Air bags lights comes on indicating that there is a problem with the passenger seat. it has only came on after i have had a passenger in the passenger seat and on my instrument panel there's a red warning light that that air bag is not operational according to the dealership at jeff wyler east gate in batavia ohio 45102 513-7523447. i also had to put the same 200 s in the shop for a massive oil leak that once i noticed it and then had it checked by a chrysler service advisor there was no oil in the 3.6 l engine and i was told it was a common issue with the 3.6l engine that there was a tsb or something on it so i dropped it of at the above mentioned location to find out my warranty would cover the problem that it was the oil cooler cracked and i would have to pay the $200 lifetime warranty i had on the car. the other issue was there's a engine light on that indicated that the cooling system was malfunctioning which i had mentioned to the dealer when i bought the car or the sweet bungent odor that i smelled coming out of my vents at 5 miles when i bought it i was told that it would go away by 50 miles on my odometer and now at 66700 it's back and was notice by the discount tire shop tell me they smelled a strong coolent leak and i mentioned it to the dealer and they wanted to charge me more money to find if there was a issue that that had already told me was there after i bought the car at 5 miles and would go away at 50 ! to be honest i just believe i got use to it!!!
The sensor that is under the passenger seat, signalling that an individual is sitting in the seat, has needed to be replaced by the dealership twice now as a connection becomes loose and will dis-attach. this will alert my car to service airbags
Airbag light keeps coming on. bought the car used from a dealership in june 2019. vin # is not on a recall list for takata airbags. the car is at college, out of state, with my granddaughter. the local chrysler dealership in her area will not fix the airbag problem for free because the vin # is not on a recall list. i'm at a loss since the cost of repair is high. i live on social security & she is going to school on scholarships. does she have to be involved in an accident and possibly be hurt before chrysler will repair the airbag problem-free? the description for this problem says the airbag may not deploy if there is an accident. how do i know if the car should be on a recall list? this is not the first time the light has come on. the car has been in motion, on a city street and on the highway when the problem occurs. the latest occurrence was on or about the date listed below and the airbag light is still on.
While stationary the car steering wheel shakes really bad. while in motion the car jerks. without pushing on break. the car takes a long time to get a little speed you have to mash the gas peddle. the air bag light stays on
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. the contact stated that the "air bag needs servicing" warning message was illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the wiring to the air bags needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 86,000.
My car was working perfectly fine until i left work today. my check engine light came on as soon as i started my car and it kept saying 'check parking brake' and 'check airbags' i couldn't put my car in drive or reverse, it wouldn't go anywhere. possibly because the parking brake wouldn't let me drive. very strange, as it was sudden and unexpected.... have never had a problem with parking brake or airbags.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 15 mph, another vehicle coming out of an alleyway crashed into the contacts vehicle. the front end of the vehicle was severely damaged. none of the frontal air bags deployed. as a result, the contact struck his head on the steering wheel and was unconscious. the police was present and a report number: 2019077493 was filed. the vehicle was not towed but was driven to the residence. the contact was taken to the hospital by ambulance where he was treated for his head bleeding and head concussion. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 54,000. *dt*jb
After having the front passenger seat wiring harness replaced, the service air bag notification is once again reoccurring on this vehicle. the code is again indicating an issue with the passenger seat wiring. this problem appears to be quite common with 2015/2016 chrysler 200s!
Crashed into vehicle in front of me due to not being able to stop in time while traveling 25-30 mph, possibly faster. front end completely crumpled and vehicle was considered total loss. airbags did not deploy at all.
As i have owened the car for over a year now, have not had any issues besides the airbag light coming on. this happened today as my wife was taking my son to daycare. this is an issue i have seen among theese cars and needs to be addressed. i have a 1 year old and i would be sueing if he were to get injured by the system caused from poor manufacturing. please have this issue fixed.
Takata recall for about a week now my "service airbag system" light has been coming on and off inconsistently. it first came on on 5/15/2019. this was when i was driving about 30 mph. after i turned my vehicle off and turned it back on the light did not return. now the light has been popping up every now and then, usually when i slow down or stop my car completely. i do not have any passengers that drive in my vehicle, only little ones that ride in the back seat. i do not have items that sit in the front passenger seat either. after researching there was a airbag recall on prior models not sure if this could be related. since the first incident now every time i drive my car (which has been almost every day since) the light has been on. please advise
Poor connection at harness under passenger seat, service air bag system warning comes on and to fix issue i must disconnect the airbag wiring harness under the passenger seat, add some dielectric grease and reconnect. this must be done every 3 months.
