Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 16v340000 (air bags) and 09v338000 (service brakes, hydraulic). the part to do the repair was not available. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available. updated 01/25/2017*ct *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the brakes failed and caused her to crash into the rear of another vehicle. the contact sustained a fractured left hand and a police report was filed of the incident. the vehicle was destroyed. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 09v338000(service brakes, hydraulic ) but did not confirm if the vehicle was included in the recall campaign. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 78,000.

Prematurely failing: struts (repaired summer of 2013), water pump (repaired 10/15/13), brakes (repaired 10/15/13), and alternator (yet to be repaired). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the driver attempted to decelerate as the engine rpms increased rapidly. the contact mentioned that in order to stop the vehicle, the driver had to shift into neutral and engage the emergency brakes since the brake pedal failed to respond. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and the current mileage was 35,000.

At approximately 0600 on the above date i experienced a violent and near uncontrollable momentary disrupture of the abs/esc systems of my 2010 toyota corolla. vehicle shook violently, steering locked and abs and esc control lights on dash lit up while i was making the transition from ih37 south to ih35 south in san antonio, tx. i was able to regain control by letting off of the brakes and throttle thus coasting through the left hand turn and barely missing the retaining wall. this is not the first time this has happened, the first was only days after purchase of car. local dealer maintenance personnel stated "we can't find anything wrong with the car." during the warranty period the problem has been brought to the attention of mccollums toyota five other times all with the same "we can't find anything wrong" reply. complaints of soft brake pedal brought a similar "that's normal" retort each time the vehicle was in for service. after the warranty expired, front rotors and pads were replaced because they were found to have worn/groved approximately 1/8" deep per side (not reported by dealer), not from metal to metal contact but just wear from pads friction material. pads still had 1/2" of friction material on each. replacement of rotors and pads from auto zone made things better until now. request abs/esc software be checked on all 2008 to 2012 corolla/scion tc models along with check of materials used in pads and the rotors. oem rotors taken off car will be available until 15 jan 2012. 36,000 miles on a set of rotors and pads are a little extreme when i have over 125,000 on my gm's rotors and 165,000 on my ford's rotors with pads needing replacement around 45 to 55 k. *tr

When i purchased this vehicle, i immediately felt an awkwardness with the brakes. anytime i began to stop & the road was less than perfect, the brakes locked up & i seemed to slide to a stop. the feeling was almost like stopping on gravel or hydroplaning, just no control felt. when i complained about this, i was told that's how the new brakes are (i had previously owned an older vehicle) & the brake inspection found nothing. i have been in two mvas prior, once i was rear ended & the other time someone ran a stop sign & hit me. 10/12/11 i rear ended another vehicle & was also rear ended in the proocess. when i went to brake suddenly that day, the car slid into the vehicle in front of me. i am a very conscientious driver. i have always been told that when someone rear ends another vehicle, it is automatically their fault. i have since purchased another new vehicle, different manufacturer, and being told the toyota brakes were right, couldn't be further from the truth. 10/10/11 i had lab work performed & was diagnosed as being pregnant. this accident two days later, the airbags didn't deploy, either. the hood of the car came in through the windshield on me, the car has been deemed a total loss. there were two faulty toyota parts that failed me and my unborm child that day-the brakes and the airbags. i get to have surgery 10/28/11 to remove the now nonviable child from my womb. i equate this loss to the failures on toyota's part. *tt

last month, in june, i had a problem with my 2010 toyota corolla. i pulled out of a parking lot and was not going fast. i was approaching a steep hill and wanted to brake but i could not. in order to stop the car and avoid the hill, i crossed to the other side of the street into someone's lawn in order to give the car enough friction to stop. i ended up hitting a slope and the car stopped... but not from my brakes. since i was going very slow, no one in my car was hurt. one of the passengers in my car told me to try again. i drove the car around the lot and the brakes worked. it has been almost a month and toyota recently sent out a third party to inspect the vehicle. the car is currently sitting on my dealerships lot. they did not find anything wrong but i am absolutely sure that something is wrong because i pushed down on the brake the entire time before i hit the slope in the lawn. i am still waiting to hear an official response from toyota, the actual company. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact stated that while driving at low speeds and attempting to decelerate, the vehicle would not stop. as a result, the contact was involved in a crash in which she rear ended another vehicle. a police report was filed, but no injuries were reported. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, where they were unable to diagnose or duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the contact also stated that after operating the air conditioner, a foul odor was emitted into the vehicle. the vehicle was again taken to an authorized dealer, where they were unable to diagnose the failure, but the air filter was replaced. the failure and current mileages were approximately 13,000. the vin was unavailable.

