Door ajar sensor is overacting. initially a few door closings rectified. has gotten worse over time and disallows locking, warns to shift to park often in slower traffic. interior lights remain on for more than 20 minutes draining the battery. no way to shut off interior lights with this door ajar defect even with the car off and doors firmly closed. *tr

The sensor in my drivers door does not recognize the door is closed. as i'm driving the doors will not lock and the interior lights flash on and off because the electrical system thinks the door is opening. also the vehicle alerts me with every bump i hit in the road that the door is ajar with a screen alert and ringing bell. i brought this to the dealership and spent $150 to have it cleaned which helped for 6 months and now it is acting up again. *tr

Door ajar notification stays on when door is closed, running, and while driving. this causes the lighting to remain on thus draining the battery.

Drive door ajar light on when door closed preventing doors to lock. safety hazard. *tr

2012 ford edge door ajar alarm safety issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. while the driver side door was completely closed, the door ajar indicator illuminated and the chime sounded. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 33,500.

Driver's door sensor not working properly. driver's door ajar warning stays on even when door is clearly closed. because of this, the inside dome light stays on. when first entering vehicle in the mornings, interior light does not come on. because of this i am unable to lock the doors when driving. *tr

The door ajar light stays on no matter how hard you close the door. *tr

When in drive, and door closed, door ajar indicator constantly dings. when contacting dealership, they acknowledged its a known issue for this vehicle, yet ford doesn't deem it a safety issue, therefore won't recall it. it is a distraction, and door is unable to be locked when in drive, creating a safety issue. also, since the vehicle thinks the door is open, when in park and locked, interior lights will not go off, leading to battery drain. dealership wants to charge a diagnostic fee, before it will fix the problem when they know exactly what the issue is. of course the issue happened right after vehicle went over mileage warranty. door lock was already replaced within a month of vehicle purchase, and the second one went bad already. those only have 1000 mile warranty on replacement parts, ford is knowingly putting defective parts in the vehicles. *tr

Driver door and left rear door constantly says door ajar. regardless how hard it is closed it still says door ajar. wd40 or any other lubrucant or cleaner does not rectify the situation. this is when the vehicle is parked or in motion, with the key in or out of the ignition. because of this the interior lights to not turn out, which causes the battery to go dead repeatedly. in addition to the dead battery the dome light will stay on while driving.

Driver door sensor light will not go out, even when door is securely closed. locks will not engage when driver door sensor light is on. may be issue with latch mechanism. poses safety and security issues for driver and passengers because although vehicle is drivable, locks will not engage.if sensor light is on. appears to be a common issue which ford is ignoring. *tr

Sync intermittently shuts down sometimes for days at a time. when sync shuts down, the back-up camera is non-functioning which eliminates safe backing. there is no way to see small people or items that might be directly behind the vehicle....very dangerous!!!

Instrument panel saying passenger door ajar when the door is closed when driing. car locks do not lock due to this message also, several times alarm has gone off on its own both issues have been happening for two years also, while driving there sometimes has been a noise like the transmission is shifting incorrectly

When the edge is stopped and the driver door is opened and then closed the door ajar warning remains on. this causes the inside light to remain on and the doors to not lock. when in a parking lot at night this causes a severe safety issue. i have to open and close the door 5 or 6 times before it will register the door is closed to allow the doors to be locked. there was one occasion the passenger door was open and closed then the driver door ajar warning came on, i had to find a place to park out of traffic to correct the issue. on one other occasion i was driving down the road and the door ajar warning came on and the interior light came on. i had to pull off the freeway to open and close the door until it registered it was closed again. *tr

I recently purchased a 2012 ford edge. in nov. 2013 a warning started showing on the dash every time i close the door (either driver side doors or passenger side doors) that says door ajar. no matter how many times i close the door it still says it. if i ignore it and drive down the road another warning pops up that says shift into park. when these warnings are on the interior lights stay on as well. which could leave to a dead battery . these warnings going off every few minutes is very aggravating and for me a little scary as well especially when u r driving down the road and it says warning shift into park.... is there any kind of recall for this problem or anything that can be done to fix this? i thought it would stop but after having the vehicle for 9 months it is still doing it. i have my grandbabies in the vehicle with me alot and to me whenever there is any kind of warning showing up that is a problem and could lead to something serious and should be taken care of by ford. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. the contact stated that after starting the engine, the door ajar warning light illuminated however, the door was closed in a secure position. in addition, the interior lights activated. the failure recurred whenever the vehicle was operable. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 28,000. updated 04/13/15*lj updated 6/29/2015*js