Tamara recall i was hit in the front and side drivers and not one of my air bags went off from the impact. i was forced by the other car into a curb. lights would flicker constantly even after battery was changed twice. from the cause of the accident i have had major injuries sustained.
Engine was rebuilt/parts replaced within 6 weeks of owing the vehicle. vehicle was returned again for sudden shock when exceeding 45 mph while driving. today 3/20/19 was informed airbag is defective but not covered under warranty. vehicle is skipping again at 45+ mph
Service airbag light on. apparently a common issue per search on internet. since airbags are a safety issue, is there a reason this has not been recalled? poorly designed harness under seats allows for wires to be easily damaged or become loose from moving seat or being bumped by backseat passengers. received estimate to repair in excess of $2800.00.
My car stalls when i start to drive. if i don't let it idle in park for a good 15 minutes it will stall and tells me to put it in park. once it stalls it is difficult to restart. also the airbag light keeps coming on. if i hit the smallest pothole the airbag light comes on and it gives me a message stating service airbags. also the driverside seat came untracked and cannot move it forward or backwards without it making a weird noise.
Passenger air bag warning light- wire harness in seat replaced once came on again.
Airbag light is on the diagnostic came back as in open circuit in the passenger squib dealership says have to replace both seat harnesses.the dealer says it's not a safety issue
Dtc b002813 circuit open had to remove passenger seat, disassemble, install updated wiring harness, etc. cost $1,800 to repair. complaint - this extensive repair should not have been needed for the age and mileage of the car. we feel that a recall should be issued for this problem. why is this car designed in a way that the repair for this problem must be this extensive. very displeased with chrysler design.
Takata recall, air bag icon stays on. gas cap icon stays on. upon cruse control, to continue at the previous speed on incline , the brakes and dash lights began to flash. pulled over turned car off and started back up as k was driving on the interstate.
Service air bag system and service parking brake notifications appeared as well as the check engine light car would not shift, the screen went in and out while the vehicle loss power and wouldn't move. the transmission just reved this car has major issues all of this happed while driving.
While driving the vehicle at around 30 mph the service airbag system and service parking brake system notifications came on along with the check engine light and traction control disabling. as that happened my touchscreen in the vehicle went in and out and the car became hesitant to accelerate. i pulled over and tried to set the parking brake and then release it afterwards the car really became hard to move. transmission just reved and the car eventually started accelerating.
At times will not start . engine dies while going down the highway. transmission loses power then after resting it will go again then out of nowhere it stalls again.
When driving, a 'service airbag system' message appears and the airbag light comes on. this happens every few minutes while driving on city streets and highways. the vehicle was taken to a dealership several months ago and we were told it has to do with a plug under the driver side seat which bends easily. it was fixed, but has started happening again. there are several reports online on various sites such as google and youtube reporting the same issue. my concern is that the airbags won't deploy if we were to get into an accident. i feel the plug should be recalled and replaced with one that will not malfunction. this is a serious safety concern and is not an isolated incident.
On 10/12/18 was driving down a busy highway just started going down a hill and my car lost power and my gear shifter starting blinking in neutral, brake pedal and gas pedal was stuck and push to start would not work for me to restart my car after a few tries i was able to get to turn off and took a couple tries to get it to turn back on. i was stalled and had cars dodging me and swerving in other lanes when they were topping the hill. i went to my dealership and they wasn't able to look at that day and told me they could probably get to it the next following week. while i was driving to the dealership to drop it off with the service department i was at a stop sign stopped with my foot on the brake and it decides to take off on it's on and i had to smash the brakes several times to make it stop in order to not hit another vehicle. it was a pretty traumatic experience for me as i have always took care of that car since i have had it. i never had a recall for my vehicle either. my engine would also skip a few times while driving to my dealership. i have also never had any work done to my vehicle mechanically beside oil changes on a regular basis.
