We have classified the 17 complaints from 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 about SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC into the following categories.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that the brake line of the vehicle was completely rusted and fractured. the failure caused brake fluid to leak out. the vehicle was towed to weber chevrolet creve coeur (12015 olive blvd, creve coeur, mo 63141, (314) 567-3300) where it was diagnosed that the entire brake line needed to be replaced. the repair would cost $3,000. the dealer stated that the failure was common among many of the same chevrolet vehicles. the manufacturer stated that the extended warranty expired in 2012 and they could not assist. the failure mileage was 105,082. *tt consumer purchased the truck new and notice undercarriage was rusting. consumer spray painted the hitch. vehicle's brake lines were rusting and consumer had no idea until it ruptured and brake flowed over the driveway. *jb
Like many other gm trucks, the steel brake line rusted and failed. i was backing by boat on to the ramp when the brakes failed. the weight of the boat and the steepness of the ramp pulled by truck in to the bay. thank god my family was out of the vehicle. the nhtsa must mandate that gm fix all severely corroded brake lines at either a reduced or no-charge fee to owners. i am being told that a large portion of the $1,200 labor fee will be for bending of replacement lines. at a minimum, gm should bear the cost of the labor involved in bending of the lines as they refuse to provide performed lines to their dealers. if the government (which is supposed to represent the citizens) really cares about safe vehicles - and we see some of the 'things being recalled nowadays" - why on earth isn't gm being held responsible for recalling gm trucks when there are so many examples of brake line failures!
Anti-lock brake system (abs) activates when not needed during low speed (<10 mph) stopping. this suddenly increases stopping distances in low speed braking situations. this is the exact same problem described in nhtsa campaign number 05v37900 issued for 1999-2002 chevrolet silverados for which a recall was issued on 8/30/2005. *tr
Anti lock brakes come on at a slow stop ..about 2 or 3 mph...and the truck wants to not stop... i found a t b s ...03-05-25-007d and 007c should be a recall as a bad safety item........ *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that he discovered that the front and rear brake lines were severely rusted. the contact planned to take the vehicle to an independent mechanic for diagnosis because of the safety concerns. the failure mileage was 47,000. the vin was unavailable.
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 25 mph he engaged the brakes and they pulsated when the antilock brake system activated. the vehicle stopped in the middle of an intersection. the failure occurred nine to ten times while driving at low speeds. the failure only occurred while making left turns and now it occurs while driving in any direction. the failure had been on going since the middle of february 2011. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. the failure continued to occur and the vehicle was taken to a second dealer who was also unable to duplicate the failure. the failure mileage was 24,300 and the current mileage was 24,370.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that the abs would independently engage when driving at low speeds. the dealer was contacted who advised that they would need to clean the sensor and then replace them accordingly. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not contacted in regards to the failure. the failure mileage was 73,000.
Steering wheel vibrates when applying brake pedal. this occurs when braking from speeds of 60mph or more. i had the agency inspect the brake system and alignment, while still under warranty. they stated the alignment was correct, and did not find any problems with the brake system. i asked they inspect the bearing and shaft of both front wheels, but the service form did not show they inspected it. problem persists to this day. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that if the vehicle wsa driven under 10 mph, the abs function activated and the wheel speed sensor failed by not detecting the wheels turning. as a result, the vehicle made a noise and jerked forward without warning. the contact had to apply force to the brake pedal to stop the vehicle each time the failure occurred. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who cleaned the wheel speed sensor. years later, the failure recurred. at a low rate of speed, the brake pedal was slow to respond and required great force to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was inspected by an authorized dealer again and, an hour later, indicated that they were not able to get the wheel speed sensors removed to clean them. the wheel sensors were placed back on the vehicle. if they were damaged, the contact would need to replace the wheel speed sensors, if they were damaged. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 24,000.

While driving my 2007 silverado 1500 classic, i have had the brakes completely lock up. the first time this occurred it caused and accident, luckily no-one was injured. this happens on a regular basis, every time the brakes are applied hard. this truck has been back to the dealership at least 5 times for this problem and the same result is given each time "our computer does not show any codes, so nothing is wrong." it mainly occurs at speeds around 40-60 m.p.h., but has started occurring on very humid or rainy days. i explained to the service manager that this should be some sort of safety concern and his response was, "well until a code comes up on our computer, nothing is wrong." *tr
Brake rotors on 2007 chevrolet silverado had to be resurface due to warping or metal defects, dealer said was not covered by warranty even though vehicle had only 34,200 miles on it, paid for repairs, but felt this should have been a safety issue repair, due to possible loss of control in a hard braking situation. *tr
I bought a 2007 chevy. truck /1500 4 door crew in feb. 2007 and now have 48,106 miles (mostly highway miles) and had a brake failure in front brakes. i had the front rotors, pads and right caliper replaced on 04/25/08 at supreme chevy. they told the caliper locked up and caused the damage to the brakes. chevy. told me there is no recall for this and they have not had any problems with this. i have driven gm cars and trucks all my life and never had a problem like this before. some one is going to get hurt or worse if this problem is not addressed and fixed. i do not feel safe driving this truck anymore until chevy. tells me this chevy. trucks don't have a safety problems with the front brakes. i hope you can look into this and help with the problem. i don't want anything but just to be told this truck is safe to drive. thanks bruce rogers *tr
2 months after buying my vehicle the brake on my vehicle had a bad squeal. which happens when it is very humid outside. i went to the dealer they said it was weather and my brakes getting run in. 1 month later the same from the dealer no problem with the brakes, service tech's say it looks fine. 1 month ago a mechanic at my work saw pitts in my brake rotors. he says he has never seen a new vehicles with that much damage on a brake rotors on further inspection. all four rotors are pitted. this is a 2007 chevy silverado lt crew cab 4x2. #2 there is a jerking movement when u are coming to a stop at a stop sign are red light. the transmission seems to want to let the car keep going, told by dealer this was normal with my vehicle. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. while backing out of a parking space at 15 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and had to use both feet to stop the vehicle completely. he drove to goodyear and a technician test drove the vehicle, but could not duplicate the failure. the dealer followed suit, but could also not duplicate the failure. the failure and current mileages were 17,100. updated 4/8/08 *cn the consumer stated pedal depressed 4 times within a 10 min period and would not move. updated 04/08/08 *tr
The front right inner brake pad has been prematurely wearing compared to the other pads. local chevrolet dealer has been asked to adjust pads under warranty. tech said that the vehicle can not be adjusted and that they are wearing within "normal" time. brake pads are not lasting more than 7 months at a time due to inner pad wearing down to the metal backing while the other pads still have 3/4 of their life left. the front pads have been replaced approximately four times in three years. the front rotors had to be replaced twice in the same amount of time due to the same issue.
