 southbound when i heard a loud boom followed by a flapping sound i pulled onto the shoulder to see what happend when i noticed gas coming from the area where the spark plug was at i shut the car off and called for a tow. *tr
While driving on the interstate or fwy at about 55-60 mph - i start to increase in speed, while going with the flow of traffic my expedition eddie bauer model spurts/hesitates/loses power "but never cuts off" every time before the speed increases. we took it to the ford dealer several times an they are unable to determine what is wrong with the vehicle. the ford dealer told us they can't do not about it until the engine light comes on. we suggested to the ford dealer that it maybe the fuel filter or o2 sensor but they told us this model vehicle does not have a fuel filter and our o2 sensors are good. my issue is why should i have to wait till the vehicle breaks down when it does this all the time. *tr
I drove the about 3 miles, and parked the truck, then the vehicle caught on fire in front of the wal-mart. it had been parked for about 1 hour before we got notified that the truck was engulfed in flames and a explosion came from the engine compartment area. 911 was called and the fired dept came and put the fire out. the fire department was unable to determine the cause of the fire, but stated we need to contact the maufactor, and they gave me a case number as well (prince william county - [xxx]" information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Driving in city traffic, at approximately 35 mph. the electronic throttle control light came on and engine died. we were able to coast to gas station. the vehicle started right up and everythings worked fine. the next day took vehicle to ford dealership. after troubleshooting, they were not really sure of what was the problem. but they suggested changing the throttle body. we decided to take vehicle home. vehicle worked fine until yesterday, the problem occurred again. this is an unsafe condition. there is a large about of e-mail traffic about this same problem, and ford has not issued a recall. *tr
