Tl*the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. while the contact was driving 60 mph using the cruise control the vehicle suddenly accelerated from 60 mph to 70 mph without warning, in order to stop the acceleration the contact had to deactivate the cruise control. the contact also noticed that whenever she applied the brakes they hesitate to engage increasing the stopping distance. the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealership and there were no prior warnings, the current and failure mileages were 2000. updated 4/5/10 *cn

Toyota corolla s 2010 [xxx] with extra stabilizer bar kit, purchased 11-30-09 with delivery in 12/09. 1) approximately 1 month after purchase ,the car starting to veer sharply right then left when driving on the highway, it was/is difficult to control requiring a tight grip on the wheel. it feels like strong winds are moving the car but winds are absent and road conditions are normal. this event comes and goes unexpectedly, generally lasts the duration of my commute once started, sometimes occurs with the tire pressure gauge but not always, sometimes occurs after rapid braking. it does not feel like an alignment or balance problem, the car darts from one end of the lane, to the median of the lane on its own. on this date 2-24-10 my local dealership filled the tires, and made a slight change to the left alignment they could not duplicate the problem and stated "this could be a matter of personal preferences" regarding how i felt the car drove when this occurred. the toyota manager also told me today that they understand "there could be a problem but they have no direction on how to repair it." when asked then if he could guarantee my safety and that this would not occur again he stated no, but there was nothing for him to do. no injuries to date. i do not feel toyota is making reasonable efforts to quickly eliminate this problem, acknowledge a problem, and do not wish to resolve this with statements regarding my personal preference for the drive, and since this in their opinion is not reproducible for them it is not a viable problem for them to repair. 2) on approximately 2-11-10 i had to use my brakes in an emergency situation in which my brakes were temporally non-response. i had to downshift the gears, remove my foot totally from the gas pedal ,and maneuvered the car away from the other stopped car. no abs was felt, the brake pedal was depressed fully, this occurred at hwy speeds. no acknowledgement of problem or remedy proposed by toy currently. *tr

I have 2010 toyota corolla (vin# [xxx] ) purchased on oct 31 2009 from sansoneautomall, nj. there is a problem with the steering column initially which started with some unique sound, then from feb 2010 i was seriously facing steering freeze (will get harden) only 15-20% of steering moves when in 0' speed, for this i have visited my dealer service center 3 times but there is no use. only with lot of disappointment and arguments saying "what is the reason to buy a brand new car to get problems" i was requesting to solve my problem. they simply said, there is nothing we can do if you have no other mean to commute its upto you and if you want you call toyota head quarters for this. i even spent lot of time in calling main toyota nr but simply i get voice message that "there is huge volume of call waiting please wait". i really wonder when i/anyone buy a car from dealer and if they cannot receive me assist me properly "where from i get the justice????". recently i found two more new problems they are: in a slope road car picks-up acceleration and maintains speed as if it is cruised and once i apply break after a while the speed comes to normal position other prob- fuel indicator stuck up to full level indi' even the fuel is low. with this i'm day by day getting depressed as i spent quite lot of savings (money) on the car to avoid any hassles buying a used car, but unfortunately its a disaster to me. i request to provide me needed solution to fix my depressing situation. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I own a 2010 toyota corolla, which my 19 year old daughter drives, which is involved in the gas pedal recall. she also describes an steering problem -- difficulty keeping the car from veering, has to hold steering wheel tight to keep it straight, describes it like car is sliding on ice. when i asked our toyota dealer service dept advisor about it he said to check the tire inflation. i now see that this is a complaint from others. i am concerned that this car is not safe for her to drive! she drives it to and from college on interstate 95 and says this problem occurs at all speeds, especially 45 and over. *tr

2010 toyota corolla. consumer states unintended sudden acceleration *tgw the consumer stated she crashed into a wall at a very low speed. *jb the consumer stated toyota refused to share the drivability report which was performed on the vehicle. toyota wrote the consumer a letter stating there were no defects. updated 10/20/11.*jb

As i was coming downhill on steep mt. helix and stepped on the brakes, the car accelerated instead of reducing the speed, at that moment i could clearly hear the rotation actually increasing. i had to press it harder and control the wheel to get it to reduce the speed. this has happened 3 other times while driving downhill in the 2 months i have owned this 2010 corolla. the next morning i took my car to the dealership and waited for about 1 hour for the car to be inspected and the pedal accelerator recall issue fixed, but the service staff told me that the brakes were fine and they had run out of the recall parts. they could not give me a time table when the parts were going to arrive. i also contacted 2 other dealerships later that day, and the only answer i got was that " we were all in the same boat", nobody knew when said parts were expected to arrive. *cn

