We have classified the 53 complaints from 2010 Cadillac SRX about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
My car was going 70 on the interstate and the reduced engine power signal came on and my car jerked and started powering down. it was a throttle body issue. now my cars electrical system won't work, and electronic stability control won't work because of small magnets that had poor design. my car windows don't open. the electrical system shuts of while the car is driving and i can't see my steering panel at all.
Since the sunroof drain tube dislodged causing water to leak inside causing an electrical short. the computer doesn't sense the driver door. you can drive with the door open and no ajar warning. the window doesn't go up or down. the radio and interior lights do not go off once you exit the vehicle. it shuts off automatically after 10mins as oppose to shut off when you open the driver door. there's a class action lawsuit regarding this problem
Water leaks into the headlights poor lighting . almost have a accident
My tail gate lift opens on it's own even when the switch inside the car in in the off position when the car is parked
The radio has power but no sound .th door ajar chimes dont work and turn singnals dont click this is a internment problem that could last up to a few days doesnt matter where im driven than every thing starts workin till the next time it happens
Faulty headlamp that i keep having to replace something on it because it keeps going out and ac will not get cold on level 1,2, or 3. it's giving faulty codes.
The sun roof drain tubes came away from the firewall on all 4 sides. water leaked all over the gas pedal and the break. i have slid off the street trying to break causing damage to a yard. the electrical on the radio system and lights short out because of water getting into the dash. the back hatch has water leaking directly into the circuit board that controls it and not will not allow the hatch to open.
Tailgate will not stay up. if it would have hit my wife, it would been a disaster. fortunately, she got out of the way in time. the car was stationary when my wife tried to open the tailgate. tailgate will not stay up.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. the contact stated that the front passenger low beam headlights shorted more than twice. the bulb was replaced by the contact. during the third failure, the bulb failed to illuminate. the contact was uncertain as to what was causing the failure. the dealer (james hodge chevrolet of broken bow, 1207 s park dr, broken bow, ok 74728, (888) 592-3964) inspected the vehicle and provided testing to check for moisture within the headlamp assemblies, but was unable to determine a remedy to prevent the failure. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 116,003.
I drove the vehicle, parked, and i noticed the engine fan didnt turn off in a reasonable amount of time after parked (over 2 hours). i drove to the dealer only for them to refuse to run a simple diagnostic. was driving and vehicle being accelerating even after i completely removed me feet; i also looked down witnessed the pedal modulating itself in and out, shortly followed by an abrupt braking incident. i was just able to restart and pull over to emergency stop. i hadnt gotten far from the dealer, so after two hours of waiting for a tow truck, i attempted to drive the truck back to the dealer only to have the same violent braking but this time also followed by a sporadic loss of power steering. i was able to creep the vehicle back to the dealer and control any losses of control, it felt like the vehicle was having a seizure. please investigate my stall, unintended braking, power steering loss, and fan (i imagine this could be a fire issue as well). thank you
The rear power lift gate door on my 2010 cadillac srx (23,000 miles) recently started closing suddenly only seconds after opening. during the 2nd time this happened, i was struck on the back of the head and upper back. this is a very dangerous situation and could injure an adult, or worse - a child! cadillac needs to fix this immediately. please let me know what i should do. thanks.
Front passenger headlight has moisture in headlight assembly. after reviewing several gm/cadillac websites it appears this is a known issue with srx owners and is only replaced under warranty. light will short out over time and stop working according to other owner reports. vehicle was recently purchased and current owner noticed the issue.
Headlight warning message that a headlight was out. several new bulbs were tried but did not correct the problem. also, water accumulation inside the headlight assembly. suspect problem with false reading to message center. research online indicates this safety problem is not an isolated issue for this vehicle. no attempt to remedy it by general motors. dealer quoted extremely high prices for all associated parts to try to repair.
My dashboard went completely black and the gauge needles moved quickly back and forth. i was traveling on the highway at about 60 miles/hour. dashboard was black for 30-60 seconds. car continued to function.
