We have classified the 184 complaints from 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 about STEERING into the following categories.
Its about ball joint i visit two times the dealer and the technician say don't need replace i see a problem my direccion is vibrating i have a video how its look
Vehicle cuts often without any indication that anything is wrong. it does it any speed and there is no power steering, no brakes. this happened the first time at freeway speed and nearly caused a rear end collision because of the sudden and nearly uncontrollable stop.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the copper wiring used in all four doors was faulty, which caused the door locks to malfunction and become unsecured. the vehicle was taken to jones ford wickenburg (555 e wickenburg way, wickenburg, az 85390, (844) 524-1981) where it was diagnosed that the wire harnesses needed to be repaired. in addition, while driving various speeds, a popping noise was heard from the front of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the upper and lower ball joints, wheel bearings, power steering gear box, pitman arm, and the steering stabilizer brace; however, the failure continued. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 178,000.
I have a 2007 dodge ram 2500 power wagon with only 131k miles . as i was driving on the highway home from work at around 60 mph my whole front end started to shake like crazy and i almost lost control of the truck . i had to stop and pull off the road . looking under the truck i do not see anything that looks broken or damaged. so i went online and alot of people online had the same issue as i did . i was told they are open recalls for front end parts going bad on my truck year model . i called my local dealer the service tech was happy to help until i said recall issues on the front end on the truck then all of a sudden his data base system went down so he will have to call me back . all i need is just a answer on if there is a open recalll so that i can have it repaired . right now i am scared to move my truck .
Steering box has excessive play in steering wheel while driving straight down road...getting worse & worse by day
Vehicle intermittently and randomly shuts off at speed or stationary. has happened numerous times at busy intersections and on highway. power steering and braking power is lost.
Death wobble / as i was coming down on ramp to i-205 after leaving hannah dodge as speed reached 55 i hit a small bump in pave and truck shook so violently i had to hit brakes as vehicle pulled left then right to shoulder where i came to a stop. this first happened as i reached 164th and hwy. 14 at 64 mph and hit asphalt patch on overpass and was steering to the left lane when truck started shuddering violently and pulling to right as i hit brakes. luckily on both occasions no traffic was to my right or behind me or i'm sure an accident could have occurred.
The passenger track bar mount and shock mount has fractures in the welds to the axle housing. the shock bracket underneath wear the bottom of the passenger shock bolts in is completely broken and the bottom of the shock is just floating with no stability. this is a factory weld and the 2013-2014s have the same issue but are the only ones with an official recall. it's been reported on many previous years and chrysler/dodge will not fix it. i am unable to take a picture of the the shock bolt as it is blocked by the track bar mount, but i did get the track bar mount clearly with the major fractures. there are more on the inner side of the passenger axle housing. this creates a major safety issue if it completely fails.
My 2007 dodge 2500 truck with a 5.9 diesel has experienced, what has been widely known as, death wobble. i would describe this as an uncontrollable loss of control when going over a bump or (more especially) an uneven change in the roadway like when going over overpasses or bridges. this is prevalent on the highway at speeds of 60 mph plus. my truck currently only has 70,000 miles and has been impeccably maintained. the entire truck and steering shakes and the only way to stay alive is to brake heavily until it stops, usually at 30 to 40 mph. this is not safe in any way, but especially on the highway. the truck has had this issue for years and happens without warning. i took the truck to my dealership and they said off the record, "sorry, we know it happens, but we have no solution." death wobble...everyone knows about it. not gonna fix it. hhmmmmm.
Front end of truck has problem steering it wants to go both ways it seems at once so when you hit a bump it tries to correct it to pull to the opposite ways. it's alarming. when your driving at any speed
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. while driving 25-30 mph, the tie rod failed and the vehicle crashed into a ditch. there were no warning indicators illuminated. there were no injuries and a police report was not filed. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 124,331.
During highway driving 60mph my truck developed "death wobble" the steering wheel was shaking violently side to side, i was unable to gain control until the truck was below 15mph. this happened several occasions thereafter anywhere from 40-65mph. i took the truck to the dealership, which determined everything was fine as far as recall concerns go, i explained that there was something wrong weather it was recall or not, and i wish to have it fixed. they expressed the truck was fine and refused to look further into it. there was a recall on the front end steering linkage which they also stated was not a problem. the "death wobble" returned on several occasions until from 12-4-17 to about 2-10-2017 when it caused me to leave the road pulling a trailer nearly crashing into a bridge support. after giving up on the dealer i investigated myself and found that the front end traction bar link was bad, this allowed the axle to move side to side. with the steering mounted to the frame, and the axle moving this caused the steering drag link to violently push/pull on the steering causing the potential deadly condition essentially the steering was steering left and right without my control. after replacing the traction bar and front end linkage the truck performed as it should with no further issues, this is a problem that is extremely common among ram owners of 2002-20010 trucks. check out "dodge ram death wobble" on youtube it is a problem that dodge ignores, and when reported isn't aware on how to fix. it occurred on all road types and usually started at a bump or pot hole. here's a link of many with the exact same problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnxs7x55d9c&feature=youtu.be
Driving about 65 mph hit a bump on interstate and truck shook violently and almost hit concrete wall. had track bar bushings replaced that was supposed to be the fix just to have the same thing happen again two weeks later taking me off the interstate once again. not sure what to have done next before it kills me or someone else!
