Door ajar light stays on even after the door is tightly shut causing the dome light to stay on and causing the door to be unable to be locked,
The door ajar sensor is sending false signals that the drivers door is open when they are in fact it is closed. the faulty sensor triggers an audible warning, activates a warning light and causes a "shift to park" message because the computer mistakenly believes the vehicle has stopped (this has happened twice recently while at a stop light; very scary). dome lights stay on, battery is drained and at time doors unlock and cannot be manually re-locked. three years ago i took my vehicle into the dealership to be fixed ($380). three years later, the same issue is happening.
The car alarm goes off at random times at night.
I was driving to work through a busy town i was preparing to stop at a stoplight and my brakes went to the floor there weren't any signs of brake issues prior so i assumed the brakes needed replacing so when i got off work i went and bought brakes my husband was gonna put them on when he checked he said the brakes were fine that the fluid could be leaking the fluid level was fine and no leaks were found he still looked for one just in case so next he said it could be master cylinder and reservoir i was looking online at this point and seen all the same issues others were having as well with this suv i told him there wasn't any need to spend more money because the way it sounded was that its not gonna fix the issue any how because ford itself can't figure out why brakes are going to the floor themselves so i'm left with a unsafe vehicle to drive with a payoff of 10000 dollars what do i do? i'm so tired of getting screwed that i'm abt to hire an attorney and find out why am i left with this problem to face and why others are having to suffer as well if there's an ongoing lawsuit near washington nc let me know if not there's soon to be one if others need to join as well
I get ready to start my day as usual i go and start my vehicle (stationary) to warm it up, as i got ready to set the temperature in the suv i noticed the bottom touch panel did not light up. so i pushed the button to turn off the heat that was blowing and it didnt turn off, i tried and again and nothing. its to hot in texas with little children to have electrical problems that effect the air conditioning. i pushed other buttons to see if anything worked and still nothing, the hazard lights will not function nor will the electric windows. my family and i drove the vehicle to my destination afterwards i had the fuses tested they are good, but was told it is front interface control module. this is my only vehicle and hopefully a ford dealership can give a better diagnosis than auto part store.
When i am driving to work at 5:00 am down the interstate my interior lights will just come on. my edge has interior lights that won't go off door ajar is on the dashboard. late at night when my car is not in motion and my lights just turn on my home security system has recorded it several times and the car has sat off for many hours. my door ajar light is always on. for safety reasons this should be addressed by the ford company.
The driver side door keep saying ajar even when the door is closed. the doom light won't go out and it kills the battery. i checked on youtube and others been having the same problem with this issue. there should be something that ford can do to correct the problem. 2012 ford door latch replacement part to fix this problem.
Driver door ajar warning comes on, leaving interior lights on running battery down.
The rear left door "door ajar" indicator would show that the door was open, even when slammed shut. at first i had to slam the door harder, but after a while even that didn't work. when that didn't work, it became an issue because my interior lights wouldn't go off after leaving the car. i had to break the part to get my lights to go off so i didn't drain my battery overnight.
Ford - door ajar - the sensor was replaced back in 2013 and 2015. appears to have faild again. cleary a safety concern as the doors will not lock. clearly a known issue by ford due to the number of reports. who can entrust the safty of a young woment in a dark parking garage from getting gang raped if she can't find safty in her ford motor vechical.
The driver door light stays on door ajar
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. the contact stated that the backup camera did not work when activated. legacy ford (27225 southwest fwy, rosenberg, tx 77471, (800) 373-4156) stated that the interface module was not working and the contact had missed a recall. the dealer stated that the recall was extended; however, the contact missed that too. the manufacturer stated that nhtsa could extend a recall for the contact and transferred her to nhtsa. the failure mileage was 109,000.
Door ajar sensor keeps going off, drains battery, leaves me stranded - huge issue for a family!
My wife was driving to work after dropping our 2 year old off at grandmas. she went to slow for a stale green light and the brake pedal went to the floor. luckily she was almost to work at this point. we had the vehicle towed to my shop. replace the brake booster because it has a known issue ( no recall just warranty extension), also replaced the master cylinder because this was clearly a hydraulic failure in the brake system. driving the vehicle home that night with a good pedal until i get to the off ramp, at 70 miles an hour there is no longer any brake pedal and had to use the transmission to safely slow the vehicle. now my wife is terrified to drive her vehicle in fear that the pedal is there one minute and gone the next.
Vehicle displays a warning "vehicle coolant over temperature" the vehicle had been inspected twice and the technicians claimed not to have been able reproduce the error and also claimed that the computer was not "spitting" out any errors. the message displays within the first file miles after the car has been stationary for more than 2 hours and it is displayed for 10-20 seconds.
