El motor de mi durando 2005 de repente se apago, la lleve con el distribuidor y reseteo la computadora, pero como 3 mees mas tarde volvio a ocurrir, urge que analicen el problema mas a fondo. *jb
Coming to quick stop at a traffic light my 2005 dodge durango stalled. it restarted without any problem. *jb
Dt*: the contact stated while the vehicle was parked in a parking lot for about 10 minutes, a fire erupted from the driver's side dash panel area. although the occupants were not present when the fire began, a bystander noticed a fire and attempted to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher. the fire department was contacted and a report was taken. there was extensive damage to the inside instrument cluster and dash panel area. an insurance investigator determined there was a redundant capacitor on the pc board of the dash panel area. updated 5/10/2006 - *nm
Pulling up to a stop sign/light or turning into a parking lot/side street, the vehicle's power dies and engine stops. i have to roll to get out of the way with no power steering or brakes, turn on my hazards so other cars can go around me and know something is wrong, and try and get out of way. there are no warning signs, the car just dies. it takes several attempts to restart before car starts up again. the problem started very quickly after car was bought and happened 4 times. i brought it into dealer and they "reflashed" the computer. it has been ok for a while, but a few weeks ago it died once again. *nm
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the vehicle caught on fire while parked in the driveway. the vehicle was destroyed. the fire department extinguished the fire. there were no injuries. the failure and current mileage was 30,000. the garage sustained smoke damage. the contact has pictures and a fire report. the contact recently received recall #07v092000 for the electrical system: instrument panel. *ak
Bought vehicle 11/30/2005-used with 11,411 miles on vehicle from dealership. dodge chrysler jeep of winter haven, 299 cypress gardens blvd. winter haven florida 33880. 12/9/2005 first occurrence. idiot lights on dash on, same lights everytime(abs, brake, air bd,traction, check engine, speedometer,odometer,heater,a/c quits working. from 12/9/2005 to 2/7/2006 vehicle has been back to dealer 10 times for repair, the last time the vehicle was there 6 days, dealership cannot/will not repair vehicle. *jb
Incorrect mileage recorded by odometer: 2005 dodge durango - my self and several other owners of the dodge durango have complained to dealerships and daimler chrysler about inflated mileage reported by the odometer and inaccurate speedometer speeds - for the most part, the speedometer overstates speed by as much as 10% or more, which also overstates the odometer reading. that situation helps daimler chrysler to terminate their new car warranties before the actual mileage is reached - most cars indicating 39,000 miles, may indeed still be under the 36,000 mile warranty limit! *nm
Engine stalls
I purchased a 2005 dodge durango from delamaker dodge, watertown, ny, in dec of 2005. the vehicle had 218 miles on it. a few weeks later i was involved in an accident and hit a tree and telephone pole. dealmaker and the insurance company determined that the vehicle would not be totaled, but rather repaired. i have had nothing but problems with the vehicle. my biggest comcern is that the vehicle shuts off on me while operating. i have contacted chrysler and i am told that they can do nothing because it is a repair issue. dealmaker states that it is manufacture defect. most recently dealmaker drove my vehicle for 3 weeks and put 500 miles on it, but found no trouble. two hours after i picked the vehicle up it shut off on me and the check engine light came on. both are issues that have been ongoing and both were the reason they had my vehicle. the main computer shorted out and was replaced a few months ago. i was told that was a manufacturer defect as well.*jb
Suv stalls with i make a turn or just slow down. i almost hit someone making a turn because the car stalled. my car has been in the shop about 3 times for this problem. they looked at it and the dodge people and could not fix it. then they gave me a computer that would collect data about the car when the problem happened. i drove with the computer in the car for about 2 weeks. they did not find any information that would help them fix the car. then they replaced the ignition switch. the problem did not happen for a long time. but it has happened about 3 times after they did that. *jb
My 2005 dodge durango with the 5.7 liter hemi engine has stalled (engine died) on 4 separate occasions. in every case i was coming to a stop or turning. *nm
2005 dodge durango engine stalled. *ts *ref 10156266 during a sharp right turn the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the dealer installed a software patch but that did not solve the problem. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where they installed a front power train control module and some secondary unit which was supposed to fix the problem. three days later the vehicle stalled again while driving in a parking lot.
