Hello, i am a current chrysler vehicle owner and ive been having issues where my 2006 chrysler 300c srt8 which just shuts off without any warnings or trouble codes reported to the cars computer. there are times when im driving on a busy highway and the car will just stall out. each time i take my car to the auto mechanics, they arent able to identify anything wrong as there arent any codes detected. my vehicle even stalled while at the mechanics shop and they still werent able to assist as no codes were triggered. over the past 2 years, ive spent thousands of dollars and countless hours, stuck on major highs as well as replacing car components in a big effort of trying to resolve this concern. to date, i am still experiencing these anxieties. ive been out on relative web sites looking this problem up and it appears this has been happening to thousands of chrysler srt/srt8 owners and they are dealing with same concerns that i am. im including a url link to one of the blog of 10+ pages of complaints from owners who are lost, confused and dont know what to do. http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-47313.html one of the major reasons why i am asking for some assistance is both awareness to the general public, as there could be serious accidents as a result. another reason is a proactive effort at hoping to get assistance to get feedback from chrysler to help resolve these concerns.
I had just refueled (filled up - did not continue fueling after the pump auto-stopped) and continued driving to my destination (about 3-5 minutes). i had just completed a left turn, approaching a red light, so i was "coasting" at about 15 mph when the engine died. luckily, i was beside of a vacant parking lot and was able to veer into the lot and off the highway. however, in doing so, i noticed that i had lost steering capabilities and it was very difficult to steer the car off the highway. it was a good thing i wasn't driving at a higher speed and going around a curve, because i would've surely wrecked. the instrument panel was still lit up (compass, odometer, radio station, etc), but the engine light came on. after stopping, i placed it in park, turned off the switch and restarted the car. there was some hesitation, but it did start. continuing to my destination, i could occasionally feel the car "sputtering" or hesitating like it wanted to shut down again, but it did not happen again before i made it home. however, on my way to work this morning and before i left my driveway, the car acted like it wanted to die again. i had backed out of my garage and put it in drive, slightly pressed the accelerator and it "sputtered". it continued "sputtering" periodically on my way to work (6-8 minute drive). i am really becoming very nervous about driving our country roads, in fear that it will shut down and i will lose the ability to maneuver the car to safety until i can regain power. *tr
Engine stalled for first time less than 2 miles after fill up at 25 mph on city street. immediately loss power assist of both steering and brakes. car weights 4040 lbs and i had a difficult time pulling into a parking lot and getting the car stopped. car was immediately restarted. no future problems until nearly every refill when it stalls within first few seconds or 2 miles. car now has 79550 miles. my wife drives this most frequently but i always fill the gas tank. i told her when it stalls, steer straight, put car in neural, restart, and hope you do not have to stop quickly. in nhtsa action number pe13016 chrysler's [xxx] letter aug 9, 2013 last page 17 states "if a stall after refuel conditions occurs, the vehicle has functioning steering and brake systems". true but with out power assist on steering and brakes car is very difficult to control. most women and small men would have difficulty safely stopping car. chrysler concludes this issue poses and minor risk to vehicle safety. i am a retired mechanical engineer and worked 40 years with power trains and strongly disagree. in this review vehicles 5, 6, and 7 all had problems with swollen refueling floats allowing the floats to stick and not function properly. all three cars were 2006 300c with 5.7 liter hemi engines the same as mine.. on a11.page 15, chrysler acknowledges the vent valves was changed for my 2007. this appears to acknowledge a poor or faulty design in my 2006. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
going for a 1000 mile trip from saint cloud fl. to pittsburgh pa. i filled up my gas tank . when i pulled out of the station the engine stalled. it stalled twice again a mile away while i was traveling about 25 mph. on my trip to pittsburgh the car stalled about 5 separate times all after getting the gas tank filled. most stalls occurred when stopped but at least twice happened while driving. called chrysler and got no where. their suggestion was to take car to a dealer at my own expense. this car has been maintained to a very high standard. never a scratch , or dents. always kept covered in garage. it is in immaculate condition. i am shocked about this stalling and chrysler's reply to my asking for their assistance. *tr
