Recently reported STRUCTURE problems on 2013 Ford Edge

I have a problem with 2013 ford edge receive a message advising the left rear passenger door is ajar even when the door is securely shut. checked on internet found numerous complaints citing this same problem with the ford edge involving all different doors. received a letter from ford motor company entitled customer satisfaction program 19n09 wherein they advise of a problem with the door latch on the 2013 ford edge specifying the same problem i am having and advising they will replace the door latch on the drivers side door. it is my position they used the same type setup on all doors on the 2013 ford edge, they are aware of the defect and want to limit their exposure by limiting the program to the drivers door. there is a safety issue or concern prompting this program or ford would not have initiated the program and it would apply to all doors on the vehicle as evidenced by my problem with the rear door. i did contact the ford customer relationship center and was advised the program was limited to the conditions listed in the letter. this door ajar warning has come up when the vehicle is in motion and when stationary.

Sunroof spontaneously shattered. we were going 70 miles/ hour on the freeway when it exploded out of nowhere. both driver and passenger threw our arms over our head because it sounded like our car had been shot at. the car swerved into other lanes of traffic. most of the glass stayed but we had large chunks fall into the car cabin. there was also lots of fine pieces of glass falling into the car. we had a 1 year old in her carseat that had glass falling on her head. we didn't dare drive anymore, trying to avoid the glass caving in, and pulled off at the next exit.

My car tells me my door is at ajar but it's not

The drivers door intermittently doesn't recognize when its closed. the drivers door ajar light will come on and the other doors will not lock. the dome lights stay on for a short distance.

Takata recall the warning light that l passenger door is ajar stays on -- even when door is closed. this apparently drained the battery; had to jump the car to get it started. the dome light stays on. this has especially been a problem for the past several weeks. this occurs whether the car is stationary or in motion.

Door does not close properly. door ajar light always goes off even after slamming the door shut. i have had this fixed by a dealership twice and it still doesnt work and the doors wont lock and the battery dies. this happens when shutting the door when statiinary.

Door ajar indicated when door is shut. dome light stays on, battery dies, door will not lock properly.

Takata recall this is the second time my 2013 ford edge limited has had this problem, two years ago we had to spend $650 on getting our driver side door latch now our passenger door latch is doing the same thing when we are driving the door will just fly open with no type of warning. sometimes before we start driving it will say driver door open. ive read multiple reports of this happening and ford is yet to do something about this problem. my wife could fall out while i am driving or vise versa. something needs to be done before someone winds up dead and ford has a lawsuit on there hand.

Front driver door ajar signal. when starting the car, the driver door ajar signal appears when door is closed. engine on signal appears, interior lights remain on, shift into park signal appears. door locks do not engage while vehicle is driven. safety is compromised with unlocked doors while driving. cleaning of contacts does not alleviate problem. ford motor company should recall or repair vehicles regardless of warranty.

Stationary 2013 ford edge drivers door latch freezes and will not unlock. when i do get the door open from other side it won't close and latch. i have to repeatedly slam door hard to get it to latch. ford garage in past lubricates the latch inside the door but it's a temporary fix. dealing with this every year.

I bought my ford edge from a dealership and 4 days after having it i was driving on a highway in the rain and the back sunroof shattered for no known reason. i took it to a ford dealership and they said it's inconclusive to why it broke

Water leak in the cab of the vehicle do to sealant gaps in a panel on the front driver side to the point were water was pooling on the rubber mats. i see that there were previous recalls for this problem however my vehicle was not included in the recall. i would like for my vehicle to be considered in this recall.

While traveling on highway at approximately 60 mph, the panoramic sunroof exploded. nothing hit the roof prior to it shattering.

Door ajar indicator keeps randomly coming on. doors will not lock and internal lights will be left on. it drained my battery and left me stranded 4 hours from home. truly random times... while vehicle is in motion, when parked and maybe hours later after vehicle is in park.

Driver's door stopped registering that it was closed, causing "door ajar" warning regardless of how hard/completely the door was shut. it would result in unsafe driving conditions, as the car would constantly issue an audible and visual warning while driving (during slow speeds/coming to a stop), and keep the interior/exterior lights on when parked, draining the battery. ford motor company is aware of the issue and has published technical service bulletin (tsb 14-0011) for its service personnel, but has failed to take financial responsibility for the defective parts impacting a multitude of their vehicle models (edge, explorer, and flex as well as lincoln mk-x & mk-t) for years 2011-2014. unofficially, this affects year models 2009-2018, based on information online forums such as fordproblems.com. the cost to fix was in excess of $500 at my local ford dealer, and i found it quite telling that they had the part on-hand for same day-service, even though my vehicle is now 5 years old.