I have made complaints do the dealership during multiple 5000 mile check ups on my brake grinding. when stopping on uneven surfaces or wet surface my brakes will periodically make a grinding noise which i can feel a vibration up through the pedal that shakes my leg. passengers can feel and hear these incidence as well. however, the dealership cannot duplicate this problem when the vehicle is being serviced and therefore they see no problem. on today's visit i have requested a brake system check which i was informed that the only thing they could find was the abs when pressing brakes hard. however this incident happens to me when i am coming to a slow stop not when drastically pressing the brakes. i was not satisfied with this and there was nothing more they could say but this is what it is and there's nothing they do about it. *tr

Purchased the car jan. 2011, within the first 2 weeks, i had the first experience with vibration in the brake pedal when applying on uneven surface. in addition to the vibration there is a hesitation in braking. this problem has happened multiple times, mostly on uneven surfaces. last week i had to stop suddenly for a deer and i really noticed how long it took to stop the vehicle. in addition, the noise (almost liking grinding) was very loud and the pedal vibrated. i have already taken the car back to the dealership and they assured me the brakes were fine. i have just made my second appointment. how do i ensure they fix this to proper safety standards? *tr

Grinding noise coming out of the front brakes due to warpage in the front rotors. *tr

I have a 2010 corolla with brake issues. whenever i go over a pothole or other bump at low speeds (under 25mph), the car makes a grinding 'metal on metal' noise. it feels kind of like tingling under your foot... similar to a pulse. the car 'jumps forward' a small bit before it slows down to a stop. i find the 'jumping' issue very unsettling. it is like the car accelerates slightly even though you are using the brakes and trying to slow. the major issue is that the car does not stop--the brake pedal feels disengaged while it grinds and pulses. i have had my car serviced and they tell me it is the abs and there is no problem. but obviously there is a problem and other people are having this issue as well. i have driven the 2005 corolla model, as well as other cars with abs brakes, and never encountered brake issues like this. i feel very unsafe in my 2010 corolla and honestly, may try to trade it in even though i've only had it a year and would be losing a lot of money. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact was driving approximately 35 mph when the brakes were applied but the vehicle did not stop until it crashed. the air bags did not deploy. a police report was filed. the driver suffered a serious injury. the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop where the contact was told that the brakes were not functioning. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 5,000. the vin was unavailable.

I have a toyota corolla 2010,i had it since june 2010, . i went through a major car accident on hw 1 ca @ 8:45 am on tuesday which was a sunny, clear , not foggy nor rainy day (weather condition was perfect),i was driving on 63 mph (normal speed is 65) on the fast left lane and suddenly i felt that the left front tire is veering the car into a different direction acting as if it below up (but it didn't) and my car is veering to the left , my steering wheel is locked and is not responding at all when trying to change the car directionto the right. there was no way to drive the car in a straight line. the steering wheel failed completely to respond to any attempt to turn it to the right in an attempt to gain control over the car and attempting to drive it in straight line. brakes as well were not responding. all attempts to stop the car or turn it to the right to avoid bumping the rails and keep it straight in the lane failed. i completely lost control over the car & it started fishtailing in the front. the car didn't stop until it bumped into the guarding rail, at this moment the car just stopped and it took the car more than 20 feed to automatically stop by it self. i failed to stop it.at this moment the car corrected its direction &went in straight line direction scrubbing against the rail completely damaging the entire left side of the car before it stall. then all the dash board lights and car sounds went on and the car stalled. the car was not in a drivable condition so i had to tow it away. i have a witness who described my accident saying that my car kept swerving to the left & was ambiguously uncontrolled, he was the one that took care of me after the car bumped the rail. this accident is a life threatening accident not only for me but also for others on the hw. i was lucky it happened on my way home after i dropped off my son to school ,the two car seats i had in the car were damaged, the car damage was estimated by $10,000. i suffer from ...