For about 30k miles now my service airbag light is on. chrysler wants to charge $100 to look at it and then charge much, much more to "fix" the airbags. why are airbags that have never been deployed not always covered under a warranty? i have been told by a third party tech that the airbags will not deploy with this light on. this problem is widely known and chrysler seems to think our safety is not worth covering this issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. while driving various speeds, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. the contact took the vehicle to boch new to you used car superstore (1201 providence hwy route 1, the automile, norwood, ma 02062, (781)332-4756) where it was diagnosed that the srs air bag sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in a recall; therefore, she would need to pay full price for the repair. the failure mileage was 53,900.
Service airbag system notice on dashboard. 4th event over 2 year period. current mileage 25000. dealer has now repaired wiring connections on front passenger side (twice). sensor area near front left headlight, and front drivers side squib 2 circuit connector, though code thrown this time was for left side seat deployment squib 1. i am concerned that with so many areas of the system failing due to improperly installed or defective connections, that the system is likely to fail in in a crash when most needed! faults occurred both while vehicle was stationary and in motion. location and direction of travel were random when faults occurred.
Airbags system malfunctioning, the car is indicating needs service for airbags system failure. this is a major risk for the safety of any driver. this issue has been reported to chrysler. thousands of cases in which chrysler 200 from year 2015 to 2018 have a malfunction hazardous airbag system. failure to deploy upon vehicle impact. warning indication of system failure is a common problem and needs a safety recall. the manufacturer should recall these vehicles. it is unlawful for these vehicles not to operate a proper airbag system.
While vehicle was in motion, service airbag system came on and went off multiple times.
This vehicle build date indicated august 2015 and it was sold as a 2016 vehicle. i have had constant problems with the service air bag system light coming on since 2016, 2017 and 2018 and i have called chrysler at 1 800 853 1403 to report the problem. i have gone to the dealership to get fixed and a few months later the issues continues. chrysler say there is no recall on this vehicle. this is dangerous. the vehicle is in motion when the service airbag system light comes on. *tt *tr
The airbag warning lamp is stuck on due to a faulty wiring issue in which the system may or may not work properly in the event of a accident and or may go off due to hard breaking. this problem has been known about for a while as stated in the technical service bulletin. at least three different vehicles ranging in years from 2014 to current have had this same issue. the vehicle began having this problem while driving down the road. when taking my vehicle into be repaired this issue didn't pop up when at the dealership. upon getting my vehicle home the airbag lamp began appearing. i returned my vehicle back to the repair shop/dealership to which i was told there was not a chrysler tech available and they would not be able to service my car. after taking my vehicle in today i was told the news about the airbag system. my warranty coverage won't cover this issue due to it being a safety matter. my airbag lamp is on at least 90% of the time while i am driving with and with out passengers
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. while operating the vehicle, the air bag sensor remained illuminated, which was a safety concern. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. an unknown local dealer was notified of the failure. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 45,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. while driving approximately 70 mph, the driver lost control of the vehicle, drove down an embankment, and crashed. during the incident, the front end of the vehicle sustained severe damage; however, the air bags did not deploy. the driver sustained a head laceration and a fractured nose that required medical attention. the vehicle was towed to an undisclosed location. a police report was filed. the cause of the failure was not determined. the manufacturer and local dealer (santa maria chrysler, dodge, jeep, ram, 1918 s broadway, santa maria, ca 93454) were both notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 35,000. *dt*jb
My right passenger air bag senor is malfunctioning, however the dealership cannot tell me why or how the senor was broken. i see that there was a recall on some chrysler vehicles that were made in 2015 which mine was, but they claim my car is not eligible for the recall. washington ' fiat-chrysler is recalling 78 2015 chrysler 200 sedans to fix a problem that affects the front passenger seat and airbag, according to the national highway traffic safety administration. "during service work, the affected vehicles may have had either the occupant classification module or the seat cushion foam of the front passenger seat replaced instead of both pieces together, which make up a complete calibrated set," nhtsa said in its recall summary. "if both pieces were not replaced together, the occupant detection and classification system may not be properly calibrated and the passenger airbag may improperly deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury." there are no accidents or injuries linked to the recall, fiat-chrysler spokesman eric mayne told edmunds. the affected 200 sedans were built from april 7, 2014 to august 3, 2015. chrysler dealers will install a new ocm-scf seat service kit. the recall is expected to begin within 60 days. owners can contact chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. https://www.edmunds.com/car-news/2015-chrysler-200-recalled-for-airbag-seat-problem.html
After a week of owning the vehicle, which was purchased from enterprise, my check engine light came own while on the highway with my family (wife and year ten month babe). we called the dealership and scheduled and appointment. turns out the battery was dead. got that fix and then while driving back home on the highway my airbag light came on with the check engine light as well. at the moment the light is still on and waiting to get my car in to my local dealership. i do not feel safe driving my chrysler, even though it's a new car, but i need to get to work and a bus can't get me there. i hope this is a small fix and i can have my airbag system working again. i would feel safe. i have read and hear similar complaints of new owners with the the issues and dealerships refusing to service the work, even on cars with 30,000 miles. please have this looked at or investigated, it would be a shame if something happens.
