Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph the front end and the steering wheel lunged forward and shook uncontrollably. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the front and rear driver and passenger side tires, the upper and lower ball joints and the inner and outer tie rods. the failure continued to occur after the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 120,000. *tr

Driving on the expressway going about 65 mph, as i crossed over the expansion joints on a bridge the truck started shaking violently. it did not quit until i pulled over and stopped. i tried to continue to work and everytime i hit a bump it would shake violently even at 40 mph. if there would have been someone beside me at the time of the occurrence there would have been a serious crash. *tr

Nov. 2012 i bought my 2007 dodge ram truck 2500 for $21,000 soon after, we realized it had some front end problems. i took it for a front end alignment the following month - which did not improve the front end steering looseness, vibration and "clunking". i took it into a large, local tire/ front end service business for an evaluation. the first thing they told me is what everyone was telling me, " these dodge trucks are known for bad front ends". they did however, then tell me that the truck would need almost $1,000 worth of work to make it right. i did not have them do the repairs because i could not afford it, i had been told by so many that this was normal for dodge trucks and i thought i should get another opinion later. the truck has three open safety recalls on it. i took it to our local dodge dealership so the service writer could look at the front end (came out to the parking lot and looked at it) she said that it did need steering recall repairs. i asked that parts be ordered for that, plus airbag for the third recall. she said she didn't have any parts, "the manufacturer only sends us a few parts a month so whoever is on the top of the list will get a call when the parts are available". i left my name/number. when i bought the truck it had 64,650 miles and now, three years later only 67,900. i drive it only locally because i don't trust it, the steering is unpredictable, loose, clunky and has too much play in the wheel. when getting up to 50 mph or so, it vibrates also. i want this truck to be included in the chrysler/dodge buy back plan or the class action suite brought by the owner of a 2007 dodge ram 3500 for the "death shake" at higher speeds. thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the ball on the steering arm fractured causing both front wheels began to move independently. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. the contact was informed of a recall for the failure under nhtsa campaign id number: 11v350000 (steering:linkages:tie rod assembly) and contacted the manufacturer. the manufacturer advised him that the recall had been performed previously on the vehicle. the vehicle was in the process of being repaired. the failure and current mileage was 67,000.

Was driving on us 119 in wv traveling at about 65 mph and ran over one of the expansions joints on the roadway. front end of the truck immediately started shaking and wobbling out of control, having to slow down to around 10 or 15 mph to gain control back. had owned the truck for a few months with no problems until then. i have had garages to tell me to replace this and that to fix problem, being told that dodge was aware of the problem. as of this date i have had nothing done that has fixed problem, it is somewhat better as long as you stay under around 50 mph or so. the truck has done it approximately 15 to 20 times since then, having to slow down almost completely to get control of truck. since having gone thru this problem, i have read and talked to people about having the same problem with the same model of truck and have found out that i am not alone with this concern about my truck. *tr

The steering linkage in the ram broke. luckily it happened in a parking lot and not on the freeway. the ram had to be towed. at the time the owner of the mechanic shop where the truck was towed noted that there have been problems with the steering linkage in other rams he serviced. he suggested we go with a different brand part to keep this from happening again. the recall notice came asking that if the problem was serviced prior to the recall notice that we send in the receipt for reimbursement. we sent in all the proper documentation. we were informed over the phone though that our claim was not to be reimbursed since we did not use mopar parts (which was not a requirement stated on the recall). our reimbursement was rejected even though there was a issue with mopar parts and we chose to use a part that did not have a history of breaking. we don't feel we should have to pay for this problem. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while driving 78 mph, the power steering assist failed without warning. the contact mentioned that he lost control of the vehicle, causing him to crash into a pole. the vehicle was not destroyed and there were no injuries reported. the dealer was notified of the failure who advised him to contact the manufacturer. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who advised the contact that the main steering bar was fractured and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. the failure mileage was 42,430.

While driving on the highway at 66 mph my 2007 dodge ram 2500 4wd diesel started to experience the dodge death wobble. the whole truck started shaking and it was dangerous and hard to control. *tr

I was driving on i-90 when the steering started shaking. after slowing down below 35mph it went away. this happened everytime speed went above 50mph. took truck to dealer in ephrata and they replaced tie rods, pitman arms and steerage linkage/damper at a cost of $1200. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated while making a left turn the tie rod ball broke. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who replaced the linkage tie rod assembly. the failure recurred and the right tie rod ball broke. the contact replaced the tie rod linkage. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate mileage failure was unknown.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle made a loud sound and suddenly lost control of the vehicle. the contact mentioned that after inspecting the vehicle he noticed that the front left tie rod had fractured. also, the contact stated that he recently received recall nhtsa campaign number: 11v350000 (steering) which he believed was a band aid to the problem since the entire front end of the vehicle had to be repaired. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. the technician diagnosed that the steering box, bolt joints, both tie rod ends, and drive links needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offered any assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 37,000 and the current mileage was 52,000.