While driving 20 mph on a straight road on11/21/05 during a rain storm the abs light came on, thjen the air bag light came on, then the brake warning light, then the check engine, and finally all the warning light were on. they would not go off. the car did not stall. after shutting the engine down and restarting a few times all went out except the check engine. it went out a day later. *nm
I bought a 2005 dodge durango in june 2005. the first 9000 miles were great. no problems. in october 2005 the headlights/fog lights started to go on and off by themselves. the dealership moved the inspections sticker. did not resolve the problem. they then replaced the sensors and switched, did not correct the problem, they then replaced the circuit board, did not correct. they then had a tech from the factory look at the vehicle. they replaced the module. i picked up the car yesterday and on my way home from the dealer the lights went on and off again. i have sent the lemon law card to chrysler. i contacted chrysler again today about this issue. they basically have stated that it is up to the district manager to resolve this problem. i am waiting once again for him to call me back. the horn also blows by itself (this has happened twice), the radio has turned itself on and off by itself twice, the passenger side airbag light has came on when it should not and the drivers side airbag showed that it had deployed when in fact it did not. the outside temperature gauge on the overhead console did not work correctly (only one time.) i feel that i have been more then patient with these recurring problems. they have put a co-pilot on the car to no avail.*jb
While reversing out of driveway, my 2005 dodge durango with 2200 miles stalled and could not be started for another 10 minutes. all electrical and power shut off. had to push the vehicle out of the middle of the street. *nm
Purchased vehicle in march 2005, and within the first two days vehicle engine stalling at highway speeds while on the freeway. took vehicle to dealer, initially advised test drove and unable to duplicate. took vehicle to dealer again at a later date, reset memory. problem still recurred, back to dealer and dealer reflashed pcm. additionally, took to dealer accelerator assembly loose and bolt fell out while driving. accelerator very loose, part not available for 3 days, concerned that may be an ongoing safety issue with these vehicles. *nm
Vehicle stalled at a stop. no dash warning lights illuminated at stall. second time this has happened. vehicle taken to dealer for service after first incident. dealer stated that they cleared fault codes and drove for fifteen miles with no problem first time. i am taking back to a different dealer now. *jb
My wife was driving my daughter to pre-school, and she was crossing and turning at an intersection. suddenly, with no warning, the engine quit, leaving her with no brakes and no steering. luckily, she drifted to the curb, but if the traffic had been heavy, she and the baby could have been badly injured or killed. i experienced the exact same problem one day later. i immediately called my dealer, the dodge dealer in bellevue, washington, and told them about the problem. they told me to bring it in immediately, since they said there have been at least fifty similar problems with dodge hemi engines. they fixed it by flashing the chip in the computer. this is a very serious problem, and a recall needs to be announced as soon as possible. *nm
While sitting at a red light on 9/9/05 my 2005 dodge durango with 5.7 hemi engine shut itself down. after getting it started again the check engine light remained on. took to the dealer who did not write on the service order that the car stalled as i told them. dealer found no problem, and gave me a sheet stating that computers sometimes have hickups. while at the dealer, i met others with same problem on the 5.7 hemi engines. this motor apparently has a defect.*jb
Vehicle was in gear and either slowing to a stop or already stopped. the engine rpm's dropped below 500 and then recovered very briefly (~1 second) before stalling. the engine was idling very rough during the drop/recovery phase before stalling. this incident occurred 5 times within a 1 hour period. *jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. while driving at 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and the steering wheel seized. the failure recurred twice per week. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
