We have classified the 103 complaints from 2007 Nissan Frontier about FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE into the following categories.
Fuel gauge shows empty when its full or vise versa. gauge does not work because fuel tank has warped and float wont read it properly. nissan is aware of their problem but nissan in reno nv wants $400.00 to fix it. their faulty parts and they wont stand behind them. weak. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that the fuel gauge was reading inaccurate fuel level as a result the contact was unaware when the vehicle was empty. the contact also stated that the check engine light was illuminated. the contact was made aware of nhtsa campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline), however, the vin was not included. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Fuel gauge shows empty when its the tank is full and causes the "check engine" light to go on. i can't tell when i'm out of gas. *tr
I was told that my vehicle does not have a recall due to the vin but yet when i went on the safecar.gov website and the issue's that i am having with my truck is what is on the list. what i don't understand why the place that i get it repair will not honor this. i have the abs/vdc wheel speed sensor and the fuel gauge issues. *js
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that immediately after refueling, the fuel level gauge would not move to register the fuel level. additionally, the check engine warning light was illuminated. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the contact's vehicle year and model was not included in the recall campaign although he was experienced the same failures. the manufacture was alerted of the failure and advised the contact to have the vehicle diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate current and failure mileage was 109,000. updated 05/28/14 ma updated 05/29/2014 *js *tr
My wife ran out of fuel on the road while driving our 2007 nissan frontier. i called nissan since a voluntary recall for the fuel gauge not working was issued by nissan, see: http://www.nissanassist.com/web/fuel-sending-unit/programdetails.php?menu=3 now they are telling me that the recall ended in feb 2013, i bought the truck used in 2012 with 36,000 miles on it. the letter that nissan published specifies that the warranty was extended to 72,000 miles without a year specified on the letter, my truck only has 52,000 miles and nissan refuses to fix my truck. instead they sent me to a dealer that wants $500+ to fix it. this should be a mandatory recall, my wife could have been in a accident due to this problem. *tr
My vehicle no longer registers how much fuel is in my tank because of a faulty fuel sending unit. i ran out of gas on the freeway. why wasn't a recall issued to fix the known problem? stalled vehicles pose a hazard. *tr
Gas gauge quit working goes between half and quarter tank and stops, letting you run out of gas. next item is timing chain howl on cold starts for over a year now then i read bulletin that chain tensioners are wearing and causing timing chain failures and nissan has never notified owners i was just in to dealer about gas gauge problem about 2 weeks ago and no one mentioned timing chain problem. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. in addition, the contact stated that the fuel and check engine warning lights illuminated. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 08v690000 (air bags) but did not confirm if the vin was included. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 75,000. updated 01/23/15*lj
After filling up my gas tank, the fuel gauge stayed on empty when i started my 2007 frontier. as i was driving along the highway, the gauge slowly moved to the full position (roughly an hour after fill-up) yesterday, 7/14/13 i filled up- thinking the previous incident was a fluke. this time the check engine light came on(still on) and the gauge is only at half a tank. the local nissan dealer quoted me $500.00 to fix the issue ,and told me that 72,000 miles was the cut-off for the warranty again, it has 85,000 miles on it. *tr
In february of 2013 my 2007 nissan frontier began to display a tire pressure warning light on the instrument panel. regardless of the tire pressure in each tire, the light remained on. it flashed with engine start up before being steadily illuminated. also, in late march 2013 the fuel gauge began to indicate a problem. upon filling up the vehicle's fuel tank the gauges needle would fall to e (empty), the low fuel indicator light would illuminate, and the needle would remain on e until driving approximately 20-25 miles. when the needle reached f (full) the service engine soon (ses) light would come on and remain on until the vehicle was driven enough to burn approximately half the tank of fuel. after researching the issue online it is apparently quite common with nissan frontiers, xterras, and pathfinders in this range of production years (e.g. 2007). on june 11, 2013 i finally took the frontier to a nissan dealership. an evaluation was made, and the service staff identified the trouble as being a tire pressure sensor and fuel sending unit for the respective causes of trouble. my online research corroborates this. i received an estimate of approximately $793 for repair of the two components. nissan needs to continue to provide warranty/free repair or replacement for these components as they continue to be faulty based on copious internet research. both of these faults present a hazard to drivers and occupants as the display center, which a driver may rely on for vehicle information, will not function properly when needed so that a driver is not certain what level of fuel is available in the tank, and if/when a tire is low or flat. this may result in the driver being stranded without availability of assistance as well as a vehicle accident. *tr
