2014 silverado 1500 quality issues my 2014 silverado 1500 needs a new $1,840 radiator/oil cooler. the truck has 48,000 miles purchased new 5+ years ago, so it exceeds the 5 year warranty period. at my last 5,000 mile oil change, the oil was found to be 2 quarts low with oil in the coolant. gm has refused (twice) to assist in the cost of repairs because i did not use a gm auto service for my oil changes. i had the oil changed every 5,000 miles with durablend by an independent quick oil change service, a mileage that exceeds the gm 7,500 mileage recommendation. i explained to gm ceo mary bara that i was upset with this decision - a truck with 48,000 miles should not have this problem and that gm is not assuming responsibility for its quality problems. i further advised that i would share my experience with others. less than six months ago the brake booster pump had to be replaced - but luckily it was under warranty. the truck has had multiple recalls. now the gm service department is charging me $147 to diagnose the problem because i'm not engaging them to do the repair. my conclusion is that this truck has chronic quality problems. this appears to be a common problem after checking internet -also a friend had a similar problem with yukon. obviously it will be the last gm vehicle i own.
Out of the blue at 59,000 miles i had a lifer go bad and the dealer wants $3500 to fix my truck.... i have changed the oil when my on board oil change light tells me i take care of my truck and i can't believe this would happen i asked for chevy's assistance on this matter and now they tell me i have an engine block on my truck which voids my engine from them giving me assistance my truck is a 2014 crew cab 4x4 ltz texas edition which sra did for the dealership , the chevy customer assistance person tells me the block was put on 8/15 a year after i bought my truck and i asked what was this about and they couldn't tell me to call my dealer and ask a device manager and when i did that they told me they had no idea what i was talking about so now i'm to do what, thank you chevrolet for a below standard quality truck....
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 19v645000 (service brakes, hydraulic). the contact took the vehicle to boniface hiers chevrolet (800 s harbor city blvd, melbourne, fl 32901, (321) 723-3611) where the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the contact stated that each time when driving, making a turn, and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle stalled and the steering wheel failed to turn. the contact placed the gear into neutral to restart the engine. the vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally. the key had to be used manually to start the vehicle when the failure occurred and an unknown warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 99,000.
Engine is making a ticking/knocking noise took it chevy dealership they said its a fuel injecting pump.. searched videos on youtube a lot of chevy silverado owners have the same complaint we are spending lots of money to buy these vehicles that we expect to last please look into this search videos with key words of 2014-2018 silverado engine noise this issue should be a recall with a doubt if we are spending money on chevy brand trucks that are known to last.
During a turn to a side street the vehicle shut off. all steering and brakes were inoperable. there was an engine malfunction light and a message about there being 2 identical keys for the truck then anti theft flashed. while stopped in the intersection blocking traffic, a message directed to roll down the drivers window then back up. when that was done, electrical came back on and steering was restored. the vehicle was started and is now unsafe for use. the control for being on or off is unreliable and therefore unsafe to use as a transport. 42000 miles on the 2014 high country silverado. no steering. no brakes...that makes it unsafe. would you put your family in this vehicle and ask them to drive safely? how do you justify giving total control to volatile software? how about at 75 mph and it fails? just know it can happen would have ensured i considered another purchase. i believe that information alone will justify someone else's marketing data.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving various speeds in the driveway, the vehicle stalled. additionally, the steering wheel spontaneously moved to the center and the stability control, reduce steering assist, and air bag warning indicators flashed. the contact called paul masse chevrolet (1111 taunton ave route 44, east providence, ri 02914, (401) 680-1261, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: [xxx] and service request number: [xxx]. the manufacturer also provided a $100 voucher towards the repair cost. the failure mileage was 63,000. parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *cc

Turned a corner while braking, the engine died, "service stabilitrac soon" illuminated on the instrument panel; driving down the road pulling a light weight boat trailer, the engine died but came back on immediately and the "service stabilitrac" illuminated; pulled into a parking lot and as i turned about halfway through the turn the engine died and "service stabilitrac soon" illuminated. i took to the truck to the chevrolet dealer and they diagnosed the positive battery terminal was loose and the positive cable had too much resistance - $507.00 later and approximately 10,000 miles later reared it's ugly head again. coming back from a morning drive to the lake and the 'service stabilitrac' light illuminated but the truck didn't die, a little further down the road it did the same thing and died but started right back up on its own while driving, started to back into my driveway and it died in the middle of the road, turned the ignition off and attempted to start it two or three more times, nothing!!! it's like there was no battery installed. every time this happens i lose steering, the brakes seem to fade but i am able to stop on the slow turns like into the parking lot. in all instances the vehicle was moving. one time i noticed an increase in the a/c speed within the cab and the 'service stabilitrac' illuminated but as soon as i turned about half way into a parking area, it died, but continued to pick back up on the engine running. the local dealer had also perfomed some service bulletin regarding the campaign for 'loss of steering assist' at 19,340 miles. the vehicle currently has 42,000 miles..... the date "when did this happen" was today 7/16/2019 but the other times were various before this date.
