We have classified the 198 complaints from 2007 Nissan Frontier about POWER TRAIN into the following categories.
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the transmission hesitated without warning. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 104,000. *tr
I was driving my truck on a two lane road at approximately 40 mph when the truck started to shake and shutter and would not shift properly. i was almost rear ended on a bend in the road because of the reduced speed i had to drive to keep the truck from shaking. i have researched my nissan frontier's transmission issue and it appears to be a cross contamination issue where the transmission cooler leaks allowing transmission fluid and radiator coolant to mix causing damage to the transmission. i have not driven the truck since the incident for fear of a total transmission failure which has happend to other nissan frontier owners causing them to be standed on the roadway. nissan seems to not want to recall the trucks for the cross contamination issue which i feel puts peoples lives in danger. *tr
Transmission failed due to radiator leakage into transmission fluid. just out of warranty! nissan claims powertrain warranty will not cover since it is a radiator problem which causes the failure. ----- leaking coolant causes transmission failure an alarming number of nissan xterra, pathfinder and frontier owners are stepping forward with stories about how cracked radiators are causing coolant to leak into the transmission. once mixed with the transmission fluid this lethal combination kills the valves, seals and torque converter -- rendering your entire transmission useless. this issue is currently contained to the 2005'2010 model years. some articles online claim that being aware of the proper warning signs may help prevent your nissan from needing a rebuilt transmission. these warning signs are: heavy vibration while shifting heavy vibration while accelerating abrupt stalling shuddering noises car doesn't warm up when sitting owners who have had their radiator crack are claiming that even if you catch it early, your transmission is still doomed trouble due to this engineering / manufacturing defect. you can read their stories over at carcomplaints.com for the three nissan models that are showing the defect: pathfinder: 2007, 2006, 2005 xterra: 2005, 2006, 2007 frontier: 2005. 2006, 2007 perhaps even more troubling is owners who have already had their transmissions "repaired" by an authorized nissan dealer are still reporting catastrophic transmission failure. through no fault of their own, nissan owners who are out of warranty are left to cover the hefty repair bill, which can be over $4,500 when all is said and done. *tr
After reading about previous complaints online and an investigation performed by nhtsa i think the transmission is leaking fluid into the radiator. what was the conclusion of your investigation? *tr
As i was parked at a service station, i put my truck into reverse and it was the same as neutral and never engaged. this is a very common, but not necessary, issue with the transmission on the nissan frontier. i almost blew up my engine last year when the radiator cracked and allowed transmission fluid to mix with the coolant and caused the temperature gauge to go way up. this mixture made its way to the transmission and has caused irreparable damage; undoubtedly, this is why i no longer have reverse. i replaced the radiator and flushed my transmission fluid three times last year and thought i may have fixed the problem. evidentially, the damage had already been done. this problem is very well known to nissan and, as a nissan frontier owner, i was never notified regarding this possible issue. i understand that nissan has agreed to settle with owners within a certain mileage range; however, my truck is only 5.5 years old and exceeds the mileage requirement because my occupation requires alot of highway time which has put alot of miles on it. i feel nissan needs to step up and take care of this problem with all owners of these vehicles before someone gets hurt or killed if it hasn't happened already. my truck is now rendered useless until i pay thousands of dollars to fix it. this should not be my problem at all!! *tr