Fuel gauge drops to empty after filling up with gas. engine check light comes on. sometimes the gauge will go slowly back to normal position then engine check light goes off. *tr
Nissan extended a limited warranty for a fuel gauge sending unit which displays incorrect amount of fuel. my nissan has passed the year of extended warranty not the miles. so nissan failed my "hardship request" that they sent my case through. though i did not have any problems with the fuel sending unit until after the warranty expired, nissan's decision was to deny my fix. i don't see how i can report a problem if it has not occurred. the nissan official told me over the phone that i had not spent enough money at the dealer ship/has not had my vehicle serviced there enough though my vehicle was there times before and i had maintenance performed at another qualified service center. *tr
The fuel gauge has issues with proper amount of fuel in tank. the service engine light on with a po0643 code. the 2006 and 2008 models are covered by a recall, but not the 2007 for the same exact problem with the same parts being used. something must be done! *tr
Fuel gauge sensor corroded and gauge no longer works. *tr
The check engine light came on while starting the truck. it was place on the diagnostic machine and the result was that a sensor in the gas tank was not working. i received a recall notice one week after the warranty had expired. the notice stated that the warranty would take care of the problem. i emailed nissan to complain and never heard from them. *tr
My gas gauge began giving bad reading after driving several miles. went to 1/2 tank and stayed there. this continued for several weeks. filled the gas tank. the next day the engine repair light came on while driving to work. checked the code and it was the fuel sending unit. reset and the light went out. unit worked fine. next fill up the light came on again and the fuel gauge. kept jumping around. not knowing the amount of gas and running out at speed would cause lose of steering and brake control. nissan recalled the 2006&2008 models to fix. i can't imagine that they did not use same unit in 2007 model.
This refers to my 07 nissan frontier with 90k miles. since august 2012, fuel gauge is erratic indicating erroneous fuel level. may show fuel when empty or empty when tank if fuel. potential for running out of gas on highway creating hazardous circumstance. diagnostic code is p0463. internet search reveals many with same problem on nissan. allegedly same problem resulted in recall for 2006 but not for 2007 models with same issue. why? customer service at local nissan dealer and nissan main office not particularly helpful except to say local dealer will fix for 400-500 plus 120 for initial diagnosis. blatantly unfair to customer for this safety issue. this is not a worn out part, it is a defective electrical fuel sensor sending unit. *tr
2007 nissan frontier. consumer writes in regards to defect in fuel level sending unit *tgw the consumer stated on june 30, 2012, the check engine light illuminated. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, where she was informed the fuel level sending unit needed to be replaced. at the time, they did research and she was informed the part had an extended warranty with an expiration date of 09/22/12 or 72,000 miles. the consumer stated she was not notified of an extended warranty. the consumer was informed the original owner's information was still in the database. nissan stated they were not going to replace the part, because the vehicle was over required mileage. *jb
After filling up and entire tank of gas, my needle dropped to empty, and my odometer read -------, not reading anything at all. every fill up after, it is the same thing. i looked online and read that there is an epidemic with nissan and my vehicle with this situation, however, after going to the dealership and asking if there was a recall, i was told 'no' and i would have to pay out of pocket, for a common problem, with the nissan frontier/pathfinder, from the manufacturer. *tr
Service engine light came on for the first time since i bought the vehicle brand new. auto zone checked it out and stated it was a fuel sending unit failure. i did noticed the pass week it was having trouble reading how much gas i had left (dte) i researched and found it there was a recall on this particular issue for our vehicles. contact united nissan dealership and told me i was passed the 72,000 mile so it doesn't cover the recall? i don't understand how they would predict when it would fail? i did not receive a notice of this recall or i would have had it done weather i did have the problem or not. its a common problem for our vehicles so why put a mark on when it is covered? its not fair for those experience the problem after. contact nissan consumer usa and stated there was no recall for my vehicle " nissan frontier" which makes no sense to me. so no help there... ill never buy a nissan ever again very poor on assisting their customers. we need a class action lawsuit on these guys its a common problem fix it!!! *tr