Takata recall the dash board is flashing a message that thiers a issue with the air bags and to schedule a appointment. the message would flash during the vehicle in motion and stationary.
At 49,500 miles my 2016 chrysler 200 "service air bag" came up on the panel. the dealer states that it is a passenger side harness and will need to be replaced. it is not part of any recall and not part of the extended warranty purchased. how does an airbag harness fail in 2 years. sound more like a defect.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. while driving 5 mph, the contact crashed into another vehicle. none of the air bags deployed. the contact noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment. the contact's insurance company had the vehicle towed to hinsey's wrecker services (located at 2416 cass st, fort wayne, in 46808; (260) 483-4913). afterwards, the vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer. a police report was filed. the contact sustained a contusion of the neck, finger, and chest wall, an abrasion of the left thumb, and a paresthesia of the upper extremity. medical attention was required. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 10,825...updated 10/18/17 *bf updated 10/30/2017*js

The dash board has been showing since 2017 -2018 "service airbab systeem with the red airbag sign lit. the sign comes and goes. it has been taken to dealers 3 times and not corrected. chrysler has been called at the 18008531403 number. now the dealer want to charge me since it is 2,ooo miles over warranty for this defective vehicle. the build date of this vehicle is august 18, 2015. there was a recall with same issue for build dates april 7, 2014 to august 3, 2015. this is unfair since this car was buiilt during the time . a recall is necessary on these cars too! this is a safety hazard for my family. the cost should be born by chrysler.
I purchased my vehicle in 6/19/17 and immediately after a few rides i fault with the dealer about my airbag light coming on. i went to the dealership and they told me it was my airbag wiring harness and it would need to be replaced under both seats but it was not covered under warranty. there is no way i was paying for this when the car was practically new only approximately 42502 miles and i was having ongoing issues with my airbag light coming on. well now i am really feeling like this recall is larger than it is presented. also, the vehicle has electrical problems when i get things done to my vehicle. such as my transmission needing service, the malfunction indicator light, the abs, the traction, and electronic park brake failure. all these lights came on just from replacing a hub (bearings) on my passenger side. my main complaint is on the air bag issue. i just want to voice my frustration when multiple people tell me they do not know why my vehicle is giving me these notifications.
My 2016 chrysler 200 has detected an issue that requires your attention. it has been going on since 2017.. the vehicle's air bag warning light recently indicated the air bag system may not be working properly. the airbags in vehicle might not inflate in a collision, or they could inflate without a collision if i do not get the required service. this problem started over a year ago and i have taken it to the dealership and repair shop, and it was supposedly fixed. it is hard to believe that this problem is not worldwide. this airbag issue continues and i am asked to pay just to have them look at it everytime! i do not have the $150 just to search the vehicle tech system when being checked at the dealership. air bags
Transmission is slipping and can't seem to get into gear while driving and getting to freeway speeds can't reach a max of 55mph. have had the car completely stall out on the freeway and put itself into "neautral" while at freeway speeds. maintenance airbag lights frequently coming on. chrysler can't seem to find a fix to the issue on why this car is doing what it has been. they keep saying ithe issue is fixed when publicly there is no real fix to the issue and they don't know how to fix the re accruing problem. little to say, i am deathly afraid of driving this vehicle even down the street to my local grocery store. i work too hard and pay to much for my first brand new car to be having issues like these. i really wish chrysler would recall all of these vehicles already before someone ends up loosing a life over a faulty lemon of a vehicle.
Takata recall the side air bag did not deploy after my car was wrecked into . it totally destroyed the back door on the passenger side of my car and hit the front passenger door also. i was making a left turn and a car tboned me in the passenger side of my car.
