Door ajar light stays on when door is closed, light will turn on minutes or hours after locked overnight and is draining battery. light on while driving at night is very distracting and interferes with night vision. cant lock doors when driving so door could open in a crash.issue continues
The driver's door light ajar sensor stays on even after the door is shut and keeps the interior dome light on. this has been happening on and on again off again basis for years. recently it is happening all the time. when we get in and start the car no matter how many times the door is opened and shut the notice stays on. this will then continue as long as the car is in reverse and makes backing up at night very hard as you can't see with the interior lights on. when backing from the driveway into the street you cannot see if there is traffic. when the car is put in drive the dome light will finally go out after a short period of time. if we park the car and lock it the dome light will stay on for 5 or more minutes as it registers as the front door being ajar. neighbors have stopped at our home to tell us we left our interior lights on.
The on screen door ajar warning shows door open when non exists. this keeps the dome lights from shutting off and can interfear with unlocking or opening other doors with the remote. sometimes the dome light dome light stays on leaving my battery dead and me stranded.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. the contact stated that the headlights were very dim. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the failure mileage was 120,107.
Takata recall the door ajar message displays on my 2011 ford edge vehicle constantly and the door is shut. the lights stay illuminated because of the door ajar sensor not working properly. also i can not lock my doors when i am inside the vehicle when the engine is on which is unsafe in my opinion. i have seen that many people have stated this has happened to their ford as well, but a recall has not been issued.
Soon after starting my car and putting it in reverse, the passenger door ajar indicator came on as well as all the interior lights. the passenger door looked securely closed, but i tried closing it again to be sure. the passenger door ajar indicator stayed on as well as the interior lights, which made it difficult to see at night. since then it has stayed on every time i drive the car. additionally, i am not able to lock the car doors when it is in motion because of this problem. i took it to the shop and they said the actuator was faulty. apparently this is a wide-spread problem with the ford edge.
I first noticed this problem when i turned on the vehicle in my garage and the passenger door ajar indicator came on as well as all of the interior lights. even thought the door looked to be securely closed, i opened and closed the door again to be sure. the passenger door ajar indicator and all the interior lights stayed on, which made seeing at night while driving very difficult and dangerous. additionally, i was unable to lock the doors of the car because of this problem. the technician at the shop said it was a faulty actuator and that many ford edge's have had this problem.
The headlights have no horizontal, only vertical adjustment allowed and can not be adjusted so as to light the road full width which, causes parked cars and such to be overlooked and possibly struck. i have had several close calls because of this problem when driving after dark. this is a major safety risk and should not be ignored. ford motor co. must be made to correct this problem.
Driver door ajar light continuously lit.the door is closed but the dome lights remain on.
The door ajar light stays on despite all doors being closed. this in turn prohibits the doors to lock on the vehicle (while driving and parked).the dome light will turn on intermittently, this includes during night time driving and when parked - both creating major safety issues. battery drainage - being left with an inoperable vehicle. visibility - severe glare and limited visibility while driving in darkness. personal safety - doors not looking creates a threat to personal safety (there is a reason car doors lock automatically within a few minutes of takeoff - personal safety). in addition to this, the backup camera went out at 50000miles. so disappointed!
Door ajar light won't shut off. i'm blinded at night when i need to move the car since the lights are on. my battery is drained due to the lights remaining on. i use my vehicle at night so this has me very worried to be stranded. my doors don't lock. for needs to recall. thank you.
The passenger door ajar light comes on even after the door is closed, and the even if the car is turned off and the doors locked it will act like the door comes open and set the alarm off and or turn the interior lights on causing the battery to die. it happens continuously everyday.
The door ajar light is constantly on causing the interior lights to stay on after you get out of car and while you are driving. also the car locks will not lock while driving the car and you can't leave the key in the ignition while parked but staying in the car. a bell will just keep ringing until you remove the key.
Door ajar on front passenger door and interior lights and exterior lights staying on and not being able to automatic locking mechanism after you start driving or being able to lock the car when you park said vehicle. was told by dealer ford is notorious for the ford 2011 edge 3.5l v6 electrical-switch & relay door open warning relay was major problem with this vehicle . and it will keep the computer open and will drain the battery quickly causing the vehicle to die on the roadside after over 1500 complaint to ford company they stated not enough complaint .....this is a safety issue if you have children they can open a unlocked door what more proof do you need ford not to recall this issue and fix it !!
The emergency flashers turn on at anytime including when the vehicle is not running. the only way to turn off is to disconnect wire. we have car in to garage and they had never heard of this happening before!! they 1st said would cost up to $600 but they didn't know what problem was now they are saying a module has to be replaced and will cost over $1100. i did see on line where there was a recall that stated the module had to be replaced to correct electrical problem, and ford would take care of it. i don't feel i should be billed for this since they know there is an electrical issue and module is only fix. the car does not have to be in motion for this to happen it has happened even when the car is parked!!
