Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2013 Chevrolet Malibu

I purchased a 2013 chevy malibu 53,000 miles in october of 2018 from bob pulte chevrolet. the car ran great until almost a year to the date of purchase, at 72,534 miles, issues began. while stopped at a red light, foot on brake, i looked down at the dashboard and noticed the rpm needle had dropped to 0 & the car had stalled.i put the car in park, turned the key off and then back on to start the car. it sounded as if it didn't want to start but ultimately did. i continued driving and it happened again at the next red light. i took the car to the nearest repair shop which was firestone, to have it checked & was told the alternator and battery needed replaced. the following week the car stalled as it had 1st time & then sporadically again and again when i slowed down approaching a red light, stop sign & when pulling into a parking space. each time the car stalled it was difficult to start again. i took the car to a different firestone for a fresh set of eyes. this time the car stalled when their technician drove the car. a fuel system cleaning was recommended & done. the next suggestion was to replace the throttle body. a few days later, the car stalled again. when the car does stall i would lose power to everything except the radio. the lights shut off, doors stay locked & the car cannot be steered.i next took the car to the bob pulte chevrolet dealership & discussed the problem with them. after having the car for two days, they advised the car did not stall when they drove it, there were no codes, no check engine light on & without that there was nothing they could do. the next day when i pulled into a parking space at work, the car stalled again. i called bob pulte again-they said they would update the ecm module and reprogram the throttle body and everything that goes along with it - believing firestone was unable to do it. the car continues to stall.

Both the transmission and engine went out at the same time. i took it to apple valley motors in martinsburg wv, a chevy dealership. they contacted the third party warranty company (portfolio) and they made the dealership replace the transmission with a junkyard transmission. but when i took it in the check engine light was on and i assumed that it was on because of the transmission. but also assumed that because it was a dealership with special trained technicians that they would check all the codes and clear them before they returned the vehicle to me. well they didn't and the check engine light was still on when i picked it up but thought maybe i had to drive it a couple miles to reset the light. well the light did go out but came back on about a week later and when i took it back to the dealer they called the warranty company and they said that because now that the extended warranty that i had, expired 8 days prior that there is nothing they can do. i called both gm and chevy and explained the situation and neither one will assist me with the problem only because the power train warranty expired even though i have less than a 100k on it. they gave me a case number but in the end they said there is nothing they can do. no way should both the engine and transmission go bad at the same time especially with less than 100k on it. this is in addition to another complaint that i just filed with you regarding the car loosing all power while i am driving. that problem happened on both the highway at over 70 mph and in the city at slower speeds. in addition to the transmission and engine going ou, 30 days prior the hydrolic transmission lines blew out while i was on the highway and i had to have it towed and it cost me about 900.00 out of pocket because it was was not covered by the warranty.

The charging system went completely dead while driving. i had no power steering everything went black no speed, no lights, i couldn't even turn on my hazards while i was sitting in the middle lane of the interstate hoping i wouldn't get killed because of this. why is there no warning to let you know your battery and charging system is dead. why is this not a recall from chevy? please advise.

While driving on the highway my car will just shut down completely then turn back on. sometime the radio will go out with power steering, etc. it just shuts down for no reason. we've replacement the battery cable several months ago as we had the exact same problem and it worked for about 6 months. if i use my turn signal sometimes it will shut down and turn back on. did it about 20 times today on the way to work. with my two small children in the car with me. i am usually driving around 65 to 75 mph when this happens.

While driving straight ahead on a city street, at approximately 30-35mph, the axle shaft on the front, right side of the car broke. the broken axle shaft caused an accident where my car went to the right and i hit the back-left side of a van; that impact sent the right side of the car up in the air where i was only traveling on the two left wheels. although i thought my car was going to flip and land on it's roof, the car did come back down on the right wheels, but landed/hit the front of the van and the back of a pick-up truck. *tr

Car randomly losses power at any speed. during this time, i am unable to control the car. the power steering is off. this happened to my wife as she made a left turn on a green light on bell road, az (a busy road). there is no way that this should be taken lightly.

While driving down the road on 7/10/16 my 2013 chevy malibu lost power, engine light and traction control light came on and went from 55-60 mph to 20 mph. when trying to accelerate more the car could shake violently. after stopping and turning the car off it would not restart. the car was towed to kerry chevrolet in alexandria, ky. after diagnostic testing they determined that the fuel pump needed replaced. on 8/10/16 while driving down the highway while in vacation in florida the car again started to lose power, the engine began to slip or miss and jerk. again engine light came on. car died three times while on the road trying to get it to a safe place for a tow truck to tow it. it was taken to a dealership and the cam shaft sensor was replaced. car continues to hesitate and miss.

My chevrolet malibu shut off on me in the mid of the way and i almost go into a accident with my children. took it to the dealership and they can't find out why my car is doing this.

Wheel bearing from gm dont last. my car has 75000 miles and have already replaced all 4 and those were done may 9 using gm parts and have another one that is failing.