I bought a 2010 corolla s model in oct 15, within a month i have experienced a strange noise coming from under the vehicle, this happened when turning at low speeds and going over a speed bump at low speed i have less than 1,000 miles and have heard this noise three times. very concerned bought this vehicle new! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact stated that while the vehicle was in a stopped position, the brake pedal extended to the floorboard. on two occasions, the vehicle moved forward when the brakes were engaged. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the vehicle was designed to lose pressure and the brake pedal to fade. the dealer also stated that there was no remedy for the problem. another dealer confirmed that information. the failure mileage was 600. updated 01/24/11 *bf updated 04/21/11

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact stated the vehicle would not accelerate past 40 mph. the check engine and vsc service warning lights were illuminated. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where he was informed that the transmission failed. the dealer replaced the transmission. after repairs while braking from speeds of 50 mph, the brakes would not engage. the contact applied repeated pressure to the brakes and the abs engaged until the vehicle came to a stop. the failure continued to recur until the vehicle stalled. upon restarting, the vehicle resumed normal operation momentarily before the check engine and vsc lights illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where he was advised the new transmission had failed. the transmission was replaced a second time. the dealer advised that when the transmission failed, it caused the brake failure. the failure did not recur. the failure mileage was 1,550 and the current mileage was 1,740. updated 11/03/10. *lj updated 02/07/11 *bf

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact stated when depressing the brakes and releasing, there was an abnormal clunk noise. the noise had not caused a defect in the vehicle but the contact was concerned that in the future, the vehicle could possibly exhibit a braking failure. the dealer advised there were no failures within the braking system. the vehicle was not repaired. a failure did not exist in the vehicle but was noticed when the vehicle had only accrued 1 mile. the current mileage was unknown.

I was sitting at a stoplight with my foot on the brake waiting for the light to change to green when suddenly the vehicle surged forward into the back end of vehicle in front of me resulting in damage to my front end and very minor damage to other vehicle. no one was injured. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact stated when attempting to brake on a bumpy or uneven road surface, the brakes would grind excessively and would not stop the vehicle. the dealer where ran a diagnostic test and stated they could not duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure and current mileages were 4,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact stated when driving at approximately 55 mph, the steering wheel would not stay balanced in a straight line. the vehicle would veer in either direction. the contact stated the failure was worse when driving in snow or windy weather conditions. the dealer advised the vehicle was operating as designed. the failure persisted. the dealer test drove and was able to duplicate the failure. an investigator was sent on behalf of the manufacturer to further inspect the failure. the investigator performed a visual inspection and advised there were no failures. in addition, the contact stated the brakes would feel spongy and would often fall farther into the floorboard than normal. the contact would have to apply steady, repeated pressure in order for them to work properly. the dealer advised there were no failures within the brake system. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 500 and the current mileage was approximately 2,100.

I just received a recall notice from toyota concerning a 19 state recall of 'ssc 90h - certain 2009-2010 corolla and corolla matrix brake system vacuum port special service campaign". this notice advises (under "what is the condition"? "if the vehicle is operated under extremely low temperatures, there is a possibility that condensed moisture from a positive crankcase ventilation (pvc) port may seep into the brake system vacuum port ("port") and freeze. the port is located inside the intake manifold and provides vacuum assist for the brakes. should this condition continue, ice may slowly accumulate at the port and in the worst case, ultimately plug the port. as a result, power assist to the brakes would gradually decrease (eventually to zero), and the increased pedal pressure required could lead to greater vehicle stopping distances." "what should you do?" "if you believe that there is a possibility for your vehicle to be operated in the 19 specified states or in the conditions described above, please contact any authorized toyota dealer and ...." this description of the problem is very subjective ("possibility of condensed moisture...", "ice may slowly accumulate..."if you believe there is a possibility for your vehicle to be operated..." . i have already operated the vehicle in nevada (one of the 19 states listed). if this is really a safety concern i would think that all vehicles should be either a) fixed with the redesigned air intake connector or b) provide the vehicle with a safety warning sticker (placed prominently on the steering wheel?) that advises the driver that this vehicle has not been fitted with the redesigned air intake connector and that vacuum brake failure may occur whenever the outside temperature is below x degrees f (y degrees c) for periods greater than i hours. without specifics i don't know if i should receive this new part, and if i elect not to, how do i pass on the possible extended low temperature impact to future owner(s)? *tr