My toyota 2010 corolla has been recalled once and the toyota dealer said that they did something on the brake, but i told them the problem with my new toyota 2010 corolla is the noise sound whenever i push the accelerator pedal. especially whenever i push the accelerator pedal it makes a bell sound. i reported to toyota dealer 3 times and they said it is air sound. i am not engineer but i think i know what is difference between air sound and bell sound. now the toyota sent me and said that another possibility of recall on the accelerator pedal. i think there is a real problem on this car. i am scare driving the new car. what can i do? i asked the toyota dealer and they said that "nothing we can do." in terms of safety, i really concern this is not justmy problem but our citizen's safety problem. the worst thing is when i drive on the high way. it is like almost 15 years old car. the sound like a cracking and i really does not want to drive my new toyota 2010 corolla on the high way. now they just sent me a memo and it said that there is a possibility of recall on the accelerator pedal problem. what can i do? *tr

On 27jan10, i drove home and parked the car under the carport before an ice storm hit oklahoma with no issues. on friday 29jan10, i had to move my car to shovel the snow from the driveway and the car would not start. i made sure everything (defroster, fan, etc) were off and tried again. it wouldn't start and sounded like the engine was almost starting but not quite. i tried a 3rd time and it finally started. all three attempts were several seconds long. the dashboard would not light up and after about 5 seconds, it finally lit up but the engine check light and vsc icon light were on and the vsc off light was flashing. i let it warm up for a while and the lights still did not go away. i moved the car to get the snow out of the way and parked it in the same place again. the following monday, 1feb10, i drove to work with the same 3 lights lit up on roads that had some ice. i fishtailed in two intersections and i've felt the vehicle speed control kick in on wet roads last year but it never kicked in that day so i know for a fact that i did not have vehicle speed control. i drove to work and fired off an e-mail to the local dealership but i could not come in until wednesday 3feb10 and by then, the lights went away on their own. they did, however, find a code and they told me that it was a "camshaft timing" code or something of that sort but the original code that caused the engine check light to come on was already kicked out of memory. this was the first and only time this ever happened. the dealership reset the code for the camshaft timing code but nothing else was done except record it in my file at my request in case it happens again. i did some research and found that some people have had this problem come up when it's cold and wet. for your information, the oklahoma mesonet site says that the high/low temperatures are: 27jan10 66f/43f, 28jan10 46f/28f, and 29jan10 25f/19f. we had rain at first, then sleet, then snow during that period. ...

Extremely worried after the news regarding the sudden acceleration of toyota cars. i purchased toyota corolla 2010 recently and i am asking if i have the right to return it since toyota didn't solve the acceleration problem yet and halted the sale of corolla 2010. this car is the only car we have and whenever i am driving it now i am so worried about my kids and my family being in a car that may have acceleration problems at any time. also, i have another concern that my car jump fast after each stop and the break response should be faster. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla le. while driving approximately 85 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated to 95 mph. the contact was able to depress the brake pedal and shift into neutral gear which allowed the vehicle to slow down and stop. the failure occurred twice. the second failure occurred when the floor mat became wedged against the accelerator pedal and would not stay mounted to the floor. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where a reinforcement bar was installed in the accelerator pedal; the floor mat was also taken out. the repairs were performed according to recall 10v017000 (vehicle speed control, accelerator pedal). the current mileage was approximately 11,200. the failure mileage was approximately 9,000. updated 08/03/10

I had an accident on january 27th 2010 , i have a toyota corolla 2010 with faulty accelerator pedal(recalled) my car bought on december 13 2010 from toyota dealership. i was pulling my car from my garage as usual very slow holding my foot on the brakes but this time suddenly my car accelerates so fast that the next thing i knew i was in garage door of the house across the street. i was unable stop the car immediately even after i pressed the brakes very hard. by the time it stopped the car broke the garage door of the house across the street. luckily nobody was injured. along the way the car brushed off the bumper of another parked unattended car and sheared off the license plate. license plate was damaged, the bumper was scratched. my car was damaged and my farmers insurance paid for repair of my car and car parked on the street. the owner of the house needed to use her car parked in her garage urgent and told me to repair garage door immediately. same day the new garage door was installed by garage master inc. garage door was broken beyond repair. i paid immediately by check to the garage co. i also paid for door painting. i reported this accident to the dmv. i was able to reach toyota customer experience line only in two days on january 29. finally i was informed that my car has a faulty accelerator pedal. case manager told me inspection will be scheduled soon. my case number #1001151635 . since the accident i am not driving this car for safety reason. it has been parked in the garage since february 8. i am requesting compensation for all my expenses. but toyota told me to wait for an inspection as they are very busy. today is march 5 and nothing has been done by toyota only words and promises. they are not returning calls. i asked for the e-mail of the case manager - e-mail only for local usage refuse to provide email please help as soon as possible thank you. updated 03/17/10

