Traveling at 55mph, lost thrttle control, yellow wrench icon appeared. was able to pull over. engine was still running. turned off engine, and resarted. everything was normal on way back home. car still parked, haven't been to dealer shop yet.
While driving at approx. 45 mph, the awd off light appeared, than a wrench appeared. i could no longer accelerate and coasted over to the side of the road. i turned my car off. i restarted my car and continued driving. i am glad i wasn't on a business road and was able to get to the side of the road safely. i hope somebody doesn't have to die before they acknowledge this issue.
Driving to work about ten miles of highway, my car started running rough and shaking. i was able to coast into a parking lot then my heater stopped working a warning light came on "engine coolant temp" then it died completely in a matter of seconds, i saw some smoke under the hood so i called for help. there was no other warning whatsoever! the mechanic told us that the water pump had gone out and caused the engine to over heat. it shot coolant into the engine and it was totaled. again there was absolutely no warning at all. no sensors no anything. i maintain my vehicle with regular oil changes etc. and if there had been any warning light i would have taken it to my mechanic immediately.
Twice while driving the vehicle over 50 mph, on a main road, it lost power and the wrench light turned on. the vehicle coasted to a stop and after a few minutes was able to be restarted.
The engine died, as i was driving the car down the interstate. the steering wheel locked as i tried to exit and my car drifted into oncoming traffic. fortunately there was no accident but when i was finally able to get the car to the side of the road it was severely smoking and i had to get myself and my daughter out of the car immediately. also, the head gaskets and radiator blew and now there is a major electrical problem with the car the service department could not diagnose after 5 hours of investigating.
(on multiple occasions )my 2011 ford edge upon accleration the vehicle loses the abiltiy to acclerate - shudders and the check engine flashes or stays on. supposedly could not find the "code" that caused it. i have had the vehicle into 2 different dealer ships - one replaced the transfer case, the other the catalytic converter and ignition coils- to the cost of over 600.00 on a used certified vehicle. less than a few days later same issue - back to dealer said it was a loose wire. i now drive the vehicle very tentatively and hope i don't have to accelerate quickly.the vehicle persists in the ability to not acclerate quickly ( usually at 55 mph or higher )without the engine light flashing or staying on. it also seems to happen most frequently on quick accleration --on ramp or getting up to freeway speed . it is very dangerous as this usually happens getting on or off the freeway or staying up with traffic, once the light goes on the vehicle shudders and will not accelerate today it will be 3 months first visit was oct 29 mileage was 68000 and has happened up to today multiple times and mileage is now 74000 the check engine light is on again back to ford dealer again tomorrow.
While driving the powertrain error code (wrench icon) pops up and my cars loses all acceleration. i'm forced to try to get to the shoulder of the road while coasting and then once stopped if i take my key out and reinsert and start the car everything is fine. ford dealer cannot find any errors with the vehicle and this has happened multiple times. this is a major safety concern to unexpectedly lose all engine power while at high speed on freeways or even side roads without a shoulder. there are lots of people with the same issue posting the same problems.
Vehicle failed nj state inspection twice for "not ready" conditions. there's a known issue recall 13e04 - pcm configuration error with computer issue dtc p160a reoccurring and our vin is not covered under this first recall although every issue is the same as vin specific recalls
I left my house in the morning on 11/6 and after a short drive the "awd off" and a "little wrench" light came on and the car lost power and just stopped in the middle of the street since i was trying to go up a hill. thankfully no one was behind me!! it started to run very rough so i turned it off quickly, waited a few seconds and restarted it. the car then ran ok and got me to work and home again but when my husband took it to run an errand that night, same thing happened to him and then again this morning when i was bringing the car down for service. this was three times in one day! with no warning the car just loses power and stops. very dangerous!! i'm afraid to drive my car now and i don't want to be on the highway and have this happen - someone is going to get hurt. the dealer cannot duplicate the problem or find a code coming up to reveal the issue.