Since about a month after purchasing my 2010 toyota corolla in april of 2010 i have had several experiences with the brakes when stopping on multiple surface types, including wet road, uneven surface and under normal conditions. the brakes make a grinding sound and seem to skip as i push down, slowing my braking time and making me feel like i'm going to not be able to stop. the grinding was so severe that it vibrated though my leg. my vehicle is no longer under warranty however i did take it into the dealership while it was covered and they informed me that in order to repair it they would need to duplicate the problem while driving the vehicle. of course they weren't able to make it happen, did a brake inspection and said it was all just fine. shortly after this visit, the brakes did the same grinding when stopping as had happened before. i am a conscientious driver and treat my vehicle gently and there is no reason this should be happening to a brand new car. we need more attention placed on this problem and a recall must be issued before there are multiple casualties. also what i don't understand is how there was a recall for the 2010 corolla for a similar issue with the brakes but they excluded certain states that are in proximity to states where vehicles were recalled. how can they be sure other vehicles weren't affected? *tr

Purchased a 2010 toyota corolla used from a toyota dealer with under 5000 miles on the car. the third day i owned it the brakes began to make excessive noise. the car has been taken to three separate dealers all who fail to recognize or fix the problem the brakes sometimes shudder on uneven pavement or if braking on a slight curve. an official complaint has been made to toyota. the noise is excessive and loud and type of noise you would hear after 30,000 miles when in need of brake replacement. on the third visit to a dealer, a technician rode in the car and positively identified the noise. they then claimed to have taken apart the wheels/brakes only to claim there is nothing wrong with them and refused to replace the brakes under the existing warranty even though the problem has been reported since the vehicle was purchased. because the brakes make such a loud noise so frequently, it would seem the car may be unsafe to drive. also, although the car was purchased through the toyota dealer and as an owner i was registered with their online owner site, i was never informed of the latest safety recall, and didn't find out until the car was taken in a third time for the brake issue. the problem remains ongoing. *tr

When applying the brake pedal, sitting stopped in traffic, the brake pedal seems to fade away intermittently. you only loose about 1-2" of pedal height, but the car will start to roll forward if you do not notice it and apply more pedal pressure to stop the car. i am ase certified in brakes and it has a bad master cylinder. toyota states the this is a "normal" condition for this vehicle and refuses to warranty this issue. this vehicle has 4800 miles on it. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact was driving at approximate speeds of 20-25 mph and approaching a traffic stop. as he proceeded to accelerate from the stop, the vehicle would not respond. suddenly, there was an unusual increase in engine rpms and the vehicle abnormally accelerated at a rapid rate of speed. the contact placed the vehicle in neutral and engaged the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where repairs were made under nhtsa recall campaign id number 10v023000 (vehicle speed control: accelerator pedal). in addition, the contact stated when applying the brakes, he would hear a loud unusual noise. the dealer was unable to duplicate the brake failure and there were no further repairs made to the vehicle. the failure mileage was 3,865 and the current mileage was 3,904.

