Problems with 2006 Chrysler 300C ENGINE

On average, the 2006 Chrysler 300C starts to “feel” problems with the ENGINE and its various aspects after 84 211 miles.

Recently reported ENGINE problems on 2006 Chrysler 300C

Car continuously dies or stalls while driving. my wife has also been almost rear ended or hit multiple times due to this issue. because the car will die while making a turn or at a stop light. the car will also cut out while driving on the freeway at 75 mph. the car will sometimes die and will not re-start leaving her stuck in traffic. i have taken the vehicle multiple times to the dealership as well as other mechanics and they keep telling me its the pcm which has been replace three times.

The car has a ticking noise from under the engine and it won't go above 25mph. the car also shuts off if it's idoling after being driven.

I have had constant issues with the control arms, tie rods, and the door handles are all broken. i had to replace my radiator twice now. i love my car, but i am highly disappointed with the costs that i have had with this car. the radiator issues have come while the car was in motion. my engine died without warning while i was driving. i never had any warnings prior to the motor blowing. i have regular maintenance done to my car, but a new engine, 2 radiators, tie rods, and control arm repairs/changes seem to be the continuum for my car. the door handles are cosmetic and have not been repaired. i have records from my dealership and another place i entrust with my vehicle.

Car has low idle approx 500rpm should be at least 700 stalls when in gear at a red light. potential safety problem if it stalls when light turns green could get rear ended. 1000's of complaints of this on internet. chrysler has known this problem for 10 yrs with this hemi 5.7 motor with no idle adjustment possible. idle is computer controlled and dearership can not adjust it. very simple very cheap fix. a computer patch to allow dealership to adjust idle. dealership says there is no fix for problem. told to clean throttle body i did idle went down. dangerous and stupid on chrysler part very poor and dangerous cust serv.

2006 chrystler 300c 5.7l hemi will randomly die when sitting idle, and while in mid drive. this happens on a highway at 75mph or in town at 30mph or at a stop light 0mph. this is very dangerous to everyone in and outside of the vehicle. the engine will stall causing it either a.)die or b.) lunge forward and possibly hit another vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that after refueling the fuel tank, the vehicle engine turns off and on intermittently. the dealer cedar city chrysler dodge jeep ram (1010 n main st, cedar city, utah 84721) stated that the vehicle was not on the recall list. the manufacturer was also contacted and was unable to provide any further assistance. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 94,500.

As i'm driving my car it will shut off/ stall in the middle of traffic.does not matter if i stop at a red light/ stop sign, driving fast/ slow, highway/ street, turning a corner/ parking the car will turn off. after taking it to 2 different shops and the dealer. no one can find the problem. it is still unknown. i'm scared to drive it but i have to work.

2006 chrysler 300c. consumer writes in regards to engine failure. *ld the consumer stated the vehicle was firmly locked in park. the vehicle was repaired. *js

I was driving on freeway and all of a sudden the engine completely shut off losing all power. i was almost rear-ended as i drift to the side of the road. i turned key to off position and turned back on and it started. then as i was driving again the engine started lurching and stuttering and the engine shut off then turned back on. this happened 4 more times. this morning on my way to work it did it again turned off on freeway almost causing an accident at 70 mph. i see online there are many complaints of same issue. i called the chryselr dealer and they would not even listen to the issue but offered a $1800 fix, same fix that is recorded online that doesnt work

I was driving one day my chrysler 300 c 5.7 hemi shut off in the middle of the freeway i pulled over to the side of the road car coasted cause everything shut off i put it in park tried to restart car wouldn't start did it a few times car started and died idled rough felt like i was running outa gas would stay at the right roma keep stalling out so i gave it gas and car stopped shaking and ran fine a month later did the same thing this time check engine light came on and said random multi misfire all cylinders i spent 1800 replacing the coil packs plugs and still didn't fix it turns out the valve seat dropped and chewed one piston up all too heck needs a new motor only had the car for $ months has 112,000 miles on it don't have the money for new motor cars just sitting with head off and valve seat is gone

My car will stall at any time. on the freeway and in town. it has no warnings. i have been almost rear ended honked and stuck in a traffic jams. i am scared to drive it anywhere. its had new gas tank, new computer, throttle sensor egr valve and has no codes to go by to fix it. its been at the dealership where i bought it and they keep wanting more money to try and fix it while just guessing. different mechanics have driven it home and it stalls on them but they still can't figure it out. its been at the dealership for almost 2 weeks.

