Problems with 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

On average, the 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE and its various aspects after 59 777 miles.

Recently reported FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE problems on 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

I ran out of gas and the car locked up while driving because my fuel gauge went out....updated 08/25/15*bf

Some times fuel gauge reads empty and some times reads full and still it may a third empty or 16 gallons full. *tr

Fuel gauge acts radically going from empty to full. at this time is cause the vehicle to stop and go as if it's out of gas. this has happen at 55 miles an hour to low as 35 mph. this has happen with in traffic almost causing the person from behind to hit me at high speeds. this has happen in a part of the city where a person like me, a white, female, and alone at the time could have lost a lot due to the high crime rate in the area. *tr

I filled the vehicle up to full with gasoline. the bell chimed shortly thereafter and low fuel light, and warning came on showing low fuel. a few days later the check engine light came on. i received a notice from gm in 2013 about a possible problem with early wear of the fuel sensor causing this problem. they covered the expense of repair up to 120,000 miles. we now have 134,000 miles on this vehicle and the problem just came up, so will not be covered by gm. i have read many complaints about this problem with the trailblazer online, so i know the problem has been identified by gm. i cannot afford the repair at this time and believe gm is not recalling this fuel sensor problem as they should be doing. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel sensor gauge indicated that the fuel tank was half full when the vehicle shut off because the fuel tank was empty. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the fuel gauge sensor was faulty. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact also indicated that the tire air sensor indicated that air in the front drivers side tire was low but after inspecting the vehicle the contact discovered that air in the rear drivers side tire was low. the failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was 80,000.

I was leaving work headed home, and my gas gauge read 1/2 a tank of gas. as i was going up a hill my truck slowly comes to a complete stop. this was a very dangerous place to be in 5pm traffic. luckily no one was hurt.11. *tr

The car register empty when i have just filled up the car, and the tired gauge light comes on. *tr

The fuel sending unit has failed. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated while driving various speeds the fuel gauge displayed the fuel tank was empty and a chime sounded even though there was fuel in the tank. the defect had not been diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 55,000. updated 09/05/13*lj

The gas gauge began to fluctuate from 1/4 tank to "empty" fuel low and the warning chime went off. there was at least 5 gallons of gas in the tank. i clear the fuel used and trip a every time i fill the tank so i always know roughly how many gallons are in the tank. so i knew when the fuel low light came on this was not true. i shut the vehicle off for a minute and restarted it and the fuel low indicator remained on but over the next 3-5 minutes the gauge returned to the 1/4 tank position. this issue occurred 3 more times but has not occurred long enough for me to bring it to the repair shop to show them proof of the fuel indicator or gas gauge sending unit is failing. since this problem has occurred with other people i wanted to add my complaint to the list as i feel this is an ongoing problem with the trailblazer line and im hoping for a full recall. i owned a gmc jimmy before this and the same exact problem occurred with the jimmy. im waiting for the failure to present itself again so i can take it for repair. but now that i have seen other complaints and see that chevy has acknowledged it with a 50% off repair offer, im hoping i can just get the repair done. so while no big safety issue occurred, there is potential for it. *tr

Fuel gauge does not work properly - it shows empty (and beeps) after a fillup. it never shows the proper level of fuel. *tr

Vehicle stalled in traffic. found no fuel in system even though fuel indicator noted a half tank. a week after this the low fuel light came on 15 miles after filling the tank. it has been on ever since and will not go off. we now have to keep track of fuel by using the trip computer. *tr

I had gone to a friends house and on the way home my power steering malfunctioned. i took the vehicle to a local auto repair shop and was told the power steering cooler had rusted through. i also had to replace this part on my 2003 trailblazer not realizing there was a problem. if this part rusts out on different years of the same model there seems to be a problem. the vehicle became very hard to steer. i know for a fact that i and many other people have had problems with transmission lines gasoline lines and power steering lines. i had to replace the gasoline line and fuel pump on the 2003 , and just replaced transmission line on the 2007. i think there needs to be an engineering change on these vehicles. i also received a recall notice on the 2007 trailblazer for the electric window switch. the notice said i would be notified when to bring my vehicle in. it has been several months since i received the notice and i am still waiting for notification. it cost me $350.00 to have the power steering repaired.. *tr

As i was driving home from work i was traveling about 45 mph on 2 lane state route. my fuel low indicator light came on and car shut off immediately. luckily i was able to get to side of road and get hazard lights turned on before an accident could occur. after filling tank everything seemed normal. then about 3 months later again the low fuel indicator light comes on and car shuts off immediately. again i was able to avoid an accident by getting car to side of road and using hazard lights. after this incident we filled the tank and the low fuel indicator stayed lit, then went off, fuel gauge showed full, then 1/2, then 3/4, then low fuel light back on (all this happened in the 12 miles to get home). now the low fuel light stays on and the only way to know how much fuel is to refuel every few hundred miles and that is wrong. *tr

2007 chevrolet trailblazer. consumer writes in regards to defective gas gauge *tgw the consumer stated the gas gauge needle always read empty and the low fuel light always stayed on. the sealer informed the consumer there was a defect and a recall had been issued. he was informed part of the repair would be paid by gm and he would be responsible for remaining. the consumer stated he never received any type of recall notice in the mail. the consumer stated he should not have to pay for a part that was recalled.