1. when vehicle placed in park, p indicator does not illuminate and when door is opened an audible alarm is sounded and a visisble alarm comes up on the guages saying to place vehicle in park. 2. when putting vehicle in reverse, sony display goes blacks and displays an error message stating that the back up camera needs to be inspected. 3. driver side seatbelt is slow to retract. recently purchased vehicle within last 6 months and noticed some of these are common problems throughout the ford edge community.
Ford edge 'door ajar' indicator stays on despite door being closed. this has the effect of being unable to lock doors even when driving. this has been constant and unrelenting problem for approx 1 year.
Driver's side door sensor. vehicle warning light days driver's door is open when it is actually closed. problem prevents auto door locks to engage and keeps interior lights on when door is locked and ignition is off causing battery drain.
Filed door ajar complaint with nhts september 24, 2014 #10638797. had problem repaired march 15, 2015. cost $245.93. same issue occuring again. this time the door ajar warning will not go off unless the car is in gear and we open the door and close it. not safe to be traveling and opening and closing a door to get door ajar warning to turn off.
The drivers side door latch warning light come on the dash when you close the door and will not go off. until several closing attemps and it is very annoying because the overhead courtesy lights and the warning chime continues every few seconds.i found that this problem is contagious with this make and year ford. ford needs to fix this defect as much as i paid for the car i don't need this added cost ($260) for repair. this has be happening frequently for about nine months. i have bought several ford vehicles over the years and this one is a bummer. i hope they recall this one before i trade it in on chevy.
Brake booster went out, door ajar keeps coming and leaves my interior lights on draing battery
Left rear passenger door is ajar. drivers door is ajar. lights won't go off because the sensors say the doors are open. i believe they are shut. this has killed my battery. it happens frequently causing stress not knowing if my car is going to start in the morning
Door ajar sensor is failing. door ajar message stays on with door closed (driver's) making driving very difficult with constant warning beeps and dome light on (even at night). i have to open and shut the door multiple times very hard for it to go away. many many people have had this issue, and apparently it progressively gets worse until they have constant beeping warning, dome light on while driving at night, doors that won't lock while driving and the constant risk of a dead battery after returning to their parked vehicle. i've already had to buy a new battery due to the dome light staying on after parking. this is very dangerous and deserves a recall. the current fix apparently requires replacing the entire latch for around $400, every two years on average. this is ridiculous.
Driver door ajar warning light stays on even when the door is closed. it drains the battery.
Malfunctioning door ajar sensor stays remains when door is securely closed. can drain the battery. had the sensor in driver's door replace while under manufacturer's warranty. the replacement sensor is now malfunctioning and the vehicle is out of warranty.
Door ajar issue. door is latched properly, but the sensor is faulty.
The driver's side door ajar is constantly on. i have opened and shut the door multiple times and even tried to do what some youtube videos have shown. dome light sometimes stays on after i park, sometimes goes off. i will have a dead battery and probably additional costs unless i want to pay $400+ to ford to fix this known issue.
The passenger rear left door open indicator will not go off thus keeping my dome light on and draining my battery not to mention doors will not lock automatically.
When you start your car. a message comes on that doors are not closed. it happens randomly every time you drive the car. you can open and shut your doors. all the time. the car also randomly honks the horn and the lights all flash. we have changed the batteries in the remotes and it still happens. this has been going on for while.
There has been a service bulletin issued for a 'door ajar' warning when the car is started caused by the failure of the drivers door latch. this does not go out when the car is turned off. this results in the dome light staying on and draining the battery. not repairing could result in the inability to lock the vehicle electronically. the failure usually occurs after 50k miles, leaving the owner to pay for a common and expensive part failure. i
The door sensor will not go off even though the door is completely shut. i have a 2012 ford edge. keeps saying door ajar when it is closed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. while the vehicle was parked and unoccupied with the engine running, the door ajar warning indicator illuminated. the contact also stated that the door ajar chime was audible and the advance trac warning indicator illuminated. the dealer (hixson ford of monroe, 6300 frontage rd, monroe, la 71202, (318) 388-3300) was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 84,500.
Door latch sensor malfunctioning. the door will not shut off the door ajar warning when the door is closed. two doors have already been repaired through our local ford dealership, both driver side doors, and now the passenger side door is beginning to do the same thing.
The vehicle reports the driver side door is ajar when it is securely closed. this occurs when the car is stationary and in motion. it also occurs when the vehicle is not yet started. this results in audio and visual alarms while the car is running, and interior lighting which remains on for long periods when the car is turned off.
After researching ford edge research there were so many complaints of people having the same thing occur to them. my car will start and be driving then all of a sudden the car literally looses all power and the car shuts down. this has happened to me twice and it appears that ford doesn't want to issue a recall on this. people's lives are in danger, there is no warning of when this will happen and then you stuck sitting on the road while in drive as your car lost power.
