Recently reported SERVICE BRAKES problems on 2013 Dodge Durango

When vechicle is in cruise control the brake peddle is very stiff and extremely hard to push down

The lines for the parking brake rusted through and broke. vehicle is only 6 years old.

I was driving and the vehicle completely shut off without warning. there are no lights on, on the dash and it is not giving off any codes. the vehicle has shut off three times now. the first time in january, i had just got off of the highway and began to travel again. the truck turned off when i got up to around 25-30 miles per hour. the second time in march, i had stopped and started to travel again and was going about 25 miles per hour coming up an underpass.and the third time was yesterday. i was driving up a city street going about 40 miles per hour and the truck shut off. there was no one on the side of me. it felt like there was no power steering. i was able to wrestle the steering wheel to move to the side of the road. the truck coasted and stopped. i could not press the brake!!!! each time the vehicle shut off was when i was coming off of a stop and bringing the vehicle back up to speed, except yesterday it shut off once i was up to about 40 miles per hour. the vehicle shut off, i was unable to steer the truck as if it had no power steering and i could not press the brakes. i was able to wrestle the truck over and restart it. this is a serious issue. i reported it to dodge today and they said there are no open recalls on this issue and to take it back to the dealer. however, i searched online and there are numerous similar complaints. something needs to be done before someone dies.

I was driving in some pretty hard rain going about 60mph. i slowed the car down to about 40 and when attempting to accelerate again the car would not accelerate. the vehicle then seemed to stall and lose both breaks and steering. i was on a hill so it was very scary. i was able to pump the emergency break and get the vehicle to stop. something is wrong with this vehicle causing it to not accelerate, then lose power and breaks. i was reading an issue with the alternator may be the case but i am not sure how that would cause loss of breaks. also my dealership states they already fixed the alternator recall on this vehicle.

Brake system stopping power is greatly reduced. this vehicle has already had the brake booster recall completed several months ago. the problem has just occurred yesterday. vehicle was in motion on the freeway, the lack of braking power caused me to swerve into traffic to avoid slamming into a school bus i was behind, and narrowly avoid a head on collision with another vehicle.

Icy conditions, around dusk. breaking mechanism failed to work. got into a car accident because of it. this is the second time that the booster recall has happened. had to go out of pocket to fix vehicle and have not received compensation for the damages.

I was driving down my street in my 2013 dodge durango. i got to the intersection and like any other person i went to stop. i depressed my barbrake pedal and nothing happened. there was also a loud hissing noice. no lights such as abs was on when i started the car. i thankfully didn't hit anyone and was able to coast and wait for the car to stop. long story short it had to do with a saftey recall ( the receipt says recall p14) for the brake booster that was not fixed at the dealership correctly. i was very dissapointed in the car overall, i had three problems in about a month with my kids in the car all three times.

For the past 2 months we have been having problems with this vehicle it's been stalling on me, weather if we are on the highway or in town. now the amazing thing is that it comes back on, on its own without us touching anything on it, but on the mean time we lose the brakes and steering control at high speed on the highway. the dealer has done all the recalls on it in the past two weeks and still can't find the problem. i think this is something the government needs to look into it before someone dies and mention this because on my way to san antonio the vehicle die on me at 75 miles an hour and i had my family with me that day' i did some research on this vehicle and it seems that there are way too many dodge vehicles with this stalling problem and the dealers can't figure out what's with them'

I purchase my vehicle in 2013 and shortly after recvd several recalls. one recall was repaired in a timely manner, however it took from november 2013 to march 8, 2016 to recv an appointment to complete the additional recalls. shortly before my appointment my engine light illuminated. when i meet my appointment time at nyle maxwell supercenter in austin tx, i informed them of the engine light. after a week, they informed me that not only the countless recalls that need repair that i also needed a part for my transmission. they have no vehicle for me to loan out to me that meets the same needs as my durango and have informed me that they may keep my vehicle for another 30 days..

This happened while driving to work at about 0745 going north on i35 from temple tx to waco. a 18 wheeler cut me off while i was in the right lane. he passed me then very quickly changed lanes. i stomped on the brakes and nothing happened then i lifted my feet and stepped on the brakes again and nothing happened.then on the third stomp they finally worked. at that time i heard a rushing of air .i hit the brakes again but there was no air noise. the brakes worked fine after that but i didn't get back on the interstate. i drove very carefully the rest of the day. but i have had other times that when i hit the brakes the brake pedal pushed back on my foot. that has happened several times. *tr

Purchased vehicle in nov 2013. received recall for brake booster in may 2014 (p14/nhtsa 14v-154). called and scheduled an appointment. dealership said that they would call when the part was received. no call to date. received second recall notice via mail on 12/26/14. called dealership and they stated that the parts were not coming in very quickly. recommended i file this complaint with the nhtsa. also stated that they were doing the second recall for sun visor wiring, received in aug 2014, in conjunction with the brake booster, when/if the parts arrive. (p36/nhtsa 14v-391). this report is filed to comply with the directions of the recall that state "if your dealer fails or is unable to remedy the defect without charge and within a reasonable time, you may submit a written complaint to the administrator".