Passenger door ajar light remains on at all speeds and stationary. safety of myself and children are in jepardy because my car no longer locks. we will be trading this vehicle in. safety isn't something you risk. extremely upsetting. with alll of the issues posted that ford hasn't sent a recall on this.
Faulty door ajar switch - replaced door ajar switch in driver door at 39,500 and again 91,000 miles. rear driver side door has produced the same issue and is now consistent for 1 month.
When i shut my driver door the light comes on the dashboard saying "driver door ajar". i have to keep shutting/slamming the door to clear alarm. at most it will not go off. when i start to drive with all the doors closed all doors should lock and they don't because the door is open. i have two young children and i don't think it's safe. when i hit my key to lock the doors after i get out my interior lights stay on which is causing low battery! this needs to be fixed! for you to provide vehicles to the world safety is a must and their are so many others out there that has this problem why be so slow to correct it!!
On 5/20/17 we noticed the door ajar light was on and interior dome light stayed on while driving. stopped the car, opened and closed each door, sometimes several times and seemed to be the driver's side back door. lights all finally went off. the next day the issue returned - dome light remained on for 1.5 days and door ajar light was also on. the night of 5/22 my husband directed my son to try something with the door latch on that door and that got the lights to go off again. it's dangerous to drive the car at night when the interior lights won't go off not to mention that this will cause battery drainage.
Door ajar light says on while driving - doors will not lock and interior light stays on in park started at 36,000 miles
Front driver side door switch does not operate properly causing false indication that door is not closed. warning indicator can be overridden but this can cause a potential hazard if driver routinely ignores indicator and the door is not actually latched. based on my on line search this is a common problem with this model. i consider this a serious safety issue. this issue should be investigated for a potential recall. this condition exists while the car is stationary or in motion.
Door open signal stays on and doesn't allow interior to turn off. alarm will go off every 2 hours. door ajar signal remains on regardless of car is moving or off in park. interior light stays on after car is off.
Door ajar warning light stays on when the door is closed. this causes to interior dome light to stay on when driving down the road. this is a safety issue. driving after dark with the dome light staying on interferes with the drivers ability to see out and decreases the driver's vision of the road ahead.
The drivers side door latch does not catch. this causes the "drivers door ajar" warning. this also causes the lights to no turn off when the car is parked and turned off. this resulting the battery being drained. when battery is drained the car won't start and can leave the driver stranded.
I have a 2011 ford edge 2nd yr the door ajar light stays on which keeps all the interior lights on and draining the battery. i've had the sensor replaced once but it started again 6 months later. the dealer aside i need to replace them all at 400 dollars a door i've replaced the battery twice at 230 dollars each because the speedometer reads 60mph when the car is sitting still has to be fixed and the my key needs to be reprogrammed. it's a hazard at night because the dome lights stay on while trying to drive. and the dead battery has left me and my family stranded twice. .
The passenger door is showing on panel as "door ajar" even though it is closed. it will not lock and the dome light will not shut off therefore draining my battery too.
Door ajar switch not working properly
The rear driver-side door indicator switch has become unreliable. it now indicates the rear driver-side door is open a majority of the time. because the car thinks the door is not closed, interior lights do not dim reliably and the doors no longer lock reliably. i don't get the option to do so until the car is well under way.
When the drivers door is shut the door ajar warning stays on and the interior light stays on.
Driver door is latched but dome light remains on. door ajar warning light stays on. will not shut off , have to shut door multiple times until door ajar light and dome lights turn off. turns on randomly even while in driving gear. light will even stay on when vehicle is off . which if not caught might drain the battery. this has happened multiple times in a day . to every day. even at night time which caused it hard to drive.
The door ajar warning lights stays on. this results in the dome light staying on while driving for a short period of time or after the car is off. drained the battery once. also, the door can not be locked. on a much more serious note, the dome light suddenly come on while i'm driving on the highway. this creates a very dangerous situation because i'm unable to see cars around me very well. i went to the ford dealership in feb, 2015 and fixed it once. however, this happens again recently. i really think ford should address this issue! *tr
The door ajar light stays on even when the doors are closed. this then drains battery and leaves driver stranded. it also keeps the interior lights from shutting down because the system thinks the door is ajar. it doesn't matter if the car is running or not this happens.
I bought this car 2015 in the late winter. from the time i bought it the drivers door sensor would say its ajar. according to the dealer it would be about $1000 to fix. tonight my auto door unlock doesn't work and neither does the key unlock the door. i'm stranded 30 miles from home. this is totally unacceptable. i will be letting anyone who asks to be extremely cautious about any ford products.
The door ajar light stays on when all doors are closed and the interior lights stay on. also i was not able to open the car with the security code from the outside the car i had to use the key. i was park when i first notice the passcode was not working then i used the key i closed all the doors and still said one door was open, so i make sure all were close. i realize there was something wrong so i just drove the car like that. also i just bought the car so i don't know if that has happened before.