At 7600 miles i hear a noise on the engine and check engine lights came on and gas gauge star reading empty went was full i took to the dealer they told me the noise was coming from some where in the engine they never told me was timing, chain,i took to a local repair shop and they found out that timing chain was the problem ,the check engine light at the dealer told me the was the that the reason for the gas tank read empty was t due a gas module. *tr
After filling with fuel on 12/2/2011, the fuel gauge was hung at about 1/4 tank. i drove approximately 75 miles before the fuel gauge was registering near full. on 12/8/2011, i filled the tank with fuel, and upon starting the engine the fuel gauge read "empty" and the fuel light was on. i drove approximately 85 miles, but the fuel gauge remained on empty with the fuel light on. on 12/9/2011, i contacted nissan consumer affairs concerning the recall on this model of vehicle and i was told that my vin was not included in the recall. however, nissan did open a file number (7327001) and it is being forwarded to a regional specialist for review, but am told it is unlikely that the fuel sending unit will be covered. there is apparently a problem with the fuel sending unit, as nissan had extended the warranty on this component to 72,000 miles, but am told that unfortunately i have exceeded the warranty period. i was also told that i would have to take my vehicle to a nissan dealer for diagnosis, at my expense, and no certainty if nissan will stand good for the defective part. so the dealer can charge me approximately $120.00 to me what i already know? i would consider this a highway safety issue; not knowing if you are getting an accurate fuel quantity reading, and the possibility of being stranded. *tr
Driving on highway at speed, 11:30 pm truck stalled out, attempted neutral restart while maneuvering to the right was a very hazardous situation. truck fuel gauge was reading 1/4 tank. the check engine light was now on so i did not consider it had run out of fuel. i had it towed to mechanic, code read p0463 which is the fuel level sensor on the fuel pump located in the fuel tank. mechanic wants $700 to repair, the 2006 and 2008 versions of the vehicle have been recalled, but not the 2007, seems that nissan has used these defective parts in all 3 and probably more model years. i was placed in a situation that was extremely hazardous to me, my passengers, and those motorists on the road around me. since this event i have read website after website describing this product defect, it is the same in every case it is clear that nissan has placed inferior parts in this truck and they are failing putting their customers and those around us in harms way. do we need to wait for fatalities to recognize this is a manufactures defect. nissan needs to take responsibility for the 2007 and any other model years that have this part in them. *tr
2007 nissan frontier at 54k mile check engine light came on with the error code p0463 (fuel sending units failure). found out that this problem is also happened to the 06 and 08 nissan frontier that was on the safety recalled list. the check engine light light up on (p0463) and gas gauge indicator will drop to empty fuel even still at 1/4 full, due to the defective sending units nissan manufactured. i am hoping that nhtsa will includes the 2007 nissan frontier as a safety recall fix list. thank you. *kb
Fuel gauge failed. slight smell of fuel in cabin. dealer stated that they would replace the fuel sending unit under an extended warranty. dealer stated that while troubleshooting the fuel sending unit they discovered that there was a problem with the fuel lines leading to the fuel tank. technician stated that there appeared to be damage to the fuel lines caused by an unknown animal chewing through the fuel line, requiring the replacement of the entire fuel tank. this sounded very improbable and i believe it has to be a result of the poor quality of the plastic fuel tanks used in this vehicle. *tr
The fuel line has rusted through and gas is leaking. nissan will not correct the problem under their 60 month/unlimited mileage corrosion/perforation warranty. *tr
I pulled into the gas station and filled up like i normally do. when i started my engine, my gas gauge did not climb past the 1/4 mark. i turned my truck on and off 2 more times to see if this might fix the problem, it did not. as i drove home, the gauge climbed ever so slowly before stopping at 1/2 tank. this is when the check engine light came on. i got home and googled the problem and this seems to be a fairly common problem. what i don't understand is why the 06 and 08 models are recalled but not the 07. i refuse to take it to my local dealership because i have always had less then stellar service and just refuse to deal with them and be forced to overpay.