P14 recall on brake booster. received 2nd notice today and have been to the dealership 3 times all 3 times i was told that they will not look at the recalled part as they don't have the parts in stock to replace. i called chrysler recall group and they can't guarantee the parts to be available, only to call other dealerships to see what can be done. on top of this i now have a alternator recall that i am on a "wait list" like i have been since june for the brake booster. *tr

There have been 6 recalls on my car. i have had my name on the waiting list at my dealer, only to be told it could be about a year. i keep getting recall letters as i'm waiting for one thing and no parts available for another. i always have children in my car and feel extremely unsafe to drive everyday. the weather is getting dangerous and one of the recalls is on my brakes. i was told, "don't worry, it should be ok until the winter." well, the winter is here and i still have about 6 months left on the waiting list. how is one supposed to drive and feel safe, knowing my car can "stall without warning", have an "under hood fire" or have my "brakes fail" at any moment while in driving? what's even worse is, there's nowhere to turn because everywhere i call "sorry maam, there aren't any parts.." great! now i'm lost and risking my life on a day to day basis. help!!! *tr

Recall notice received in april. despite numerous visits to the dealership, the parts are not available and no estimated time frame has been provided. at this point, it is well beyond a reasonable time frame to have this defect corrected. *tr

There has not been an accident yet. this was the only place i found to file a complaint regarding a recall. this is not in regards to a accident but the concern of the risk of an accident related to the recall of the brake booster. this is a serious recall that is not being corrected fast enough and is becoming a great safety concern. i have been told that i am in the middle of 400 others in getting my brakes repaired. the danger if the brake booster freezes it could cause a crash not only inflicting injury on us but possibly other people. i do not take this lightly. why is it taking so long to have this problem resolved? i have talked several times to the dealer and called their recall assistance center to no avail. the dealer is only receiving small amounts of the shield to fix the cars and are continually waiting for more to come. this is not acceptable. does further action need to take place regarding this recall. possible legal action? i am not comfortable waiting until someone is killed before aggressive action is taken. I was told by my dodge dealer that dodge is sending only one brake repair a week. i have been waiting since august of 2014, they told me maybe by june of 2015 they might have my brake part. what is dodge's problem? *tr

Brought vechile in for recall on brake booster rusting. upon removing brake booster the mechanic found a leaking master brake cylinder. the masterbrake cylinder won't be available until 8-11-14 & another part of the brake booster which the dealer has no idea when he can get this part. as this is a new vechile with less then 9,000 miles i find this type of failure unexpected but more amazing a dealer can't get parts for 2 weeks or more. smell to me that dodge has a major braking issue they are trying to keep quiet. updated 4/24/2015 *js

My chrysler dealer has failed to replace chrysler's recalled brake booster and shield within a reasonable amount of time. i took my 2013 dodge durango to the premier chryslerjeep dodge ram of tracy, california back in june 2014; they tested the car and said they would contact me when the replacement brake booster and shield were in stock. i've called twice since then and was told that parts are still not in stock. i feel this is an unreasonable wait for a recall that poses a threat to the safety of me and my family. *tr

Received recall notice p14/nhtsa14v-154 from chrysler regarding the brake booster. asked for this to be addressed on the above scheduled appointment date of 06/10/2014. i was told by the service assistant she did not have the parts in, but they expected to have the parts in 2-4 weeks. she asked that i give her a call or send her an email to verify the parts were in and schedule an appointment. i had an appointment scheduled for 8am on friday, 07/12/14, and when i showed up i was told the dealership could not handle any of the scheduled appointments they had; they were only able to service oil changes. she said the electricity had been out the day before, their systems were still having trouble, and they could not handle the customer load. she said they had to take all the customers' information on paper and would call each customer back to schedule a new appointment. it is now 08/05/2014 and i have yet to hear from this dealership. *tr

I have been attempting to have a recall fixed since early june 2014. the nhsta recall number is 14v-154 and the manufacturer recall number is p14. i am in a major city and there are 13 dodge/chrysler dealerships in the area. i've called every two weeks for the past three months and have not been given an update yet. three months is getting ridiculous. my most recent call i was told by the person who claimed to be the maintenance and service manager that they don't have to give me a timeline and i will be called when i am called. *tr

I received via regular mail notice of safety recall p14/nhtsa 14v-154 for the brake booster perforations due to corrosion. i had contacted and left several messages with no call back to miami lakes automall, 16600 nw 57 ave, miami lakes, fl 33018 and phone # 305-558-1400 or 305-455-3683. this is the same auto dealer from where vehicle was leased and it is taken for regular maintenance services. i decided to go in person one saturday morning, to address this issue directly with service department. i was told to leave a photocopy with one of the service attendants and i will be contacted once part arrives to schedule appointment. they have a waiting list which i was not informed how they organize it nor how they plan ahead to address every impacted client. i have not been contacted yet to make appointment nor a courtesy call to follow up status of my service request. i called last friday, and again an known status was provided to me as for specific date i could take my vehicle to get parts involved replaced. your attention and assistance on this matter is appreciated it. thank you. *js
