Cars tipn needs replaced after 35,000 miles. car initially set all dash lights off, one front and one rear led light remained on even after key was taken out and never went out leading to dead battery. the car died on me while driving it about 20mph as i was attempting to pull out onto roadway causing near accident. been without a car for last 3 weeks while trying to get diagnosis and repair. total cost from going to several repair shops to get diagnosis and part to replace it is estimated to cost $1500-2000 which i cant afford. i am making payments on a car that i cant even drive. i am a college student and this was my first purchase of a car with my own money. this part needs to be recalled. i have read multiple complaints with the same issue . one chrysler repair shop made comment that he was surprised they havent had a recall on that part due to all the ones he has seen needing replaced. this needs to be fixed and chrysler needs to be accountable.
Car has shut off while driving last few mornings. it happened in the exact same spot each morning. as soon as i turned onto a road, going 20-30 mph, the car just stalls, says "place in p to start" and then dies. the gearshift and wheel lock up and you have to turn the car off and attempt to restart. each time i had to try at least 3 times to get the car restarted. all lights come on dash, battery light included, but had battery checked and it is fine. trying to restart, it doesn't want to turn over. this has happened with several cars behind me and have almost been rear ended because of it. taking into dealership tomorrow to see what they're going to do. after reading other stories very similar to mine, i'm not very hopeful.
While stationary the car steering wheel shakes really bad. while in motion the car jerks. without pushing on break. the car takes a long time to get a little speed you have to mash the gas peddle. the air bag light stays on
Doesn't start. every light came on. everything needed to be serviced air bags key fob not detected air bags needed service parking brake needs service. check engine light on. battery light on. can only start with a charge once charge removed car doesn't start. the car was stationary. i recently found out that the car was on the recall list, but i never received notification from the car company.
I smelled something burning while i was driving and my ac stopped working fortunately i wasn't far away from home. i pulled in my driveway and looked under the hood and noticed that where the ac compressor was melting the ac compressor clutch potentially cause a fire or other hazards,
Stop and go traffic for about 20 mins, once i entered the intersection the vehicle completely stopped without warning. i could not locate the emergency release to place the vehicle in neutral. car sat in the intersection got 1.5 hours.
Starting in october 2018 this car has cut off on me for no reason at any given time. i will be driving and it will cut off and tell me to shift into park. sometimes it cranks back up other times it doesn't. i have taken it to landmark chrysler five different times. each time i am told that it's a different problem. and each time the car does the exact same thing again. this has endangered my life and the life of my two year old son. after completing two different oil consumption test landmark(morrow,ga) still hasn't been able to diagnose the problem so the warranty company won't fix the car. they know that it's using too much oil but they claim they don't know why. this car is a safety hazard and nothing is being done about it. they just try to get you to trade it in for another car with a higher payment. this problem really needs to be investigated before it causes someone their life. i have been driving on major highways when this car has cut off with no warning and narrowly missed being hit by a semi truck. i have filed a complaint with chrysler corporate but that has gotten me no where because the person i speak with (will in customer care) does nothing and claims that he doesn't have a supervisor that i can contact.
Takata recall, my vehical was completely still, outside of my family home getting into the car with my 1yo. i have had problems with my key fob before so i didnt think anything of it. tried to go and start my car and my speedometer read 'key fob not detected' but my car crank any way and let me drive 20 minutes out to visit a family member. once we got back in the car to go home, my car would not crank, due to a computer failure to ready my key fob, had to get it towed to the dealership where i found this out and is costing me around $500 to pay for.
Car had been parked for about 5 hours. when i went to restart car made a noise like it was struggling to start. turned car off and check oil appears to be full. went to restart car and it would not restart. multiple attempts were made to start car and while all lights and beeping came on car would not start again over a 15 min period. can not push break down and when push the start button nothing happens. car has also stalled out multiple times while driving in the last year. chrysler dealership states its due to oil and it appears car is burning oil very fast. chrysler states that the car will not start due to a safety mechanism to not allow the engine to overheat due to low oil. as oil has appeared full and checked multiple time unsure as to why the car would do this.