The fuel sending unit on my 2007 nissan frontier went bad at 74,000 miles. nissan has declined to repair it as it is out of the warranty period. however this is such a common and well documented problem, the 2007 frontiers should be included in the recall that is available for some of the '06 and '08 frontiers. *tr
i turned on the car, at which point the needle did not register the full tank. after driving a couple miles, the check engine light came on. i went directly to the dealer and was told that it was a fuel sending unit/sensor and that it was no longer covered after 30k miles. after returning home and doing research, i went online to x.nissanhelp.com after performing a search, i came across many others who have experienced the same problem. apparently it has something to do with the fuel sending unit. a similar problem was found on the 2000-2004 xterra models and a recall was performed when the vehicle would stop after not getting any fuel, posing a great danger. it seems that something in the unit is faulty and will corrode over time. there is a general consensus that everyone who is having the problem is experiencing the same thing after having the vehicle for over 2 yrs and with around 39k-49k. if this problem existed in previous models, and it was recalled, the 2005-2007 xterras, frontiers, and pathfinders should get this fixed at no charge to the customer!! why wait for accidents and possible deaths, especially since the problem lies in an integral part of the vehicle. cost of repair ranges from $300-600." *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated while driving 35 mph the vehicle stalled and the check engine lamp was illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel level sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 100,000.
Check engine light comes on with error code p0463. this is due to a faulty fuel level sensor. this has been a problem with nissan and the previous models with the same issue were recalled. this failure causes the vehicle to be out of compliance with texas laws and will not pass annual inspection without repair. *tr
Filled up gas tank gauge would not move then my service engine light came on. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 nissan frontier. the contact stated that when refueling the vehicle, the fuel level indicator would display the tank as empty. in addition, when the fuel tank was full, the fuel level indicator would only display one quarter a tank of fuel. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician was working on diagnosing the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 115,000. the vin was not available.
I have a 2007 nissan frontier. i ran out of gas despite my fuel gauge showing that i had a little less then 1/4 tank of gas left in the tank. i see that there was a recall for 2006 and 2008 vehicles but not the 2007. have there been any other complaints for this problem for 2007? my gas gauge takes a long time to get back up to full and my check engine light stays on. i make certain that the gas cap is on tight after each fill up. i was told that the fuel level sensor may be bad. i have not had the problem fixed yet so the part would be available after i have the problem fixed. *tr
the fuel gauge malfunctioned it would indicate that it was empty eventhough the tank was full. i talked to service manager, he says that nissan would not cover repair because it was not a recall item. nissan did have a recall on the same item for the 2006 and 2008 models. they could not explain why the 2007 models were not included. *tr
Service engine soon (ses) light is on constantly. fuel system reads erratic levels - when it reaches approx 1/4 to 3/8 of a tank, the fuel gauge drops to the bottom and the light comes on, as though the tank were empty. the truck reports p0463 code. *tr
I was driving home on the expressway hwy 75 south downtown atlanta ga and all of a sudden my truck just stopped running. i manage to cost to the side of the expressway. after several attempts to restart the truck i called for help. had the truck town to a local shop only to find out that it ran out of gas. the culprit a faulty fuel gauge a known issue with the 2007 frontier models. i contacted nissan to have it replace but i was told that since i was over 72000 miles that i would have to replace it the cost to me. i will never buy another nissan as long as i live i almost got ran over trying to get the truck to the side of the roadway. my fuel gauge was reading 1/2 of tank of gas. this should be a safety recall. i know that it will not be considered one until someone is killed as a result of this issue and this is very sad especially since nissan has known about the issue since day one. *tr
Fuel gauge problem and sevice engine soon light. *tr