Right passenger headlight keeps flooding with water, lights go out cant see while driving. dealer wants $2,000.00 to replace. this happens very frequently. water leaks on floor and on the electrical of passenger side from sunroof drain, i've been told the drain is too short and disconnects. these are defaults in the car, we should not have to keep paying to have fixed. *tr
Tonight sept. 25th, 2016 it happened again. my dashboard went completely black for a minute or two. the first time it happened was several months ago and i thought it was a temporary glitch. both incidents occurred while driving home at night on the freeway doing 70-75 miles/hr. i'm not sure if the headlights went out as well because i'm too focused on remaining calm and keeping my eyes on the road preventing an accident from happening. the car was in motion on the freeway while this occurred. this first time it happened i was driving straight down the freeway. the second time it occurred i was exiting and taking a curve on the loop. i don't know what it'll take for a recall to happen but i hope it won't take a deadly crash to occur before they decide to have a recall for this issue. i've read on other sites this problem is a known fact with the company and yet no action has taken place to remedy this. someone do something!
My car has push to start and the keys should detect and start your vehicle when you get in the car. the idol kept saying no remote detected . the only way to start the car was to put the keypad in the middle console. i took it to christians brothers automotive where the diagnostic said i needed to replace the keyless entry module. a week later while i was driving it , the idol on the screen said no remote detected and the car completely shut off while i'm in motion. the only way to start it again was to hold the keypad against the middle console.i took it back to christian brothers where they printed out the technical bulletin that deems this issue to be a known issue since 2010 and that i will have to take it to a cadillac dealership where i will have to pay again for a diagnostic and whatever issues they come up with. ron carter cadillac doesn't have appointments available for six weeks and because this has not been made a recall, they will not warranty what they know is a known issue with the car. if i continue to pay to repair this module and it shuts off on me in the middle of traffic or at high speeds, i could be seriously injured or killed. i don't understand the purpose of providing a technical bulletin that you don't intend to make a recall when you know it's an issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. the contact stated that water leaked into the vehicle from the moon roof. it was later discovered that the tubes/drain hose failed and caused an electrical short. in addition, the liftgate failed to function. the vehicle was taken to a dealer and independent mechanic for further inspection and diagnosis. the contact was not notified of the manufacturer's service campaign (14225) from january 4, 2015 regarding the sun roof drain hose leak. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was to check with the manufacturer to determine if they may be able to provide a solution. the failure mileage was not available.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. the contact stated that the driver side low beam headlight failed to illuminate. the dealer diagnosed that there was water intrusion and that the light fixture needed to be replaced. the dealer did not specify if a seal fractured or if there was a remedy for the short circuit electrical failure other than replacing the low beam head lamp assembly. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and indicated that there was no manufacturer recall to cover the repair. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
Headlamp condensation causing lamp to go out sometimes will come back on. should not be happening. never had another vehicle have this issue. should be a recall to fix this expensive condensation and lamp. police enjoy stopping vehicles with no light! this has beenoccuring over last 6 months more off than on. rain really makes worse. condensation never completely goes away and inside indicstor light stayson all the time 24/7. #2 another issue is sun roof will not shut. window will close but cover stops half way and will not advance any further. had taken to baker cadillac in charleston, sc for service march 1 2016. worked on it for 2 days and told not fixable. why is it not fixable? recalls should be issued on these problems srx owners are having on these luxaury vehicles.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle vibrated severely and jerked before suddenly accelerating independently. the contact mentioned that the brakes did not respond when the brake pedal was depressed and the hand brake failed to operate when engaged. in addition, the instrument panel warning lights flickered. the contact mentioned that the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
After a rain storm, my headlights condensed up, then the right lamp went out, after replacing the hei lamp, the left lamp went out. these lamps are vary costly, plus the labor, because gm has a poor seal around the headlamp. the vehicle was parked at the time of the rain.
