When i am driving my 2010 toyota corolla s on the highway at speeds of over 50 mph it does not stay straight. it requires alot of strength to keep it straight. it feels like the car is being moved to the right or left by winds. feels very unsafe to drive. the steering wheel is so stiff to turn sometimes. i have done the wheel alignment several times and put on new tires recently but the problem still remains. very unsafe to drive and i get very tired after driving at highway speeds just maintaining in my own lane. the dealer's are not much helpful at all with this. i've read online alot of people having problems with this make and model with the steering. there needs to be an investigation on this soon because it's very dangerous to drive.
Takata recall. i have a recall on 2010 toyota corolla's airbags
I was driving my car yesterday and as i went to accelerate the car didn't move so i pushed the gas pedal again and it went real slow. then the car jerked and began to smoke really bad so i pulled over and open the hood and flames began to shoot out.
Car would start then driving at 10mph the car stalls and the dash lights illuminate the dashboard. put the car in park and restart with no problem but if somebody was behind me it would've caused an accident. last week car did the same thing except i the car was in motion towards an intersection from idle and had to quickly put it in park and restart it and move it before i would've been involved in a deadly accident.

Nothing yet but these recalls, one for the electric window master switch, well over a year old, and the other for the passenger side airbag, where i'm cautioned to not have passengers in that front seat, which is really inconvenient and means i don't have full use of my own automobile, has been out long enough that a fix is long overdue. why the delay and why does the government do nothing for consumers who paid for these cars but with some not insignificant defects. i would like my car fixed, both the master switch for the windows and the passenger side airbag that could fail to deploy.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact stated that the srs warning indicator remained illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v34000 (air bags). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 67,000. the vin was not available.
The driver door caught on fire while i was driving.
Please note: problem with the engine. engine light come on a lot, but when i had it checked, they could not find out why it continue to come on.
Takata recall for almost eight months my car horn has not been working. i cannot inspect it without the car horn working! no one will touch it! it's like my car has a disease and no one wants to be corrupted or something. i saw on a tv program called fraud squad about how when a airbag is deployed some components in and around the airbag are affected to the point of failure. i've only had the car two years and the most important thing, the inspection/registration sticker cannot be had! i feel very much let down by the dealership i acquired this car from. i got it from fort bend toyota in rosenberg. it's gonna take me many years to pay this car paid off and already i may have to jury rig it and void every warranty ever. my warranty went out, they asked me to re-up it, i didn't, and boom, i'm screwed! where can i go to get help with this? i am lucky i have not been ticketed yet. updated 01/25/2017*ct
Takata recall steering column power window
1. weather stripping will not stay on driver door 2. cd player of radio system was throwing out the 6 cd's as driving- replaced stereo. 3. under 70,000 miles- cv joint went out - replaced. prior to replacement loud clunking sounds and steering difficult- other owners same issues i am reading. needs recalled 4. appx 77.000 miles no warning alternator went out and was extremely hot and smelly-replaced. 5. appx 78,000 miles between 25-35 mph transmission keeps slipping. i was driving down a street and once on interstate it hit the other gear hard/clunked- toyota dealer called toyota and they said replace transmission. currently in the shop. called toyota and filed a case- they respectively understand my concern, however, they did not seem concerned of the safety hazard of this issue and probability of this issue causing a death. i have friend same issue and i have read about this same issue on the internet. there needs to be a recall. luckily it did not go out on me driving on the interstate going 70mpg. scared of the vehicle and distrust competency of toyota. are they unwilling to admit the transmission problem is a safety issue? needs recalled or investigated please help the consumer. i am worried about others safety.
The car battery keeps dying on this vehicle even though the battery has been replaced and checked multiple times. the dealer claims a ground cable on the underside is corroded and "fixed" it- but the problem still occurs. my guess is this is a design defect. it's scary to drive a car that might leave you stranded every time you turn it off. this has been ongoing for the past 6 months.
Driver side airbag light on need new ecu for airbag.
Horn failed to honk when needed. it did not work while vehicle was in motion on a highway, it did not work on a city street, it did not work parked in my driveway. the wire became separated and there was a void, the wire cover stayed intact until i removed the connector from the horn. i had to connect a new wire from the existing wire and reconnect to the horn. all is fine now.
Recall issued 9.2015 was incomplete....still waiting on a fix. recall 15v689.
When applying the brakes, my car will rev up. especially when i'm going down hill. another concern is that my car will make a 2-3 second rattling noise upon starting up. it only makes this noise once in a while and it is coming from the engine. another issue i'm having is the car's check engine light, track light and vsc off light coming on simultaneously on any rainy day and staying on for several days after it has stopped raining. i avoid driving at fast speeds when its rainy because obviously the car is very unstable. my driver side window wont open or close and very cold days and other days it makes a weird noise. i just bought this car used and it has about 79k miles on it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. the contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed and the brakes failed to respond without warning. the emergency brake had to be depressed in order for the vehicle to remain stationary in park. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 168,000.