I own a 2009 toyota corolla with 19,000 miles. i am the original owner. i have taken the car in twice for a problem with the brakes. i have owned many cars but none have ever felt so unresponsive when you hit the brakes, especially in the event of a fast stop. the dealers tell me this is normal for vacuum assisted brakes. a brake pedal that goes almost to the floor when stopping and requires dangerous distances to fully stop is not normal, and if toyota has designed the system to function like this they have a bad design for a major vehicle safety function. the braking system in the 2009 toyota corolla may be a dangerous design flaw. you may need to evaluate this function of the toyota. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact was driving approximately 5 mph attempting to stop at a traffic light. the brake pedal was depressed followed by, a loud noise and jerking motion. an unintended acceleration occurred. the dealer was notified and stated that the failure was contributed to the weather and road conditions. the contact experienced the failures previously and was advised by the dealer that there was not a problem. an appointment was scheduled with the dealer for service repair. the failure mileage was 1,000. updated 06/02/10. *lj updated 07/13/10 *jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. while driving at speeds of 35 mph, the contact abruptly depressed the brakes but the vehicle would not respond. the contact was able to stop the vehicle within moments. there were no repairs made to the vehicle. the failure mileage was 8,500 and the current mileage was 8,600.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact stated the vehicle was serviced at the dealer under recall campaign (nhtsa campaign id number 09v338000: service brakes, hydraulic: power assist: vacuum). ten days following the repair, the contact was driving at speeds of 25 mph and when applying the brakes, they did not engage. the vehicle proceeded to crash into the rear of another vehicle. there were no repairs made to the vehicle. the contact was awaiting an investigation of the failure by the manufacturer. the failure and current mileages were 7,500.

Approximately one week ago, my 2010 corolla surged forward approximately 6-8 feet after i placed in park in my work parking lot. the tachometer went to above 2000 rpms, and the cars speed went over 20 mph before i was able to jam on the emergency brake. my foot was not on the brake or the gas pedal. i almost hit a tree. my head was thrust backwards. three hours later the paramedics had to come to my office and rush me to the hospital as i had a tia as a result. this is the third acceleration incident with my vehicle since february 12th. the dealership has even had a specialist look at my car, and they said nothing is wrong with it. i brought the car back to the dealership today because of the above incident. the general service manager said to me quote unquote "we can find nothing wrong with your vehicle, and can not verify your complaint. you have brought the car to us four times for this same acceleration problem and there is nothing wrong with your car. we have not charged you any of these times. if you bring it to us again for the same problem, we are going to have to bill you for our time. they also charged me for the rental car today. he also stated that the media is blowing this way out of proportion, and that there is nothing wrong with any of the toyota vehicles. he said the problem is one of two things. i asked him what those two things were. he stated that they are the drivers are bad drivers and the other is it is fraud. so i said are you implying i am a lier or a bad driver and he refused to answer. i then said i am neither of the two and that i resented the implication to both. i told him my car is a death mobile and unsafe to drive, and also that i had been hurt 3 or 4 times already.

Tl*the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact stated that when she driving in the city at 30-40 mph, the vehicle would downshift when she took her foot off the accelerator pedal; it would slow down as well as if the brake pedal was being depressed. also, the contact noticed that when she attempted to brake, the abs would suddenly activate. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership three times for the downshifting problem but the dealer stated that the problem was normal. the vehicle was taken to the dealership for the braking problem but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. the current mileage was approximately 5,400. the failure mileage was approximately 50.

In trying to stop a 2010 toyota (with a manual transmission) the brakes had a metallic rattle as they engaged, then almost immediately they became dis-engaged causing the car to move forward about five feet before re-engaging and stopping the car. during this event the brakes had been applied at all times and the clutch depressed. *tr

In my 2010 toyota corolla xle with 2382 miles on it, i experienced brake failure and difficulty steering while descending down a slight grade. there was no braking action when i pushed the brake pedal as far as it could go. simultaneously heard a loud scraping sound and detected an odor. reported incident to the dealer immediately. *tr

I drive toyota corolla ls 2010. i was driving to work today approximately with 45m/h. i was getting ready to take an exit from the highway, i saw couple cars were stopped in the middle of the exit approximately meter away from me. i decided to reduce the speed and getback to the highway(to get around them so i can take my exit. i hit my brake slightly to slow down my car did not even change speed, i tried couple times nothing happened. then i decided to step on the brake all the way my car did not change the speed at all it was going at the same speed. my car was traveling straight road for 7-8 seconds, then i had to make a quick decision so i will not hit the cars that was onfront of me(they were stopped in the middle of the road for some reason) because i was getting too close. i decided to get back to highway so i willnot hit anyone. but after i tried to get back to the highway i totally lost my control of the car. the car moved with no control for several seconds then i and up in the middle of the highway. i was lucky everyone was behind me and they stayed away from my car. i just took my car to be fixed from the sticking acceleration problem. i believe my breaks did not worked at that point and my car was moving with the same speed . afterward i was able to move my car and my brakes were working. i am worried to drive that car. i do not feel safe. i could of hurt the lady and her kids that were behind me. *tr

