2007 dodge ram 2500 - while driving approximately 50 mph the truck wheels go into what is referred to as the "death wobble" as it's described as both front tires are bouncing up and down like a basketball. the driver has very limited steering control while this is happening resulting in a serious automotive accident. there was a recall on tie-rods but the dealership did not replace the defective tie-rods. i took the truck to a local garage specializing in front wheel alignments and tie rods. this is extremely dangerous and dodge should be held responsible and liable for this defective design and part. *tr

I received a recall notice in the mail and took my truck to the dealer who preceded to tell me that it did not apply to my truck , so when my 16 year left the dealership 2 days later she was driving down the road and it started shaking uncontrollably and she heard a snap and lost control of the steering and hit a guardrail and wrecked, if not for the guardrail she would have went down a six ft embankment and been injured. she had just driven on the interstate and if she had been on it she probably would have died. i do not appreciate the dealer putting my daughter in this kind of danger, when i contacted them about this they said well, we are only sent 1 every 7 days and they are 30 people in front of you. this excuse is unacceptable and my child could have been killed. i had to pay 933.00 for repairs and i expect to be reimbursed for these repairs. *tr

My truck violently shakes when you hit a bump at approx. 55 mph or greater. it also wanders and is very tough to steer when the vibration starts. it seems to be consistent to thousand of other complaints bye ram 2500 owners i have read about online and watched videos regarding there "dodge death wobble" nightmares with the trucks. i recently consulted with the dealer and they offer a steering linkage "upgrade kit" for approx. $1200 installed. from what i have researched is the kit doesn't always fix the problem. i have a 2007 dodge ram 2500 with only 55,000 miles on it that i will not drive over 55 mph. it terrifies me when it shutters so bad. i cannot believe a $45,000 truck new priced is undriveable over 50 mph due to the ungodly shaking. i don't know how this has escaped recall with millions of owners complaining and making you tube videos and posting on forums about the "dodge death wobble." its so unbelievable that i paid over 30k for a truck and it only has 50,000 miles on it and cant be driven over 50 mph!! please look at some of the "dodge death wobble" videos on you tube and tell me how that cant be safety issue. *tr

Reference the below complaint, and others: date complaint filed: 03/02/2015 component(s): power train , suspension date of incident: 10/01/2014 nhtsa id number: 10691476 driving approximately 50 mph on winding two lane country road, while executing curve to right, after passing over a slight bump in the road, front suspension entered what is commonly called a " death wobble". steering quickly became ineffective, braking was diminished due to loss of firm contact between front tires and road surface. wobble is regenerative in that it continues to get worse until vehicle speed is reduced to 15-20 mph. i was unable to precisely control direction of travel, crossing into oncoming lane before reducing speed enough to regain control. vehicle shakes so bad as to dislodge items from the dash and console pockets. this event repeated several times at a particular spot on my way to work, where there was an irregularity in the roadway on a straight section of paved two lane road. behavior was the same as described above. the last even was while pulling a twenty two foot trailer on a major interstate, while negotiating a right hand curve on a down hill merge lane at freeway speed of approximately 60-65 mph. again i was unable to maintain my lane of travel and a crash would have resulted if any other traffic had been near me! definitely a safety issue! local dealership assured me a new steering damper would cure the problem. (it didn't) i eventually fixed the problem myself by researching what other owners had done online (there is a lot of info on this issue!), and replacing the pitman arm, drag link, tiered, and adding a steering shaft stiffening brace. the drag link, tiered and tiered ends were a mopar part kit. much heavier construction than the original part. response to a known issue? this issue makes the truck nearly un drivable. *tr

There was a safety recall on my dodge pickup - safety recall number n62 / nhtsa 13v-528. the recall notice was for a left tie rod and issued in january 2014. reported calls to multiple dodge dealerships have not been productive since they all repeatedly state that they do not have the parts for the repair. my truck's front end now shakes and makes a loud noise as well as the steering wanders and is not safe. i have no alternative but to take the truck to a private shop to get the truck fixed as it is a severe safety hazard and is unsafe to drive and i need to use the vehicle as it is my only mode of transportation. they stated that they will not reimburse me for the work and were not amenable to travel a few miles to drive the vehicle to experience the issues, for which they still don't have parts to fix. calls to dealerships and to dodge have not proved fruitful; they don't care about consumer safety or inconveniences. i want to be repaid for the work that is to be performed to make the vehicle safe again. *tr

