Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that while driving any speed or coming to a stop, the engine would stall in a jerking motion. the vehicle restarted and resumed normally. the failure recurred after the vehicle was refueled and most recently, the engine warning indicator remained illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer numerous times and they were unable to duplicate or locate the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unavailable.
After filling the gas tank the vehicle stalls periodically. the issue has become worst over time. the last time my son was driving with me in the car and stall in the middle of the highway. he was 16 and still in the learning stage of driving. the time before we were pulling out of a gas station as we were entering traffic the engine stalled. lucky we were not involve in an incident. *tr
Vehicles stalling while driving, mostly while decelerating. seems to occur more frequently with a full fuel tank and while pulling a trailer, but has also occurred with a half a tank. no problem restarting after stall. started occurring more frequently in june of 2013. has happened at least 6 times in the past 18 months. *tr
The engine will stall after every fill-up. it stalls within 15 seconds after starting it up at the gas station. it will then stall repeatedly at intersections and every time the car comes to a stop. in addition, it has stalled while making right hand turns and misfires and stumbles while at speed. the stalling/misfiring episodes do not occur once 2-3 gallons of gas have been consumed. this situation is extremely dangerous as i have been nearly rear ended as traffic started to pull away from a green light, and also stalled at intersections while making right turns. the chrysler dealer said nothing was wrong since they didn't find any codes or tsb's regarding this problem. i have taken the car to an independent garage and they found a lot of chatter on their mechanic help websites. they think it might be the emission control that sits on top of the gas tank. the top gas in the tank is flooding over to the engine and stalling it out. since chrysler nor anyone else can say what definitively is going on i have cautiously not been filling the tank. this car is dangerous since the next owner may not be aware of this issue.
Vehicle stalled after refueling. filling the gas tank to full without 'topping off' will cause the car's engine to stall without any prior warning. no dtcs/miles are set. can be restarted with some difficulty. the stall will occur at any engine/vehicle speed and will happen within the first 5 minutes of driving the car after refueling. the problem can be avoided by not filling the tank past 3/4 full. have tested this 'work-around' at the same gas station & pump. *tr
After filling tank with gas the car stalls a few times once you start driving away. it can also happen if you park your car after filling with a full tank. it seems you must gun the engine to prevent the stalling. it happens intermittently. it just happened 2 fill ups in a row and sometimes it could be months before it happens again. at first i thought it was bad gas but this happens to frequently. what is causing this problem? my car has been maintained extremely well. i went to my dealer and they had no recall or knew nothing about the problem. *tr
After refueling engine stalled. hard restart in busy traffic. problem continues today. *tr
Engine stalls at least once after refueling. the dealer replaced the fuel-line purge valve last year, but it didn't fix the problem. i was told on several occasions that it was bad gas that was causing the problem, but i've tried using several brands of fuel without any luck. i don't drive the vehicle that much, but i have had a few near accidents because the engine accelerates before shutting off. *tr
The car stalls at random after a fuel fill up. eventually it will run normally, however it happens multiple times first and puts me in a dangerous position when it stalls in traffic. i have had both fuel pumps replaced last year and it seemed to help for a while, now the problem is back. *tr
Our 2006 chrysler 300 srt8 dies after fueling the gas tank to full. it has died in intersections were we have almost been hit and in turns car dies, locks up and there is no power anything. we have taken it to the dealership 4 times and continuously pay money to turn run diagnostic, only to hear " we cannot duplicate the problem" i have spent $400.00 to be told there is nothing wrong.car becomes very hard to restart. once i get the vehicle started, again the stalling starts, this will happen several times before the car remains on. as i drive home, i could feel the car "sputtering" or hesitating like it wanted to shut down again. when starting car in the morning it feels like it wants to die. please help this car is my family's main transportation and i fear that one day this issue will cause a crash. i have a 3 year old and a baby on the way. help!!! chrysler does not care about lives, only the bottom line. *tr