2007 nissan frontier has an error code of po463, fuel sending unit sensor is likely cause. gas gauge stuck at empty, currently under 35,000 miles. *tr
I have a 2007 nissan frontier, and the gas tank sensor failed like so many others from 2005 to 2010. i ran out of gas the first time and it stopped so suddenly i almost got rear ended. i called nissan and they said that my vin number doesn't fall in the recall list. i am on forums and everyone is having issues with this but they are only picking a few to fix. this is wrong. anyways now when i fill it up it goes to empty and the light comes on and the check engine light lights. then after 30 or so miles it ever so slowly starts to climb until it is full. then for no reason it will go empty again. it keeps going through this cycle. *tr
Nissan frontier 2007, service bulletin notes defective fuel gauge sensor and this can give a false fuel level and cause breakdown on highway. sb # ntb07-069b and they will not honor this as a recall need. defective fuel gauge is a dangerous item when traveling on highways at night. please push nissan to recall / improve these units. *tr
I am having an issue with the fuel gauge on my 2007 nissan frontier king cab. first off when my tank would get to just under a quarter my check engine light would come on and i would have to disconnect and reconnect the battery to make the light go away. now my gauge reads empty on a full tank of gas and the low fuel light and check engine light are on. this first happened right after filling my gas tank up all the way a few days ago. gauge is stuck a empty and lights will not go away. *tr
If left idling longer than 3 minutes (+-), the gas gauge drops to "e" and warning lot comes on. after fill-up, the gas gauge will not move for approx. 120 miles, after which i assume it is accurate. *tr
Fuel level sensor. service engine soon light came on. the gas gauge stopped working and sometimes creeps up. not sure how much gas is in the truck. sometimes it is full and sometimes it goes to half and other times it just drops to empty. *tr
Fuel gauge goes to empty after a fill-up and is erratic afterwards. vehicle is 2007 nissan frontier. *tr
I own a 2007 nissan frontier se 4x4 crew cab pickup. i purchased the aforementioned vehicle new in 2007. recently the "service engine soon" warning light came on. shortly after the warning light came on i began to notice my fuel gauge needle dropping to empty or near empty when i knew i had at least 1/4 tank of gasoline. if i shut the engine off and started it back up the fuel gauge needle would indicate 1/4 tank, and then shortly afterward drop to empty or near empty. i did some research and found out that this problem seems to be very common and should warrant a recall. my vehicle has approximately 45,800 miles on it. in my opinion running out of fuel or being distracted by a malfunctioning fuel gauge could lead to an accident. i request that this problem is investigated and a recall is initiated immediately. thank you for reading this. *tr
Fuel gauge showed that i had a quarter tank but i ran out of gas. went to station and filled up and gauge still showed 1/4 tank. on 8/2, gauge finally reported that i had 3/4 tank of gas which was probably close to what was in my tank. in doing some research, it appears this is a common problem for nissan frontiers, but my year (2007) does not show up in the recall database. *tr
I have ran out of gas in the middle of traffic on a busy highway almost causing an accident due to fuel gauge not reading fuel level. i was luck enough to be able to pull to the side of the road. this is on a nissan 2007 frontier se model. *ln
On or about 7-15-10, i filled the fuel tank in my 2007 nissan frontier se crew cab to capacity. within seconds of starting and driving the vehicle afterwards, the "service engine" warning light came on and my fuel gauge indicator dropped to the half-full mark. it has been erratic since that event and has not properly indicated how much fuel remains in the tank. on 7-16-10, i took the vehicle to the dealer from which it was purchased. their service department diagnosed the problem and advised the vehicle needed a new fuel sending unit. they also advised that there was no recall on that part, although there was a recall on that part for the nissan titan. through research, i have discovered that nissan has had previous recalls on fuel sending units on other model years and vehicles, and many owners have posted the similar problem online, specifically regarding the fuel sending unit on the 2007 nissan frontier. nissan is at this time unwilling to repair the problem at their cost, which i find frustrating as it is an obvious part problem. my concern is that an inaccurate fuel level reading caused by this faulty unit could lead to a stalled vehicle in traffic, posing a considerable safety risk. *tr