Truck clicks when you try and start with the key you have to start with the remote start button on the key fob then put the key in
While decelerating and typically beginning a turn the engine will die. it restarts after two or three attempts. i have taken it to the dealership, but they haven't been able to identify the problem. this has happened at intersections and on highway exits. i am concerned for my safely
Loss of freon from condenser unit at 45,000. loss of freon caused ac system to stop working placing passengers in a very uncomfortable environment. this appears to be an ongoing defect for the 2014-2016 chevrolet silverado 1500 model years. gm has addressed with the same model year suv's, special coverage 17336 but not the silverado.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 19v645000 (service brakes, hydraulic). while driving and making turns, the steering wheel seized and failed to move. in addition, the brake pedal was difficult to depress and the vehicle lost power. when the vehicle was restarted, it operated as designed. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to sullivan-parkhill automotive (40 w anthony dr, champaign, il 61822, (217) 903-2817) where it was diagnosed that a software update, sensor, and new steering column were needed. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was towed to best chevrolet (2600 veterans memorial blvd, kenner, la 70062, (504) 315-7790), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. the contact stated that the failure was similar to nhtsa campaign number: 17v414000 (steering). the failure mileage was 74,000.
While parked in a parking lot, the vehicle would not start. the truck mad a clicking sound and all lights lit up on dashboard, but no concise error message. truck then started, but lost power when i put it into reverse with all lights coming on again. turned off ignition and then the truck started. drove the truck 2 miles to my home and when pulling into my driveway, the truck lost total power and nearly caused me to crash in to a parked vehicle. i was able to avoid the collision and i turned the key off in the ignition. i waited a minute and the truck started without issue. the next morning, the truck had the same issue starting - clicking sound but would not start. it finally started and i took it to my local shop to get a diagnosis. they could not find the issue. the next day, the same clicking noise occurred and it wouldn't start after multiple attempts. i called aaa to have my vehicle towed to the shop. when aaa came, the mechanic was able to start the vehicle. i then drove it to the repair shop for another diagnosis. they could not pinpoint the issue and recommended that i take the truck to the nearby chevrolet dealership, which i did. they had it for 2 days and could not find an issue - drove, tested, diagnosed multiple times to no avail. truck also did not show any signs of power loss, etc. today, for the fifth time in the last 8 days, there was an issue. truck started normally, drove approx. 2 miles and parked. when attempting to start, the same problem occurred - clicking sound, lights lighting up on the dash board and this time, a stabiltrak error came on and off. truck then started after 3 attempts so i drove it home. went to restart and the clicking sound with lights on the dash lit up again. the power loss while driving has occurred 3 times in the past, but the vehicle started up with no other issues. had this truck for 4 years with no issues until now.