We were pulling the horse trailer we hit a pot hole and the truck went into a death wobble .the steering wheel just shook and the tires felt like they were going to come off the whole truck just shook. this was a danger to us and others. for you had to almost come to a stop on the freeway. i have read pages and blogs on this same problems on dodge trucks .somebody is going to die before dodge fixes this problem. *tr

Going down the highway at 55-60 and you come across a bridge landing you encounter an uncontrollable shaking in the drivers wheel and the truck wants to go all over the road and you must slam your brakes on to regain control over the whole truck. the mechanic told me the trac bar ruined my ball joints and wheel bearings he has seen alot of these dodges have this issue. and in his opinion they should be recalled this bill is going to cost me over $1500 mainly in just parts alone. *tr

I was driving south on hwy146 in baytown,tx. i struck a small pot hole and thats when the so called death wobble occured, had to brake and avoid striking other vehicles. this is the second time this occured within a week. there needs to be a recall before someone dies. *tr

When driving at 50-75 mph my truck has a very bad woble. it is very hard to control when it does this and i have to slow down in order for it to stop. with this being my only transportation to work and everything else i have nothing elsle to drive. i have took it to the dealership and one person say their is nothing wrong with my truck and the other say i need to sale it because dodge will never fix it or own up to their is a problem. i have had so many things replaced the shocks, control arms, steering rack, pitman arm and steering damper. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, he was able to turn the steering wheel in a complete revolution and the vehicle veered into another lane without warning. the vehicle was stopped and towed to the dealer, who diagnosed that the front passenger side tie rod was fractured. as a result, the tie rod and steering assembly needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance since the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 11v350000 (steering:linkages:tie rod assembly). the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 92,876.

I purchased a 2007 dodge ram 2500 in december 2010 from royal gate dodge in ellisville, mo. the vehicle had a "death wobble" and the sales rep. recommended changing the linkage to the updated version that was available. they gave it to me free as long as i installed it on the truck. i did at approx. 73,000 miles. now, 13 months later and 27,000 miles on the replaced linkage, my left outer tie rod sheared off while turning a corning at around 15mph. since i took the linkage and installed it myself, it only has a 12 month warranty. if they installed it, would have been covered. as sad as their business practices are, i am writing regarding your investigation/recall on the 2500/3500 newer trucks with the same issue. i would like to make you aware of the issue that these defective parts can be interchanged on older vehicles, like mine. i have ordered the replacement moog tie rod and will be installing it as soon as it comes in and feel lucky i was at low speeds. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. while driving 20 mph, the contact stated that the fron passenger side tie rod fractured and the vehicle shook violently. the dealer did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not covered by any recalls. the manufacturer had not been notified. no repairs were performed. the failure and current mileages were 80,000. the vin was unavailable.

While pulling out of a driveway there was a loud pop and there was no control of the steering. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while the driver was driving at approximately 50 mph, the front driver's side of the vehicle shook violently without warning. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 13v528000 (steering) but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the vehicle started to shake violently and exhibited a loud, abnormal noise. in addition, the steering wheel became uncontrollable. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was advised to the contact that the steering linkage bar was fractured and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 13v528000 (steering) however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not further repaired. the failure mileage was 125,000 and the current mileage was 200,000.

