Brakes are making hissing noise and almost wrecked my edge due to not being able to push the brake pedal down. no warnings on dash. this needs to be a recall from ford to replace the brake boosters on all 2010 edges no matter the mileage. i know there is a tsb out for this to replace this part for 10 yrs or 150k miles, but needs to be extended as this is a major safety issue. can we say ford pinto part 2??

Vehicle has major abs problems witch also affects the traction control. vehicle randomly does not respond to braking at various speeds. ford needs to stand behind their product and fix this problem before someone gets hurt as a result. i bought this suv for my wife and kids it only has 100k. it shouldn't be having these issues.

Front brakes hiss and make singing squeal...do not depress fully then go all the way to the floor. almost hit 5 cars but each time steered off right and ended up mid intersection on a red light. heard it is a power booster issue. also air bags were recalled. dealer says no.

I had this car in a ford garage back in januarty i had to spend over $2000.00 because one of the engine coils burned up and damaged the computer for the engine. i was told the others should be replaced also, but could not fix it because of no money. and also the brakes, rotors calipers on front of this car are a mess. i had to replace every bit of it also. this cars sucks i hate it but /

Brake pedal became very hard when pushing brakes and would not slow vehicle for first couple of seconds and then only when pushing the pedal as hard as possible. this was accompanied by a hissing sound. ford dealer said the issue was a defective brake booster and a recall had been issued but was stopped with vehicles manufactured 3 weeks before mine. the symptoms described in the recall are exactly the same as what i experienced. the brake booster was replaced and corrected the problem. i feel this should have been part of the recall and reported as the issue came on unexpectedly and caused an extremely dangerous situation.

Brakes making irregular noise. private mechanic ( used to work for ford) checked them and reports the brake booster is bad. ford has a customer satisfaction program document 13n02 stating they have identified issues with the brake booster on certain edges prior to 2015. i have contacted ford with no luck. please make sure you are tracking this issue as it seems more vehicles are involved than they want to admit.

Brake booster had a vacuum leak. my car was outside the existing vin list for recalls and/or "customer satisfaction program". vacuum leak and stiff pedal was most evident at low speeds (near idle and at high vacuum conditions) ford would not replace my booster. i replaced it myself and found that the oem booster had rusted, where the master cylinder seal (square cross-section o-ring) met, causing the leak and poor braking at low speeds. master cylinder was in good condition, with no apparent leak - inside of booster was dry and clean. replacing both the master cylinder and the booster has cured the problem. problem was first noticed when parked - if my foot was on the brake, maintaining force, when i turned the ignition off, the vacuum immediately bled off of the brake booster, causing the pedal to rise and stiffen. inspection of the booster prior to replacement did not give any evidence of an obvious problem (that is, no hissing or leaking sounds were present) the problem became more apparent over time (over the past 18 months) and got to the point where i felt that i did not have sufficient braking power to stop the vehicle at lower speeds - thus, my decision to replace the booster and master cylinder. in the last few weeks, the leak must have been getting worse, because the pedal was getting harder and harder to push down, with pedal effort increasing as the vehicle speed dropped (like approaching a stop sign) i am strong enough to push hard - but a small or frail person encountering this problem may not be able to stop in time.

Brake booster failure

When vehicle brake pedal depresses it makes a hissing noise. can push straight to the floor or at other times is so tight you can barely press it. told by mechanic it's the brake booster and no recall as of yet. vehicle is very hard to stop if a situation presented itself to brake quickly it could not happen and may cause an accident.

A letter regarding nobody has to seat on the front passenger because of the airbag but how long still- its been years? we went to private company for the aircondition to be replaced since kengrody ford maintenance has not done us good not only expensive but did not work after the maintenance. this car is not a great car although its already been service a lot of times. thank you.

The traction control an abs light comes on for no reason an will not go off an have been told this has been happing with these cars

Brake pedal is soft, sometimes goes all the way to the floor and makes a hissing sound. some break function is lost. we had new brake pads and rotors, and the problem persists. our mechanic tells us that it is the brake booster. safety is now a great concern as it is now compromised. occurs when the vehicle is in motion, regardless of location on city street, highway, or turning.

Brake booster. i have a 2010 edge that had a recall on the brake booster. the ford website listed the recall for 2010-2013 but for some reason my vehicle wasn't part of the recall and i need to know why especially when it states that fsa vin list will not be activated for the service action. this was a very dangerous situation i was put in and i'm being told that the recall is not on my vin. my brakes made a "hissing" sound when pressed and to get the car to stop i had to press very hard with both feet. and this didn't happen over time. within a week my car went from braking normally to having to fight to stop my car.

On 12/11/17 my brakes were making a air sound when i touched peddle. at 47,000 miles i assumed it was time to replace. on 12/15 i had brakes replaced, but when i got the car back it still had the air sound. the brakes work but sometimes the peddle goes all the way down and catches at last minute. now i'm told ford edge has a problem with brake boosters and main cylinder. there hasn't been a recall yet, but i am sure people don't notify anyone about this problem. the garage just sent me on my way knowing the problem and also knowing the brakes could fail! i will be taking my vehicle to an authorized ford dealer to see what they can do. this is just to inform you of the serious problem which could cause accidents or even deaths.

Brake pedal at times feels spongy and goes to the floor, other times it is as hard as a brick and very difficult to stop. hissing sound is present and noticeable. unbelievably dangerous and i can't believe this isn't a safety recall. i have come close to rear ending people due to this flaw. 1st noticed this while driving and coming to a stop. had to really press hard to stop and it was unexpected and almost caused me to rear end the car in front of me.

Brake vacuum booster. i was told by my mechanic that my brake vacuum booster is going bad. i called ford and it is not covered under the current recall. my vehicle was built at the oakville assembly plant on march 26, 2010, a little over a month before the recall date perimeters of may 3, 2010 through march 28, 2013. when applying the brakes, there is a whistling noise under the dashboard, the brakes get rock hard and then sink to the floor.