While driving a 2010 toyota corolla le the steering wheel unexpectedly jerked away from my control. in addition, the power steering and braking system is making strange sounds, such as hissing, pings and cracks. i took the car to toyota dealership and mechanic stated it is probably the electrical system. he also stated that toyota will probably recall car due to complaints with powersteering. due to the above issues and recent recalls on my car, my wife and i don't feel safe and secure in car. we are scared of dying like other toyota owners have in the past. we would like a full refund of $17, 209.97 from toyota motor sales usa. *tr

I was driving a rental 2010 toyota corolla in siesta key, fl. i came to a stop on a busy downtown street on a friday night. as i sat at a complete stop with my foot on the brake as pedestrians were crossing, the car unexpectedly accelerated forward. i did not have my foot on the gas pedal & as this happened, i held my foot firmly on the brake to avoid hitting the pedestrians. luckily, i was able to hold the car back until the acceleration ended. this happened before the problem with toyota acceleration was made public. i reported this problem to the enterprise car rental agency in port charlotte fl, where i rented it, but they did not seem concerned. it wasn't until a week later that this story was in the news. i called the nhtsb to file a complaint, i'm filing this complaint again after hearing the gov't response to the study of this problem. from personal experience, i know for a fact this is not correct. this car i drove did not have the pedal stick or floor mat problem. it definitely accelerated completely on it's own without the pedal being depressed. if needed , i may be able to locate the vin from my rental receipt. *tr

On 2/8/10 toyota performed a recall repair of the gas pedal on my 2010 toyota corolla. after the repair was finished, i noticed that the engine idle speed was higher and the vehicle took longer to stop when the brakes are applied. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla le. while sitting idle in the parking position, the vehicle momentarily lunged forward. while traveling at various speeds as low as 50 mph, the vehicle would veer to the right. also, the keyless remote, which also acts as a vehicle locator, would only operate intermittently. often, the vehicle locator alarm would go off on without driver input. the dealer advised changing the batteries in the keyless remote. that did not correct the failure. the dealer then attempted to reprogram the keyless alarm sensor and advised the locator could only be used for short-range locating. no further repairs were performed on the vehicle. the failure and current mileages were approximately 6,300. the consumer stated the brakes did not perform as designed. updated 07/19/10*jb

2010 toyota. recall *tr

Driving a rental 2010 corolla in tucson. as i was braking to a stop at traffic light, the car suddenly surged ahead. fortunately i was far enough from the vehicle stopped in front of me to stand hard on the brake and bring the car to a stop. scary!!. floor mats were properly secured and no where near the pedal area. never experienced anything like this before. toyota has a problem way beyond floor mats. *tr

Toyota corolla le 2010 did not respond to brakes properly for 100 feet when slowing from 10 mph at intersection. road was slightly damp but not frozen or slippery. abs & vsc lights went on brakes ground so loudly as i applied more pressure, it sounded as though they'd break off. 2 toyota service depts have dismissed my concerns saying the roads must have been worse than i thought. i've been driving for 35 years and have never experienced this kind of out of control vehicle. i believe there is something in the chip or software or complete brake/vsc/gas pedal combo. very concerned toyota gas pedal fix is not the complete culprit. *tr

Steering and gas throttle problem. sometimes having difficulties steering the vehicle straight and it feels like you 're not in control with the wheel. even sometimes at lower speed. regarding gas throttle there are times that the gas pedal is not responding while you are steeping the gas pedal. it's like driving on a neutral gear. we have not reported the steering problem but we have reported the gas pedal issue twice to the dealer. it so happen that the 2nd complain we did was the time they started doing the recall. gas pedal where change as the recall required.the steering problem is now a newer concern for us. we have experienced the problem with steering before but we just ignore it. because it's been raining in our area during the fast few weeks. we where thinking that the roads are just wet and somewhat it is slippery to drive but even the weather had changed we sometimes experienced the same problem with the steering. last encounter with the steering problem is today(02/20/2010). *tr

Problems with our toyota corolla steering does not feel right brakes are not right accerator pedal recall i have called toyota and i get no reseults from my problems. my wife does'nt feel safe driving this car. i want toyota to take this car back.they have told us no way.car has only 6,000miles on it. *tr

In november of 2009 i purchased a new toyota corolla sport and within 2 days noticed the tachometer racing even when the car was in neutral. i also noticed that when i would take my foot off the gas and press in the clutch the tachometer would accelerate as much as 2000 rpm and stay there. i have taken my car back to the toyota dealership where it was purchased three times in 2009 and once in 2010 regarding unexplained acceleration. even when i am not in the car and the car is idling all of a sudden the engine suddenly accelerates from .6 on the tachometer to 6.4 on the tachometer. the dealership says they can't replicate the issues and have advised me not to drive the car. when i took the vehicle in the last time i had 5 recording on my cell phone where you can clearly see the tachometer over 6,000rpm with no one in the vehicle. they have told me they can't help me at this time. i am concerned about how long this action will take as i need my car. *tr

