Cpsc:this winter i was noticing and having even more problems with glare and sun and lights at night reflecting on these shiny "melted" areas, making it difficult to see the road in the right conditions. as previously stated, my dash was all originally a black matte finish and glare was never a problem prior to the dash material appearing to break down. i decided to google "melting dashboards" to see what i could find to fix or repair, or reports, etc. *bf updated 08/31/2017*js ...updated 10/03/17 *bf updated 10/25/17 *bf *js *tr
Sorry for my belated complaint. i just learned of your website. early evening aug 18, 2016 entire rear window of my 2005 nissan altima completely blew out for no apparent reason. fortunately -- nobody was sitting in back seat(s) of my car - no adults & no children !! what a big mess !! a clear & normal summer evening - no severe weather conditions to even provoke a crazy & sudden incident like this. luckily -- i was not on a highway. i was on a quiet suburban road with relatively low traffic. i was at stop light & suddenly heard a loud pop sound -- almost like a gun shot. i checked my rear view mirror & my entire car rear window was blown out with very large holes & tiny shattered glass pieces strewn all over inside back seat area of my car. some shattered glass even blew out all way to front section where i was seated !! i immediately got off the road & pulled over into nearby walgreens parking lot & called local police. policeman came & examined my car. he did not feel any foul play was involved nor any gunshot nor ...
I own a 2008 nissan altima (vin# [xxx]). i have to two questions for you: 1) why has there not been a recall on the dashboards towards their stickiness & melting? especially since toyota recalled theirs because of that. 2) why has there not been a recall on the tpms? it stays on all the time. with it on all the time, how are supposed to tell when the air is low. if i turn it off, it won't come back on even when the tires are low. if i replace one, i have to replace all of them. ntb has even tried putting nitrogen in the tires. but that did not work. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
I have noticed that my dashboard is melting. there has not been any cleaning substance put on the dashboard. my car sits out in the sun as i do not have garage or carport. the glare from the dashboard creates a hazard as there is a glare while your are driving. *tr
