We have classified the 183 complaints from 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
I have had several problems with my window regulators, i had the switch and electrical replaced on the driver side door and i am having a problem with the window not working again. also, now the window regulator is broken on the passenger side door. at the same time i am also having an issue with the electrical, i can tell that in combination with the window problems the lighting on the dashboard where the light is dimmed on one side. overall, the windows are a huge safety concern with the fact they won't roll up or down depending on the issue and i'm concerned with the fire concern because it does it appear when the dealership fixed the driver side window there appeared to be melting of something that could have been burnt. *tr

Fuel gauge no longer reads correctly. problems began several weeks ago with a gasoline fill up. the gauge did not read correctly (empty) but righted itself after several miles. the gauge no longer corrects itself and reads empty practically all of the time, even when there is sufficient fuel in the tank. *tr
Electrical driverside door switch on my 2007 chevy trailblazer, went to roll window down and smelled melted plastic then door panel began to smoke alot. *tr
The fuel gauge level indicator just went from "full" to "empty", it just went that fast. minutes before it had just been filled at the gas station. when starting, the gauge rises then falls to empty. on occasions the warning message, "please tighten gas cap" comes on. now months later, same problem; after contacting "gm" hotline, they still have not shown any concern. i keep track of miles driven since last fill-up and gas used, so i know when it is time to fill-up. i have read many same complaints, and i wonder why "gm" has not issued a recall. it is now 08/21/2012 and problem is still ongoing. can you please help. please. "gm" has on numerous occasions suggested that the wire harness on top of the gas tank needs to be replaced, to do so, requires a five (5) hour visit and they expect the customer to pay half the cost. please help.
Gas gauge registers at start-up, but drops to empty within five minutes of starting while vehicle is running with no way to evaluate how much fuel is left in the tank. *tr
My husband was driving with the whole family in the car, it was raining that morning and only a minute into our drive, the drivers door window rolled down by itself...he pushed the switch for the window to go back up..the window went back up and not even 30seconds later it rolled down again on its own...at about the same time smoke started billowing out of the drivers door, the smoke filled the car, it smelled like an electrical fire. we were only a block from home so we took the car home, pulled the interior from the door where we discovered the switches that control the locks, windows, and side mirrors were all melted and still smoking...we disconnected all the switches and are without use of any drivers door electrical switches. *tr updated 10/03/12*lj updated 10/04/2012 *js
I was driving my 2007 chevy trailblazer xl when i smelled the odor of burning plastic. i pulled over to the side and began to examine the interior of the vehicle, i observed smoke coming out of the drivers side door electrical control panel. i then turned off the vehicle and exited leaving the drivers side door open to observe. the smoke than subsided, but the control panel which is used to open the windows, doors and unlock the door was no longer functioning. i drove home at which time i opened up or removed the drivers side control panel. the plastic casing was melted and burned. i than referred to the owners manual and located the fuse box and the fuse, which was burned out, this may have stopped the fire or short. there is no explained reason way this panel shorted out and started a potential fire. i have not consulted the chevy dealer or gm yet. i have been given information by a independent mechanic that this is a common problem with this model year. *tr
#1-the fuel gauge stopped working on this vehicle while going down the highway. i went online to see if i could get an answer for why it would just suddenly quit working. it was there that i found hundreds of people who experienced the same problem. when i called chevrolet about it, they said they could fix it for $500. i ended up having just the fuel sending unit replaced about 5 months ago and am now experiencing the same problem again. chevrolet is fully aware of the problem, as they sent me a paper saying that if i got it repaired at a chevy garage they would reimburse 50% of the costs. to me having been an issue for many years chevy should pay to have the problem fixed not me! #2- during routine driving we attempted to roll down the driver side window and it failed to operate properly. i tried it a couple of times and had no luck. when i reached my destination i looked to see if maybe a wire was cut in the door hinge area, which it wasn't, and put my finger on the switch and noticed it was extremely warm. i shut the car off, left the door opened and allowed it to cool down. it works intermittently and still gets very warm when it doesn't work properly. *tr
Fuel gauge failure, inaccurate reading. fuel guage stays on empty. driver has to rely on tripometer to guess range to determine when to fill gas tank.
Gas gauge has been very inaccurate. gauge will read full after fill up for approx. 20 minutes of driving, after that it will read empty with the low fuel light on. for my safety i am filling up every few days because i have no idea how much fuel is in there. i have been using my trip odometer to use a some base line. my fear is i will be pulling into traffic and it will run out of gas. i believe there should be a recall on this as it is a major safety issue.