Our 2010 corolla had a sudden acceleration problem while driving on the highway. the car was put on cruise control and shortly there after, suddenly accelerated to a frightening speed. the brake thankfully worked. we haven't used cruise control since. this was terrifying. the date is an approximation. we reported it to our dealer and they just dismissed it. *tr

At speeds over 50 mph the 2010 corolla s has steering wander - does not hold center very well - constantly have to correct direction to keep it straight - gets tiring after a while - just figured there was nothing i could do about it so i just lived with problem until reading an article about the nhtsa checking into problem so i told [xxx] in service dept. at dry ridge toyota in ky. about problem ( oct - 2013 ) and he said he would check into it and see if toyota would offer a fix - no response from toyota after over 6 months its now ( may - 2014 ) i have checked back every month with [xxx] but he says still nothing from toyota - so im now filing this complaint with nhtsa .......... also the speed control jerks car very hard as it reengages while going up a hill sometimes approx. 25 mph to 45 mph ......... also the antilock brakes cause the front end of the car to jump up and down when trying to stop on slick rainy or snow roads at slower speeds. thank you. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

We have a 2010 toyota corolla. we bought it for our daughter to commute to college. it was purchased in may 2009 from freedom toyota in harrisburg, pa. after questioning her about any problems with the gas pedal, she said the 'stuck pedal syndrome' happened to her also this past fall. it was taken care of by a dealer in allentown, pa. she then also mentioned that the steering wheel 'jerks out of her hand' when driving. this has happened to her more than once. the dealer in allentown was told of this, along with the fact that she had a problem with her driver side window not rolling down when the switch was activated. this happened to her once. this dealer could not duplicate the 2 above mentioned other problems. i told her she is to document any future issues with this car. i am estimating the incident dates. she said they took place in the fall semester. i do not have the information available as to what her speed was at the time the steering wheel had a habit of jerking out of her hand. i do know that there is highway commuting involved along with non highway driving involved. *tr

Since obtaining the vehicle in 2009 brand new, upon breaking gradually, it surges forward slightly when it feels like it should slow down. i have brought this issue up to my local toyota dealership who denied any such inconsistencies. also, there have been electrical issues for the past few years when turning on the radio; after pushing any button at any time, it will randomly change the display to nonsense characters or become blank.

2010 toyota corolla. sudden acceleration *gr the consumer stated since purchasing the vehicle he has had two accidents due to sudden acceleration. the consumer stated he was backing out of his garage, when half way down the driveway, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. he applied the brake, but the vehicle did not respond. the vehicle continued to back up in the street and went across the road and hit a curb, where if finally stopped. there was no damage. the second incident occurred when the consumer was backing out of parking space, and the vehicle suddenly accelerated, but when he applied the brake, nothing happened. instead, it kept going until he hit a truck that was double parked behind him. as the consumer pu the gear into park, so he could talk to the owner of the truck, the vehicle continued to accelerate again, almost hitting the park vehicle in front of the consumer. as he repeatedly applied the brake to stop the vehicle, nothing happened so he forced the gear to park and turned off the engine and finally the vehicle stopped. the consumer stated his right wrist was a little sore from forcing the gear into park and he couldn't lift anything for a day or two. jb

I drive a 2010 toyota corolla. there is something wrong with the antilock brake system; especially if i am trying to apply the brake to slow the car and am making a right turn(even slightly turning right). it's like the brakes lock up and the steering gets like a mac truck. this also happens when i go over a bump and/or pothole. it most recently even happened when i was driving down the highway and there was a slight right curve in the road and i wasn't applying the brakes. i took the car into the dealership today and they could find nothing wrong. within an hour of leaving the dealership; it happened twice yet they couldn't duplicate the problem. i have a brand new car and am afraid to drive it. supposedly my car wasn't recalled for the gas pedal because it was made in japan but feel like the gas pedal is sticky at times. i am very upset because i just put all this money out and i have an unsafe vehicle to drive. my daughter and i were going to try and drive across country this summer and now we cannot possibly for we donot feel safe in this car. toyota should have to buy back the vehicles. i believe there is a much bigger problem causing all this that they are not admitting and/or have not found yet. i didn't complain or take the car back right away because i had similar problems with the scion xd and was told there was nothing wrong again and again. this is an ongoing problem. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 toyota corolla. the contact stated that when he depressed the brake pedal, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. the failure was intermittent. to stop the vehicle, he would shift into neutral and turn off the engine. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership about eight times but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. the contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint but was told that there were no recalls. the current mileage was approximately 17,000. the failure mileage was approximately 8,000....updated 02/11/15 *bf updated 6/11/2015 *js