I was driving along the interstate around 65mph and hit a small bump in the road and all of a sudden my vehicle started wobbling all over the place. had my wife and 5 month old baby in the car and finally was able to pull off the side of the road, but while doing that almost sideswiped a few vehicles and semi truck. i believe i was lucky with this. i have heard there is other people who has similar incidents to mine. *tr

i bought an extra clean 07 2500 4/4 megacab 6.7 in june of this year. had upper and lower moog ball joints, tie rod ends and rods where needed, plus new damper at 169k mi. put a set of new shocks on the other day, truck is factory height ,but has 285s instead of 265s.just today it went into a death wobble on a wet concrete interstate after hitting a very small pot hole on left. i was runnin about 70 and [xxx] near lost it. luckily there was nothing on shoulder cause i couldn't keep it in my lane. thank god my wife or daughters weren't driving! help!! i dread testing it again after someone claims to have fixed it,since it took 6 mos. to show up and only seems to happen at dangerously high speeds. In 2007 i purchased a new dodge ram big horn 4x4 cummings diesel.i pull a 2-horse bumper pull trailer about 12 times a yr,haul a few things in bed, truck has light use.being a career mechanic i am particular about maintenance, truck is garaged,1/2015 only has 38,000 mi.took to dealership in 2013 for tie rod end recall, told me all was ok, no parts needed.during a 300 mi.round trip pulling trailer/horses 10/13,i noticed some wandering, upon return took to dealership for check and tire rotation which was also due.immediately noticed wandering was worse going home, took back again, they rotated tires again(probably back how they were),added wheel weight, still wandering, tired taking in with no results.new tires oct 2013,ruled out tire problem as cause.noticed wander more with trailer.for peace of mind took back 1 more time before horse trip oct.2014,told all ok even thou still wandering.started weaving also during trip, felt uncomfortable about stability there and back.a few wks ago taking to dealership for oil change/weaving check, while on local paved road truck pulled sharply to right, pass.mirror smashed into sign,$530 bill.lucky i kept truck on road!right away took to front end shop, didn't feel confident with dealership.they found front end parts worn, needed replacement, tie rod ends, track bar bushings, drag link and ball joints!on a 38,000 mile well maintained truck that didn't haul or pull heavy loads!ridiculous!search found thousands of complaints for this issue, many people put in dangerous life threatening situations, people may have died from this failure.main cause seems the engine is too heavy for weak inferior parts with poor design.dodge takes no responsibility and ignores issue while consumers pay millions in repairs and unknowingly risk their lives.dodge needs to recall these dangerous vehicles!fixes are there but should not be at consumers expense! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. while driving at 55 mph, the steering wheel became loose. the contact had to steer in excess in order to turn the vehicle. in addition, there was a noise coming from the steering wheel. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the tie rods needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact had previously experienced the failure and the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 13v528000 (steering). the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 93,000. the vin was unavailable.

I went to the dealer for a state inspection. i was told that the front end steering parts needed to be replaced as it wasn't strong enough for the truck. i asked if it was recalled as it wasn't strong enough. they said no, and the only way they could correct with their parts was replace the whole system. (they would have gotten a part from a outside parts house to replace the one bad part). i believed them and had the whole system replaced for over $1100. it was the replaced system evidently that has been recalled. i have contacted a dealer closer to my winter home for the recall. i have been waiting for over two months for them to contact me that the parts were in. at the original time of me checking i was told the parts probably were not even made yet. repeated checking is to no avail. i am told they only receive about one part ever two weeks, and they had my info and would call me. the problem could cause a crash! with the winter we have had, and we do plow with this vehicle, it should be a priority. they were contacted january 7th and we are now into march. the time has pasted on when this should be done. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that the steering wheel was extremely stiff when turning left or right. the contact noticed that the failure progressed when the vehicle was pulling a trailer or without the trailer. the contact had to apply excessive force to the steering wheel, which was painful to the vehicle owner's arm upon turning when the failure recurred. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was not available. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. the approximate failure mileage was 26,000. updated 11/27/2017*cn