I have been having a problem that is know as (the death wobble ) when driving at 50 miles per hour or higher when hitting a bump in the road the truck vibrates so bad the you have a hard time controlling it.this has been happening since 2014. i have changed numerous parts in the steering to solve this problem to no avail. when will there be a recall on this issue before someone is killed.
My truck started shaking uncontollable after hitting a pot hole on instate at 75 miles hour, it has done this 3 times since, i have it in shop now but they dont want to pay for it , i have life time warranty on this vehicle, it shuck me all over the road, very scarey with my daughter and grandson in vehicle, im told its the death wobble, i need help please.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle shook uncontrollably. the contact mentioned that the steering wheel was difficult to turn. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was unable to be diagnosed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the diagnosis was unknown. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 109,000.
Two years ago, while driving at low speed on a city street, the right tie-rod ball joint broke and the tie rod dropped and wedged into the right front tire. brought me to an abrupt stop and swerved the truck into the curb. at the time, i was not aware of a recall. i fixed it. since then, the front transmission blew up. i replaced the whole front end. the right tie-rod broke on the new front end. i fixed it again. the other day, the right wheel bearing seized and the brakes failed. i was travelling at 65 mph towing a flatbed trailer. bringing it to a stop provided me with some maalox moments. i've had enough and am getting rid of this truck before it kills me.
Between 65 mph and 75 mph, there is a "speed wobble" which in april 2015 caused the right front tire to explode and shred (damaging the right front wheel well and ripping out the abs harness). feb 2016 this "speed wobble" which has been present since purchase (sept 2014) has finally caused the steering box to be faulty through the rapid back and forth action of the pitman arm via lower steering linkage. thus causing the steering box to rapidly leak fluid which reduces power steering capability to zero, and causes hydro-assist braking to have zero functionality. if the power steering fluid reservoir is not filled every 30 min of drive-time, all functionality of the power steering and hydro-assist braking is lost. this "speed wobble" is a known issue with the style of steering linkage that is installed oem on 2003-2008 ram 2500/3500 my's, which is neither acceptable nor sustainable.
If we hit a small defect in the road, the truck begins shaking violently and becomes hard to steer until we have significantly reduced speed. this happens on any road surface and has occurred on interstate hi-ways at legal speeds of 80 mph before., fortunately in light traffic that day.this could cause a severe accident if it happens at the wrong time and place. problems was at first occasional and has become much more frequent. we use this truck to haul a heavy, loaded horse trailer. or did, but now don't feel safe doing so.
In motion on hwy at 55-60 mph coming out of a right turn. right side tires entered a dip in the road and heard a metal bang sound. truck began to rock from side to side, up and down violently causing loss of steering control while the whole family screams. braking made it worse. coasting to below 50 mph corrected the rocking. found the electronic sway bar hanging loose below truck. suspension bracket for sway bar was broken at rear bolt location and bent down. dealership states left front ball joints need replacing also and may have contributed to loss of control. dealership said nothing is covered under previous recalls 11v350000 or 13v528000. $3400. estimate.
Driving about 70 mph straight on a highway. hit a small bump in the road. my truck started shaking violently . had to slow down to keep control of my truck and make a complete stop to stop it from shaking.
At speed over 50 on a interstate highway hitting an expansion joint, bumps or uneven pavement while changing a lane on 2 lane state roadway to pass car (no bumps) truck went into violent front end shaking. created unsafe passing situation while trying to get truck under control. truck is a diesel with 72,000 well cared for miles. when speaking with a chrysler ram tough ?? (my a--)truck dealer , they knew nothing about a "death wobble" . front end replaced except for steering box with front end alignment.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. while driving 30 mph, the passenger side tie rod fractured. the contact swerved to the side of the road and was able to come to a stop. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was awaiting repairs on the driver side tie rod. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 209,519.