The driver side window switch burned up and melted inside while vehicle was unattended. the window switch is now inoperable. *tr updated 10/19/12 *cn updated 10/23/2012 *js
Experienced inaccurate fuel gauge readings while driving. *tr
Fuel gauge stated i had enough fuel and i ran out of gas. it happened again just 2 months ago and i received a letter from gm telling me this might happen and that they will cover 50% of the cost. that's not good enough, i see complaints all over the internet. this needs to be a recall!!!! *tr
My 2007 gm trail blazer's fuel gauge began to show an empty tank when i would fill it up, and then when i would drive for a while, it would register full. eventually the engine light started coming on and going off at random. i took the vehicle to a garage and was told it would cost approx. $800.00. i could not afford that, so i started inquiring about the fuel pump and fuel sending unit. eventually i found a web site where i could purchase the sending unit for approx. half the retail price. i ordered the sending unit, took the vehicle to a garage to have it repaired and have not had any other problems with either the gauge not registering properly or the engine light coming on. if this investigation becomes a recall, since i have already made the repairs, can i be reimbursed? i would appreciate your response when your decision is made. thank you. *tr
Fuel gauge incorrect readings resulting in several 'out of gas' situations. this has happened on busy express ways, remote rural areas, etc. safety issues. vehicle also has random warning lights that seem to come and go at will.
Gas gauge does not work. reads empty even after vehicle is filled with fuel. check engine is always on because of gauge problem. *kb
Vehicle instrument panel lights come on intermittently. first the traction control light then the tire light. lights would either come on and stay on or blink, they would eventually go off or would clear when trailblazer started. took to dealer while under warranty and was told that there was a patch for the electrical system and it was corrected, the next week the problem began again. returned to the dealer and said nothing was wrong. a few months later, i took vehicle in for a routine oil change and mentioned that i was still having trouble with the lights, i was told that it was a computer problem and that it would cost 400.00 to fix. (the auto was no longer under warranty) i asked dealer why they couldn't find anything wrong when car was under warranty but can find something now. they told me that it was a different problem. smells fishy to me. now my check engine light is on and i am not certain if it is the problem with the "computer chip" or there is a legitimate problem with the vehicle. i bought this vehicle with 22,000 miles on it and have had the problem since day one. until i can afford to fix this problem, i cannot be certain if there is a real problem with the tires, traction control or engine. *tr
At 45,000 miles i have had to have the tierods replaced and there is still something wrong with the passenger side wheel assembly, but they can't seem to figure out what the squeak is. it could be a bearing i have been told, but they don't know without tearing it all down. 2nd is the power window on the drivers side is getting slower to come up and i can smell wires burning at times (although i am not sure if the 2 are related) i have also had to replace the "idler pulley" at 42,000 miles.....this seems ridiculous as it keeps turning out to be one thing after another????? *tr
Vehicle lights always on. check engine! gas gauge paid 600 dollars to fix and still check engine light on due to emission problem. car has 50000 miles and is a lemon.. *tr
on vacation with my family last summer the windows upon entering the vehicle started to go up and down all by themselves. it almost caught my sons arm inside of it. after a few minutes the windows stopped and remained down. we couldn't get them to go back up for a few hours and had to leave them down overnight. the next morning my husband went out, turned the key, pushed the buttons and they all went back up. he told us not to touch the windows just in case weren't able to get them back up. once we returned from vacation i took it to a suggested mechanic as per my warranty company. they diagnosed it as the master window switch, the gentlemen told me that they are about 2-3 hundred dollars and are not covered under warranty, imagine that!well i paid the gentlemen for his time and have been without windows for over a year now because i make my 500 payment every month and do not have the extra money not only for the part but then for labor and to have it programmed by an authorized dealer. now i see that this is a common problem with this year trailblazer, are we waiting for someone to die before we issue a recall? i sent an email to gm about it and they did contact me, what they said is to once again have it diagnosed at an authorized gm dealer (ok more $) then they would look at the report and if they ok it i would then be reimbursed for everything (ok good one) i just had it diagnosed and still have the report but i need to get another one, come on people i don't make your salary and have 2 kids to support! . so i took it, well when i talked to the gm dealer they said just to look at it will be about 100 so i cancelled the appointment. that is very sad that gm would knowingly let this go on with out offering to fix the problem. i will never buy another gm motors vehicle in my life, sad to say that i will be buying not made in the usa vehicles from here on out. *tr updated 8/22/12 *cn
While driving down a highway vehicle lost 100% of all electrical power. no headlights, wipers, radio, nothing. after pulling to the road side, turned ignition key to off and attempted to restart vehicle. vehicle started right back up. following day scanned for fault codes, none were found. *tr
