When decelerating at either a red light or to turn, car will completely shut off with no warnings or check engine lights. this started almost a month ago. then today everything locked up. all electrical lights came on along with the check engine light. there was no power when trying to get the vehicle back home. it should have been towed.
Car has shut off while driving last few weeks. it happened. as soon as i turned onto a road, going 20-30 mph, it has happened while trying to merge onto the freeway. the car just stalls, says "place in p to start" and then dies. the gearshift and wheel lock up and you have to turn the car off and attempt to restart. each time i had to try at least 3 times to get the car restarted. all lights come on dash, battery light included, but had battery checked and it is fine. trying to restart, it doesn't want to turn over. this has happened with several cars behind me and have almost been rear ended because of it. took it to the dealship but, all they told me to do was track my oil changes but, the problem still remains.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. the contact stated that the vehicle leaked transmission fluid and would intermittently stall while traveling over 40 mph. in addition, the traction warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 65,647.
I have a 2016 chrysler 200 and of you are a quart low the vehicle has a sensor which tells the vehicle to shut off it don't matter we're you are at and you can only go 1800 to 2000 miles till it burns that quart off so when the vehicle dies the power steering is turned off and the steering wheel locks so there is no way to get off the road you have to stop the car and put in park to start again i called the manufacturer and they told me that means so safty is working properly so they can't do anything but to me that seems like a safty hazard to anyone in the car to get rear ended or in a intersection
2016 chrysler 200 s with 94,000 miles shifts hard between gears, often feeling/sounding like it is slamming into gear. it surges when stopped at lights or stop signs and bucks and jerks during rapid acceleration.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. after making a complete stop, the vehicle stalled. while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle eventually surged ahead without warning. the contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic, but the failures could not be duplicated. the manufacturer was notified and stated that there were no recalls. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
Stop and go traffic for about 20 mins, once i entered the intersection the vehicle completely stopped without warning. i could not locate the emergency release to place the vehicle in neutral. car sat in the intersection got 1.5 hours.
My 2016 chrysler 200 stalls randomly in traffic on the highway. i was on my way home from ocean city, md when i hit traffic at the bay bridge. i was trying to switch lanes when i noticed my power steering was not working followed by a message on the screen stating to put the vehicle in park and restart the engine. vehicle restarted but was not shifting correctly. happened a second time in a similar situation. this is a major safety hazard. i don't even know where to begin looking for the problem because there is no check engine light indicating what is happening.
The transmission will change gear unexpectedly. cause my car to jerk shake and unusual long delay to accelerate at times even rev high while prolonged delay before accelerating. this has caused multiple situations that made the safety of driving this vehicle unpredictable and a hazard for me and other motorist.
This evening when driving my car the vehicle stalled out and cut off a number of three times within a 10 minute span. once while making a right turn out of the parking lot of my job, second when coming to a full stop at the parking lot entrance and last as i was begining the merge onto the highway from an on ramp. the day prior the car shut off completely a total of 5 times at various points throughout the day. my vehicle is regularly maintained by the service department where i purchased my vehicle brand new. there were no warning light or indicators that there was an issue. the only notification was to "shift car to park to start engine". this issue nearly caused a major accident when attempting to merge onto the highway this evening. this is highly concerning as this issue could potentially cost my family or myself our lives should the vehicle shut off at the wrong moment. i've searched numerous sites about this problem and it appears there are a lot of people experiencing this issue with the same year and model as well as ones produced prior to 2016. this concern is life threatening and should be treated as such with some form of remedy from the manufacturer.
My chrysler 200 started shifting really hard and as you're driving down the road you can feel it jerking. i called the chrysler dealership that is local to me took it in they only drove at 3 miles and decided there was nothing wrong with it except for a software update. i paid $132 for a labor charge for a software update that never fix the problem. took it back 2 days later they can't diagnose it with spark plug issues. paid $160 for spark plugs and labor just to have the same problem. they still after a week later have no idea what is wrong with my car. just wondering what kind of technicians actually work for chrysler.
This is [xxx]. how can a vehicle 2 years old have so many transmission issues to even count on one hand? i've been able to research hundreds of other examples of this very identical vehicle display the exact same issues my car exemplifies. are you guys just waiting for a tragic death to occur? if so, how about you guys refund us and drive the vehicles around for a while until that death occur. the lowlifes at chrysler need to be sued and charged for neglect. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled, but was able to restart after three attempts. there were no warning indicators illuminated; however, "place vehicle in park" was displayed. the vehicle was towed to richardson chrysler jeep dodge ram (1321 n central expy, richardson, tx 75080, (214) 329-0862) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. additionally, while driving at unknown speeds, there was an abnormal popping noise and the vehicle stalled. all of the warning indicators on the instrument panel illuminated. the vehicle was towed back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 35,550.