Takata recall the vehicle i had for about maybe 6 months while driving on a city street we all of the sudden heard a pop we thought it was a tire so we pulled to the side and seen that oil started leaking from the bottom and smoke came out from the hood and now it will not turn on we believe is the engine that broke by husband looked down and saw there was a piece broken of the motor as seen on the description of recall number 14v152000
Ac stopped blowing cold. recharged ac and it ran cold for 2 days. investigated to find a ac condenser weld failed. upon researching i found i am not alone and dealership wants 1200 dollars to repair.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact managed to veer to the shoulder of the road. once the vehicle was turned off and restarted, it resumed normal operation. pruitt ford (912 sheppard rd, burkburnett, tx 76354, (940) 569-5226) was contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired and the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. the manufacturer suggested that the vehicle be towed to the dealer and provided case number: 9-5353849571. the contact was referred to nhtsa to file a complaint. the failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled and the theft deterrent warning message displayed "please roll down driver window". the contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road. when the vehicle was restarted, it was able to drive normally. in addition, the oil pressure gauge fluctuated and returned to normal. hudiburg chevrolet (located at 6000 tinker diagonal, midwest city, ok 73110, (844) 362-3330) was called, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
On 4/2/2019 while traveling at 45 mph, slowed to make left turn. while midway through intersection, engine died, dash lights went out, power steering and brakes gone. within seconds everything powered back up and engine resumed as if nothing happened. warning indicators words flashed briefly. i caught "stabilitrack". i drove for another mile and as i was entering driveway about 5 mph and while driving straight, engine and dash lights went off again and restarted again. prior to all this headlights were flickering and there was a little deadening in the power steering. truck had 72,950 miles. i checked the grounding points and cleared out the deadening material that slightly impeded it. not sure this will help. this is actually the second time this has happened. on 6/22/18 at 64,888 miles, i had a similar problem. at that time took it in to shop. they tightened the grounding bolts (g218) and cleaned the battery terminals. i guess it helped until recently. it cost $180.
Truck under 52,000 miles, had all known recalls (6) performed at cliff anschuetz. all maintenance performed within manufacture specified guide lines here also. truck never displayed error code or service engine light since purchased new. driving home from work 45 miles an hour march 6, 2019, engine message displayed with beep tone: oil pressure low turn off engine. i immediately pulled off, let truck sit for 5 minutes. no oil or fluids where leaking. oil appeared normal and at proper level, did not smell burned. started engine error code was gone, drove 1 miles to auto repair shop. same error message appeared after going 100'. auto repair shop gave me bad news 3 codes: 1) p0324 knock sensor, 2) p0521 engine oil pressure performance, 3) p06dd engine oil pressure control solenoid valve stuck off. went to feldman chevrolet of highland, technician told me this should be covered under warranty, lakeside towing delivered my truck there. feldman will not cover repairs stating out of warranty. will give me $2000 dollars off on certi rebuilt motor, my cost $7,200 w/12 month warranty. not acceptable. salesman there offered me $8000 as trade in. working with gm complaint department, they have been given all information. been nice but seems like i am caught in middle between her and service manager at feldman. as of, 4/30/2019, i am awaiting a call back from gm. this is a known defect in this engine described in so many blogs! google 2014 chevy silverado 1500 engine failure. vacuum pump only warrantied to 36k, 2016-17 trucks only have a 60k powertrain warranty. tells you something, gm dropped powertrain warranty down to 60k for 2016-17. this is not common problem, only a matter of when the vacuum pump fails. pump fails, starts pumping metal debris back into oil/lubrication system taking out the oil pump then the engine. i owe feldman $970 for tear down and for removing oil pan!
My truck tends to mimic the 19v761 recall of 2014-2018 chevrolet silverados with the 5.3l engine and 3.08 rear axle. however, my vehicle is the 4.3l on occasion, my truck will pull to the left or right unintentionally due to the brakes being used out of my control. i'm particularly lose control of the vehicle every 2-3 seconds while this is happening. the defect also happens more often while traveling above 35 mph and downhill. most recently during a snow storm in 4wd. the 'episode' usually lasts until i restart the vehicle. if it resolves before i restart it does so viciously, and steering wheel corrects itself while vehicle is moving. i've been to dealership and have been told there's not a recall for vin number.
