2014 model year chevrolet silverado 1500 and gmc sierra 1500 vehicles, equipped with e85 flex fuel capability (fhs), the flexible fuel sensor may become inoperative during normal operation due to an electrical failure caused by road salt and other environmental contaminants. with a faulty flex fuel sensor, the service engine soon light will illuminate and remote start will be inoperative.

The relay in the engine shut the power down to the engine. i am reporting this because it only happens in extremely cold weather. in my case it happened in -32 degree windchill, which stranded me for an hour. in talking with the dealership and doing research online it seems as this is an ongoing problem.the problem happened after i had stopped and started after many tries. the reason i am reporting this is because i would hate to see someone else have a problem in extreme cold weather and it turn into a tragedy for a family. sincerely [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Noticed coolant steam weeping out of the front grill. origin of leak is radiator. there is a special coverage from gm for this issue, 15829. i was told by my dealer as well as gm that my vin is not eligible to receive the special coverage. my truck year/make/model is clearly described in the special coverage bulletin as a viable candidate for this issue.

I have been noticing some serious electrical issues in the last few weeks with my 2014 silverado 1500. it started with the "anti-theft detterent" system acting up and not allowing me to start the car. after flipping the key a few times, it went away. then the problem progressed to when turning the key it was if the battery was dead. everything would go black (lights, info center, dic, etc). after a few minutes of sitting, i could turn the key and it would start up no problems. then it all just went away for about 2 weeks. then just a few days ago, i was turning into a shopping center and the truck just died. the dash, the lights, the engine, everything. i nearly took out the entrance sign of the parking lot. hanging with my back end in traffic i quickly popped it neutral, restarted the truck, and pulled in. i couldn't recreate the problem. i drove to autozone and had them check the battery and alternator. everything was fine. about an hour later, in the drive thru at chick fil a, i placed the car in park, received my food, and as soon as i shifted out of park the truck died again, along with the dash and everything else. restarted and drove home. i spent about 30 mins driving around the block and sitting in the driveway trying to recreate the problem. i have yet to recreate.

I was stopped on a heavily travelled road, waiting to make a left-hand turn. the engine suddenly stalled and i lost my power brakes and steering when this happened. i took the truck to the dealer and was told that the ac compressor locked-up. i believe the compressor locking-up caused the truck to stall. had i been turning when this happened, a collision or worse could have occurred.

Truck seems to have an issue when shifting gears. the truck jerks hard when it shifts ramdonly at lower speeds (5 to 25 mph) and can sometimes startled you because it makes you think that you been rear ended by another vehicle. when coming to s stop the truck has a hard time deciding which gear to be on and after you are at a complete stop just about 3 seconds later you feel a strong hit coming from the back of the truck moving the truck forward about a foot if your not pressing on the break really hard, this also happens but with more intensity after the truck has been moved in reverse and it put in drive it takes a few seconds to engage and you feel a strong jerk forward without giving it gas. last but not least the truck shakes more than normal while in idle almost to the point where it feels like its going to shut off.

2014 chevy silverado experiencing steering to lock at low speeds and jerk the steering wheel in opposite direction and various electrical malfunctions such as door locks disengaging, a/c to shut of, engine stall, gauge cluster to turn off, "stabilitrack" and "steering assist reduced". after recall was performed issue has worsened and become more dangerous. steering was locked at 80mph on busy highway, the previously stated electric malfunctions continued to happen as well. engine shut off or lost power many times over the course of a few minutes. all the issues continued till shut off in busy traffic and was towed to chevrolet dealer. chevrolet dealer found no issues and fixed nothing. gm customer service said that there is no issues to report and vehicle is not covered to be repaired. the loss of steering issues are still present and is an extreme safety concern.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that the air conditioning unit was distributing hot air. the contact called a local dealer (billy navarre chevrolet cadillac located at 1510 e college st lake charles, la 70607, 227-377-0601) to make an appointment. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact called the manufacturer and was offered a $100.00 voucher toward repairs. the manufacturer provided case number: 8-3140285548. the failure mileage was 37,000.

Some 2014 model year chevrolet silverado ld and gmc sierra ld vehicles equipped with 5.3l or 6.2l engines (rpo l83 or l86), may have a condition in which the cycling of the thermostat may result in stress fractures on the radiator, and may lead to coolant leaks. my radiator failed due to this issue and had to pay $1100 out of pocket for the parts and labor.

Steering locks during slow turns, air and radio turn off, sometimes engine stalls as well during turn while steering is locking and unlocking. happens at slow speed. has happened to me making a u turn into traffic.