Vehicle was parked with all doors locked and the vehicle not running. the remote unlock button was engaged and all doors unlocked with the exception of the driver door. the remote unlock was engaged 3 to 4 more times. the door was manually unlocked from passenger's side. when the door was opened, smoke was pouring out of the inside. we poured available liquids down the window slot but smoke was still pouring out. while my spouse went inside the business where we were parked to grab a pitcher of water, i jerked the plastic oval piece around the inside door handle off and saw flames. he returned with the pitcher and we poured the water down the open hole at the door handle and finally managed to extinguish the flames. we drove the vehicle home but none of the door functions worked at all. it is going to cost me approximately $600 to fix this issue. i have been afraid to drive my trailblazer since that time. also the fuel gauge quit working about 3 months ago. we finally fixed that issue today. the next issue to repair after the door is the heat/air actuator as the air conditioning no longer comes thru my air conditioning vents. *tr.. updated 08-27-12 *bf the consumer also stated the fuel gauge stopped working. updated 08/28/12

I will soon be replacing my 3rd fuel pump. you can not purchase a sending unit separately and you can not replace a fuel filter for maintenance. also the master window switch stopped operating yesterday after a burning smell filled the truck. the master window switch is melted. had issues with i first bought the truck with it "shutting down" on the highway, no gas, no power steering, no control. received a year of free oil changes from chevy after a complaint was filed, they still to this day can not tell my why my truck would randomly shut down. *tr ....updated 06/18/12 *bf updated ivoq 06/20/12

I have a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. after filling the gas tank, the fuel gauge reads "full". as i drive, it steadily drops to about 2/3 full, then it suddenly drops to "empty". as i continue to drive, the gauge begins to rise, and after a few seconds was back to "empty". this repeats now after every fill. as i search the internet, i find that this is a very common chevrolet trailblazer problem. has it become a recall? *tr

After filling my tank, the gauge would drift between full and empty and then settle on the empty side. now it does not even move from that location! *tr

Fuel gauge fluctuation. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact was driving 30 mph when the fuel gauge provided an erroneous reading of empty. the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the mechanic confirmed that the fuel sensor needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure and the current mileages were 56,000.

Living in maine, it's not like there are gas stations on every street corner. i left for work one morning, knowing i had plenty of gas, my surprise approximately half way there, my gas light came on. the gauge was on empty. i was in a panic, i still had about 15 miles to go before i was near a gas station. i finally got to a gas station, and surprise again, it only took about 10 gallons to fill it. i did some research about this problem, there have been over 800,000 complaints on fuel gauge problems on these type vehicles!! come on, times are tough, i can't afford to get this fixed.. do a recall!! *tr *kb

After putting in 13 gals of fuel, the gauge goes back & forth from full to empty. the cause the empty light to come on. the gauge goes back to half. this just occurred. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving approximately 20 mph, the contact noticed the fuel gauge displayed an inaccurate reading which indicated the fuel tank was empty. the fuel tank consumed half the fuel level capacity when the malfunction occurred. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the fuel lever sensor was replaced. the contact was responsible for fifty percent of the repair cost due to the manufacturer's extended warranty. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 28,019. ..updated 09/07/12 *bf the consumer stated the fuel gauge read 3/4 full. after driving about 15 miles, the fuel gauge alarmed to notify the tank was near empty. gm had a "special coverage" not a recall. updated 09/17/2012 *js

Fuel gauge inaccurately reads empty when tank has been filled. fuel gauge will jump from empty, to 3/4 tank, to 1/2 full to 1/4 tank and back to empty with fuel light and audio warning within less than 5 minutes. when this happens check engine light comes on. *tr

My fuel gauge no longer works. i also have no power anything on my drivers side door. *tr

Fuel gauge drops to empty with low fuel light coming on, no matter how much gas is in vehicle. sometimes it fluctuates back and forth. never sure how much gas is in vehicle. which this creates a big problem since i transport handicap people in my vehicle. also driver side window operates very slow, sometimes it hesitates on rolling up. i have to let it set for a while, then try rolling it up again. after several times doing this, it has finally rolled up all the way. i think the dealer should fix these problems, without consumer paying for any of it. especially since these seem to be ongoing problems. i have been lucky reference my door panel hasn't caught fire yet, which could cause a serious traffic accident. also my slick, skid control lights come on very easily when i take off and stay on till i can shut the car off and restart it, and hope doesn't come back on when i start to drive. *tr

