I was driving my car out of nowhere it lost power this the third time it happens. its really scary because the last time i had my baby with me and that happened. i had to park and turn off the car also when i reverse it takes long to change gear.
I was backing out of a spot, as i usually do, the car took longer than usual to shift from park into drive (about 3-4 sec). drove normally for about a half-mile, stopped at a red light, went to accelerate, and then the transmission wouldn't come out of 1st gear and revved super high. pulled over, then drove to my mechanic about a half-mile back at about 8-10 mph with my caution lights on. he took it for a test drive and said it seemed fine (i.e. the transmission didn't slip), but what i explained to him sounded like the onset of transmission failure). he suggested something could have gotten lodged in there and blocked fluid flow, and when i turned my car off and he started it, that it could have fallen out before his test drive. ever since "the incident" the transmission is very slow up-shifting from 1st to 2nd and makes a noise when doing so, and also is very slow shifting from park to drive, or reverse to drive. my car has about 162,000 miles on it. as of now, nothing has been repaired on it, and was advised not to change the transmission fluid as ...

My transmission went out without any warning while in motion. i was driving down interstate 64 and the engine light turned on, and the vehicle went into limp-mode drastically dropping from 55mph to 25mph. there were many vehicles behind me. i worked to pull out of the way safely. the code on the car was p0741. crown acura richmond advised me that the transmission needed to be replaced.i have had my vehicle serviced by the dealer since purchasing it brand new on august 1, 2006. i've now spoken with several people, including a mechanic who reviewed the car to give me a second opinion. he recommended not replacing the transmission because there is a history of the transmissions failing without warning. it appears that there is a known defect and acura should have recalled this model. although i was not in an accident or hurt, there was a very high potential for that to happen if i hadn't navigated quickly.

I was sitting at a red light, and when the light turned green and i accelerated, the car would not move with moderate throttle. i had to floor the throttle to move, and the engine rpm jumped to about 6000. the car would not shift, either automatically or through the "manual" function on the gear selector. over the next 1.5 miles, i noticed smoke in the rear view mirror and a burning smell. i pulled the car over and noticed smoke from the hood and a trail of automatic transmission fluid from the car. car was towed to a transmission shop and i was told that the transmission cooler line running to the radiator had ruptured due to corrosion. transmission cooler lines and radiator had to be replaced.
