Problems with 2007 Chevrolet Equinox AIR BAGS

We are having the same problems as so many equinox owners are with passenger side air bag seat sensor. this problem is a major safety issue. why wait for more people to be injured or worse and demand gm address this issue once and for all.

Passenger air bag sensor not working correctly. service airbag light comes on and when someone is sitting in passenger seat the airbag display on dash will go on and off. the sensor doesn't detect all the time that a passenger is sitting in the seat.

Passenger seat airbag sensor does not detect when an occupant is in the seat, so the airbag is always off. this has been going on for several months.

Purchased a used 2007 chevrolet equinox 6 hours after purchase, service airbags light, service t tire monitor system and check engine light came on in the instrument cluster and gags guage stopped working..

This vehicle was supposedly repaired in a previous recall, however the issue with the passenger seat airbag sensor persists. recently it is increasingly difficult to get the sensor to work for the front seat passenger, and it goes on and off as the vehicle is driven. either the repair was not adequate to completely resolve the problem or not actually completed.

This vehicle is one of several that have been reported to have problems with wheel speed and psi sensors, which then causes the traction control to believe computer wise it has no traction, therefore the light is always on and the computer sometimes shut the traction control off when it needs to be on. it also has airbag trouble with the passenger seat, also like the recall. however, despite the fact 2007's were issued this recall, it's saying my 'vin' does apply to these recalls. find that hard to believe when these things are messed up. just want gm motors to awknowledge it's possible that this vehicle was mismanufactured.

My daughters 2007 equinox , has the well known, passenger side airbag sensor failure problem. in.case of an accident the passenger side airbag will not deploy. this is an $800 +/- fix. several thousand equinox, torrent, saturn and other gm cars built on this platform are affected. several model years suffer from this ailment. "failure of the air bag to deploy can result in increased injuries or death." the saturn sky and pontiac solstice had this same problem and it was corrected recently under recall. it is my opinion that these vehicles should be recalled and this problem corrected.

I don't know if it's a takata inflator, but there was a recall for the 2007 chevy equinox, but, for some reason the recall did not have my wife's car's vin # regarding this recall. so, her car did not receive a recall notice! what i'm upset about is, that she has low mileage on her car, and had the same problem, just recently, and it's the same model and year, regarding the recall, that did not involve her car! i was told by gm, that because her vin # was not "in" the recall, that there was nothing that they could do, but if i wanted to, because it's a safety problem, that i could contact you! and "then" if you told them that it was a safety problem, which it is, that you could then, get in touch with gm, and they would take care of it! so, what can be done, this shouldn't be like this!!! please help us take care of this safety problem on my wife's 2007 chevy equinox if you would please! regarding the note below, my wife was simply driving, and the air bag light came on, and that was it. when i got in touch with gm, they did tell me that there "was" a recall on this, but because my wife's equinox did not fall into their recall vin #, that there was nothing that they could do! if it was a different model, year, etc. then i could understand of course, but not when it's the same car, and model, that they recalled!!! thank you for your assistance, in any way! *tr

Passenger airbag sensor does not register with airbag control module. brought it to chevy for repair. 600 bucks later and a new sensor, airbag still isn't responding. chevy tells me i need a new airbag control module for 700 bucks, had already spent 1300 on that visit. airbag does not register passenger, computer will not reset and sync with control module. this shouldn't require the entire module to be replaced, nor should i have to pay for this since this i've heard/read numerous cases all dealing with this issue on the same model and apparently gm refuses to recall (aside from the airbag reprogram when it first released) has been an ongoing problem since i purchased the vehicle from a dealer, who said they fixed it before i picked it up. does work intermittently, when a larger person sits there, air bag does register.

The front seat passenger air bag will not come on when someone sits in the seat. i get a service air bag system on the driver info center. took to dealer was told computer shows codes b0081 and b0074. was told passenger presence system, namely the seat sensor was bad and needed to be replaced. repair estimated at $1100.00. this is a common complaint in gm vehicles. the vehicle is designed to have the airbag deploy during a collision considering the use of safety belts and deformation of the vehicle's structure. service air bag system warning light comes on and stays on when ever the ignition is turned to the on position. it does not matter if anyone or anything is in/on the seat, or if vehicle is standing still or in motion.