Truck has horrible death wobble, steering box is now damaged as well as wheel bearings. it is not safe to drive and i have spoken to chrysler several times about this matter, and all i am told is to wait for new parts to be released. what am i supposed to drive in the mean time ? *tr

While driving the vehicle at approximately 50mph, and after hitting a bump/pothole in the roadway, the vehicle began to shake violently, nearly causing a collision. the vehicle is still under extended warranty and was diagnosed by putnam dodge in burlingame as needing the steering stabilizer replaced. on 1/12/12, i replaced the stabilizer and had the alignment checked, and again the violent shaking occurred at approximately 50 mph. once the shaking starts it is very difficult to control the vehicle, the only way to get it to stop is to brake dramatically. in one instance, i was on an overpass and narrowly avoided a collision. *tr

While driving down interstate 25 in albuquerque nm i hit an expansion joint in the road and the truck began to shake violently forcing all other drivers on the road around me to scatter to avoid an accident. i immediately began to slow down and the violent shaking did not stop until i reached approx 35-40mph. i was convinced that my wheel was falling off or a major suspension component had failed but after an immediate inspection there was nothing readily identified. after a very brief search of the web it appears this is a common problem called the "death wobble" and no one appears to have been able to correct it with repairs. below are 3 of the many you tube links i found describing the incident perfectly as it happened to me. outside the vehicle view of death wobble: http://youtu.be/6lamxupbfda news story conerning the death wobble: http://youtu.be/xmftrgbynim interior view of the death wobble: http://youtu.be/gbhmkyvrihk i have only owned this vehicle for 1 year and am concerned that my family is no longer safe in this vehicle. i cannot sell this vehicle knowing that this problem is present, putting someone else in the same danger. i am more than willing to repair the issue myself but it appear that this is happening to may others with no real solutions. someone is going to get severly injured or killed if this issue is not resolved soon as it appear to be happening to many of the chrysler hd trucks 2003 to the present. in addition to nearly 50 complaints on the safecar.gov website of the same issue. dodge needs to do the right thing and at least provide the proper engineering required to let us know how to repair the issue. nhtsa needs to issue a recall and force the hand of chrysler to take ownership and issue the proper fix for the issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the vehicle became overheated and the steering wheel became hard to maneuver intermittently. the check engine warning light was also illuminated sporadically. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where it was diagnosed that the manual temperature sensor, reflash module, and the sensor exhaust manifold needed to be replaced. there were multiple repairs performed on the vehicle however, the failure was recurring. the dealer then diagnosed that the diesel exhaust sensor, egr valve, gasket, crank case sensor and the differential pressure sensor needed to be replaced, in addition to an unknown component of the steering gear box.the vehicle was not completely repaired and the check engine warning light was still illuminated. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 33,492.

Left tie rod ball stud fractured while making a sharp left hand turn in a parking lot. this item was replaced by chrysler approximately two years prior under a recall. i towed the truck to autoworld dodge - petaluma (chrysler dealership) for repair. they insisted the broken part was out of warranty and was my responsibility to repair. i had no choice but to have them make the repairs at my expense. this failure was a clearly known problem, but they would not stand behind their product. is there any recourse for their failure to comply with an obviously recalled part (nhtsa campaign id #11v350000, action #pe11009)? *tr

Headed on interstate east down a hill hit a split the in pavement and the front end started to wobble so bad that the truck changed lanes had to put the truck in neutral and coast to the side of the road to avoid other traffic in the other two lanes this could cause death to someone . i have had every part in the front end replaced steering box / upper and lower balljoints /all tierodends/tire balanced new bushings .everything. *tr

At highway speeds when you hit a bump in the road the front steering of the truck starts a violent shaking commonly known as the death wobble. this does not allow you to steer or control the vehicle until you slow down to 30mph. i have been ran off the road several time when this occurred, thankfully i did not hit another vehicle. dodge is aware of the faulty design and will sell the redesigned parts to eliminate the issue for about $600. they will not warranty it unless it is installed by them. if you want "under warranty" truck repaired to fix their faulty design you will have to pay for parts and labor, about $1500 total. this is a very dangerous problem. there are several videos on youtube that show how it happens and the "death wobble" in action, search "dodge ram death wobble". thanks. *kb

I purchased a used 2007 dodge power wagon from a small dealership in may of 2011. i have been a loyale dodge owner for many years and don't know why. upon test driving this truck before the purchase i felt a shake in the front end. i spoke with the privious owner who indicated the tires were the issue. i took a chance a bought the truck "as is" with no warranty implied. i have researsed the dodge "death wobble" because i knew it would just be a matter of time before i experience it. i was right. i knew that replacing parts was not the answer after reading many complaints on the web. like a dummy, i took it in to a couple different places. i called the dealer and asked if there was a "fix" and they did not know of any. my research took me to a well known heavy duty truck shop. i told him about this issue and he was very convinsing that they could repair it. this tech/owner knew more about this problem then dodge. again, i took the chance i spent over $650.00. he had issued me a tsb from dodge that stated replacing all 4 tie rods and doing a special allignment would cure it. nope! since the purchace i have replace all 4 tires, steering dampner shock, all 4 tie rods, and numerious tire ballancing and allignments. i feel like an idiot. i'm doing exactly what i said i would'nt, spend big money for a known saftey issue from dodge! my complaint is the very known "death wobble". i should have wrote when i went through dodges transmission problems. i'm a hard working, tax paying, family man who pays his bills and so on... yes, it does boil down to getting personal. consumers are taking the hit for so many thing. if i were to do something that was right i would do everything i could to make it right. dodge needs to wake up and realize they have a huge saftey issue that could end many lives! please read/reserch these may complaints and make it right for the people. *tt

