Problems with 2014 Chevrolet Cruze ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Nox position 1 sensor went bad. it was recalled on other chevy cruze diesel vins but mine was not recalled and it went bad i took it to the dealer for a check engine light and they told me it was a nox sensor but that it was not recalled on my vin so it was not covered

It starts on its own

When the car is in the park position and the key is in the ignition switch in the off position, the engine will randomly begin to start. sometimes, if the key is not in the ignition switch and touches the opening of the ignition switch the car engine will begin to start. i think it's a faulty ignition switch.

Was driving on the freeway exiting the offramp that curves to the right. when i turned the steering wheel it locked up and the stereo turned off. i had no control over the direction my vehicle was traveling. i applied my brake, to keep from hitting another vehicle. when i pressed my brake the steering wheel unlocked briefly then locked again. then a yellow ⚠️ warning light illuminated and my car began to pull to the right. the stereo powered on and the steering wheel returned to normal. the yellow warning ⚠️ light turned off. i continued to travel another 1.5-2 miles more to my home and it happened again. this time a green dash light illuminated and said service power steering. i parked my car at that point. i am contacting the dealership to make arrangements for repair. the reason why i am filing a complaint is because of the danger associated with this type of malfunction. it put my life and other drivers life is at stake. this is not an acceptable way for a vehicle to function. this is not the only time i've had an electrical issue with my vehicle. in october 2018 after driving to mammoth california my vehicle completely turned off while i was on the highway. something similar to a stall out.

Everything on the dash shut off. heat and air shut off. service stability track warning comes on. engine fan running all the time. steering locks.

Sometimes while driving, if you hit the brake or hit the window switch, the power to the radio panel and drivers display will cut off, sometimes the "service stabilitrac" signal will come up and the power will come back on after a few seconds, when this happens it will also cut power to the power steering, if you are not prepared for it or your not aware of the situation it can surprise you, it can be especially startling while turning and all of a sudden power cuts out and you have trouble steering, the car will stay running and the power will cut for a few seconds, and then everything will go back to normal. looking online this seems to be a common issue with the earlier chevy cruz. i am just not sure of the full extent of the issue.

All the sub-systems on the 2014 chevy cruze are controlled through the radio system. when backing up, the backup camera, which is displayed through the radio entertainment screen, does not engage. several of the other sub-systems, including the ac, the radio itself, and other systems are also intermittent while driving the car. in order to reset the system the car has had to be pulled over to the side of the road and turned off completely, let sit for several minutes, and the restarted. after doing so the system has reset, but has done the same thing days or weeks later. after bringing the car in to the dealer over four time the problems have yet to be resolved.

I was driving on 65 s and i lost all power to my car, my car is having a hard time starting. went to have my starter tested and wasnt that, it's my battery and the cables. car is unsafe to be driving and all cruze should have a recall on them. my battery light will come on then a message will pop us saying power steering

The page previous to this one would not let my check every box (3 max), the other things i would have checked that were affected are -lighting -speed control -steering -wiper -traction pictures show these two signals that pop up "service stabilitrak" and "service traction control". whilst im driving some come things start to happen; the radio/ dash stereo will flicker on and off- all noise stops (any music or blinkers), the heater/ ac wil stop blowing if it is on. sometimes when this happens my power steering will also go out, jerking the steering wheel while im driving, and happens alot when im turning (very scary). the dash will also flicker with abs, brake, traction, lights. some days it will happen very frequently ,other days it will only happen a couple times. i am uncertain what i am doing that is making it act this way. when i am at a stoplight, or drive thru and the same thing as above happens my engine will suddenly shut off while my windshield wipers activate out of no where- very startling (this has happened while my gear shift was in park and while im holding the brake in drive). this has happened multiple times and while in different situations, stationary, in motion, city street, highway, turning, going straight, braking, none of this has happened until a few months ago. sometimes when i start my car in the morning to warm i come back outside and then engine had shut itself off. the traction does not seem like it is gripping to the road very well, winter has just started, and i am scared to drive it. i am going to get it checked out at a chevy dealership as soon as i get the money. i have just now had the car for a year, myself. thank you.