The panel shows driver door ajar all the time while driving the interior lights stay on after car has been locked for some time the lights go on even if the car has not been used for a while while the door ajar is on, the doors do not lock-safety issue, car in motion i tried getting the dealer i bought the car from to repair it, they stated that they could not because there was not recalls on my issues. but if i wanted it repaired it would cost me $350.00 to change the sensor that may be causing the problem. i believe the dealer sold me a lemon...the door ajar comes up as i close the left door as i put the car in motion;the doors do not lock while the car is in motion; interior lights is when the car is parked; the lights go on when the car is parked in the garage. the battery has died a couple of times as a result of this.

Door ajar sensor has failed causing the door ajar warning to stay on, dome lites and parking lites stay on as well after parking.doors will not lock when driving, causing a huge safety concern for myself and passengers. *js

Drivers side door ajar warning lights when door is closed, preventing door locks from being engaged, dome lights stay on, and door ajar alarm activates every time vehicle stops. the alert is distracting and interferes with detection of other alarms. door locks not being engaged is a safety issue, particularly with children in vehicle. condition worsens over time and also is worse at temperatures above 85 degrees f. *tr

With the driver door closed, display shows door ajar and the dome lights are on. the car doesn't lock the doors too. it is dangerous to drive with the lights on straight in your face! this a security failure and seems to be epidemic on ford cars. dealers are charging $400 to $500 to replace the faulty switch inside the door latch. ford should recall as a safety matter and do the repair for free. *tr

The display reads: "shift into park" with the vehicle moving when the door ajar indicator (falsely)reports the door is ajar. this is a problem that multiple ford owners have reported and is ongoing since the 2007 model year. *tr

When door is closed the door alarm still goes off and shows door open on screen. after opening and closing the door several times, it sometimes goes off and sometimes stays on. very annoying. ford should fix. have had to drive down road with alarm going off even though door is closed and locked. *tr

Both driver and front passenger doors ajar sensors do no work properly. the doors are shut and the vehicle sensors do not reflect that. *tr

At randon the driver door ajar light & warning will appear. this prevents doors from being locked while the key is in the ignition switch. door is secure and closed. warning light will sometimes come on while driving. i am concerned it presents a security issue while driving in some urban areas. ford dealership where i bought the car said that they had seen the problem before and, since it was outside the warranty period, would cost approx. $300.00 to repair. *tr

Door sensor does not allow door to lock. dash indicates door is not closed and tells you to put vehical in park. problem continues to come back. dealer has had it 5 times. they will not replace sensor.... just clean it. this is safety issue.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. the contact stated that the front driver side door warning light illuminated even though the door was closed securely. in addition, the interior dome lights remained illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the door ajar sensor was replaced. the failure recurred two years later. the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 25,000.

Door ajar sensor stays on, even though door is closed. the vehicle will not allow doors to lock when driving, and the alarm keeps going off, and dome light stays on when car is turned off if keys are left in the ignition. the doors not locking is the big safety problem, and should be recalled immediately. i had the dealer fix this once when the car was just over a year old, and now it is happening again a year and a half later. faulty part for sure.

Vehicle caught on fire after we attempted to park the vehicle. this incident took place less than two weeks after new car purchase from dealer! horrible experience and a safety hazard for anyone looking to purchase a ford edge. *js

2012 ford edge. consumer writes in regards to several safety problems and seeks financial compensation or vehicle replaced. *smd the consumer stated the my touch screen would go black, and lock up. also, the brakes did not engage, which resulted in an accident. the problem was determined to be the brake booster. the vehicle showed a front collision system fault, the navigation was stuck. also, when the consumer shut the vehicle off, a shift to park signal illuminated on the dashboard display, and she was unable to turn off the light in the vehicle. updated 03/27/14