2007 nissan frontier complaint . i am writing this on may 9, 2013. about a week ago my 2007 nissan frontier experienced slow acceleration. i put it in 1st and drove slowly for 1/4 mile then turned off the engine. when i turned on back on ignition, gear shift was locked. i unlocked manually and tried to start. nothing. engine will not crank. no lights on dash. i towed it my local mechanic who tried some electrical work. nothing so he thought a tranny failure put truck in failsafe. aamco could not start it so they could not diagnose. towed it to nissan of edison nj. they wanted to change tranny for $8000 new or $5000 used. too much money for a vehicle w/ 110000 miles. i towed it out to another transmission place and they first thought it was the starter! they changed the starter, nothing doing. of course jump start is not working so its not the battery. im now stuck. previously truck had stalled once on the highway at about 60000 miles and would only drive on gear #1. took it to nissan dealership. they said they couldn't find any problem with tranny but they replaced the transmission fluid. later at about 101k the transmission started slipping and nissan found that the antifreeze had leaked into the transmission. they wanted to give me $2500 toward a $7300 repair. they also offered to give me employee pricing on a new frontier but i dont want another frontier, so i refused and instead took it to my mechanic. he put in a new radiator and flushed the transmission. earlier at about 46000 miles, the fuel gauge stopped working and the fuel sender was changed. nissan refused to help at that time but later initiated a recall and compensated me for the expense. its been all pain with this truck which i bought "new" from a dealer with only 300 miles on it. help. *tr

i parked my truck and later tried to start it and it wouldn't. had it towed to one repair shop ($45.00 plus $75.00 to the repair shop) and they referred me to a transmission mechanic. so i had it towed there ($45.00) and he said that radiator fluid had leaked into the transmission. i've had the truck about 2 weeks before this happened. the estimate on repairs is $3,500. watch and see what god makes happen! *tr
Tl* the contact owns 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that coolant leaked into the transmission erroneously and caused the vehicle to stall. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where a diagnostic test was performed. the dealer confirmed that radiator fluid was leaking into the transmission. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact called the manufacture regarding the radiator leak and was advised that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. the failure mileage was 120,000. updated 01/09/14*lj
Vehicle began running poorly and stuttering between gear shifts. knew about the potential for the transmission and radiator fluid to mix and destroy the engine from the lawsuit that was filed and correspondence we had received from nissan. sure enough, took the vehicle to a nissan dealer and an independent car shop and both diagnosed the same thing - radiator and transmission fluids mixing. no option but to get it repaired for a whopping $4,409.26. it is disgraceful that nissan will not formally acknowledge this defect and pay for the repair bill no matter what your mileage. this was our first and last nissan. *tr
There is a known issue of the radiator leaking fluid into the transmission causing transmission failure. nissan was involved in a class action suit where the warranty was extended to 80,000 miles but i was 2,000 miles over, so instead of them fixing it for free, i would have to pay a $2,500 deductible. i do not have $2,500 to spend on something that is a known issue. please let me know if there is any recourse for this situation. thank you. *tr
Truck started to shake when shifting into over-drive. took to dealership and found transmission fluid inside radiator. nissan has extended warranty up to 100k miles and no warranty over 100k (needs recall). nissan is aware of the issue that allows fluids to mix and create a premature failure of the transmission and radiator. dealer also stated that there is such high demand on the transmissions that they are on backorder for a month. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that the radiator was cracked and allowed coolant to enter the transmission. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the transmission and radiator would possibly require replacement but first, a diagnostic was required. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 101,000. *tr
At about 100,000 miles, i started noticing that on take-off and at about 40 mph, my frontier would struggle to takeoff or accelerate. when slowing down, if acceleration was needed, the rpms rev up, but the truck does not accelerate. at 40-45 mph transition, going uphill, the truck stutters like it doesn't know what gear to engage. i immediately looked online and found many complaints about the vehicle transmission having a slew of issues related to transmission fluid cooler leaks. i moved to drain the fluid so that i could inspect the color and composition. it was fine. i replaced the filter and fluid. let it break in for a bit and had same problems. i had 2 different lube shops replace the fluid and flush the transmission and the problems persist. i called up the dealer and they told me that a new transmission would cost 6800 + labor. he said it was very likely the fluid issue, but i was outside the warranty period. this is a design flaw that nissan knew about from the time they released these vehicles to the public. this is a safety hazard in the need of acceleration at a traffic light, train crossing and many others. i would like to request an investigation on the number of these vehicles being involved in accidents. my vehicle is a 2007 nissan frontier se, vin: [xxx]. my name is [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
