While sitting in the truck with the truck in park, but unlocked the tailgate came open. the tailgate hadn't been opened for at least 3.5 hours. when the tailgate suddenly fell open it hit the hitch on our enclosed trailer putting a dent in the tailgate. when we googled recalls there's a mention of a recall on 2015 - 2017 ram trucks due to an actuator malfunctioning and causing tailgates to come open. please advise if this is covered.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the copper wiring used in all four doors was faulty, which caused the door locks to malfunction and become unsecured. the vehicle was taken to jones ford wickenburg (555 e wickenburg way, wickenburg, az 85390, (844) 524-1981) where it was diagnosed that the wire harnesses needed to be repaired. in addition, while driving various speeds, a popping noise was heard from the front of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the upper and lower ball joints, wheel bearings, power steering gear box, pitman arm, and the steering stabilizer brace; however, the failure continued. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 178,000.
Body.rust starting around the top of both rear wheel wells engine ,water leaks from the water pump, not all the time ,but you never know when.usually after driving interstate for a couple hours
The passenger track bar mount and shock mount has fractures in the welds to the axle housing. the shock bracket underneath wear the bottom of the passenger shock bolts in is completely broken and the bottom of the shock is just floating with no stability. this is a factory weld and the 2013-2014s have the same issue but are the only ones with an official recall. it's been reported on many previous years and chrysler/dodge will not fix it. i am unable to take a picture of the the shock bolt as it is blocked by the track bar mount, but i did get the track bar mount clearly with the major fractures. there are more on the inner side of the passenger axle housing. this creates a major safety issue if it completely fails.
The tail gate is hard to open and hard to close. i have to keep pulling on the handle to try and get the latch mechanism to work. usually takes 5 or so try's before the tailgate will open, close or stay closed. sometimes the tail gate falls down while moving on a highway. the 4 wheel drive light does not come one the seat falls back if you put too much pressure on it in a backwards motion
all of a sudden my brakes failed could not steer correctly and i lost control of the truck slamming into an oncoming vehicle. it felt like i was steering to go straight and the steering wheel just turned on its own. now i have a $2800 bill to pay the body shop and i need to get my steering box replaced. i would like help with that. and most important i need these recalls done once i get my truck out of the body shop. my only request is that when i bring it in to the dealer i would like them to also fix my steering box at no charge.
I have a 2007 dodge ram 2500. i am experiencing the infamous "death wobble". when driving at normal speed for the road conditions the truck will violently shake after going over a bump. it has nearly caused me to wreck 3 times now. i live in a rural area of alaska so i have not been able to get to a shop yet. i contacted a dodge dealer in anchorage and they said that it is probably the stabilizer shock on the front end. i have read more about it online and am discovering that it's a severe issue. *tr
Several issues we are dealing with. first, this is one that the dealership/service, can't even get right. the "check engine" light will not come off. they say it's because of the gas cap, but we are aware how to put the gas cap on. also, we noticed yesterday that our paint is bubbling up on the hood and roof. this is very annoying, since our truck only has approx. 13,500 miles on it. also, this morning the "electronic throttle control" light came on, and we are not sure what is causing this. we looked in our truck manual, and cannot find anything on it. *tr
Traveling on a dirt road, our 2007 2500 dodge ram hit a three inch stump, (we were only going about 5 m.p.h.) resulting in bending the differential housing and subsequently releasing all the differential fluid. this caused the front axle to lock up on the highway. the truck skidded to the side of the road. our 1996 pathfinder navigated the aforementioned road several times and we never had any problems. all of the components that were housed in the front axle had to be replaced. we strongly feel that it is a design error, but chrysler refused to cover under manufacture warranty, citing driver error. (the truck is less than a year old) if my husband hadn't realized that there was fluid leaking after the 'minor bump', we would have wrecked going 70 m.p.h. on the highway. the dodge ram is touted as being built 'ram tough' but such a 'minor bump' could have cost us our lives had we not realized what had happened. chrysler should have a recall. *tr