Gas gauge stop working. *tr

Fuel gauge sending unit has failed. the fuel gauge no longer reads accurately. it will show empty with the check engine light on while the tank in full, also masking an actual check engine problem. it also shows full fuel when the tank is less than half full. *tr

The fuel gauge on my 2007 chevy trailblazer began fluctuating from proper fuel level reading to empty at around 74,000 miles. after few weeks of this, the fuel gauge now consistently reads empty after driving 115 - 120 miles on a full tank, which indicates a failure of the fuel sensing unit. i am driving the vehicle based on the trip odometer and i have run out of gas twice since this is not a reliable way to estimate the amount of fuel in the tank. both times i was on my way to work a on heavily traveled bridge with no shoulder. this is a huge safety hazard!!! also at around 75,000 miles the driver side door lock stopped working and the electronic stability control off light and electronic stability control maintenance light periodically turn on. *js

The fuel gauge in my 2007 chevy trailblazer continuously drops to empty shortly after starting my car, despite having a full tank. this happens every time i drive my car no matter how much gas is in the tank. *tr

Fuel sensor never gives correct reading causing me to run out of gas on 2 separate occasions, also the drivers side door control panel keeps going on and off only working some of the time and going in and out as i am driving. *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge was stuck on zero and he was unable to determine how much fuel was in the vehicle. on one occasion while driving 65 mph, the vehicle ran out of fuel. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vin was unavailable. the failure and the current mileages were 95,000. updated 02/15/12*bf the fuel level sensor failed. updated 04/18/12

The first time the tank read empty was on november 23, 2011 when there was about 1/4 a tank of gas in the vehicle. the gauge went back and forth between empty and just over making the light and noise come on. today november 27, 2011 it came on after fueling a little over 9 gallons of gas in the vehicle. i pulled over to the side of the road to see if turning the car off an restarting the vehicle would reset it, it didn't work. we continued on with the light on and did what we needed to do. we went to the gas station and filled the tank the rest of the way and it still showed empty with the light coming on. *tr

The first time i noticed there was a problem with the fuel gauge sensor in my '07 trailblazer, i had about 1/3 of a tank of gas when i parked and turned the engine off to go into a store. when i started the engine again, the fuel gauge went to empty and the low-fuel light came on. i went to fill the tank and only needed about 11 gallons, which is when i confirmed the gauge was wrong. the gauge continued to show empty and has ever since. i am now doing my best to keep track of fuel by estimating usage based on the miles driven after each fill-up. i've been reading up on the recall and i'm outraged that gm is still only offering to pay for half of the repair costs if done at a dealer, which, by the way is why i haven't had this repair done yet. i've read in some cases there have been estimated costs between $700 and $1200. so if gm is only going to pay half of the cost, i'm looking at potentially $600 or so to repair something that gm has admitted is a problem. i cannot afford this repair, and i hope that i am able to keep track of my gas based on mileage so i never run out of gas, especially with my two young children in the vehicle. i also don't believe i or any other vehicle owner should have to pay for something that has been recalled by the manufacturer. gm should accept responsibility if they want to keep their loyal customers happy and keep them coming back. is there any help out there for people in my situation? i know the recall was issued, i know gm has only offered to pay half of the cost, but what about people who cannot afford this additional expense? i know there are many. *tr

Approximately a month ago my low fuel indicator light came on and my fuel gauge reflected empty despite filling up my gas tank just hours earlier. since that time this has kept happening and seems to always indicate an empty tank despite the fact that it is incorrect. evidently this issue is very common with my vehicle and i feel that it needs to be documented. this is a huge safety concern due to the fact that i am never sure exactly how much fuel that i have in my vehicle. after calling the dealership i was told that this is an approximate $400 total repair. gm stated that they will pay for 1/2, however this is still a large out of pocket expense. they also stated that i will only get the 1/2 off as long as i bring my vehicle to the dealership. gm should have issued a 100% total recall on this component since its so widespread. i have no alternative but to pay for this repair at their dealership. *tr

Fuel gauge not working properly. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated the fuel gauge was providing inaccurate fuel levels. the contact stated that when refueling, the fuel gauge would read accurately but would fail after several moments after driving. the dealer was contacted and advised that the fuel sensor failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was unknown. the vin was not available.