The car was brought in for fluid changes since the car was nearly at the 100,000 mile mark. they explained the radiator had failed and caused the transmission to be contaminated. this car was brought in several times over the years and they never disclosed that this known problem can ruin a transmission. i paid 3000.00 to have the car fixed because i was in the 80-100,000 k mile range. this class action settlement is a bad deal for nissan consumers. we should have been notified that that this could happen. i would have gladly paid 600.00 to have the radiator replaced. its a good thing this happened while at the dealership. i understand that many people have been stranded. nissan knows this and fails to tell its customers. this is unsafe, and i think it should be a full recall. *tr
While i have not yet had a failure, or crash i have been notified by nissan that my truck's transmission may fail suddenly making the vehicle inoperable. this is a concern as i occasionally use the vehicle for commuting to work on the interstate highway system and fear i would be subject to injury or death if i have a sudden failure and there is no place to pull safely off the road. i also use the truck to go deep into the maine wilderness to fish and hunt and fear if the transmission fails, i could be stranded dozens of miles from the nearest help, putting my health and safety at risk. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle began jerking violently. additionally, the vehicle would not respond when the gear was shifted into reverse. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the technician advised the contact that radiator coolant was leaking into the transmission and both the transmission and the radiator would need to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired however, the abs and traction control warning lights were illuminated. the contact stated the neither of the warning lights were illuminated prior to the repair. the dealer was contacted and stated that the abs module also required replacing. the contact was advised to disconnect the abs system until the repair could be performed. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
trouble light came on, "vehicle needs service soon". attempted to drive vehicle to garage and engine would not start. shop indicate that there was coolant in the transmission fluid and the transmission and engine control module fuses had blown. nissan dealer said that transmission, radiator, transmission and engine control modules needs to be replaced. he is unable to start the engine and indicates that there may be necessary to do other repairs. the estimated cost of repairs at this point is $8500. *tr
The vehicle has the common problem of the radiator mixing engine coolant and transmission fluid causing the failure of the transmission. to me this is a safety issue. the dealers are of no help and neither is nissan. *tr
As i am driving, the transmission will not shift at 40 mph. i pull over and find out that it will not go into reverse, either. i drive over to the nissan dealership and find out that the part of the radiator that connects to the tranny has cracked and dumped all of the radiator fluid into the tranny, killing it. i need a new radiator and transmission. nissan is covering the costs (for repairs but not alternate transportation for the week that it is taking to fix this) but upon returning home and looking online, i found out that nissan has known about this problem for about 5 years and instead of doing a recall (costing lots of money), they extended the warranty on the radiator assembly from 3 years/36,000 miles to 8 years/96,000 miles hoping that problems will occur after that time and then they are off the hook for repairs. how dangerous could this have been under different circumstances. i am angry and disgusted with the way nissan has handled a problem they know could have caused a serious safety risk. *tr
I was driving on the interstate in overdrive and the truck came out of gear and the engine revved high in rpms. i had to turn overdrive off to get the truck to drive in 4th gear. i took the truck to a transmission shop and they explained coolant from the radiator had gotten into the transmission. they exchange the fluid but explained the transmission may need to be rebuilt if a lot of damage has been done. i was able to drive it for a week more shifting normally. i came to a stop at a red light after a week and when pressing the gas the truck would barely creep forward through the intersection. when the truck was turned off it would not crank back up and it is currently in the transmission shop waiting for parts because of a shortage of needed parts due to the pervasiveness of this issue. *tr