My car suddenly turned off as i was making a turn. i have fixed the car 2 times from the same thing and this will be the 3rd. i want to see if there's something associated with a recall about the computer module. it stalls to turn on, and when it does it won't go as far as a mile
On city streets when 9 speed transmission shifts from 4th gear to 5th gear the transmission shift jerks the car in a violent manner. this did not occur when vehicle was new.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. the contact stated that the starter failed twice and the vehicle was unable to be started. on a different occasion, the vehicle would not shift into park. the vehicle was towed to bob moore chrysler dodge jeep ram of tulsa (4627 s memorial dr, tulsa, ok 74145, (918) 663-6343). the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 38,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. while the contact's girlfriend was driving at an unknown speed, the engine and gear shifter seized. the vehicle was taken to sandy sansing chrysler dodge jeep ram (64348 us-90, milton, fl 32570, 850-623-6866) where it was diagnosed that the battery failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 51,000.
Vehicle stalls without notice in the middle of the road. can't display hazard lights. must return the car to park and wait a few minutes before restarting. stalled in the middle of a turn on my wife when taking my toddler o preschool. this is a huge safety concern! this vehicle is going to get someone killed.
The car began shifting hard and had been taken to the dealership twice for that issue. they completed a software update which did not correct the issue. today, 09-20-2018, the car was shaking violently when taking off and stopped moving. it was the shifted to park and would not go back to drive. it was then shut off and restarted and then shifted in to drive. it now shakes violently every time when taking off. it is scheduled for service again for the third time. there is about 42,000 miles on the car. the other issues occurred within the last month.
The pressure on my front drivers side isnt reading it at all at first i thought it was a an electrical so i changed it then a popping and clicking sound started so i went to a mechanic and they told me it was the cv axel joint i replaced it still persist they said it might be a valve ok i replaced still has the popping and clicking sound and to top it off when im pushing on the gas pedal to go faster the car for some reason pulls back they told me at the chrysler auto repaid it might be because it needs the transmission oil change i made an appointment and had it done but it still persists i don't know what else to do its cost me so much money to try to figure out what wrong with it and for some one on minimum wage its getting very difficult to continue paying this vehicle that has problems that just won't go away.
As i was in motion going about 20 mph with the car in drive (d), the car displayed a message as seen in the photo that states shift to park (p) to start. as, that message is displayed the steering wheel and the brakes lock up while the car is slowing down so you cannot shift the car to park until the car has come to a complete stop. once the car comes to a complete stop, i shifted my car back to park and tried to restart the car. the car wouldn't restart right away. the engine and transmission would make a noise as if it were trying to start with the rpm's fluctuating to about 3 (3000 rpms) then go back to 0 then jump to 1 (1000 rpms) then back to 0 rpms where the engine would give out. i would have to wait a minute, while in the middle of traffic, then it would restart and run normally again. i called chrysler corporate, due to the fact of having the whole transmission replaced while under warranty due to a transmission problem that grew after purchasing the car. leslie from chrysler gave me case id #: 34798487. i scheduled an appointment with darcars chrysler dodge jeep ram of silver spring located on 12511 prosperity dr, silver spring, md 20904 to bring the car to get serviced and the issue looked at on august 7th 2018 at 10:45 am. i am currently waiting for a diagnosis of the issue to be addressed by the dealership. please see pictures attached for more information.
Transmission is rough and unpredictable. each shift and downshift is felt in the throttle(feels like engine braking). transmission often causes the vehicle to accelerate or decelerate unintentionally. shifting gears seems to take longer than it should. transmission won't downshift sometimes when appropriate throttle is given. braking is jerky due to the transmission rough down shifting. city driving in this car is uncomfortable and dangerous due to all the issues listed above.
I was coming to a stop at a stop sign, i was at about 15mph when the dash lights came on. the parking brake activated and the transmission dropped out of gear as i came to a skidding halt. service transmission and service parking brake messages came up on the dash. then wouldn't shift into any other gears even with the transmission override pulled. luckily i was on a quieter road in my town.