I'm not 100% sure if the master switch window is part of the recall but my master switch was smoking and i felt like if i continued driving earlier it felt like my car was on fire. i could've lost control because my switch was literally smoking non stop. i was at the traffic light when it happened, luckily i was on the first line, i accidentally hit the window switch with my elbow and it started to smoke. i wasn't feeling safe so i called my insurance and i asked for a tow truck to bring my car to s nearest toyota dealer, i kept asking toyota dealer if this was part of the recall but they cannot answer me. i don't feel safe driving toyota because of this. i might switch my car with some other brands of i keep getting this kind of incident.

My son received his car today that was shipped to him from maui to portsmouth,va. as he was driving back to base his passenger side mirror fell off. the inside was melted. i have pictures of the mirror. this is a fire hazard. i contacted toyota via email about the incident. this car was purchased new and has only had routine maintenance. there is either a faulty connection or faulty part that caused this. i now worry that the car may catch fire. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 toyota corolla. while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle suddenly decelerated to approximately 5 mph. the failure corrected independently and the vehicle resumed normal operation. the contact indicated that prior to the incident, the vcs and check engine sensor lights illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the combination meter assembly needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was unavailable.
The car seems to increase in speed even when applying the brakes. the electrical system is not functioning properly. the digital display radio seldom works, the anti skid control does not activate, the lights, both inside and out blink on and off, including headlights at night. the ac and heating unit cuts on and off. it seems as if the entire electrical system in the car is in need of repair. *tr
I was driving my car down the highway going about 60mph and all of a sudden lost all engine power, with no warning, stutter, jolt or any sort of noise. i managed to coast to the shoulder but could not get my car to turn over and had to tow it away. obd code reader would not connect with on board computer. when cranking the engine there was no spark to the coils. *tr
2010 corolla main body wiring harness caught on fire. where it enters car through firewall. *tr
About a week ago my passenger side window wouldn't roll up. today, i stopped my car at a rest stop and my driver side door started smoking. the wafted up through the windows and the window controlled button. i had to turn the car off because it was getting out of control. i turned the car off. waited. turned it back on and the smoke came out instantly. toyota has had a recall on their camrys with the same problem. corollas need to be added to the list. i'm suck in another state with a car that can catch on fire at any minute it seems. *tr
2010 toyota corolla. consumer writes in regards to steering and other vehicle problems. *smd the consumer stated the skid light would come on at any time, even if she was driving slowly. when going around a corner, controlling the steering was somewhat of a problem. if it were snowing, or raining, the rear end would slide out to the point, the skid light would come on. there were times, when the vehicle would not start. *jb the consumer also stated she heard a clicking sound from the vehicle, then all of a sudden, the vehicle took off. the incident happened several more times. updated 11/13/14*jb
I stopped at a red light. several engine lights started blinking. when the light turned green, my car would only move very slowly. i was lucky enough to get through the light with oncoming traffic and then coast downhill to a residential area. i had just gotten off of a 4-lane divided highway. i had to have the car towed to my toyota dealership. they told me that my engine control module had short-circuited and replaced it in the next two days, the part # being 8966102f54. the car is running fine now. i'm scared though, that this might happen again, or that it could have happened at high speed, or that my teenage daughters would have panicked in the situation and may have been hit while going through the green light. thanks for your help. *tr

Prematurely failing: struts (repaired summer of 2013), water pump (repaired 10/15/13), brakes (repaired 10/15/13), and alternator (yet to be repaired). *tr
Two issues: radio controls fail; usually when outside temps near/above 100f. touching any control turns off radio, spits out cd. causes me to focus on radio instead of driving. dealer no help. seen the problem listed by others online inc. youtube video of the radio acting up. 2nd issue: just had to replace water pump, approx. 150,000 miles. appears there was some sort of recall but i did not receive any notice. replaced 7/16/16
I was driving to work when suddenly thick smoke started appearing from the driver's side power window switch. i immediately pulled over and got out of the car. the smoke had the typical smell of burning plastic and the front passenger window slowly opened on its own. after 5 minutes, the smoke stopped and i continued to my office as it was nearby. later in the evening, upon removing the switch, the melted plastic was clearly visible. one of the switches on the panel does not depress anymore due the melting of the plastic. the switch that does not depress is for the front passenger window and it has been open since friday july 19th because the problem has not been fixed yet. i am aware of a recall for the exact same issue however, it is for corolla models up to 2009 and since mine is a 2010 model, toyota refuses to address this situation. *tr
After starting the engine and driving approximately 100 feet, the dashboard lights: abs, anti skid symbol, battery and oil lamp appeared. lost power steering, windshield wipers ceased, it was raining heavily. drove approximately 6 miles to home. the next morning, car started without any issues, drove approximately 100 feet, the same lights appeared and power steering again ceased. able to drive approximately 5 miles to work. made an appointment with dealership for after work. car immediately started with the above mentioned lights appearing again and without power steering. drove approximately 2 miles, all power in car stopped, and car immediately stopped. was unable to restart car, car was towed to dealership, where the service member stated the car needed a new alternator. when asked why this would occur with only 25000 miles, the service department was unable to give me a response. the alternator was costly. i am the original owner, purchased this car in july, 2009. service my car regularly as suggested in manual at a toyota dealership. i am disappointed with needing such a costly repair as i have never experienced this in the past with other makes of cars. all of which i have owned for 8 to 10 years each. *tr

First, the trunk stopped opening from the inside. also, the vsc off light, check engine light, and traction light all came on at the same time while i was driving and i have no idea why. the gas cap was on tightly, the fuel levels were right, there was no need for an oil change, and the car is only 2 1/2 years old in which i did not do any wreckless driving. *tr
there was a sudden acceleration in my toyota corolla 2010 and hit a tree,i was driving 15 miles per hour at that time. when complained to toyota they investigated about 15 days ago but no conclusion was provided from toyota. i was injured but recovered already. please ask them why they are not providing any conclusion to me. .