At 100,000 miles, the passenger airbag sensor failed and caused the vehicle to indicate that the airbag was not active, even when a passenger was in the front, passenger seat. i took it to the authorized dealer and referenced # 07v344000 recall but was told that my vin did not fall within the recall, despite the similarity of the issues involved.

Passenger airbag light shows not on all the time-with or without passenger in seat. message to service airbags on all the time. now seatbelt light is flashing even when in use. service stabiltrack light comes on and off. reading all the other comments i see this is a common complaint. recently had my car in to replace fuel pump that was a recall for others but a "special repair" for my car. told dealer about problems with airbag and stabilitrak and was told it would cost about $150.00 each to do the diagnostic tests. what is it going to take for these problems to become recalls for all the affected cars?

I don't understand the my car has no recall, it is a 2007 chevy equinox, and it looks to me that there are 4 recalls for 2007 chevy equinox. my car has a service airbag message that comes up, and it has failed safety due to this message. i am reading the recall, and it states that it needs to reprogram the seat's electronic control unit. i brought to a shop, and that is exactly what the mechanic said. that i would need to take it to the dealer to have the airbag computer reprogrammed. i need this done with no expense to me.

I have had a 2005 and a 2007 chevrolet equinox both were in accidents and the airbags did not deploy . the 2005 was a rear end crash the car that hit me was traveling approximately 60 mph. the second accident was a frontal crash i swerved to miss hitting a dog and children going on the road. the steering wheel locked up and hit a tree. i have had 3 equinox all have ignition switch problems. the one i have now has major transmission problems.it has been in the shop now for 8 weeks.

Ii see a recall for this unit on the web but the dealer said not coverege the recall...please help me my family is on risk....the air bag light is of when the passenger seat and in the istrument panel said service airbags

On 9/22/08 we took our vehicle to gregg young chevy in omaha ne with complaint of the passenger air bag did not register passenger. the could not duplicate and nothing was done. again on 4/10/10 we took the vehicle in again with same complaint. we were told again could not duplicate at this time, no problem found scanned, no codes. no bulletins found, system working as designed. then again 9/28/11 we took it in again and complained the service air bag light is on intermittently. they replaced the pps module. we had to pay labor and factory warranty deductible. i see by you recall page there was a recall #07v344000 on the passenger sensor and or calibration. if there was a recall why were we charged to replace a default by the maker? now here we are in dec 2016 and now we are having the same problem again. the air bag does not always register a passenger and if it does, it goes back and for stating air bag on and air bag off and the dash warning light to service air bag goes on and off and then we get a read out on the dash stating to service air bag. same problem yet again. how may times can the sensor or calibration go wrong. we called gregg young and they want $130 just to look at the problem. what are our options? i don't feel this is a wear and tear problem and we paid for it once already and feel we should not have based on the recall listed. any information you could provide would be helpful. thank you for considering our safety a priority. *tr

The vehicle has stable track link error and will not go away, also the fuel guage doesn't work properly. the airbag is not working to protect my passengers in the front seat.

The passenger seat air bag sensor failed and to repair the problem the entire seat cushion and electronic module has to be replaced. this is an over $800 repair and my daughter cant afford to have it fixed. according to the dealer tech this is a common problem on several thousand equinox, torrent and saturn ion vehicles. imho this is a safety defect and should be repaired at no charge.

When i have a passenger in the seat the airbag never comes on and the airbag light stays on and tells me it needs service. also all my gauges are all out of wack not sure if it is a recall or not once i hit 100,000 miles all these things came about. also there was a recall on the fuel system and at the time i did not have a problem as of yet, on 9/29/15 i then smelled the gas and called mk smith chevrolet to see if there were any recalls on this and they told me no, so i did take it somewhere else to be fixed due to it being cheaper for me and got it fixed and paid $633.60. i have document for that. now my key in the ignition does not come out and i hear a clicking noise by the ignition i'm not sure if that as well is a recall on the equinox 2007. please let me know if any of these problems are recalls on my vehicle. i just have read all these other complaints on the same issues on the equinox 2007.