My passenger door indicates that when closed that it is not. the dome light stays on and so does the dash indicator. it has also done it while driving down the road. creepy, since i'm disabled and have hands controls to drive. so i have to pull over and reclose the door. plus once the lights come on i can't see while driving at night. *tr
Door ajar warning light on dash after closing doors repeatedly. dome lights remain on and drain battery lfe.
My problem is with a 2011 ford edge. the door ajar light stays on all the time. the dome lights inside the vehicle will not go out and is hazardous when driving at night. the dome lights stay on while driving. i had to replace my battery and now i am afraid my new battery will run down and leave me stranded away from home. *tr
Door ajar signal stays on when door is closed interior light stay on when door is closed inability to lock doors faulty latch
Door ajar issue. already killed one battery. also is a safety issue. i've had to drive several times when it's dark out and the lights inside the vehicle will not shut off. not going to pay almost 500 dollars to have this fixed when i hear of tons of people fixing it, for the issue to come right back with a new part.
Door ajar light remains on the passenger side door. this causes car doors to stay unlocked, dome lights to stay on, draining my battery, unable to use the auto car start. dangerous for my small children who can now open the door while i am driving
Passenger door ajar warning when door appears to be closed tightly. automatic locks will not engage while in drive because warning light indicates passenger door is ajar. additionally, interior lights remain on when in drive due to passenger door ajar warning which presents a significant hazard when driving at night. problem has gotten progressively worse with time. battery car had to be replaced because interior lights would remain on all night. opening and re-shutting door is inconsistent fix. wd-40 not effective. not using passenger door once warning light turns off is the only sure way to keep door closed. passenger door ajar warning light remains on when car is in motion or stopped whenever key is in ignition. when car is off and key is out, interior lights remain on indefinitely, car is only able to be locked when car is off and key is out of ignition.
The latch door ajar sensor is not working properly and cannot recognize when the door is closed. this results in me being unable to lock my door and it leaves the dome lights on until it times out.
Done lights will not go off. driver side back door shoes to be open when it is closed.
Door ajar warning message on while driving or parked. causes interior lights to stay on 10 minutes before turning off when parked. interior lights will turn on and alarm horn will sound intermittently when parked. i pulled the fuse for the horn relay, don't know when it will sound. i feel it's unsafe to drive without a horn. while driving doors do not lock in fact they unlock after locking them with lock switch. *tr
Door ajar light stays on. not sure if door is opened or closed driver side.. worried that the door will open while driving. battery has died in the car already because the interior lights stay on. *tr
Door ajar warning light does not go off when all doors are closed...the interior dome lights remain on and does not turn off until vehicle is in drive and has moved more than about 250 feet. it is extremely dangerous at night time especially when a lit dome light makes it very difficult to see out of the vehicle. this weekend the battery died as a direct cause of this issue! ford just issued a recall for 1.5 million defective vehicles and this year needs to be added asap. i refuse to pay for something out of pocket that the manufacture should be held responsible for...please help!
My driver side door indicator came on and at first it would take me a few times shutting the door for it come off. now its to the point where it does not turn off and keeps the interior lights on until i drive forward a bit, then turn off. that's not good at night for sure. now when my car is locked the panic alarm goes off all times of the day and night. i was driving down my driveway (thank goodness) one night and the lights turned on and the car started dinging for the door. why is this something that is not recalled??? it is dangerous for the light to stay on at night and especially if my door really isn't latched. i don't see why i should have to pay something out of pocket that i didn't break or have control over breaking. please help fix this........ *tr
Door ajar lights staying on and will not go off when door is closed! they go on and off while driving down the road. can't lock the doors, alarm will not set, interior lights stay on and run battery down constantly.
The 'door ajar' warning light on my 2011 edge periodically comes on and stays on. the warning indicates that various doors are open. sometimes it's the driver door; other times it's the left passenger door or the back gate. each time the doors were closed properly, however the sensor thinks that the doors are open. this malfunction causes the interior dome lights and the exterior lights on the side mirrors to remain on, which drains the battery. originally, i thought this issue was a problem specific to my vehicle. however, in an attempt to understand the problem, i conducted an internet search and discovered that the 'door ajar' warning is a common and well known problem with ford products including the edge. this problem is not a result of use or wear and tear of the vehicle; it clearly is a mechanical /engineering flaw with the vehicle. i feel that this situation is a safety issues and should be corrected by ford motor company. on september 19, 2016, i sent an email to the ford motor company customer relationship center (crc), explaining the problem and seeking help. i was assigned a case number (cas-10612005-p1f4g7) and was told to contact a local dealer to diagnosis the problem. on september 27, 2016, a service department representative from beau townsend ford informed me that the problem was with the door latch and the cost to repair is approximately $385.00 per latch. he also informed me that ford motor company would not pay for the repair.next, i called the crc to appeal the decision.i was told that the problem was not a recall item and that ford would not repair the vehicle. i was also told that i had no further recourse regarding this issue.