First occurrence, driver window would not go down early summer 2010. i brought it into the chevy i bought my car from and the window part was replaced. from time to time i would smell burning but i didn't think it was my car, it didn't happen every time i was driving so i couldn't explain it to chevy. i got into an accident january 2012 and had to bring it to a body repair shop and thy noticed the driver door electrical system has melted. since it's a 2007 my warranty is expired and i paid the body shop to replace the part $425. i called chevy because i saw in the news that these parts are being investigated for catching on fire and they said that the next time i smell burning or melting i need to bring it to them right away. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact noticed that the instrument panel failed and the anti lock brake, tire pressure, check engine, and gas symbols were illuminated. the contact was unable to determine how much fuel was in the vehicle because the fuel level indicator would provide an inaccurate reading of empty whenever the vehicle was refueled. both the dealer and manufacturer advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for repairs at her expense. the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who advised her to take the vehicle to the dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the current mileage is 32,000 and the failure mileage was 29,000. updated 07/21/11 *bf updated 07/29/11
Antiskid warning lights always on indicating an antiskid malfunction. low tire pressure light always on even though tires are adequate. check engine light comes on for a few days/weeks and turns off again. had the vehicle checked and there was no indication that anything was wrong. fuel gauge reads empty even when full. all lights have turned off while driving down the road. tried to shut off the engine, even removed the key, but the engine remained running. *tr
While driving on 96 freeway, my suv shut off without warning. ever since then it continued to shut off at random times. had the ignition switch replace and would like to be refunded for the repairs. i just seen on the fox news that general motors is recalling vehicles of my year that's why i'm reporting. *tr
I have experienced problems with my 2007 chevy trailblazer since i purchased this car. the transmission messed up originally and now i am having problems with my gas gauge indicator. this recent problem started last year 2010. the levels were reading inaccurately at that time and seemed to have repaired itself. the beginning of this year, the indicators stopped working again. i never know how much gas is in my truck and i am paranoid and constantly going to the store to add more gas. i am understanding that this appears to be a problem with the majority of chevy vehicles and gm actually knows that the problem exist and has done absolutely nothing to help the millions of loyal customers that purchased these cars. there is no reason that this all should be happening to my vehicle that i purchased brand new; so i am the original and only owner. is there any help for the consumers that have purchased gm vehicles. i could see if this was a problem with one line of vehicles manufactured by gm but this problem appears to be all across the board. i have run out of gas numerous of times because i never know how much gas is in this vehicle. this is absolutely insane that gm can scam millions of customers and not fix a known problem. *tr
I bought this 2007 chevy trailblazer and baby it like there was no tomorrow. now everything is breaking. first it was the racking pinion steering. some how the seal busted. second, the fuel gauge began to register empty even though it was full and joint ball went bad making some vibration and squealing sound. i got the fuel gauge fixed and joint ball, now the struts that lift rear window doesn't work. i was so eager to get this trailblazer but it is costing me more money than what it is worth. *tr
Filled my tank and drove away the morning of the incident. while driving later that day my fuel gauge started going down while driving. it went to empty the low gas indicator light came on and it stayed that way for a few minutes before returning to full. this only happened 1x so far recently. i've also had problem with all the gauges going out while driving. speedometer/fuel/ electrical/tach etc. had to turn off the vehicle and restart to reset these functions in the past. 2-3x an had onstar run diagnostics. the electric stability control has also been coming on/off intermittently quite frequently at startup and at other times while driving. i've seen similar complaints on chat boards but few have take the steps to document them beyond the postings. there are many similar complaints on the web. thank you *tr
After moving halfway across the country, i noticed that my fuel gauge would say it was full for way too long, then at about 3/4 tank, drop basically to empty. after about 3 months, the gauge began to never report that it had anything in it. to this day, it never reads anything other than empty, with the warning light on and the initial warning on the dash stating that the fuel is low. no changes to the car's normal usage were made. the failure has never corrected. i have not had the fuel gauge repaired or replaced because it is a costly fix, and i can do the math to know when i need to fill up based on mileage. *tr
The electronics on my 2007 chevy trailblazer have gone out which includes the brake lights and the fuel gauge. the repair on the brake lights was minimal but it will cost over $800 to repair the fuel guage. chevrolet has known about these problems for years but has not attempted to fix them or recall the vehicles. *tr