This report is submitted with regard to a potential problem with this vehicle. nissan has sent out a notice that this vehicle has a manufacturing defect. the radiator has a weakness so that it may begin leaking internally, which will contaminate the transmission and bring failure of the vehicle to accelerate, or in the most serious state, failure to move in traffic. nissan has sent a flimsy warranty extension that is only effective should this catastrophe occur. i am now reluctant to drive said vehicle, fearing breakdown and possible fatality in a highway situation. nissan should be forced to issue a recall to repair this manufacturing defect before total breakdown occurs. at this point i have talked to a local nissan dealer, and they basically say their hands are tied to help the consumer, due to nissan corporate decisions. please help hundreds of thousands nissan owners (2005-2010 frontier, pathfinder, xterra) and mandate a recall to repair this potentially dangerous problem. *tr
First thing that happened the gas gauge just quit working second the fuel line started leaking on the frame just after gas gauge fixed then transmission messed up transmission radiator and thermostat fixed and no running hot took it to dealer says nothing wrong with it also code is showing egr valve. *tr
Husband traveling on northwest expressway in oklahoma city, ok. stopped at the light in midst of 6 lanes of five o'clock traffic. the vehicle quit. he could not re-start it or safely get out of the vehicle. he used his cell phone to call farmers' help point towing company. thinking it was the battery, we had it towed home. we replaced the battery with a new one and bought jumper cables. this did not fix it. we called our neighborhood mechanic and had it towed to their shop. he let us know it was the radiator assembly and that we would have to take it to a transmission shop. he gave my husband a fuse to get the vehicle to them without using another towing service. i called the nissan dealer where we bought the vehicle after seeing that this is a known issue to nissan (see nissanassist.com). they refused to fix the issue and said we had no warranty help because the mileage was over 100k. they told us to call the nissan consumer service and gave us their number. i called them and they could not help--even when i talked to the supervisor. i quoted nissan's words--asking if nissan did not stand behind the commitment on their site: "nissan is committed to providing an outstanding vehicle ownership experience for all our customers." she told me she is a contractor working for a company hired by nissan and did not know. of course, we did not take the vehicle back to nissan to be repaired, but took it to aamco transmission, who charged us $5,700.00 for the repairs and warranty on the work. with the battery, jumper cables, towing charges and the first mechanics' bill--we paid $6,340.00--having to borrow $6k to resolve this issue. by the time we are finished paying off this loan, the cost will be closer to $10,000.00. if anyone can do something about this--please do--this known problem by nissan, cost us close to a quarter of our yearly income. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph in reverse, the transmission responded with extreme hesitation. the failure also occurred whenever the contact was driving on an incline. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis where they advised that the transmission severely vibrated when in reverse. in addition, the transmission fluid was burning abnormally. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 111,916.
Nissan frontier; truck pick up an vibration that turn into alot of jerking.t alk to the dealer about it,they said to check trans fluid to see if it had a strawberry color to it. if so the radiators was probably cracked and that coolant seep into the trans causing server trans failure. have no warrenty.computer in trans is damage. now valve body got to be replace with computer board along with all new clutches and radiator going to cost around 5 grand to fix. *tr