Car has been having electric issues for a while. usually detected once trying to start. first issue is the back up camera. that no longer works while in reverse. screen indicated it is not available. we also recently had to replace the shifting column. after a trip of driving coming to a full stop shifting to park the car would not stay on "park". it would not catch the gear unless the button on the shift column was toyed with a few times pressing on the button so car recognizes "park". it would search for "park" when car was off which would cause the battery to eventually die. we first purchased a battery thinking it's time to replace but once we did, it killed our battery again and then is when i knew i had to take it into ford. $700+ to fix issue currently not recalled. this also forced us to buy jump starting cables before it was taken in. car left us stranded a few times because of this. dead battery:( third electric issue is that the bluetooth system doesn't always catch a device. often the sync screen on the display will pull up with a loading bar. this happens randomly when starting car at times while in part.
The warning 'driver door is ajar' is displayed on the dashboard even though the door is closed. this is an intermittent problem. the warning is displayed once the car is started and will remain on while the car is running. the next time the car is started, the warning may or may not display but it does not change while the car is running. i would estimate that the warning is displayed about 1/2 of the time the car is started. if the warning is displayed, the interior lights stay on for an extended amount of time and the doors do not automatically lock. once the car is turned off, the doors cannot be locked by pressing the right most two buttons of the door combination lock panel and the lights under the mirrors remain lit for an extended amount of time. it has been doing this for about 6 months. it does not seem to be impacted by temperature.
Door ajar light stays on even when door is closed. the issue is causing lights to stay on and draining battery. alarm system cannot be activated because it will go off unexpectedly if it senses that the door has been opened.
Interior lighting and review mirrors lighting. this vehicle lighting stays on for and extended period of time after the vehicle has been parked and removed the keys from the ignition. there are times when the lnterior lights will be on when parked or in a stationary position.
Door ajar stays on
Faulty door latch sensor on rear driver side door. the door ajar light comes on when the door is fully closed causing the interior lights to come on as well. the interior light stay on even after the car is shut off causing draining of the battery. the door ajar light has even come on when driving. problem started over a month ago and has been sporadically happening
The door ajar sensor is always on. when i start driving the lights are on until i move a few feet. i am not able to lock my doors or use my remote start. it has killed my battery. when my car is parked and turned off the lights will come on and off randomly.
Drivers side door ajar sensor is defective. at about 60k miles, the driver door ajar light stays on. slamming the door repeatedly over a dozen times will sometimes turn the lights off. after googling the issue i see that it's a problem for hundreds of ford edge owners between the years 2011-2013. this should be considered a serious recall issue. this is my wife's car and she drives our daughter to school and practice. when the door ajar light won't go out you cannot lock the doors. at night the interior lights won't turn off, so it's hard to see outside the vehicle and is an accident waiting to happen. if she's in an accident and the doors fly open, damage will be much worse. if she's at an intersection and a criminal opens her door because she can't lock the car it's on ford. there's a lack of overall security and safety with this door ajar issue. this should be a recall. i am lucky enough to be able to afford the $439.95 we were charged to repair it, but those who aren't put the rest of us on the road at risk.
09/15/2017 driver door ajar came on showing door was open. closed door several times and it would go off. this happened several times until 10/10/2017. now it won't go off and my doors wouldn't auto lock when in motion and wouldn't stay locked manually either. my dome ligh would stay on also. 10/16/2017 car would not start, battery was drained and no lights were left on. called garage and jump started vehicle and took it in for repairs. just got call that the battery and door ajar sensor will have to be replaced. it will cost almost $800.00 to fix. the warranty just expired on vehicle and that leaves me with the bill. i read numerous other complaints about the same vehicle and same problem. there should be a recall on this. it is a big safety issue especially when you have children and the doors won't stay locked.
Vehicle is stationary. dash warning "driver's door is ajar". door is closed, but computer indicates the door is not closed. when this occurs, a warning light appears on the dash indicating "door is ajar". if i drive with that light on, another warning is displayed to "shift to park". when warning is on, the dome lights stay on. if i attempt to lock the car with the remote, the horn beeps twice (as opposed to once), indicating the doors are not locked.
The door ajar warning stays on when door is closed
Door ajar sensor lights up for drivers door when it is securely shut. this makes the dome light stay on and constant warnings place unnecessary strain on battery. this is very dangerous to drive at night because the dome light stays on as well. just purchased this car in july 2017 used and it began this issue in september 2017.
Door ajar light stays on even when door is closed. interior lights stay on while driving, dangerous at night. has already ran battery down and almost stranded. i purchased the vehicle new and never been mistreated and garage kept.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 ford edge. each time the passenger door was closed, the door ajar indicator illuminated. the door had to be opened and closed a couple of times in order for the warning indicator to go off. the vehicle was taken to boulevard ford in lewes, delaware where it was diagnosed that the sensor and latch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the contact stated that the failure occurred for two months. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 48,676. ...updated 10/23/17 *bf updated 10/24/2017*js