2014 chevy silverado lt with 27,000 miles. noticed coolant smell near front of truck after driving it. i looked on line and found several sources complaining about the same issue with coolant leak. i took my truck into the dealership to check coolant leak. they found out the radiator was cracked and told me gm has an issue with the thermostat overcycling causing the radiator to develop stress cracks and leak coolant. my truck however was pass the 36 month bumper to bumper warranty and my truck doesn't fall under their special coverage bulletin 15829 to fix this issue for 5 years or 100,000 miles. quoted around $900 to $1,000 to replace thermostat with a new version that will not stress crack the radiator and new radiator (same part as original) is put in the truck. so if gm knows they have a problem but will only fix certain vehicles that have the same faulty thermostat. how is this right?

Faulty air conditioner condenser. the gm replacement part is on back order and will take 12+ weeks to get. this indicates that many silverado owners are having to replace the same part and gm should issue a recall.

I have a 2014 chevy silverado pick up truck. i have been extremely pleased with this truck until yesterday!!!! at 22,000 miles the truck malfunctioned twice within a short distance. the truck some what stalled with out warning and all the dash lights went crazy and truck lost power. less than a half mile later while turning left in a cul de sac the truck went crazy, stalled, dash lit up, the steering wheel violently turned to the right as i was attempting to turn left. immediately took it into service. 4 days past warranty expiration. chevy/jessup auto grp won't fix it. kevin in service said he would call me on wed at 4 with update. thurs at 11am still no word. dropped by service dept. for update with kevin. he said they didn't have price ready for repair. denied coverage under recently expired warranty. when i showed him a list of serious computer malfunctions and safety issues from online chevy truck owners he told me he wasn't interested and he had other people to tend to. he also said i dropped by without an appointment. in other words, i no longer was a priority. when asked for service dept general mgr. ---oh-he is not available. so now my low mileage truck sits with no repair, appears to be a hazard to drive, gm not standing behind nor has a fix for the computer malfunctions that has been reported widespread on carcomplaints.com , leaves me with a very expensive paper weight that i am fearful to drive. it's another ignition key gm cover up and until enough people die and the feds get involved -- it appears i am driving a truck that is a danger to the road and jessup could care less !!

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while turning right at 5 mph, the engine stalled, the brakes failed to slow down the vehicle, the steering wheel became difficult to turn, and the vehicle lost power except for the esc indicator and a warning chime sounded. the failures recurred as the contact turned the vehicle to the left and the steering wheel also spun independently to the right. the vehicle was taken to jessup auto plaza in cathedral city, ca where it was diagnosed that the battery cable failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case for potential repurchase. the vin was included in manufacturer recall number: n172085440. the approximate failure mileage was 22,800.

Loss of power while driving on a freeway trying to turn.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle lost acceleration and stalled. the contact coasted to the side of the road to a complete stop. the check engine and a few other warning indicators illuminated. the cabin began to fill with smoke through the vents. the contact looked under the vehicle and saw a puddle of green liquid emerging from the engine. the vehicle was towed to the dealer (sun shine chevrolet in arden, north carolina) where it was diagnosed that the condenser was leaking freon into the compressor, which caused it to fail. the vehicle was not repaired because the condenser was included in a national backorder indefinitely. the vin was invalid. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

I've had to get a new paint job because clear coat was coming off. egnition switch locked up. check engine light has come on multiple times i take it to the dealership and they say nothing is wrong with it. but tell me i can't let it get below a half tank of gas. back axles lock up. and seat belts lock when going about 50 miles per hour. and the air condenser cought on fire. now when i take it to the dealership they say they can not diagnose the problem. i have spent around $6000 in repairs

My truck has been consuming high amounts of oil since i noticed it at 79 k miles chevrolet said it is a problem with the piston rings and that gmc knows about it. vehicle consumes oil while in motion, highway or city both.

A/c compressor has failed due to manufacturing/installation defect.

The condenser unit has cracked and come away for the structural housing causing the unit to leak freon meaning that the a/c does not work. this is a design fault for the 2014 chevrolet silverado models through gm/chevrolet and currently there is a national back order on the part (nr. 84211191). this shows that there are a large number of people experiencing this problem and as things stand chevrolet cannot even give me an estimate as to when the part will become available again. i feel as though this should be grounds enough for some sort of reimbursement / recall.