This issue is my radiator and transmission contamination. first noticed heat didn't work. mechanic checked radiator, found leak. began installing new radiator and saw that coolant was already contaminating tranny. truck dead at dealership. called nissan and they created a case. denied. escalated case. denied. started new escalation today. i have lost my job because i cant get there!!! what's next my home???? paid outright for this truck brand new. drove all the way to maryland to get it. less than 5 yrs old!!! but because my mileage was over the 80,000 they wont help. this product already had the flawed components when i drove it off the lot brand new so wtf should mileage have to do with it??? all the faulty sensors were annoying enough but this type of potential for failure should demand total recall....instead they issue warranty extensions and mileage limitations. i was never notified as a registered nissan owner when this issue was supposedly sent out last fall. and even if i had been my mileage was already over. that should not have mattered as this issue is such a safety and monetary concern. luckily it didn't fail while i was driving home at 8pm doing 70mph or when i had my kids in it. all in one week i lost vehicle because of flawed product, my job because my flawed vehicle died and my reputation as a reliable and responsible employee. heartbroken. i want my money back!!!!!!!!!!! never will i buy another nissan. greedy & irresponsible company with no sense of commitment to their consumers. *tr
I was merging onto highway interstate 85 in traffic that was flowing at speeds of approximately 75-80 mph, and the vehicle failed to shift out of third gear. this incident forced me to take immediately action and pull to the side of the road, which put my life in danger during rush hour traffic. i learned from the nissan dealership that the transmission in vehicles that were manufactured the same year, make and model, were defected but there was no recall. since that time, april 5, 2013 to be exact, the transmission in my vehicle has failed because of a manufacturers defect. something needs to be done about this hazardous threat to consumers before someone get seriously injured or killed. *tr
Never had any power train problems with this truck since i bought it. all of a sudden, i stopped at a red light, when the light changed to green and i pressed the accelerator, the rpm rose but the truck had no acceleration. i took had the truck towed to a mechanic who was able to diagnose the problem as the radiator had leaked into the transmission. it seems from reading the complaints that nissan is well known for this problem! why has nothing been done? i contacted nissan who told me the warranty has expired and no assistance is available. *tr
Known issues with faulty radiators is causing it to fail and mix antifreeze into the transmission causing the transmission to fail.. the result is a ~$9200 bill from your dealership for a new transmission and radiator.. nissan absolutely refused to take ownership of this issue making me the owner of my 4th nissan truck to pay.. *tr
Transmission has water in the fluid. *tr
Took it to the dealer "nemer" they told us that there was coolant in the transmission told us it would cost $5000 to $7000 to fix we took it to a place to have it flushed out that helped then after 109000 miles the transmission died been parked in driveway sense 12/13/13. *js
On july 2011 had to pay for new transmission for my truck after the radiator leaked in to the transmission, talked with nissan and tried to get them to stand behind it and they said they would have if the truck was, in side the new warranty they had put out but i was at 91611. they know what is wrong and how to fix this. they have to put the transmission cooler on the out side of the radiator about $ 200.00 fix.this replace cost, me more than $ 6000.00 to get fixed. now at 97980 miles we are back at the shop having the same thing, done over again, this time they are covering after i had to have a out side tech come in and prove that this was happening again. the first said it had to be replaced and then they had another one check it and said i was hearing the tires and the transmission was good. i would not pick up my truck because the 12 month warranty was about to run out on july 26 2012 . after the out side tec checked it out and said the transmission had coolant mixed with it they ordered every thing new again...should not have had to pay for the first one.. *tr
Many problems with my 2007 frontier. first my clutch went at about 65000 miles . have been driving stick all my life and never needed a clutch. the rear axel leaked and created a bad squeal and damaged my brake pads. my low tire pressure sensors went bad and my heater core went at 60000 miles. i am also getting an electrical smell inside the cabin. wow never had a vehicle have so much go wrong in less than 5 years. nissan dealer and nissan corporate both refused to accept responsibility of any defects. *tr
Both left and right axles seals failed causing gear oil to saturate the rear disc brake pads, rotor and emergency brake shoes. extreme decreased braking, which could have led to an accident. this is a true safety problem, which seems to be quite common with the frontier and titan pick-ups. *js
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that coolant was leaking into the transmission. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in any recalls. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileage was 72,410.