Chevy vehicles have had multiple problems with their tpms (tire pressure monitoring system) on all vehicle types. the failure occurs at the wheel itself. although this is a safety device, it has turned into a useless piece of equipment which no owner can afford to keep up with . what happens is that the pressure monitor system at the wheel is very sensitive and fails quickly. the amount of repair for one unit costs approximately $200, and that is for one wheel. chevy should be doing a recall on all vehicles, that have the tpms system. this problem is not unique to one vehicle, if you do a google search on tpms and chevy or gm you'll find that this is a common problem. after i had the first one replaced the dealer told me that i shouldn't bother because it will only fail again. the dealer also said that he wishes that chevy would install a better system, because it will advise you that your tpms is not working properly, and after it fails, drivers will ignore the message, which is a larger safety issue. i don't know how the dot would allow gm to continue to use faulty parts which is a safety related item. the consumer shouldn't have to pay for their mistakes, and hopefully a person doesn't lose their life before action by the dot. i hope to see a recall issued soon. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the driver's side window was open and there was an odor of smoke. the vehicle was taken to an independent where they advised the contact that the door mechanism was melted. the vehicle was repaired for the door mechanism. the manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000. updated 04/10/12*lj updated 04/16/12
Check engine lightstarted coming on, then the stabil-trax and the engine deceleration light started coming on. when this started, the engine would shut down every time the lights came on.at first it was at intervals of 40 to 140 miles. whenever the engine first started this, you could shut the ignition off for 1-2 min. , then the vehicle could be started and driven until the lights came on. dotson chevrolet, in big sonne gap, va. ( where we bought vehicle), has had the vehicle off and on for 6 weeks. they have changed the sending unit in the fuel tank, and the pcm module on the engine so far. as of today, 10-19-09 the vehicle is now shutting down at 8-10 miles. they say they are still checking , but now they are thinking the problem may be in the wiring. so far, we have luckily been driving in light traffic, where we were able to get out traffic to the side of the road, without any problem. if this problem occurs on the interstate of in heavy traffic , it could cause a serious accident. the dealer says the have been in contact with gm about the problem. i would have thought that gm would have tech people, of engineers that would know why the codes and lights don't correspond when this occurs, or would have some idea what might cause such a problem. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving 55 mph, the anti-theft system flashed three times on the instrument panel before the fuel line failed. the vehicle lost power and the contact managed to pull the vehicle over and turn it completely off. after 15 minutes, she attempted to restart the vehicle and then turned it back off. she restarted the vehicle a few times before driving back on the freeway. the dealer performed a diagnostic, but there were no failure codes showing up on the computer. the dealer discovered that the ignition switch shorted internally. they replaced the ignition switch, but were unable to confirm if the vehicle is permanently repaired. the current and failure mileages were 32,000. updated 08/14/09. *lj the consumer stated since the dealer replaced the ignition switch, the vehicle continues to shut off because there is a problem with the anti-theft system. updated 08/17/09.*jb
My 2007 new trailblazer started on fire while it was off and parked for over 12 hours in may of 2008. after 2 and 1/2 months of not having my truck it was determined to be an electrical short. gm admitted it was a fault of theirs seeing as my truck was not even a year old and purchased new. ever since the car was returned back to me the indicator lights go on and off and today i was driving and the check engine came on. i immediately took it in to have it looked at and was told that there is an electrical short and a fire could have started again had i not brought this in sooner. so for the 2nd time i am risking my life everytime i drive this truck! *tr
Tl* the contact submitted an email and requested that the official ivoq be written verbatim to the email: i have a 2007 trailer blazer and had these problems for 2 years. gas gauge would show 1/4 to 1/2 tank but ran out of fuel twice. gauge shows empty all the time now. service department said it's a bad sensor in tank and will cost $ 800.00 to fix. this has been a problem with gm for 3 or 4 years. 1,000's of complaints on different forums. the failure mileage was 30,000. updated 09/27/11 *bf updated 10/11/11
I have a problem where the throttle hangs up around 2000 rpm in all gears after being on the throttle and then immediately needing to slow down for any reason. this is a trailblazer super sport equipped with the 395 hp 400 ft lb engine. i have been to the dealer. i have sued gm for this being a lemon and was paid off. yet no fix. i have video of this happening. other owners have the same problem and gm says because others do it the vehicle is acting as designed. per george valez gm legal office . gm service request # 71-661522934 "high idle" i have logs where the acceleration takes place from 9 mph to 11 mph for 11 seconds of a tbss wild ride with no throttle. i start by downshifting it in manual 1st while slowing down. (brakes required to slow from 2k hang up rpm on down.) when the engine is slowing down there is a bump at ~2000 rpm where the engine speed raises above the input shaft speed of the transmission. prior to this it was turning slower and compression braking. time here is 0 of the 11 seconds. i hit the brakes at 14 mph to pull the speed down from 2k rpm and let off at 9mph 3 seconds later. starting at 1381 rpm for the lowest engine rpm, trans input shaft 50 rpm slower then the engine indicating acceleration. ac clutch just happens to kick in here. "here we go!" i say. the next 8 seconds we have the engine hits 1650 rpm and hunts around this rpm +- 75 rpm while we hit 11 mph. at 8.4 seconds the engine cuts back to 1468 rpm. this is when the trans input speed is faster than the engine rpm by around 50 - 70 rpm, this indicates engine finally slowing the vehicle again. it only takes 5 seconds from this point to slow down from 11 mph to 5mph without any brakes. that is what is scary - 16 seconds of fighting the engine when it could have stayed cut out and slowed down in less than 5 seconds from 2k rpm. the ac in this example makes the problem ...