Driving 2010 toyota le on highway, turned off highway, turned to off ramp as power steering allowed car to veer to the left side of the highway. as the car approached the stop sign, the foot brake was applied, and felt spongy and the car suddenly veered to the left side of the road and came to a stop facing oncoming traffic which could have caused an accident. contacted the dealership that told me to bring the car in for inspection. an appointment was made for today. *tr

My 2010 toyota corolla often makes a loud noise coming from under the engine compartment along with friction onto the brake pedal, sometimes it occurs when driving over rough or bumpy roads or when braking in emergency (hard braking). dealer says they have checked the car and have been unable to recreate the problem the two (2) times i have had it checked. *tr

Since purchasing this car, the brakes have "locked up" occasionally. we took the car to toyota to have this checked last week; they performed two recalls and stated that the car was driving properly. since then, the brakes have locked up twice. i liken it to how your car feels when there is low traction - but the low traction light does not come on and i am not driving on ice, gravel, etc. i am always on clear asphalt. the car makes a "metallic humming" sound and the brakes lock up for approximately 4-5 seconds, during which time i cannot stop. luckily, 90% of the time when this happens, there is no one in front of me; however, last week i was driving in downtown pittsburgh and i slid into the intersection. *tr

I am filing this report to have documentation for my records. it is on my 2010 corolla now having complete brake failure issues. it started on feb. 21,2010. the brakes started to go completely to the floor. on february 24, the brakes went completely to the floor at a 5 way intersection, and i went through a stop light. i could not stop the car. that same day i went through a stop sign and had to jam on my emergency brake, so i didn't go onto a major traveled route in vermont. this is the same problem i reported to the nhtsa on 12/12/09. the odi number is 10295431. i would like to know what was done with that complaint? did it ever get forwarded to mr. toyodo himself, congress (for the hearings?). i had complete brake failure issues for over 14 months with my 2009 corolla. what did you do with that information? the only recall i saw was for the prius? what a joke! now my 2010 corolla has complete brake failure. again toyota gets away with covering up their mistakes, and your agency does nothing. the same as covering up the new pedal recall not correcting the issue of acceleration (my odi number for this is 10314851). i have all my records and am showing them to the media (national & local). i am stating below the incident date for my current car brake failure issues is february 21st. i am however stating injuries and reported to the police. i had an acceleration incident on january 18, 2010 with my 2009 corolla . during the incident i had complete brake failure and was injured. i did report it to the police. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. while stopped at a stop sign the vehicle rmp went up to 3,000 she had to park the vehicle for a while for it to slow down. she had experienced these failure several times. the contact stated that a few weeks after she purchased the vehicle she noticed the brakes were slow to respond when she drove 35 mph over speed bumps or any holes. she took the vehicle to the dealer twice. the dealer stated the vehicle had been test driven and they could not duplicate the failures. the failure mileage was 10,000 and the current mileage was 12,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. whenever the contact applied the brakes, she noticed that the brake pedal had to be pushed to the floor in order to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the vehicle was working properly. the current and failure mileages were 2500.