It dropped the #7 valve seat and never overheated. the vehicle ran fine, until i got back in the next day and started it. it immediately happened at that time. this is a common problem with this engine, and to fix costs upwards of $8000.

Car overheated and i shut it off. tried to start it after it cooled down and it would not start. checked cylinders for compression and found 6 with o compression so seems to be a valve seat failure.

The chrysler start with no problem drive around stop park and get out the car. return in a minute no crank start wait 15 or 20 minute the car will start. this problem accured 2 or 3 times a day after i park. fuses ok, new starter, new battery, new tranmission nothing display on dishbroad or diagnostic machine several machanic unable to determent the problem no reading the car is ok but car contiue not to crank start i only have less than 50,000 miles after i was told that i needed a new transmission from a bronx new york dealership?

Engine stalling after fill up

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. while driving various speeds or while parked, the vehicle stalled and the interior and exterior lighting flickered without warning. the vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. the contact took the vehicle to zimmer chrysler dodge jeep ram (1086 burlington pike, florence, ky 41042 (859) 525-1344) to be serviced for nhtsa campaign numbers: 16v352000 (air bags) and 15v313000 (air bags) and notified them of the failures. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 102,373.

My 2006 chrysler 300c srt8 6.1l engine stalls randomly when stopped, coming to a stop or cruising speed. sometimes it'll take months for reoccurrence then out of nowhere it happens while, engine stalled. happens while make a turn at a light also. starts back up and sometimes stalls instantly. after like the third stall check engine light comes on and the only fault code is p0700. bought the car in 2015 and less than two months later is when i experienced my first occurrence. took it to the dealership three times that year and they said they could not duplicate the problem or figure out what's wrong. about five months later (2016) it happens again, engine stalls out of nowhere on the freeway. this time it wouldn't start so i had it towed back to the dealership. after two months of them having my car they said it was the transmission control module so i agreed to replace it. two months later same thing again so obviously the transmission control module wasn't the problem. might i add that randomly while driving there is a hard "buck" from the transmission, like it wants to lock up. i've been in and out of the dealership with this problem for two years now and chrysler claims to not know what the problem is. i am terrified every time i'm in this vehicle. i feel it is an accident waiting to happen. i'm still paying for this car but need to know what the issue is and how to solve it. dealership says there is no recalls or updates available for my car.

Initially the vehicle began to shut off and restart at various speeds ranging from 45-65 mph, mileage on the vehicle when the problem surfaced was approx .138,000. in 2016 after replacement of the pcm ,fuel tank, alternator, solenoid, battery, and cam shaft sensor the problem sporadically reoccurred every 300 miles, and failure has increased in frequency and now occurs regularly but sporadically at low speeds of 1-20 causing a full stall with no restart. the failure is typically at a light and when tempting aa turn. it has been observed during the high speed incidents, all electrical systems are in failure- dash lights go off, the analog rpm and speedometer gauges spontaneously drop to zero, and then the entire system restarts and gauges resume normal readings, all occurring within a few seconds at most. additionally the vehicle will not start after sitting for 3 hours, the electrical works but engine will not turn over. after each incident car was taken for a diagnostic reading and either no fault code was registered, or an engine communication failure code occurs. this has been an on going issue for the past 2 years.

