The door ajar alarm will sound even when the door is secure. when this occurs the interior lights come on and it gives a audible signal. interior lights coming on are hazardous when driving at night especially when it happens expectantly. this activation also causes the lights to stay on after you leave the vehicle. this has caused the battery to drain and not being able to start the engine. this happen to my wife while at work. fortunately, this time, it wasn't in a remote location, but it could happen. ford refuses to recall or repair at their cost, even though i had it repaired previously (while under warranty).

Faulty/failing door latch sensor triggers "door ajar" instrument panel and sound warnings while engine is on, causing doors to unlock, interior lights to come on, and continued sound warnings whenever vehicle accelerates. when vehicle is stationary and engine is off, sensor fault causes interior lights to remain on for 10-minute cycle that cannot be manually overridden (per ford). issue was addressed while vehicle was under warranty, but ford will not address it now under warranty or "goodwill" repair program.

2012 ford edge se. i notice that sometimes it would show door ajared warning light. i would have open and close my door several times before the light go off. then it progress to the point now it's permernant. now doors won't lock while driving, interior lights momentarily stay on and the alarm beeps twice ( warning that the door ajar is keeping it from setting properly.
When starting and shutting off the car, the "driver door ajar" warning comes on and interior lights will not shut off. you have to continually slam the door to get both to go out. sometimes the warning light and interior lights come on while driving. this makes it extremely difficult to see the road when it's dark outside. i almost went into a ditch last week because of this issue. i started complaining about this issue while still under warranty but the ford dealer did not fix it. now they want $500 to correct the problem. ford should be accountable for this known safety issue - not the consumer.
The driver door sensor states the door is ajar, although it is closed, registers open. the latch is defective.the door ajar warning sounds on the dash board, dome lights stay on and doors do not lock. door has to be opened and slammed closed many times for the warning to go off, but only temporarily. hard to lock car, dome light stays on. happens while driving, in park, basically anytime the car is on. had the issue fixed at a dealership - had to pay $494.00!! i see this is an issue with many ford edge owners - ford needs to get this fixed and recall - unsafe!!!
Door ajar and latch issue. door ajar signal stays on when door is closed. interior light stays on. therefore, we are not able to lock the doors while in vehicle. i guess the latch on driver side has some problem. also, there are so many people also noticed similar problem. if you use google to search "ford edge driver door ajar" a lot of people have the same problem as me. even some people upload videos to youtube to guide people how fix it by their own. i strongly recommend ford to recall our cars and figure out this problem for us!!!!
Drivers dash warning light stays on reflecting door is unlocked. started out as a occasional , then more common now it stays on 90% of the time.
Rear driver side door ajar light will not turn off, have drained 2 car batteries, the alarm goes off at random and the interior dome light stays on. had to pull cabin lighting fuse to stop battery from draining. the indication is constantly on there is no way to tell in door is actually ajar or not.
Driver`s door sensor tells door ajar-when it is not
Drivers side door says ajar all the time. i have already gotten it fixed once and will have to again.

Passenger door ajar sensor is malfunctioning. system does not recognize hat the door is closed and will not allow doors to lock posing safety issue. also the dome light will not turn off due to the sensor not recognizing that the door is closed. even after repeatedly shutting door (over 10 times) the sensor will pop on during driving of the vehicle. done lights remain on after car is turned off which drains the battery.
Door open indicator light comes on and will not turn off when the car is turned on. when this happens, you cannot lock the doors, which is a safety issue. the interior lights also stay on... which makes it more difficult to drive at night (also a safety issue). this is the second time our car has had this issue. we had the door latch replaced the first time in 2014. it recently started occurring again on two doors in our car. it costs $500 per door to fix each occurrence. ford should own up to this issue that is being reported by multiple people and fix it before someone gets hurt, robbed, or killed because they can't lock their doors.
The door sensor says the driver's door is open when it is not and stays on. this does not allow the door locks to close and is unsafe. the interior lights also go on and stay on for a period of time.
Door jar light on dash will not go out left rear.
The driver side door latch assembly has went bad and it is a problem that ford refuses to address. it keep the light on in the cabin of the car and the door doesn't lock appropriately for safety.
Passenger door ajar warning keeps showing, even after the door has been closed repeatedly. sensor is failing. car only has 38,000 miles on it!
The driver's door sensor is malfunctioning. it alerts you that the door is open when it is clearly shut and shut well. i believe it is the sensor. the sensor is in the door panel and not easily replaced. this problem causes the lights to not go off and door alert to stay on, in effect distracting the driver and misinforming them of a problem. this may affect the car doing other things if it thinks the door is open when it is not. this happens when vehicle is stationary and continues while moving. it is not an adjustment problem with the latch.