The headlights get moisture in them causing headlights to barely work. i can't see anything at night. it is so dangerous! california and florida have had successful lawsuits over the issue and cadillac's owners are getting reimbursed. why can't we get reimbursed in minnesota?
My power hatch back opens on its own all the time.
The headlamp on the driver's side filled with condensation and water. the low beam went out. it came back on after a frost. it went out again while i was driving. the next day the high beam and other lights were out. today, the high beam is working. because of the faulty headlamp, i received a ticket. some 2010 cadillac srx vehicles have a recall for this problem, others don't. minedoesn't because it is from another factory.
The rear lift gate electronic control module is a manufactures defect. the sunroof drain apparently is a manufacturers defect and does not function properly. it does not drain and as a result allows water to short out and destroy the electronic control module. the first time this occurred was while the vehicle was under warranty. there was a recall on the drain that should have fixed the problem but it did not. the rear lift gate became inoperable again this time becoming completely inoperable. the cadillac dealer david taylor blamed the sunroof drain once again would not warranty their past work nor their future attempts to solve the problem saying only that at any time the drain could become clogged again causing the control module to short out and if it was past one year or twelve thousand miles that i would just have to pay another grand to have it fixed again. so basically a recall item a manufacturers defect that is aresponsibility of cadillac is now a reoccurring problem that is solely the responsibility of the customer to spend a thousand dollars every couple of years for a non weather able item. this is not a motor or transmission or a set of tires this is a design defect that is the responsibility of the manufacturer and therefore the dealer. the rear lift gate is dangerous when operable due to opening and closing improperly erratically and unexpectantly possibly getting an adult child or animals limbs or extremities caught in the lift gate. also when the lift gate becomes copletely inoperable one might have a limb or extremity caught and not have any means of opening the lift gate manually for when it stops working there is no way to release it. cadillac is obviously aware of the defective design and manufacture of this unit and are risking consumers safety but just refuse to do anything to resolve the problem. 780000 gm lift gates recalled why not cadillac
There was a recall on the low beam headlight plug assembly on the 2010 srx. the faulty plug would cause the lowbeam headlights to not function. the plug would allow for the high beams to work properly but the plug would not allow the halogen lowbeam said to work. david taylor supposedly fixed this problem however a few years later the lowbeam headlights became completely inoperable causing the driver to have zero visibility while using the headlights. the highbeams would work perfectly. i argued with the dealer that it had something to do with the plug however they insisted that the problem was that the light assembly because of faulty manufacturing allowed water to enter the low beam lens and in turn cloud the lens. i insisted otherwise because there was visible condensation in the headlight assembly but none in the low beams. unfortunately this situation had me over a barrel because the driver had already been risking their life and other drivers lives on the road while being forced to drive with only high beams or without any illumination of the road way at all. i had no choice but to spend 1500 dollars on headlights. now regardless of the reason whether it was a faulty manufactured plug or a faulty sealed manufactured headlamp assembly the problems it poses are the same. cadillac has a poorly manufactured headlight assembly and plug assembly that are endangering people's lives. when these low beams become inoperable the driver has zero visibility and are forced to choose between driving with their highbeams on and blinding other drivers or driving without any headlights which could cause death or bodily harm to the driver or any property or persons that the driver cannot see. cadillac knows they have a problem but are willing to risk people's lives in order to save a few dollars. they have a faulty product that the nhtsa should resolve before there is loss of life
I have noticed that it has been a lot of complaints about the headlights on cadillac srx and it is very expensive just to replace the part. the light joust goes out if your driving or not and it should be a recall on this before someone has a serious accident.
Low beam socket burned.