Without warning, vehicle stalled with total loss of engine power, steering, brakes, lighting, etc... was able to put in park and re-start vehicle. occurred twice with a 5 week period; once on a warm sunny day while making 3 point turn and again on rainy day while making a right turn. luckily i was going slow enough that i was able to avoid oncoming vehicles. thus far the dealer has not been able to find the cause of the problem. they have however cleaned the throttle body and adjusted the idle. tomorrow they will replace an o ring in the transmission. i am concerned that although i have been able to avoid a collision so far, i may not be so lucky as treacherous winter driving conditions approach. note: i have done some research on various internet forums and it seems that this is a common problem with the durango and the ram 1500 with hemi engines and in all cases the mechanics have been unable to find the cause. *nm
My 2005 dodge durango has an engine stalling problem. it currently has 13000 miles on it. i bought it brand new in dec. since then it has stalled on us about 6 times at various speeds in drive and in reverse. i have called the local dealership 3 times now and nothing is being done about it. they continue to tell me that they have never heard of this problem and do not know what is causing it. this is a problem that concerns me because i use this vehicle to cart around my very young children so i need some thing reliable. please help to get this problem taken care of soon. *jb
Dt: the vehicle caught on fire on august 3, 2005. the interior dome light was stuck, and that was the only indication there was a problem. the fire department came and put out the fire. , it originated from dashboard around steering column. the dealership was suppose to have specialist come out, but they have not looked at it yet. *ak
Engine stalls at freeway/highway speeds causing loss of control - numerous electrical failures - transmission - a/c blows both cold & hot air at same time - power switches getting hot to touch - repairing dealer has been unable to fix - each time it is worked on - problems multiply after they flash/reprogrammed pcm/computer
On july 8, 2005 at 6:30 am, i opened my car door to go to work and there had been afire inside the car during the night, causing extensive damage to the interior. had the car towed to my state farm approved repair center. after repairs were started, the cause of the fire was determined by the repair shop to be a wire under the seat that was for electric seats which is not an option in my car. dodge was notified and they said to stop repairs until they sent an inspector to look at car. he came the following week and determined dodge was not at fault and sealed the file and was told to retain a lawyer if i wanted to find out why, otherwise too bad. i found a recall on 2001 dodge rams that was for the same exact problem and 2 reported such fires in 2001 durangos. my case is not an isolated incident and dodge refuses to take care of the problem. the nhtsa id is 01v253000. obviously dodge did nothing to correct the problem and has not recalled the 2002 dodges. please help me. valerie davis. *nm
Dt: the contact stated vehicle stalled intermittently. the vehicle was towed twice to a certified dealership. diagnostic testing was done. however, no codes were captured. the dealer reprogrammed the software twice. this has not solved the problem. the vehicle is in the dealership awaiting additional software updates. *ak
Dt: the vehicle shuts off while driving it happened without warning. car had been driven for about one minute the vehicle was only moving about 5 mph or less. the vehicle was put in park and restarted just fine. a month later the same thing happened at a stop sign, this time the vehicle shut off while sitting at stop. there was no warning this time either. owner doesnt remember if the electric in vehicle was off or not. this time the vehicle started right back again. then owner contacted dealership, there is nothing the dealer can do about it becuase no info in the system about it. the dealership needed the vehicle in order to inspect, then the owners couldnt take to dealer at that time because they needed the vehicle. this happened again with shutting off several times. then on june 2, at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle shutt off again. this time the vehicle started back up again and the vehicle was taken to dealer. the dealer reported no problem, the diagnostic computer showed no error codes. then stalled again the 24th of june. the vehicle was traveling about 45 this time, and making a left turn, the vehicle shut off in the middle of the intersection. the vehicle shut off again later that day, the vehicle were on, air conditioning, all shut off. the dash lights went out. there was no electricity in the vehicle except for the tail and head lights, and the vehicle had no brake lights, and this was dangerours becuase this time the vehicle shut off at night. the vehicle started again and was driven for the rest of the trip. then vehicle was towed home.