My srt8 will stall shortly after filling up with fuel. at the moment of stalling, obviously the power steering and power brakes fail to work, which is very dangerous irregardless of where you are....

I fill my car up at gas station and while driving my car will completely cut off out of nowhere

After filling fuel tank in a gas station and starting warm engine the engine died after traveling approximately 300 feet while making a turn. very dangerous situation. engine re-started but continued to die on and off for approximately 2 miles. have not driven car since.

Tamara recall engine has stopped several times while i have been driving it and some while stopped at a red light. the power steering stops and become difficult to steer and i get afraid until i can fight it and stop and restart the engine. have not taken it in for repair yet.

Mechanic said the exhaust valve dropped in the cylinder and caused catastrophic failure, needs the complete new engine. i have replaced the oil vigorously every 4500 mile with synthetic oil. the car has 189000 miles on it and there are tons of reports that show this is very common after 100k miles.

The check engine light of this cars constantly stayed on after countless attemps to "fix" the problem for years. finally the engine just died. it was serviced repeatedly, with tune ups, spark plug changes, but the engine always misfired shorlty after. the car is just 10 years old. there should never be a problem like this on a high quality vehicle.

Started experiencing problems last year. car would cut off without warning, cut off while in a turn and i was almost hit by oncoming traffic. took it to the dealer, dealer stated it was pcm. had the control module fixed ($1000 repair) and now recently we have been experiencing an issue where the car wants to cut off at all speeds. today, my husband drove it to the gas station and it cut off on him and then wouldn't start back up. it started up a few min after sitting but traffic was too busy so we were unable to drive it home. it is still parked at the gas station and we are hoping well be able to get it home before having to call a tow truck. replaced spark plugs 1 1/2 weeks ago because we assumed it was misfiring (when it was wanting to cut off). we've changed the camshaft (prior to having the pcm replaced) and egr valve as well. there is no check engine light but have still attempted to get codes read... no codes. this seems to be an ongoing issue that chrysler needs to take care of. i will never buy another car that chrysler has had a hand in making..... how many complaints need to take place before you realize that this will kill someone... but i guess you'd rather a lawsuit on your hands for a death rather then fixing all these cars the right way. #unsatisfiedbuyer took a shot at this beautiful car and am sadly disappointed 2006 300c 5.7l hemi. whats the point of having such a beautiful car if you can't even drive it.

Engine failure. no warning lights. engine felt like it was running on less the 8 cylinders. i pulled into the first gas station to shut the car off and check all fluid levels (all fine). started the motor, would not idle and died. turned the key again and heard the motor completely clunk around out of sync. that was the end of my 2006 300c

Shut off at anytime, like driving slow and everytime i hit the corner of my block same spot always shut off .once in the freeway was scarry also motor would shake, one day drive good next would be bad, took it to many places no one can pin point problem, spent lots of money in parts and never got problem fixed until moter gave out with cylinder damage at 90000 miles .always keep it maintenance good disapointed would not buy chrysler anymore before this had a new yorker that cought on fire electrical issue

Dropped valve seat at 72k miles. all maintainance done on time. one day the car just wouldn't start, took it to the shop, found a drop valve on cylinder 5.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. while driving at various speeds, the vehicle staled without warning. the vehicle was restarted and operated normally. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the cause of the failure was unable to be determined. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 40,000. the vin was not available.

Stopped for gas. when i tried to start the car, it would not start. i had it towed home. then had it towed to mechanic. i was told the engine was shot. the car has approximately 56,000 miles on it. ...updated 03/13/17 *bf

The car will stall unexpectedly. often when idling at a stoplight, and sometimes when i am driving the oil light warning comes on, the engine cuts out, and power steering ceases to work. i must restart the car and rev the engine before proceeding, it has yet to happen while driving at high speeds on the freeway. on more than one occasion i have had the local chrysler dealership mechanics look at the car, and the problem still persists, usually with increased frequency after filling the gas tank to full. to reiterate, often when i am idling at a stoplight the chrysler 300 stalls. but this sometimes happens when i am in motion driving down a road as well. the mechanics i have had look at my car have found nothing wrong. but it usually happens with greater frequency right after i fill the gas tank to full.