As i was driving on hwy, i suddenly lost my power steering and i had power steering light, vsc and slippery car light cam on. from that point on i didn't have power steering, it was difficult to drive since it was hard to turn. thank god that i didn't get involve in wreck. when i took it momentum toyota dealer in tulsa and explained what happened, service advisor said that since it has almost 45,000 it is not covered under warranty. when i called to toyota customer service and express my safety concern, they said if it is concern that i need to get it fixed and pay out of pocket since it has about 45000 miles on it. i also informed them that it is well know issue on and there are alot of people having issue with power steering, he said i am sorry you vehicle is out side the warranty and we will not cover it. *tr
This vehicle uses a drive by wire (dwb) accelerator. when you press on the gas the car lurches forward. this happened on a rental car in 2010 and still is a problem on the used toyota i purchased. when i contacted toyota they stated there was no recall information. they asked me to have the vehicle diagonized at my expense, which i refused to do. this is a problem and based on information on the net others are having the same problem. i have owned many cars and not one has had such a touchy pedal. *tr
Takata recall. gas pedal becomes stuck with floor mat when car is in motion. we have had to remove floor mat for safety. removal of floor mat has caused wear and tear on floor board covering.
I have a 2010 toyota corolla with 1,900 miles on it, i purchased the veh in the middle of november. after purchasing the vehicle i began to notice that my right arm would collect static electricity when i would place it on top of the center arm rest/console. at first i would only get the static spark when i touched the metal frame of my door, then when i entered the vehicle i would once again collect the static electricity on my right arm from the center arm rest/console. i began to just not pay attention to the static build up i would get until yesterday december 29, 2010. i excited my vehicle and proceeded to open my gas compartment door, as i touched the compartment door, i received the static spark. now i am becoming concern because it happen when i touched the compartment door had it happened a few seconds later i could have been pumping gas. i drove to the toyota dealer near my home and was asked to sit in another 2010 toyota corolla and i also build up static electricity, then they had me sit in a 2010 toyota camry and nothing happened. clearly the type of material used on the center arm rest/console is causing this static build up on my arm. the material used in the camry is not causing this. the dealer told me that they didn't know of any static complaints. i would like to have someone investigate this, it isn't safe to go pump gas while having static electricity. i can show anyone who would like to see it how the hairs on my arm stand up once i touch the center arm rest/console. *tr
My 2010 toyota corolla continues to have acceleration issues. now it accelerates with the cruise control on to speeds over 100/110 mph. i had to drive my car from vermont to california, and used my cruise control for the first time. the speed limit was 75 to 80 mph in areas and i set the cruise control to 72. the next thing i new, the car suddenly lurched forward on its own & went completely out of control. it went to speeds of 100- 120 mph within 1-2 minutes and i could hardly control the car. i have been in 3-4 acceleration incidents with this vehicle already and been injured (the reports i have already filed with your agency this past year). this vehicle is going to kill someone. there is an electrical or engine problem with these toyotas, no matter what the nhtsa, the feds, or toyota states. it is not the way americans are driving ! don't insult our intelligence. how many more innocent victims have to get hurt. all we are asking is for toyota to take these cars back and replace them with a safe car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is what is fair to the consumer. that is what the lemon law is for. yet why does no one listen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *tr
My 07 toyota corolla s started stalling and the check engine light came on. the car started and was fine. the next day the same thing happened. when i went to start the car again stalled. i took the car to the dealer and they fit me right in even though they were busy, which i appreciated very much. this all happened at approximately 62,000 miles. luckily the car was still covered under 8 yr/80000 miles warranty. *tr