I took my truck into the dealership for a diagnostic test. i was told that i need a new timing chain. nissan has been aware that the timing chain systems installed in the subject nissan vehicles are prone to premature failure, and nissan continued to install defective timing chain systems in the subject nissan vehicles knowing that they were prone to premature failure. nissan not only refused to disclose the problem, but also actively concealed knowledge of it. nissan undertook affirmative efforts to conceal the failures through, among other things, technical service bulletins issued to repair facilities. although nissan was aware enough of the problem to issue multiple technical service bulletins to repair facilities, informing them of the need for timing chain systems to be replaced, nissan selectively chose not to inform consumers of this fact. nissan concealed this so that the warranty period on the subject nissan vehicles would expire before owners become aware of the problem. through this practice, nissan unlawfully transfers the cost of replacement from itself to the owners of the subject nissan. the fact that the timing chain systems were prone to sudden premature failure is material to consumers because it presents a serious safety issue and places the driver and passengers at a risk of harm. *tr
I had been noticing my automatic truck shutter before thumping into gear months before i actually took the truck into the nissan dealers shop for analysis. when they inspected, i was told my transmission had been damage due to contamination by engine coolant and i would need a new transmission. the source of the contamination is a cracked atf line that runs through an engine coolant chamber in the radiator. this defective part and design came directly from the nissan factory. nissan knew about the defect and failed to notify the consumer or replace the failed transmissions @ no cost. please advise of any recalls and results from the investigation. *tr
My transmission failed due to radiator coolant mixing with my transmission fluid. nissan knew about the factory defect but failed to notify the consumers or replace the transmissions. nissan was involved in a class action lawsuit and increased the transmission warranty to 10 years or 100k miles. but they required the customer to provide a co-pay of $3000.00 (which is ridiculous). however i noticed symptoms of my truck shuttering and thumping into gear around 95,000 miles, my vehicle had appx110,000 miles on it when the nissan dealership officially diagnosed the problem. furthermore, mileage should not matter because this is a "factory defect". i bought my nissan frontier new in 2007 and it was only a matter of time before the transmission failed due to the "factory defect". please inform me if there is any recourse/recall for this situation. thank you. *tr
Transmission failed while driving in very busy traffic. maximum 20 mph, while everybody else was driving 55+ mph. transmission failed without warning leaving my son and i scared to death- if i had been merging into interstate traffic we would have been run over, maybe even killed. nissan refuses to acknowledge issue with the radiator/transmission fluid cooling system. i hope nobody dies as a result of the defect or the situation it can put an unknowing driver in. *js
About 2 weeks ago i started to feel as if the truck was not shifting correctly, soon after that the check engine light came on and i brought it right in to our regular service station. a diagnostic check revealed code p0717 for a turbine revolution sensor and i was told to take it to the dealer. the nissan dealer did their own diagnostic (no test drive) and found it to be a bad value body, as well as bad timing chain and tensioners, and replacement of all 6 coil packs, along with a few other general findings gave me an estimate of nearly 5 thousand dollars. the 2 diagnostic checks have cost me close to $250. i was in shock and did not have the ability to pay for the repairs up front, so i took the truck to 2 other service stations, one being aamco who specializes in transmissions. none of the 3 other stations found any other issues aside from the transmission. aamco after a test drive and diagnostic check determined there was an issue but would need to remove the transmission to determine the extent of the problem. aamco found there to be water being pumped into the transmission, and also claimed it was the 3 problem of this type they had seen so far this month. apparently the radiator leaks water into the transmission. the fix is a rebuilt transmission and separate cooler for the transmission to assure this won't happen again. at a cost of 3200 to me! this particular aamco is across from the dealer and claims that have done work for the dealership to fix the same problem! i also received a letter back in oct. /nov. indicating a possible radiator problem and an offer of an extended warranty. nothing was mentioned of the damage that could occur to the transmission! i feel cheated, and in my research have found this to be a very common problem. nissan should stand by their product and do the right thing by their customers! *tr
Transmission. we were passing a car when it started to come in our lane. i tried to accelerate out of its way. the transmission shuttered and would not accelerate. lucky for us the driver saw us at that last second and got back in his lane avoiding an accident. *tr
The transmission cooler located in the radiator failed and now radiator has transmission fluid in it and the transmission has water in it. both are ruined and dealer says it is $9000. apparently this is a known defect only covered up to 80000 miles and nissan needs to fix this. if it was a known issue, it could have been fixed for a few hundred bucks. thank you
The radiator in the vehicle ruptured, allowing coolant into transmission. this led to loss of power, hard shifting, and slippage while accelerating. contacted nissan, they informed me warranty had been extended but i was 1,600 miles over their arbitrarily extended limit. they suggested i contact the dealer for assistance. the delaer repeated that it was outside of warranty period, and estimated repair costs at $7000. i took truck to local shop, who quoted $5500, and now find out that the transmission parts are on backorder and i will be without my work vehicle for about 1 month. nissan is clearly aware of this driveline failure issue, but they are attempting to push off the cost of their faulty parts onto the consumer, rather than remedy what is a costly and potentially very dangerous defect.