2000 miles ago as i was driving down the freeway the truck began to pull to the right and handled as if there was some broken linkage or steering box was failing. after inspecting and not finding anything wrong, i continued my trek home and couldn't comfortably go above 30 mph, it almost felt like half of the front axle was locked in 4wd. searched online and saw that seized rear brake calipers are not uncommon so i replaced the rotors, calipers, and pads. made several short trips and thought it was resolved. during a 1 hour drive the problem returned and i was unable to control vehicle and stopped to inspect. the brakes were not hot but the rear axle was binding badly, i limped the truck home, afraid to drive it again. as i have been doing research on the problem, the internet forums revealed many peoples stories about dodge ram axles "locking/seizing" while driving down the freeway causing accidents and roll-overs. just thought you might want to look into it. thanks, signed an immaculately cared for and broken dodge ram :( update 9/15/15*cw after replacing the rear calipers, pads and rotors the problem persisted. pulled rear differential cover and inspected ring gear, pinion, spider gears and bearings. everything is good. finally after replacing all the rear brakes lines the problem was solved. updated 09/29.15*jb
This is reoccurring. dodge has termed it the "death wobble" we bought the truck from a dodge dealer in 2009 with 17,000 miles on it. it started doing this within days of purchase. the dealership attempted to fix the problem with no resolve it is happening again. i feel they used faulty parts in 2010 when they attempted to fix it. a number of recalls concerning this issue have not been issued to us or resolved by the dealership. recall numbers performed are h46. three recalls not resolved (attempted but not done) l16, n62, and r25. researching this issue informed me that their are pending class action law suits for these recalls on my make and model. i am needing feedback on what to do with our truck. it is my main work truck and i have a family with 4 kids who ride with me at times. it is very very dangerous. the "death wobble" is just that. it scares you to death. it is so sever that it bounces the truck into oncoming traffic lanes or the median. if it would happen in a curve a wreck would be unavoidable. i race cars and can barely maintain control. the driver looses complete control of steering and has to break hard to gain contact to the road. until an extremely slow speed is obtained, no control can be maintained.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel seized without warning. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v528000 (steering). the failure mileage was approximately 113,000.
all of a sudden my brakes failed could not steer correctly and i lost control of the truck slamming into an oncoming vehicle. it felt like i was steering to go straight and the steering wheel just turned on its own. now i have a $2800 bill to pay the body shop and i need to get my steering box replaced. i would like help with that. and most important i need these recalls done once i get my truck out of the body shop. my only request is that when i bring it in to the dealer i would like them to also fix my steering box at no charge.
Death wobble/ happened 3x once pulling a trailer/ dodge dealer told me no recall on mine. to avoid getting in an accident i paid a professional dodge mechanic out of pocket over $1000.00 to rebuild complete front end, all components. still happened so he resorted to an xtra heavy duty after market steering stabilizer called a rancho. then put a new steering gear box on and a new set of michelin tires and it hasn't occurred since. however i'm out of pocket about $2500.00. not a word from chrysler or a dime in restitution. do i have any recourse now that i've discovered this agreement with ntsba & fiatchrysler. a word from chrysler would have been nice since i own 5 2007 pkups 1 2012 durango & a 1999 dodge ram 3500. i don't know how to send documents on here but i can document all of this and testimony from 1 certified dodge mechanic and another colorado certified front end specialist. if it's neede i can mail copies of receipts or contact one of these lemon lawyers i just read about. thanks for your time and attention to this very disappointing experience with dodge : i really liked them but am unsure now of their safety. it always happened at about 50-55 mph, always in a curve after hitting a bump. once put me in the medium with a trailer load of hay. still wondering how i didn't kill somebody.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. while driving approximately 35 mph over a bump, there was a complete loss of steering control for a few seconds. the failure recurred whenever encountering a bump, pothole, or uneven road surfaces. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where a front and rear wheel alignment were performed. the failure persisted after the repair. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 76,000.
According to vin recall search in june 2015, there are 3, possible 4 "recall incompletes" on the truck, nhtsa recall #'s 09e001; 13v-528; 15v-313, and/or manufacturer recall #'s h46; n62: r25 respectfully, plus possible aftermarket pitman arm recall. no accidents or failures dealer says manufacturer is only releasing limited amount of supplies per dealer and they cannot reorder till current stock is installed. dealer says they have to wait till others ahead of me have their work completed and they are having issues getting customers to make appointments. for some reason, i keep moving down the recall list instead of up the list. seems unreasonable to take so long for these recalls, some of which are 2 to 6 years old.
Death wobble that's resistant to repair.