I own a 2006 chrysler 300c. since 2013, i have experienced issues with the vehicle stalling while driving at low speeds. the car stops completely, sometimes restarting on its own, sometimes it does not. chrysler replaced the fuel tank in 2015, stating that was the cause of the issue, but the car continues to stall. most recently, it stopped while merging onto a busy highway, while driving with my wife and children in the car. the car randomly turns off, no warning. now the vehicle stopped and refuses to start at all.

After fueling, car stalled while in motion at slow speed exiting parking lot. stalled again a mile further when entering garage, both times while turning. car has 19000 miles.

2006 chrysler 300c. car has 84,000 miles. drove around today for a half hour. parked car. restarted car in 5 minutes, it made a horrible sound and car started shaking, ran rough and then died. would only restart with foot on gas and ran very rough. took it to firestone and they said that the valve/cyliner #5 dropped. engine is shot, unless i pay to have it re-bult or replaced. car is not even worth it. already had to have a re-bult transmission on car at 68,000 miles. car is a joke and so is chrysler, never buying another one of their products again. oil was changed regularly. horrible manufacturing in this car, from engine to trans to gas tank issue to electical. car is a lemon.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact could not start the vehicle. when the vehicle started, it made a loud rattling noise. the contact also noticed white smoke. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 93,000. the vin was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. after driving 55 mph and parking the vehicle, it failed to restart. once the vehicle restarted, the engine idled low and the accelerator pedal had to be depressed in order to keep the engine running. the manufacturer was notified. the contact had the vehicle towed home. the contact received information from the independent mechanic who stated that there was a piece of piston that fractured and was rattling around in the combustion chamber. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 170,342.

Car randomly stalls, at any speed, dash lights flash on and off, wipers turn on by them self , horn sounds by itself. had it at the dealership for 2 months, had at sometimes 40+ codes come up on the computer. changed multiply modules they cant figure it out

Car stalls unexpected after fueling up

The frontend has death wobble going on the highway more than 65mph i've had the whole front end replaced without solving the problem, the motor also was replaced due to one of the cylinder going right threw the motor and it happened again after motor over heated a year later

While on a curvy road after dark, at 45 mph, the electrical system shut down, dash lights flashed and went off, engine died. 40 mph on a curvy road with no lights. after 20 seconds it all came back on. had no problems for 3 months. electrical system has momentarily shut down on 4 other occasions since then. on 12/08/15 my wife was in line at the dandridge elementary school picking up my grandson. while in car pickup line with the transmission in drive, the dash lights came on, the vehicle accelerated (surged forward) then died. engine died 5 times before she could get it home. this would be called a near miss accident in a workplace setting.car is operating normally at this time. i held an ase master technician certification and in my opinion it is a dangerous electrical condition. i realize that someone must die in order to get this problem fixed and that is a shame.

I came out of home depot to a car that wouldn't start this give a jump but we could here something grinding in the motor at first i thought maybe a belt broke or the fan was loose the noise was scary the car wouldn't stay on sc i called for a tow to the dealership. the results were i need a new engine.. the #5 cylinder dropped an intake valve and damaged the engine $9448. i purchase this vehicle brand with 74 miles it now has 78000 all the maintenance was done at the dealership. there was no apparent reason for the engine dying no warning system said ok this car has all the bells and whistles. now i have a beautiful shell of a car without an engine please someone help me thanks

Upon filling up the car with gas, the car stalled less than 500ft from the gas station. the car restarted and i drove 1/16th of a mile and as i was pulling out into traffic the car stalled again. the car has approximately 39300 miles on it.