My vehicle will stall out on me intermittently. it mostly happens right after i get finished putting gas in my car. unlike most other stories i've read about overfilling the gas tank, this happens to me sometimes when i put just a half of a tank of gas in my car. now, as of nov. 7, 2013, it's done it well over 100 times; that's since the first time it happened in may. the dealership is a complete scam. they know this is a defect. they've charged me to fix everything from egr valves to pcms to spark plugs. nothing has worked.then finally i decide to do some deep research, that's when i decided to file my complaint. there are 2 major issues i have. when at highway speeds, i'll lose all power and throttle response for a split second, then it'll kick back in. it's extremely dangerous, to say the least. the more frequent problem, is the car completely cutting off while either at idle, or traveling at a lower speed. both situations happen almost always directly after i put gas in my car. this happens so much that it is becoming unbearable. sometime it starts back up, and sometimes i have to wait a minute or two. it's ridiculous. i don't mind paying to have my car serviced. however, diagnose the problem, know that's the problem, and let's get it fixed. don't run me through $3,000 worth of repairs, knowing that you've got countless others with the same model and model year, coming in around the same time, complaining about the same problem. you know what it is. that's no coincidence. and quite frankly, it's fraudulent. i've got my 5 year old son riding in the back seat. what happens the next time my car stalls out on the highway and loses power, with another car tailgating me? what if it's a tractor trailer next time? will they have enough time to brake or plow into the back of me? more unnecessary stress and worry for the loyal consumer. thanks chrysler. *tr
The car stalls randomly. there seem to be two scenarios when the stalls occur. one scenario is at idle (less than 1000 rpm). the car will just stall at a red light, at a stop sign, a rolling stop, when driving at very low speeds, etc. the other scenario is at wot. all the dash light s flash on and off quickly, the car lurches violently, loss of power, occasional stall. these two situations may or not be related to each other. i have had the fuel tank replaced already because of the stalling that was occurring after fuel fill up. that took care of that specific stalling scenario. there still remain these two stalling scenarios. they are very well documented in the online forums. many drivers are experiencing the same symptoms. it seems to be happening to all 5.7 and 6.1 hemis in the 300s, chargers, challengers and jeeps. no dealers can find a definitive solution. i and many others love our cars, but this is just unacceptable. we don't want to give up on chrysler, we just want a solution. this is a very dangerous situation. our cars are stalling randomly. this is similar to the gm stalling debacle. please help us prevent a chrysler/dodge/jeep debacle. by the way, thank you for your work in helping to find a solution on the fuel fill stalling issue. the lifetime fuel tank replacement was an adequate solution. i must note to you that included in the fix was a statement saying that "this did not represent a dangerous or life-threatening situation." i disagree 100%. i almost died a few times due to the random stalling after fuel fill. we all know the dangers of random stalling - just ask gm car owners. *tr
Engine intermittently stalls while either idling or driving. stalls are increasingly more frequent. unable to get a diagnosis of problem. have replaced the pcm but no change in problem occurrence. *tr
I had just refueled at the quick trip left the station and within one mile experienced the vehicle's engine cutting off and on. the tachometer would show that the engine was going from 2000 rpm's to 1000 this happened maybe 5 times in a one minute span and then quit. *tr
After filling my gas tank, at 1/2 a tank, i pulled away from the pump and the car stalled. after restarting i continued on my way. every time i slowed down for traffic, or a stop sign, or traffic light, the car stalled. this happened 6-8 times on my way home where the car was parked until the next day. after starting, the engine "spitted, and spurted" on acceleration. it then smoothed out, and ran fine, until this latest incident. also, the last time the car was fueled, it would not accept gas, the hose kept shutting off. tried another pump, same result, went to another gas station, same result. *tr
Every time after refueling the vehicle to a full tank of fuel vehicle stalls and sometimes several tries before it restarts. once the fuel tank level goes down about a gallon, the problem stops. this always occurs after refueling to a full tank of fuel. if i fill to about 3/4 tank the car can stall but not always. the only known fix to work all the time is a new gas tank for $1500 to install. *tr
The car chime will chime, the engine acts like it wants to stall, losing power for about 3 seconds, then it's fine. i received a sort of recall from chrysler about the problem, i called the dealership in raynham, ma., the first week of feb., 2015. i was told it would take about 2 weeks for the part. it has now been 9 weeks, and i'm told they are still waiting for 5 orders on this problem. i have had the car stall out, while driving in 35 mph traffic, very dangerous! it doesn't appear to me that chrysler is taking the letter i received stating they came to agreement with nhtsa to seriously!!! *tr