While driving the car will suddenly lose power ( not accelerate ). the wrench light will come on. you must try to safely coast to side of road and turn ignition off and restart. this happens intermittently and is very dangerous in heavy traffic and at higher speeds. this has occurred on interstate highway and city driving. dangerous also when there is not enough room to pull off road safely. we have taken car to ford dealership but they cannot find problem. we have noted on the internet that a lot of other ford edge drivers are also having this issue. i would think that ford motor company would be aware of this problem. i would hope that this issue will be addressed before someone is seriously injured or killed. this has happened 6 times from 11/30/2015. it also happened over a year ago 4-5 times and ford could not find problem. thank you *tr
Was driving down highway and the powertrain malfunction warning came on. i was unable to drive the car just shutdown.
My husband and i were driving home (going approximately 40 mph) with our 2 year old and all of the sudden the car lost power. it did not die but wouldn't go over 5 mph. thankfully, we were close to home and not on a busy highway. if we had been on a busy highway i do believe it would have cause an accident and that terrifies me since this is our primary family vehicle. i have read that ford extended the warranty for this issue but was not made to issue a recall. unfortunately, ford inc's "customer satisfaction program" for this issue expired in january 2015 so now i will be out the money to fix this extremely dangerous issue. ford motor company should be made to issue a recall to fix this issue before it kills someone.
This is the second report i have made about this issue. the first was on/about set. 26, 2015. when i was driving, the car in motion, the power train malfunction indicator (a wrench) comes on, the car loses all power, goes down to perhaps 2 miles per hour, and then stops. it feels as though the power steering also goes out. when the car stops, it shakes and jerks. you cannot accelerate. i turn the motor off and then on, "resetting" the indicator (per the ford dealership). and the issue stops. it has happened again today, oct. 23rd. twice (in the morning and again this afternoon). i called sam galloway ford in fort myers, fl and was told to bring it in on nov. 4th. again, today is oct. 23. i was told, by danielle (service advisor), that "since it is not happening all the time it was fine to wait" until nov. 4, 2015. i am afraid to drive this car this is a safety issue for me, anyone i have in the car, and other drivers. are you going to wait until someone gets killed because of this issue? i am on busy roads when this happens. why don't you do something????
While driving on interstate the vehicle all of a sudden stalled. the engine was still on and running but while depressing the accelerator there was no response. was forced to carefully pull off to the side of the road. turned the vehicle off and restarted the vehicle. the vehicle started with no problem. this was a scary situation no one should have to go through. the vehicle was checked out by 2 mechanics and they could not diagnose a problem. checked with ford and was no told there were no recalls, after i explained my situation. after researching the internet i realized others were having similar problems. throttle body housing issues were described repeatedly. at my expense had the throttle body housing assembly removed and replaced. this is a very serious situation that needs addressing by ford motor company. as a retired houston firefighter i saw my share of horrible injuries as a result of motor vehicle accidents. the car in question belongs to my daughter and it is her first. if anything were to happen to her my family would be crushed. i am seeking some answers to why ford has not done something about this major problem. this is a major problem that not only needs addressing but needs to be resolved before someone is affected in a tragic way.
My car will cut off randomly while driving down a city street at around 40 miles per hour. it has also happened while in a drive through while idling with foot on brake.
While driving the engine stalls, running only in a rough idle. the awd off warning light comes on along with a warning light showing a wrench icon. the vehicle will only move 1 - 2 miles per hour, which is very dangerous in traffic or at an intersection! this happens at different speeds in city driving (i feel it is too dangerous to drive at fast highway speeds and no longer feel safe in this vehicle!) i understand other ford vehicles having this same problem are named in a customer satisfaction program, and the problem is a faulty throttle body that is replaced.
