2007 chevrolet equinox airbag sensor, the right air bag light only comes on half of the time. i have taken this vehicle in four times so far and it still doesn't work, gm rep says they will not replace any parts unless it shows error codes. what happens when someone face hits the dash or the windshield? i guess general motors doesn't care!!!!!!!! *tr

I have been watching the recall listing for campaign number 07v344000 because this is exactly what is wrong with my vehicle but my vin always comes up with no open recalls. the seat sensor for the passenger airbag has been determined to be bad but it doesn't apply to my vehicle. if the part is bad and is being recalled for other cars why is my car excluded? the chevrolet dealer quoted me a cost in excess of $900 for a part i know has an active recall on it. *tr

I was in an accident were i struck two horses that run out into the highway in front of me in my 2007 chevrolet equinox lsi. the first horse struck my passengerside front quarter panel and this caused me to swerve into another horse on the driver side. i was traveling at approximately 50 mph and the damage to the front of my car was very serious and my complaint is that the airbags never deployed during the crash. i know that the airbags are set of by specific speeds and damage but my whole front of my 2007 chevrolet equinox ls was nearly removed. i was wearing my safety belt and it offered little help since i was hit twice from opposite sides. i was told by responding emergency crew that the airbag must have been faulty since it did not deploy. *tr

Passenger side seat airbag sometimes does not come on. can't seem to find the problem. kind of a nerve racking situation. steering column does not lock when the vehicle is shut off and the key removed. not a good feeling with all that is going on with gm ignition switch problems.

There were no events that led up to failure...the air bag light will stay off even though the passenger seat is occupied and on the dash it will read, " service air bag." i called gm hotline and was told that even though there was a tsb for that problem my vehicle did not fall within the selected vin numbers and would not be covered. *tr

Even though my vin does not come up as having an issue with the passenger air bag detector in my seat, it does not detect when someone is sitting in the seat and will not come on.

I have a 2007 chevrolet equinox. intermittently, the passenger air bag "on/off indicator shows "air bag off" with a passenger in the seat. this occur with passengers weighing from 100lbs. to 200lbs. the only way i can get the "air bag on" indicator to work in by turning the engine off and then restarting the engine. i often must repeat this procedure six or eight time before the "air bag on" indicator is illuminated. the local dealer has replaced the passenger air bag module to no avail. they say that this is an isolated problem & there is no correction. this opinion was echoed during phone conversations with customer service personnel at general motors. i have been dealing with this matter, on a local level for approx. 18mos. with any progress this represents a significant safety problem for my passengers i've searched this problem on your web site & note that your records show 57 complaints for this particular auto. eleven (20%) were for the problem i've described in this complaint. i believe there is justification for a recall or other remediation. incident has been ongoing since10/08. incident date below is latest incident. *tr

1997 equinox passenger seat sensor intermittent. rose chevrolet claims they replaced the sensor under warranty that they had to wait 3 days for. as my wife was driving down interstate realized that her sister had no airbag. the display said it was off again. my wife could not reset the problem at that time w/o turning the car off/on and hoping it would see that her sister was indeed sitting there. will be taking this back to rose chevrolet in hamilton oh again. *tr

Passenger side air bag worked intermittently while passenger was seated in seat. sometimes on when no one seated and off when someone seated. now check/service airbags lights are on and passenger side airbag stays off when someone seated. i am not sure if any of the airbags at this point will work because all airbag lights are on.

The passenger side air bag does not engage when i have a passenger in the car. there is an indicator to show the air bag either on or off, if someone is in the passenger seat or not. i have not had an accident but if i do the passenger could be seriously injured if the air bag does not deploy. *tr

First problem happened recall on spark plug boot 1 cylinder wasn't firing, was fixed under warranty as was the gasket for the hatchback was bad. that lead to a gallon or so of water into my spare tire compartment. this has since happened again and i need another gasket. the driver side window stopped working, being a electrician i found to broken wires inside rubber boot on door hinge side. abs light constantly comes on/off computer says abs needs service ( sensor problem). gas gauge is reading incorrectly, i have to use the range setting on the computer. speedometer readings incorrect sits at 60mph when the car is off. i bought this vehicle brand new and have nothing but problems, most of any vehicle i've owned. current mileage 63,000 miles. *tr