After filling up at a gas station, my car stalled as i was getting into traffic. this is ridiculously dangerous. it stalled again a couple more times and then it was fine after about 15 minutes. this happened again and again after refueling. some people are saying its the evap canister. apparently there's a valve that gets stuck open and let's liquid fuel flood the engine. it's supposed to only allow fuel vapors to get to the engine. *js
After filling my gasoline tank and driving away the engine quit running while driving down the city street or highway. while still rolling forward i put the car in neutral and attempted to restart the engine. i always succeeded in restarting the car while it was rolling forward. however, the stalling would repeat itself two to three more times before the car stopped doing this. i reported this to my dealership who said they knew nothing about this problem and had no solutions. after months of repeated experiencing this problem i started to fill my tank only to about 3/4th full and the stalling was solved. however, after hitting some rough road after a 3/4th filling (the gasoline got sloshed about, i am sure),the engine stalled on me. on june 12, 2012 i asked the dealership, overland park jeep, chrysler, dodge, in overland park, ks to start replacing gasoline tank parts. they installed a 4891427ab detector-natural vacuum detecti....., a solenoid-proportional purge and a canister-vapor. (their invoice #429537). this did not solve the stalling problem. on march 26, 2013 i finally gave up on the problem and asked opjcd to replace the saddle-bag gasoline tanks. their invoice 452851 covered the installation of a 68051891 aa tank-fuel, o-ring-fuel pump and level unit. with three complete gasoline tank fill up's i have had no problems with stalling. i am writing to you after reading, in this mornings newspaper, about similar problems being looked into by your agency and i wanted to report what happened to me and what i did about it. opjcd service man told me they would reimburse me for my expenses if a recall was made on my car. i paid a total of $1,453.90 to get my 2006 chrysler 300c, i hope, fixed. thank you. *tr
Most of the time, the engine will stall at a stop with all gauges dropping to zero. this also happens when the car is moving down the roadway. engine does not start smoothly. most times it takes at least two attempts to start it. sometimes upon restart the gauges remain at zero. upon start, engine will run for a brief time and will run maybe 1 block or so before stalling again. it will run without incident until the next episode. there may be a spread of 3 to 4 weeks between incidents. sometimes the engine speed jumps up without accelerator input making the car leap forward. this has happened once to me. sometimes when the engine is restarted and put into gear, the transmission does not engage immediately, but after a very brief delay causing a "jump" into gear when it does engage. the esp bas light comes on a majority of the time this happens. sometimes the gauges all drop to zero while the car is running. almost always, i can feel in the running of the engine that something is not quite (almost imperceptive missing) right before this happens. i took the car to a chrysler dealership immediately after this happened and asked them to read the codes. they told me many codes had been recorded. *tr
After filling the gas tank the vehicle is prone to stall. this can happen at random times and speeds. if you only fill the tank up 3/4 of the way it seems to alleviate the problem. no trouble codes are set. after stalling the vehicle can sometimes be restarted immediately, other times it might have to sit for 5 minutes. *tr
After filling the fuel tank with gas and entering the freeway the car stalled. every time i fill the car up with gas the fuel tank will just stall. i took the car to the dealer and was told that i would have to have the fuel tank and lines replaced. this is a serious safety hazard. when the car shuts off the steering wheel locks up and you must come to a complete stop before putting the car in park to restart it; all while trying not to be rear-ended by coming traffic. i continue to have the problem today. i took my car in for maintenance and was told that there's now a recall on the fuel tank, but due to the massive number of recalls, the part is on back-order. *tr
The first time i had this problem, i filled up my car after a trip, and upon leaving the gas station my engine stalled and the car would not come back on. i could not get the car to crank and when the engine did come on once the rpms would not settle and they kept dipping to almost zero before the engine cut off. i had the car towed to a repair shop where they were unable to fix the issue. i've had this happen about five times and i finally had one repair shop tell me to not fill my gas tank up all the way and it should prevent the cut offs. i then failed an emissions test and had to have my gas cap replaced. i thought that this had solved the problem so i tried to fill the tank up all the way again and it immediately cut off after starting it up. i was able to rev the engine and use up some of the gas and managed to get the car home with the rpms constantly dipping almost to zero. the car cut out at a stop light and i then had to get it started again after sitting in the intersection stalled. i've had my car inspected by two chrysler dealers, a few independent repair shops, and also a nissan dealer where i know the head mechanic. the only answers i've gotten were that it is a faulty o2 sensor and needs a new gas tank. *tr