Last week, while my wife was driving our 2011 ford edge sport with 41,000 miles at 65mph on a busy chicago highway, the message center pinged, "awd off" message appeared, then a picture of a wrench appeared. the car then lost all power, including steering. luckily, she was able to coast to the shoulder without causing a major accident and turn the car off. after a couple of minutes, she started the car and all appeared fine. not being sure of what just happened, we took the car to the ford dealership for inspection. $200.00 later, they told us that a brake pedal connector was loose and that was most likely the cause. a week later the exact same thing happened, again while she was traveling on a busy chicago area highway at 65mph. after pulling over, turning the car off, and calming herself down, she started driving to get off of the highway. after about 10 minutes it happened again. this time she pulled over and called me. i met her and i drove the car to the ford dealership. while i was driving, it happened three more times. however, i noticed that it appeared that if i kept the car under 40mph, it would run without recurrence. when i arrived at the ford dealership, they were able to read the computer code. this time they told me it was code p2111 and that the throttle body actuator control was stuck open and that the throttle body and motor assembly needed to be replaced. $800.00 later, the repairs were completed. the evening we dropped the car off at the dealership, while doing some research on the internet, i learned that this appears to be a known issue with a "customer satisfaction program" to address being put in place. unfortunately, my ford dealership service advisor told me that they knew nothing of this when we picked the car up the next day. having been through this, i can say i am quite surprised there are no deaths associated with this dangerous issue.
Driving on i-40 in asheville nc at 65 mph when engine light with wrench came on -no power able to get off rd-waited 5 min restarted car ok -another 5 miles same thing wrench light on car no power-able to restart-does 2 more times before getting home-check engine light on-hope ford can help
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. while driving 35-40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the contact stated that the failure occurred twice. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 28,000.
While driving at approximately 35 mph, the power train warning light illuminated (the wrench light) appeared. the engine then began to sputter and stalled. everything still working but when you pushed the gas no paower. maneuvered off the road and was able to restart the engine. worked properly after restarting. concerned it will do it again in traffic.
On 9/9 i left orange beach al to drive home to jonesboro ar with my 2011 ford edge - it quit on me at least 45 times. i went to 2 ford dealers, one mechanic on the road. first ford dealer had no clue how to fix it and told me to leave 3 or 4 days. next ford dealer wanted 1500.00 4 hours and maybe more. so i kept driving since part costs 184.00. when driving the car just shuts off. no power steering, now brakes no nothing. if i could i got to the side of the road and turned on my flashers. i waited a few minutes and cranked it back up. several times on the one lane road headed into hattiesburg i almost got rear ended by 18 wheelers and no side area to pull over - my car just quit - stopped and i stopped. i got to jackson 6 lane road 5:00 p.m rush hour and my car quit 6 times and i almost got hit there several times. my wrench icon comes on, my oil light came on, my engine light is on now also. the car abruptly stops - this is very dangerous - my husband got a car hauler and headed toward me and met me out of jackson. once, it stopped to abruptly that my dogs hit the dashboard in the front seat and were so scared. they were in the backseat. i have grandchildren that ride with me - so can you imagine the issues that could happen when this car just shuts off. this is a severe problem that ford needs to address this and so does safercar.gov. i called ford today and they all but laughed at me and said i needed to get a new throttle body installed and pay for it that the 2011 ford edge was not included in the consumer satisfaction program 13n03 that i found on a website. this is a very dangerous problem that ford needs to address immediately. i could have died yesterday trying to get home - did ford care no - they will when someone dies.
Engine stalls, changes to limp home mode. this can happen during acceleration or at speed. the error wrench lights. this has resulted in an unsafe deceleration in traffic. dealer finds no code in the system. engine will run fine after shutdown and restart. the incidents occur on surface streets, intersections, and at highway speed. the ford case number is case number cas7831451v2q4h3. no satisfaction from ford at this time.