The car was being driven from one state to the next. it was a two in a half hour drive. not even a hour into it the check engine light came on. the we made sure to check everything before we left home. it was fine. than the auto start wouldn't work. allied on start and they said you should be able to. but i can't. than it started making this weird sound whenever i drive. i went to autozone and they said there's nothing caught in it, it's the engine. now whenever i drive and wait at a red light the car starts shaking a lot. it's raining now and i'm scared i my loss control.

Had started noticing that when i would start my car my radio would sometimes take a long time to come on. eventually woke up one day to start my car and it would not start. this should not be happening because the battery is not even a year old. used my portable jumper to charger and took it to get read and it was not the battery. i was told that there was an electrical drain that was still charging my battery even after it was turned off. the second issue is when i am driving and go to give the car gas and the car would not immediately accelerate causing to me to almost be hit twice. i had to give it gas a second time in order for it to accelerate

Driving home at 9pm on a high speed/traffic highway, we had all electricity/steering suddenly go out, then when it came back on popped up with a "service stabilitrak " message. luckily, it came back on before a wreck but scared all of us to pieces. the car was being driven at the posted 70mph speed limit, but started to decelerate when power was lost. this happened on 07/08/19. today, 07/11/19 we had to jump the car and the turn signals no longer do the little "click" noise, and the dash screen/backup camera won't come on, although the radio still somehow works. also on lunch break today, car was dead, key wouldn't come out of the ignition till the car was jump started. as this seems to be a major issue with the car, why hasn't it been recalled?

There is a problem with how the car is communicating with the anti theft system, at least that's what i am suspecting. randomly, when i try to start the car the dashboard lights come on, the radio, and everything else except the engine won't even crank. i've had the basics checked (battery, alternator, starter) and all is well. while it may not seem like a safety issue the car has left me stranded many times. this is an ongoing issue i don't know what to do about this.

Radio screen loses power, goes completely black. music stops playing. warning lights on dash come on. message appears on dash "service stabiltrack" shut off for 1-4 minutes, and then came back on. loss of power steering. happened 7 or 8 times in a 30 minute period.

When i turned off my car and the keys were in the ignition my car tried to start itself...it now does it frequently

My vehicle has been having issues where it will take extra time to get it started up. when i finally do get it started, warning lights flash saying power steering system, the antitheft stays on, as well as the engine management light. i just had my car serviced not too long ago for a coolant leak on the engine hose. i have always kept up with oil changes as well as all other fluid levels checked regularly. i first began thinking it was the battery, however i have had the battery tested and it is still basically new.

While driving, the engine suddenly stopped and messages appeared on dash about servicing air bag and power steering. very dangerous as car was moving 45 mph and had to move to shoulder. towed to dealer and was told it was negative battery cable. happened again - towed it back to dealer and was told it was positive battery cable.

I was checking a lot of the stats online for the 2014 chevy cruze and there were already reports out safety reports that there were some issues with the vehicles ignition and power steering and there were numbers and codes and i'm a bit upset because they sold me this vehicle knowing that there was some things that were wrong with the vehicle and that could have been my safety at risk while i'm driving on the road and the engine just shuts down the way it's been doing.

The side detection went out and they fixed it then i had to have it changed again im going to start a law suit because i should not have to pay for something that keeps blowing out ive talked to a lawyer and they said i have a good case

All digital electronic messages will spin if you turn key where you would read speed. manual gauges are not working. check engine, air bag, stability control system lights all on. car started for less than 5 seconds and the smell of extreme electrical so bad.. turn off immediately. lift hood and everything too hot too touch. can't get help from anyone! they say no recalls. the car is a recall where. i purchased it at, gallas chevrolet, albuquerque nm told me before this di not drive could be fatal. but will not pay for a tow or diagnostic test. gm financial, my financial company said it should be easy they take the car back send it in. they will credit our note. When i park my car and if i leave the keys in the ignition it starts itself i cant get a video i tried but i never know when its gonna do it it started about 6 months ago and now it's doing it alot more