The new dodge 2005 with the hemi engine is stalling at point of acceleration. my wife and kids were in the car at a stop light and when she went to accelerate the car stalled. took it to the dealer and was told nothing was wrong...happened 7 more times. i have had the car for a month. someone is going to die if we don't get this resolved. i went to mycarstats.com and found many more people with the same problem! brand new dodge durangos 2005 cars stalling on on ramps, intersections and all we get is that they cant find the problem from the dealer and chrysler states they haven't heard of any issues. complainant # with chrysler is [xxx]. vin [xxx]. *js information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
Vehicle stalls when making a sharp turn at slow speeds. this has happened on at least 4 occasions usually when turning into a parking space or my driveway. i brought the vehicle into the dealer and they said they could not duplicate the failure and no codes were present from the onboard diagnostics. the date shown is the most recent date of the occurrence, the first incident happened shortly after the vehicle was purchased. *jb
Dt: the airbag light continued to come on. the vehicle has been to the dealer numerous times. there have been no crashes. this was a brand new vehicle. repairs were done on the ignition switch and instrument cluster. this was thought to be related to the reason why the air bag light continued to come on. the air bags had not deployed. the light for the passenger's side airbag and the driver's side continued to illuminate intermittently. the vehicle is currently at the dealer for this problem. *ak updated 12/27/05. *jb
I bought my 05 durango back in may of 05 and i've had to deal with all three of the major complaints, the fuel spewing out, the stalling, and the 4x4 activating! the fuel thing i always noticed but always thought it was something that just happened. the 4x4 engaging happened when it still had the power train warranty so i took it to the dealer to get it repaired. the good thing is that they fixed it, the bad thing is that it wasn't covered under the warranty! they told me that they replaced the 4x4 control module and i haven't had a problem since then! i'm not positive if that's the name of the module. this was back in 2008 and i haven't had that problem since then. hopefully that helps some that are dealing with that same issue! the stalling happens here and there, not too often and usually when i'm at a stop sign. i love my durango, just hate the way dodge is just leaving all its customers on their own when there should be recalls for all these issues!! acting like they've never heard of those problems when every owner has the same issues! ill never buy dodge again! and it sucks because im looking into buying a new car, and i like the new durango. but there's no way i'll buy dodge, or chrysler for that matter! *tr
My husband & i purchased a 2005 dodge durango with a hemi about a month ago. about 2 weeks ago (may 11, 2005), i put the durango in reverse (i was in a stop position), and the engine just died out. i put it in park and started the engine again. i drove to my mom's to pick her up. again i was in a stop position, put the durango in reverse, and the engine died out again. after i dropped off my mom, i immediately took the durango to the dealer. they kept it there and tested it for several hours. nothing happened. they could not verify my complaint. they did tell me, however, that the computer needed to be re-programed. this past saturday, my husband & i drove the durango to kona for the day. while driving up a ramp at one of the hotels, the engine died out again! first thing monday morning (5/23/2005), i called the dealer's service dept. and explained what had happened. (i spoke to sherri) they checked with their service manager, who along with the mechanic, called star. they told them to insall a "co-pilot". they (the manager, service advisor and the mechanic, along with myself) do not think that makes any sense. the durango just dies out, and the co-pilot would only make sense if myself or my husband had the time to press the button before the truck died out. in this case, the truck just dies out, so we don't have the time to press the button first. i'm afraid that the truck will die out while driving and will cause an accident.
I have an 05 hemi durango limited with 3,300 miles on it. since new the vehicle has occassionally died when making low speed turns. the dealer has informed me that the pcm flash provided by dodge has not corrected the problem and they are still working on a fix. overall the vehicle has stalled five times. i have also filed a similar complaint for my 05 ram 2500 with the hemi engine.
Vehicle stalling.
New 2005 dodge durango stalls unexpectedly at low speeds. dealer replaced ignition 1st time; no repair done 2nd time since they couldn't find reason; replaced recalled fuel tank;now this time they won't do anything.
When coming to a stop or slowing down, while turning the vehicle it stalls out , dealership flash a new program in the computer, happened again about a week later after this was supposedly fixed , also stalls when you first start the vehicle and put it into reverse. *jb
Dt: when coming to a stop vehicle died. once at a stop sign. vehicle died was when the gas applied. there were no dash lights when the vehicle diesd this was a 2005 vehicle. there had been 4 stalling problems. the vehicle idles in high and whines. the idle is not all the time. vehicle has been in the dealership for repairs 3 or 4 times. the climate was not a factor. the vehicle had contiually had ongoing problems. the dealership tried to fix the stalling problem. the computer has been reset , and an idle switch was added. right now consumer is waiting for the tools from chrysler to fix the recall part. the consumer called in advance for an appointment. dealer kept the vehicle all day, but they vdidn't have the correct tools.*ak