I've been into the service department over 6 times for the same issues. this car is so unsafe to drive. i believe this is a transmission issue. my car creates a very hard jerking when switching gears or speeding up. it also shakes when the air conditioning is on and i am only getting about 15 mi to the gallon when it should be 27. i've left multiple complaints since i have had this vehicle, worked with the device department, worked with chrysler and the situation and safety concern is still not rectified. please look into this. it's my only transportation and i would like to keep myself, my 3 babies, and other drivers safe. thank you!
When i'm driving the car shuts off and also when i turn the corner or hit a bump the buzzer goes off and then it shuts down also it has a very poor gas mileage and i get a tournament the shock from the car while i touch it . when i am driving at a normal rate of speed or if i go to take off it will shut off if i'm in the passing lane for unknown reasons it shuts off when i touch the brakes or if i'm sitting waiting for light it makes a humming noise . all of this happens only when the car is in motion this started back in february 2018 and still continues to this date today's date is may 13, 2019
The car was in a collision and caught fire on impact completely destroying the entire car.
I start driving and it turns off the whole engine without a warning. it is extremely dangerous as in many instances i was driving and making turns in mid traffic the car shuts off no warning at all. then i have to put it into park and it takes a couple of push starts to start up. i read a lot of other people have the same issue and chrysler isn't doing anything about this. i maintained the car well since i bought it last year in 2018. a chrysler 200 2016 car.
I was driving down the road and while accelerating , my car suddenly jerks really hard forward . my engine starts knocking really loudly & i started to smell burning oil . the car was smoking & could have lead to a very serious accident . now as the result of chrysler 200 being such a failed model , i was unable to continue making payments and fix the vehicle , now i'm $22,000 in debt .
2016 chrysler 200s with just over 27,000 miles started on fire due to as of yet undetermined cause, 1000 miles after being inspected by 2 dealerships, and about 2000 miles after oil change and inspection by a third dealership. the car was declared total loss by state farm insurance. ([xxx], mike o'brien) the car was listed in well maintained condition at the time of loss. at this time state farm has been told by there corporate that no further investigation as to cause will be conducted. the fire happened on the side of 275n near eureka road exit on 9 april 2019. my wife [xxx]. (michigan state police metro south post #22,[xxx]) -oil changed at suburban chrysler in novi before leaving for the approximately 1000 mile trip and week in fl. -during stay, the car smelled hot so she took it to sunset chrysler ([xxx]) in sarasota, fl. personnel at dealership were rude, and told her her car's state of cleanliness was causing the smell. -my wife needed to drive home in a couple of days and was still concerned. one thing that i had her check was coolant which was low and had not been noticed by sunset. she then took the car to a second dealership (douglas jeep chrysler dodge ram, fl ([xxx]) for inspection. douglas, while more polite, conducted coolant system and other checks, but determined there was no issue with the vehicle. the service department guaranteed my wife that the vehicle was safe to drive back to michigan and even went on to say that they would not let an unsafe vehicle leave the shop. -that same night i contacted chrysler who initiated their own investigation. My car suddenly turned off as i was making a turn. i have fixed the car 2 times from the same thing and this will be the 3rd. i want to see if there's something associated with a recall about the computer module. it stalls to turn on, and when it does it won't go as far as a mile
While driving the hole system will shut down at random times. all the screens all things that light up. not every time, but sometimes. then when you go to switch gears to back up the back up camera doesn't always switch to back up. it will stay on the same screen or go black. this part actually happens a few times a week.
As i am driving car will cut off and tell you to shift the car to park. it then will stall when you try to start it back up. this happened on the interstate and the street while in motion.

Parking brake will spontaneously engage while driving on city street going less than 15mph. check turns on but no codes and will not turn off. biggest issue lately is that car does not recognize key fab. batteries have been changed and neither key fab is recognized. car can be started, get out and get back in and fab is jot recognized. has left me stranded many times. then when go back, it suddenly works.