Nhtsa is number 11193552 i have the same problem as this customer to the t. the cars radio will shut off while driving after i take they key out while parked the key fob will not lock the car and then if put into the ingishon it will eat the key and lock up . this is a common problem that needs to be looked into there shouldn't be a youtube video with 50k views on how to get your car key out of the ingishon after the elitrical problems. please fully read nhtsa number 11193552 report as it is the most detailed and reliable source of info for this problem . it happens more often then once so the date when this happend will be the latest accornce of this.

Nhtsa is number 11192482 same problem as this customer raido shuts off while driving then key fob will not lock the car after pulling the key out after this happens nothing will lock or turn on.put the key in and it will lock up the key in the ingishon and not even get into the on position ( iv made corrections to the nhtsa number )

(xxxxx) was in the car and it was idling at the sandy, utah mcdonalds parking lot when smoke and smell came from engine. she put out fire with water. i arrived 15-20 minutes later to help. i inspected engine compartment and did a visual check only to find burnt wiring. there was no other known issues and verified no fluids spilled. i called the insurance company and they had towed to riverton chevrolet to work with chevrolet and have known engine fire risks. 2014 chevrolet cruise case# 95243938936 (gm) vin: (xxxxxx) 4/11/19 insurance company towed to riverton motors. riverton motors invoice# 6209533 / 6206861/1 4/11/19 the day after the engine fire, i received a call from fred uribe (service rep.) from the riverton motors service center. he stated that there was oil all over and it needed repair. i told him that the car was in for an engine fire and i never had an oil or any car leaks. he told me it would be ~$600 to repair the oil cooler leak and it needed to be repaired before the engine fire issue. a few days later fred called and said it was actually a transmission fluid leak. they diagnosed the fire as being started from the transmission fluid leak? the invoice wrongly stated that i reported a leak needing repair and not the fire i reported!!! i informed riverton motors that there was an engine fire and not any leaks. invoice incorrectly stated: customer stated vehicle has a coolant leak, later stated the customer stated vehicle has an oil leak. and then vehicle found the radiator leaking. the invoice did not state the actual reason for the service was an engine fire!!!! state farm insurance claim: 44-8388-q93 amount:  $148.78 comprehensive - fire 5/20/19 reported to gm/machella engine fire 2014 chevrolet cruise case# 95243938936 6/10/19 reported to nhtsa parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While driving my car the radio dashboard will start flashing on and off on its own then when i put the car in park and turn it off the key is stuck in the ignition and the dashboard is completely black and the car will not turn on at all. 3/28/2019 around 11pm the car radio dash board was flashing and i turn my car off and it will not allow me to take the key out at all well some time through out the night the car turned back on because at 6am the lights where back on in my car by itself. the next morning i drive my car to school and it does the same thing with the dashboard and flashing on and off and it shuts off again, this time i get a jump start and the car is back working. the car also act as if it was going to shut off while driving it. but it has done this to me back on november 8,2018. i fear for my life driving this car beacuse you have no idea when the car will shut off while on the road. someone has to do something about this issue because if some one die in a car accident and it is found to be electrical problems there is a big law suit coming. i am making this complaint just for that. we spends literally thousands of dollars on a car and when the car has a defect the consumers are messed over by the dealerships and whom ever makes the car. then you have to have so many complaints in order for a recall or is it how many people have to die in order for someone to look and see that this car has electrical issues and will shut off on you at ant time.hello! it never fails the car starts giving you issue after the warranty has expired its like they have it program.i am complaining because they are avoiding the fact that this car has major electrical issues and how many complaints or lives will it take for a recall? my car was stationary, in motion, on the highway when this all happened. ref#14v417000 the dealership replace the black cable but my car is still

I've noticed my radio and lights on screen goes out while i'm driving sometimes and i think that's an electrical problem and could probably start fire.