Safety issue with door ajar warning, dome light stays on, door does not lock while driving. a warning chimes " put back in park." the doors cannot be locked from the inside. slamming the door to eliminate warning 'door ajar' risk injury and damage to other components. research shows a long standing nationwide problem and no recall. to the dealer it goes to provide safety to the family.
Soon after purchasing a used 2012 edge, the open door light on the dash came on and would not go off. all doors were closed. also the doors would not lock when the light came on which became a safety hazard particularly when transporting children. brought it to my mechanic and he said the door latch and light switch was one module and that it had to be replaced to the tune of about $500. once replaced the problem was solved. looking online, this is a really common problem. i feel its a defect that should be recalled and replaced!
Driver side door ajar warning light and message displayed after entering or exiting the vehicle even though the door is shut. problem occurs intermittently, seemingly more often when outside temperatures reach above 70 degrees. attempts to open and shut the door multiple times often does not resolve the issue. when issue occurs the doors do not lock automatically when the vehicle begins moving, interior lights remain on. occurs when starting to drive the vehicle or when parking. if parking, when the key fob "lock" button is pushed the horn honks twice rather than the normal single honk, indicating that the security alarm is not activated. problem occurred within the first 10k miles and was fixed by ford dealership under warranty. problem started to occur again around 35k miles (jan 2016).
Driver door ajar when not. door locks do not engage while driving, interior dome lights remain on which drains battery and unable to drive at night due to this. major safety issue. can not lock vehicle from outside or set alarm all interior locks remain on and do not shut off
The drivers side of the car blows extremely hot no matter the temp setting. this has been happing for over a year now off and on. it started last winter when the passenger side blew icy cold no matter the temperature setting. my driver side door always shows ajar therefore my kicks will not engage while driving . this malfunctioned 2 years ago
Drivers side door alarm shows door ajar when it is not. interior lights stay on. no amount of door closing makes it stop. it was inconsistent, now it happens constantly.
Door ajar light stays on even after closing door several times. this causes the doors to stay unlocked and the dome light on. it also intermittently will turn on at night while just sitting in the driveway draining the battery. it is very dangerous to be driving around with the doors unlocked and with the dome light on at night.
Even though the driver's side door is properly closed, the door ajar indicator light will all of a sudden come on and then the interior lights will also come one which is very hazardous if you are driving at night. also when this happens you cannot lock the doors which makes it not safe for children or adults with disabilities whom may be a passenger in the car as well. sometimes you have to slam the door about 15 times before it stops or it might not stop at all.
2012 ford edge with 51,000 miles. driver door ajar warning keeps coming on when door is not ajar both when vehicle is moving or not moving. i can open and close the door several times and sometimes it will go off sometimes it won't. it will even come on 20-40 minutes after i've been driving at times when door has not been reopened and closed. it even came on after the passenger door was opened and closed, driver door ajar not passenger door ajar. whenever i stop, the shift to park warning also comes on wanting me to shut my door so i have two warnings beeping at me. interior lights will not go off until i start moving forward so i can't see behind me backing out of driveways and stalls at night which is scary. i have gotten to where i just ignore the warnings as many people do with their check engine and seatbelt warnings knowing my door is closed. but what if one day it actually isn't closed and my door does come open while driving causing an accident and injury? i did purchase the part at a cost of $210.37 as ford refuses to pay to have this fixed saying it is not a recall or safety issue. the warning lights are safety features but this is not a safety issue?
Driver's door latch is not registering as closed. lights stay on, i cannot lock my doors. my battery dies if it is not "shut". a lot of money loss in batteries and time lost in standing in sometimes snow or rain for minutes trying to get it to register. also, i have children and would prefer my child is unable to open their door while in motion. purchased the car used in november 2015 and it started malfunctioning after a month. i find it shocking that there is not a recall on this. it is an obvious safety issue and very well known with dealerships and repair shops, but the fixing price is around $500.
1) "shift to park" error: have to click the shifter one or two times to clear it. until i do, the seat does not move back for exiting. 2) "driver door ajar" error: have to open and close the door, sometimes only once, but usually many times in order to clear the error. 3) if the "door" error is not cleared, the "shift" error will appear while moving, whenever i come to a stop. also, the audible signal will kick in. 4) at times the driver door will not unlock with the touch of my hand. i suspect when i shut the door last, the "door" error was probably in effect. service: i actually took my car to the dealer and all they could tell me was that the shifter had to be replaced for $500. they couldn't even find the "door" error. i think this merits a recall notice and ford should repair these problems at no or reasonable costs.
Door ajar light stays on after i shut and turn off car
2012 ford edge - check engine light comes on 4+ times a month. no problems found. could cause consumer to ignore the light when there is a real problem with the engine. occurs with engine on in stationary condition, and upon starting the vehicle and while in motion. purchased may 2014.
My 2012 ford edge has driver and rear doors ajar indicators are on the dash, closing the door repeatedly does not correct the problem. the car keeps telling me to shift to park. the door switch is a module inside the door. this is bad. when you park the car and lock it the light stays on exposing the inside of the car. this is unacceptable and need to be fixed or removed completely.
Door ajar warning comes on after shutting the drivers door. i have taken this in 2 times since i had this under warranty to have it fix and now it has happen again. with this problem these are the other problems caused by it. ' the dome light stays on and creates a night driving hazard. ' the dome light stays on and creates a safety hazard when sitting in a public area at night. ' the false door ajar signals prevents the driver from recognizing a real door ajar situation ... very dangerous. ' the doors will not lock which is a major safety issue. ' faulty latch. the car has only 33000 miles on it and this is the 3rd time this has happen. this should be recall before someone gets hurt or kill by a faculty sensor that people will start ignoring because it doesn't work.