My car is burning more oil than it should and the car does not warn you when you are completely out of oil. instead, it allows you to drive the vehicle and while on the road, it shuts off. i have had my oil change completed 2 weeks ago and i have driven 1,000 miles since then. my oil level is now below the min level. this vehicle does not have a dashboard indicator and the "oil life" percentage is not accurate.

As i was in motion going about 20 mph with the car in drive (d), the car displayed a message as seen in the photo that states shift to park (p) to start. as, that message is displayed the steering wheel and the brakes lock up while the car is slowing down so you cannot shift the car to park until the car has come to a complete stop. once the car comes to a complete stop, i shifted my car back to park and tried to restart the car. the car wouldn't restart right away. the engine and transmission would make a noise as if it were trying to start with the rpm's fluctuating to about 3 (3000 rpms) then go back to 0 then jump to 1 (1000 rpms) then back to 0 rpms where the engine would give out. i would have to wait a minute, while in the middle of traffic, then it would restart and run normally again. i called chrysler corporate, due to the fact of having the whole transmission replaced while under warranty due to a transmission problem that grew after purchasing the car. leslie from chrysler gave me case id #: 34798487. i scheduled an appointment with darcars chrysler dodge jeep ram of silver spring located on 12511 prosperity dr, silver spring, md 20904 to bring the car to get serviced and the issue looked at on august 7th 2018 at 10:45 am. i am currently waiting for a diagnosis of the issue to be addressed by the dealership. please see pictures attached for more information.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. while driving at any speed and attempting to make a turn, the vehicle shut off. the vehicle was shifted into park and restarted. the battery and the cruise control indicators illuminated. the failure recurred several times. the dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 74,800.
Vehicle sounds as if it wants to shut off when standing idle sometimes and even sometimes as i'm slowing down. and recently took a road trip had trouble with cruise control as if it was accelerating on it's on or getting stuck. i checked my vin number and found no particular recalls specific to the vin. however, i received an email that the chrysler 200 itself had recalls relating to electrical, steering and overall safety of the vehicle. the problems i've been having seem to be closely related to those specified in recall
Exactly one month after purchasing my chrysler 200 nov 28, 2017bthe engine light came on during short drive to the movies, and the engine began to stall while waiting at a red light. i had to pay almost $400 to replace ignition coil. then a month ago, 06/27/2018 another ignition coil failed costing me $250, luckily when the coil failed i was in line at a starbuck's drivethru. now another coil has failed leaving the car undriveable again, and now unable to afford repair. unfortunately the warranty i purchased with the vehicle does not cover this part and after recently reading reviews on this particular vehicle i have come to learn that this is a recurring issue that has not been called out, yet this vehicle is still be sold to people. i strongly feel that it is a safety concern, because in this last incident my coil went out while driving on the highway and my car began to stall in the middle of rush hour traffic during a heat advisory. i also strongly believe that the part the ignition coils are faulty and are cause for great concern.