We have had to replace the entire def system twice, replaced two knock sensors, had to replace the diesel partilec sensor, among many other time being the shop. this car has not ran right since we bought it. now, everytime we start the car and begin to drive it, we get a warning about the stabiltrak not working, then powersteering goes out, and entire car shuts down and goes black when the car is powered off. this seems to be a very common issue within these vehicles.

To whom it may concern, i would like to file a complaint on the safety hazard caused by faulty blind spot detectors on chevy cruzes. i started receiving a notification on my dashboard that the blind spot alert system needed service. only a week later i was receiving notifications that the alert was turned off. when i took it to the chevy dealer they ran the software and said that it was defective and they needed to replace the blind spot detector modules for $900. at first gm seemed willing to work and start a case file and lowered the price to $734. currently my cars blind spot isn't working and it seems to have spread to the rear cross traffic alert which is notifying me that it's turned off as well. the chevy dealer said that they would try and replace the blind spot modules and hopefully that would fix the rear cross traffic detectors. due to the class action lawsuit (seen here) https://www.truthinadvertising.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/hudson-v-general-motors-complaint.pdf and various other online complaints ( https://chevroletforum.com/forum/impala-14/blind-spot-detection-problem-81694/page2/) i believe chevrolet and gm should be held accountable for the faulty safety systems they have installed.

The steering wheel sticks when i am driving. it's extremely noticeable when driving on the highway or making turns. the electrical system comes on and off when the vehicle is operational. all of a sudden my radio will go on and off and the air conditioner and the heater will stop working. i have 5 children and 3 still at home and i'm afraid to drive my car but unfortunately it's all we have.

When the vehicle comes to a stop the headlights start to glitch, the radio goes off and a warning for the stabilitrak comes on as well as a power steering warning. once the car comes to a stop intermittently it will go completely dead and the negative battery cable if tapped on will cause the vehicle to come back on with no issue. battery has been replaced as new but issue still occurs

I will be driving when all of the lights on my dash start going on and off , power service track shows up, my radio will shut off and it becomes a black screen. i will be driving or stopped at a red light or turning and the car will actually completely turn off and start coasting. if i am at a stop light i will than have to put the car into park and then turn the key to start the engine again. i have had to jump my car numerous time to where i keep a portable jump in my car. my key will get locked in the ignition and i have to stick a wrench under the steering wheel to get it out. i have replaced my alternator and my battery was so swollen i had to replace that as well. the wiring was replaced to connect the battery and alternator and i just had the bcm replaced. i'm still having all these issues after all these repairs. this has been happening since november of last year and it happens every time i drive my car!

Problem no.1, my cruze has lost power, the heater puts out cold air, the radiator is losing fluid, the engine has started to over heat, and there is wet spot under the exhaust pipe when i idle the engine! that means my car has ether a blowen head gasket or cracked head! the car has less then 85,000 miles and if the head is cracked, i think i know why because gm decked the block the short-way center out to the ends! witch can leave a valley in the center of the block! they made the same mistake with the grand am quad-4! the head all cracked between cylinders 2 and 3 because the block wasn't decked square! i have to take it to the dealer on sat 12/29/18 wish someone would check the block, i know the dealer will try to blame my and to make me pay for some or all of it, even though it is sill under warranty! problem no.2, i purchased a new chevy cruze eco with a manual transmission 4 years ago, i got it because i wanted a high mpg car and i have been driving standard transmission since i started driving and i knew i could better mileage then rated (65.5 mpg my best score!), but the shifter has to much slop in it, i had a cutlass with a hurst shifter that was 16 inches tall and used that had less slop! i have complained to dealer about it since the day i got car! three times i have put the transmission in both first and third gear at the same time! i can't tell you how many time i have missed the shift while still holding all the way in position! if i am in a hurry i can't find the gear at all! problem no.3, the hydraulic throw-out bearing is slushy and slow. because the master-cylinder and feed-line is to small! i am a fast shifter, and i can out shift the clutch! that is bad because the pressure plate doesn't close fast enough it causes excess ware and burning of the clutch!