I was driving along @ 45mph approaching a stop light and the 5.7l hemi engine started to make a noise that sounded like something got stuck in the fan. upon further investigation the problem was in the left bank cylinder head. after removing the head and inspecting the valve seats no# 1 intake valve seat was missing. after taking a closer look at the valve seats it was noticed that small bits and pieces were crumbling off of the other seats. following this i have done some research on this problem and find it to be quite common with the 5.7 engine. the main safety problem here is that if one loses a valve seat then a valve can potentially be lost and cause catastrophic engine failure. at highway speeds this could be a very bad thing. there are two problems here. chrysler is using a compressed medal valve seat that does not hold up under the stress of the engine as it ages and the second is that the valve seat is not sunk deep enough into the head i.e. the head does not have enough gripping surface to hold the valve seat in place. and yes i am an engineer! *tr
Engine stalled and stopped working as coming out of gas station after filling at gas station. steering went hard and brakes did not work. warning light (lub oil can) came up. turned ignition off and on again, engine started but kept stalling for next 5 minutes. - multiple occurrences - all after filling tank. all subsequent occurrences reported to dealer. dealer kept vehicle for a week trying to 'replicate' the error but reported no findings. *tr
Pulled out of gas station after refueling into heavy rush hour traffic, car stalled while turning making it very difficult to steer (if my wife had been driving she would not have been able to steer). managed to put car in neutral and coast into medium. put car in park and restarted car, pulled out into traffic and car stalled again. this time i put car in neutral and restarted while coasting. no more problems on this trip. had the same problem 3 weeks later, pulled up to stop sign after refueling and car stalled. i put car in park and restarted, drove approximately 3/4 mile and entered stop and go traffic on freeway. car stalled 5-6 times within 1 mile, each time i put car in neutral and restarted. several times i was able to prevent a stall by watching the tach for signs of rpm dropping then putting car in neutral and pushing the gas pedal. *tr
Catastrophic engine failure upon vehicle start. engine threw a connecting rod due to connecting rod bearing failure. this mechanical failure resulted in complete loss of mobility and power. were this to happen in motion it would result in loss of propulsion, brakes and steering, presenting an immediate safety hazard to the driver of the vehicle and other drivers in the immediate vicinity. this defect has been acknowledged by both the dealer reps and various independent mechanics leading to the belief that this problem is widespread, and is becoming more apparent as this flawed mechanical component / design reaches the end of its life expectancy. strongly request further investigation or correlation of similar incidents / complaints. *tr
Im hoping this post will get us some help and answers about the problems we are having with our 2006 chrysler 300c. we bought the car in november of 2011. it had less than 33,000 miles and was in great condition. we absolutely loved this car for about the first year, but then the trouble started and it is now an ongoing nightmare. it started stalling and dying constantly, usually when we were going slow or stop and go, but a few times when driving 35-45 mph. we had purchased a 2 year/20,000 added warranty when we bought the car (expires in nov 2013 which has me worried) so all of the servicing and repairs have been done at our local dealer. so far, they have done throttle body clean, cleaned a/f box and replaced filter, coolant flush, steering system flush, fuel kit, changed out fuel tank, vapor canister, leak detection pump filter, new factory battery, complete tune up, oil changes, and more. not all of this was covered by the warranty, so we have spent thousands of our own money on repairs and rental car all the times it has been in the shop since it is our only car. on october 16, we had to have the car towed back to the dealer because it was dying again and wouldn't stay cranked once put in gear and start moving. as of this morning, still no word from them on what they think it is this time, and yet another rental bill while we wait. in the two years we have had this car, we have only put about 10,000 miles on it, it has less than 43,000 miles. this car has way too few miles and has been too well taken care of for it to be having this many problems. all the things they have done and its still doing the same thing! this is a big safety issue because when it dies, you have very little to none of the steering and brakes. luckily, we have not had it die in major traffic yet, but i am afraid to drive it now for fear that we are going to be in a wreck because of it. *tr
When i refuel the car at any gas station, it usually stalls a few minutes later when i am driving. at first, i thought it was the gas quality, but i have tried premium fuel from all major brands, and each time i fill up the car, their is a 90% chance that it will stall two or three times in the middle of the road. the rpms just drop and the car stalls. i have not had an accident, yet, but this is a major problem which can cause an accident.. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated the vehicle stalled while driving 65 mph. the check engine light illuminated as a beeping sound was heard while the failure occurred. the dealer replaced the main computer frame however the failure was not corrected. the vehicle continued to stall. the dealer performed a second diagnostic and advised the contact that the motor coils needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 110,000 and the current mileage was 135,000.