Drivers door malfunctioning. safety hazard. door does not register close even when slam it hard.

The break booster was just on recall last year and was fixed by the ford dealership. it is now messed up again and is no longer under recall. the paint on the bumper of my 2013 ford edge that is always carport kept is peeling.

Door ajar on drivers side passenger door. mechanic advised should not be an issue with a vehicle this age. i see online many consumers reporting the same issue. i find this very concerning as we have small children in the back seat, ages 2 and 4. even of it's a sensor issue, it effects the ability to lock the car, and the dome light overhead to stay on for some time. plus, what if for now it's a sensor but later the latch doesn't work? how would anyone know the difference if the light is still present? the light stays on all the time, whether parked or in motion.

Takata recall my 2013 ford edge has been experiencing issues with the door. it constantly tells me my door is open when it is in fact closed. the lights stay on and if i try to drive the car it gives me a warning saying shift to park and that the door is open. it's been happening continusly and sometimes the door won't lock at all. it normally happens when i'm in park but as of recently it's happened as im droving. i'm also having issues with my brakes hitting the floor and my car excellerating instead of slowing down when the brakes are pressed...this normally happens on a freeway when i'm driving at high speeds.

Door ajar light on dash remains on even when doors shut securely. this causes inside lights to remain on, and buzzer to buzz. problem continues during vehicle in use

The vehicle started sensing the door was open when it was not. because of this my security system activates over and over. on january 2, 2018 this happened while parked away from home and it depleted the battery which is less than a year old. the temperature outside was near zero degrees and i was stranded for about a half hour in sub zero temperatures. i am 60 years old and suffer from diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer of the digestive system and this became a dangerous, life threatening situation. since january 2, 2018 my car has repeatedly run the battery down when sensing the door open and setting the alarm system active, repeatedly and for hours when i'm not around. after months of this i discovered today that my horn failed when in traffic and heavy rain and thunderstorms and i was unable to alert a car pulling into my right of way that i was there. this gets more and more dangerous every month, from nearly freezing to death, to nearly mangled on a us highway in northwest indiana something needs addressing by ford as this seems to be a constant problem in the ford edge vehicles. these problems have developed more often over the last year but i discovered the horn problem today in a possibly life threatening incident at 50 mph in rain and thunderstorms.

The latch assembly switch to the sensor that's not work correctly causing the interior light and the door ajar to stay on even with the doors closed. this is an ongoing problem and happens every day forward says it is not under warranty yet there are hundreds of complaints about this happening in the car should be recalled for this damage

Door is not registering that it is closed. interior lights remain on and drain battery. the driver ajar switch needs to be recalled and fixed.

Door adjar warning light stays on when door is closed.

When vehicle is parked the door ajar light remains on after door is closed. inside lights stay on and run the battery down.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. while driving various speeds, the door ajar warning indicator illuminated. the contact also stated that the rear passenger door independently unlocked. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

Warning light shows driver door open when the door is really closed. the dome light will stay on and the doors will not lock while in gear. this will drain the battery and is a safety issue since door will not lock.

My driver side door will be closed properly and the door ajar light will turn on.

Door ajar light on dash always on when ignition key is inserted - doors securely latched - dome lights stay on, draining battery - doors won't lock for safety in motion - dealer trying to act like they never heard of it, although thousands mentioned online - vehicle has 30600 miles

Driver side passenger door sensor always states the door is open, won't turn of interior lights so affecting vision while driving. interior lights stay on one due to door not closed so battery is dying. doors will not lock while driving very dangerous for small children . child safety lock will not work due to the sensor saying the door is open

Vehicle was in motion when all systems, including power steering stopped during a left turn. upon inspection, battery was dead. prior to this, the "door ajar" warning indicator was light, despite the door being latched. certified ford service center said that the door was indeed latched, so there was no safety issue there. however, didn't inform that it would drain battery. occasionally, the vehicle parking headlights would come on, along with dome light when not in operation.