Purchased new from dealer, i have already had it in for corrosion at three months, 8+ recalls. now it won't shift correctly when slowing down (stoplight) and then taking off again. it idles rough all the time and even dies at take-offs unless i can finagle the gas pedal just right. i took it in to a great dealership, they acknowledge it idles rough, however, they said gm said that is normal. the corrosion started at month 3, and progressively getting worse. i took it back in for the corrsion and gm told the dealship i am on my own to pay for the (same location) corrsion repair, as the warranty was up (36,500 miles).

The vehicle was serviced at landers chevrolet, benton, ar 72015, on 10/30/14. the dealership changed the oil. on november 6, 2014, the engine stopped while being driven down the street at a rate of 35 mph. the vehicle was towed to the dealership. the dealership refused to replace the vehicle under warranty. the service manager states that the back tires are worn which indicates abuse. gm was contacted several times and every time we have contacted them, the representatives have stated that the tires have nothing to do with the engine and the engine is under warranty and has to be replaced. gm then contacted the dealership, and the dealership contacted me and told me that their gm rep. stated that he did not have to replace the engine due to the tires. we contacted gm again and when the representative called us back, they stated that they are not going to replace the engine under warranty based on the dealership. *tr

I was on my way home from work and traveling between 70-75. the engine began to feel rough. the check engine light was blinking and the traction control light was on. i exited the freeway and called the dealership. they said that it was safe to drive it to them. the engine idled roughly as if it wasn't getting air or gas and would die. as i drove to the dealership it shifted roughly, would only go 55, was shaking violently, and had significant loss of power. the technician said the code was for a miss fire on plug 6. they checked to see if the plug or wires had become loose. they thought it was a valve spring and later decided it was a bent push rod and have disassembled the head to inspect further. they are contacting the engineering dept. at gm to find out what would cause this issue. this is our second truck this year. our first was a 2014 silverado 1500 2x4, purchased in may w/ 4000 miles, rolled down a hill on july 26th and crashed into another car while unoccupied, locked and in park. gm was "unable to find anything wrong", and closed our case. the dealership was very helpful and this is our replacement truck. we took a loss but upgraded to the 4x4 because they had already been covered in the recall of june 27, 2014 "in effected vehicles, an electrical signal short may cause the transfer case to shift to neutral with out the driver's input." we haven't even made our first payment. *tr

I purchased this 2014 silverado pick up new. at about 20000 miles it began not starting, stopping while driving. when this happens the steering wheel is jerked out of my hands/ most of the recorded information is erased, the intrusion alarm icon is lit and must be cancelled. this has not happened at highway speed yet. i have been to several gm dealers. complained to gm directly several times. i have many emails from me to gm and from gm to me. my local dealer has now refused to work on my vehicle. they put a computer on it and if there is no fault code they say "iif there isn't a code we wouldn't know where to start" (a direct quote) the vehicle now has 80000 miles and i have had to deal with this problem for some 60000 miles my wife and i both have cancer and must travel 233 miles one way for chemo and treatment every 28 days and i need a reliable vehicle. this truck was purchased to meet that need but has failed to live up to the hype from gm and the customer support is not satisfactory i need some help now.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that the driveshaft and steering column was repaired twice. the contact stated that the dealer also had to have the motor mounts replaced. the contact stated that the steering failed again and the vehicle could not be turned. the vehicle also had a vibration coming from the front end of the vehicle. the vehicle was given two sets of new tires and both sets failed. the failures occurred ever since the vehicle was purchased. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was 17,000. updated 7/29/15*cn updated 10/06/2017*cn

I was driving on the highway at 55mph when i noticed the engine malfunction light came on and shortly after began to flash and the engine was running rough like a fouled out plug, so i was close to my home but before i got there the truck was running even rougher and the transmission shifted very hard also. i called the dealer and they told me not to drive it have it towed via chevys 2 year road assistance, so i called and after waiting and calling back 5 times i called my own tow service and got it into the dealer. they said a code for engine misfire cylinder # 5 and replaced bad wire with a new one. on my ticket it says bulletin pip5159. the mechanic told me usually these plug wires had been failing on trucks with less miles then mine. so i asked if the other wires could fail and he said yes-so be aware and ready for more to fail. *tr

I purchased the vehicle, brand new in may of 2014. the first malfunction of the vehicle was june 19 2014. the steering wheel, ignition, and cylinder remained locked and i was restrained from starting vehicle i contacted chevrolet roadside assistance in which they were no assistance.i was able to start car after aprox 30min. the second malfunction was in march 2015. my truck turned off while driving on the freeway in the fast lane causing loss of power steering, speed and all functions of the vehicle. onstar and highway patrol were contacted and highway patrol assisted in pushing vehicle to the shoulder. the third incident was july 30. immediately after taking my truck into paradise chevrolet for an oil change. a gas attendee noticed i was leaking oil. the oil cap had not been tightened causing oil leakage. the most recent event was august 11,2015. my vehicle turned off once again while being driven on the highway with my husband and five month old daughter in it, causing loss of power steering, speed and all functions of the truck. the vehicle did restart aprox.20min after.however, when restarted the truck made a noticeably shakey motion. both events in which the vehicle turned off while driving were followed shortly after paradise chevrolet of ventura ca "upgraded software", without my knowledge. both times i went in for an oil change and i was informed after the fact that they had upgraded software/ preformed a "recall".