The vehicle will stall while driving causing you to stop, place in park and restart. upon trying to restart it struggles to turn over. seems to be happening with the car has sat for awhile and is cold. the temp gauge shows nothing on it. i know the car will stall. if there is a line or more on the temp gauge on the dashboard it doesn't seem to have any issues. the vehicle is also not shifting from gear to gear properly. it seems to not catch when it should go to the next gear. the car will jerk.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. while driving at any speed, the transmission failed and the vehicle stalled. the failure occurred in the middle of traffic and the vehicle was almost struck by another vehicle. all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to jim marsh chrysler jeep (8575 w centennial pkwy, las vegas, nv 89149, (702) 946-9000) where it was diagnosed that a new power train control module was needed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the failure mileage was 40,000. dealer has fixed the problem (supposedly) concerning the computer malfunctions. now there is an air bag problem which will be taken to the dealer friday. transmission continues to jolt and almost stall out.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chrysler 200. while driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked and shut off. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled a couple of times without warning. the vehicle was taken to ancira chrysler jeep dodge ram (210-819-5383, located at 10807 w i h 10, san antonio, tx 78230) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and sided with the dealer. the contact was not called back by the manufacturer. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 11,000.
Vehicle has a hard time changing gears. when speeding up vehicle jerks hard and makes loud noice in tranmission area. passengers have noticed how it struggles to change gears. have taken into to dealer but they say they can not replicate problem. it also seems to surge randomly when coming to a stop. afraid i'll hit car in front of me. also dealer not able to repair.
Transmission is slipping and can't seem to get into gear while driving and getting to freeway speeds can't reach a max of 55mph. have had the car completely stall out on the freeway and put itself into "neautral" while at freeway speeds. maintenance airbag lights frequently coming on. chrysler can't seem to find a fix to the issue on why this car is doing what it has been. they keep saying ithe issue is fixed when publicly there is no real fix to the issue and they don't know how to fix the re accruing problem. little to say, i am deathly afraid of driving this vehicle even down the street to my local grocery store. i work too hard and pay to much for my first brand new car to be having issues like these. i really wish chrysler would recall all of these vehicles already before someone ends up loosing a life over a faulty lemon of a vehicle.
Bought new still under bumper to bumper warranty at about 24000 miles while driving the car entering the highway from the access road at approximately 37mph my vehicle just shut off almost as if had rebooted like a computer the wheel did not lock up first warning light read "airbag failure" then right after my parking/emergency brake light came on then tire pressure all while my shift knob flashed "p" if it wasn't a backup on the highway i would have been hit and caused a major pile up luckily i was able to engage the hazards and drift one lane over to the break down lane with no power to the brakes i had to press harder as i made it over to the side all of those lights went off, i was able to restart the car and then the engine light came on before i made it to my appointment at the dealer the engine light had gone off too. they could not recreate nor can tell me for sure what caused the failure
The transmission is switching gears hard like it is skipping a gear. seems like it is doing it between 1 & 3 or decelerating 3 to 1. it is worse during winter months. the jerk can be so hard sometimes.
Went to a store with a heavily sloped parking lot. approximately 15 to 20 degrees. parked car and went in side, returned to the car, started, and placed car in reverse, looked behind me for pedestrians and notice some people down a little ways.. proceeded to carefully pull out of the slopping parking space in reverse. applied slight pressure to brake pedal to shifted car into drive. removed foot from brake to apply foot to gas pedal with a little more pressure than usual due to the slop, to keep car from rolling backwards.. the car keep rolling in reverse due to the declining slop of the parking lot. car did not engage into drive and the engine revved up to high rpms and if not for a fast reaction from me returning my foot to brake after realizing what was going on, i could of easily ran into the people that i noticed earlier. not good! when i put my foot on the gas peddle to stop the car, the car went into gear and the car shook violently due to the high rpms. the people in the parking lot were also startled. this is the primary car for my wife and i asked her if the car has not gone into gear before. to my astonishment she said once. this car now sits in the garage awaiting the chrysler dealer to pick it up 27,997 miles. this kind of problem could easily do harmful bodily injury to a pedestrians or my wife. .
Vehicle lost power while pulling into traffic. 2016 chrysler 200 s with 2614 miles...engine was warm. i stepped on the gas and lost all power (electrical), followed by engine stall behavior, power loss, stall behavior, then transmission knob light flashes "d" and instrument cluster says to select gear again. was nearly rear ended and/or t-boned by oncoming traffic. dealer performed 4 flash updates today.