I bought the car from a dealer in 2014 and whenever i don't drive it for a 24 hour period the battery will be dead and require a jump start. i've changed the battery 4 times but the battery isn't the problem. something is killing the battery.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet cruze. when the vehicle was purchased, it experienced electrical failures and shut on and off. also, the brakes skipped and the vehicle jerked when coming to a stop. the failures occurred while the vehicle was being test driven. premier car sales llc (5425 elvis presley blvd, memphis, tn 38116) stated that the failures would be repaired before the sale was final. the dealer claimed that the vehicle was taken to an unknown chevrolet dealer for repairs. after the sale of the vehicle, the brake failure recurred and the contact returned to the dealer. the contact was informed to take the vehicle to a chevrolet dealer for repairs since it was under warranty. before the contact could take the vehicle to a dealer, she was involved in a crash. while making a left turn in the rain, the vehicle shut off and slid into the side of a curb. the axles, rotor, spindle, and rims were fractured. the vehicle was towed to the contact's home. a police report was not filed and there were no injuries. the vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer to be diagnosed and they stated there were no recalls. the contact was referred to general motors. the contact bought new rotors, a new spindle, and rims and had them replaced by an independent mechanic. general motors refused to investigate the failure because repairs had been made; however, the brakes continued to malfunction. the failure mileage was 36,000.

Driving home from work at 11:15pm on september 8th, nearing the toll plaza in gary, indiana the car made a sudden sound kindve like a bang, the engine shut off, all the lights on the dash came on, i came to a stop and tried several times to start the vehicle and it would not do anything. every time i tuned the key to the off position and then turned it to accessory, the dash displays service air bag and service power steering. the windows, door locks, truck release will not work. i had to call my insurance company and set up a tow to get the car back home. i had to be at work at 7am that day, i worked 16 hours, and didn't get home till 1:30am on september 9th. the car is in my driveway, it will not start or even turn over.

Vehicle is experiencing severe issues with the power when vehicle is in motion. on several occasions i have been driving down the road and the vehicle will all of a sudden, without warning shut down multiple essential components - including power steering, headlights, radio will go in and out, display screen will go off, turn signals, etc. pretty much anything that takes power will fail. however the vehicle will still remain on (and not in aux mode) and acceleration will not be affected. around the time that these issues began a warning light for stabilitrack came on the dash board and several more warning lights have come on since. this has occurred when vehicle has been on city streets and freeway including as i have been negating a turn. this has caused an extreme safety hazard as i have almost lost control of vehicle and run off the road or hit other vehicles head on during the failure.

Car will turn off while driving. ive owned this car for a little over a year and just started doing this 5 times in the last 2 weeks. this has happened while on highway in traffic, twice in town in traffic. the car is in motion on the higway when this happened, it also has happened turning onto higway with other cars behind me i almost got rear ended by a car behind me cause the car lost power! it has also turn itself off and on in park. this needs to be fixed before there is a major accident that causes bodly harm!!! this is a safety hazarrd!!! i bought extended warranty on this car. i have an appointment with the dealership july 31st to find the issue. i also have contacted gm. i know that there was a recall for ignition problems concerning this vehilce in 2014, when you pull up my vin there has been no recall. i am very concerned for my safty in this car. i have had a friend that has a code reader look and it said there is an engine issue???? i do not want to have to get an attorney involved but i will if this becomes an issue. this is very scary!!!!

For a little over a year, i have experienced the radio shutting off and on, stabilitrak showing as needing service, the car shuddering, and the check engine light coming on. i have brought the car into a mechanic 3 times to determine what may be causing the check engine light to come on, and 3 times the computer says air intake. i have had just about everything changed, check engine light goes off, i drive for about 30 minutes, and it comes back on. over $700.00 in replacement parts and labor, and still the problem persists. today 7/1/2018, i drove down to have the oil changed and for the first time, the engine light has not come on, but now the car does not want to start and sounds like the starter or the battery is dying. this is above and beyond the most frustrating car problem i have every had, and i can't seem to find anyone capable of answering the problems with this car. the electrical problems spring up in the middle of nowhere while driving in town, and it seems to be okay for a few days if you mess with the battery cables, but they have already been replaced once and the problem is back!!!