Engine stalling after fueling. we first suspected bad fuel, but soon learned we were not alone in this issue. we waited years for the local dealer to finally admit to a problem with the fuel tank rollover valve. chrysler then issued a lifetime warranty on the tank. as soon as the lifetime warranty on the tank was issued we took the vehicle to our local chrysler dealer and was told we were # 6 on the list waiting on tanks that are on back order. i checked status this past week and the dealer said he now has a stack of back orders for these tanks. what good is the lifetime warranty if the company is unable to provide parts support. we really enjoy this auto but the stalling is getting more common and we feel it is becoming more dangerous to drive. *tr
After refueling, the car stalled while making a left hand turn onto a busy highway. all the engine lights came on. car was hard to restart. at the next intersection while the car was stopped, it stalled again. this continued to happen intermittently over the years. had it looked at by chrysler while still under extended warranty, they said they could find nothing wrong. lately, this has happened every time we put gas in the car. if driving on the expressway after a fill up, sometimes the car will sputter and temporarily loose acceleration. *tr
When filling the gas rank (no topping off) the motor would stall out, had car towed to service garage only to find the car would start. this has happened 2 times, after that it would occur at every fill, it has now gotten to the point where the car stalls out between 2 and 10 times, we don't dare go on the highway for at least 1/2 hour for fear of stalling in traffic! web search indicates this is a very common defect with this model, was told repair would require replacing the gas tank and fuel canister because fill pipe is too high on factory original tank? sounds like a defective factory part that needs dealing with for safety concerns, thank you much for your attention! I've been having a problem with my car stalling after i fill up at the gas station for a few years now. i read that chrysler was not recalling for this reason so i just read forums and tried not to fill up my gas tank but sometimes i forget and the problem continues. *tr
After filling up the gas tank the car stalled multiple times and was very difficult to start. this happened several times before it would run properly. this happens every time i fill the gas tank. the solution has been to not fill the tank. chrysler knows this is a problem--the have been able to recreate it in their test. *tr
We were driving cross country from michigan to texas on the highway. we were in the middle lane going 65 miles per hour. the car stalled and it wouldn't start up again. my husband couldn't control the car. he put the flashers on. fortunately no one hit us. cars started driving around us. he was finally able to start the car. we had the kids in the car and it felt like we were stalled forever. we were afraid for the rest of the 2 day drive. i went straight to the chrysler dealership the next day after getting back from the trip. they checked the car and said that they couldn't get the car to stall, so they said they couldn't do anything. it had stalled again the following year. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without any warnings. the contact mentioned that the failure recently started to occur after refueling. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they would contact him at a later date. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 193 and the current mileage was 36,000.
(11-9-2006) car stalled 4 times in a row. the stalling has continued up to yesterday (9-15-2013). the car would stall at a stop or at freeway speeds and at random times from a few days up to 3 or 4 months. the dealer never had a solution. i have replaced many electrical components recommended by the dealer including the pcm. before i changed the pcm, i would have to shift into neutral and turn the switch to restart the car. after i replaced the pcm the car will still stall, but then will "kick start" itself if i am going over 25 mph. sometimes the car will stall 2 or 3 times and then run great for a month or 2. it is always random. i have looked into renting a blackbox to install in my car to capture what the problem is, however the dealer says that a recorder for my car doesn't exist. i still drive this car with caution, my wife no longer drives this car which was hers.. *tr