I filled up the gas tank at the station pulled into traffic and the light turned red. stopped for the light the car started lurching and the engine shut down. turned on hazard light pushed gas to floor and cranked engine over. took several tries to get engine to start. after this incident the car runs rough when stopping at red lights. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300 c. the contact stated while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was restarted after several attempts however, the failure recurred sporadically and after refueling. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the manufacturer was not notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 117,000. the vin was not available.
Every time vehicle is filled with gas, engine stalls. *tr
Stalls after i fill up and jerks violently when moving slowly 0 to 20 mph and hesitates when driving 30 and over if i don't drive around drive around in a parking lot for apx 10 min it will stop in traffic and possibly causing a rear end collision. *tr
Started stalling after fill up's apx 1 year ago. i do not drive it alot. apx 55000 miles on it. first thought was due to changing octane but been using for 4 months . stalls, bucks, surges. cleared up after apx 5 to 10 min. *tr
When i filled the fuel tank the car would stall leaving the service station. then it started when i was driving slow over rough pavement or speed bumps. at these times i did not realize the car had stalled until i saw the oil light on. the dealership could find nothing wrong with the car but suggested that the oil pressure switch be changed. the problem stilled persisted so i had the car tuned up. problem still continued and so i stopped buying a particular brand of gas because while leaving the station which is on the incline the car stalled and a bunch of lights came on and one indicated a problem with the gas. i have had the fuel injectors cleaned and stopped topping of the tank but the problem has not gone away. i have to drive two major highways for doctor appointments and cannot afford to have this car stall like this in major traffic. the car will be going along smoothly and then it starts lurching like i am trying to accelerate and brake at the same time. this presents a dangerous situation. the car goes in tomorrow to be checked again.i had driven 25 miles since the last fill and the car acted so erratic that i an afraid to drive it because you can't control where it is going when it stalls (no brakes or power steering. *tr
After filling the fuel tank the engine will stall when stopping for a light or when first leaving the light. it will also jerk while driving.this happens until the fuel level goes down. it did not do this when first purchased. now it happens every time the tank is filled. if the car stalls while driving the steering and brakes become difficult to use. there are many reports online about this same problem. chrysler does not claim to know anything about this at the dealer. someone will get hurt or worse if this problem is not addressed. thank you *tr
After you get gas in the car and drive away the car will stall and then you have to put it in park and restart your engine.this can be dangerous, especially if you are in moving traffic at the time. *tr
Engine stalls has occurred multiple times. been in shop all 6 times. in there today. stalled as i was driving at 60 miles per hour. i had no control over steering or anything. just had to coast with emergency flashers on till it came to a stop, i also had just filled with gas each time it has stalled. *tr
I too have had several instances when my car stalled on a busy road after approx. 5 minutes of fueling up. very dangerous. this happened approx. 6 times usually in very cold weather. *tr
The first time this happened was over a year ago. i had just filled up gas tank and pulled out of lot still in a parking lot of a shopping area. turned left into a fast food place and car shuts down and would not restart until attempted several times. i was able to pull into a parking spot and went inside. came out started car was pulling out of lot into traffic and car shuts down again. this time not to the liking of other drivers or myself. restarted after several attempts drove home and did not happen again till i went on a trip a few months later. half way through the trip i had to refuel and bingo it happened again after pulling out of gas station lot and turning left into traffic. this is not good. i was able to restart after several minutes and continued my trip on interstate without further incident. since then it has been ok until just two days ago the 28th of december 2013. it happened again, after filling up and turning left at slow speed car shut down while pulling into a lot. it finally restarted after several attempts. after reading on line i'm not the only one with this problem. when it happened the first time i took to dealer, that i will never take it to again. short story is they wanted to replace my transmission at the tune of $4500.00. i left there and drove to a transmission shop who diagnosed and said that there was nothing wrong with transmission. problem appears to be getting worst and afraid to fill up and pull out into traffic. from what i understand there seems to be a problem with the fuel tank and related components. please chrysler fix this problem, i love my 300c. *tr