I had a 2016 chrysler 200 limited. if you need to have 18,000 miles on the vehicle yet and i bought it brand new. on june 5th 2018 i had to drop my daughter off at school i was about eight blocks away from her school and a gentleman pulled me over to let me know that i needed to get out my car because underneath my car was on fire. so i turn the corner to get away from the school in the park cars cut the car off and got out the car next thing i know the car blows up the fire department comes and put the fire out. but my car is at a total loss. no one knows why the car caught on fire or blew up because they said it's too much damage done to the car. *tt *js
Conducted pre-trip safety inspection of the vehicle. all lights, mirrors, gauges, and safety belts appeared to be in good working order. there were no active warning lights, fuel level was approximately , and odometer log was accurate. the vehicle showed no signs of mechanical defects to include vibrations, unusual noises, or odors during initial operation. the vehicle was relatively clean inside and out. the only unusual detail we noticed was the presence of several ticks (parasites) inside the vehicle. 0900: arrived on site at blue springs lake and parked the vehicle on a gravel road with other gov vehicles. 1000: drove vehicle approximately three miles to a gas station to use restroom and returned to worksite. the vehicle, once again, failed to exhibited any abnormalities. 1315: left worksite traveling eastbound on hwy 40 at 55 mph. all four windows were up with ac on full. ambient temperature was approximately 90f. 1320: slowed to approximately 35mph as we approached a red light. i noticed white smoke in the rearview mirror. we came to a complete stop at the light and observed white and black smoke coming from under the hood. i immediately turned off the air conditioner and checked the temperature gauge (25% of max). i pulled into the right turn lane and drove approximately 50 feet to an empty parking lot. we exited the vehicle and observed orange flames underneath the engine compartment. i instructed mr. baker to call 911 and report the fire along with our location. i searched for a fire extinguisher under the seats and in the trunk without success. a few seconds later a good samaritan in a work truck stopped and knocked down the flames with his fire extinguisher. mileage = 42,351
My 2016 chrysler 200 was purchased brand new, has only 15000 miles. when pulling into traffic the engine shuts off. dashboard prompt says put in park to start.car won't start until after 3 attempts and in the middle of traffic and several near missed rear enders car started but stuttering and no power. finally after sitting in the middle of traffic for 5 or 10 minutes engine smoothed out. no warning at all. extremely scary and dangerous, both times car was in motion turning onto a busy street in heavy traffic, engine just shut off for no reason. dealership said oil change was needed but oil life gauge said 51% and oil change wasn't due for another 500 miles.tech.at the dealership said it was a safety feature. i don't see anything safe about the engine shutting off in the middle of traffic. very unsafe and dangerous. should be a recall for this before someone hurt or killed.
When vehicle need small maintenance such as oil change or system update, vehicle electric (computer system) shuts down not allowing driver to even turn on hazards on. vehicle has to towed to shop.
Since i've bought the car, upon accelerating, stopping, pretty much doing any driving the car will bubble under and jerk as if you're manually switching shifts. it has only gotten worse over the 2 years i've owned this car and no one can seem to help because there's no "code" that finds the problem. my car also, will lock the wheel while i'm driving, lock the brake and gas and turn completely off as if the battery died and i can't put the car in neutral or anything since it is locked. this has almost caused my to be in multiple vehicle crashes. the car is now shaking and still having a bubbly feel under the car as if it's having a hard time starting up while i'm driving.
After a week of owning the vehicle, which was purchased from enterprise, my check engine light came own while on the highway with my family (wife and year ten month babe). we called the dealership and scheduled and appointment. turns out the battery was dead. got that fix and then while driving back home on the highway my airbag light came on with the check engine light as well. at the moment the light is still on and waiting to get my car in to my local dealership. i do not feel safe driving my chrysler, even though it's a new car, but i need to get to work and a bus can't get me there. i hope this is a small fix and i can have my airbag system working again. i would feel safe. i have read and hear similar complaints of new owners with the the issues and dealerships refusing to service the work, even on cars with 30,000 miles. please have this looked at or investigated, it would be a shame if something happens.
The car first started off with the screen turning on and off while driving..we didn't think much of it however a few month ago the car began to turn off in the midst of driving. before turing off the car would begin to yank as if resisting. we proceeded with purchasing a new battery. that was 4 month ago. we are now here 12/2018 and the car has once again started to yank while driving, turn off when going 10-40 mph and now has the check engine, traction and voltage light flashing. once it is turned off and turned back on after a few mins. it's as if nothing ever happened. all this happened while driving in city street and turning.