Too many times to count the passenger air bag sensors have not detected various passengers in this 07 equinox. brought it to dealership 2 times including once when sensors were replaced, have complained via phone numerous times & told they couldn't fix it. called gm hotline 02/13/08 & opened a new complaint case based on this & 2 other "unfixable" problems. they requested 1 more chance & truck was brought in 02/25/08. 02/26/08 gm rep called & told me the dealership looked at it & involved gm engineers & that there was no fix & he needed to call the field mgr to authorize a resolution since truck could not be returned due to safety liabilities. 02/29/08 still no return call to gm from field manager. gm states to stay in rental vehicle since truck is a safety liability & should not be driven. 03/05/08 gm rep states that, although he does not agree, the field mgr stated that when a passenger is present they need to watch for the "air bag off" light to be illuminated & the passenger needs to wiggle around and move until it goes out. she mandated that we return the rental car immediately as gm would not pay for it & we needed to retrieve our truck since it was working as designed. unbelieving that this would actually be gm's stance especially when they have a voluntary recall out on this exact issue in this vehicle (gm recall 07174) i asked him to confirm that he was telling me to pick up the truck they had been telling me was unsafe for passengers knowing that there would be a need for passengers in the vehicle, he said that wasn't his decision & there was nothing more he could do. i have numerous pictures of the "air bag off" light illuminated with someone clearly in the passenger seat, dated notes documenting all contact with gm on this issue & full records of the previous repair attempts since last year. it's my belief that not only is gm recall 07174 more widespread than they are admitting but i also don't believe they can definitively fix it. *tr

I was in an automobile accident 1/17/08, stopped to make a left hand turn and was struck from behind, pushed into the opposing lane and then struck in the front by a small bus. my vehicle was a total loss. no airbags deployed. i am concerned that with the amount of impact from the rear right and frontal collisions, that the airbags did not deploy. *cn

I had 2 chevy equinox 2007 model, loaded. first vehicle repurchased due to multiple episodes of stabilitrak failure, turn signals quit working, radio problems, passenger system airbag not working, and finally failure of main airbag system. given exact twin of first car, as thought that car was just a lemon. 2nd equinox had 2 episodes of stabilitrak failure, and a new steering column placed, and then had total system failure of the steering, brakes, gas, stabilitrak, and airbag system while driving the vehicle. i had absolutely no control over any of these systems! you could turn my steering wheel 360 degrees, and the wheels never moved, the brakes didn't work, the gas didn't work, and all alarms were going off that the systems, including the airbags were not working. luckily, no one was injured as i had just begun making a turn into roadway and all vehicles coming at me both ways were able to swerve, and the car was going slow enough and over a slight incline that it rolled to a stop just before hitting a steel light post. this car was also repurchased. something is very wrong in the engineering of this vehicle and i am concerned for all the other people owning/driving this vehicle. *tr

The passenger air bag only comes on now & then. my vehicle has been to the garage numerous times. i've explained what happens. also have issue with wipes work, then not, blinkers work then not, blinkers double click. radio gets real loud sometimes, beeps when door open real loud. have replaced 3 batteries & two starters. but everytime in garage, hear "nothing wrong". i don't feel safe driving my car. i'm afraid if i get in accident my air bag wont work. all this started six months after bought car. *tr

The speedometer stopped working ,the passenger air bags on and off light was going on then off now not working at all the power searing went out and then back working after the dealer tried to charge my wife 800 plus for parts not needed all this has been going on sense she first bout it off the dealer lot but they refused to resolve the electrical problems they replaced the speed odometer and even noted it in there paper work that there was body electrical ` problems with this equinox and yet still refuse to ether fix it or replace the car with a equal value all these problems was going on before the warranty ever ran out and we have now been fighting with the dealers and gm over this now for over 7 years it even had the key switch that wont work some times and sometimes it will lock up and cut off when going down the road its done this twice now in the past year i don't feel like i nor my wife [xxx] should pay to fix problems on this car due to the fact that it has all been happening since we bout the car new with less than a 100 miles on this car the dealers keep saying they cant make any codes come up but yet when we go in to them we show them what's going on with it scene it was new im sick of them lieing to us and not fixing there problems they know that are wrong with this truck if they new it had electrical problems with the truck when they did the work on the truck when it was new why didn't they fix it instead of lieing and covering up it and lieing to my wife iv had to take off from my work now for a week fighting these people and im sick of it and still have to pay more money out off my pocket over all this isn't far when we have the paper work from them stating it has electrical problems from day one. *tr