After filling the gas tank to full, stopping after the pump clicks off the first time, the vehicle stalled after running for around 5 minutes. restarted vehicle and same thing happened two more times. vehicle continues to do this regularly. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician was unable to determine how to remedy the failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 29,000 and the current mileage was 34,000.
After filling the gas tank full i drove the car 1-2 miles and stopped at a traffic light and when i went to accelerate to go forward the engine completely died. i coasted to a stop just past the intersection and was able to re-start it. the same thing happened about a mile further down the road only this time i was not stopped, but driving and accelerating and it died and i was forced to coast to a stop and restart the engine. the problem continued for several days and then stopped. it happened again the next time i filled the gas tank up with very similar issues, and again stopped after the gas tank had used several gallons of fuel. i took it to the dealer and was informed that they would have to replace the gas tank (at a cost of $1600). the technician then told me that if i kept the gas tank at 75% full and not completely fill it i would have no problems. he was right, since these events in december of 2012 i have only filled it to 75% full and have had no problems. i am reporting this because i read in the dallas morning news on 05/16/2013 that this model of chrysler is being investigated for the problem i have told you of. the description/symptoms listed in the news release seemed to match mine and i am therefore reporting it. *tr
Trouble with engine stalling. it happens after the car is driven for a whole or filled full with gas. i have been driving several times in the middle of traffic and the car turns off. sometimes it will immediately restart and other times it takes several attempts to restart it. when it stalls out, the automatic steering also locks up causing the car to be difficult to maneuver. this has occurred several times not just once.... one time was after being on interstate for a couple hours, as soon as we pulled off the car kept cutting off. it has been cared for and is properly maintenance. on some occasions, i have even had to disconnect the battery to reset the computer for it to start. the problem has become more frequent other the months. *tr
After filling up my gas tank, i encountered numerous stalls while driving. thankfully, it was city driving early in the morning. since then, i have encountered numerous situations where the car has stalled after filling up. i initially thought it was bad gas (i.e. water in my gas tank), however, i have since varied the fueling stations and brands i use and have seen no effect. it always seems to happen after i fill up, and it seems to go away after the tank has emptied a bit. the latest encounter was yesterday (i filled up two days prior) while i had my family in the car - multiple stalls in mid-day city traffic. and again this morning. the gas tank is still quite full (it shows over "f" on the gauge). i _never_ top off when i fill - i simply wait until the filler turns itself off when filling. i have never seen this problem prior to the first occurrence in mid november of 2012, which i initially (as indicated) wrote off as bad gas due to hurricane sandy (i figured the storm may have caused water in the tanks of gas stations). after hearing about numerous issues on this, i wanted to add my experiences to the growing list. the car in question is a 2006 chrysler 300c srt-8. *tr
I was turning right at a stop light, immediately following a gas tank fill, when the engine stalled and power steering and brakes failed. the engine continued to stall during deceleration or when stopped for the next 30 miles. *tr
Car stalled multiple times after filling gas tank. has happened on an occasional basis, each time after filling the gas tank. *tr