2016 chrysler 200. consumer writes in regards to vehicle starting hard and rough, electrical issues and front passenger door shutting hard. *ld the consumer stated the vehicle had multiple failures including the parking brake engaging on it's own, the accelerator pedal sticking, wiring systems, the air conditioner and transmission ruptured. the powertrain, control module, compressor, etc condenser was locked. the vehicle starts hard. there was a knocking noise on start up. the tire came off the vehicle while driving. while depressing the brake pedal the vehicle began to lurch forward. the lower ball joint failed. there was body a rim damage to the vehicle. the repair shop failed to repair the vehicle properly. *js
Bought this 2016 chrysler 200 s 4 cyclinder in july 2016 with only 4900 miles on it. car was a dealer program car still under factory warranty. today, 8/22/2016 at 6157 miles the car stalled while my teenage sons (3 of them) were driving on city streets to school (this is the car they drive everyday). the car stalled while driving three separate times losing all power with a message in the dash reading "shift to p". once shifted to park the car did start but only after making an odd noise while pushing in the ignition button. needless to say this is extremely dangerous to have a car lose power while on the road especially with new teenage drivers. bought this car in large part because of its safety ratings but this clearly is the exact opposite of safe. i will take to dealer in the morning to see what they say. lots of other complaints about same issue although most seem to be with the 2015 not 2016. nonetheless, how can one feel safe again putting their children behind the wheel? no idea what caused this issue. the drivetrain does not shift smoothly either particularly when transitioning from reverse to drive when coming to complete stop.
I was stopped at a red light, when the light turned green i stepped on the accelerator to go and could not move!! the car refused to shift! i looked down to check and make sure it was in drive and it was! i was nearly rear ended, people had to drive around me. it took around 20 to 30 seconds for my vehicle to shift into gear and move forward. while trying to move forward it revved to around 5,000 rpm. i have a child with me. what would happen if someone rear ended us? i know chrysler has numerous issues with the transmissions to these vehicles and i am sorry but they should not be allowed on the road with problems like this!!
The gear shift can be easily and accidentally knocked into reverse park or neutral while driving and wjrhout needing to apply brake. i was driving and my cellphone slid out of the cellphone mount and hit the knob and threw my into park while driving on the freeway at high 60 mph i was fast enough to move it back over to drive but it could have caused an accident or damage to the vehicle. this type of thing has happened on more than one occasion i accidentally put it in reverse while driving thinking i was moving the fan knob down at night while driving. also my friends son put my car into park while adjusting the temperature as well. you should never be able to move the gears so easily or in reverse or park without brake or pushing the knob down or something terribly unsafe!! all of the times this has occurred i was driving also there gave been times i thought my car was in park but was not was actually in reverse very dangerous
I just bought this car in march of 2016 and has been in dealership over 9 times already for the alignment, tires already going bald and the transmission. i was driving one day down a street that has a 55mph speed limit and the car just died and lost all power it wouldnt go at all so i had to pull over and restart the vehicle finally it went then ever since then the car shifts very rough and jerks you and the dealerships keep telling me that its the way the car is supposed to drive but i know its not also the service transmission light came but the dealer says that codes were there to show which was odd to me also another issue with this car is sometimes when i put it in drive, reverse etc the electronic ebrake just comes which almost had me hit a few times now i have had this car 3 months now and its in the shop more than i can drive. i would say this car is unsafe and highly advise not to buy
A few times pulling out into the traffic the car would fail to accelerate properly almost causing an accident. also, some times while driving the car seems as if its dying or loosing power. it is also rattling when i crank it up. the other thing is that the transmission while accelerating seems to take a while to switch gears and then the car jerks really hard when it finally shift gears. i've taken it in to the dealership and they just said that they checked it and cant find anything wrong but that they have had similar complaints but that "its just the fact that the car is a 4 cylinder." it's very scary pulling out into traffic.
Thereally is a problem with the transmission and electrical system with this car. my car jerks everyday when shifting from park to drive and it hesitates. i took to the dealership for service and was told it is supposed to drive like that until the car is adjusted to my driving style. also, onew day i was driving and out of nowhere in lose total power in the car. took it to the dealer and they found nothing wrong. i have a 7 year old who rides with me everyday. this car is not safe.
As i travel down the highway going about 50 to 60 mile an hour sometime the car jake's real hard into gear and also when i come to a complete stop and take off again going about 5 to 10 mph it shifts hard again.