I was picking my son up from school, when i try to start the car. the car wouldn't kick over, the engine was shaking and running extremely rough once i did get it started, to make a long story short, a valve went through the engine block causing total engine failure. a new engine block was needed (jaspers) at the cost of over $6000. i contacted chryslers cooperate office, and was told that there's no recall on the engine, and being that the warranty expired there was nothing they can do, i was just stuck with a useless car with a blown engine. i think that this is so pitiful for a multi billion dollar company to stick all of these chrysler/dodge owners with vehicles with known engine problems!. just look on this site, or just google chrysler 300/c & dodge engine problems, you'll find 100's, if not 1000's of chrysler/dodge owners with the same type of engine failure. shame on chrysler!. i know that putting a recall on all of these engines would be a very costly thing to do, however it's the right thing to do!....shame on chrysler!. i would never buy a dodge/chrysler vehicle again!....

Took vehicle to barber shop anti skid light came on without a wet or slick rd condition..took car to mechanic to have it checked out .pulled into garage parking car shook violently and shut off. would not crank..the mechanic opened the vehicle up timing chain was intact ,found the camshaft broke.

My 300c 2006 engine shuts off. sitting at a light or driving. dealer had it, spent 1800.00. they did not fix. have it at a garage. they have replaced most sensors. just spent 390 dollars on a new controller board (brain) its now more frequent. started happening 2 years ago but not this frequent. did a coolant flush, transmission flush,

My car has been displaying erratic behavior for about the last seven months. the more recent problem i've experienced is that my car shuts off at a complete stop and sometimes as i'm braking to come to a stop at a light and power steering locks up as it shuts off. i feel this is extremely unsafe being i've dodged a few accidents already because of this issue. what if i'm at a light and getting ready to turn or make a u turn and it shuts off in on coming traffic, or if i'm on the highway and i have to suddenly brake and it shuts off at high speeds. i'm not sure what can be done but i hope i can get help some way, some how. i feel my life depends on it.

I was driving the car from work i made a left turn onto the street that leads me to my house the vehicle stopped i tried to make it start back up nothing happened. i called the tow place to have it towed to chrysler they took a look at it the next day saying the engine has seized it needs a new engine.

I'd like to make a formal complaint against chrysler for complete engine failure, without warning, of my 2006 chrysler 300c and respectfully request an investigation into the issue. on 7/17/15, i went into the store with my child, returned to my car and it would not start. the system read, "system ok." smoke blew from the tailpipe. finally it started, but shook violently. grateful i was not on a highway alone or while driving. i could have been hit had this occurred in traffic. it has cost me $560 (three tows to repair shop #1, chrysler dealership #2 and finally home and a charge from each repair shop to look at and assess the damages (not to mention the cost of the rental cars). end result, "piston #4 damaged, missing large piece of piston top, need to replace engine, estimated cost $8093." the service tech said he'd never seen anything like it. based on numerous reports of complete engine failure found online while researching the cost of replacement engines at http://www.carcomplaints.com/chrysler/300c/2006/engine/complete_engine_failure.shtml, i now don't believe that at all. chrysler has proven to be untrustworthy. there, the 2006 chrysler 300c has the most overall complaints of complete engine failure. see worst model year graphic at http://www.carcomplaints.com/chrysler/300c/, based on number of customer complaints. it seems the 2006 chrysler 300c engine itself is simply the problem and chances are a new engine too would likely fail. the chrysler dealership said, 'we'd just junk your car' (a fully-loaded 2006 i paid $44k for brand new). now, with 94000 miles on it, it is junk? there is no explanation for what happened. something is very wrong at chrysler. in 2013, something caused complete battery drain. driver door began falling apart. after filling up, my car stalled in traffic while driving and idle. maintenance gets done at the dealership.

Vehicle stalled out at about 5 mph. next day vehicle stalled out at 65 mph on interstate. very dangerous situation. repair facility could find no problem, had expensive major tuneup, but problem still exists.