I bought my 2006 chrysler 300c brand new & i've been the only owner. it was purchased straight from daimler/chrysler, ordered & built to my selected specifications through chrysler. i set the order in february 2005, it was built & finished 11 nov 2005. this was done while i was finalizing my career in active duty military service & retired. i returned to the u.s. 7 jan 2006 & that's when i saw & picked my then brand new 300c. i fell in love with that car ever since. i truly love this car & to this day still love this car. i've never had any major issues with this car from day one otherthan putting gas in it, very dependable car. in 2007 june i was diagnosed cancer of the bone & blood (multiple myeloma, stage 4). after being hospitalized for apprx. 18 mths, one day while coming from chemo it started to over heat & blowing steam, had it towed to nearest dealer & had to have the fans & the sensors replaced, 1st major problem, then after that it was the shift lever stuck in park, then the "a" frame & control arms, now in nov 2012, after attending my grandmother's funeral, i filled it up @ a gas station & it shut off, would start back up but continued to shut off. there was no check engine light then once i got it started it would sputter, kick, & stall, this was repeated for several miles down the hwy & was fine til i had to fill it up again from then on it continued to do so every fill up. i did receive an indication of the gas cap (replaced) then june 2013 i filled it up as usual & it shut off & it was difficult to restart, i waited & start it again it did so i pulled on to the road, it began to stall, sputter, & buck, as i crept home, i heard a loud crackling sound lost all power, had it towed was told #4 vlv had fell down in the cylinder, after 3 months 2008 5.7l engine put in, problem still exist, evap solenoid, canister, pump, & filter assembly replaced. *tr
Many multiple incidents - after filling fuel tank, engine will stall multiple times shortly afterwards and is difficult to re-start. this happens even if care is taken to avoid "topping off" tank. at times the engine has even stalled during fueling once tank is near full, before pump clicks off. must drive with gas cap removed for it to start and run at all for many miles before it behaves normally again, and even with gas cap removed it still will come near stalling at times. *tr
After filling the vehicle with fuel (not topping off the tank) the car stalled upon leaving the gas station. i was able to restart it after several times but the risk is incredible! the car stalls without warning as traffic was all around me honking and i was nearly being hit from behind!! once was a fluke i thought and maybe bad gas. i was able to carefully navigate on back streets to the house and never had the problem again until the next fill up. again i had the stalling problem, lucky for me i had picked a light traffic time to fill up. i switched gas stations after that an now only get gas at shell stations hearing that they had the best gas quality overall. the problem has continued since then every time i fill the tank full. the stalling problem seems to be occurring now two needle widths below the full mark which means something is getting worse. the local chrysler dealership says that there is no recall and the fix is to replace the gas tank due to a faulty value at the top of the tank. the cost is $1,315. the risk of getting hit from behind at any speed is incredible and very real!! i believe chrysler should replace the faulty tanks. *tr
After filling up with fuel while stopped at a traffic light the engine stalled. after restarting and proceeding the engine stalled again while traveling at 15-20 mph. this has happened several times since always after refueling. *tr
As reported with other complaints, car will stall after refueling. yesterday it stalled three times while removing my foot from the accelerator and applying the brake. it also stalled while turning through an intersection which prompted me to dig into this further since previous attempts to correct the problem have not worked!. visited chrysler dealership today and since the check engine light was not on nor could they find anything specific to the issue there was nothing they could do. the only question i was asked was that if i topped the fuel after the pump automatically shuts off. i responded that i did not and if i did what difference would that make. problem has been on going for about 8 months, and in those months the dealership re-flashed the engine control module, i have replaced the spark plugs, replaced all the fluids, and replaced the pcv valve. problem still persists and would like to seek some type of resolution! *tr
The car will hesitate and stall unexpectedly. it seems to occur only immediately after refueling. i have had the car die as i am crossing busy intersections. after driving a few miles, the problem seems to go away. internet chatter seems to indicate a bad evap. solenoid/canister or from a vent valve sensor inside the tank that is causing the problem and the tank would have to be replaced. a costly fix. this can be quite dangerous as the car will hesitate and stall even at highway speeds. it seems that this is a fairly common problem. i asked my local chrysler dealer assistant manager if he had ever heard of this problem and he said no, and also checked for any existing chrysler service bulletins on this subject and found none . *tr