The gas gauge was showing that the tank was empty although it had been filled less than 100 miles earlier. when i filled the tank right after the light went on - i was only able to put 8 gallons of gas in it. the gauge then would move from empty with the warning light coming on to half full and back down during the trip immediately following the fill up. once the vehicle was started the following morning, the gauge went to full but shortly after went back to empty. now it continues to read inconsistently every trip moving back and forth between full and empty and other times remaining on empty with the warning light on for an entire trip. *tr

Fuel gauge when driving will show inaccurate gas level. drops down to empty a lot after you pumped. gas will fill up after pump on gage, but almost close to half when driving will go down and hit empty when gas is in vehicle. *tr

I had started my truck to let it warm up, after coming back out i noticed the gas gauge was incorrect, i turned off the truck and started it again and watched the gauge go from 3/4 of a tank to 1/2. i took it to see if the battery or alternator was bad, the battery tested bad, so i replaced it. the truck was working fine, until 2/26/12, after driving about 30 miles i noticed the gauge had gone from 3/4 to 1/2. while sitting at a light i watched it then go from 1/2 to 1/4 of a tank. i drove to get gas and it only took $21.00 to fill it. after reading all of the complaints on this problem, i do not understand how there has not been a recall on this product, and why the manufacturer is only willing to pay for half of the repair. i paid alot of money for this product and do not feel that the company is looking out for us. i feel that chevrolet needs to make this problem a recall and make it right with all the people that have stood by them. *tr

I would like to add my complaints about the 2007 chevy trailblazer fuel sensor issues. the gas gauge when i bought the vehicle at about 55,000 miles worked but not accurately over the last few months the sensor has stopped working all together and constantly shows an empty tank. i generally by gas twice a week to limit the possibility of running out and was actually on my way to the gas station when the vehicle ran out of gas while i was on a highway. to me that is a danger to myself and other drivers and the more that i have researched the issue i see that it appears to be a common one that i would feel the nhtsa would be justified in issuing a recall notice for. thanks. *tr

First indication of the problem was erratic level readings on the fuel gauge as well as engine problem indicator illuminated. now the fuel gauge indicates empty at all times even when the tank is full, engine light stays on. these faults are very disconcerting as well as being dangerous. what if a legitimate engine problem develops? what if we mis-calculate the amount of fuel that is in the tank and we are on some highway in rush hour traffic or somewhere late at night? in my opinion, chevrolet should take care of this defect, the consumer should not have to pay one (1) dollar for a faulty part. i can honestly say that this will be the last chevrolet that i will ever own if they do not do the right thing. i work with a lot of auto enthusiasts and i have told some of them about this vehicles' issues, they are not impressed. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact was driving approximately 45 mph and noticed that the fuel gauge fluctuated and failed to register an accurate reading. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the constant malfunction. the failure mileage was approximately 52,000. updated 02/03/12*lj

I received a letter advising me of the possibility of the fuel sensor in my 2007 chevy trailblazer malfunctioning. about one week prior to receiving the notice, the fuel gauge began falling to empty and the low fuel warning sounding, even when i had just filled the tank. the letter advises that gm will only cover half of the repair cost. obviously, this was a problem with the vehicle when i purchased it new and i see no reason why gm should not be responsible for the entire cost of the repair. also, why has there been no recall for this problem? *tr

With a full tank of gas the fuel gauge stopped working and now reads empty all the time. the check engine light comes on and off depending on how much fuel is in the tank.this trailblazer had only 36,500 miles on it when this started. i believe the dealer should pay for all the repairs as this is a safety hazard. *tr

Filled by my 2007 chevy trailblazer yesterday and the fuel gauge reads empty and the fuel light stays on. took my vehicle to the dealer and was told that i missed the warranty by 3,000 miles and it will be almost $800 to repair. have read online that hundreds of consumers are experiencing the same problem with the same type of vehicle from 2005-2007 so there is obviously a defect in the manufacture. this needs to be looked into and handled, it is obvious the dealer needs to recall these vehicles and correct the problem. *tr

fuel gauge keeps showing empty when i know there is fuel in the vehicle. the faulty gauge goes from half full to the empty light (warning) coming on after driving less than 10 miles. this has been going on for about 3 weeks and just yesterday i received a letter from gm saying they will cover 50% of the cost to repair. it's faulty equipment and gm should put a "recall" in place and cover the total cost to repair! *tr

Fuel gauge started fluctuating between full and empty, now it just stays on empty. 09-09-2011 with car in park the idle sometimes goes up to 2100 rpms then will go as low as 600 rpms, recently as of 09-16-2011 i have been noticing a fluctuation in speed on its own or without my assistance. *tr

Inaccurate fuel gauge 2007 trailblazer will show empty when it is not and full when it is low on fuel, an everyday occurance. *tr