Vehicle went into a severe wobble. not a shimmy or shake but a wobble to a point that the tires lost contact with blacktop. after numerous trips to dealer and filing complaints with both chrysler and ntsb i found that all was in vain. i was relegated to keeping the vehicle under 55 mph so driving the freeways in calif was avoided as much as possible. i could not afford another vehicle so i was stuck with the ram. after an incident on a two lane rd around july of 2014 (wobble in a curve found me in the oncoming lane of traffic) i did as much research as possible thus finding that many were experiencing the same problem. there were recalls and bulletins as found out by my local mechanic regarding this very problem. $900.00 and change later the problem was finally fixed. the pitman arm was at the wrong angle which put undo stress on the bushings for tie rod and drag link. this created wear thus loosening the entire steering system. dodge let this problem persist knowing that the loss of control was a certainty...look at the recalls and bulletins. i don't really care about the buy back i feel i should be reimbursed for the repair..## vin passed ## dodge ram 2500 4x4 2007 ##...updated 08/06/15 *bf the consumer stated the pitman arm issue was from a bulletin from dodge. the angel on the stock pitman arm needed to be replaced with a pitman arm that was at a different angle. thus leveling the tie rod and drag link. the consumer's mechanic believed the stress on the bushings of the bad angle of the pitman is what degraded the bushings and loosened the steering system resulting in the wobble. updated 08/13/15 updated 09/29/15*jb

2007 dodge ram 2500 pick up truck. consumer states vehicle violently shakes and moves back and forth *tgw the consumer stated the vehicle has a problem known as the death wobble. if a slight bump is hit in the road, the vehicle shakes back and forth violently and does not stop until the consumer slows down. *jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. while driving 55 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to steer. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact turned on the emergency lights and coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road. the contact depressed the brake pedal, but it failed to stop the vehicle. the contact shifted into first gear and was able to stop the vehicle. an independent mechanic arrived at the scene and diagnosed that the water pump failed. the mechanic also stated that the bearing caused the serpentine belt to detach. the serpentine belt needed to be replaced. the independent mechanic replaced the water pump and the serpentine belt. the contact took the defective water pump to albany chrysler dodge jeep ram (located at 2315 santiam hwy se, albany, or 97322, (541) 967-9105). the contact was informed that the water pump was defective and the design was different. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 25,426. *as consumer stated the narrative on this form describes the 2nd failed water pump at 87k miles. the first water pump failed at 25k . at this low of miles, this vehicle is on the 3rd water pump. is there a design flaw? three water pumps in 87k miles is just not normal. it is extremely dangerous when steering and brakes fail when driving in traffic at highway speeds.*jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. while the vehicle was parked the contact noticed the drivers side tie rod end was broken. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the technicians stated the drivers side tie rod end needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle began to violently shake. the vehicle was maneuvered to the shoulder and stopped. the contact resumed driving as normal. the failure had since recurred on one occasion. the vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. the failure mileage was 35,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated the vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times since the front end was swerving out of control while driving over a bump in the road. the dealer advised the contact that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle; however, while driving 70 mph the drivers front wheel tie rod broke in half. the vehicle was towed to the contacts home. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 44,050 and the current mileage was 110,000.