This model has a history of collecting water in front headlights resulting in them shorting out and malfunctioning/failing. cadillac will not recall and they are very much aware of this problem. *tr
The front light headlight assembly seals wore out and the headlight blew out while we were driving home in the rain, at night. water penetrated the headlight which is what caused the lamp to blow out. i called gm and they played dumb and said they had never heard of this problem. yet as i was at the dealership to get it fixed there were other 2010 models driving in with the exact same problem. gm would not extend the warranty to cover this, as the warranty was over 4 years but still under the 50k miles. at $1400 each to replace these headlights, they need to fix this defect. additionally, they are going to kill someone if these headlights keep blowing out at nighttime in the rain. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. the contact stated that the low beam headlight assembly failed to work for the low beams. the contact had to use the high beam headlights as an interim repair each time the failure recurred. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Vehicle has a moon roof design that utilizes drain tubes to direct water away from the roof area. the drain system failed allowing rain water to enter the passenger compartment. water soaked the floor area where wiring was routed to the rear of the vehicle. this caused the wiring harness to fail due to water contamination at the connection points. rear hatch began to open uncontrollably on multiple occasions. rear hatch finally failed and would not open under any circumstances. after researching this i found that this is happening to other owners of this type of vehicle. *tr
2010 cadillac srx. consumer received recall notice. however, the notice stated there would be no charge, but on the second sheet, it stated to submit form reimbursement. *ta
Car had been turned off and parked for 4 hours. left rear tail light began to smoke and caught fire melting left rear of vehicle within minutes of fire dept being notified. fire was put out by fire department before vehicle would have exploded. *tr
I was making a turn on to a local highway and it just powered off it did restart. second time was dec 2014 i was in stalled traffic moving real slow and my car just shut off but this time it did it three times in a short period of time same as first time and im pretty worried cause im planning another trip in two weeks to wisconsin. *tr
The right exterior low beam light was out and the housing unit was full of excessive moisture. on september 2, 2014; bulb replaced; light out again by the end of the month for a week then all of a sudden back on again; then out again and on again; estimated cost of parts were $1,459 plus tax and s.s. now only the running lights on the left and right side are working. now try 1,459 plus tax and s.s.. times 2. this is a design flaw. why so much moisture an electrical lightening unit? the left side does not have a lot of moisture and the light is no longer working. nothing more upsetting than being away from home, its dark and your vehicle headlights will not come on. *js
Water drain from moon roof separated and water fluid ed the vehicle short in out many components. took in for service had to pay $1900. this should have been covered i feel that this repair should have been completed at no cost to me. being that there were at least five other vehicles in the same dealer repair shop at the same time. spoke to the technician repairing the car before mine and was told he knew actually what the problem was. he showed me that the drain tube came from the factory pulled to short and tight and when there is a heavy rain the run off caused the tubing that run down the front windshield end pillars to separate which then leads to water filling the interior cabin of the vehicle, in between the doors, over the dash and it's interior components, down into the lift gate and onto the interior flooring which it had and flooding it. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. while driving various speeds at night, the headlights failed to operate correctly and the driver was unable to see the roadway. the contact stated that the low beam lights failed so the high beams had to be activated. while the vehicle was at the dealer for routine service, the sun roof was left open and the interior of the vehicle became wet. the vehicle was left at the dealer for three months with water inside the vehicle. the dealer finally replaced the carpet; however, since retrieving the vehicle from the dealer, it experienced electrical issues and the headlights failed to operate correctly. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the headlight lenses were cleaned. the failure persisted. the manufacturer was made aware of the issues. the failure mileage was unknown.