I have had repeated electrical issues with this car. it started with the radio shutting on & off on its own. then the stabilitrack started flashing on. the first few times that was all it was, but in the fall of 2017, that sensor would come on & my brakes & steering were affected. in addition, the car will have moments where it blanks out just briefly while driving, usually noticed by the radio going off & on. i have also had the key get locked in the ignition. yesterday, 6/17/18, i went to start my car in a parking lot & several sensors came up, battery charging system, stabilitrack, & power steering. car would not start, i kept shutting off the radio, & it would come back on. car rested for 2 hours & then started again. once driving, the steering was not right. took a quarter of a mile of driving before the steering wheel did not pull 1/4 of the way to the left on its own. i have taken this car into the dealer with all of these complaints except the incident yesterday. their solution has been new battery and new battery cables-twice. in the fall of 2017, i mentioned seeing similar issues online & they dismissed it. i just called about the 6/17/18 issue & i am getting the run-around from them.

The radio turns off and on and when it turns off the steering wheel locks up.

Driving 70 mph down highway,turn turn signal on to change lanes and, loss of power steering, radio shuts off and service stabilitrak light comes on. all happening simultaneously. this is the second time this has happened. the 1st time i nearly ran into a parked vehicle while turning into a neighborhood.

2014 chevrolet cruze is flashing traction control light and radio is turning off intermittently while in motion. this started around may 1, 2018 and now has occurred on 4 separate occasions. there are currently no recalls for this problem and needs to be addressed with general motors.

I purchased this vehicle used from a dealership 27 days ago. two days ago i went to restart car after a short drive and the car did not crank, dash remained black, key was stuck in ignition. my daughter in law told me to pop the hood and upon wiggling battery cables freed the key from stuck position and i was able to start the car and drive home. this is when i learned this is not the first time of occurrence. i was hospitalized several days after purchase and my kids used the car. they neglected to tell me twice they lost power while in motion and car shut off. the first time was while exiting off the freeway. the second was while making turn after idling at a red light several minutes. both times the vehicle power steering ceased and steering became difficult. on another occasion they experienced a no start similar to mine, a short drive, then car was parked and shut off for a short time , no crank at restart, black dash, stuck key. i had previously mentioned to dealer tech that car fails to keep current date and time. each day i note it has reverted back again to the year 2010 and an incorrect time. a reset like click in engine compartment several minutes after turning off engine is frequently heard. radio and dash lights have flashed while car is in motion on several occasions now.

Chevy 2014 cruze has malfunctioning sensors in the bumper of the car.the car gets wet.the sensors shut down and the battery won't charge and the car comes to a complete stop. the solution from g:m is to replace negative battery cable and the sensors and wire harness . how ever they will not issue a recall and this is very dangerous. my daughters battery went dead on the freeway. after research battery was replaced and negative cable replaced but g:m wants $2800.00 to replace sensors..this car has 52,000 miles on it and it's not safe..g:m admits they upgraded the sensors and harness so it's not supposed to happen again.won't stand behind the original product. these vehicles are in danger of shutting down at any speed and at anytime. at least they should issue a recall on the negative battery cable not a service bulletin #314...

My display and radio began intermittently flashing off and on. then my stabilitrak service light began coming on. i have loss of power and am concerned for my safety trying to drive under these conditions. i am contacting the manufacturer who should warranty this manufacturing defect. there are hundreds of complaints on the chevy forum website. we deserve some sort of help with this and not at our expense. the problem i described happened while stationary and in motion but the loss of power is while driving. i'm concerned about getting hit while driving. please help. Car electrical system problem failure date:2/27/18 the radio dashboard powers on and off (frequently at times). it appeared to happen more when the car was stopped. when this happened, the dashboard would display: "service stabilitrak" this begin happening on 2/27/18 and it has happened several times since.