2007 dodge ram passenger side tie rod end dropped out while driving approx 45 mph on back road. lost all steering function, as left side is attached to right side. narrowly avoided collision with several trees and a small bridge. truck finally stopped in oncoming ditch. tie rods had been replaced by dealer under warranty approx 30k miles prior. truck drove normal until this point, but tie rods had started showing wear previously, but not serious enough to cause any alarm. dealership was unwilling to replace tie rods under warranty for the third time, as it was the last week of said warranty. replaced parts with heavy duty aftermarket parts at my own expense. dealership had inspected truck on a previous trip and said truck had "updated" steering linkages and components. *tr

First incident occurred while traveling south on i15 while towing a 28 foot travel trailer, with my wife and children, that i had pulled several times previously with no issues. we drove over a rough patch of the interstate, and the truck began to shake violently. thinking that the trailer lost a tire, i fought the steering to get the truck to the shoulder. once stopped, i went immediately to the trailer and found no problems, i then crawled under the truck and found no problems. we continued on our way, not knowing what happened, and didn't have another occurrence for awhile. another occurrence happened on i84 while traveling west between bliss and mountain home, with my two children in the car, again traveling the speed limit, and as the truck crossed an expansion joint. at that time, other than the violent steering shake, it felt like the truck was bucking, like the rear tires were coming off the ground. it has happened once or twice since then, same scenario, freeway expansion joints cause the shake to start, pulling over and slowing down to 20-30 mph gets it to stop. i had researched the problem online and found it was a fairly common problem, that dodge won't take responsibility for. i took the truck to the dealer i purchased the truck from and asked them to check it out before the warranty ran out. they told me there wasn't anything wrong, but they could install "upgraded" steering components for $1000. i then emailed dodge, with no resolve. now, on july 12th, 2013, while traveling east with three friends, on either i86 or i15 towards jackson, wy, the shake occurred 3 times in an hour! needless to say, we all lost confidence in the safety of the truck for the rest of the trip. each time in occurred, it was a rough spot, or transition on the freeway. every bump we all held our breath, the trip home, we went a different way to avoid as much freeway as possible. *tr

1. my trucks has had the famous dodge "death wobble" where when you hit a bump the tires start shaking out of control and you have to stop the truck to make it quit. 2. driving down the interstate and hot a bump and its started to "death wobble" and snapped the tie rod end to the pit men arm at the tierod end sleeve which cause loss or all steering luckily i made it off in the ditch with out killing any one, had my little 14 year old brother with me 3. upgraded tierod ends, steering dampener and steering linkage(because chrysler knows this is a problem) its a very common problem its all over forums, yes there is a recall on tie rod ends where the joint breaks this 1 the rod part still a common problem and i took my truck to see about the recall and they said mine was ok 3 days later this even happened lucky no 1 has died. the dealer ship kept the old parts but i do have pictures. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact was driving 5 mph when the pitman arms on the front axle fractured. the vehicle was towed to a mechanic who informed her that the entire front end would need replacing. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted in regards to the failure. the failure mileage was 133,919.

When traveling down the road and come across a bump, lift, or dip in the road the truck will violently shake. i took a road trip to florida recently and i experienced the death wobble at 90 mph, it made me cross into the next lane then into the median. talking about scary!i have researched this on the internet a lot and it appears the be called the "death wobble". i am very concerned with the fact that dodge has not issued a recall for this. why? plenty of people have the problem! its obviously a flaw in the dodge design not being able to support the weight of the cummins diesel. i have looked into getting this 08 steering upgrade but the dealer wants $975 to fix it and can not guarantee that it will fix it.

Severe wobble/shaking of front end at speeds between 50mph to 70mph, after hitting normal bumps along the highways. my truck has 55000 miles in it. apparently it is happening to alot of dodge 2500 diesel owners, however, dodge is not backing up their products and says that the owners are responsible for a factory defect. i am scared to put my wife and kids in my truck for fear of something breaking in the front end and crashing. i have checked the ball joints, bearings, bushings etc and have not seen anything wrong to indicate why this is happening. hopefully with enough complaints dodge will issue a safety recall and fix this problem before it costs someone their life. *tr

2007 dodge 2500 steering wobble over 55 mph death wobble/ dodge needs to address multiple issues online for same thing happening to other ppl and is a safety hazard since i am in the automotive industry also. *tr

Two of our 2007 pick trucks center link terminal has pop out with out any warning or signs of wear. one of the pick up was backing up when right hand wheel steering terminal pop out of the center link and that wheel steer all the way right. in the second pick up happened exactly the same situation but this time while driving, right wheel turn completely left and the center link bar puncture the tire. no one was injure in either incidents. have picture and parts of second incident for you to inspect. *tr