Vehicle has an electric operated rear hatch. vehicle was in the garage, not running and wife had opened the rear hatch and was removing items from the back when the hatch activated and closed on it's own, knocking her down and pinning her under the lid. she managed to free herself but received bruises on her arm and a sore neck. *tr
The dashboard panel which displays the backup camera is very erratic. as i put the car in reverse it may or may not rise to display what is behind. if it does rise it may go up and down several times while backing up thus rendering this safety feature (the backup camera) totally useless if not dangerous. *tr
The idiot light or gauge light came on indicating that there was an electrical problem. we brought the vehicle right back to the used car dealer and he sent the vehicle down the block to the gm dealer who found some corroding wires , he supposedly fixed them. a couple days later the light came on again and w brought the vehicle back to the used car dealer who again brought it to the dealer where the cadillac was found to be heavily corroded in the harness area by the drivers side.. they told us that there might have been a leaf clog by the windshield and the wipers preventing proper drainedge. and the water backed up into the car. they supposedly changed the harness under the drivers mat. a couple of months later we noticed that the whole drivers sidewindow was very wet..we dismissed this incident with a mutual befuddlement. a couple of months later the whole drivers side window was frozen on the inside of the car. weekend of figured it had something to do with the drivers window being wet month earlier. now here it is in march of 2014 and my wife was looking for something in the car and she happened to touch the passenger front floor matt right after a heavy rain and she found the floormat soaked she got out the wet-dry vac and pulled near a half a gallon of water from the rug underneath the floor mat. *tr
This is a generic safety defect applicable to all cadillac vehicles for last several years and other makes with keyless ignition systems. this has happened before and will happen again if not remedied. i visited a post office today in dayton area. this location has some sort of strong frequency operation in the area evidently on same frequency as fob starting systems. i was unable to lock my car (key does work) or unlock it with fob (again key in door operates door locks). however the fob simply did not start car despite several efforts or after instructions to put in console next to receiver. had this been an emergency i would have been unable to leave the area. the car finally did start but only after a period of time and numerous attempts. if the fob does not register with the system there is no way to start the car. door has key access the rest of the ignition system does not. this is extremely unsafe and needs to e addressed. this is not an isolated incident as to either this location or make and model of car. *tr
Purchased 2010 cadillac srx new in 2010. this car was in the dealership garage more times than i owned it in the first 6 month. at 19,200 miles, car would not start. had it towed to dealer. no problem found. recharged battery. this battery failed a total of 8 times, finally on oct. 25, 2010, battery was bad, according to dealer, and replaced. unfortunately, the warranty had run out and i had to pay $249.66. isn't it strange that the dealer didn't find a defective battery until the warranty ran out. 8 times this battery failed. 8 times i was stranded.
I was rear-ended while i was stopped in traffic. there was minor damage to my rear bumper however this caused numerous issues with my car immediately thereafter. i experienced numerous electrical issues and then it got worse. i lost steering, brakes and and the engine stalled. the car became immobile and had to be towed to the dealership. after they serviced the vehicle, they found that the battery shorted out and the ecu had failed. i believe that because the problems occurred immediately after the collision that it was the collision that triggered them. i feel that this is a design flaw that could be very dangerous in such a situation. *tr
Passenger side head light has ongoing electrical short goes out indicates on the information center then will randomly come back on took it in to the dealer no fix. also when turning to the left or the right there is squeaking noise from the tires and suspension it gets worse when cold out. to pay 55,000.00 for a car and have ongoing issues. it also got new head gaskets at 51,000 miles and a new transmission at 43,000 because it wouldn't go in to reverse one afternoon. had to be towed to a dealer was replaced under warranty. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2010 cadillac srx. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the lights on the instrument panel suddenly turned off. the contact could not see the fuel gauge, speedometer or the tachometer. the contact pulled over, turned off the vehicle and restarted it; the lights turned back on after the restart. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. the failure mileage was 16,000.
The car states "remote not detected" even though the remote is in the vehicle. this has occurred four times since i bought the car in april 2010! once, the vehicle lost complete power when this occurred on the third time! what would have happened if this occurred while i was driving???? *tr
My wife has complained several times over the last year about sudden acceleration by her car. i did not pay much attention until she hit a car in a parking lot because her car jumped forward. no one was in the other car and my wife was not hurt. it happened again about a week ago so i took it to the dealer. they made some software adjustments suggested by general motors including one that read "addressing long hesitation/delays occurring when driver coasts to around 10mph and steps into an aggressive pedal". *tr
Loss of power steering, brakes, and engine while doing 65 mph on major highway. total shutdown. went immediately to dealer. checked car computer. said everything was fine; nothing to fix. really shook up wife passenger and me. has not happened again. am reporting this years later because of current gm compact car ignition problems. *tr