My brakes are not stopping properly, i was advised it was a safety issue and could cause a traffic accident. my radiator also had began to leak from the front of my hood. it's been maintenance and i've never been in an accident. there vehicle should not be going out so quickly, at risk of overheating or fire.
My steering wheel is hard to move and the a/c does not work
The vehicle suffered intermittent failures to start (engine would not crank). the initial attempt to repair the issue by the dealer was to replace the battery and negative battery cable. the battery being replaced was less than 3 years old and it was the second battery the dealer had replaced in less than 5 years. the initial repairs failed. ultimately, the problem was a faulty starter motor. a check of the part number of the factory starter motor that had been removed (see attached photo) indicates it is compatible with 2014 chevrolet silverado/gmc sierra 1500 with the 4.3l v6 engine. however, this vehicle has the 5.3l v8 engine. either the incorrect part was installed at the factory or gm determined it is not appropriate for the 5.3l v8 engine and discontinued using it for this model. regardless, gm never made any notification of the issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly shut off. after restarting the engine, the vehicle operated normally. the contact indicated that the failure occurred on five separate occasions. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer and local dealer (mike rickenbach, 10 university pkwy, okatie, sc 29909) were notified of the failure. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was 64,500.

Started smelling antifreeze notice happened to replace antifreeze did not find a leak for a couple weeks then noticed around radiator was wet with antifreeze started leaking worse find out there's a recall on 2014 silverado radiator call dealer said only certain trucks are being taken care of the rest for screwed
While slowing down to make a turn, usually always using turn signal, my truck will completely shut down in the middle of the intersection with no warning. the engine shuts down and all electrical is lost. luckily i haven't been hit by another vehicle while trying to restart my truck in the middle of the intersection. after i get truck started there are numerous error codes in the display: open and close drivers side window, stabilatrak, steering wheel assist, stabilatrak reduce speed b/c of steering assist, 2 keys programmed. also while traveling at high rate of speed (70-80 mph) on highway the stabilatrak error would appear when i put turn signal on to change lanes but truck has not yet shut down under that condition. i have taken my truck to 2 different chevrolet dealers for this dangerous problem but they have not been able to find the problem. the last time the truck shut down on me was 9-19-2018 and the truck did not start right away and my 4-way flashers did not work while i was stranded in the intersection.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that there was an internal failure pertaining to the electrical system. the theft deterent warning indicator kept randomly flashing and various warning indicators and gauges on the instrument panel shorted out. the contact stated that there was also a drastic loss of power, the vehicle failed to start, the key fob worked intermittently, and the vehicle stalled several times. initially, the dealer (lou fusz chevrolet, 5120 i-70 north outer rd, st peters, mo 63376, (636) 875-5400) only cleared the codes and the failures continued. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was not available. *bf.
The radiator leaks. possibly related to special coverage 15829.
The radiator is leaking coolant, and there is a need to fill it up periodically to prevent overheating. this is occurs when the engine is running, but is only noticeable when the vehicle is parked and coolant drips onto the ground.
My silverado frequently "shuts off" when i am making turns. this is extremely dangerous - the latest time i was pulling out into traffic and the engine and all electrical parts turn off. i was nearly hit by another vehicle. there was a recall for this exact issue and my local chevrolet dealer said they have "fixed it". i keep bringing the truck back to them, but they won't attempt to fix it again citing lemon laws because they can't get the truck to replicate the issue. i am beyond frustrated and at this point concerned about the safety of my children and myself as i drive.
2014 1500 ltz almost killed myself several times in the past week. lights begin to flicker and that's the first warning sign to watch for. steering assist shuts down and truck stalls if turn continues at low speed. shut down has happened various times now putting through a drive thru. vehicle also shuts off while driving at 75mph
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 10 mph, the steering wheel was turned and the vehicle lost power. there were no warning indicators illuminated during the failure. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (stonebriar chevrolet, 9950 tx-121, frisco, tx 75035), but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 81,600.