I have owned this truck from day one. 2007 ram 2500 4x4 quad cab 5.9. 50,000 miles. truck has been pulling to the right for a while. i took vehicle in for alignment at dealership. they set it to specs. brought it back about 40 days later to realign, still pulling to the right. service advisor said that i needed to buy an offset ball joint in order for them to get more adjustment and to correct alignment at a cost of $622.00. said that this is common problem. i called & emailed dodge/chrysler asking why i would have to buy a part to correct a stock factory item. they called dealership to verify problem and told me what the dealership said it needed and that was all. consumer shouldn't have to buy aftermarket parts to fix a stock item. *tr

2007 dodge ram 2500. consumer writes in regards to left tie rod ball stud fractured. *smd the consumer stated the ball stud fractured while driving. the vehicle began to shake uncontrollably, and caused the tie rod to drop to the ground. *jb

On march 12 we were returning from skiing, driving down the highway at 60 mph when the left front tie rod broke on our 2007 ram 2500. my husband was able to slow the truck down and pull off to the side of the road. we had the truck towed to the mechanic where the left front tie rod was replaced, as well as the upper and lower ball joints. when dodge had the recall on this part we took the truck in and were told that the recall was only on the replacement parts that had been put on for the broken tie rod and that they would not reimburse us for the cost of fixing the original tie rod that broke. the dodge dealership supposedly changed out the replacement tie rod. my concern with the recall is: if the original tie rod wasn't defective dodge wouldn't be replacing so many replacements. why were we not reimbursed for the original equipment that was obviously defective?

I have been notified of the recall on the left tie rod end (n62 / nhtsa 13v-528). i spoke with my local dealer on 01/13/14 and was put on the list for repair. the dealership stated that i was number 35 on the list and they were completing 1 recall every 7-8 days due to lack of parts. now i am told this recall has been put on hold and will not resume until 6/14. this delay for a recall is alarming. 'the left tie ball stud on you truck may fracture under certain driving conditions. this could cause loss of directional control and/or crash without warning.' the tie rod end on my truck has fractured once all ready less than 1 year ago. fortunately there was not a wreck or injury due to the loss of the ability to steer the vehicle. i am now having to replace another steering component linkage on the same truck that is not affected by the recall and the mechanic is having problems locating parts to complete the repair. again if this tie ball stud would fracture it would result in loss of steering control. *tr

I believe that my truck should be covered under chrysler safety recall no. l16 when driving approximately 60 miles per hour or more, my truck has a vibration in the front end. i have taken it to different shops and have replaced the wheel hub and had the tires rotated and balanced. this has not solved the problem. yesterday when i took the truck in to get an alignment done, the shop owner told me that they did not want to align it because there was a problem with the tie rod end. he did some research and found that under chrysler safety recall no. l16, it states "model year 2003-2008 dodge ram 2500/3500 vehicles may have received the affected tie rod assembly as a replacement part during normal service". i believe that my truck falls under this category. i asked a local chrysler dealership to run the vin number for my truck to see if it was covered under chrysler safety recall no. l16. they said no, it was not. i believe that considering the circumstances that my truck should be covered under this recall. please advise. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 dodge ram 2500. the contact stated that while traveling 70 mph over a road bump, the front end of the vehicle began to shake violently. the contact decelerated to 30 mph before the shaking would cease. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where the steering column and shocks were replaced however, the repair did not correct the failure. the contact stated that the dealer advised him that there should have not been a problem with the vehicle but also advised having additional component replaced. the contact did not disclose of the exact repair recommendations. the vehicle was not further repaired. the failure mileage was unknown. the current mileage was 129,000.

On numerous occasions my truck has went into a violent shaking. known by many as the "dodge death wobble". i have spoken with dodge on this issue at two different dealerships and they are aware of the issue but seem to refuse to fix or recall it. i have seen numerous fixes that my or may not fix the issue but at owners expense. this is ridiculous on a $40,000 vehicle in my opinion. i am truly amazed no one has been injured or killed from this issue. *tr