At 4 separate times my vehicle suddenly and without warning had a total loss of power at highway speeds during rush hour traffic. i was forced to coast to the right side of the road and on to the shoulder with other vehicles all around me going 70 mph. i stopped the vehicle and restarted it. it hesitated, but did start again, and then drove fine 10 minutes before doing the exact same thing again! i took it to the ford dealership and they person at the desk knew what it was right away without even looking at the car: the throttle body. this is apparently a very common problem with these vehicles, and ford has already issued an extended warranty for other cars with a similar problem. for the edge, however, i am being forced to pay $600 to repair it or risk my life by continuing to drive it as it is. ford knows about this problem. they have even redesigned the part. they should be forced to recall the part before somebody gets hurt (or worse) because of their mistake!
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and the wrench indicator illuminated. the contact stated that the vehicle was able to restart; however, the failure recurred approximately 10 miles down the road. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 47,000.
While driving on interstate 75 in kentucky, my 2011 ford edge lost power, with violent shuddering and no acceleration. managed to move from the middle lane to the emergency lane. shut off edge and restarted, everything returned to normal. today, aug, 12 the exact same occurance happened again, other than speed all conditions were the same. ford dealer said it could possibly be the throttle body but could not diagnose until it happens again and vehicle is not shut off and taken directly to them. this is an extremely unsafe incident to have happen on the interstate at 70 mph, this should be a recall.
About 2-3 weeks ago, while driving in the outer banks, nc, i had a sudden loss of power in the vehicle and an yellow wrench sign came. luckily, i was able to pull off the road and shut the car off. once restarted, it worked ok. i went to cavalier ford dealer at portsmouth, va and they could not find anything wrong. since there was no recall or mention of this problem from ford, i was told not to worry about it. today, while driving with my wife and daughter, i had complete loss of power with the yellow wrench sign again. i had to pull on the wrong side of the road with hazard lights on. again, we were lucky that we did not get hit. when restarted, i was able to drive back home and take my wife's car. i am taking the ford edge to the dealer again. i am letting you know that, when i googled for similar problems, there were plenty of complaints on this model vehicle. you can find these reports on the link below: http://www.arfc.org/complaints/2011/ford/edge/power_train/problem.aspx..updated08\25\15 *bf updated 12/1/2015*js
Vehicle lost power while entering freeway. wrench light came on, engine was shuddering baldy. engine had just been started after sitting for 90 minutes. had to limp across two lanes of traffic to get to the median. engine had to be shut down and restarted after two minutes. could have caused a bad collision.i do not trust this car. it is dangerous.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. while driving at an unknown speed, the awd and check engine warning lights illuminated. the vehicle failed to accelerate. the contact was able to maneuver to the emergency lane. the contact shut off the vehicle and was able to restart the engine, but the failure persisted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 33,800.
My wife was driving on a surface street with our infant boys in the back seat. without warning, the 2011 ford edge lost all power and the engine vibrated intensely. it could have caused a serious collision. she restarted the car and tried to make it home safely and slowly. it happened again on the way. the next day (7/20/15), when we drove the suv to the dealership, it happened a 3rd time. galpin ford (n hills, ca) diagnosed it with a faulty throttle body, not covered by our 7-year powertrain limited warranty. this is a certified preowned ford edge that we purchased a little over a year ago. throttle bodies should not fail with 45k miles on the car. and, it should be covered by the warranty, or better yet...it should be a recall. the loss of power is a dangerous problem that ford should take responsibility for. *tr
Certified pre-owned 2011 ford edge limited awd. purchased in nov. 2014. on monday, june 8, 2015 as i was driving at 55 mph, a light came on on the left hand side of the instrument panel. the light said "awd off" and had a little wrench symbol on it. the car abruptly lost power and i just coasted out of the way of traffic and onto the side of the road because there was no shoulder. i tried to press the gas pedal but nothing happened--there was no acceleration. my vehicle essentially "died" without warning in traffic. weather conditions were sunny about 85 degrees. the radio and ac worked, but the gas pedal did not. the vehicle sounded like it was going to stall out and was sputtering as i coasted. i put the vehicle in "park" and turned the vehicle off. i waited several minutes and restarted the vehicle. vehicle seemed to work ok and no warning lights came back on afterwards. i called the dealership and arranged for me to have my car inspected for the cause of this malfunction. i paid $111.30 for the vehicle to be hooked to a diagnostic machine but the dealership was unable to get any "codes" from a diagnostic reading nor could the dealer replicate the warning light to come on. on june 24, 2015 the same issue happened again. i took a photo of the light on the dash, sent it to dealership. third time happened on friday, july 10, 2015 and i was on the highway in the passing lane and had to coast across the slow lane to get out of the way of traffic so i wouldn't cause an accident. again, i took photos of the odometer and the "awd off" light and sent to dealership. dealership sys without a code from diagnostic machine, they can't tell what is wrong. fourth time happen last night, july 14, 2015. this is a huge issue as from researching on the internet, a lot of other ford edge owners experienced the same problem! please help! i feel like i'm getting no help!