I have experienced the infamous "dodge death wobble" numerous times in the past 3 months. i have a 2007 2500 dodge ram truck that i bought used a year ago. three months ago, driving on the interstate going about 65 mph i came upon a bridge approach slab and once i hit it the truck began violently shaking. afterwards i did research on the issue and discovered what i experienced matched what is known as the "dodge death wobble". i contacted my dealer and they said dodge has issued a repair bulletin for this issue however also said that they do not believe the repairs dodge recommends fixes the problem. (the research i have done also supports that comment). on november 21 while traveling for thanksgiving i experienced the "death wobble" five times within an hour. i was traveling along interstate 10 at 65-75 mph and every bump, bridge approach slab, or pot hole that was hit would initiate this horrific shaking of the truck. i was in fear of mine and my passengers lives and in fear of damaging other components of the truck. i slowed down to 45-55mph and even slower when crossing road impairments stated above; this seemed to prevent the shaking. since, i have contacted my dodge dealer, the local dealer of where i'm spending the holiday, and chrysler's customer service. the two dealers again told me about dodge's bulletin however both said they do not believe replacing the tire rod ends and control arms will fix the problem. chrysler took two days to get a hold of a live person and then a customer service phone rep said that a case manager would contact me within 24 hours. however because of the holiday this puts them not contacting me before 8pm friday. i am traveling home sunday and fear further damaging the vehicle and putting my life in danger if i continue to drive the truck with this defect not being addressed and fixed immediately! *tr

I own a 2007 dodge ram 2500 that has 65,000 miles on it with 4 wheel drive and a 5.7l gas engine. i was traveling home on interstate 5 n/b a few miles north of lost hills ca about 2130 hrs. i set my cruise control for 78 mph and a few minutes later hit a minor bump in the road. my vehicle began to shake violently and i braked but the wobble did not cease until i was going about 25 mph. i pulled to the shoulder and inspected the tires, wheels, steering components and suspension components. there was nothing visibly wrong so i resumed my trip and reactivated my cruise control. a few moments later my vehicle again shook violently. i limped home at much slower speeds with no more problems. the dealer inspected my truck and i pointed out to them a tsb that covered the situation. the dealer discovered .030 inch play in a tie rod end. my extended warranty is through vehicle one and they sent an inspector to the dealership who declined the repair since the tsb issued by dodge allows for a maximum allowable movement of .045 inch. during the second incident i was not able to safely steer my truck and ended up halfway into the adjoining lane before i was able to regain control of the vehicle. this would have caused an accident if there had been a vehicle next to me. i am now stuck driving this vehicle or paying nearly $2000 to repair it myself. dodge has replaced the original unsafe steering linkage with a newly designed one that is not supposed to be subject to this unsafe condition. the real issue here is that dodges tsb for this problem is too restrictive and will allow my extended warranty not to cover the repair. if the tsb required the components to be replaced any time the condition is present then my warranty would cover the repair. this problem is referred to on the internet as the "ram death wobble". please help this condition is widespread and dangerous. *tr

This has been an ongoing problem since i purchased the vehicle. it has been identified by the many people that have experienced the problem as the death wobble. i have addressed this problem with chrysler and they will not admit there is a problem more than likely because there would be a recall and much money to spend. i have also addressed this problem with my local dealership and they have maintained the same position as chrysler. upon researching the net many have experienced the same problem. description of the problem is as follows; at speeds of 55 to 70 mph, upon hitting normal pot holes (normal for calif pot holes) the vehicle will go into a violent shaking. this is shaking of the entire vehicle where the only way to stop it is to slow to about 30. so needless to say it happens mainly on the freeway. my latest episode happened on a portion of a highway with a curve to the right. after the wobble started due to centrifical force the truck "danced" into the oncoming lane and on to the right shoulder of the same lane. in an effort to slow the truck i was now on gravel/dirt sliding side ways. came to a stop and sat to collect myself. resumed my travel slowing to 40 mph at any and every curve. i have not been able to take this vehicle on any freeway because of this problem. please keep in mind i am not alone. simply log on to the net and type in death wobble. you will discover how prevalent this problem is. can you folks help? *tr

(2007 dodge 2500 6.7l cummins) (50,000 miles) at any speed in excess of 50mph a severe and violent shake is experienced when a bump/pothole/break in pavement is struck. this causes lose of control and does not correct until vehicle speed falls below 40 mph. i have owned vehicle only a month and have spent in excess of $1300. all tie rods, steering components have been replaced. tires, ball joints were inspected. vehicle has be aligned multiple times and problem remains. truck is currently at dealership 3rd time for same complaint. very thankful that i nor anyone else have been injured or killed. there are thousands of same complaints everywhere. what else can be replaced...? *tr