I am the original owner of a 2007 nissan frontier with 114,000 miles. i took my car into the local nissan dealership for service due to transmission issues. their assessment astounded me. they informed me that the transmission and radiator needed to be replaced due to a known manufacture defect in the radiator causing antifreeze to be spilled into the transmission. the quoted repair was over $6000.00. this is my only vehicle and i'm still making loan payments on it. i've treated this vehicle with kid gloves and followed the maintenance schedule religiously. this mechanical issue is due to something that was originally sold to me defective and nissan of north america is unwilling to cover the repairs. this is a widespread issue and has affected many nissan owners. there are even class action lawsuits against nissan to get reparations for repair bills already paid. *tr
The rear axles on my 2007 nissan frontier began leaking grease at some point. the fluid leaked on the rear brakes, causing potential brake problems if and eventual failure if gone unnoticed. upon further research, there is a tsb for the problem as well as several other models affected, including the titan, and xterra. *tr
On 01-13-2011 i was driving my 2007 nissan frontier pick up on pa sr 92s. between nicholson and tunkhannock abs and slip warning lights came on. i called my nissan dealer immediately, explained the problem and difficulties i had handling the vehicle on the snow covered road. i was told that earliest appointment i could get was 01-20-2011. on my way back, when i drove on another snowy road i applied 4x4 system but it failed to engage. now the abs, slip and 4x4 did not work and i had hard times to make it safely home. i called the dealer again a was again told that i could get it fixed on 01-20-2011. i decided to report this problem and i hope that your investigation of my complain will make driving, especially winter driving of nissan vehicles safer. *tr
Nissan radiator/transmission cooler needs to be replaced at a cost of $3,000 for vehicles up to 100,000 after a class action suit was done. nissan is acknowledging the problem and i feel this should be cause of a recall and that nissan should pay the full cost to replace. this cost represent 1/2 of the kelly blue book value on the vehicle. the vehicle is non-operable. the cost also represents about 15% of what the vehicle was originally purchased for. after speaking with nissan consumers affairs, they say there is nothing else to but to contact you to try to change it to a full recall. *tr
Purchased new 2007 nissan frontier-v-6, long wheel-base truck. expierienced brake problem at 20k miles, replaced by dealer, had low speed whine and brake pedal drop to floor and 35 to 40 mph judder and vibration. went back to dealer, they checked and noticed the drive shaft was comming apart, they replaced with new one, idicated it was defective from vendor. i have had this truck back into dealer four times since with the same re-occuring problems. they can't find the source or the problem. zone mgr. for midwest drove the vehicle and indicated that they can't find the problem and they will not replace anything else. i was told to take it to the bbb if i wanted a solution under current lemon laws. he also indicated it will probably fall apart down the road-complete and utter dis-regard for my safety. they are in complete denial that they have a problem with this vehicle. is it just now that toyota had a recall for broken/cracked yokes on tacoma's and nissan is exempt? don't they all buy parts from dana corp.? nissan has experienced a large sales surge and are expanding just like gm had in the 70's. they don't have time/talent to take care of their problems just more new vehicles, more engineering problems, push it out the door and let the dealers take care of problems. this somehow has a familiar ring to it like toyota's problem with acceleration! keep relieing on electronic controls to run the vehicles and take away control fromthe driver. the auto companies need to be investigated further for safety compliance as madison avenue commercials alude to the fact that all of these safety features that are incorporated into vehicles work flawsley when they actually don't! how many more people have to be killed or seriously injured with these so-called safe vehicles, made in usa with cheap china made parts! i'm sure there are more vehicles out on the road with these same re-occuring problems not being replaced or repaired due to mfgr. defects and problems!!!
Leaky rear axle seals and or faulty parking brake can cause loss of property/life. *tr