The "door ajar" light stays on after closing the door. per social media it is a known and common problem. because the estimate for diagnostics and replacement (quoted by ford dealership) of a faulty switch in the door is approximately $525.00, there are social media suggestions on how to disable the switch (cutting a wire, etc.). disabling the switch could cause a safety hazard. i think a recall should is in order. my vehicle (2013 ford edge) has 29,300 miles on it. the problem first starting occurring in aug. 2017 and has steadily gotten worse.

Re: pe16012 i too am experiencing the door ajar light. there are two more safety issues you fail to consider as well as the extent of the problem. one, when the door ajar light is on and the vehicle is in motion the auto lock feature of the doors is lost. aside from the issue of the doors potentially opening there is the potential danger to the occupants of unwanted access by unscrupulous people. the second issue that when the car is parked and locked the interior lights remain on resulting in batteries being worn down and drivers and passengers stranded. not a wonderful thought in freezing winter conditions. the final point i would make is that there were 1349 complaints, now 1350, filed prior to mine. an old rule of thumb has been that for everyone who will take the time to write a letter of complaint there are 10,000 more who will not. the math says 13,500,000. obviously there were not this many ford edges sold in the 3 model years this safety issue has presented itself. in fact they sold a little under .3% of that number. that makes the ratio of complaints extremely high and much seriousness much greater. the date i note at the bottom is the approximate date the problem started.

You can be driving and the door ajar light will come on which turns the interior lights on making driving at night very difficult due to the unexpected lighting that reduces visibility greatly at an instance. also it may take several attempts closing the door to get the door ajar light to go out causing one to wonder if the door is truly closed or not.

Driver side door latch sensor indicating door ajar failed and the entire door latch had to be replaced.

Door ajar light stays on when drivers door is shut. this also causes the doors not to lock when engaged in the drive mode.

Left front door sensor regularly indicates door ajar, when it is not. effects whether i can lock doors to protect children and other passengers. also adversely impacts battery life; if sensor incorrectly indicates door ajar, the interior lights remain on after departing the vehicle, thus draining battery and increasing likelihood of not being able to start later.

Driverside door latch is messed up,it is showing doors ajar when it is closed.

Door latch does not properly secure. door ajar sensor light is always on. interior lights remain on and vehicle alarm will not activate because door locks do not engage. this happens constantly; when the vehicle is in motion, standing, parked, engine running and engine not running. low tire pressure sensor light also remains on at all times, even though it appears tires are inflated to proper pressure.

Defective door latch - the defect is not covered in other recall for ford models for the same problem. it is safety concern and ford customer service will not repair the vehicle.

The door ajar warning will not go off with the door closed . it will do it after driving for a few miles and when first started. i can no longer lock my car at night because the alarm will go off due to this issue and wake everyone up. i have been reading many complaints about this issue, and for as much as these cars cost , i can't believe ford has not issued a recall to fix it. this is a safety hazard due to me not being able to lock my doors at night, and because while driving, the doors unlock. please expedite this investigation for myself and the thousands of others this has affected.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. the contact stated that the door ajar warning indicator was constantly illuminated even though all the doors were closed. the contact stated as a result, the interior lights in the vehicle remained illuminated. the vehicle was taken to bill collins ford where it was diagnosed that the driver-side door latch needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure however no further assistance was offered. the failure mileage was approximately 88,000.

Door latch sensor stays on. dealership states it is a typical faulty part that they have to replace. even after replacing the same part continues to fail.

Door ajar issue see attached. 5th complaint and no response safety issue when door flung open while driving , 8 year old child was in the vehicle!!!

The door ajar warning for my drivers side stays on all the time, even when door is securely closed. this has caused interior lights to remain on and battery life to be drained. the doors will not lock while driving.

Driver door open signal stays on, even after opening and closing door multiple times

Lh door ajar lamp wont let the interior lamps turn off during vehicle in use, a real problem at night.

The door ajar light will not go off on my 2013 ford edge when the door is securely shut. this causes the interior dome to remain on while driving causing a serious driving obstruction and dangerous condition. it is also draining the battery.

Door latch doesn't latch disabling door locks and it is a hazard. was told not on recall. heavy smell of exhaust. when filling gas the evap code comes and it is rough to start.

My driver and passenger door is flagging that it's ajar when it's not.