The first time the problem occurred i was driving down a street and had slowed to make a left turn into a retail establishment. just as i made the turn the vehicle shuddered slightly and immediately lost forward momentum - it was like the vehicle was in neutral - i had no acceleration. a wrench appeared on my driver's display. i was able to pull to a stop and i shut the vehicle off. after several minutes i attempted to start the vehicle. it took several seconds longer than normal for the vehicle to start but it did. the second occurrence happened in my work parking lot. i had backed my vehicle out of my parking place and just as i started to accelerate the vehicle shuddered slightly and i again lost any acceleration. i turned the vehicle off and restarted immediately. again, it look slightly longer than normal for the vehicle to start. the third time i was driving 55 down a road when the vehicle suddenly lost momentum. same deal with limping to the side of the road, praying this time that nothing was coming as the vehicle was only half off the road. it started with effort. in each occurrence the wrench appeared. this has all happened over a period of 13 days. i contacted a local ford dealership saturday and described the problem over the phone. the mechanic said he was very familiar with the problem - that it was the throttle body. i decided to do some online research and discovered complaint after complaint describing the same problem. i'm very disappointed in ford for not making this problem more of a priority. does there need to be a loss of life before something is done? we will be driving several states away in just a few weeks and i have absolutely no confidence in my vehicle. i certainly don't want to be traveling 75 miles an hour on a freeway when my vehicle suddenly decides it doesn't want to cooperate. very, very disappointing. *tr
Our family was driving on a heavily traveled bridge at 40mph and the vehicle immediately lost all power and idled roughly, forcing us to travel on the bridge at just a few miles an hour with our four-way flashers on until we reached the side of the road. a wrench appeared on the computer screen with the message awd off. my husband turned the vehicle off and then back on and it ran fine until we drove it again and same thing happened. we are fearful for our safety and beg ford to recall. i visited several websites and saw way too many consumers with this same serious safety issue. we are going to get it evaluated by a mechanic tomorrow and pray that we are able to safely drive it to the garage.
Car stalled three times. power went off and i was almost rear ended. told it's the throttle accuator stuck open. error 2111, picture of wrench and now engine light on. even though i found this on your website fird refused to cover. may of the same complaints on all social media sites. ford gave me case number [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Car stalled twice. previous complaint filed but i called after finding recall number 10s14. claled ford and they told me not covering my vin even though situation is the exact same happenings. your rep told me to file a new complaint becasue he coud not update the one previously submitted; odi number 10715241. he stated that they would investiage and psossible add my vin to be covered under this recall.
On several occasions the vehicle lost all acceleration and power to the engine. yellow wrench showed there was a warning, and check engine light flashed, but upon turning off the car (the main electronics ie:radio/ac still worked) and restarting it resumed "normal" functions and driving. we had several times this happened to us. all of the occurrences happened in the middle of accelerating and at different speeds. two were on residential roads, one was in a busy intersection, and one (the worst) was on the freeway 3 lanes over from the right shoulder going with the flow of traffic at 70mph. the dealership was unsuccessful n assisting with the problem because without a check engine light they were unable to diagnose the problem. but our latest incident, on september 11th, 2015 (this time the wrench and awd off flashed), the check engine light stayed on and it was diagnosed as a bad throttle body. this is more than dangerous it is a russian roulette of whether the car will work or not. please take this situation seriously, there are many other people http://m.carcomplaints.com/ford/edge/2011/engine/engine.shtml complaining about the same year and model as my car, having the same exact issue. this should be put on recall immediately.