While traveling with the vehicle cruise control set at 45mph the vehicle dropped from 6 cylinders to 4 cylinders. when the vehicle was in 4 cylinder mode and it had to accelerate the entire passenger compartment started to violently vibrate (sorry but that??s the best description i can give) almost lost control of the vehicle. this is a recurring problem chevrolet so far has changed the tires, realigned the catalytic converter, replaced the exhaust clamps, attempted to replace the entire exhaust system. none of these have yet to resolve the problem. this occurs at all speeds with or without cruise control engaged. *tr

Picked up new silverado with 150 or so miles on wednesday 4/16/14. drove about 20 miles on thursday and friday truck wouldn't start. everything lights up on the dashboard and electronics work but will not turn over to start. totally dead. dealer had me call chevy roadside and they had it towed to dealer. dealer replaced some fuse box parts and brought truck back on following wednesday 4/23. happened again 2 days later and dealer came back and picked this up. the dealer has had the truck for a full week with no commitment to when it will be ready or guarantee it would not happen again. currently dealer working with chevy engineers to troubleshoot problem. this is the first instance this dealer has heard about this happening. *tr

While in motion (40 mph) vehicle will start vibrating and check engine light comes on. at times, the vehicle will stall when i slowed down or came to a stop. it happened 3 times. dealer mechanic discovered it was a loose spark plug cable. it was reconnected 3 times. no permanent fix. current vehicle miles = 28,000.

1.average gas mileage between 10 to 12mpg on freeway which is nowhere near what was shown on the sticker. 2.radio not working/locks up, constant system errors, and display screen going black or green at random. 3.mylink system not working correctly, won't take voice commands & shows error messages on screen. the computer will completely lock up & become unresponsive until restart. 4.navigation system screen turns solid grey & locks up at random. 5.backup camera is coming on & the screen then turns black while at freeway speeds in drive, shows error messages. 6.lane departure system not working/detecting drivers side lines on road when crossed. 7.driver and passenger's front seats feel loose at mounting brackets while driving (rocks back and forth). 8.heated/cooled seats not cooling. 9.transmission not shifting correctly, misses gears on acceleration; constant slips & clunks' from powertrain while at road speed. 10.transmission/torque converter won't disengage from engine properly when braking & pushes the truck under engine power, to a stop at random times. the ecm/tcm is having communication errors or problems causing hazardous conditions to present themselves at random unpredictable intervals to drivers. 11.engine misses/stalls when making sharp turns at random: fails to accelerate when merging into oncoming freeway traffic or turning out of parking lots. again, the ecm/tcm is having some sort of software communication error which is causing hazardous conditions to present themselves at random unpredictable intervals to drivers. freeway merging with oncoming traffic or out of a parking lot into oncoming traffic without the ability to accelerate the vehicle is an extremely hazardous condition not only to the passengers of the unresponsive vehicle but to the passengers/drivers in the oncoming traffic. -truck just bought back by gm at our loss. *tr

I purchased the 2014 silverado 1500 while it was raining. test drive was fine, but the sales person already had the vehicle running with the defroster and wipers on. drove home (2 miles) and parked. turned on the fan knob ( standard with a/c model) and the a/c turned on, this occurred nearly every time i turned it on and asked the dealer service center about it. i was told i am probably hitting it with my knuckles. i since tried only while pinching the knob to avoid this and the a/c still nearly turns on every time. also when the truck sits a while the first start is a hard one but after running and warmed up it will be fine to start. not sure if the truck battery needs a charge after sitting on the lot, i could also smell a rubber burning odor outside and through the vents, thought it was because it was new but then i seen there was a recall 3 days prior. when i tried anchoring my sons child seat i found no seat anchors in the center rear seat and only the ends. i worry about his seat near the door if there is a side crash. lastly, why isn't there rear sensors at a minimum a mandatory on trucks yet. cameras can still be offered as a option but sensors should be mandatory! *tr