Driving 55mph on cruise control, i heard a warning chime. looked at dash and the words engine power is reduced were on the screen. i looked for a symbol on the dash to tell me more and saw the engine symbol was on. the car didn't perform out of character from already going 55 on cruise. nothing changed in the engine performance. i continued toward home as that was my destination and was less than 15 miles from home. i parked the car in my garage, turned off the engine, waited a few seconds, then started the engine again. the warning came on right away. i called the dealer who i'm leasing the car from but it was a saturday afternoon and they were closed. i did leave them a message to call me on monday and why. i have not and will not drive the car until i hear from the dealer and have a date and time to bring it in because of the concern the engine could power down as i'm driving according to internet forums i since read that others with the same warning said their car did slow down on a fast busy highway. this warning is in the manual that came with the car and says it is the throttle body sensor gone bad. *tr

My rpm keeps going up and down at stops and i took it to a dealer and they found out my piston is cracked at compression rings.there is also a service bulletin issued by gm pi-1178 affecting 2.0 turbo engines ,i talked to 2 gm representatives both denied of having a service bulletin issued on this car .and theydont want to change my engine but replace the pistons and the rings ,my car will be at the shop another week!.i always had gm cars 1 and this will be my last gm car because its a cheap company! *tr

My vehicle which was purchased brand new 02/2014 was left running and placed into park on level asphalt street. when i walked about six or seven feet from the vehicle my vehicle began rolling forward. i chased the vehicle and attempted to get inside to stop the vehicle. i was able to open the door but was dragged several feet. i could see clearly the vehicle was in park. the vehicle went in to a small ravine and from the outside of the vehicle i was able to push the engine stop/start button and the vehicle stopped. i easily backed the vehicle out after starting it. i shut the vehicle off and some nice people i did not know tended to my injuries. i called general motors later that night and was given a service request number of 71-1320790919. my vehicle was towed to sunrise chevy on 06/22. on 07/21 i was notified nothing could be found wrong with my vehicle. i was given no paperwork from general motors or the dealer. there was 1100.00 dollars of damage to my vehicle . general motors refused to pay for said damage. i was told to use my parking brake. really that is ridiculous when u are on level ground. my left foot and leg still show the signs of being dragged. i was also asked how many times this happened. isn't once enough. i surely did not try to duplicate it. i did not nor will i ever leave my car running again and walk away. i had the key with me on that day but guess what i discovered the vehicle can be driven away even while the key fab is with you. i hope this does not happen to anyone else which is the reason i reported the incident to general motors and now documenting the incident here. *tr

I started the car and viewed the message "service power steering" in the message center between the odometer and tachometer. there did not seem to be any issue with the steering, but wanted to get it checked out by my local dealer since it was less than a half mile up the road. as i put the car into the gear, the car would not move. the indicator lights that normally show me what gear i am in (prnd) were blank. then all of the sudden, the car surged forward violently, as if the malibu was just rear-ended. i then turned the car off and restarted it. the ?service power steering? message appeared again. however, the ?check engine? light had lit up, and the ?service parking brake? message appeared as well. the car then surge violently again forward without shifting into any gears. i then shut the car off and called spencer chevrolet to tell them i was going to have the car towed to their shop. after a few minutes, i tried once more to start the car and was able to shift into gear and drive it to the shop in limp mode with half the warning lights lit up on the dash. after further diagnostics, the maintenance manager at spencer chevrolet informed me that the transmission computer module (tcm) had failed and needed replacement under warranty. this was the third electrical issue i had with this vehicle (the trunk was opening on its own while driving, parked, or during the night, and the radio was locking up with no control). i was worried that the transmission issue could have happened while driving, and didn't want to take any risks. *tr

In summer 2015 while using ac, heat randomly would blast out. (while idle or driving). would have to restart car to get ac to work again. in the past 2 weeks dec15/jan16, engine overheated-idle indicator came on while driving on the highway, once at 65 mph, once at 30 mph. then a few minutes later it would turn off. i looked at temp gauge, and it was not at an overheating level (half way only). also, now heat only intermittently works. i will have to turn car on and off repeatedly, and turn ac on/off, heat on/off, defrost on/off, and sometimes the heat will finally get warm. never seems to get hot like it's supposed to. took to repair shop for the engine overheated/idle warning and stated nothing was wrong. safety issue not having heat for front windshield defrost when it's under 30 degrees out. mechanic said it's probably a computer issue with the car. but now i'm seeing this is a recurring problem with many car owners. gm needs to recall, as this can be a safety concern!

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the vehicle decelerated as the check engine sensor illuminated. the contact had to turn the vehicle off and back on several times. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was not able to neither replicate nor diagnose the failure. the vin was not available. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 13,000.

Steering became sticky stiff in 12 o'clock postition, making steering corrections difficult with overcorrecting. there is definitely a problem that could be a sever safety hazard. i was traveling on i-75 at 65-70 mph when malfunction occurred. i contacted a dealer in tampa and they did not seem too concerned, hard to communicate due to it being a holiday weekend. the tampa dealer advised if there was a problem, i would have received a recall letter. i am concerned, being on vacation, for the long trip back to knoxville. also, i have experienced transmission shutter at low speed, intermediate problem. *tr

Vehicle sold and delivered with an open active safety recall (13142) on it at time of purchase, which was a violation of federal law title, 49 subtitle vi, chapter 301, section 30112a3 restricting the sale (and/or introducing into commerce) of a vehicle with a safety defect. this information is consistent with the information in gm recall bulletin #13142. dealer sold have not sold or delivered the vehicle until the recall was addressed. dealer/chevrolet risked the safety of the vehicle owner and general public by placing it into commerce with the open recall. *tr

Was entering parkway and car failed to accelerate but the engine was revving .car stood still as if in neutral

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds the transmission would shift abruptly. the contact stated that after depressing the brakes there was slight delay before it engaged. the vehicle was taken to dealer however the vehicle was not inspected. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. the failure mileage was 1,460 and the current mileage was 2,041.