While conducting low speed manuveurs radio and dash flashes off, then engine shuts off while vehicle is still in drive causing loss of steering assist and brake assistance. dash and radio turn back on and warning messages stating stabilitrak disabled, steering assistance reduced, 2 keys programmed, open and close drivers window, and park assist disabled are displayed. dealership thinks this could be due to corrosion in the power distribution box and recommended replacement.
My 2014 chevrolet silverado is at a gm dealership for the 4th time due to complete electrical and engine shutdown while driving. the issue started during low speed sharp turns but now is happening while driving the vehicle straight. complete loss of use occurs and the vehicle will not come back on for 10 minutes after the occurrence. power steering recall has not resolved it, ground wire tightening has not resolved and main battery cable replacement has not resolved. dealership response is they don't know what the issue is caused from. i am very concerned this complete loss of power while driving will cause a severe collision and no recall or resolution has been created by gm.
The service theft deterrent system warning came up on my dashboard and the vehicle wouldn't start. removing the key and opening the door reset it. this happened friday, march 30th. on sunday april 1st, a similar event occurred, except this time, after getting the car started i drove about 1/4 mile and the vehicle lost all brake/steering support and then the engine cut off, leaving me to try bringing the vehicle to a stop myself (which thankfully i did). i took the vehicle to the dealership first thing on monday, april 2nd, and they ran tests and found a service bulletin saying to replace the negative battery cable and the junction box. being a service bulletin only though, it is not covered by the powertrain warranty and would cost $675. being that this is a safety issue since it cuts all power while someone is driving, i feel this to be unfair.
While at a chevy dealer to have a recall (17276 loss of power steering) done on my truck i asked them to check on a grinding/whining noise from the area of the brake booster pump on the engine. they said in fact it was the brake vacuum booster pump, that it should be fixed or i could experience a sudden loss of braking power. they further explained it would have been covered under warranty but that expired a year ago and would now cost me some $440. am wondering if other folks have complained about this. i've read of it happening to others on certain internet blog sites. to my way of thinking the brakes (and i suppose loss of abs/traction control) are at least as important as the steering that was enough of a problem to issue a recall. btw the truck had 27,971 miles on it when the problem started, hardly 'warn out'.
Vehicle has a defective radiator causing a coolant leak, and engine oil to enter the cooling system. general motors as issued a special coverage #15829 applying to this year and model silverado, but only certain vin's apply for warranty coverage for this issue. coverage should include all vin numbers equipped with defective radiators. dealer now want's $1,300.00 to repair what should be covered under a known defect addressed only partially by special coverage.
I was driving around the back of a shopping plaza when my engine started to make a stalling sound followed by my belts squealing. my gauges looked fine and then i looked at my side mirror to see smoke trailing my vehicle. i stop and open my hood to see the entire engine compartment filled with smoke. i couldn't see any damage at that point to pin point the problem. my vehicle was towed to a chevy dealership and the mechanic told me my a.c. compressor seized up due to lack of oil in the compressor and my engine belt was destroyed (which was the cause of the smoke). i did notice every time i turned the fan on in my vehicle the a.c. light would always come on by itself engaging the compressor for the a.c. system. this vehicle is 3 years old with 39450 miles on it and this incident should not have happened. i had to pay the dealership almost $1000 for the repair.