The truck has a continuous problem when trying to stop, it is very difficult to stop when needed, i have notified my chevy service dealer many times 8 to be exact, it has had many repairs pads, rotors, calipers to the brakes every time i bring it in. it started at 10,000 miles, and continues every 5000-8000 miles. pads, rotors replaced at 10,386 -17,892- 22,171- 22,171 - 28,722 and last week at 34,362 miles chevy keeps replacing the brakes, rotors or calipers but the truck is still very hard to stop when driving, it is a safety hazard and a danger to myself and anyone else on the road at the same time. i want to report this problem as i see many other have on the 2007 chevy silverado. *tr
Driving on dry roads at night. going through s curve at about 40 mph. speed limit was 45mph. applied brakes to slow for traffic and brake pedal went to floor and did not stop the truck. this is the second occurrence in about two weeks. truck is at dealership for inspection and repairs. *tr
2007 chevy silverado, purchased in late 2006. took vehicle to dealer where purchased could find nothing wrong. brakes squeaking very loudly, truck is bouncing erratically and sense a steering issue. 1st dealer also told me the tires just needed to be rotated. the truck is now at another dealer and i have yet to hear the verdict. the truck makes whining noises like in old trucks when the power steering would go bad. this truck currently has 21,000 miles. *tr
Side airbags deployed in a non accident situation while driving...two weeks prior to that brake failure. *tr
Under normal driving conditions at highway speeds 60-80 (more noticeable but can still feel at lower speeds when stopping) mph when the brakes are applied to slow for a toll plaza or off ramp the truck and steering wheel shake excessively. have driven with 2 mechanics and a service manager at maroone chevrolet and they have noticed this problem but state "it is normal or not that bad". this is not acceptable as i tow a boat a couple times per month that is 3500 lbs. the truck is rated to pull 7800 lbs. i am worried this could cause brake failure/premature brake component wear. the vehicle was in the shop 5 times for this problem and it still continues. now the brakes squeal when they are applied and tires are wearing on the inside (a friend with the same truck is also wearing on the inside). the dealer replaced front rotors after turning them once, replaced the front and rear pads, replaced rear drums, and rebalanced the tires. condition still remains. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving between 10-60 mph, the brakes failed. on october 5, 2007, while driving 60 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal, but the brakes would not engage. as a result, the contact swerved into a ditch in order to stop the vehicle. three weeks before the incident, the dealer replaced the abs. the powertrain was unknown. the current mileage was 17,000 and failure mileage was 2,000.
Reduce engine power along with service brake light comes on. vehicle shuts down, leaving vehicle with no steering. ecu was reset. next day, problem continued several times. vehicle finally shut down in the middle of the road. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. when the contact has his foot on the brake pedal, the pedal will slowly extend down to the floorboard. he replaced the master cylinder because the mechanic stated that it was leaking. the current mileage is 16,316 and failure mileage was 13,351.
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 55 mph, the digital screen module displayed a malfunction message and the steering and brakes locked for approximately 5 seconds. the contact lost control of the vehicle. the engine was still running and the contact pulled to the side of the road. he called the dealer and was advised not to turn off the vehicle, but instead drive directly to the dealer. the weather was not a factor. after numerous visits to the dealer, they stated that the hybrid battery and engine failed. the hybrid control module was replaced and the dealer repaired the hybrid open fuse module. the current mileage was 23,500 and failure mileage was 345.
Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet 1500. the vehicle has american amtrak tires (na). the brakes on the vehicle were changed, but have been failing ever since the vehicle was purchased. the first failure occurred at 9,000 miles, the second at 16,000 miles, and the third at 30,000 miles. the brakes currently need to be replaced for the fourth time. the rotors were turned, but continue to make a squealing noise. when the contact drives through water, the dealer stated that water eats away at the rotors and they become crystallized and crack. he does not drive through water that much. the tires that came with the vehicle were rated at 25,000, but have been changed four different times. this last time he purchased michelin tires there were no failures. he called the manufacturer and they stated that they would call him back. three days have passed and the contact has not received a call. the dot number and tire size were unknown. the failure mileage was 9,000. updated 05/05/09. lj