On april 11, 2015, the throttle body assembly on the engine of my 2011 ford edge failed while in heavy traffic at highway speed on a 6-lane highway. i was traveling in the inside lane when the failure occurred. there was no power to the engine, and i coasted quickly across 2 lanes to a right turn lane. fortunately, everyone reacted positively to my emergency flashers as i decelerated. on monday, april 13, the local ford dealership repaired the car. after returning home, i checked the internet for information on this failure mode and was surprised to read that ford had a couple years earlier settled a nhtsa complaint for several ford models that exhibited the problem my car experienced. the ford edge was not part of the settlement. further research revealed other ford edges with the same problem as mine. apparently, ford won a partial settlement on the throttle body issue. the failure mode is as dangerous as the general motors ignition switch failure. both the gm and ford failure modes result in the same manner ' complete loss of power and a hope to make it safely to stop. recognizing that others are having problems similar to me, shouldn't the nhtsa reexamine this ford problem. in my case i'm just thankful my wife wasn't driving the car. she was with me when the failure occurred and claimed she would not have known how to react. do you really want to wait until we have as many deaths as gm experienced with their ignition switch failure before acting? *tr
I was driving my 2011 ford edge on a busy road and lost all ability to accelerate. the engine jerked, then started shaking, wrench light came on the dash board. i would push the pedal and nothing would happen. had to roll along with flashers on until i reached a parking lot entry to pull into, as there was no shoulder on the road i was on. meanwhile, cars were speeding up behind me and passing my car into on coming traffic to avoid colliding with me. once in the parking lot, i turned off the car, and immediately turned it back on (less than two seconds later), and everything was back to normal. took the vehicle directly to the dealer and was told by their service technician that i needed a new throttle body and was no longer under warranty (vehicle had 57,000 miles). *tr
I was driving vehicle up a slight grade at 30mph. engine power suddenly dropped to an idle rpm. it felt like it was running on 1 cylinder and very rough. i was able to "creep" the car to the side of road. pressing on the accelerator in neutral or drive had no effect. a "wrench" warning icon appeared on the indicator panel. shutting off and restarting the car allowed us to drive home. this occurred two times within 2 miles. the car will be taken to the dealer today for repairs. this same scenario (less than 270 miles prior) occurred as my wife accelerated away from our home 3 weeks prior. the owners manual indicated it was an awd issue. my car does not have that feature.the car was taken to the dealer who indicated it was a transmission problem covered by a service bulletin and reprogrammed the transmission computer. prior to these engine incidents the car had acted odd when shifting, as though it popped in and out of gear. this is a safety concern and so far we have been lucky because it happened each time in low traffic conditions. *tr
Tl* the contact owned a 2011 ford edge. while driving approximately 5 mph into the driveway, there was smoke and flames erupting underneath the hood. in addition, there was smoke in the cabin. the fire department extinguished the fire. a police and a fire report were filed. the vehicle was destroyed. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 45,000. ...updated 04/08/15 *bf
My throttle body has gone out on my edge causing my car to completely stall out in rush hour traffic and on the highways. i have read forums about many warranty extensions that ford put on vehicles very similar to my own because of this issue but mine was not one of those. i'm now having to pay $800 to fix a problem that ford created!
I was driving and all of a sudden the vehicle started idling high and sputtering. then the check engine light came on. the engine just shut off. luckily there was no one behind me. i could have been rear-ended. this is third time this has happened. the first time it happened i took it to ford and they said there was no code to tell them what was wrong with it. they replace the throttle body sensor and check engine light was gone, but a few hours later it came back on and it stalled on me again. i wasted a couple of hundred dollars to end up right back where i was before with a very unsafe vehicle. if i could afford to get another vehicle, i would. i am afraid to drive this vehicle. something has to be done before someone is injured or killed. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. the contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. no repairs were made to the vehicle. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 53,435.