Takata recall" for a 2007 chevy equinox igniition switch my key gets stuck in the ignition i have broken my key trying to get my key out the ignition had it replace by a locksmith who jacked my key up the key has no smooth touch it's very had when it go into the ignition it's very hard to turn, this is a emergency someone please recall this part of thees,cars it's very dangerous i have kids i see where other cars are being recalled , can gmc, chevy recall all the chevy from 2005-2010 for ignition switch help!!!! this problem had been on for 8months i thought it was going to stop never had these kinda of problem with any car in the past.

The passengers side airbag will not stay on when no matter who on it, doesn't not pop any codes or anything. have taken it two different dealerships still nothings says it's working fine. which it isn't, not safe at all

A few months ago, i took my car into the dealer to diagnose a check airbag light. $122 later, my vehicle was found to have a "faulty passenger presence module." i was quoted over $1000 in repairs and given no other options. i declined the repairs in lieu of confirming with an independent mechanic as i have had issues with that service department before regarding a faulty fuel system (which was recalled and i was not informed). my independent mechanic confirmed the passenger sensing unit was not working properly and after further investigation, i found that this part (much like the debacle with my fuel pump) was also a recalled. i am referring to nhtsa campaign#07v344000. my vin# is included within the designated vin breaking points; however, it does not qualify individually. i find this infuriating. if the part is known to be faulty, and it's the same part placed into pontiac/chevy vehicles then why are only some of these faulty parts included in the recall???? this was the same situation with my faulty fuel pump, in which i paid cash for the part and repairs and then 6 months later received a letter from gm stating my vin# was now included. i phoned the dealer and gm directly and they offered me no options other than pay $611 for the part and estimated another $500 in labor. i have found on numerous gm forums that this issue with the ppm is very common with 2007-2009 pontiac and chevy vehicles with those owners getting the same excuse from gm and no recall coverage. i am hoping that in the future someone from the nhtsa will look into this campaign and expand the vehicles involved as it seems to be a dealer/part issue and affects the overall safety of the vehicle.

Over the past few days, my stabilitrak light has come on and off while driving or just sitting in the car. pulling into my driveway today i noticed that the light came back on for the stabilitrak. i proceeded to drive and then suddenly it became increasing hard to maneuver my steering wheel almost to the point where it felt as if it had locked up on me. i was able to drive the car back home but as i was driving i notice my air bag light came on and will not go off at all. after making it back to into my driveway i cut off the ignition waited a few minutes and turned the car back on to see if this would help either of the problems but to no avail. i have now taken the car to my local chevrolet dealer and they have informed me that they have sen this issue with a number of equinox and it is indeed an issue my stabilitrak.

Air bags sometimes does not register when individuals sitting in passenger or drivers seat. air bag service light goes on and off randomly as well.

warning light to service air bag has come on and never turns off. i have taken car in to have this checked and technicians cannot find the problem or fix it. not sure if air bags will function on impact.

Driving down the street and i hear warning signal look down at dash it says stabilizertrack

My passenger side airbag is not working had replaced once under warrenty nver been in an accident light on again checked many owners experience same issue cost between 300 and 600 dollars for repair cannot let anyone ride in front seat cannot afford repair.

Takata recall. on march 29th 2015 i was involved in a auto accident. as a result of that accident, i suffered a broken wrist, broken jaw, and the loss of my left eye. all of these injuries were the result of my vehicles airbag system. in the accident, none of my windows were broken, there were no loose items in the vehicle. the only thing in the vehicle that hit me was the airbag and its is the only thing which had blood on it in the vehicle. i was wearing my seatbelt at the time of the accident. i was driving down the highway (atlantic city expressway) when a turnpike commission vehicle made a u-turn and turned up in front of me leading to the accident. my vehicle was traveling on a flat highway at night, on a straight section of road at that time. i was then trapped inside my vehicle for an hour until rescue workers had to cut me out so that i could be flown to the nearest trauma unit. my year vehicle is also the same year that all other chevy vehicles (avalanche, silverado ld/hd, tahoe, and suburbon) on the recall started which is 2007. my chevy equinox which is also in their suv / truck lineup is no different from those and used the same airbag, takata.