Driving down the road at 65 mph pulling and the right tie rod came apart and we headed into oncoming traffic. we were able to pull over without an accident. the dodge dealer told us that the left tie rod in trucks of our same year and model were under recall, but not ours. we had to repair it on our own. the left tie rod is now bad on ours but lucky we were told about it during a tire rotation. dodge says that our truck isn't covered even though the same year and model trucks are.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. while having routine maintenance performed on the vehicle, the service technicians made the contact aware that the vehicle was leaking from the rear end. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the pinion needed to be sealed. the vehicle was repaired. the contact stated that the failure recurred shortly afterwards. the vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the yolk needed to be replaced as well as the rear axle pinion nut. the vehicle was repaired. however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 120,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that upon turning left or right or while in reverse, there was a loud noise coming from the vehicle. the vehicle was not diagnosed ort repaired. the contact received notifications of nhtsa campaign id numbers: 13v528000 (steering), and 14v817000 (air bags) but the parts were not available. the dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was not available.
My son ([xxx]) was driving along king college road, bristol, tennessee at about 8:55pm on december 4, 2014 my vehicle became unsteerable while driving down the road. the left front tire rod apparently broke and he was unable to steer the vehicle. prior to this incident he had taken it to a local dodge dealer and they said it was not on the recall list. come to find out it appears someone erroneously listed the vehicle in the system as being repaired and it was never repaired. i believe someone listed it so chrysler would not have to repair my vehicle and it could have cost my son's life when the tire rod broke. i am requesting that an investigation be conducted to see who erroneously listed the vehicle as being repaired. thank you information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Recall notice n62/nhtsa 13v-528 left tie rod end may break while driving causing lose of steering and may result in accident??wow now you would think dodge would make this a priority to get fixed?? so i have emailed dodge several times about getting this fixed always same answer do not have parts, been to local dealer doing the same, got the same answer no parts to fix vehicle??? well lucky it broke on my street turning truck around to back in my driveway, steering linkage pushed into my left tire 6" so side wall belts are now broke but it was also causing my new tires to wear out faster on front of truck even after alignments done, so after a year my truck is still not fixed and is sitting at hall jeep/ dodge and no fix for it due to no parts available. so no i am less my truck and need to borrow a vehicle just to got to work, i find this a huge problem not only should i have a rental vehicle that matches my vehicle but want two new front tire now also why cant they get the parts i can order all parts needed right now online or go pickup locally and get my truck repaired but getting my money back for repairs will be a huge issue because after market parts?? really be better parts in my eyes being i would get heavy duty parts for replacement parts so no more front end issues i am done with dodge and trying to get a truck fixed that should have been done months ago with no hassle period!! oh and to top it all off the dealer gives me number to dodge roadside assistance to tow my truck to dealer less than a 1/4 mile form my house they want to charge me $73.00 for the tow?? um your recall issue and your tow problem i am not paying a dime being you cant get parts to fix my truck and when its now broke and has no steering dodge want me to pay for a tow bill ya ok good luck on that too...really wish could up load pictures its a site to see linkage stuck in my tire.... *tr

I hit a medium size bump in a construction zone on i-70 east in ohio and the steering wheel started shaking violently from side to side, the truck was shaking violently and i had to drop speed from 55 to 30 to regain control of the steering wheel, i almost caused an accident next to me and from behind. i am an active ohio firefighter and ex-ohio law enforcement officer, this problem needs to be addressed by dodge. i just came back from getting repairs on a recall for the tie rod assembly at thomas chrysler in st. clairsville ohio. someone is going to die with this problem and that's to high of a price to pay to resolve this problem. please have this investigated. *tr
There has been no failure, but i am frustrated to be waiting so long for recall n62/nhtsa 13v-528. dodge can't give me a time frame when the replacement parts will be available. this is dangerous! *tr

We received a notice in the mail regarding a national recall on our vehicle. we had the vehicle inspected by our local dodge dealer and were told we would be called when the parts come in. to date (over 1 month now) we have not gotten this recall part fixed, nor have we heard anything from the dealer. appx 2 weeks ago we made a follow up phone call to the dealer and were told that parts had still not arrived as there was a shortage of parts available. what in the hell could be taking the company so long to resolve this issue. in the recall letter it specifically states that :this could cause a loss of directional control and/or crash without warning. we have two small children. should any accident occur as a result of this issue i will personally sue the [xxx] out of whomever is and whomever is even moderately close to being responsible for the defects of this truck. period. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
This government vehicle has been deemed 'unsafe' to drive due to the affected unavailable parts. i have checked with the dealership to see if the parts can be brought from another location, to no avail. this vehicle has been 'out of service' for months while we wait for the part. it is our only longbed truck and used heavily during the current fire season. it is necessary to get this vehicle back in service and feel this is an unacceptable length of time to wait. *tr