Engine stall, low oil pressure light comes on and loose steering control and brakes.....very unsafe and dangerous!! i am very unsatisfied with ford right now. i have several issues with this vehicle right now and am not happy!!!! *tr
During driving my 2011 ford edge the engine stalled without warning. the stall occurred at an approximate driving speed of 30 mph in the middle of the roadway. a light depicting a wrench shown on the instrument cluster display along with a message to consult manual. at the time this happened, i turned off the car and restarted it to see if i could get it going again before i got hit by a car. the car did start and then drove normally. i looked in the manual and found the wrench icon to indicate a powertrain defect. since this was a driving hazard, i had it towed to the dealer. the onboard computer was accessed and the code c-p2111 was diagnosed. i was told that this was a defective throttle body and that it would be replaced. a new part was installed and i have driven the car approximately 250 miles and it so far has not repeated the same stalling. it does not, however, maintain consistent rpms while idling. a couple of times they dipped down low enough that i thought the car was going to die at a traffic light. i took it back to the dealer and they said they could find nothing wrong. i disagree--i didn't have this problem prior to the installation of the throttle body. i am making this complaint because this issue is a severe problem that could cause someone to lose their life if the car stalled on the freeway. when it stalls, the car doesn't slowly coast along, it abruptly stops. this may be the same part that is in other ford vehicles for which a recall has been made, but so far there has been no bulletin on the ford edge for the throttle body defect. *tr
While driving through an intersection, vehicles stalled. "awd fail" light exhibited. turned off ignition and restarted. second event, same circumstances, again had to coast to side of intersection to restart. same indications. took to dealership and diagnosed as throttle body failure. had to be replaced. concerns: (1) safety (2) throttle body should not be failing with this few miles (3) ford forum indicates that this is a recurring issue with other ford edge vehicles. but there has been no recall or extended warranty. *tr
Car almost shuts down, you can drive it at 1 mph or restart & it works fine. engine light does come on. had it towed to dealership & they couldn't find anything wrong. we are both handicap, it's are only car & shuts off daily. dealership can not do anything unless we bring it, take a mechanic with us & it happens while he is in the car!! *tr
While merging onto freeway suddenly lost ability to accelerate. wrench icon came on dash display. was able to pull over to the side of the freeway. turned car off, turned back on and was able to drive the car normally again. i am hoping there is a fix for this problem as it was very dangerous. *tr
I began to accelerate at a intersection when my vehicle suddenly and without warning lost power to the wheels. the engine remained on but began to sputter. a yellow wrench appeared on the dashboard saying that the awd had turned off. i turned the engine off and it restarted with some difficulty. a few days later the same issue occurred again but now wont run more than a few hundred yards without recurring. *tr
I was driving 25 miles per hour on a major roadway and for no reason the car lost acceleration. the engine began to shake and gasp. after i lost power to the engine i could only drive one mile an hour to try to get off the road in heavy traffic. i did not get in an accident but it could have easily happened. a yellow warning wrench icon appeared. i turned off the car. i restarted the car and the problem resolved. i took it to a repair shop and they cleaned the throttle body because no error codes were found and it was dirty. it happened again one week later when i was traveling 50 miles per hour. i tried to drive to a dealership to keep the wrench icon on but the car stalled. i restarted and the problem resolved but i continued to a ford dealership. once again there was no code. i have researched this on the internet and it is happening to others as well. this is very dangerous and i am lucky it did not cause an accident. this should be recalled and repaired by ford. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 ford edge. while driving approximately 20 mph, the service engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle suddenly shook and vibrated violently. the vehicle operated normally once it was turned off and restarted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was 65,600.