Car stalls immediately after filling up. i switched filling stations, brands and octanes. continued to have problem. after a few gallons were used, the stalling went away each time. problem now continues while stopped at traffic lights, traveling at low speeds, or no pressure on the throttle. while moving it will stall, the engine light will come on and "ding", then when i pump the throttle it will catch itself and the car will jerk hard and accelerate again. at traffic lights once it stalls, it will require using the key to restart. i took the car to the dealer twice for the problem, the last time in aug 2013, the check engine light had stayed on. they reset the codes and could not duplicate the problem. *js
Engine shutting off while driving, making turns and while at stop signs, intersections. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that the vehicle would not start. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician stated that the piston had detached from the engine and the engine would have to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 93,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that while at a traffic stop, the check engine warning light illuminated as the vehicle stalled. the failure recurred numerous times and while driving at various speeds. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and the contact was informed that there was a possible pcm failure. the manufacturer was notified and informed the contact to have the vehicle examined by the dealer. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that all of the parts that caused the check engine warning light to illuminate would need to be replaced before the pcm could be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 63,500.
The other day i got off work and drove off fine. i went to the bank and used the drive through because i had pulled in a little to far away from the window i put the car in park and reached out. after my transaction was done, i tried to put the car in drive and it was stuck in park. it would not budge. i googled the problem and found that many many people have had this same issue. the internet suggested pushing a pink override button which i did but it did not work. it stated that there was another button to push if that didn't work but that required taking the whole shift gear apart. none the less, had to call a tow and the guy informed that this was a problem with chrysler 300. i have also had a problem with the car stalling when making right turns?? i have only had this car a year. low miles when i bought it. i just knew there was a recall on this and to my surprise there is not. so its sitting at the chrysler dealership and i can't imagine what my repair bill is going to be for something that chrysler should fix. *tr
after refueling tank i drove away from the pumps and onto the roadway, during acceleration to speed limit (50mph), at 25mph the engine stalled, with traffic quickly approaching i might add, and left me coasting. i was able to pull off to the side of the road thankfully, at which time i had to attempt a restart 3 times before it did start, when it started i had no issues for a few months. this exact situation happened to me every other month for a year until i learned to not fuel the vehicle to the top. it is a considerable inconvenience to not be able to fill the car to its capacity, especially on long trips. i am just afraid that this will happen, at any time, with no warning, quite an uncomfortable feeling actually. i hope for a satisfactory resolution to this issue. thank you. *tr
My 2006 chrysler 300c was a car that was well taken care of. it had less than 90,000 miles at the date of the incident. i was in a drive-thru and i turned off the car to save fuel. when i went to restart the vehicle, the car made a loud grinding noise that sound similar to sticking a baseball card in bicycle spokes but much louder and stronger. i had the car towed to chuck clancy chrysler and i was informed that a valve seat had dropped and destroyed several cylinders. the bill was $3,000. this car was always maintained by maintenance records and the oil changed with pennzoil platinum ultra. to add to this story, i received the car back and the same issue happened again two weeks later. needless to say, i was out another $4000 for this repair. chrysler refused to cover it and gave me the cold shoulder. i would never purchase a chrysler product again. *tr
After refueling, my chrysler 300srt 2006 6.1 liter v-8 engine stalled while traveling through town. it restarted quickly and i continued my travel. within 1 mile, the vehicle stalled again and restarted quickly. i have not had any other incident as of 5/5/13. i am concerned after reading an article in the paper regarding this problem with other chrysler products of the same year and similar models. i travel the interstates often and refuel during my travel and i am extremely concerned that my car will stall on the interstate while traveling 65 mph surrounded by other cars. i have reported this problem to my chrysler dealer and understand there is an ongoing investigation. i can only pray that the underlying problem is discovered quickly before there are any crashes with or without injuries. is there anything else i need to do? *tr