Bought new still under bumper to bumper warranty at about 24000 miles while driving the car entering the highway from the access road at approximately 37mph my vehicle just shut off almost as if had rebooted like a computer the wheel did not lock up first warning light read "airbag failure" then right after my parking/emergency brake light came on then tire pressure all while my shift knob flashed "p" if it wasn't a backup on the highway i would have been hit and caused a major pile up luckily i was able to engage the hazards and drift one lane over to the break down lane with no power to the brakes i had to press harder as i made it over to the side all of those lights went off, i was able to restart the car and then the engine light came on before i made it to my appointment at the dealer the engine light had gone off too. they could not recreate nor can tell me for sure what caused the failure
24,000 miles bought 8 months ago while entering the highway which traffic turned out to be backed up and stop and go, doing 37 mph from the access road merging into traffic at tat speed before the slow down my car shut off mid merge(almost as if it restarted like a computer) first there was a light and an airbag failure message then the emergency brake light came on (as if i had used the parking brake) then the tire pressure light followed by engine light the wheel did not lock up and as i had hit traffic i was luckily able to drift over to the side of the highway narrowly avoiding being hit by the cars behind me all lights except the engine light went off after about 30 seconds i had to try twice but i was as able to restart the car by the next morning the engine light had gone away i have since taken the car into the dealer and they have no idea what caused it or if it could happen again, i am waiting to hear from chrysler but i am not sure they are taking this a serious as i am had it not bee for the traffic i could have been injured or worse
My vehicle is in a collision shop since dec. 19, 2016 for front end repairs. the collision repair shop is gerber collision & glass, 153 pa-100, fogelsville, pa 18051, it has been brought to my attention that there is not a recall but a back order on a support bracket part # 68247600aa. chrysler corporation has not recalled this part, however they have stopped producing the original part, and are now re building the part, and thus claiming the bracket is not available to any certified chrysler dealers and consumers, and thus my vehicle and collision mechanic has been waiting to be complete the repairs on my chrysler 200s, and we have not received any information on the status of this part, from chrysler corporation, or an ets of when they will begin shipping the support bracket to the over 600 consumers, and business's waiting for this part for the same vehicle year, make and model. my vehicle has been in shop since december 19, 2016, and chrysler corporation is not providing me with any information on the safety or status of this part, and furthermore they have not addressed my investment in this vehicle, which i am unable to drive. i have not received any compensation for the vehicle, and have not had my vehicle for over 1 month. there are many people involved in trying to resolve this issue, however it is a chrysler corporation issue which they are failing to provide consumers and businesses with information and or the status and safety of this vehicle part.
I had just finished reversing to adjust my parallel parking in a residential street. i placed the hazard lights on and put the car into "p". after my daughter got in, i took off the hazard lights and place my car on "d". in order for me to change gears i have to press down the brake, and as i let go to start driving i felt my car do a quick two "tugs" as i was going forward and into a drive-way on my left. when i was turning the steering wheel, i felt it start to go stiff to where i had to turn it hard for it to move. the car started to slow down while i pressing the gas, coming to a halt before my front wheels could go on the drive-way. i pressed the brakes but they were hard where i could not press down on them and i let them go. i pressed down on them again hoping they would work, but they were hard. at that point the car sounded like it turned off on me even though the sign on my ignition read "run". i look down and my gear is on "d" but flashing on and off. at this point i am stuck in the middle of a residential street (sideways) because my car would not move. i look at the screen in my dashboard and its flashing something about "shift" and the battery light is on. i was panicking so i did not fully read what it was flashing and fortunately was able to change the gear to "p" even though i could not press down the brakes because they were very stiff. i turned off my car, and restarted it. at that point my car worked like nothing happened. i know my car in a weird way turned itself off because my a/c was not blowing cool air anymore (windshield was starting to fog because of the rain) until i restarted the car. i will say that a few months prior my "parking brake" turned on on its own, and i had mistakenly thought i had done it even though i had not touched it. i was adjusting my car into a parking spot and had just changed from "r" to "d".
While driving the car jerks while shifting and the transmission locks while driving...the display shows that the car is in speed mode but the dial is in drive. have taken to dealer and they stated it was repaired but the same day of getting the car back its doing the same thing....unsafe to drive....