The car was taken into the dealership on february 15 by me and i reported the car pulling to the right as into traffic if i was in the passing lane when the brakes were applied. the manufacture kept the car for two hours, returned it to me claiming something in the brakes were not lined up, but claimed the problem was fixed and the brakes had been "lubricated". february 17, 2010 the brakes released after being applied to avoid hitting a car ahead of my car who had slammed on their brakes. i reapplied the brakes and heard an extreamly loud noise comming from my corolla, then the brakes caught and i was able to slow down enough to avoid hitting the car and finally stopped. *tr

Multiple incidents... the three most recent occurred on 2/8, 2/10, and 2/15 of 2010. this problem has been happening since we purchased the car, i figured it was just because it was a new vehicle and needed driven (broken in) so the brakes would find their best working levels. the problem occurs when driving, at any speed, and in all road conditions. the incident on 2/8 my wife was driving and only going about 5-8 mph. as she made a turn the car proceeded to shutter and the low traction light again came on, no braking was available during this incident, but luckily she was able to come to a stop before hitting another vehicle. on 2/10 i was going to take this car to finally have them fix the problem and in (very safe) good driving conditions i experienced what my wife had explained that the car has been doing for the better of 6 months. as you proceed to come to a stop the car accelerates upon depressing the brake pedal. when this happens (i have tested this) if you keep the pedal at the same point the car will continue to speed up slowly, but if you take your foot off the brake the car seems to maintain the speed. now this is where my wife will not drive the car any longer, when you press the brake further down to stop it locks the tires for about a second before the abs even kicks in. being that this is a cold area and we likely have snow during the winter months i am amazed that if any other corolla are having this problem they all have not slid off the road. when i experienced this problem on 2/10 i was going to take it to toyota for service. never made it, did not trust the vehicle to safely get me to my destination without injury to myself, others, or property. the last incident on 2/15 was the same problem, and at this point my wife will no longer drive the car. this is the vehicle we purchased to keep our newborn safe... looks to have been a poor choice. i finally risked my life and took it to toyota tonight, we will see what comes of this. thanks *tr

While traveling at about 50 mph the gauges went instantly from 50 to 0. at the same time multiple warning lights came on the dash. the car still had power when stepping on the gas, lights and radio were still on. when attempting to turn to get off the road, then steering wheel clicked and locked. there was no steering. my brakes did work. it was as if the car had shut itself off and then back on, but didn't unlock the steering. the car was new with less than 300 miles on it. this was the first incident of this kind, i had no other problems with the car until then. the car was towed to the local dealership. it was tested the next day & i was told it was a speed sensor, but the sensor was not replaced. they connected it to the computer and reprogrammed it and said it was good to go. i refused to accept it until they could tell me why it happened and what they had replaced to guarantee it would not happen again. they were unable to do so and ended up replacing my car with a new one. *tr

i am having a major problem with my brakes in my toyota corolla 2010 vehicle it has less then 5,000 miles and yet the brakes have to be practically pushed to the floor to work, they seem to be not working properly , especially on ice cold days. i almost had an accident and let me tell you i am a very cautious driver and am scared that eventually my brakes will not stop and i will be killed or worse yet kill another person by hitting them with my car. i noticed a recall back in august about the same issue but not for cars sold in pa. it gets very cold here too. they should have recalled all of these vehicles before their are lots of deaths. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. while the contact was driving 60 mph using the cruise control the vehicle suddenly accelerated from 60 mph to 70 mph without warning, in order to stop the acceleration the contact had to deactivate the cruise control. the contact also noticed that whenever she applied the brakes they hesitate to engage increasing the stopping distance. the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealership and there were no prior warnings, the current and failure mileages were 2000. updated 4/5/10 *cn

I purchased a new toyota corolla in jan 2010. i took it to the dealer for gas pedal recall in the first week of feb. after that i started facing brake issues. one day my car moved few inches back on uphill in spite of me applying the brakes. i called the dealer right away. they refused to take a look the same day as they did not have time. next morning the brakes failed again when i was driving downhill resulting in me hitting the car infront. i again took my car to the dealer. after test driving they tell me that they can not repro the problem. the issue with the brake is an intermittent one. it does not always happen, but when it does it is very dangerous. *tr

I was driving slowly cause of snowy conditions, i applied the brakes gently starting almost 20 -30 ft before reaching the vehicle in front of me, to make a stop but there was no response and the car just rolled on to hit a ford suv. with the brake fully depressed i was almost 10 feet away from the vehicle in front. no one was injured. the car did not swing or skid, it went straight. my car front bumper and hood was damaged. this is my first accident in my driving career. i took my car to the dealer, and lodged a complaint with toyota. *tr