Vehicle shuts down while driving it has done this 4 times to which i lose ability to control steering and i have to brake and try to reach side of street as soon possible i have taken it to dealer every time and they do not give me a cause of why this is happening nor do they fix it. i have been charged each time i have taken this vehicle in to verify why is this happening. i had a lettter sent to me by a law firm law office of ronald j bolz, pllc. address 30928 ford road garden city michigan, 48135 phone number 1-888-453-6667 fax number 1-888-334-8333 web address www.lemonauto.com email address rbolz@lemon auto.com. manufacture denied any claim. i have done my research on this vehicle and there are many issues and complaints on this vehicle and this issue mentioned above. i am afraid to use vehicle to where i lose control and cause and accident. see documentation on dates of occurence
Radiator recall 15829 ref#n15170099 had to have my radiator replaced due to a mfg defect . gm advised me that my vin# not in the recall
Recall # 17276 for low voltage steering. our vehicle has an extremely dangerous safety problem. when the steering wheel is turned quickly, the steering is extremely stiff, the headlights dim, and the engine shuts off. this is life threatening when making a turn across oncoming traffic lanes. we took the truck to a chevrolet dealership for the recall # 17276 for low voltage steering. they reprogrammed the steering system. this did not resolve the problem. we have taken the truck back to the dealership 3 additional times now for this issue. the dealership has opened a case with gm, and gm has recommended many things, all at my cost that have not resolved the safety problem. i feel that gm is using me as a crash test dummy. i sent an e mail request to gm documenting this issue. gm replied that they will only work by telephone they ask to record the call but will not allow the customer to do the same. they have refused to read or reply to my documented request for help. please contact me for any details or questions, i desperately need help on this. thank you, *tr
In less than a year that i have owned it the welds on the radiator cracked open the welds cracked open on the ac condenser the transmission had to be rebuilt from something exploding inside and sharding metal everywhere and i have also had my vacuum pump go out which has shot metal into my engine and almost caused a crash when it first started going out i didn't realize what it was and almost crashed a few times on the way home .
I have a 2014 silverado with 60k miles. on sunday, i was pulling into the garage after a short errand and i lost most of the braking power. i was able to stop the truck by pressing the brake pedal hard. i immediately drove backwards and it did the same thing. i restarted the vehicle the issue went away, mind you during all of this the abs light never came on either. searching online i found a bulletin in some rare situations, a customer may comment on a hard brake pedal or that increased effort is needed to depress the brake pedal. while performing normal diagnostics, fluid may be found in the brake booster and/or the booster vacuum line. if engine oil is found, it is important the following parts are replaced. if not, the condition will return. 1. vacuum pump 2. vacuum line between the booster and the pump 3. brake booster 4. master cylinder after finding this and reading all the accounts i feel like gm needs to make this a special coverage. this is 100% safety concern
Radiator leak which lead to needing replacement. this was not covered under power train warranty. however several memos from gm indicate radiators cracking leading to replacement which is covered under warranty.
At slow speeds (mostly when turning) power steering will go out. i've had 3 instances where the truck completely shut off and just as many where it felt like it was about to shut off. other symptoms have been while driving on highway, generally on a longer trip, warnings about stabiltrack needing service come on, my lane departure sensor will automatically switch from vibrate to audible beep, dimming my headlights or turning my turn signal on will cancel cruise control. i had the recall for software fix for power steering issues applied in september 2017 where previously i experienced none of these issues. all of these issues have been after the recall software fix was applied. the dealer says it's due to a film that builds up on the battery cable connection and causes it to not have a good connection with the battery. apparently there is a bulletin out for this issue but it isn't a recall so dealers are charging around $700 to fix this. having your truck turn off while driving is a clear safety issue and one that is much worse than the recall for having your power steering go out when turning at slow speeds.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving and making a right turn, the vehicle stalled and restarted immediately. also, while driving 10 mph, the vehicle turned off and did not restart for at least thirty minutes. ryan chevrolet (1101 oliver rd, monroe, la 71201) was contacted and stated that the contact could bring in the vehicle to be diagnosed for a fee. the manufacturer was also contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 30,000.*bf . consumer stated vehicle has issue with engine. vehicle has shut down several times while in heavy traffic and took twenty to thirty minutes for the engine to start back up.*jb

My 2014 silverado high country has a 8 cylinder 6.2 engine. after coming to a stop often there is steam coming from under the hood. the temperature gauge runs high and there is the smell of coolant leaking. i was told by the chevy dealer this is caused by under spray? it happens on dry days, rainy days and laving a car wash bay. i've been advised it is a hairline crack in the radiator and gm knows they've had problems.
